An electric hypercar is a really fast and expensive car that runs on electricity instead of gasoline. They are known for their high performance and cool designs.
EVs stand for electric vehicles, which run on electricity instead of gasoline. They are better for the environment because they produce fewer harmful emissions.
The Nissan Rogue is a type of SUV that is popular for its size and comfort. The new version will be able to drive using only electricity for a certain distance.
The Nissan Ariya is a new electric SUV from Nissan. It can drive for a long distance using just electricity, which is great for people who want to avoid gas stations.
The Nissan Frontier is a type of truck that can carry heavy loads and is often used for work or outdoor activities. It's known for being tough and reliable, and now there's talk about a new version that can use electricity to help save fuel and reduce pollution.
Stellantis is a big car company that makes many different brands of cars. It was created when two companies, Fiat Chrysler and PSA Group, joined together.
Total Energies is a big energy company from France that works with oil and gas but is also getting into making energy from renewable sources and batteries for electric cars.
Gigawatt hours is a way to measure how much energy a battery can store. It's like saying how much power you have in a big battery for things like electric cars.
Company
LG
LG is a large company from South Korea that makes many products, including batteries for electric cars. They help car manufacturers by providing the power needed for electric vehicles.
City hands-free driving means the car can drive itself in city traffic without you having to steer or control it. It's like having a smart assistant that helps you drive in busy areas.
Holographic windshield displays show important information right on the windshield, so drivers can see it while driving without looking down at a screen.
Head-up displays are screens that show information like speed and navigation right in front of the driver, so they don't have to look away from the road.

Speaker 1: This is Autoligne Daily, the show dedicated to enthusiasts of the global automotive industry. Well, here's an interesting development, to
say the least Chinese automaker. BYD is suing the US government,
challenging the teriff it imposed under the IEEPA or the International Emergency Economic Powers Act. The lawsuit is specifically targeted
against Christy Nome, the head of Homeland Security, Scott Descent, the head of the US Treasury, Jamison Greer, the US Trade Representative, and Rodney Scott, the head of US Customs.
The lawsuit targets nine executive orders issued by the Trump administration and specifically challenges teriffs targeting Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and India.
BYD has four subsidiaries in the US that make electric buses, batteries, motors and provide services. And they're the ones who have
filed the lawsuit. And here's our auto line insight. BYD
has a good chance of winning this lawsuit. The US
Supreme Court is currently evaluating the legality of the Trump administration's use of the IEEPA to impose tariffs. The Act
was signed into law by President Jimmy Carter in nineteen seventy seven to be used for extreme emergencies like the outbreak of war. Many in the legal community believe that
President Trump overstepped the boundaries of the law, but they also believe that if the Supreme Court rules against Trump, he will simply turn to Section two thirty two of the Trade Expansion Act and put those tariffs back in place.
We won't have to wait long to see how this is going to go. We're expecting a ruling from the
Court in just a matter of weeks. And byd isn't
the only Chinese automaker that wants to get into the US market. We broke the story last month that Jili
will make an announcement in the next couple of years to start making cars in South Carolina. And if you
were watched the Super Bowl last night, maybe you caught this ad from Dream, the Chinese company that makes everything from robot vacuums to lawnmowers that also showed off its electric hypercar concept called Nebula. Dream says it spent ten
million bucks on the ad, and that car is featured throughout the thirty second spot. With the Trump administration's terriffs
threatening the survival of the Canadian auto industry. Canada is
actively pursuing car companies to build vehicles there. Last month,
that signed a non binding agreement with South Korea to bring Korean car manufacturing to Canada, and now Canada's industry minister tells Bloomberg that it's working to create a joint venture with a Chinese company to produce evs in Canada for global export. Canadian suppliers Magna, Linamar and Martin Rea
could participate in the joint venture since they already have operations in China. The minister also leaves the evs can
be cost competitive globally despite Canada's higher labor prices. Canada
is slowly warming up to Chinese automakers. Last month, it
reached a deal to slash tariffs on Chinese ev imports from one hundred percent down to just six percent.

Speaker 1: While Nissan is still committed to fully electric vehicles, the automaker is moving to plug in hybrids and extended range electrics in the short term because it's BEEV sales are softer than it expected. Nissan will launch a plug in
version of the Rogan the US this year with up to forty two miles of electric only range. In China,
it introduced an extended range version of its Nax eight three row suv with one hundred and fifteen miles of electric only range. And for Europe, Nissan is considering importing
a plug in version of the Frontier pickup that's built in China and was co developed with Dong Fung. And
speaking of rolling back EV plans, European battery maker ACC is shelving plans to open plants in Germany and Italy.
ACC is a joint venture between Stalantis, Mercedes and Total Energies, with Stillantis being the largest investor. The battery company has
established in twenty twenty and planned to have three plants in Germany, Italy and France, each with the capacity to produce eight gigawatt hours a year, but only the plant in France opened, which is currently making batteries for Stilantis.
Production for Mercedes should start in the middle of this year.
And in related news, as we reported last week, Stillantis sold its stake in Nextstar Energy to LG next Star Energy was a joint venture between the two companies to build evy batteries in Canada, and Stillantis must have really wanted to get out of that partnership, because Reuter's reports it sold its forty nine percent state two LG for just one hundred bucks. However, LG will continue to supply
Stalantis with batteries produced at that plant. Shall Me just
lowered the threshold to unlock its city hands free driving feature. Previously,
owners had to use the vehicle's other driver assistant systems for one thousand kilometers or about six hundred and twenty miles before they got access to city hands free driving.
The idea was to gradually let people get used to its technology, but shall We got so many complaints from owners that it took too long to unlock that it's lowering the threshold to three hundred kilometers or just over one hundred and eighty five miles. The change is part
of the company's most recent over the era date, so owners should be able to take advantage right away. A
piece of tech we find interesting just got a slightly better chance of making its way into a production model.
A couple of years ago, Hyundai mobis, a giant supplier partly owned by the Hundai Group, and the German optics company Zeiss formed a partnership to develop holographic windshield displays.
They hope to start production as early as next year, but now they've signed on a couple of new partners and hope to start assembling units at scale before twenty twenty nine. A company called Tessa will make the holographic films,
and glass supplier Saint Gobain will integrate those films into the windshield. The holographic displays are brighter, offer better resolution,
and are smaller than traditional head up displays, and with the ability to stretch across the entire windshield, we think there's a number of features people would find interesting, especially turn by turn navigation. But that brings us to the
end of today's show. Thanks for making autoline a part
