LIVE
We're sitting there in the auction, and Ben and I are like, you know, Dad's back would bother him, and like, I was like, I didn't want to keep sitting, and we're like, hey, like, we bought the Suburban, why don't we just go sit in the Suburban?
So, we literally, all three of us were just sitting in the Suburban, watching the auction inside the auction house, and people are coming up, and they're like, do you own this? We're like, yep.
So, we're sitting there in the auction, and Ben and I are like, you know, Dad's back.
Hey there, Life Plus Cars Community. Today's episode will feature Brendan giving us a recap of his time in Carlisle for the big auction there, and we're also going to find out which cars that the Bailey family went home with. So, let's hear from Brendan now.
So, yeah, so the car show. So, give you the recap. So, yeah, we got down there, Dad and I drove down, Wednesday morning we left, and the timing was perfect. Like, the drive went off without a hitch, took Joan's car, it took us right around eight hours to get there, but the timing was perfect.
We got to Harrisburg, right as Ben arrived in Harrisburg. So, like, we pulled into the airport to pick him up, and he had been waiting for like five minutes off the airplane. So, the timing was pristine.
So, we got Ben, we got to Carlisle, and then we had dinner at this little restaurant called like, Pit Street Station or something like that. So, it was good. Then we went to the hotel and went to bed, and then next morning, bright and early, we got up and we did the, we did the Doug Henry, or no, the Ian Henry and Doug Henry blasts from me as we went to Cracker Barrel instead of having the continental breakfast.
Well, if you're in Carlisle, where else are you going to go? It's got to be Cracker Barrel.
Well, Dad was so funny. We were just like, so, we went to the continental, and like, we looked at it, and he's like, let's go to Cracker Barrel.
All right. So, we went to Cracker Barrel, and then, we went to the auction. So, we, like, literally the first and second day, so Thursday and Friday, we were just at the auction house the whole day.
But that first day there, like, as you know, like, we had the list of cars, right, that we wanted to look at that, like, the ones I was all gung-ho on, like, the 67 DeVille and the 72 Ford truck.
Right. I mean, there's a bunch of cars that I was like, yeah, I got to check these out. Like, that Cadillac, like, it's just a perfect example of, like, on the surface, it looked great.
Right.
But, oh, underneath, man, that thing was the biggest piece of crap.
Like, so, first thing is like, those things rotted out so bad in, like, the trunk area, like, back in the 60s, so I climbed under the back of it.
You could see that, like, the trunk pan had rotted out, right, like, there were all these holes in it, like, big holes.
And they actually glued, like, a replacement trunk pan over the top of it.
So, when you opened the trunk, it looked like, oh, that's, like, nice, painted up metal, but then from underneath, it's like, oh.
Like, they literally just, like, glued it in around the seams, like, right in.
I don't know why. They'll never notice, yeah.
And then the gas tank was held up with ratchet straps.
Oh, this way.
I was just like, what is that? And I was like, oh, like, it's held up with ratchet straps.
Okay. And then, like, behind the tires where the rear quarters come down, like, on the sides, totally rotted out.
And I was just like, yeah, like, this is not to be reckoned with.
Like, Dad and I immediately are like, nope.
And Ben's like, oh, yeah, like, I mean, you could get it for, like, you know, five grand or something, right?
We were like, no, it's just not worth it. It's just not worth it.
Like, and it sold for $12,000. The Ford F-250, like, that was, that was another example of, like, it was way rougher than anticipated.
And, you know, it's like, it's all about what you want to do or the effort you're willing to put into them.
But, yeah. And what did the, what did the F-250 need? Or, what, or.
I mean, I, I chalked the Ford up to the same condition as, like, my dad's Willy's Jeep.
Right? So, like, if you wanted to buy that truck and you, like, had, like, an old farm out west or something,
and you were just going to haul some hay in it or, you know, take it up on the mountain and go hunting,
it's like, that'd probably be the truck.
But if you wanted to buy it to try to fix it up to make money, it's like, it's not, it just needed too much.
Like, it was all original. It was from out west, but it had been clearly used very much so as a truck.
Yeah. It was, it was showing its age. It was.
