Up and down the East Coast. Now, I saw a little comment about Amber. Yes, here we go. How much
did you guys go on an afternoon? Yes, it was a good day for us, wasn't it? I'm just checking
my app now. Yes, can you disclose the numbers? Yeah, totally. Happy to tell you. Now, it wasn't
$200. It's $142 at the moment. And this is from like 20 minutes spike this
early afternoon. It was $21 per kilowatt hour for 20 minutes. I think it was crazy.
And then for a minute after that, it was like, well, $1 per kilowatt hour to use
energy from the group that must have ever shot. So they're asking us to use that energy back.
So it was a good day. A very good day. Yeah, happily get paid to use the air conditioning.
No problems at all. So yes, those kind of days, make up for days where it's slightly more
expensive to use Amber. So anyway, we'll keep everyone posted on our channel.
Yeah, so let's talk a little bit about our trip to China. Hey, Roland, hope you don't
mind bearing with us here for this and our viewers as well. So here is my LinkedIn post,
just a few photos of us enjoying Guangzhou in China, of course, which for those who don't know,
it's very close to Hong Kong, probably about two hours, probably train ride to Hong Kong, I'd say,
very close to Shenzhen as well in the Guangdong province, the old Canton province.
Hence the Cantonese food was fabulous in Guangzhou. And the airport code is C-A-N.
How good is that? Because of Canton. Yeah, yeah. Now this picture here,
now the video is coming, it's actually from an electric ferry, believe it or not.
Danny Tai just shouted to Danny who was on the trip with us. He found out on this trip
that this ferry has a five hour battery life. It's a range extended ferry, so it can generate
if it runs out of charge. I don't think it does, but two runs a day, three runs on Sunday,
serenely quiet. It was amazing, right? You think of ferries, you think of diesel,
you think of motors, noisy. This was crazy quiet. It was so good. I've never experienced anything
like it, honestly. And this is the Canton Tower behind it. This lights up at night. And this,
the city is like vivid every night on steroids. It wasn't because we, me,
joined and Riz were there, not just that. It's on every night. So yeah,
you ever get to Guangzhou, do this electric ferry. It's fabulous.
And then we source some other stuff, of course, as well. This is the X-Punk headquarters.
This is T2. There's like three of them. We will try to work out whether they
form the shape of an X from the sky. We're not quite sure. I don't think it does yet,
but I can imagine if they buy all the buildings around. Can I also just say,
normally I'm the one that's bad with numbers. He called it T3, and I was like,
I'm pretty sure it was T2. So that's like the one in 100 times that I'm actually
right about a number. I lost track on a second. So it's like China size and everything else there.
So is that T2, turn one two? Like is that how big headquarters is of that location?
That's like the second building. There probably was a T3 building.
There was definitely a T3. I saw it. Yeah. Yeah. I just imagine like a university campus,
like I don't know about UNSW maybe or UTS, but like mega-sized. And there was a full-size
staff cafeteria in there, which was bigger than any food court in Sydney,
basically bigger than any Westfield food court. It was phenomenal. How many employees were there?
Like 10,000 employees? I think one of the staff said to us 13,000 on campus. Yeah. It was insane.
And there's a full-size museum in there. Oh, this is Ordo Guangzhou, the
motor show that we attended. Not as big as Shanghai, but still sizable. One of those
halls was again the size of probably two or three Sydney or Melbourne EV shows.
And there were, I think, 11 halls. Yeah. So multiply that out 11 times 3. 33 times the size.
Yeah. And BYD took up one of those halls. Yeah, yeah. Our Ordo Guangzhou video,
there was an outdoor portion where BYD had the young one, U8, doing a flotation test.
So check that one out, guys, if you get a chance. It's quite spectacular.
That's the 868 A-Ridge. Still in prototype phase. It's done a liftoff test. Hasn't
the propellers haven't gone forward yet. That's the plan, obviously, to fly like a fixed wing.
500Ks of range. Hybrid. So that's exciting. And that's the G6, which we've got to drive
on real roads in China. First time ever for us in China, driving on real roads.
In that beautiful color. Yeah. There's the color that we like. Yep.
And we do explain in the upcoming behind-the-scenes video, but we got to see through
Chinese DMV or Department of Motor Vehicles to get our temporary driving license that was
in itself quite an experience. So I won't spoil it too much, but it was interesting,
interesting sitting through that. So stay tuned for that video.
His question for us, actually. What are the costs of China generally for food
accommodation? That's the G9, by the way. And that's the G7.
China is actually quite affordable, honestly. Yeah. I would say you would be able to get
a meal for about like five to $10 per person, generally. Yeah, like sort of like a food court
kind of food. Accommodation, I think, I think it's probably like a five-star hotel room,
about maybe $350 a night, you reckon? Yeah. Well, we stayed at the ground
hiding long-term. That was about $300 for a nice big room. It was insane.
Yep. So very, very affordable. Highly recommend it. No idea about transport.
