LIVE
Hello, it's Friday.
Hello.
Yeah, it's Friday.
Yay!
The Brain Buster.
And you're here with us.
You got a question.
We got a question.
You got an answer.
Whoa.
That's the way it works.
Is that the that's the you?
I never knew the slogan.
That's it.
We got a question.
You've got an answer.
Oh my God.
That is like movie magic.
You are just.
Thank you.
I'll be here all week.
And tip your shrimp cocktail.
Yeah, let's jump right in.
So this is the Brain Buster.
We've got a question.
You've got an answer.
Did anybody have the answer?
Get to it.
Well, we had a.
Are we am I going first?
Yeah, let's go.
Emily asked what is the very first 200 mile per hour production
production car?
You already had a land speed car.
Yep.
That was 1927.
And that was 1927.
And yeah, if anybody remembers the Brain Buster from last week,
it was what was the first 200 mile per hour car.
So I do imagine what the production car could be.
I'm just well beside myself.
I think it depends on who you talk to.
Oh, actually.
Well, I haven't talked to anybody.
It's a little bit murky like the Jeep itself.
Oh, no.
So first of all murky water is my favorite blues guitars.
Yes, mine too.
First we have in 1969.
69.
You did that on purpose.
I did 69.
The Dodge Charger Daytona.
And this was a super bird.
I don't think was the Daytona a super bird.
It did have the wing.
The super bird had the wing too.
But that was a road runner, right?
Yeah, that's like.
Well, thanks for trying to throw me off here.
I'm sorry.
It's okay.
I'll get back to that big glorious wing.
It is a big glorious wing that they have.
Oh, yeah.
And they used a wind tunnel, which I guess was kind of.
Faux pas.
No, I guess it was sort of like a newish thing at the time.
Even though in 1927 the slug, they had the Sunbeam slug.
They had a wind tunnel.
That's the one that broke the 200 mile per hour.
Well, then I call bullshit.
Yeah.
Well, this is what I saw on the one video that I watched.
Okay.
Yeah.
I did only watch one video for this answer.
I didn't like totally check, but I did actually.
I saw a lot of other videos that had the same title.
Verified.
Yeah, exactly.
I was exactly.
So it was built to win the NASCAR races.
And it wasn't just horsepower.
Also, the shape came into play.
This is where the wind tunnel comes into play.
I had a super pointed nose and it had that massive rear wing,
that ubiquitous massive rear wing.
And the wing was above the trunk and it created downforce
and stability at extreme speeds.
And the thing about the NASCAR.
Oppressive wing force.
Stock cars.
Yeah, exactly.
Expressive downforce is you had to produce 500 straight
legal versions of the race car and they actually made 503.
I came with the 448 Magnum V8 375 horsepower or the 426
Hemi V8 of which they only sold 70 of those.
And I'm assuming that the NASCAR had the 426 Hemi.
This car dominated NASCAR and in 1970 at Talladega,
Buddy Baker broke 200 miles per hour on a closed course.
Wow.
So this was a production vehicle that anyone could buy.
Sorry.
What year was that?
69.
69.
And they made 500 of them.
Next we have some people claim it's the Pontiac Tojian.
Have you ever heard of this car?
Never.
No one has.
In my life.
That's because no one has.
Tojiam.
The Pontiac Tojiam.
The Pontiac Tojiam.
Okay, the Pontiac Tojiam goes 200 miles per hour.
There's your headline.
Write it, kid.
In 1985, it was $30,000 which would be $85,000 today.
They made 150 of them.
So according to AI, Hagerty, and Carbuzz.com.
So all verified.
Yeah, all verified.
The Pontiac Tojian was the first production car to reach 200 miles an hour.
And what year is that?
That was in 1985.
That's what I thought you said.
Yeah.
So quite a bit after 1969.
No Jaguar?
I wonder if this...
I thought for sure Jag was going to be in this.
I wonder if this was the only U.S. production cars.