Yes, it was tired. Like, very tired. Like, I mean, dense everywhere. Paint was horrible.
Needed some body work. Needed motor work. Needed, like, everything, you know?
So, not worth it. And that actually, that, that went up on the block.
And I was like, I was like, I'll buy it if it goes for like five grand.
It's like, but it got up to nine and then it didn't sell.
Like, you know, they just were like, oh, it didn't meet the reserve, like, you know, send it along.
So, the diesel suburban, I don't know if you remember me talking about that, the three-quarter ton diesel.
Yeah, what shit was that? The 90s one or the?
Yeah, 99. 99, three-quarter ton verb with the six-five diesel.
That was, it was in really, really good shape.
Like, body and interior were almost flawless.
And it was clear that it was like a highway car, right?
Like, the people that had it towed a trailer or something, but it was just like, it was highway.
But the big thing was it had 180,000 miles on it.
So, it was one of those things where like, Dad's like, yeah, we're not bidding on that.
And I was like, I was like, I'll buy it if it goes for cheap enough.
You know, like, someone will buy that up in New Hampshire.
It's just all about price, right?
But that ended up going to, I think it was 16,014 or 16 somewhere in there.
And I can't remember if it's sold or not.
But as soon as it hit like six grand, I was like, yeah, I'm not, nope.
Like, I'm not buying that.
Do you think it was the combination of the condition in that it had the six-five in it?
That was like, what was driving the bidding up?
Yes. Well, the diesel, that's pretty rare for the suburban.
Yes.
So that one was interesting.
But then it's funny too, because then like the other side of it is there were the vehicles that popped up that we didn't plan on bidding on that we did, right?
Yes.
Because we like, we looked at them and we were like, oh my God, like these are amazing.
And so like one of them obviously is the 96-verb that's sitting in my garage right now.
Okay, yes.
Yes, talk to us about that one.
Yeah.
Oh my God, yeah.
You would love this thing.
It was a featured car at the auction.
So when you walk in, because you've been there, it's like inside the Expo Center.
That's right.
They hold the auction.
It was like one of the featured cars, like front and center inside the Expo.
So it was like the seating area.
And then like the stage is here.
Yeah.
And then like back here was like five cars in a row.
And the suburban was like front and center, like the window stickers in it and like all the information in the windows.
And like, I mean we're talking pristine.
Like everyone was like, look at that.
I mean, it's brand new.
It's a time, it's a literal time capsule.
96 suburban, 60,000 one owner miles on it.
Holy smokes.
It's a 1500, but it's four-wheel drive.
It's got like pretty much every option except for just like a couple little things.
But like leather, it's got heated seats.
It's got CD player, tape player, four-wheel drive.
Yeah, it's awesome.
It's awesome.
Wow.
And it's dark red with copper colored stripes on the side.
Oh, the two-tone.
Like the two-tone, yes.
And then tan interior.
Yeah.
Oh, that is like the 90s suburban of our dreams.
So that was like in every Disney movie or like every like family movie that like they roll up in that color.
Like the maroon with the copper color.
You would love it.
Hold on.
Hold on.
I'll grab the window sticker.
Oh, you know what the name of the color is without Googling it.
Oh boy.
I don't know.
Bert Sienna metallic.
Maroon.
All right.
So it's the interior is neutral custom leather.
Neutral custom leather.
The exterior is for the two-tone.
It is the light autumn wood and the dark red is cherry red metallic.
Oh, what a combo.
Oh, I mean it's stunning.
It's stunning.
Yeah.
But anyway, so this, so this suburban, so like we see it and immediately, I mean, like
I said, everyone that's walking through there is like, and there's Corvettes.
There's 57 Chevy's.
There's a beautiful 57 Cadillac El Dorado.
There's 69 Camaro SS is 396 Chevelle's.
I mean, there's everything, everything in this featured area, right?
And then there's just this suburban.
Yeah.
So me and my dad brother and I are like, oh my God, like look at this thing.
Like this is amazing.
Like you open the doors.
It smells new.
Immaculate.
Yeah.
It's crazy.
That one hits the auction block and it goes up to like 24 grand and it stops.
And it's just like, you know, it takes more to buy it and they move it on.