Yeah. I don't know. We got shuttled around. We'll find out soon. We're actually going to
China next year with the family. So our first sort of holiday there. So we'll give you the
lowdown on our vlogs too. Okay. So that was our Chinese trip. If you've got any questions,
leave them in the comments. We'll keep answering them. He's just a question,
actually. How do you go if you don't speak Mandarin? Well, I mean, my Mandarin is
quite rudimentary. That was quite useful. But if you don't speak Mandarin, I think
there are enough probably translation apps to help you through. Yeah. I mean,
the times that I was separated from you, I found everyone was like really, really friendly.
Sometimes they realize that obviously they'll start speaking to me in Mandarin,
then realize that I can't speak Mandarin. Sometimes they would switch to English
just like this. And I was so impressed that some of them like were able to speak,
you know, English so readily because these are like, I'm not talking about staff here. I'm talking
about, you know, just like, you know, like local staff, you know what I mean? Like at a food court
or something. But if they didn't switch to English, then they were really helpful in trying to,
you know, like use hand gestures to get me to understand. Or I think someone actually once
got out like their phone. And so they were the ones who got out their translation app and
were like, you know, just try and, you know, say into here what you're trying to say to me instead.
So like they were really on the ball actually. And much more savvy with the tech than confused on
me who was just standing there. I have learned how to say, sorry, I don't speak Chinese in Chinese.
So that's one thing. That's something. I mean, look, it's like I was going to Japan,
right? We don't speak Japanese. So we get by. You can easily get by with them.
And there's a lot of signs, even in the shops that are written in English underneath. So it's a bit
like Japan or Korea that way. A lot of the road signs are in English as well, actually. There's
Chinese and then English sometimes. So you can get by. Okay, well, that's us. Keep those questions
coming. And yeah, good point from WGGK. You're sought out Alipay particularly.
Everything is cashless. I've not seen a single RMB yuan coin or note in mind.
Six times I've been there. Like the WeChat kind of like circle QR code thing is everywhere. You use
it for everything. And Alipay just like. Yeah, scan the thing. Yeah. But like credit cards are
really, you get really get to use that next unless you're in a big multinational thing like
hotel or like McDonald's or KFC or something. But everyone was so friendly. Like they'll help
you through the app, isn't it? Because they're kind of like, if you're looking confused,
they'll kind of look over the screen and like help you like, because sometimes it's
like you put it face down and sometimes you have it face up and it's like slightly different
depending on how to pay. So that yeah, they're just so helpful. Good time to travel. 30 day
visa free for Aussies. Okay, let's push on and let's talk about this. I want to talk about the
charger that has been supported in the Northwest in Sydney, Kellyville. This is amp hole. So
this looks like, is it Kellyville Ridge, Roland? Kellyville Village. Village, sorry.
Yeah, just a small shopping center. Yeah, looks good. There's at least four stalls that I can see
there. Amcharge. I don't know what the speed is. Judging by that, I'd say 150 maybe, hopefully
faster. Fingers crossed. I mean, the local BP petrol station, it says 150 by 75.
So fingers crossed at least that. But I see, I don't know if it's opened up in
too many shopping centers in general, but this is a small shopping center with
just the coals, there's a wall that's just around the corner in the same precinct.
But there's four charges here, which is great to see. We know that in the Hills,
Buckham Hills has the four Tesla superchargers now. So it's good to see, I think the uptake
heading into shopping centers. Yeah, it's good. And it's under cover. So I feel like very first
world wants to stand in the sun or rain or hail sometimes. But yeah, it's good. It's good to
see definitely. Yeah. And hopefully more to come as well. I know the Hills is not a high
density area, but still, you never know when you're visiting the Hills, you may want to
charge or pop up. So I'm happy to see this everywhere. And also Charge Fox now is open
for AGL charging stations. So that's also good to see as well. Looks like these are wall mounted
or at least light pole mounted charges for those who don't have access to off street parking or
charging, which is good. Definitely to see more of those in the inner city for sure.
I think the other companies, EVX, they're doing those as well.
AGL. So good to see. Yeah, good point there, Michael. Undercover, but not solar panels is going
back to that. That would be nice. Definitely no solar panels there. Not yet anyway. Looks like
Canvas. But hey, it's a good start. Undercover, I'll take over nothing. And Tazzy EV says,
looks like 150 kilowatt Alptronic. So yeah, I think you're right. Looks like Alptronic charges.
Generally pretty easy to use. And if it's undercover, it shouldn't be too much glare from the sun.
So also good. We'll make sure we check it out when it goes live.
Definitely. We'll stand rolling out there. Yes, sorry, Caliville Ridge is part of Blacktown,
I'm sorry, getting my Northwest areas mixed up there. And so if we're saying that's
the same as Broadway and Broadway is 150, so good. 150 I'll take. I think 150 is a good
standard. It's decent. Yeah, it's a good speed. Because most EVs are 150. You really get
higher than 150 if it's over February. I personally think it's good because you
wouldn't want to any faster if it's in the local shops. You're expecting people to either
dine there or to do a bit of shopping like for the groceries. If it's like 300 kilowatt
charger as an example, I don't want to go by half a trolley worth of groceries and have to rush
back. Absolutely. I don't want to pay idle fees. Which I think is a good thing. I think
idle fees is good, but yeah. I agree. But you can't dial down if DC charging either. You
get what you get, right, generally, like I see. And you certainly can't schedule a
charger. No, not yet anyway. Maybe that's the future. I mean, that's controversial,
like booking a charger. No? Don't like it? No. 15 minute grace, like you know,
no. I can see that. I can already see people fighting. That's my booking.