Great.
Did I do the wrong...
Oh, no.
Oh, no.
I googled production car.
Because we do have a European car coming in.
We've got three cars in the Continental.
Yeah, okay.
No, no, no.
So let me...
I don't...
I don't know.
I didn't google American production cars.
I just googled production car.
What was the first 200-mile power production car?
And there was three answers.
Okay.
Highly contested.
So, the Pontiac Tojian.
Big gaps.
What?
Big gaps.
Yeah, big gaps.
How many of these Pontiac Tojians were made?
150.
What gives?
So it was a project between Pontiac and Knudsen Automotive,
which was a custom coach builder.
It kind of looked like a cross between a Porsche and a 300Z.
And not like the Porsche...
Like, I don't know the Porsche numbers,
but not like a Porsche 911.
I know that one.
But like a Porsche...
I don't know.
A different one.
Not a 911.
It looks like a cross between that and a 300Z.
Anyway, that's...
So not a 911 Porsche.
Just picture that one.
Yeah, okay.
Easy, easy done.
Yeah.
In stock form, it had an L98.
It was 5.7 liter V8.
It would produce between 270 and 300 horsepower.
It was tuned by Gail Banks, was a tuning expert.
He took one of these and he put forged internals
and upgraded fuel injection.
And that was an option.
These were options that nobody bought.
So this is a one-off of this Pontiac Tojian.
5.7 liter twin-turbo V8, four-speed auto,
rear-wheel drive, 800 horsepower,
torque 800 to 900 feet,
top speed 206 miles per hour.
So it was a special project with Pontiac Newton Automotive
and Gail Banks.
One magazine speculated that Tojian might overshadow
Trans-Am is the Pontiac Halo car.
What?
But basically, because it was so expensive
and complicated, GM didn't really market it.
What the fuck is this car?
They sold some at dealers.
But yeah, it was a low volume production car
and the twin-turbo version was production based,
but they didn't make more than the one.
Well, Maserati already beat him to that on 81
as far as a first.
Twin-turbo, yeah, exactly.
And its achievements did predate the Ferrari F40
and so it legitimately makes its claims to glory,
supposedly.
And now in 1987, we have the Ferrari F40,
which goes in at 201.4 miles an hour.
So is it the Dodge Daytona?
Is it the Pontiac Tojian or is it the Ferrari F40?
I didn't get production numbers on the Ferrari F40
because I'm assuming they're much more than the Daytona
or the Tojian.
I'm kind of going to say the Daytona because 500,
much more than the Tojian is like a one-of-one.
It's so weird.
But can you say that a car that was taken by a NASCAR pit crew
and made to break 200 miles an hour
is a 200 mile an hour production car?
I mean, that's weird.
But can you say a Tojian, a one-of-one Tojian?
By a tune by Gale Banks.
And it was 800 horsepower?
Yeah.
And that's what's funny is that did you say
that the other car made 300 horsepower?
The production car made 300 horsepower.
So is the one that they tuned with 800 horsepower
the one that went 200 miles an hour?
Yeah.
Did they all go 200 miles an hour?
No, it's the one that's a one-of-one.
They did the twin turbo, internal forged internals.
I hate it.
One-of-one.
So is it the Ferrari F40 then that was the first one?
Legitimately.
I don't want to accept any of these answers.
Fine.
We can go back to the Sunbeam Slug,
clocking in at 203 miles per hour in 1927.
Yeah, I think, yeah, I think,
looking at all of the information laid out,
yeah, I wish you had just told me about the slug.
I did.
We talked about it last week.
No, I just, I just mean like,
never mention the Pontiac Tojian to me.
I'm kidding.
I will look in the show notes to see what the shape of it is,
but I've never heard of it.
I don't ever want to hear of it again.
I don't know who Homer Simpson is.
I've never met Homer Simpson.
Fine.
But I fear him.
Okay.
What do you think?
