I'm just ecstatic that two hours before everybody got here last week, I finally got carpet in
my office and I was able to get it back, and so now I'm doing the podcast from where I
was meant to be doing the podcast instead of before.
I mean, last time we were talking about it was flooding issues, so that's why everything
had to come apart.
We stripped the entire office.
Everything was out.
The bottom walls were all taken out, replaced, it was an absolute nightmare.
So now is it fixed?
You're getting all the bugs worked out of the garage?
Yeah, it was the windows.
The windows failed again.
So the windows failed.
Re-sealed and pre-tested and we had 60 mile an hour winds, and that pressure tested it
and we're good.
So then we put the office back together.
And the giant garage doors hold up.
Like they hold up to the weather, they hold up to the winds.
They were so big and so heavy it was a nightmare getting them installed because of the oversight.
We talked about that even a couple of years ago, but the idea of having the giant heavy
garage doors was to sustain those winds when they did come.
So how did it work?
Well, no, I mean, the idea of having the garage doors was all aesthetic and functionality
wise.
Once you think about it, having such a large garage door and trying to deal with 60 to 80
mile an hour winds from time to time, I'm greatly appreciative that I was the person
that R&D'd these because it was the first time they made this garage door.
But no, they fail.
Water comes through in between the joints.
I mean, it is what it, in between the panels, it is what it is.
The water doesn't fail on the windows, but the panels, it's almost impossible to keep
that type of rain out.
And since I didn't do the floor in the garage, it's all concrete anyway.
So the water to come in five feet, I don't care.
It doesn't matter because it dries up and it doesn't stain anything.
It's all good.
Right.
Yeah.
So it was meant to be, you know, it's a garage.
It was meant to be cleanable, right?
So you can get out there with your little Zamboni cleaner if you need to or, you know, just push
some of the water out, brush it out, broom it out, whatever.
So that's good.
It's tough to get those doors like that to really kind of seal without being like the
old school one piece door.
Like it would just come down as a big flap, you know, because there's slats in it and
every one of them has to kind of seal together and they're massive and they're heavy.
So it's, I can get it.
It's a little tough, but, but everything else is holding up.
I mean, you have to be realistic about it.
I mean, there's going to be fails, but as long as they're not catastrophic, it's easy to do.
So when you guys put the office back together, I mean, we're here.
We're even looking at it.
So those are on YouTube kind of looking behind you.
Everything's like, you know, it's it's clean.
It's organized.
The posters on the wall, the helmets on the wall, all the good, you know, the good memorabilia
stuff is a little bit was some of it was kind of still stacked up.
So moved out of the way when the water was coming in.
So yeah, it looks great.
Looks great.
Thanks, man.
I mean, you know, I like to, I like to do a little feng shui stuff as often as humanly
possible that and I'm obsessively, I'm obsessively clean.
So we had this big event this week at the big event this weekend.
So I had to get the office ready for that had probably 70 people in the garage.
I've never had more than five at once.
And, you know, we had grills all outside.
They were cooking, using the inside for a kitchen.
I mean, it was absolutely lobotomizing me.
It was driving me absolutely crazy.
So I'll be honest with you.
Yeah, they came in Thursday and there were 10 guys here Thursday, Friday, Saturday,
Sunday morning, the day of the event.
I was so stressed out that to my buddy Clint came over, right?
Clint, Voight, I don't know why he keeps doing that.
Anyway, my buddy Clint Voight came over and he looked at me and he goes, Dude,
you're stressed, bro.
We need to get out of here.
And we did.
It was at 8 45 in the morning.
Kids do not do as I say and do as I say, not as I do.
We grabbed a shot of Crown Royal Reserve at 8 45 in the morning.
Took a nice shot real quick.
Got.
Look at that.
Put this on.
Put this on.
Yeah. And then we went down to the range.
Explain what that is for the podcast listeners.
They're not watching.
Nothing's massive.
We went down to the range to shoot my brand new Desert Eagles that I had
customized and seracoded to match the bar that I have upstairs.
Yeah. Right.
So we went down to the range and I unloaded these for the first time.
And what an instant stress relief.
It was unbelievable.