Fun times. Obviously, there are more charters you don't need to book, right?
Yeah, but they're too rare now to do that kind of, yeah, pull that kind of move.
That's right. Now, sorry. Good point from this comment here, Tassie. The Hobart Super
Charter is now open. That's right. So let's pop this up real quick. So this is
the special 75,000th global supercharger post. A nice Glacier blue. That is really nice, that color,
I must say. It's a nice way to commemorate that. Yeah, it's a good picture too.
Looks almost AI, but no, I'm sure it's good. I feel like everyone's going to want to charge
from that one. As we go any faster, probably not, but it's got the nice little plaque there,
right? I mean, that would be cool to check out, I think, and charge then. So
we'll see what happens. Maybe we can get down there somehow.
Oh, I was just saying, some large trucks can die down the DC charge. It would be just cool.
Interesting. OTR charters enable you to reserve them ahead of time. Oh, it's happening already.
Could be street fights. Job does bookings. Oh, okay. There we go. That's how it's happening.
I just feel like that could get really ugly, but I guess if it's
booked in in the system. I mean, has Koreans got to say something right? You try to plug in
and you can't. Surely you need some sort of notification saying, hey, someone's booked this
charger. I'd be frustrated. For the person that wants to charge, that can't. They could have
gone out of their way, but there's a whole separate argument to this. It's like when
you go to a restaurant and you see like a whole bunch of empty tables and they just stay reserved
and you're like, but I'm hungry and I'm standing here. I'm here right now. Here's my wallet.
Yeah, 15 minutes ahead. I'm pretty sure that's where I got that number from. I knew one of these
companies just already. Okay, well, I mean, that's not too bad. Yeah. Only the book
can activate the charger. Yeah, you think that one, yeah. Yep. Thanks, Richard.
Cool. All right. Now, I don't want to brag, but New South Wales, sorry, we are way ahead
of the game when it comes to charging. And Riz admits this too. He's from Victoria. He tells
me like it is too. So that's New South Wales. More chargers coming as well. Thanks to the
New South Wales government. EV Chargers being rolled out at these regional hotspots. Yeah.
Yeah, State of Ireland, hands down New South Wales, ahead of the game. I think WA,
South Australia also doing pretty well, but hopefully this will incentivize other states
like Victoria, Queensland to get more chargers out there. But very easy to ride a trip now
New South Wales, lots of chargers in various regional towns, as you can see.
And there's also numbers of plugs as well, I think. That's the number of new charging ports,
which is kind of a weird statistic to put on here. I mean, I guess that's just showing
like the current rollout, but it doesn't actually give you an idea of what the current
footprint looks like. This is just sort of like a snapshot of what they're adding.
But you can see the town though, right? You can see, you know, South West Rocks up there,
can see, right. So that's not bad. It's a pretty good rollout actually. You can get to most of the state.
Well, most of the populated areas anyway. Yeah. Yeah, and they didn't define new charging
ports, new as of what? Unless it's in a different like, it's just a wrong map.
Oh, look, shots fired from Quavehead, but New South Wales is the size of a Queensland suburb.
You're taking all our origin players and now you want to take our state as well.
Sorry, shots fired. Yes, no, you're right. We shouldn't be bragging too much, but it is good.
We're glad to be New South Wales for that reason.
Yes, we should say, looking forward to retesting the new highway soon.
Good. Yes, thank you, New South Wales Government for doing that.
A bit of BYD news. So, Roland, as we saw a couple of weeks ago,
Ato 1 and 2 officially launched. Joanna, we're lucky enough to go to that launch
and pricing is pretty good, I've got to say. Very good pricing. Very good, yes.
We had an American on our tour actually in China. We were happy to brag to him that we
had get some of the cheapest TVs in Australia and Chinese TVs as well, without tariffs.
So, yeah, he was a bit jealous. That's all right. My goodness, $150,000 US dollars
in Singapore. Oh, from this comment, yeah, yeah. I can believe that.
Yeah, Ato 3 is not cheap. So, yeah. I mean, most of that is just the tax right, the C.
What's it called? The CRE. No, that's separate.
No, this includes the CRE. I don't think so. No.
Okay, someone in Singapore, you can tell us in the chat.
Whatever it is. It's $150,000 USD, but I don't want...
I'm pretty sure that doesn't include the CRE.
See, US dollar, $150,000, that's $200,000. That's a lot of money.
That's at least your current... Surely that includes the CRE,
which is only available for 10 years. Then you've got to reapply, which is crazy again itself.
So, these aren't drive-away pricing, by the way. So, this includes probably another
two or three grand on top of this for the drive-away.
