straight into it so for over 50 years terrain tamer been making four-wheel drive parts that have
been designed manufactured and tested to withstand some of the harshest conditions Australia has to
offer we've tested them i literally just put a terrain tamer fuel filter um into my car when
on the weekend oh right i was that going to be a when did i ask i thought you were going to get me
there i thought i answered it so quickly as well i was sorry when i asked was just then so yeah
well i thought i was going to get hit there or something but terrain tamer tip of the week so
this one's from our good mate hamish colton oh yeah great mate the big your
great mate the Turk um big fan of the podcast and we love hamish so he says use your vehicle as a
windbreak uh park it so it shelters your tent or cooking area from prevailing winds but avoid parking
under dead branches or widow makers as he calls them and i thought that's a great tip for dougan
it's a great tip for dougan just for me just for you mate no no no purely a good tip for you
no it is a great tip uh i actually don't mind that from the Turk and the use of the word prevailing
i know prevailing winds very nice from the Turk it's it's high it's up here yeah it's it's classy
that's a classy word it's good tip though good tip no and honestly great tip i've
i used that so obviously i was away and we'll get to that yeah um up to us so you've used that use
that tip yeah have you not used that tip you don't park your car like when you can the one time i used
that the winds were um so prevailing that too prevailing just swept under the car and was like
my head was like lifting in the swag because it was just blasting under but um no that i i do i
enjoy that tip especially for the cooking aspect yeah jizak can really just i really get to set up
the kitchen away from the car or something like that and all of a sudden the wind picks up out
of nowhere yeah pretty cooked yeah um i actually used so i used that when i was in or winder bandy
up at ningaloo yep couple couple years ago part of the car so the car was blocking the wind
but the wind was coming underneath the car like you're saying yeah um actually i think i had a
camper trailer when i was up there so it might have been the camper trailer that it was going
on anyway the wind was going under one thing so i had to stack max tracks um boards anything i could
along the the side the driver's side of the car or i had to stack all that up and like pile it up
with sand and stuff and like digging um sand and putting it up and just trying to build just a barrier
so that's a tip on a tip there there's a tip on a tip and another tip um that's a decent tip from
the turk and he does a big tip from the turk does have a decent tip here if i'm honest though um
but anyway no that's good he's got a big troopy too so that helps yeah he's got a big
ask you to put in the way yep he's a he's a good man hamish i like it thanks turk um we'll move
forward onto in the running oh he's in the running there he could he could he's in
the one he's in the running um on the radar i've got a little did you know kind of thing for you
um i didn't know and you've obviously you've obviously read it so you know it now but did you
know before so bosh the company bosh yeah um did you know that they're 94 owned by a charitable
foundation and nearly all of the dividends from their company go to that foundation i no i had
no idea about that no idea robert bosh he set it up in his will before he died in 1942 it's a lot
a while ago um two basically set it up as the charitable foundation so it's part of his will
so basically what it is is the foundation owns the shares but has no voting power yep a separate
trust the robert bosh and i'm not going to say this industry trehund holds 93 of the votes with
no shares and yeah all of all of the dividends go straight into charity and they do a whole bunch
of different um research and yeah yeah right there are a huge company though massive company
so 330 million australian dollars like a u d per year gets put into that foundation i wonder what
they're i wonder what they're making overall indicate the well they're still making profit like
they can still they obviously still paint this is just the dividends but yeah it's insane so if
you buy from bosh it's basically going into charity it's a donation yeah it's basically a
donation uh in the can you claim that on tax in actually i don't know in the forward drive market
though like i'm thinking bosh windscreen wipers windscreen wipers i don't know what else they
do they do like induction cookers and stuff i don't know if they do induction cookers but
obviously like if you're working in your car and you're getting tools or yeah anything like that you
can get bosh and bosh or um i like how you say bosh bosh bosh you can really give it a little
no that's cool that is pretty awesome i thought it was pretty cool and that's like imagine it has the
the foresight from the man himself so yeah in 1942 he passed away but signed it all up to
stay that way forever there there was another company i believe that um set up a similar thing
so the founder in his will was like yep here's how we're doing it we're going to make it a charitable
foundation so that when you purchase from us or like when all of our dividends they basically go to
charity yeah um and then it didn't last as long i wonder if he knew the size of the company would

because all i could really find for you were y62 patrols um and a couple of older 200 series land
cruisers now i don't know the weight or the size of the the van that you're telling i know it's a