So it's just like the buy goes on, right?
Yep.
Yep.
So like I talked to dad, talked to Ben.
I did some research on like bring a trailer, cars and bids.
Like, you know, as I'm sitting there on my phone and I'm like, they have a
kiosk that if a car doesn't sell, you talk to one of the auction guys.
And like they have listed there like what the car was and what the last
asking price was and you can put an offer in as long as it's above that
price.
I was like, Oh, it stopped at 24.
Do you know what it takes to buy it?
And the guy's like, I just know it gets closer to 30.
And I was like, well, there's no way I'm paying 30 for it.
I was like, I'll tell you what, I'll get you call up the owner.
I'll give him 26 and see what he says.
So he's like, all right, I'll call you back.
So like an hour later, he called me.
He's like, yeah, he took it.
So sold.
Yep.
But I'll tell you right now that after driving it home and then
drive it, like I just drove it down to Warner, New Hampshire
earlier today and then drove it home from Pennsylvania, obviously,
and drove it up to Woodsville, New Hampshire last night.
Yeah.
I was like, this is, this was worth every penny.
Like this thing needs nothing.
It's like, it's literally perfect.
As soon as I got it from the auction, like I took it to
Valway and they changed your oil and they greased it and they
checked it all over and they were like fricking the
transmission fluid cool.
Like all the fluids look good.
Like, you know, send this baby.
I was like, all right.
So there you go.
You know, clean bill of health.
That sounds and what a great.
And everything works.
Like all the lights work.
Yeah.
Works.
The heat works.
Like, I mean, it's crazy.
All the windows work.
Oh my gosh.
And it's 30 years old and you wouldn't know it.
Oh, it's a testament to GM back in the olden days built in
Wisconsin.
Yeah.
It's just like, as I said, like, and so he takes me
back to like childhood because there were so many.
I mean, we grew up in that era that like all like all the
families, the big families had the suburban like they go to
soccer practice or you'd see them rolling around and
picking up up at that after school or all that.
I'm like, I just, I so think of growing up in early
childhood and I think of that that era suburban.
Oh, change completely agrees.
Exactly.
Same thing, especially that era.
Yes.
Especially that air because I mean that is our
childhood.
I love those suburban and man.
Oh, wow.
Oh, I hope.
I hope I can get to get to see this thing.
Oh yeah.
Well, I mean, I can't sell it till I get the title.
So that'll probably be like a month or something.
So I assume you'll be up to see it before then.
Yes.
And you've got to see the drum roll.
Wait.
70 R.
Yes.
That I got the proud owner of a V 70 R.
Oh, do I have some stories for you on that car?
Yeah.
So.
We could do a whole episode on the trials and
tribulations of Brendan buying his dream Volvo
minus the six speed.
The M 66 space ball shifter.
Yeah.
Hey, maybe that's that.
That'll be our first like YouTube content.
Just do a bunch of shorts of like, here's what's
broken on the Volvo today.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, so.
Okay.
So before, before I get into the Volvo, the
buyers are more seemed to come full circle to I said,
is it cracked me up is to paint your picture during
all this and then immediately after, you know,
when they ran that suburban through that ended up
buying, they parked it back where it was as like
the featured vehicle, but they had it facing
the auction block when they parked it like
behind all the seats were so we're sitting
there in the auction and Ben and I are like,
you know, dad's back was bothering him and like I
was like, I didn't want to keep sitting and we're
like, hey, like we bought the suburban.
Why don't we just go sit in the suburban?
So we literally all three of us were just sitting
in the suburban watching the auction inside the
ox has people are coming up and they're like,
do you own this?
We're like, yeah.
Fantastic.
Oh my gosh.
If you did, I don't know if you guys got a
picture of that, but man.
Oh, oh, I did.
Oh good.
Good.
I wanted to give you the old recap because it's just,
oh man.
I thought we had.
Yes.
Like that is just quintessential bayways right
there.
Like, you know, we've got a truck sitting back there.
This is a good idea.
We've got some comfy leather seats sitting back
there.
Yep.
So we did.
We were sitting it.
So like at one point, like right after we bought
the truck, we're sitting there.
