treated to an amazing mustache on Andrew.

At first I thought it was just like a filter, but it does indeed appear to be real.

I was in Utah.

I was in Idaho for a few days, actually.

I went to Lake Ponderay, which is about an hour and a half away from Spokane or Spokane.

I got on a speedboat, which was super fun.

Well, I don't count like June Lake outside of Mammoth as, you know, and I mean, I know

I've been to Tahoe, but I haven't been inside the lake.

I've never like put the body to water.

So did you have friends up there with a boat that you were visiting or?

Yeah.

A friend of mine's family have a, you know, a vacation home there and she's been wanting

me to come for years and I finally was able to do it.

And wow, that's a real nice place to have a vacation home.

You do some Idaho living?

What kind of things would that be?

It sounds like the lake life.

Yeah, the lake life.

Well, the boating, the swimming in the water, the kayaking and then I wasn't willing to do

like tubing.

That's the best part of it.

I gotta say, Andrew, when you're an older gal and you got, you know, bad bones, you got

to be careful.

But we did throw a couple pool noodles into the water and I did float around.

And then I cared less about the final.

I just wanted Argentina to lose, so.

So, with all the soccer slash football excitement, I thought that we could play a little game

where we're going to go back in time since we love our nostalgia, which we did so well

on last time.

And I want you guys to go back to 1982, which is when.

Happily.

The country called Italy won.

Forza Italia.

Mm hmm.

And imagine you were on that team and you won your championship world champion.

You've got your bonus.

Huge amounts of money.

It's 1982 and you have to fill your two-car garage because you're going to buy a car after

this or two or three or four.

But we only did two because last time we got a little crazy.

Two is going to work.

Two is going to be great.

Now, since Andrew wasn't alive at this time, I wanted to kind of bring in a little bit

of research, right?

So, Andrew, so you can get a feel for what 1982 was.

It's considered the greatest year in pop culture.

I mean, in America, I mean, obviously globally because we only think about ourselves, but

globally, maybe not.

But in 1982, these are the some of the things that happen, movie and music wise.

So I bought a portable disc man so that I could listen to his book.

audiobook.

win a championship.

And let me tell you clearly, the cars that you just said, with the exception of the Ford.

Uh, you can think of it as like an F one formula one car for the road, or at least their marketing

would like you to think that.

I feel like it might be a little bit more, like 10.

I mean, it's really beautiful.

When it was new, it was only about $3 million and you get one for about $4 million.

now is they just push a button and then it turns on.

It's such a strange concept for me.

Anyway, that's all I had to say.

I rented, I was on a trip to Texas and I rented a, I think it was a Hyundai, Hyundai, I don't

know, Sonata, something, something very exotic and it probably took me a good, several minutes.

I'll say to figure out how to get it into drive.

It wasn't a push button.

It was a turn, like a cube that you turn.

And then you pull it back towards you to go into neutral and then again for like it was

not.

It's like, bop it, twist it.

Yeah.

I've got to do that in an emergency.

It just, it was so on that.

It was like paddle shifts.

Was it in the center console?

Cause that's where it was in this Volvo.

No, it was like where the key would be, like on the side of the steering wheel.

Well, that's where I was looking and I couldn't find it out.

And that wasn't how you started the car.

Anyway, I was like, the Volvo was a twist.

And I couldn't figure it out.

I had a, I had a car in the shop last week and I get in it and I put the key in the dashboard

and twist just like any car.

And then my buddy walks in and he's like, wow, he's had a push button start.

And I'm like, well, they don't, and he's like, well, I'm looking right at it.

And this, this 2016 Volkswagen Toreg TDI, it has a push button start right next to the

shifter and also a place to insert the key on the dashboard and twist.

So I'm just like, you know, why?

I have no clue.

Really baffling.

I've never seen another Volkswagen like that.

They couldn't make a decision.

Yeah.

It's like usually one or the other, but this car, you know, you get both

flagship things, I guess, you know, Torelli.

They call, they call that a twofer.

So a little bit of info on the AMG F1.

And we're going to go into this a little bit on a different podcast, but one of these

came up for sale recently used and after 115 miles, guess how much maintenance work

had to be done?

You know, a air filter was $2,200 and the transmission oil filter was $2,200.

So, well, gee, you know, anyway.

If you win the World Cup, which I would understand.

So I am going to turn it over to one of you two to take me through what you guys

decided to choose for your two cars as elite athletes.

Anyone, anyone who wants to go first?

I always like when Andrew goes first.

Okay, I will go do it.

So I, you know, I kind of just said, I'm winning the World Cup in 1982.

So I'm going to buy two brand new cars, but I'm going to buy two brand new

opposite, very, very polar opposite vehicles.

So the cars I chose a 1982 Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which is, you know,

like the big V8 kind of looks like a Mustang, but not really with the quad cam

V8 6.3 liter.

So they offered it.

It was originally just a 5.3 liter from Aston, but you could have them up

it to 6.3 liters.

So, you know, I'm a World Cup winner.

I want the big.

So that is a convertible or a hard top coupe and the color of the one I found

is a nice dark green, which is just, you know, perfect on an Aston Martin.

And then car number two would be a 1982 Citroen Dushivo Charleston.

And I don't know if you guys like those two shavos, but I think that's

a really good two car solution.

You know, you got the 6.3 liter V8 Aston Martin freeway bruiser.

And then you have the 0.6 liter flat two cylinder with 29 horsepower to

go get some baguettes from the shops and go down to the beach and not have

to worry about parking at all.