custom it's a custom creation custom one so i'm either thinking it's like really expensive and
massive or it's it's basically all custom done i'm thinking buying by himself or you know like
it's a complete van you've never seen before kind of thing or it's like one of those so that's the
one thing i don't know he built it the caravan okay it's a one ton caravan that
opens up so much more which i probably should have found out because they've been toying with the
carnival yeah that's right yeah so that the key carnival it's funny what popped up so like i'm
voting for a y62 patrol you can find them for $40,000 i have saved a few here what about an everest
hang on sorry let me get sorry no i'm getting ahead of myself you go yes an everest the everest
has popped up the the newer um three liter six cylinder everest yeah you do lack a little bit
space in the boot of that car if you're utilizing all seven seats or the back row which you will be
the patrols have a little bit of room in them still big cars big cars the 200s
similar probably in between the everest and the patrol for terms in terms of size in the back
of that car with the seats being used my pick would be a y62 for them you can get you will have
you could have potentially money in the bank you can find them for 40 grand basically you could
save yourself some coin there and use that elsewhere a lot of the 200s they just write down 50
like that's just they're just a 50k car almost still they are around but you're sort of getting
up there in kilometers like some of the y62s under 150,000 k sort of thing or nearby and you're paying
40 45 grand for them which i think is pretty pretty decent with with a couple of basic
accessories on them too like these aren't just stock standard still the ones that like now they're
coming out of the key carnival so the ones that popped up were like the Volkswagen multi-vans
and stuff like that like later model multi-vans i couldn't remember the size of the van but they
would definitely be able to tow that no worries um you're not going too far off-road in these but
you wouldn't have been in a carnival either so that's why i'm thinking go to the four-wheel drive
like a y62 where you can get yourself off the beaten track a little bit um but i didn't mind
as a as an alternative i didn't mind the the Volkswagen multi-man now the other one that
was the the left the left of field choice that i found and i almost am like could i do this myself
i just sell the cruiser and buy one of these okay no okay it's not gonna happen okay well
if bogie's into it i'd respect it highly well if it's making you think that you're gonna sell
the cruiser no i mean i wouldn't but you wouldn't but it's it's popped through your head i wouldn't
but it's like it's it's a cool it yeah and a slice of history in a way holding suburban so
these things uh that is history that mate i'm telling you so i've got the see i've got like
just for reference i don't i'm not sure where bogie is either but um nissan patrol 2013
nissan patrol ti l 40 grand down 125 000 k's obviously it's the auto it's got that that beautiful v8
engine in it um the luxury it's a luxury model like the l like it's the the top the top end of the
top end um but there's another one 45 in w a for 2013 nissan patrol with bull bar snorkel roof rack
all of that really cleaned on 173 000 um the land cruiser they've done a few more k's and
sort of still ask the same price that's why i'm kind of like and they're a little bit older
i mean you get that that vdj engine but i don't know like i still think the patrols are
at just as reliable um maybe not just as reliable because i was yeah um but anyway check out this
98 99 holding suburban so if bogie's into it i am all for this it's 192 000 k's
yeah it's a petrol it's a v8 and it's it's got seven seats like you're gonna fit everyone in
but i'm just having another look at it now it is it is awesome i've brought up a couple holding
suburban here just to look at and they are there's a few around too like and they're all around
i thought they were gone right i'd i'd not seen one on the roads i don't think i've seen one
all i'm saying is that like honestly bogie probably this is the one my pick is a patrol
no no it's not for a change up uh the land cruisers are there they always will be the the
Volkswagen multi-band for a little bit more of an updated version of the carnival potentially a
few nicer mods and cons and it looks pretty slick uh but the holds the bourbon for mine
absolutely that's where i'm a bogie it's not even a question it's the suburban you have to get the
suburban bogie if you don't get the suburban there's something wrong there's a little bit of a left
field uh car sale search for bogie under the 50k mate it's about 30 grand you got 20 obviously
here was the suburban 99 this one oh mate 99 so anyway that's that's that's mine that's mine
it has to be the suburban it just has to be it's it's probably a bought one it's probably already
bought a patrol yeah he's probably figured it out too which is fair enough like the patrol's
probably the smart option yeah uh he called up craig the crayfishman the other week he loves his
patrol yeah he loves it yeah he's got a warrior the newer ones yeah we we put a few obviously we
talked about the the last of the patrols last what last week or the week before um and put up a few
socials around that and there's a lot of people commenting like just photos of their y62s or
like even the old gqs i'm loving it people just commenting just like check out my
root yeah look at the flex on it like yeah it's a cool they are they're bloody cool they're sick