The suburban dad and I, and Ben walks up to us,
like, and we got the window open.
He walks up and he's like, hey, he's like, you guys
ever get buyer's remorse and dad immediately goes
all the time.
All the time.
And Ben's like, well, I'm not, I'm not talking
about me.
I was just curious if you guys do.
And I was like, I was like, Ben, dad's right.
Like I get it all the time.
I was like, but here's the deal.
I was like, I've bought and sold enough cars
that I'll tell you right now.
It's too early.
For me to know if I've got it like for the
suburban or the Volvo, because I'd even bought
the Volvo or the suburban.
So I was just like, the Volvo is a
crap shoot.
Yeah.
We'll see.
Let's see.
You got to wait to find out.
Yeah.
And then I got, I got a couple other juicy
tidbits for you.
So the other one that was just absolutely
hilarious was there is a 69 El Camino.
That was going through the auction.
That was another one that like we didn't have
any desire to own, but dad looked at it
and he was like, he's always liked those.
He was like, wow, like, he's like, it's a
four speed.
It's bench seat.
It's a 396.
It's got factory air.
He's like, it's, it's been redone.
He's like, that's beautiful.
So it gets bit up to like, I think it
was like 23 or 24,000.
It's like stalled out.
It's like, I don't know.
It's like 24,000.
It's like stalled out and then dad's
sitting there and he bids on it.
Right.
And like Ben and I are like, whoa, like
really?
He's been done it.
So the, the auctioneer goes, and we
have no money, no money in the house.
And then he goes back to the old, the
other person.
He's just like, you know, 24 five.
And then the other guy bids and he
comes back to dad and dad goes, no,
the guy, he actually stops the
auction and he's like, sir, he's
like, sir, that is illegal.
In the state of Pennsylvania to bid
one time and then not again.
And he's like, you need another bid.
Dad's like, he's like, no, that's
but anyway, that didn't end up
bidding on it like three or four
more times, but it, I think it
sold for like 26 or eight or
something.
Yeah.
So that one was hilarious.
Oh my God.
It's getting called out.
Oh yeah.
Then the other one that you
would love.
Yes.
Ben and I are like outside, like
checking out the cars outside the
auction and dad's inside.
We come inside and we're like, hey,
where's dad?
We're like looking for him in the
crowd where all the people are
sitting bidding and he sees us
and he starts going like this
in the auction.
Oh no.
Oh no.
Stops the auction and goes, sir,
sir, if you're waving at people,
we may take that as a bid.
So keep your hand down unless you
intend to bid.
And dad's like, we're embedded there
and we're like, stop, stop.
No, no, no, no, no, no.
Oh my gosh.
Do you know like what car was
happened to be going through at
that point?
No idea.
It was like, it was like some,
I have no idea.
It was just crock or bronco or
yeah.
Sir.
Sir.
They literally stopped the
actually like, sir, sir.
This guy again.
Yeah, pretty much.
Yeah.
So that, that was funny.
That's right.
But yeah, I didn't have the warm,
fuzzy feelings with the Volvo after
I bought it.
They, uh,
what they pushed it off stage
and I went out.
I was like, well, Ben, let's go
look at the Volvo I just bought.
Went out.
The battery was dead.
Oh, that's good.
So I came out and jerked it.
I was like, well, all right,
at least he jump started it.
Wow.
And so, yeah.
So you had,
you had your eye on that one
and did you just get it from what
you were hoping for?
The hammer price was 10,000.
10K.
Okay.
Yeah.
Little more than I would have
liked, but it's clean.
Yes.
And after getting it back to
the house, it is, it's very
clean.
The only thing on it body wise
that I'm not a huge fan of is,
it does have a small dent in
the left rear door down low,
like a little crease.
Yeah.
And then the driver's seat has
one seam that has popped,
like on the back.
And I don't like that.
But besides that,
it's actually very clean.
Like the underside is not rusty
at all.
But it's just, you know,
I think it was either an older
person or something owned it
because it's got like curb
rash on all the wheels and
it's got like little dings
here and there and all the
bumpers and all that.
But no, the Volvo,
so like the saga with that is,
you know, obviously the,
the battery was dead.