It was also unbelievable to greet the sheriff
on my property with these on my shoulder,
along with the chief of police and everyone else who was at the event.
But they were coming out for your event.
They weren't coming out because you were making a racket.
It was an interesting day.
How does.
Oh, no. Oh, no.
We had firetruck was out here.
All these cars.
I mean, it was the event was for them was for all the first responders.
And I kind of set the tone.
I was wearing flip flops, a tank top and my 50 calibers.
So I can honestly say that I've never seen anybody do that before
because I've never seen anybody holster two Desert Eagles.
Um, but you should have seen the look on their face.
It's all.
So the event you you hosted was, like you said, for a group of first responders.
And I maybe a few have visited the garage over over the last couple of years,
but nothing had liked to this scale.
Having this event and everyone there, but it was like some kind of cookoff
or something or a competition or because there was a lot of.
Cooking, no, it kind of turns out to be a football competition,
but it was sponsored by Weber.
And we did an event to thank the first responders
who showed up to the South Texas floods, you know, the Mystic Camp
floods that, you know, went through here a couple of years or a year ago.
And it was horrible.
And a lot of these guys haven't gotten the pat on the back that they deserve.
And I wanted it to be almost like an invisible thank you, you know,
to where there aren't cameras out here.
There's nothing like that.
They don't feel pressed.
They don't feel stressed.
They can come out and have a beer, hang out, you know, have some unbelievable barbecue.
We had a guy, Al Fragoni, who lives here at Bernie.
Actually, it was right down the road, who's a world renowned open fire
chef and cotton gin smokers
came out and gave me this killer smoker.
And then, like I said, man,
we installed the bar, right?
And they were supposed to install it without me knowing it.
But quite obviously, that was never going to happen
because I have to move everything around in the garage.
So let's just say that there'll be a video coming out.
Of us taking delivery of that bar and.
In conjunction with the bed pack
two posts,
we use the scissor lift
to get the 12 foot bar that weighs probably 700 pounds
up to my second level.
And OK, let's just say it was sketchy to save the week.
Yeah, it was terrifying.
I had to move four glist ten feet of it.
So it was more of an error.
Yeah, it was it was terrifying.
But end of the day, we got it installed.
It looks beautiful.
I'll be putting pictures out here in a while about it.
But I mean, we just it was a great event.
It truly was.
And I'm appreciative of everybody who was involved.
And here here it is.
Here's the bar.
Yeah, OK.
Yeah, it's a little tough to see.
Oh, there you go.
Yeah, I can kind of see it.
OK, imagine lifting that up
with the scissor lift to the second floor of my garage.
But don't you have a terrifying don't you have a forklift?
No. Oh, I did.
I'm with abuse.
Yeah, I thought so.
I know you had the scissor lift, right?
Because that's what you were installing all the air tubes
for the compressor system with.
And then and then you got stuck up there and they had, you know,
you had to climb down and fix it.
Yeah, yeah, it was a lot of fun.
I'm learning how to do it real well, though.
Yeah, let's just say, remember the movie Blazing Saddles?
Yeah.
Remember the sheriff?
Remember the remember the old man who said the sheriff is coming,
you know, with the white beard and he ran around like this
and talk like this.
Well, he basically was the guy that that came in here
and put this thing upstairs for him.
And nice man.
Kudos to him, but it was sketchy.
Yeah.
Well, it sounded like it was a great event
and everybody had a good good time and ate a lot of good food.
Yeah, the Webber Webber gave grills to everybody.
Jason Kidd gave me a box of t-shirts.
We passed those out.
Patriot tactical, you know, gave backpacks and a special edition
Goldberg knife that we came out with.
And it was, you know, I'll be honest with you because I'm sure
video is going to come out soon.
Right at the beginning when I addressed everybody, I broke it.
I broke down.
Completely broke.
I couldn't spit a word out.
It was probably one of the most embarrassing times I've ever had,
but it was true emotion.
And I was just completely overcome by the turnout
and the fact that my friends would be there to help.
And it was deep, man.
It was freaking deep.
It was it was really cool.
I got a lot of I got a lot of great feedback in that, you know,
they were very appreciative that we took the time to say thank you.
And that's that's all it was.