they're wicked cars mate let's jump in you you've been away finally one of us i know has gone camping
why no for two nights 22 nights three days it was beautiful where'd you go so i went up uh just
south of cal barry um there's a beautiful little campground camp area um under there it's probably
about 20 30 minutes uh underneath cal barry yep and uh you can camp back behind the dunes um they've
got like toilets um long drops and all that kind of stuff there um which is like really clean yeah
very very clean facilities and stuff um or you can drive a bit further and you can go camp on the
beach but you'd need a chemical toilet um if you're gonna do that um i we ended up staying on the
beach and um yeah that was just beautiful man so the first night stayed a little bit south
further down from the kind of main campsite area and then the second night we went all the way up
um a little bit further and there's a little lagoon kind of um inlet area so like uh it's all
probably like a hundred meters off the shore is like a full rocky um area that like kind of stops
the waves coming in and then that that protects that little yeah the green area there yeah and that
that was the that was unreal because you can't on top of like a little kind of a small dune
just before you get to the beach so on top of the dune it was it was beautiful and you got nice weather
beautiful weather so sunny the entire time i think it was 25 and sunny uh uv was at five
or six yeah mate it was hand up a little bit yeah oh i didn't really get out in the budgies mate i was
out in the budgies uh basically i mean not nude but basically nude um no couldn't catch a tan oh right
okay sorry yeah um no i don't think the uv was was quite up where where it needs to be for for the
tan but mate water was if you get a nice if you get nice weather up that way without sorry you'll get
plenty of sun plenty of time but if there's no wind up there that's pretty well a special place
that goes on isn't it it was unreal so the wind was down um pretty much the entire time it picked up
a little bit uh but not anything where you're like oh fuck this it's blowing out my fire it's blowing
out the um the cooker like it's causing a habit no it was just perfect the water was cool but once
it was it was just refreshing beautiful i swam out to to the rock came back in um yeah it
was magic it was magic mate it was so good and it was just so good and did you sort of get away
from Perth and get into some some nice weather and just get on the beach and away from everything
like i had the phone did you mainly park up and just hang about yeah pretty much pretty much so
what do we do left monday morning um to head up there and i was telling you just
before we left because we did the potty on sunday yeah and i was telling you that we might not be
going because um the missus was sick but ended up all good yeah left monday morning um drove up stopped
at uh not durian bay was it durian lemmon no not lemmon south under under savannah's
no not savannah's um anyway stopped it stopped at one of the towns on the way up uh was it lano
might have been land something far away no i think i think it was so we stopped at lano
right um sorry i'm all over the place i stopped stopped at lano got a pie and a hunt brew did
yeah oh mate the hunt drew went down an absolute trait i'll tell you that much and the pie as well
layered it up with sauce got some feedback on that as well by the way
ah strip light and it's just falling down that's all right um yeah got some feedback
on the source apparently overloaded it but okay that's all right it's fair enough i like with this
sauce a bit of pie of my sauce it's all i wanted um and then yeah went up to durian
stopped there um grabbed a towel and then because i forgot a towel ah yeah and then um there's always
something that goes headed up and then yeah we made it to to the campsite and then as we're
driving in there's a big sign that just goes cash only cash only no like always cash and last time
the the previous times i've been there it's just been f-posts like you can you can do that yeah
but it was like cash only cash only so i had to um jump out um head back to head up to calvary yeah
grab some cash and then head back oh head back in um and yeah it was just great it was
just a wicked time so got there on monday excuse me stayed there then spent in pretty much half
the day on tuesday um there headed into calvary um again for a couple uh couple things yeah and then
back into the campsite good to know that it's cash only for people if they're going up there yeah
cash only i don't know why yeah it was all so you drove you got in there and then
realized it was cash only then went back out yeah so so we rocked in at like 5 30 so the sun
was literally setting as we're rocking in so then we had to go 20 minutes into calvary um and by the
time we get to calvary it's dark what time did you leave monday morning would have left around 9
30 10 o'clock but because we stopped a little bit along the way like we stopped a little bit
along the way that it was part of six hours pretty much mate it is the best part of six
hours and like we made good time getting there yeah um you reckon well with all the stops mate
with all the stops we made good time i would say start calling your buddy jade and darl getting
there in the dark literally mate we find camp in in darkness or whatever in darkness we find in
darkness we find camp uh yeah nah mate it was it was sick the the interesting thing that we did
when we were driving up there it was i spent about 30 minutes timed it counting how many people