So after we bought that and
then bought the suburban,
that was on the same day.
But the next day I was like,
before we went to the auction,
I was like, let's go to the
auto parts store and I'm
going to get a battery.
We'll swap a battery into the
Volvo, you know,
make sure the tow truck can
come get it and actually
starts, right?
Did that.
And I gave it a good once over.
And it had like,
it was missing its fog lights
and it had,
like if you turn the AC on,
like the blower motor was
vibrating.
But it looked like it,
it looked like it had the
timing belt done a few years
ago and some maintenance
stuff done to it.
So, you know,
overall I was like, all right,
like I won't know the full
story till I get home,
right?
So I arranged to have it
shipped 500 bucks to ship
it from Pennsylvania up to
my house.
So not too bad.
I haven't even driven it
yet.
I literally just put it right in
the garage and then took the
front clip all apart just to
see what was broken and all
that.
But since I've got it in the
garage and I've actually had a
chance to like put it up on
the lift and look it over
and change the oil and I've
done like I changed the
brake fluid, the oil,
the cooling system,
like just giving it a real
good once over.
Like it's in really good
shape.
Like there's no rust on it
at all.
It looks like it's had some
good service over the years.
Yeah.
So I mean and everything
works on it as far as I can
tell except for I did find
the driver's side
headlamp wiper doesn't
work.
So I ordered a new motor for
that or a new used motor
because the motor was seized.
So yeah.
But besides that,
she seems to be doing all right.
So I mean great.
I mean great color combo
electric silver over Nord Cap.
That's oh yeah.
That's a nice combo.
And it's a final model year
like oh seven.
I know if that was a manual,
I'd be keeping it.
But if it was a manual,
it would have sold for 20.
Right.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And then oh yeah, it needs
tires.
So three of the four are
pretty much the belts are
showing on the inside edge.
So yeah.
And they're old.
The front setter from
2016 and the rear is from
2018.
So I mean I've just done
little stuff like a change
of cabin air filter,
change of air filter,
change of oil,
found like a bunch of
leaves inside the blower
motor.
Took those out so that doesn't
vibrate anymore.
Yeah.
Like I said,
just servicing it and fixing
little things.
So I ordered new fog lights
for it and I'll put those in.
Yeah.
I mean you know me.
By the time I get done
going through it,
she'll be right.
And I can't wait to drive it
because oh it has,
it's been a dream car.
I just,
I can't wait to get behind
the wheel.
Yeah.
I mean I was thrilled to
just see it.
I was like yes,
yes.
I mean gosh,
it was just the best
long roof out there.
I mean,
oh,
with those wheels.
And I love the silver.
Love it.
That silver really works
on that,
on that car.
Oh man.
You could almost say
it's electric.
It's,
it's electric.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean,
I,
I,
I'm excited to hear how it
drives once you get there
as far as how,
how that,
it's like the five speed
auto.
Yeah,
five speed automatic.
It is shiftable.
Like you can put it
up and down with it.
So,
but yeah,
I want to take it on some
corners with that active
suspension.
So,
yeah,
as far as I can tell in terms
of options,
I think it's,
it's a pretty full dresser
except for I think it
doesn't have a,
you could get like the
upgraded headlights that
like turn with the steering
wheel.
It does not have those.
So.
Yeah.
Did it come with
the window sticker?
No,
no window sticker.
Yeah.
But they do all,
they all came with that.
I think all of the Rs
had that Atacama
leather
owner's manual, right?
Yes.
And that is in there.
Yes.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
Beautiful.
I wish,
I wish it had that.
I'd probably keep it if it
had that silver over
Atacama.
Oh,
oh my God.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So it's,
so it's been good.
I mean,
it's,
I was worried
because it's just one of
the things they said it's,
this one that I've got,
it's been like down in
Pennsylvania its whole life.
And it,
it is solid.
I mean,
I can't find a specker rust
on it.
So.
And that's huge.
Yeah.
I mean,
that's half the battle.
Oh,
absolutely.
And it's got new brakes on
it, which that's,
I mean,
that's pretty big money.
So thank God,
I want to do that.
