Hey, everyone, and welcome to the Monday Minute from Podium and Jeff, you know what?
They use AI to talk to clients that they've heard.
Pretty neat.
Anyway, it's a quick, quick reset to help you lead better, think clearer, and build
your dealership with intention.
Before we get started, Jeff, go back to the newsletter, check it out, make sure you know
what we're talking about because it really goes on well.
So if you haven't already subscribed, go to the website, subscribe, you're good to go.
The Monday Minute is the mindset, the newsletter is the roadmap.
All right, Jeff, what's the theme this week?
This one's a great one.
I really, really like this week because this is an important thing for you to visit anytime,
no matter what stage of business you're in, it's your mission statement, right?
Not the version that sounds good on paper, the version that actually reflects how you
operate every single day.
So that changes.
I cannot tell you how many times I've reworded, retooled my mission statement based on the
maturity of me as a business owner, based on the maturity of my dealership, based on
what my goals are, based on just where I want my employees to focus, right?
What I want them to look at.
So it should answer one simple question.
Why do we exist and how do we help people, right?
What sets us apart?
Is it a flexible financing, dependable vehicles, maybe a stress-free family, buying experience?
Whatever it is, it needs to be real, right?
Can't just be fluffed, you pull out of the air because it looks good on paper, right?
A strong mission statement isn't just clever, it's clear, it's personal.
And something you can stand behind, even in your hardest days, right?
That is a thing that you should be working on constantly.
It's not just like throw it in chat GPT and have it come up with some canned answer.
You want to bounce it off your spouse, your employees, your management, everything, right?
Luke, how are we going to do it?
Yeah, so there's nothing worse than going to a business where their mission statement
doesn't align with the way you feel when you get there, right?
Yeah, totally opposite.
You're like, dude, it's right there on your wall, but you guys don't do that.
Right, it's the worst.
So first, define your purpose.
Why did you start your dealership?
What problem are you solving for your customers?
Let's keep it simple.
We can polish the language as we go, right?
Yeah.
Second, identify the core values.
And Jeff, you have something, we talked about this before, that are your core values.
Can you just throw those out real quick?
Yeah, so we have just an acronym for our four seasons auto, it's my dealership.
So F-O-U-R, which is family optimism, unwavering, which means we do what we say
we're going to do, and then rectify, which means we do what's right for the
customer all the time, no matter what.
So family optimism, unwavering, rectify.
Those are our four core values that we use to tie in to build out our mission statement.
Yeah, and that's awesome.
And third, what we're going to do is we're going to take those core values
and we're going to draft and refine it and just a pro tip.
Jeff said, don't use AI.
And I'm telling you to use AI here.
Podium would love this.
It's a use your AI.
I said, don't just use AI.
Right.
So once you get all these things, you start prompting your chat or or Gemini or whatever,
it'll start helping you develop this.
Sometimes it's kind of hard to write, but make sure your, your folks, your customer
focus, easy to understand and easy to repeat.
And then read it out loud.
Does it sound right?
Do we need to refine some more?
Because just because chat said it was good, doesn't mean it's good.
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
And it's, it's not just a marketing ploy, right?
Yes, you want it to look good on your documents.
Maybe you put it up on your wall when people walk in and see it, but it's more
so for alignment.
Like, does your team understand why you exist and why you're serving?
Right.
It's, we talk about this a lot, but it is really hard sometimes because we, we're
not out saving the whales, you know, we're not hugging trees and like, you know,
feeding hungry children in Somalia.
We're selling metal.
But what is it?
You know, what is that metal?
And to me, it's freedom.
You know, like we literally sell freedom in my town without a car.
You are not free.
You are stuck.
There is no public transportation.
There's very little Ubers.
Like in rural America, if you don't have a car, you ain't going nowhere.
So defining it, refining it, and then just end up living it daily, right?
Yep.
Hey, Jeff, let's build this thing together.