waved back at me talk to me about this so this mate how are the people of western Australia
oh really pathetic absolutely sad so i waved 65 times you waved in that in that 30 minute
theory 65 different cars waved to 65 different cars traffic how in 30 minutes
mate and this was under geraldton this would have been between well durian and and gero like it was
so half an hour between there somewhere pretty much mate like around that area um and it pretty
much between durian and lame and like that was i was six sent out 65 waves gee how many do you
think i got back you'd like say half at least give me give me a guess mate you reckon uh so 65
waves 30 30 no really not even close really didn't even crack double digits what didn't even crack
double digits i got nine returned waves oh geez yep
pathetic it's pathetic yeah wow i would have thought more than nine no nine some
some elite waves where they get the full five hand uh five fingers off off the stream
versus like hello how are you and i was like that's good that's almost worth double but it's not um
well yeah how much time are you giving the the parcel so i see the car
about three seconds yeah and then it's at me that plenty of time
yeah it's pretty disappointing looks looks like whatever we're doing here's not working
not well we need to obviously get a bit more going um but it was pretty disappointing to
only get nine back yeah so i was really hoping for ten but of the 30 minutes past um i think ten
is under still tens well low expectations mate i just want to double digits is that too much to
ask it's not apparently it is but yeah no i disappointed in some 70 series
didn't get didn't get some waves back from the 70 series um and i noticed that it was a lot of the
the older blokes in the 70 series okay no not having a bar of the wave do you reckon i've been
having this trouble in the city like i find sometimes waiting hard to get a wave back in the
city uh yeah it is but i've been it's been pretty good you know what it's really good between yeah
the sandy the sandy um cruisers yeah okay so the other sandy torque cruisers around
very friendly with each other yeah um i've been enjoying that whether it's uh like yeah um
2013 model or or my facelift model or a troopy or yeah whatever it might be there is there's good
connection there um i struggle sometimes i feel like the guys in the earlier model cruisers don't
notice me not as in like a form anything yeah i feel like they don't want to wave at me because
they're like oh look at this prick with a new one yeah new two point eight later i've got the
old i've got the proper yeah but i don't think it's that i don't think it's that i think it's just
in the city it's probably hard to see from six lines across yeah honestly you're out of the
window just but boys but like i'm getting like i'm doing at the side window to guys sitting like
oh yeah we're not sitting parallel with each other or driving across each other we're like
yeah so they're facing the lights they're gonna come across the lights and and they'll they'll
give me one if i'm you know especially if you're looking at it like you your car is hard to hard
to miss yeah if people don't wave at you in your car well no just between the other sandy yeah um
cruisers i'm finding great connection yeah if i drive past like a uh say like a white you know
i do notice as well because i have been trying this is like a big thing in the in during the day
for me yeah i'll pass another one in the on the road only because of our research that we're
putting in obviously we're doing a fair bit of research yeah and then the one i find funny is
like i feel like if they're set up the camp like if you've got a really it looks like yours yep
they're giving you a wave yep they're ready to give you a way as well if it's set up to
work as a tradie maybe not no and if it's just set up as a as a stock car you're driving around
maybe not either yeah the camp is the camp as i find are giving me quite a bit and potentially
because mine looks like it's got max tracks on top and the and the big canopy at the back
like it looks like i'm on the road full time yeah it doesn't guys it doesn't but it looks like i'm
on the road full time literally the bitch of them um but that is that's where i've that's where
my research has taken me so yeah interesting i want to move on though because we could talk
about that all day the wave no disappointing we'll we'll it is disappointing and keep the other thing
on it um obviously there's a fair few uh caravans got the got got a got a bit of the wave from them
so people towing the caravan of the nine yeah it's like three of the nine were good on you
were caravans yeah um but then also a high majority of caravans didn't wave yeah um
70 series exactly what you're saying cars that are set up to camp or look like they're
full driving or camping higher chance of a return on the wave um but then a lot of electric cars out
there yeah yds now oh because i we've we said we you saw you saw one key attachment that says here
mate i saw yes so dan from demedic remember who's not yes currently at demedic
no we like dan from demedic who's not at demedic anymore um he he reckons there's key
everywhere in sydney see i got the same fee so we put up i put up a reel that was like
i don't know how many key attachments there are like did the key attachment fail like what's going
on with the key attachment i haven't seen any of them or barely any of them i saw one the entire
trip i saw one key attachment and in a 30 minute period i waved at what 65 cars so if you i was