What do you think the official one is?
Well, it kind of was on the Daytona,
because I was like, that one is the oldest.
It's that same engine that was in the NASCAR car.
So the 70's a pretty low production number.
Do you think like somebody out on a country road
tried to break 200 miles an hour?
I wonder how many people died trying to break 200 miles an hour.
That's a different statement all the way.
I don't know.
That's really fast.
That's really fast on a public road.
Yeah.
Also with like, it's not like the technology of tires and all this.
I mean, there's a lot of things that could go wrong.
And then the F40 just does it.
It's not spruced up or anything.
No, that's just there.
Yeah.
That's pretty impressive.
Well, I didn't read about it.
That feels like it to me.
If like that's the car you can just buy and go 200 miles an hour.
Well, here's the thing is I didn't do that much research on the F40.
Because I was like, oh yeah, that's a given.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's fine.
But I guess, I mean, I would assume that the Ferrari F40 just came as a Ferrari F40
and that was like, I mean, they monkey around with like, here's a racing one
and here's our people one.
Did they just sell racing cars to everyone?
Yeah, I mean, I think that's their MO.
Yeah.
I don't know.
But we did have old Jarrod J wrote in and said, or Jarrod G, Jarrod J, Jarrod G,
he said, oh, I feel I need to know my guess is the Dodge Daytona.
Okay.
So he nailed it.
Yeah.
So he got it.
How does he win?
He got it.
He wins this fake lighter.
Oh, fake lighter.
It's green.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I've got some fake picks.
Okay.
Yeah.
Wow.
Congratulations.
Jarrod G, you won.
But we didn't, we also didn't say that that was the first one.
We can't decide.
I mean, yeah, I still think, yeah, I think that they, I feel like we're going with the
Ferrari.
I agree.
But because I think you could just buy it and do it.
Well, maybe I didn't do my job either.
And I didn't actually research the Ferrari.
So I took it, sort of took it for granted.
That's the answer we're trying to get here.
I took it for granted that the Ferrari would just be like, everybody's mad because you
didn't do your homework.
I know.
Oh my God.
Shit.
There's a lot riding on this.
Somebody's week is just going right down the crapper.
Oh God.
Circle in the drain.
Oh geez.
Two to three flushes.
Wow.
All right.
Well, I'm out.
That's all mine.
That's all I got.
What about you?
Well, I asked what is the lowest power Corvette to which I instantly tried to answer my Corvette.
Well, you're not wrong.
I found a really interesting article on CorvetteForum.com.
Okay.
And it was the most power and the least power.
So it goes back and you get one slide each for, you know, most and least.
Okay.
So it was good.
It was a cool article and it starts the very first one is least powerful 1981 C3 190 horsepower.
Yeah.
My Honda Accord has like 225 or something.
Yeah.
My 94 astro motor makes 190 with six cylinders.
Wow.
So the 50s, that was the really the first one.
So the number five on this list was my least powerful is the 81.
Okay.
So we're going to go lower than 190 horsepower.
Wow.
Now it jumps up to, you know, the next one is a powerful one, which these were interesting
because the, the most powerful, like number five, like the lowest of the high power cars
they're going to list here makes 655 horsepower.
Damn.
That's a C8 e-ray.
Wow.
655 forces.
Do you know how much land that would take up if you had to have a chariot?
It says power comes from the same LT2 found in the C8 Stingray, but it is enhanced by
an electric motor.
Oh.
That's the two and a half seconds zero to 60 time.
Whoa.
Oh, do you think that's why it has instant torque?
It says in parentheses with some outlets doing even better than that outlets.
Some outlets that you plug it into news outlets.
I don't know.
I don't know what that's supposed to mean.
So then it just like starts going down C3s basically.
Okay.
Oh boy.
Like 78 the base C3 185 horse 78 was lower than 81.
I thought 81 was the lowest of all the C3s, but wow, I'm surprised.