Couple of thousand on top. Yeah.
Yeah. But still, Ato 1, essential, $25,000, $26,000 drive-away. It's not bad.
And Ato 2, which Joy drove, of course, on the media day.
You drive the premium for $35,990.
That comment. Here we go.
That's what I was saying.
Good, but still $5,000 by bus.
Because I think if any company can price it to compete with petrol cars, it's BYD.
Because they've got the... Not the market share currently, but you know what I mean.
They're huge in China. So, they're the ones that can afford to just
undercut everybody and actually compete. And so that people start to realise and buy
electric vehicles and then go, oh, hang on. These are actually way better than a petrol.
Especially if you're not going to drive too far in a car this size, right?
Just charge every couple of days if you need to. It'll be cheaper than filling up once a week.
Because $5,000 at this price point is a lot of money.
Yeah, very sensitive at this price.
Yeah, Erin, good point. I know it's a great price to get more EV adoption, 100%.
See this comment here, only rich people can afford a car in Singapore.
Well, that's not true. You kind of need a car regardless, right?
No, I mean, people still need cars. You kind of need a car to drop your kids off.
Because if you either use public transport or for the times that it's like in between hours,
then you get like a ride chair. Isn't it a ride chair? Yeah, like those.
So it's not cheaper either. Well, cheaper than you.
It's cheaper than owning a car.
That's crazy. Yeah. I think they have a mandate in Singapore for all EVs by 2030, I think,
from what I've heard. So for a small island state, it's one region that can do that,
right? If you get the control cars, you might as well make them EVs.
Yeah, speaking of Singapore, the fireflies coming to Singapore in January.
So stay tuned and we'll talk about that shortly. Probably also $150,000.
Yeah, it's crazy. We're very lucky here. We're one of the cheapest places on earth to buy
a Chinese EV outside of China, just letting you know.
Now, a question for us here. I saw, what was it? Here we go.
When is the Xperme G9 being released in Australia?
We didn't get any more information on our trip, by the way. So they wouldn't tell us.
But we're hearing next year. So we'll see. It's a nice car, by the way. Very nice car.
It's a good size. It's a good size indeed.
Okay, so that's BYD. And also, I was surprised by this. Although it shouldn't have been because
the Yato 1 did get a 5-star NCAP, Euro NCAP rating. So I guess it makes sense that
it's also got a 5-star Australian, New Zealand and NCAP rating as well.
It's good. Very good for a small car.
I know. And reasonable scores too, right? With the different categories.
Yeah, those circles are good to know because they're like the first three are kind of like
the ones that we used to associate with NCAP as opposed to like Beeps and Boops 5-star NCAP.
You know, this is like the actual passenger protection or like pedestrian protection numbers.
And I was worried that small cars wouldn't get 5-star. Like for example, which calls that Jeep
Avenger, the small-ish car, 3-stars. I thought maybe because it was a small car. But see,
it can be done in small cars. Insta was 4.
4? Yep. So small cars can get 5-stars.
It probably is because of Beeps and Boops, so.
Yeah, look, for a Chinese entrant, it needs to be 5-stars, I'm sorry.
Like, you know, people are already doubting Chinese cars in Australia, so it's like
minimum 5-star. Like, don't even bother.
I think they've set the benchmark. Small car, very, very affordable price, decent
range and all of that stuff. And it's 5-star NCAP.
Yeah, it's a good package, honestly. And yeah, I haven't driven this yet, but hopefully,
we'll also get invited to drive this one. Because this is the little one I love to test
around Sydney. And to get in those parking spots that you normally can't get into in
Sydney as well. Or all those small car handling spots.
Oh, Asper 2, yes. Asper 2.
Do like an Italian job around Sydney. Except we'll call it the Chinese job.
Not quite the same ring. Or is it? Yeah. It's good.
All right. Now, more BYD news. Someone did ask about earlier about the...
We've been following this story, obviously with the Atto 3 and the Supercharger
compatibility, right? So, Riz Roland myself, we've been doing this story for Yonks now.
And looks like there is some light at the end of the tunnel. So, look at this email,
which was sent anonymously to a viewer. So, hello, viewer. You can now place an order
for the Atto 3 Tesla B3 Retrofit harness at your local BYD dealership to enable your Atto 3
to charge at Tesla Supercharters. Key celebration noise. Hooray. And I've heard it's about $350.
I just saw someone post that up here. I think I saw a comment somewhere saying that.
Yes. Yes, here we go. John Bentley, early Atto 3 Tesla charger update.
Some reports of fix becoming available at a cost of $350. That's not bad, actually.
And they weren't sold like originally. The cars weren't sold and said that they could
charge at Supercharters. Is it?
It's contentious. There's evidence of them showing plug share with Supercharters on it,
saying we can charge at DC charge. Because I feel like if they were sold
with the implication that they could charge there, you shouldn't be charged $350.
It's controversial. Yeah, I agree with you guys. It's a tough one. I mean,
probably argue the case, right? Should be warranted.
At least for the people who bought it before, it was kind of like well-known that it can't.
But that's just me and my ACCC kind of like.