driving for six hours seven hours on the road i saw one key attachment yeah so i would have been
yeah in about 20 hours i saw one i don't think there's any sorry when i put up that reel got a
lot of feedback that in vittoria and on the eastern states yeah a lot more key attachments yeah but
haven't seen that many in w a like i sorry i'll go again but i literally just saw one key attachment
on the road and i don't i don't know if that's i don't know what the problem with the key attachment
is maybe it's priced too high i think 70 to 80 grand is a fair bit for a
like a ute that kia have just kind of put out like it's not really tested tried or anything like
that but a lot of byd sharks mate yeah a lot of byd sharks out there they're also under the tray
first one i've seen with the like i take the tub off and put a tray on it so yeah actually yesterday
yeah so a lot of those um and a lot of them with the custom byd canopy yeah have you seen those
it's cool that yeah i like that it's good that's it looks sleek great idea by byd
really good idea anyway so a lot of byd sharks a lot of teslas out there as well and a lot of the
byd i think they're seals seals byd seals or sea lion or something yeah yeah whatever the stand is
i think it's a seal or yeah sea lion but a lot of those out there driving it driving around
and a lot of gwm tanks mate are the tanks yeah the tanks are out there yeah i think it's 300 or
the 500 uh fair few of those out there which is wicked to see love seeing um yeah i've seen
some cool ones that i was done up now too yes definitely i actually don't mind the look of the
tanks to be honest yeah well it's because they look fairly similar to a parado yeah they do yeah um
but yeah no so a fair few of those now talk to me about the the dangerous the dangerous part yeah
literally you text me on the day saying remind me to talk about this on the podcast yeah dangerous
overtaking yeah um what did you see it was pretty disappointing to see um out there on the road
actually but there's a there's a lot of just dangerous overtakes yeah overtakes that aren't
necessary to make if you wait another five minutes there's an overtaking lane coming up but um people
overtaking like three to five vehicles on the road at once including a road train
so that's a that's a fair distance and like approaching a corner as well not great um people
overtaking literally just before blind corners so as they finish the overtake they're on the corner
yeah that's just fucking stupid that's so stupid you've gone there you've gone the coast road
haven't you i've gone the coast road yeah it's a which is a dangerous road mate it's not there's
been a lot of accidents on a lot of accident and i can see why i think i dropped the speed there
a hundred still 110 yeah so it goes from 110 yeah but yeah like um overtaking literally just before
an overtaking lane yeah like doing a shitty overtake just before an overtaking lane um
and then also on the other side of it when you try and overtake people and they speed up
yeah that mate i'm glad you said this so they're in so you like the overtaking lane happens at
speeds and then the car that you are planning to overtake has been doing 100 95 100 and then you
get into that right lane overtaking and all of a sudden they want to go the speed limit literally
all of a sudden that frustrating when that happens it feels like it happens every single time every
time and i don't understand it do you reckon it's because of the space they feel like there's more
space now to drive at a faster speed like i find when you go into the tunnel in Perth which i don't
know if this is the same everywhere or maybe it's just Perth drivers with the tunnel because there's
one of them and you might not be in there too often but the space i feel like people just go from
it's 80 on that grain farmer freeway people go on 80 into it and all of a sudden they're on 70 65 in
there mate they love their less than that they're in like 50 some of them it's bad it's it's ridiculous
do you reckon it's the space that they like oh now i've got a lane next to me and obviously the
side of the roads there but do you reckon it's like there's more space so you drive a bit quicker
i don't know just freeze up a bit yeah why does that happen it's frustrating
honestly great question i don't know especially i think i think it could be just like a lack of
concentration like people aren't paying attention to how fast they're going and then they hit an
overtaking lane they're like oh fuck all of a sudden they're like oh wow i'm doing i'm doing 90 i need
i need to speed up i'm not i'm doing way too yeah i'm going way too slow
car's trying to overtake me because i mean we've only the last 20 minutes exactly right that could
be it i think just a little bit of ego as well maybe ego like i think a little bit of ego like
people just don't like being overtake overtaken i don't know but it is so frustrating and especially
because like this happened a couple times where you're in like a convoy kind of almost thing like
with a car in front who's doing 90 in 110 zone and then the car behind them will go to overtake
that car will speed up and then that car that's gone to overtake isn't they're not going to do 120
130 to try and overtake this car so they just kind of like they're just kind of sitting next to each
other and you're there going behind all of them going come on mate just someone a little bit
little bit faster mate let's just get past this car because once you pass the car the car goes back
to doing 90 again but i yeah i don't know what it is it's a frustrating thing that