It says the 78 cars look great and they sold extremely well, but the base model examples
were some of the weakest ever made.
I mean, that's a fact.
Yeah.
The next one like going down just goes down to 180 horse.
So I wasn't as interested in the most powerful cars because that's not the question I asked.
No, it's not.
But I thought this list was cool.
So shout out to Corvetteforum.com for this good article.
It's cool.
Corvetteforum.
Least powerful.
Again, now we're headed to the 76 77 base C3 and then also 1980 California emissions
C3 180 horsepower.
I mean, it's it says the LG for 1980 Corvette pictured here was sold by street side classics
for less than 20 K.
Are you are you sitting on a $20,000 car?
Wait, what?
Sometimes some of these car prices.
I'm like, are these real?
I these are not Craigslist fines.
Yeah.
Who's paying this for these C3's?
I don't know.
I feel like people would give away C3's.
Yeah.
I kind of almost got mine that way.
I mean, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Now I maybe it's a really nice C3.
Now I jumped to most powerful because I was like wanted to know.
Okay.
And this says it says the 2025 ZR ones rain is Corvette King was mighty but short because
the ZR one X was waiting in the wings.
Rumors have given the world a glimpse of how the turbo I'm sorry of how the 2026 ZR one
X would be set up.
Take the twin turbo LT seven drivetrain from the ZR one and then give it a front electric
axle hybrid system similar to what's found in the e-brae.
But we were wrong about the two things one that it would be called the Zora after the
legendary.
It says Corvette engineers.
I think they means engineer Zora.
Oh, yeah.
And then we underestimated how far team Corvette would push the horsepower.
The end result all wheel drive 1250 horsepower Corvette that is yet to be publicly tested.
But we do know it can also hit 233 miles per hour without the arrow package in parentheses.
And GM is looking for a sub two second zero to 60 mile per hour time and a sub nine second
quarter mile time.
Whoa, which is quite literally hypercar numbers.
And if we're being honest with ourselves acceleration capabilities from all electric supercars is
an electric car.
It's hyper.
Oh, hybrid.
Yeah.
It says the front axles electric.
Well, electric does have instant torque 1200 horsepower zero to 60 in they're hoping for
less than two seconds.
Wow.
Wow.
That's articles from like last year.
So this might already be out.
I don't know.
I need to be a funny daddy.
But I'm like, that sounds so dangerous.
It is.
Seriously.
It is like, yeah, imagine being a jerk and then getting pissed off in that car.
It's like pointing a missile at somebody.
Oh, God.
Okay.
Least powerful number one.
We kind of knew this was the answer, but it's like the 53 to 54 with 150 horsepower
because they were sixes.
Yeah.
But like that doesn't really count.
I'm leaning back into the 7677.
How come the 50s doesn't count?
Oh, we knew the six cylinder would make the least power, but like that's sort of like
not funny.
Okay.
The C three with VA power.
Yeah.
That is funny.
Like it's 20 horse away.
Well, 30.
Sorry.
Yeah.
Wow.
180 to 150 horse.
Jeez.
Jeez.
It says they, you know, 150 horse in line six made it to a two speed automatic yuck.
This tepid combination nearly killed the Corvette just two years into its existence.
Thankfully.
VA arrived in 1955 and the rest is history.
That's it.
The least powerful Corvette is we knew it.
It's in the seventies.
I mean, again, technically it's the six.
It's the six cylinder.
Yeah.
The 81.
Mine is the fifth one though.
I can't believe I'm all the way at fifth.
Yeah.
Yours was up there.
Yeah.
You've got somewhere to go.
So let me ask you this.
What?
What does a 1910 Pierce arrow six cylinder engine bore have in common with the average,
average Corvette owner's dick?
Average Corvette owner's dick.
Yeah.
The bore.
The size.
I don't know what size it is though.
They're both about five or six inches.
Isn't that the stroke?
No, the stroke seven inches on a Pierce arrow.