What's it called? AC or Australian Consumer Laws are pretty strong in this country.
Because I mean, if you bought something and told it had these specific specs
and they didn't, it should be free when they fix it.
Well, here's a challenge for any viewer who's an early Ato3 adopter.
See whether you can get this under ACL warranted without paying the $350
and will amplify your case for the stream.
But I mean, if you bought it later, if you bought an Ato3 in the last,
I guess, couple of years, isn't it?
So I'm really talking about the people who bought it when the Ato3 first came out.
That's the real early adopters.
Yeah, that's just me.
Sorry, Roland.
No, you go, Tom.
No, no, you go.
I was just going to say, there are reports of the CEO with this retrofit that cannot do V2H
or V2G. So just be very careful with this.
Okay. So just telling you now it has a PSA.
Roland.
And I was going to say, and maybe this is just me reading way too into what you've got on screen.
The title of the subject, the subject of email says V3, V4 Supercharger Fix,
and then the comment there from BYD says V3.
Have we had any Ato3 owners tested on a V4 Supercharger and confirmed it has worked or
it hasn't worked?
After the retrofit?
Before.
Because it's saying specifically V3.
I'm just wondering, since V4 came out a while later, do we have that issue with Ato3?
I should be okay.
I'm pretty sure I reviewed a 2020 Ato3 after all this mess and it worked at the Chatswood V4.
So I'm pretty sure it's okay from memory.
But happy to be clarified as well.
If anyone can go out there and test it.
And just to throw fuel to the fire, X-Ping didn't charge anybody when suddenly all the
X-Pings could charge at Superchargers.
I know that was a fix on the, more like on the Tesla Ren.
Yeah, that was a software update.
John's confirmed it doesn't work on V4 either.
And thank you, Tassie.
Yes, Semantics.
Not quite V4.
These are like V4 plugs, free hardware.
Just the V4 shell.
Okay, all right.
So that's it.
We'll keep updating of course.
So get those fixes out, see whether you can get it free.
Let us know how you go.
Okay, so let's take a quick break.
Just wanted to quickly shout out to our sponsors once again.
Handcook, Riding Emotion, EV-specific tyres.
They get a power shop, day and night charging plans.
And also to Riz from Carloop, Data and Power Australia's EV revolution.
Riz, if you're watching, hello.
Hope you're enjoying Guangzhou.
We'll see you next week, hopefully.
And we miss you at KFC at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
That's a little tradition now.
Roland, if you come over, KFC for Auto Show.
That is some incentive for you.
And if anyone else wanted to join us on those Auto Shows in China.
All right.
Okay, just the KFC.
Hey, it's not bad, except for the chips.
I think our chips are better here in Australia.
Yeah, the chips are a bit of a disappointment.
Like we have really good KFC chips here in Australia.
Yeah, they're not, they're not that cheap there.
KFC is not that cheap in China.
It was like...
No, it was still cheaper than here.
It was like $10 for a meal.
But compared to food over there, it's more expensive.
It was 30 bucks, wasn't it?
30 bucks for two meals, I think, from memory?
$30 or $20?
Maybe, okay.
So that is kind of comparable.
Yeah, compared to what you can get over there, which is much cheaper.
We did change it from like a Pepsi to a coffee though.
So we paid more to do that.
We got coffee in a cup in a plastic bag.
So good.
It's not very friendly, friendly.
From KFC.
We were pretty desperate for coffee.
We were.
And I know they were giving out a lot of coffee at
the auto show as well, but I didn't want to have to navigate
scanning like WeChat codes to line up for the nice...
I mean, it was like really nice coffee.
They had like, you know, like fancy coffees
and just normal standard kind of like machine coffees.
But yeah, I didn't want to try and risk the QR code drama
to line up for the good coffees.
Yeah, look, why buy KFC?
Look, I gotta admit, I think the banana in me,
after four days of really good Chinese food,
I was craving some Western food as well.
Admittedly, this was like the last day
before we were flying back.
And that's the thing, like, as beautiful as the food is,
at one point you kind of start craving stuff from back home.
Yep.
Yeah, no, the food is fabulous in Guangdong, but...
But it was the last day.
And this is a tradition.
We're eating KFC at the auto show.
Sorry, it is what it is, all right.
Okay, I look KFC in Bali with sambal.
Oh my goodness, that would be so good.
Sounds like that might be good.
I'll go for that.
Well, and the KFC in China comes like,
you can get Portuguese tarts as part of the set meals.
Getting hungry now.
I'm liking the sound of that.
Okay, Roland, so you saw this in the interwebs.
This is a nice shape for a wagon.
Oh, I know.
Tell me about it.
It's an ice vehicle, but...
Oh, and then I didn't make another place,
but on that same racetrack,
they had all the other...
The concept ones on the whole magma range.
But this one, look at it.
I mean, it looks huge.
Well, I have to say that.
Like, that's definitely over five meters.
That's long.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
A kind of wishing for a 7GT now, looking at this.
Much more acceptable size.
Yes.
Yes.
And even the X-Pen P7, which we saw in China as well.