You can leave the windows down.

You can leave the roof folded back.

You don't have to worry about anything with those two car solution.

The Citroen Charleston is a really cute car.

It's very sweet.

I would love to see you in one of those, especially now in your stash era.

Well, and I just there's actually one of these in the same.

I found one and it's two tone red and black and that's the Charleston

like special edition sort of deal and it was originally offered as a one

off one year special edition, but people loved it so much that it continued.

I think the first year of it was 1980, but there's a guy in San Francisco

and he lives around like 19th Street and he daily drives this red and black

Dushivo and it's just like, I wish that was me because I can't think

of a better car to drive around San Francisco.

And I'm thinking, OK, so I'm 1982.

I've won the World Cup.

Yeah.

And I think I want to stay in Spain.

Oh, I think you're in Spain now.

I'm sorry, I'm in Spain now.

Oh, OK.

So I mean, the World Cup in 82 was played in Madrid.

That's what I thought.

I'm like, I'm going to stay in Spain for the world.

And have you guys ever heard of Basque Country?

And is that am I pronouncing it the right way?

Basque Country, San Sebastian.

I mean, you won the World Cup.

You can say it however you like.

So specifically, yeah, yeah, like La Concha Beach in San Sebastian.

That's where I'd be.

And La Concha, do you know what Concha means?

I mean, I imagine the shell, the shells.

But I just, you know, the the Aston Martin would take me to London,

to Madrid, to Germany, if need be, to Rome, to see the Vatican,

all these beautiful things.

And when I just want a baguette and I want to go down to the beach,

I take that two CV.

That's the perfect two car solution.

Well, and did you guys, did you guys see the history behind why Spain

had the 1982 World Cup?

No, do tell.

So it was Spain's kind of, it was a coming out party for Spain

because this was the end of the, you know, political repression

that was going on.

Felipe Gonzalez of the Socialist Party won a sweeping historic landslide

and their whole slogan was poor El Cambio, which means for change.

So it's just like going, I imagine I'm visiting Spain.

Maybe I'm on the Italian team, but I see this excitement and I can

feel this political excitement, this hope for a better world that's

flowing through all the blood of all these Spanish people.

I'm posting up right on that beach, right in La Concha and I'm driving

my two CV around.

I think that'd be just about perfect.

Are you giving out bag baguettes just left and right?

No, I'm just buying them.

Well, I mean, just to add to Andrew's history, the World Cup

in 1982 was played in Madrid, Spain, as we've discussed on

July 11th, which coincidentally as my father's birthday was

his birthday.

Italy did defeat West Germany three to one and and it was a

great year.

We Italy being my country, which is where I would be playing.

Of course, I would be playing for Italy.

That was the the third World Cup championship for Italy by

then and they had just matched up with Brazil because Brazil

had won three as well.

So I think Italy won in 34, 1934, 1938 and then 1982 at that

point.

So the two cars, well, you already named the two cars when

you mentioned the best cars that were released in 1982.

So my two cars, can you guess my first car?

I mean, it's got to be a Coontosh.

It's totally a Coontosh.

I like how you're trying to get Coontosh into every pod that

we have.

I'm not trying.

You're you're providing the opportunity.

That's right.

So Lamborghini Coontosh LP 500 S would be my my sexy vehicle

that I might even drive around once in a while.

I got to say I went really deep with the design of what I

was going to do custom customized to this vehicle.

Are you down with like a breakdown?

You you customize the Coontosh?

Well, just from a visual standpoint, you you you change

your most iconic car.

It's looks.

That's right.

I changed it.

I went with I thought this was your favorite car.

This is my favorite car, but I just won the World Cup and I

have to let the people know on the streets that it's me driving

it.

Wow.

I'm ready.

So the paint is going to be blue Savoia to match the

Azuri, which is the national color of Italy.

I don't know if you know this.

Are you familiar with the fact that we're called the Azuri?

No, I was not.

No, I was not aware Azuri that there's blue in that.

So the Italian national color is not red or yellow.

That's right.

It is it is blue due to the house of Savoy, which the royal

family ruled and unified the kingdom in 1861 to 1946.

And that is the color that we play in the blue jerseys unless

of course we have to play in a white jersey because we're

playing another team that has a blue and there's like the

French to refer to as the blues, right?

And how do you say it?

Are they?

I believe so.

I couldn't tell you their national team, but anyway,

well, you know, well, I don't know how far back that goes and

I don't want to start a fight here on the pod.

So no, no, no, no.

So I would actually have Lamborghini instead of going

with their two blue options that they normally released the

the Lambo and I would ask them to do a blue Savoy since let's

be honest, I'm allowed, right?

I've just one.

So I do that for the side slats.

I would do the Tricolore, green, white, red faded on the side

of the body.

So it'd start with like a deeper color at the at the vent

and then kind of come out.

Uh, for the nose panel, again, Tricolore pinstripe and then

at the center right above the license plate, it would say

So that would be, oh, sorry.

And then continuing on the wheels, I'd keep the OG white

telephone dial 15 inches.

I think that's going to look sexy.

And then with the rear tail panel, because, you know, you

could, if you wanted to have that tail added, I would

definitely have the tail because it's like kind of the wing

you mean the wing.

So, you know, we're on the back where it has the emblems and

it has the black emblem and says, says, Kuntash.

So right to the right of that, there's a little, a little

empty space and I feel like that's the perfect spot to put

an emblem of the Copa del Mundo, which is, which is the,

you know, the, uh,
