LIVE
Rose EP30: an extreme pothole. I've been there,
Emily EP30: Okay. She has, she is, this
Emily EP30: I guess I don't know how big my car is. The thing is with the Corvette, I don't hit curbs.
And she also called me a badass, which was cool Emily EP30: yeah, it was like that. It really was. Anyway, she called me badass.
Rose EP30: I mean, I had the Volvo special spare. Like mine was like museum quality. I
Emily EP30: Oh, good. Okay. 'cause that's the way it should be.
Emily EP30: So I pull over on, Gleason and I check it out, nothing's going on. And I'm like, well, I'm gonna, maybe the lug nuts are loose.
Emily EP30: Maybe not over tight, but they're pretty damn tight. And then I go to my appointment and I'm like, God, it is really, I'm going slow. Like, thank God the speed limit's like 2025. I was so bumed on that. I was like, I am going
Emily EP30: Yeah. So I went to my appointment, it's an hour, whatever. I come back and I kind of don't think about looking at my tire wheel combo because I'm like, it's just gonna clunk home. And then I get home and I'm like, wow. Now it's really clunky.
Emily EP30: Okay. Because I, I wasn't driving on it. It wasn't, I mean, I felt it and it wasn't like, you can see because your car, it wasn't like smushed down or anything. Mm-hmm. Anyway, that was my day today. So tomorrow I gotta call aaa, I gotta get towed to the tire place.
Emily EP30: Yeah. Nobody would do it. Yeah. I'm not gonna roll any get on the bus with it now. I've, I've had to, I've had to get on the bus with an alternator before. Okay. And you know, that was fine. Yeah. It's also like people kind of stare at you.
Rose EP30: you know? Uh, Ken Yez, who we spoke about in another episode, he's a, friend of Faye Butler, one of my mentors, and Ken, you know, has built concept cars like his whole life.
Rose EP30: That wasn't, yeah, that part wasn't a part of the story, but that's what I thought of. I was just like, that is a, that's a distance that's not like Louisville to Chicago or something that you're, you know, like,
he said that his aunt had like a model T or something and that she had broke down and, uh, was trying to change the tire and that a limousine pulled up and the driver got out and took the tire, had it repaired, and came back with it and gave it to her Rose EP30: Yeah. But also, um, yeah, I mean that's like a, that's probably a 40
Emily EP30: Yeah, I've heard, that. I thought they had good housing though.
Emily EP30: Okay. And then those people would go into the melting pot, which is a huge wardrobe or something, the
Emily EP30: Oh God. So I'm assuming that wasn't very popular.
Emily EP30: this one guy used the, uh, term petrolhead, like this will excite some petrolhead in talking about an electric vehicle.
Emily EP30: huh? Yeah. 'cause if you're hauling a lot of stuff, you need more torque than you need. Horsepower isn't really that big
Rose EP30: It depends if you rigged it or not. You just, wanna wrap a chain around it.
Rose EP30: Yeah. It happened to our tobacco barn, you know, it's just terrible.
Emily EP30: I'm driving real life better? Shifting than real shifting. Yeah. You mean fake shifting? Virtual shifting. Virtual shifting.
Rose EP30: new, your new car, your new Kia comes to this deadly coce. I don't think it would. Um, and, uh, a digital cross track, cross tracking. Is that a, is that a thing?
Emily EP30: paddle shifts.
You know, he is like 456 cross Ram B floor induction in and like the, even the people he is picking up on the side of the road know he is saying nothing, you know? But he is like doing his best to recite all the topics and, yeah,
Emily EP30: Yeah. You know when you, yeah. When you feel the like power switch.
So you have to get in, I mean, I read the rules. There's like time punk, there's all these weird different things. But if that's a thing, if electro punk is a thing,
Rose EP30: I'm trying to make anything about this car seem exciting, but it's, it's, Emily EP30: Yeah. Most of the cars that I see with the screens, they don't, they're not integrated into the dash really.
Rose EP30: That's weak. What else you got?
Rose EP30: it does. It looks like when Dennis de Menace replaces Mr. Wilson's teeth with chits Exciting. 2026 is gonna be exciting. New car
Emily EP30: I mean maybe they, I was thinking maybe the solar powered charging, but I don't think you can solar power that much juice quickly.