So they're five or six inches diameter zero six cylinder is a five inch piston with a
seven inch stroke, making it a 13 and a half liter.
Wow.
825 cubic inches.
Wow.
Wow.
Well, that's big.
That's just depending on which one you're talking about.
That's just, yeah, that's just a Corvette joke.
I made up.
I'm sorry.
It's all I got.
Dick jokes.
It's what I'm working with.
All these dick jokes over here.
I know.
I know.
You and your dick jokes.
I know.
Dick jokes.
So what's your question for next week?
I'm going to keep with my speed theme.
Oh, speed.
Because I was thinking.
Emily's just going to only ask two of our questions.
Well, I started thinking about it and I was like.
In perpetuity.
I was like 200 miles per hour.
Like we came from horses.
This is good performance art.
I love this.
Well, literally it was horses, right?
Yeah.
200 mile an hour horses and 200 miles an hour is like pretty
extreme and that's coming from a modern standpoint.
I mean, I think a hundred is extreme.
Yeah, that's too.
But you know what else?
You know what else was extreme?
60.
60 miles an hour.
I can't drive 55.
Well, an American quarter horse and I don't think they were
around at the way that they are now at the turn of the century.
No, they were.
I'm sure, but they probably weren't bred to the point that
they're bred to now.
They can do bursts of up to 55 miles an hour.
That's a really short burst.
They're a cow horse.
Cow horse thoroughbred can do.
I think the fastest one was 44.3 miles an hour.
So horses can go kind of fast, but I think 60 miles an hour
might have been like a big deal.
And I swear to God, this is the last speed question I'm going
to answer for now or ask or answer or whatever.
So that's it.
What was the first 60 mile per hour car?
And this can be production or land speed.
We don't care.
I don't care either or.
There could be a huge gap between that.
Yeah, there could be a huge gap.
Kind of like there's a huge gap in the 1927 to 1969.
That is huge.
It's huge.
It just goes to kind of show you how far behind manufacturers
are from like what's possible.
Just because they do have to appease a larger.
They have to hold on to laws and they have to like, you know,
sell to the masses.
Okay, sure.
I mean, they also tape.
I mean, yeah, I guess so.
They also do R&D that everybody else kind of gets like steel.
Yeah, true.
What's your question?
My question this week is what is the first.
Okay.
The very first.
It's a first.
What was the first White House official car?
Oh, official.
I guess, I guess what is the first like White House associated
car?
You mean the one that the president.
Yeah.
Wrote in?
Yeah.
Because the president can't drive, right?
I guess the law.
The president can't drive.
It's my new movie.
It's against the law.
As soon as you become president, driver's license.
Revoked.
Yeah.
Gone.
It's over.
No more.
We can't have you behind the wheel.
All right.
Well, interesting.
Yeah.
Think about it.
Ask your friends.
Ask your neighbors.
Ask somebody that you work with.
Ask somebody that you just ran into at the store.
Yeah.
Ask somebody that you're getting a divorce from.
Oh, yeah.
That's a good one.
Definitely ask your boss right after you ask for a raise.
Yeah.
Or maybe use that as the lead in to asking for it.
But like ask that question and then like, and then at the end,
just be like, maybe I could get some more money.
I think that's a good way to do it.
What was the first White House associated car?
Maybe I could get some more money.
See, look at that.
You've done the work for everyone.
Perfect.
Then you may get the answer followed very quickly by a raise.
If things go your way.
Yeah.
And then you can write into us and you can get a prize.
If we could do that for you.
No, the raise.
Stop giving stuff away.
We didn't.
We can't do it.
The lawyers keep saying stop giving stuff away.
Last time it was the recording equipment.
We're going to lose the studio.
It was air.
It was just fresh air.
Emily's just giving it all away.
Geez.
Geez.
Well, anyway, you've been brain busted.
Yeah, I get your brain busted.
Busted.
Bye.
Bye.