That's a pretty cool car.
Yeah.
Let's hope that all gets made official.
It all comes over here.
So we need more wagons on the road.
More wagons, 100%.
It's one of those things where, you know,
people talk like, you know, people like you and me,
and really just be like wagons.
Joy, not so much, she's an SUV girl.
But the 7GT videos that we did, like,
everyone's just saying, yes, bring it, bring it.
But I guess the concern is,
will people actually buy a wagon when it comes, right?
That's the thing.
That's what Zeke is worried about.
Is it just talk?
Will people actually go out and buy a 7GT?
That is the question.
Well, they're taking deposits to show you real interests.
So I guess that's the start.
Yep.
Show some love to Zeke.
I think if you say you're to buy one,
I think go out and get one.
Very tempted.
Yeah, Richard, I agree.
The 7GT got so much attention.
And in Sydney as well.
The most, I think, two of the most popular stalls
at the show.
Yep.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
It looks like a hearse.
All right.
Fair enough.
But it's loaded the ground.
Well, it's not black.
It's not black.
Don't get a black one.
All right.
Now, we talked about the Firefly earlier.
So this is a right-hand drive.
With the camera.
Yes.
The iPhone lights.
So yes, I think it's been confirmed for Singapore.
We did see a right-hand Firefly at the Guangzhou Auto Show.
Again, pricing in Singapore.
We might have to make a special trip to Singapore
to see this.
It's got to be $150 in Singapore.
Just for a small, tiny car like that.
I mean, if the Ado One is $150 US,
then this would be $120.
Would it be less?
Well, this makes me more premium.
More premium.
Yeah, nearer.
So I don't know.
Looks good though.
It's $200 now.
Oh my goodness.
Just randomly throw a number
and people will pay it.
I don't know.
It's a lot of money, isn't it, in Singapore?
Yeah, I don't think...
No, we haven't seen one in Australia.
They haven't brought one out.
Have they?
Have they?
Roland, I can't remember.
No, I think there was one that was spotted
and it has been ADR approved.
So viewers out there,
make sure, keep your eyes on the road,
if you see some weird three
headlight-shaped car,
take a snap shot.
It's a small car.
We've seen this in person.
It's a small car, honestly.
It's like Insta Ado One size, right?
So again, good for inner city.
But it does look nice on the inside.
I'll give it that.
Yeah.
And they like to deck it out in China, right?
All the auto shows we've been to,
it's always covered with something.
It's always tricked out with a racing wing
or even a bit of fur on it.
Something weird is going on always.
I mean, I guess it's good to use
for marketing or collaborations.
It's easy to cover it with branding
and whatever you're trying to promote.
Yeah.
Probably stands out more as well.
Catches people's attention.
Exactly.
Yeah.
So Nia always splits themselves up
to these auto shows.
Nia, Envo, and then Firefly?
No, maybe not so much Firefly.
So Nia, Envo are always separate stalls.
And you get to see they're charging like this,
charging swap technology.
You've always got a counter,
like three minutes or two,
two and a half minutes later,
it's fully done.
So it's pretty cool.
Is it the mini killer?
Good question.
Mini aceman killer or mini Cooper killer?
At the right price, I think it could be.
We'll see how it drives, I guess.
But I think people still pay for the mini batching
and the kind of, yeah,
it's almost like, yeah.
It's more about the brand for the mini Cooper.
So Roland, question for you, I guess.
Like at 01, 23, 990 drive away.
Insta, I think it's like 40 grand.
Not drive away, sorry.
Before on road, it's about 40 grand.
So what are we talking about?
Nia, it's got to be like 30, 35, do you reckon?
I would say 30, 35.
Yeah, 30 to 35 as a starting point.
I don't think it's going to hit 40s, realistically.
No, 40 is too much.
It's got to be like 130.
Small car at the end of the day.
And I think they want to play within that market,
but at the premium end for the pricing based on what it is.
Yeah, mini EVs are enormous.
So the mini countryman is massive, like huge.
But the aceman is not too bad.
It's still smallish.
It's bigger.
Is it bigger than the Fiat 500?
Yeah, I'd say so.
Fiat 500 is pretty small, yeah.
Good question for us, Joy.
Were there lots of EV scooters in China?
What is the Pope Catholic?
There's so many electric scooters.
It's not funny, honestly.
And so many of them are like right,
what do you call it, food, rideshare, delivery people.
They're just like parked everywhere.
Again, I won't spoil it, but part of the deal
of getting a driver license is to watch
something to do with scooters.
So we'll discuss that in our video,
just to freak you out a little bit.
Just watch out for them because they're everywhere.
Okay.
But yes, I don't think I saw a petrol one.
I think they were all electric.
And they're like charging posts,
I think pretty much every intersection.
So if you're at a four-way intersection,
there'll be four charging posts
where you can just plug in your scooter
and charge it at the lights.
And they're just standard three-point plugs.
Chinese is the same plugs that we have.
So like each box will have like six plugs.
You can just chuck it in.
And then it's like QR code,
I think you just scan your phone again
like with Alipay, I guess.
