FSD is Tesla’s abbreviation for “Full Self Driving,” meaning its advanced driving-assist software. In this segment, people are questioning whether Tesla’s safety claims for FSD were calculated using assumptions that don’t match how cars would actually be used.
The researchers are saying Tesla’s safety numbers may not be trustworthy because they rely on assumptions that probably won’t happen in real life. They argue the analysis treated FSD as if it would be used by almost every vehicle on the road.
This is Tesla’s name for an advanced driving-assist feature that can do a lot of the driving, but it still expects the driver to watch and be ready to take over. The debate here is whether Tesla’s safety numbers were calculated in a way that matches real-world use.

The Freelander eight is an electric range-extended SUV concept from Freelander, a joint venture between Jaguar Land Rover and Chinese automaker Cherry. It combines a battery pack with a small turbo engine to extend range, and the segment gives specific battery and range figures.
This is an electric car setup where the battery does most of the work, but a small engine can kick in to help keep the car going. It’s meant to extend the total distance you can drive.
BAIC and Changan are two Chinese car companies teaming up. They want to work together on new tech and cars, and to make it easier to source parts and sell in other countries.
A strategic partnership is when two companies team up for a long-term plan. In cars, it often means sharing engineering work or parts so they can build and sell more efficiently.

France says it's preparing for high intensity combat by twenty thirty, and Renaul announced it's working with two military contractors to make drones in a vehicle it calls the four Troop.
It's a four x four hybrid that looks to us like a modified version of the Rafale, but it also showed a modified electric traffic van. Renault says it's a
mobile command center that can deploy land based in aerial drones. Meanwhile,
Daimler Truck established a new business unit called Daimler Truck Defense that will make military vehicles all the way from light duty to what it calls large tac logistics platforms.
It's investing several hundred million euros into the business unit and expects to hit a billion euros in revenue by twenty twenty eight. It's already got an order for fifteen
hundred trucks from the Canadian military and seven thousand trucks for the French Armed Forces. And Mercedes benz As showing
military versions of its G class and its commercial vans, the Sprinter and Veto. It says they can be used
as troop carriers, ambulances and equipment platforms that can also deploy drones. And sticking with Europe for a moment, but
moving back to the civilian world, Reuters reports that several independent safety researchers accused Tesla of submitting misleading data about the safety of FSD. When Tesla applied for approval of
supervised full self driving, it claimed the system was ten times safer than human drivers and could have saved thirty two thousand lives. The researchers say Tesla's data is misleading
because it assumed every vehicle on the road in the United States, including heavy duty trucks and motorcycles, would be using FSD to show those kinds of improvements. But we
think it's unlikely this report will derail Tesla. Five European
countries have already approved supervised full self driving in RDW, the agency that approved it in the Netherlands said it conducted and validated its own testing and did not rely on Tesla's data.

Speaker 1: The UAW has ended its strike against the former American Axle now called DOUC. Workers at the Michigan plant just
ratified a new contract including a thirty six percent increase in wages over four years, no healthcare premium increases, new paid holidays, more vacation days, and a two thousand dollars ratification bonus. The factory makes axles for General Motors, to
Lantis and others, and the automakers say the strike ultimately did not hurt production. The union went after the supplier
because workers at the plant cut their wages in half a decade ago. To help get the company through bankruptcy,
Honda is using technology from its electric motorcycles and scooters to help power construction and industrial equipment. It's launching a
new series of generators that use motor components that were originally developed for electric motorcycles, and its new battery boxes have been built to accommodate its swappable battery packs. Honda
says it will start supplying the new units this fall, first in Japan, but then rolling out to the US.
In Europe, BMW is gearing up to launch the first performance electric car off its new Class platform. It just
debuted the M concept new class, which is meant to be a preview of the new I three M that's supposed to go on sale about a year from now.
While it's not providing any specs yet, the EV is powered by four electric motors that can be controlled independently, along with the brakes at each wheel by software that will be unique to M vehicles. To enhance the look,
the facias and lighting are specific to the model, and the fenders are wider. There's also specific arrow elements like
the side mirrors that are meant to cut through the wind easier. And speaking of performance brands, the AMG division
of Mercedes Benz wants to increase sales to two hundred thousand units by twenty thirty. To help get there, it
plans to introduce twenty seven models over the next three years in different sizes, segments, and vehicle types. AMG will
also reduce comple flexity, going from ten engine variants down to four, but that does include a new six cylinder and V eight for the lineup. While that two hundred
thousand figure would represent a nearly forty percent increase in sales compared to last year, when it sold one hundred and forty five thousand units, the brand has already proved that it.

Speaker 1: In twenty fifteen, AMG sold just under seventy thousand vehicles. Freelander,
a joint venture between Jaguar land Rover and Chinese automaker Cherry, officially unveiled its first SUV, called the Freelander eight. It
features an electric range extended powertrain that includes a one and a half liter turbo engine producing one hundred and fifty four horse power, along with a sixty kilowa hour battery pack that has a pure electric range of two hundred and twenty one kilometers or one hundred and thirty seven miles. The model starts at forty four thousand, one
hundred bucks and it goes on sale in the second half of this year in China. Freelander plans to launch
six models over the next five years, and we'll sell vehicles in the Middle East and Europe in addition to China.
And you may remember a report from the start of the month that Indian automaker Tata will use the Freelander platform for a new premium brand called Avinya. And here's
something we'll likely see more of in China, BAIC and Changan announced they're forming a strategic partnership. They'll collaborate on
developing new technology and vehicles, strengthening supply chains, and cooperating in overseas markets. There's too many car companies with too
much capacity in China, so more automakers will make partnerships like this to help boost their competitiveness. And that's a