seems to happen more often than not it is a frustrating thing and i think at the same time
like um people going slowly i know that a lot of people say oh i'll like drive to your limits and
like drive safely and all that and i fully agree with it but um at the same time i think people
who drive you know 10 20 k's under the speed limit are also causing dangerous situations because
people want to get past them and it just becomes more and more dangerous i think
you really need to be driving properly when you're out there like the speed limit's there for a
reason you know like and by all means like if you're towing a caravan the speed limit for you is 100
not 110 so yeah i understand that aspect like i couldn't agree more with you mate it is a frustrating
thing when that car that you've been waiting to overtake and do it at the right time in the
overtaking lane that they've warned you about from five kilometers before yeah you just you sit
there and you give them enough space and then you but they all of a sudden they want to yeah all
of a sudden they go a little bit fast and you're like come on yeah i don't think we need to talk
much more about it because it is a frustrating frustrating thing we don't but yeah the dangerous
overtaking yeah that you just take that out of your drive seriously take that out of your drive
what an extra five minutes onto your onto your arrival time think about like rather than the
safety of other people on the road think about yourself yeah um think about if you can't think about
any lives at risk if you if you don't care think about how other people might be affected by that
100% you're putting everyone's lives at risk horrible horrible overtaking on that road as well
yeah um i look i didn't see out of what the hundreds thousands of cars that i was up there
driving around with um it i only saw it maybe three times but that's three times too many
yeah 100% i agree um yeah for me that's just that's too much yeah don't be risky um
just before we move into around the fire pit i just want to put a question out there for our
audience now i'm in a real no it's not a pickle at all but i'm i'm in a i'm at a bit of a crossroads
with i basically don't have a apart from a barbecue at the moment don't have a camp
cooker or something barbecue like a little baby webber oh yeah so i've got a little baby
webber that i can bring but it's also in a way it's sort of cumbersome and and
takes up a little bit of the canopy space that probably don't want it to like there's a spot
for it but then gotta bring obviously a gas bottle with it and i don't have a gas bottle holder like
you do which was handy on the back of your car but um so ideally if i if i'm probably going away
and it's just the car for you know and i need to use the the canopy space i don't really want to
have to fill it with a barbecue but i've got uh obviously the inverter that i can run 240
volt appliances from but i've never used an induction cooker while camping i've always
gone to your gas options whatever it might be so i'm basically like what what do people reckon
out there like what are they finding if if i've got the inverter and my best off bringing an
induction that packs up nice and tidy sort of you know it's easy to use not a lot of mess there's
no extra gas that i need to bring like it's you know plug it in turn it on off you go one pan
get it cranking um or do i go something like your your colman fire night yeah i i really love
if i was going to go gas it's quite expensive but the jet boil um genesis like base camp set up
is like that foldable it folds out to two burners yes um you can get like there's a
nice big pot nice big pan for it yes um easy to easy to use easy to pack up gotta obviously then
bring um your little gas burner to i saw your gas bottles so i'm like what what do i go am i
i'm not really using my 240 volt pair or you know my inverter for much at the moment like i
i'm not planning on bringing an air fryer when i go away just don't go away for long enough to
to warrant bringing a that or even to like a coffee machine what are you going in the
back of your car you're gonna do a kitchen setup well i've got a kitchen set up everything like
that right yeah that's why i'm thinking induction like i think pop the induction you may as well go
induction and they're quite they're quite affordable yeah i i would say you may as well go induction
i think the the jet boil genesis base camp is probably it's probably for a different setup
than yours yeah probably a more portable kind of setup someone who's like maximizing space and that
kind of stuff you don't really need to maximize space you may as well put an induction cooker with
your kitchen setup already yeah um and use that 240 volt because at the moment what are you doing
for what are you using that 240 volt for now basically not i haven't needed to use it for
anything i might i've charged the camera battery on it like that's all i've done yeah um so and
you use it when you're out camping as well i've never had an inverter though that's the other
thing so like there's all the options of you know little coffee pod machine uh plenty of people use
air fries out there when they're going on longer trips um you know anything you want really that
plugs into a wall i can plug into the car obviously it's going to take a fair bit of draw but um
yeah i just i've never used the induction i'm like to people that have only been gas cookers before
have they loved the induction basically is what i'm asking because i yeah it's a safe question i save
myself some coin going the induction as well over like a jet boil jet boil genesis based on setup