When it went across the
block,
did they actually say

Carlisle here. So yes, we did the two days of the auctions,
looked at a bunch of cars. Oh, the other funny thing that
happened was the Volvo was Thursday. So Friday, we're
there. And I'm out changing the battery in the Volvo. And this
guy and his girlfriend walked by and they're younger than us.
And he's like, Oh, that's an R way. He's like, Oh, he's
like, I got an S 60 R. Like, I love it. Like, oh, he's
great car. I'm like working on. He's like, he's like,
you own this thing. And I was like, Yeah, you want to buy it
15 green. He's like, Oh, I don't think so. I got mine. I was
like, boy, she'd look pretty good behind the wheel on this
thing. Like, what do you say? Come on, buddy. Son, this time
just step right up. It's yours. He's like, he's like, what
do you think? And she's like, No. All right, well, never
mind. That's gonna be a no. It's like, yeah, boy, if I could
turn right around and make 45 hundred bucks, we'd be pretty
happy about that. Seriously. They're like, take it off my
hands. Yeah. It's like, I'll get I'll tell you what, I'll
let you have it for 14 eight. How's that? Yeah. There you
go. New battery. Yeah, new battery. Ice cold air highway
miles tree. Yeah. Easy miles. That's easy miles. Easy
miles. Save reliable family wagon. Yeah. But yeah, that was
good. No, so yeah. And then what was it? So Saturday, even
though Ben and I didn't feel good, that was the only day
that we actually went around the fairgrounds. So we in
the morning, went back to the auction site and looked at
like the truck and the Volvo and the suburban and got the
suburban like out of the auction site because it was
inside still. So I had to get them to move some cars,
get it outside in the lot. Yes. And then because I brought my
dealer plate, right? Like we went to the show, walked around,
bought a bunch of parts for Ben's truck. I got a bunch of
stuff for Ruby because there was this vendor there that only
sold in Paula parts, which I'd never heard of before. Whoa.
And those guys were awesome. There are a couple old guys
in there. They talk, you're talking about what do you
mean? It's just like, yeah. Yeah. It's like, it's like 67 SS
427. They're like, that's a rare. I was like, yeah, it's like,
it's a beautiful car. We named it Ruby. They're like, you
name your cars? Yeah. It's like, you heard of my podcast
life plus cars, right? Here's my car. The car name
episode. Here you go. What's your name? Ian Henry?
Call me. Yeah. So anyway, that was fun finding that and then we
left went back to where the cars were at the auction because
they're just a short walk from the the fairgrounds. And I put
the plate on the burb drove it back to the hotel or I drove
to Valveline get the oil changed. And dad and Ben are
driving behind me. And they're like, they call me and they're
like, Hey, like, are you on the brake pedal right now? I'm
like, yeah, like your brake lights don't work. I was like, Oh
joy. So I'm like, okay, so I go to Valveline. And I'm like
waiting in line to go in for an oil change. And this guy
comes out and he's like, What are you doing? I've got
like the flashers on and all the lights and I'm like
looking. And I was like, my my brake lights aren't working.
It's like step on the brake pedal for me. It's like, yep,
nothing. So I was like, all right. I was like, it's got to be
the because the flashers use the same bulb. I was like, it's
got to be the brake light switch, which is real common on
those OBS Chevy's to go bad. So I was like, you guys change
your oil, grease it up, check. I was like, I want everything
checked all the fluids, like everything go right through it.
Just make sure she's good to go. And I walked over to
auto zone, got a brake light switch left, made it back to the
hotel by turning the parking lights on every time I had to
hit the brake pedal. So I didn't want to get pulled over, you
know, right? And then out in the parking lot, I swapped the
brake light switch. So turns out not easy to get to when
you've got big meat hooks for hand. There you go. And like
true vice grip style, they're out in the hotel parking
lot. Yes. Yes. I did think of Derek Bieri. I was just like,
yep, this is this is pretty classic. And I felt kind of bad.