Yeah, well, that's it's good.
I'm glad you were able to do that.
And in the companies that came in and helped you out like Webber
and Patriot Tactical and stuff, that's fantastic.
I'm so glad everybody stepped up and put on this great event.
H, H, E, B, H, E, B helped us out.
Bucky's helped us out.
Cotton Gin Smokers helped us out.
I mean, it was really overwhelming.
It truly was to see the support.
And and, you know, just in a time of need,
these guys, these guys and girls really needed it.
And, you know, big shout out to the Sisterdale Fire Department.
They were all here.
They're the ones that brought the truck and big shout out to Bill Bird,
Martin Peake, you know, Bergheim, Bill Bird, a local friend of mine
that owns Bird Motors, owns Mark Motors.
He donated all the beef and 40 ribeyes, five briskets.
I mean, it was unbelievable.
It was just truly all inspiring, seeing the community coming out to say thank you.
Yeah. That's awesome.
OK, let's let's do this.
Let's take a quick break and maybe we'll talk about what's going on in the garage.
All right. Hold on. We'll be right back.

OK, we're back.
So I know you've been prepping for this event and getting that all in order.
But last time we were chatting, you were doing some work on Gage's Bronco Raptor.
The exhaust was on there.
You went through the Magnaflow exhaust.
You talked a little bit about the valve issue that you guys got resolved,
but you were getting ready to start to tackle the suspension, the control arm.
So it's awesome, like billet machined camberg arms and stuff.
How did you get it done?
Well, yeah, I I knew that once these some bitches feet hit the ground here
in Texas, I wasn't going to be able to touch the car.
So Wednesday night, literally,
Clint and I took it upon ourselves to take those tires off,
take the upper control arms out, replace them with those camberg ones.
It was I mean, it was plug and play.
It was really easy, no issues whatsoever.
Obviously, with these big hands, it was kind of hard getting there.
But I'll have a video coming out.
But we we got that accomplished and they look good, man.
Gage is going to love them.
Functionality wise, I can't wait to see what they do.
Obviously, I got to go get it aligned before I do anything.
But wheels and tires are next.
Harry sent the tires from Nitto.
Got thirty sevens eight or 3013 point five seventeens.
Ridge grappler is going on it.
And I think Mr.
Wade, this is going to hook us up with one of his friends with some wheels.
And then it's on a flatbed headed to Boulder, Colorado.
Yeah, that's awesome.
That's going to be exciting.
He's got the other Bronco still, and then that's going to be sold.
Or what's he driving now?
He's there.
They're they're dropping they're dropping him and they're dropping his new one
and then picking up his old one and bringing it back.
Oh, bring it back. Yeah, because that was part of the deal.
We traded.
Yeah, you traded it.
OK.
Yeah.
Have you have you been doing anything else in the garage?
You taking the the Cobra out?
I mean, you had the event.
You must have shown off a few cars to fire it up.
Fire up anything for the event besides fire it up.
Well, no, I didn't.
I didn't.
I was running around like a chicken with his head cut off.
But to replace the fact that I didn't do that,
Manny brought his Cobra over and he actually took people for rides in.
And when he did, he came back and would explain to all of them
that it has that as much fun as they had realized that it only had half
the amount of horsepower that mine did.
So they went for a team ride.
Yeah, that's good.
I'm glad he showed up and did some ride along.
He's got some he's got some cool stuff to his Cobra's that he'd been building.
And I just saw him post something up there on one of his Cobra's
or take took it out for a ride.
Maybe it was from that event.
He didn't talk about like who was in the car with the blue one.
That was that it was the blue and white stripes
with the rope with the single roll bar across the back.
And that was. Yeah.
So I think he shot like out the front like from the driver's seat out the front window.
But yeah, yeah, I think it was the blue blue one.
Yeah, looks cool.
I just wanted to.
We've got to.
I'm going to give a little shout out to our friends over at NHRA.
If you guys are watching it this weekend, you know, a few months ago, we had.
Hell, yeah.
Yeah, we had Ron Kapps and Maddie Gordon on the show.
And Maddie was, you know, telling the story with Ron about how.
You know, she he signed off on her drag racing license when she was younger.
