Hey everyone, welcome to the Monday Minute from the Independent Dealer podcast, a quick
reset to help you lead better, think clearer and build your dealership with intention.
Before we get started, I want to make sure that everybody's gone to the newsletter that
was released yesterday and make sure you look at that because it lays out the full theme
and for the week and the way that you need to implement what we're about to talk about.
So the Monday Minute, this here is the mindset. The newsletter is the roadmap.
All right, let's get going, Jeff. What we got this week?
So we're going to start it off with the foundation, talking about your dealership's
real purpose. Now, let me give you something to think about as we kick off this week. Most
people believe a dealership exists to just sell cars, but you and I know that that's not really
the reason why we open our doors. We started dealership to create opportunity, opportunity for
our customers, reliable transportation, opportunity for people to build their credit,
and opportunity for ourselves, our employees to build careers and provide for our families.
At this core, your dealership is basically a platform. It's a platform to serve,
platform to solve problems and basically to improve lives. So when you're clear on that
purpose, decisions get easier. You hire differently, you treat customers differently,
and you build your systems differently. Yeah, you're so right. So let's talk about a couple
simple exercises that you can consider this week when you're doing this. First, I love this one,
Jeff, define your mission. And this isn't a fancy paragraph you're going to put on your website.
This is something that really hits your core. Why does my dealership exist and who are we here to
serve? That's a big deal because if you're just out there trying to make money, you're probably
not going to make it. I mean, you got to make money. Don't get me wrong. But next, identify your
impact. So list three specific ways your dealership can positively affect your community. I love this,
three of them. So maybe it's helping challenge, credit challenge customers like we talked about,
get back on their feet. Supporting local charities is such a great thing. And they're creating a
buying experience that really kind of shows people who you are. Write it down, make it real.
Third, think about the relationships. I love this. All the relationships I've built over the years
in our community. It's just amazing. We're talking about serving second, third, fourth generations.
It's a long term success and it comes with one transaction at the time. Repeat customers,
referrals. It just builds trust. So I want you to ask yourself, how can we improve,
can improve that communications? And how do we simplify the buying process there to make it,
make it interact better? And then stay connected after yourself because that's a big deal. And
finally, just take some action when it comes to those things because purpose without action is
just a good idea. But purpose with action becomes momentum. Absolutely. Absolutely,
and so here's the key takeaways from today to wrap this up. You're not just selling vehicles.
Remember that. It's not just slinging metal. You're helping people move forward.
Move forward. I mean, movement is freedom. Transportation is freedom. I tell my team
that all the time. Also, when you lead with purpose, profits will fall. Yes. So
not just chasing a buck all the time. And when your team understands why you do what you do,
they show up differently every single day, which sometimes is hard because yeah,
we're not saving children's. We're not building orphanages. We're not digging wells. We're selling
cars, but cars are freedom. So start this year by getting clear on your purpose. Everything
else builds from there. That's right. And again, Jeff, we need to go back to the newsletter,
check it out. And if you haven't already registered for our new newsletter, go to the
independent dealer podcast.com. Right, Jeff? Absolutely. You can get there, click the link,
register and we'll build this together. Let's go.