like the fire night still 250 bucks best of yeah well the the genesis is 500 yeah um for for both
halves like that's that's a fair bit of money the induction have you what so you're just basically
asking is the induction good i'm just asking like did people yeah is it you can get a um
you can get the little induction solo portable cooker yeah that's what i think that's what i'm
thinking about like you can get that that's like 80 bucks 80 bucks yeah you can get that and just
like give it a test and then if you like it and you want to use it yeah then you can actually
upgrade to the to the full thing and get like a proper setup there the only thing i like really
love about that jet boil all the fire night is you can have two go on two big and you know you're
getting good heat you know you're getting like i don't know you can get two induction cookers though
you're cool but then i'm using a fair bit of power
maybe anyway let me know what you think um again like i don't go out for that long uh
haven't used an induction myself uh when camping yeah obviously that's why i'm at home and stuff
there great yeah i've got induction on you know i really like the common fire night that's me love
it that's why i really like it you don't answer no and i won't no that's all but let us know if
you've gone from gas to uh to the thing i also have in mind like i don't do a lot of camping
through the winter months but you can cook on the fire there as well so like you know might have
yourself a pot like you know for the fire um did you get like a draw all set up kind of thing
put the induction in like its own flat and then i'll find it out no i probably wouldn't do that i'll
probably have a floating floating one yeah yeah um but anyway almost let us know when then um
should i go on induction is basically should i give it a crack i probably should give it a
crack in my that's what i'm thinking but i might go out if there's enough people out there telling
me do not do it then go out and get like one of those little portable small ones yeah like a
hundred bucks or something like that my birthday's coming up mate say no more thank you i'll um tell
lauren to get you that yeah um yeah go out and grab one of those and then just give a test just
give it a crack why not because if you don't like it like if you don't like it then it's not there's
no point in going bigger and like getting a proper one because like other people might go oh yeah i
loved it this is great this is the best thing ever but if it doesn't work for you yeah it's kind of
a bit of a waste yeah fair enough um but yeah let us know have a look um around the fire pit

15 years time will people still love the v8 then and will they still hold their value uh the fuel
crisis of the 70s shocked everyone every world conflict raises the fuel price and the fuel graph
has been on a steady incline since the 70s i love the podcast cheers so will people still love the
v8 in 10 or 15 years time and will they still hold their value so i think we were sort of talking
about the v8 being collectors items probably like when we're talking about the patrols yeah last
week of the week before will people spend the money in 10 or 15 years time when they are no
longer available um which they are basically no longer available now to a degree so um what do
you reckon oh to be honest the yeah he's got a great point derrick like as in the question is
extremely valid because hundred percent it's already way more expensive to live now for
for many people um i think less and less people although probably camping and forward driving
is becoming more popular there'll be a time there where it just becomes too expensive to do that
also and people will just have to prioritize the money and where it goes uh in saying that i don't
know yeah if the fuel price has been steadily increasing since the 70s then history says it's
probably going to continue to steadily increase over that time if it's on that trend for i mean
in saying that though everything else has been increasing as well food yeah that's like the
price of everything not just fuel has gone up i think that's where wages have gone up as well
yeah since the 70s like everything's kind of going up together but i do agree that yeah i think
the wages and the inflation inflation of everything else have have been kind of
going apart yeah growing further and further apart as as it goes so yeah maybe maybe in 10
or 15 years it's going to be too hard to afford maybe yeah fuel like that and they will be collectors
items and yeah so will they hold their value tough to know like i would say they'd hold their value
then yeah if they become more and more rare and like harder to get and harder to afford i think
they probably would hold their value yeah maybe people would just have them in the garage sitting
people have them now like you've got 60 series 40 series true old 70 series 80 series 100 series
patrols gq's g us um range rovers old land rovers sorry like yeah
i think they they still all seem to be holding their value that's a good point i mean they're
not they're never going to be the same as they are now in terms of cost but yeah they'll still be
they'll still be going around they'll still be affordable and they'll still be not affordable
sorry and they'll still um yeah it's an interesting watch haven't spoken about fuel
processes in a while because they are back down to a decentish level yeah
i was worried for a bit where they were like still going up and no one was talking about i was like
yeah are they we're just accepting now they kind of dropped back a bit and no one spoke about it