My brother is so sweet. You know, he's just like, he's like,
what can I help you with? Like, let me help. And I was like,
Ben, listen, I was like, I'm not trying to be mean. I was
like, but you would not be able to help because there's no
room under here. And I don't want you to try to do it
because you have no idea what you're doing. He's, he's
like, fair enough. But I could use a water. He's like,
I'll be right back. But anyway, I got that swap put it back
together had to do one run to the parts store to get long
pliers because my Leatherman was not touching it. So to put a
little clip back on to hold it in place. And then yeah, like I
told you before, the next morning, right, we got up
early and then I hit the highway with it. She didn't
skip a beat and had the crew set it like 80 miles per hour
the whole way Pennsylvania to Vermont just cruising. Oh,
that's beautiful. Yeah, filled the gas tank up 42 gallon
tank filled it up 42 gallons. Yeah, I went from Wow, just
outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to my driveway in
half a tank. So that's, that's good. I mean, that's not
bad mileage really when you think about it. Yeah, it's
probably getting 1517 miles per gallon somewhere. Yeah. Hey,
yeah, she's running like a dream. Like a champ. Oh, what a
beautiful spec. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Cherry red. Mm hmm. Cherry red
metallic with what was it light? Autumn light autumn wood
awesome wood. It's very fit. I mean, you bet you bought
probably the most fall themed vehicle there. I mean,
that color combo. It is very seasonal of you. Oh yeah. Well,
and like I said to like the Volvo like the more I look at it
like I'm happy with the Volvo. Like I'm sure there'll be
something else that creeps up with it. But right now, like
I'm pretty happy with it. So yeah, and it's your first real
introduction to one of these cars. I've always wanted the V
70 are so this is enough about it. Well, you know, if I
drive it around and I like it very much as much as I would
hoped I would then the hunt for a manual will commence
it drastically. It'll be knocked up considerably in the next
car list.
Oh, if you you'll have to you'll have to send me updates. I
can put it on our Instagram. Oh yeah. When are you coming up
to drive that baby? Oh, it's gotta be gotta be soon. But I
do need to see it. I will hopefully still have the
suburban at that point. I hope so. Wow. So there we go. Carl
isle. Yeah, so that that's pretty much it. Yeah, that's so
then yeah, drove home. No problem. Then dad drove home
like a few hours later behind me. Yeah. Yeah, overall was
good. It was a good trip. Like we had a good time. I think
my brother really had a good time and and yeah, really
enjoyed it. I mean, wish you were there obviously. So
yeah, but it was super last minute. So that's my bed. And
well, I would just like one of those like, Hey, should we go to
Carl this year? My brother was like, hell yeah, I'll fly in. I
could take time off and my brother, my dad was like, I'll
sign up to be a bidder. Okay. Like, oh, wow, this is like,
we know weeks in the making. He's like, All right, we're
doing it. Yep. I mean, that's really I mean, how cool and
then memorable that the three of you got to spend that
time together. So yeah, it was nice. I know I think my
brother appreciated it the most. So yeah, he really hasn't
done stuff like that with my dad and I like the car things
really mean my dad. So yeah, it's true. Yeah, him being there,
he was just like, So this is what you guys like to do, you
know, and it was funny, like we'd be sitting there watching
the auction and dad and I will be like a car account be
like, Oh, that'll probably be like 28 29 grand and then it
would sell for like 28 29 Ben's like, how do you guys know
that? Like, because we're always watching auctions, we're
buying stuff like that's why you guys have a yep, we got that
pulse on the market. Always. Yeah, well, if you keep up with
it all the time, it makes it easier. Remember, it's a
sickness. We've got that crazy car disease. Yeah, it's a
disease. Yeah. Yeah. Really, you can only treat the
symptoms. Not the not there's no cure. There's no cure. Right.
No care. The only treatment is buy more cars. Right. Yes. Well,
there you have it everyone. We hope you enjoyed this shorter
episode where Brendan talked about all the fun and
surprises that he and his brother and dad all got to
experience together there at the fall Carlisle auction and
swap meet there down in Pennsylvania. Certainly was a
lot of fun to hear all of the antics that they got up to and
I'm sure we'll be hearing plenty more from Brendan in the
future about his new suburban and the Volvo v 70 are and
plenty more stories to come. So thank you as always
listeners for joining us for tuning in and we look forward
to seeing you on the next drive.