Rose EP30: probably want a diesel generator at that point.
finally had enough. 2026 has just become no horizon left, and you just go total Kowalski pedal to the floor and you're 1500 horsepower truck, and then it winds up pushing the bulldozers outta the way, and you have to continue on to 2027.
Rose EP30: weld the wheel arches on.
Rose EP30: that'd be the fastest. And then, and then the next one is the Corvette Ranger. You know, like. Uh, the top one. Then you've got the flame thrower. That's the top, that's top line Corvette, flame
Emily EP30: Liz, that's up. Barbie's, Corvette
Emily EP30: You got a fox bat. And so yeah, that's what we think. Solid. Like come on Chevy help us here. Something I thought was funny is there's
Rose EP30: this one was like, it was irrelevant. It was a zero to 200 time.
Rose EP30: Oh my God. You'll look fantastic.
Rose EP30: if there were a shortage of cars, people would still be driving the Chevy Lumina, Rose EP30: wildly expensive. Once upon a time, a friend at a dealership hooked me up and got me a little ball socket for the shifter on a T five transmission. That was amazing. Other than that, uh, nothing good ever comes of it.
Rose EP30: You know, one of my coworkers was telling me about that, like he was helping his brother-in-law or his cousin or something, break in a motor and same thing ate, a lobe off and send all this metal through the oil pump. And so it was like, you know, this motor that he'd spent a ton of money on it, the machine shop and now they gotta go back through it again and clean it all out, have it hot, tanked and
Rose EP30: Yeah. 'cause they're fucking junk. Same thing if you're running like a Ford alternator, the externally regulated ones, you're probably carrying a couple of those voltage regulators. 'cause they go out all the time too. And the same thing with like the Mopar Ignition modules and the auto craft ones, or the auto light ones for like the sixties, late sixties, HEI from Ford, same thing.
So many people get TBI now instead of going carb. So I
Rose EP30: the 3 50, 3 50 combo, yeah, nobody runs it anymore, but like it's tried and true. You could put just dump an Edelbrock 1406 on top of there and just drive away.
Rose EP30: But that's still, not to say that you still couldn't get a classic and throw an eel brock on it and drive it or a straight six with a Rochester B or you know, I really like the auto light two barrel, like the 2100.
So like you pick an old one, it's an investment. You pick an old car you like. And I used to, when California, I'd call 'em outlaw bodies because it's like. If you were past the, limit for smog 74 and beyond, nobody's ever gonna inspect your car. But if it's above that, then you had to, if you wanted to, you could put another motor in, but it had to be smog compliant for what year that motor came out.
Rose EP30: you're gonna make heat no matter what. You're not gonna make air conditioning unless you roll down your window and drive fast.
Rose EP30: Giant Swiss rolls.
Emily EP30: it leaks, but I, when I had the TransAm, I da the TransAm. Okay. Because it's the only car I had.
Emily EP30: Yeah, I don't think, I think that we could not build new stuff for at least a year and like, like we have enough cars. Like there's enough,
Like you have to ship the cars. You have to ship the cars here in a boat, then you have to put them on
Is she gonna wanna figure out how to work on her car? I mean, that might be maybe for her
Rose EP30: See, I think nineties cars are really good for this. Like the Subaru legacy or like, yeah, I don't know. Or like geo prisms. I love seeing a prism out there, like a 94 or 93.
Rose EP30: don't know, I just think it's, I think it's smart. I mean, it's not practical for everything. And I'll admit that there are times where I'm just sort of like, all right, and I pat the dash and I'm like, thanks for getting me there one more round.
Emily EP30: It's a little mini. SUV. Because you just get a lot of space that way.
Rose EP30: You do get to a head gasket around, I think 200,000 in the, two forties.
Rose EP30: I mean, California was like that 'cause you could just drive many times and like same thing, you just see like Ford trucks are still working.
I think like a, Ooh, you know what'd be good though? You know what I've been wanting is like a caprice or like a Caprice wagon.
I don't know. Look, look, don't, don't buy a new car for the love of God. Please. I hope that, I hope that these repelled you away and then you were like, yeah, you know what? I'm gonna buy the El Camino. I hope you do that this week. Go behind the El
Rose EP30: It's a very modest number. I mean, we've seen it, we've seen it grow