And then it just does its thing.
See that?
The tech is there for apartments.
You could do that so easily.
It's just people, politics, bureaucracy.
I was going to say, I mean it works there
because there's no vandalism.
Like the bikes that we have last about what?
A day in Sydney or Melbourne
before someone throws it into a river.
There is no crime.
So yeah, it works there,
but I just, I don't see how it would work
with the kind of attitude that people have.
You know, some people have in Australia
to just spoil things for everybody else.
So I think Richard sums this up well,
actually.
The driver lessons video in China is best
for the act like an idiot
and you'll probably die
and we'll miss you up if you suffer from that.
Good summary.
I think Richard's done that video before.
That's a really good summary.
I look forward to seeing that video.
Well, we couldn't show it, obviously.
But we talked about it in the summary.
There is no way.
We were going to like film in a government agency.
Not with cameras watching us everywhere.
It felt like a courtroom, honestly.
I was on my best behaviour.
They'll show you Richard's comment.
Does China feel like the future?
Does it feel like the future?
Yes.
So much so that it actually feels like a sci-fi film.
It doesn't even feel like the future.
It feels like it's almost like not even real.
Parallel universe.
Sometimes dystopian, but generally quite good.
It's quite a good future.
Yeah, that's another tech that needs to come to Australia.
QR code receiving and payment of money.
Yeah, yeah, I think so.
It'll probably happen.
I mean, Australia's pretty cashed us mostly already.
So it's probably a way of doing it.
Yep.
Black Mirror.
Blade Runner.
I mean, Chongqing is like a Blade Runner.
Yeah.
That's cool.
All right, let's keep pushing on.
Can we get the X-Peng Robots as well?
Oh, yeah.
Iron Robot.
Replicants or was it?
No.
Replicants, yeah, for Blade Runner.
It is for Blade Runner.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
It's a fascinating place.
Highly recommend visiting.
Now, we were at the join over at the Mazda 6E Drive Day.
Watch that video if you're interested.
But Jim has spotted more camouflage 6Es in Sydney,
Macquarie Park.
There you go.
I'm always impressed by people who can recognize
what color that is with the camo.
Yeah, it's pretty cool.
And even the color has been shown as well.
Yeah, so there's Tech AU's picture.
There you go.
Was that the color we drove?
I think it might have been, actually.
The Mazda we tested in Lang Lang.
I can't remember.
Yeah, we'll have to look at our video again.
Yeah.
What do you think, Roland?
I mean, is this compelling enough for you,
a Mazda 6 electric version?
Not for me, no.
Not Roland spec enough.
Not yet.
Mazda do make, they have made very nice
and very good sports cars in the past.
So I'll still hold my breath and wait.
But for average people, it's good to see
they're finally getting into the game,
even if it's as a partnership.
For many years, when Tesla was pretty much the only EV brand,
for me personally, I started to think
what's happening with all of these other manufacturers,
the legacy, are they literally going to stay where they are
and just flop over?
But it's good that they're trying to do partnerships
to kind of get ahead of the game
as opposed to trying to do everything themselves
and potentially bust in trying to do that.
Yep, and I will say, and it's the norm in China, by the way.
So at the Guangzhou Water Show, obviously Mazda Deep Power,
and yeah, GAC Toyota, the Ford Bronco was there
in an EV felt form.
I'm sure it's a collab with something else,
VW collab with others as well.
So it's the done thing there.
I think it's smart.
Chinese have the best EV tech, why not?
Why reinvent the wheels, so to speak?
Why not just get them manufactured over there for a good price?
Kia, you know, Kia's got production as well in China, EV5.
It's good.
Okay, yeah, Richard asks, in your time in China,
have you ever seen a homeless person or a rough sleeper?
I don't think I have on a sleeper,
but then we've only stuck to the city yet.
We haven't been to places where we might have had
the potential to see them,
so I don't think it's fair for us to say that we didn't see any.
Yeah, it doesn't mean there isn't any,
we just haven't seen them, that's all.
Good question.
And check this out.
So we know that Tesla Model Y L in China
is being released, which is the longer six year Model Y,
and it looks like they will be releasing a V2 L adapter as well,
free for early owners, which is good, which is good.
And V2G is a thing in China, I think.
So yeah, this is good.
Hopefully Tesla will allow this in Australia as well.
I also hope they bring that YL over here.
Yeah, yeah.
I've not actually sat in that yet,
but I don't know how squashy it is in that third row.
We'll have to see.
It doesn't seem very comfortable,
but then again, I'd like to actually sit in there to just verify it.
I feel like it's an exception,
because you've got the pathway in the middle.
So if you're in the third row,
you could kind of slouch and kind of stretch your leg out.
As opposed to your traditional bench seating,
and then your stuff behind your knees are calmed up.
So I feel like it might make it a little bit more acceptable.
I don't know. I haven't seen it in person too.
I mean, if you've got kids,
then you can put baby seats there.
No problem, I guess.
Yeah.
At the new Model Y Performance,
the same V2 L adapter.
Oh, I don't know.