And by the way, still super young, but picked her to be the, you know,
the co-driver of her top fuel team.
She's she's so much fun and so ecstatic.
And 10 runs, 10 races into this.
She she wins top fuel on her 10th time out.
So she won over the weekend.
She's taken home a Wally, her first top fuel Wally.
I imagine there's going to be a lot more in this young lady's career.
And then to make the the whole weekend even better, she wins in top fuel.
Her boss and teammate, Ron Kapps, he wins his 80th, I believe his 80th
funny car Wally and.
And Maddie Gordon's dad, who still races, he won in his class as well.
So just an outstanding weekend for for the whole team with Napa and Carlisle
Tools and just amazing.
And I you can see it in Ron Kapps.
You can see it. I mean, obviously, Maddie was ecstatic and she just couldn't.
She was talking a mile a minute and just, by the way, and doing it right.
She's hitting it.
She's like, Ron Kapps, Napa, Carlisle Tools, Mom, Dad, you know,
everybody like she was hitting it all and she was doing a great job.
But you could see the emotion and Ron, you know, when he explained it to us,
this was not your typical deal.
He approached Maddie and said, I want you to drive for me.
I want you to go to top fuel.
We're going to put a team together.
I don't have a sponsor yet.
I don't have the team yet, but I want to make you, you know,
I want to make you my my co-driver in this, which is risky and difficult to do.
They were able to put together the team and get the sponsorship.
And I'll tell you, that's money well spent.
If you're Napa and Carlisle Tools.
I mean, it's not like Katz doesn't know.
It's not like Katz doesn't know the business and it's not like Katz doesn't know town.
Right. You know, so it's not like you're taking somebody to drive for us.
You know, I don't know, I have to put a downer on this kind of subject
because I know Ron Kapps has his has his operation over at DSR.
And I just got to let people know that if you're going to do
if you're going to do any kind of business with DSR.
Watch your ass.
OK, I won't I won't go into the full details.
Although I can say that remember the motor that was going in my 70
challenge or my 70 Corvette. Yeah.
They're not delivering.
Yeah. Well, maybe at some point, you can shed a little light on that story.
But yeah, you hinted to that last time you were on the show
and saying you were going to, you know, use. Yeah, I gave I did an episode
of us building the motor that was going in my my car for car wreckables at DSR.
And the payment was the motor and it's funny, but we shot the episode
and now they're not giving us the motor.
So yeah, OK, I don't elaborate on it.
Let's just say you any business with Chad, you better watch your ass.
And I don't like talking shit about people, but he messed with the wrong
Goldberg on this one.
I'll leave it at that. Yeah, OK.
Well, I'm sorry to hear that.
That's kind of a bummer.
But, you know, look, you've got it's all good to me because the DSR one
seven because the the Demon one 70 motor is going in there.
Yeah. And you, you know, you've got such a great relationship with Dodge
and all the team over there.
So I'm sure they were happy to help out, not to mention the dealer in Arizona,
which the commercials are funny, by the way, that shot.
Those those are good.
We're going to do more.
Yeah, you should do more. It should be fine.
I thought the funniest part when I was the funniest part of it,
I thought was when I was at the front desk with that older lady
because she had no idea what I was doing.
She didn't know we were filming a commercial.
She had no clue.
She just thought that I was some big love, walked up to the front desk
and grabbed the microphone.
So it played out really well, man.
She was a sweetheart, man.
Yeah, that's awesome.
But anyway.
OK, so I think we're going to I think we're going to wrap things up.
I know you and I both have to jump for another thing.
So we're going to wrap things up here.
But yeah, let's we're going to do it again soon.
So yeah, until next time, keep the air in the spare
and the bag in the wheel.
About this episode
Bill Goldberg shares the chaotic but rewarding experience of hosting a massive appreciation BBQ for South Texas first responders at his newly repaired garage. Before welcoming seventy guests, Goldberg blew off some steam at the gun range with his newly customized Desert Eagle pistols. He also recounts the terrifyingly sketchy process of using a scissor lift to install a massive 700-pound bar on his garage's second floor. Backed by major sponsors like Weber, the emotional event brought the community together to honor local heroes.
