Speaker 1: This is Autoline Daily, the show dedicated to enthusiasts of the global automotive industry. Yesterday we showed you the market
cap of the top twenty two car companies in the world.
Their average value is eighty four billion dollars. If you
don't include Tesla, which has a crazy valuation, it's forty three billion. But another thing that caught our eye is
that Uber has a market cap of two hundred and two billion dollars. That's more than any automaker except for
Tesla and Toyota. Uber has been growing and is finally profitable,
but what seems to be getting the interest of investors is its robotaxi deals with Waimo in Volkswagen and in China.
Robotaxi operator by Dew has a market cap of thirty point five billion dollars, which is higher than Stalantis and at least nine other automakers. This seems to indicate that
the stock market really likes the future earning potential of robotaxis.
Speaker 2: That could bode well.
Speaker 1: For Tesla, which Elon says will expand its robotaxi service to San Francisco in a month or two.
Speaker 2: Maybe automakers like.
Speaker 1: General Motors and Ford are going to come to regret that they gave up on the technology too early. BMW
reported as second quarter sales and it just barely eked out again. Including Minni and Rolls Royce, BMW sold more
than six hundred and twenty one thousand vehicles, which was up zero point four percent compared to last year. It's
fully electric vehicles outpaced the rest of the lineup and were up almost three percent to more than one hundred and eleven thousand units.
Speaker 2: BMW would have.
Speaker 1: Had an even better quarter if it wasn't for slumping demand in China, where its sales were down nearly fourteen percent.
Sales in Europe were up ten percent, and in the US they were up one point four percent. Japanese automakers
are the sacrificing profits to remain competitive as the US teriffs go into effect by cutting the prices of vehicles exported into the country. According to the Bank of Japan,
the export price index for car ship to North America dropped nineteen percent in June compared to a year ago, the largest drop in its records, which.
Speaker 2: Go back to twenty sixteen.
Speaker 1: The Bank of Japan is worried that profits will drop an impact automaker's ability to keep raising wages, which is an important component of the bank sustainable inflation goal. Ford
and Stilantis don't like US tariffs on important components, and they're demanding concessions from their suppliers to offset higher costs.
Crane's Detroit Business reports that automakers are changing the terms and conditions of their supplier contracts. For example, Ford used
to let suppliers back out of a contract on a yearly basis if they wanted to, but not anymore. That's
because supply were able to use the thread of backing out of a contract to demand higher prices. Stillantis is
agreeing to price hikes due to terras on a case by case basis, but is demanding that suppliers agree to a cost savings plan, or in other words, they can raise prices now but have to cut them later. Other
automakers are working with suppliers to mitigate the costs of the terrace as well. But Ford and Stillants have a
reputation for using hard nosed tactics and they have the worst relations with suppliers. Based on Plant Moran's latest Workings
Relation Index.

Speaker 1: Hondai officially revealed the Ionic six N, the performance version of its all electric sedan. It features an eighty four
kilo one hour battery pack that's paired with a dual motor setup, which can produce up to roughly four hundred and eighty kilo LA watts or six hundred and forty horse power. That's double the power of a standard all
wheel drive Ionic six and we'll move the end from zero to one hundred kilometers an hour in three point two seconds. And our rework battery management system means that
you can repeat those numbers time and time again, or put more laps on the track. On top of that
performance boost, the six end also gets a fully redesigned suspension geometry and re engineered chassis, including electronically controlled dampers, as well as unique wheels and tires additional aero dynamic elements in sports seats to keep your butt from sliding around.
The Ionic five En has all the same upgrades and specs as the six end, but we really liked our time in the five N so we can't wait to get our hands on this version. No word on when
the model will go on sale yet, though, Shaomie Sue seven sedan has been a big hit and chin since its debut just over a year ago, and not surprisingly, it now has the strongest resale value amongst all pure electric vehicles. According to the China Automobile Dealers Association, the
Sous seven has a one year resale value of nearly ninety percent. It's followed by the Ido M nine at
eighty four percent, the Leato Mega minivan at seventy nine percent, The Tesla Model AX comes in at seventy seven percent, and the Model three rounds out the top five at seventy six percent. Mazda pulled the wraps off the all
new CX five crossover. While styling is very similar to
the outgoing model, the wheelbase is actually three inches longer.
It's four and a half inches longer overall and over half an inch wider. Mazda says it really applied that
extra space to the rear seat.
Speaker 2: And cargo area of the vehicle.
Speaker 1: The dashboard has a pretty simple layered look, except for a large floating display screen in the middle. Power will
come from a two and a half liter four cylinder engine that makes one hundred and eighty seven horse power and is made it to a six speed automatic transmission for the first time. The CX five will also come
with a hybrid, but that setup won't launch until sometime in twenty twenty seven. However, the standard gas version hits
the market early next year. Maserati is renaming its roughly
two hundred and fifty thousand dollars in house developed supercar from the MC twenty to the Mcpura, and other than a new paint color and a few changes to materials and finishes, the name is about all that's different, but it's still powered by a three liter twin turbov six that makes about six hundred and twenty horse power and features a carbon fiber body that keeps total weight under fifteen hundred.
Speaker 2: Kilograms or thirty three hundred pounds, So.
Speaker 1: It's got all the makings for a real four on drive.
We've got Sandy Monroe coming on Auto line after hours at three pm Eastern time today. He has a lot
to say about what the US needs to do about boosting its manufacturing capabilities. We also want to get his
views on what will happen to the EV segment with the US government gutting support for electrics.
Speaker 2: And we'd like to hear what he thinks is going.
Speaker 1: On at Tesla and that fight between Elon Musk and President Trump. This ought to be a good one, so
join John and Gary when the action gets going. But
that's a wrap for this show and I hope to see you later today. Autoline Daily is brought to you