I don't know.
I'll have to verify that.
That'd be good.
Okay, and final one.
I'll just pop this up here.
So yeah, this is the new X-Plung Mono SUV spy shots.
Let's have a look at this article.
We did not, I don't think we saw this.
We did see a couple of camo cars.
We saw quite a few camo cars.
I'm not the kind of person that can look at a camo car
and go, I know what car that is,
because I get confused by the camera.
I did look through our video.
I don't think it was this shape.
So I mean, this might have seen us,
but I didn't see it, this Mono M03.
We did saw plenty of Mono M03s on the road,
just like in production, but not the SUV camo.
And even a couple parked at HQ as well.
That's some, the pricing in China is a bit, it's very good.
It's almost sad to look at their pricing
because we have to pay a lot more.
Yeah, I mean, it's the country that it comes from.
You can never compare that.
Then again, we are the cheapest country
outside of China to buy EVs,
but still, they get a very good price over there.
Question, yeah, Zika 7 GT or the Xiaomi YU7?
That's a tough one, man.
Really tough one.
I quite like the Xiaomi, honestly.
Yeah, it was pretty sexy.
And the fact that you could buy Xiaomi accessories
to customize the car.
I bet you in the ecosystem.
I know, right?
So, you know, like think of Tesla's sexy knobs
and sexy stalks, but it's built into Xiaomi.
You can already buy those knobs and customize it yourself.
So, yeah.
I think they've got that market wrapped up,
the accessory market.
But I don't know if Xiaomi will come to Australia anytime soon.
They just have trouble meeting their own demand in China.
So, I think Zika 7 GT will be beat that car
before YU7 ever makes it here.
It's more likely, yeah.
Yeah, I think so.
I agree, Richard.
Also, yeah, the YU7 is a higher car,
like it's more like an SUV.
The 7 GTs are definitely a wagon.
Yep.
Okay, well, I think that's pretty much it, guys.
And this is any other, any other news story role
you want to bring up this last minute?
No. Oh, I did have a look.
I think we mentioned earlier on in the show
about the G9 website.
I had a glance, still shows, 2026.
So fingers crossed G9, X9, G6.
G7. That's my favourite, G7.
Nice, like a premium G6.
Bit bigger, a bit more luxurious.
P7 was good too.
Yeah, bring it all.
We don't mind.
I still like the non-aggressive,
non-threatening shape of the G6.
The G6, which can charge faster, 450 kilowatts.
Bring the iron robot while you're at it too.
We need a house cleaner.
Someone to cut the grass for us as well.
So on that note, I'm going to ask you both the question,
because I asked last time as well,
what was the number one highlight,
the number one car that you both liked?
Having your own show.
And you can only pick one.
You're not picking two.
All right, good joy first.
I'll think about it.
Of the cars we saw, X-Peng related.
No, the cars you saw.
Yeah, at the show.
Oh, the Guangzhou show.
Oh, yeah.
Yep.
I mean, for me, it was probably the BYD car in the water,
because that was just so ridiculous.
Just looking at a car.
I can hear the SES going,
do not drive into flood waters.
And this car is just going straight into the water.
But I was thinking, when would this ever be practical?
Because if it was fast-flowing water,
it would still get completely blown away.
So I was watching this car just sort of driving in the water going,
I cannot think of a practical application for this at all.
But I was also like, the sun was like beating down on my head.
I was just looking at it, just totally confused.
So, I mean, that's a highlight for me,
only because it was just so crazy.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
For me, see, I spent all the show looking for this Audi.
It's Chinese Audi, right?
It looks like it's a wagon.
Right.
It's advertised everywhere.
I was like, where is it?
Where is it right?
With a really gorgeous-looking tennis player, I think.
So that's what I think he was looking for.
That helped.
Yeah, gorgeous-looking Chinese tennis player.
But it was like, just imagine the P7,
but out of fire, basically, a nice wagon shape.
So I was looking for it.
Because we were there quite early, right?
Like before they'd done any of the launches.
So I was like, where is this car?
So I went back in the afternoon,
and it's on the video too.
So it's like a wagon, Audi, the same purple color.
Once again, I'm the one that said
we should go back to the Audi stand,
because there is no way that they would be promoting this
everywhere, and they wouldn't have the car actually there.
So we found it.
We walked all the way back to the hall that it was in,
and then all the way,
and it was at the far end to walk back to Audi.
And then he's like, oh, there it is, up on the stage.
Yeah, yeah, it was a long day, but we found it.
So that's my highlight.
So I don't think that'll ever come to Australia.
That's like a Chinese Audi.
So that was my highlight.
Cool.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, thanks, Roland, again for your time as always.
Thanks for joining us.
And likewise, thanks to all the viewers too,
and all the commenters.
Thank you, viewers.
And shout out to Riz.
Hope you have a good time there.
We'll see you next time on the show.
Thank you to Joy for joining us today, of course,
to talk about her experience in China.
It's always good to have everyone.

And from Joy and myself and Roland, happy charging, guys.
And we'll see you next week.
See you around.
Thanks, all.