then yeah because everyone's like it's okay for it to be dropping yeah it's great for it to be
celebrating a day well what is it i'm sort of seeing it around $1.80 to $1.85 for diesel
mostly now yeah what do they get to to to $2.80 to $2.80 was it yeah it's up near $3 as well in
some places and above yeah anyways back down to about $1.80 but it needs to go further down yeah
please yeah please get down to $1.50 um all right next one quarry carpenter uh take a look at the
zempire air tents i have two of them and they're pretty easy to set up and pack up you just have
to pump them up do the pegs and guide ropes and you're set mine has been in some wind and has
been fine the only challenge may be headroom i'm 5'10 and i can stand in them pretty easy but i
think the ceiling is six foot so they may be a challenge for you taller lads still better than
a swag i saw one of these in a video um like a youtube video yeah from a bloke over in europe
who the really cinematic video it's like set it up in the rain and everything had his dog like
brought his doggy was it like an asmr camping video kind of like an asmr camping video but yeah
it was um no talking yeah it was cool um but they looks good i don't think i don't like is the pump
out i just don't like i don't really like the pump up but it's only why you i just don't like it
just personally five minutes takes to pump up five minutes hey everything's sold out at zempire so
they must be good yeah oh yeah apparently apparently see them all over the place i i don't

got a i don't even know what box one yeah just kings or something yeah it's not kings but it's

i don't mind it they look good i i haven't done a lot with the inflatable
i have an inflatable swag oh yeah that i've never used i've set it up before to see what it was like
yeah had an inflatable mattress in it too just didn't do the trick for me it was yeah two yeah
just yes yeah basically laying on the floor i go about air mattresses aren't for everyone
but yeah these look nice it i'd like to know what is yeah is it using inflatable air mattresses too
in there are there decent ones are those around um how easy do they pack up because like that's the
other thing you when you get a tent my only worry is all of the bedding is elsewhere in your vehicle
you know so your your pillows your mattresses they've all got to be stored somewhere so i'm
assuming you got to go inflatable um that black roll pillow that i've got that travel pillow
that your three of those would be perfect yeah for us as a family it's really like
yeah well so he's not exactly using a pillow probably fit on a full pillow anyway but they're
great i reckon for camping pillows because they roll up so small you almost hang them at the top
of your canopy or the roof of your cabin whatever it might be um but the mattress are the ones that
i'd probably need to do your research on before a tent like this but these tents look unbelievable
oh great yeah well the video i saw it was all like air products so yeah like an air a blow up
couch in there blow up bed blow up everything yeah mate i can only imagine yeah um but obviously
equality hopefully they yeah work well in Australia um all right last one we'll get another
from sparrow fish he says hey dugo hey eagles fan here oh yeah i once was away yeah from the sparrow
i once was away down at apollo bay at the pub having a few beers and some young bloke won the
raffle and snag the fresh lobster had a beer and a laugh with him anyway two days later i'm at
docklands watching you guys play st kilda i turned my head and eight seats away it was the apollo
bay lobster boy lobster boy turns out he was your cousin or nephew um had a good laugh yeah that
would have been my cousin and i'm assuming it would have been pablo yeah old old lobster boy
lobster boy i'm pretty sure it's patty might have been james's brother yeah um but
yeah that's a that's a small world how good's that apollo bay lobster boy they holiday down in apollo
bay which is a beautiful beautiful spot have you never heard of it no i haven't so it's a little
bit further west from like lawn on like the great ocean road oh okay down the bottom of victoria
around the k-bot way national parks and beautiful camping a little bit further on from there
like rainforesty waterfalls magic magic area beautiful um but that would have been i'm assuming
it would have been pablo could have been james either or either or brothers would have been that
family no doubt beautiful mate how good is that old lobster boy down there they um yeah i'm lobster
boy i do i recall with someone telling me that they won the raffle down there yeah um i can't
remember if it was james or patty but yeah that's them that's so it's yeah we're very close with
with um those guys that's funny that yeah they are patty especially does not miss a thing like
any event i feel like around the world he he's just like he's just known to be the guy that is
just everywhere and anywhere and just how old is he uh patty well patty'd be mid 20s early 20s early
to mid early 20s probably patty might be 23 yeah 22 23 24 maybe i actually don't know what patty'd
be now he was always like the little younger cousin yeah now he's obviously grown up lobster man
the lobster man yeah it would have been patty for sure it could have been james too he he uh
he enjoys the Apollo Bay pub um sounds like they all do but no it's a good yeah good part of the
world there is some beautiful camping down that way um if you're ever in the in the
region i've actually got so i've got some for you um that i saw on on socials and i'll put it in
