LIVE
All right, welcome back to the martini works podcast I'm here with Dustin and gels and we are in 2026 boys
We sure are and it's a good old jolly time and right away
I just want to get into some of the best cheap car mods that you guys have got into you know what i'm saying because
The best cheap yeah, you can't always just
Roll in dropping five grand on parts and being all happy sometimes you gotta work with a little bit of a budget
Small things or maybe
Big things that you got on marketplace or whatever that make you happy and still enjoy your car
Maybe we can inspire some people listening to you know
They haven't done something in their car for a bit get out and do that thing sure you know i'm saying yeah
I'll start off. Um, this one's gonna be a little lame
But it
It really does just make you enjoy the car more and that I would say go through and do all of your maintenance
That's supposed to be 100 percent it sounds like and I get it and it doesn't even sound fun
No, it's not lame
It's fun the feeling you get when it's all done and you're like I did I got everything done
That's all I had to do all year. I know
We were hadn't getting ready to head back north for christmas
And I literally messaged dakota because like I was uh had to do an oil change on the bmw
And I was like I should really do this before we drive like eight hours like they're in back
I'm like, yeah, I'll just get it done and wake up early like christmas to even do it and uh, I did it
And not too long ago. I had johnny do like a full like interior exterior detail on it
Even though the exterior was like fucked anyway again after winter, but the interior felt like really nice
Oil change was done got a lot of the stuff reset went through the car wash filled it with a full tank of gas
I was like brand new man feels so good
And then I got back and I have 50 more lights on the dash and now I want to fucking ride
It's well 2026 now you gotta do all your maintenance again
Yeah, you gotta do it all over again new year in it. I said I said cheap and maintenance can also be not cheap at the same time
So I'm talking more general maintenance. Hold up. Hold up. What's what's an ounce of prevention worth?
You know the old the old adage is
No, no, the old adage is an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, right?
So it's like I was a little bit off is maintenance kind of spendy. Yes, right oil and stuff
Can be super cheap for sure, especially if you're doing trans and rear end and all that stuff, right?
Um, but
What is a transmission failure cost you a lot a whole lot more than 200 dollars where the trans fluid exactly
So, you know, I get it. It's not the not the cheapest but also I gotta do I gotta do brakes really bad
Even something as small as like going and getting a nice set of wipers after you've been using the same shit wipers for
It can make a difference. It makes me happy
It's like I feel like even when you're you're getting the big mods
You know when you like have that lurking in the back of your mind, you know that like oh, I have all this mean
I'm supposed to do my old chain. It's supposed to be cool and flush. I haven't done it yet
It's just nice when your car is in tip-top gel. Let's crash you for I don't know
The way you said shit wipers
God damn it. I don't get it. Oh
Oh, never mind. I don't get it. Anyway, never mind
Who's next?
Just budget car mods. Yeah, um, I'd say like when we uh, we got the type R. Yeah, um
I really really did like the um, the whole like active
Damping control thing with like the different modes and stuff like that. Um, especially in that car because it's like the seats are nice
They're not like touring seats. Like they're they're all there's no electric part of those seats
Like it is it is meant for more performance of which is totally fine. Um, but it's like
The comfort of that car like driving long distances
um
Can drastically be improved if you have it in like that comfort mode or like being able to switch through those different modes
Um, and we wanted to lower the car and coilovers
Pretty much get rid of that like functionality. I'm like, well, we're gonna be driving this thing that we drove with the like
Tennessee and stuff like that and um
Maggie's gonna be driving it. I'm like, let's just let's just do lowering springs
And it was like $300 for a set of lowering springs versus like $1800 for like a coilover set now
Love it. Absolutely. Love it. It was a bit of a pain in the ass to like get in because you kind of like
Disassemble a little bit more for lowering springs. You got to play the old risk your fingers
Like just waiting for it to explode. Um, but it's a hundred percent worth it and
It honestly, I think was like the best thing we did for that car outside of like throwing like the new wheels and stuff on it
But I mean
I would much rather do that and I've done that in the past too
Is like even when like I first started getting into cars like lowering springs were a much more viable option
For getting a lower ride height and I put some like i-box springs in my eclipse back in the day
And I loved them. I think it did the job what I wanted to do
I just wanted a lower ride height and it didn't cost a freaking fortune
So it's like you got to maintain the like active damping and stuff right without any like cancelers or any of that
Yes, I kind of killed the two birds with one stone on that one. Yeah pretty sick
I was actually I took one of mine
I was gonna have two and one of them was gonna be lowering springs because I think that that is like
Get a touch of low
Still retain that that you know kind of factory damper side of things. I think I really like there's this whole thing
It's like well, what if I want to like go lower if I want to do all this stuff
It's like I'm gonna be honest
I've thrown coilovers in cars and after I set that right. I I don't fucking touch it. Yeah, I haven't touched my
Unless you make like a big change
Exactly, but it's like for the most part. I set it and forget it
And I run typically except for like the the 240 but like on the BMW
It's like I run a pretty conservative like yeah rock like it's a daily driver. So I don't need a coil over on it
Yeah, but and I think even if you did right so I agree
I think newer car or something that's got good shocks and yet right you reuse your dampers through a low
Lowering spring that's fine
Um, you know, if you've got a little bit older car or something
You can still do springs right especially with with the price of coilovers these days
You know pick yourself up a set of kony yellows which we have no I believe yeah, which are available on martiniworks.com
And are still adjustable, correct? Like you still get the adjustable spring height. Is it the yellows or the other one?
It's the other ones. Okay. I know kony has some options. Forgive me. I'm the truck guy. So, you know, it's not really
What was your other one though Dustin?
Lighting oh, okay. So
One of the best things I ever did I bought my mark 7 gti. I love that car still missed that car should have never sold it
You can berate me in the comments down below
But that was a great car, but it was a stock. It was an s
Trim package car. So stock halogen bulbs
They did okay. Um, but one of the best things I ever did is
Uh, you know new headlights are pretty expensive. Um, I hit marketplace. I bought my used set for I think 500 bucks
They're normally 1200 bucks brand new. It's a good deal. Yeah, I'm in the car
You know, and even if you don't do new new assemblies
I think if you drive your car anytime at night a good set of headlight bulbs is worth every dollar that you're gonna invest there
Sure, absolutely. I have another one. This one's dummy cheap and also kind of silly, but
It's something I enjoy every single time I turn on my vehicle. What is it? I bought a wireless dongle for my
Oh, so when I bought my forerunner, I thought it had wireless
That's why it was car. No because I looked it up in the ai overview on google said yes
The 2021 trd pro does have wireless carpet. No, it doesn't you have to plug it in easy to me in my iphone
I don't know if it has like lint in it or what but the the usbc port if I like
Sneeze it disconnects
It's so annoying
So it's like I don't want to be plugging it in because like I have to have it sitting just right for it to connect
And then it disconnects when I hit a bump
So I was like screw. I'm gonna look it up. It's this little amazon
I don't know what brand it is, but it was like 40 bucks and uh, you plug it in
Goes into the usb port never have thought about it again. I just always have a wireless
Yeah, and the super spoiled me because that had wireless
So it's like I couldn't go back. I couldn't go back. Um, and it's been awesome
I worked really well every once in a blue moon. I got to like unplug it plug it back in and
Work but uh, that's been a game changer. I really enjoy it. I got one for you. Okay. Good floor mats
Honestly, yes, like a good 3d scans, you know injection molded floor mats something plastic
Something that's going to keep the snow out of the carpet and stuff like worth every dollar
They're like 200 bucks 250 bucks worth every dollar you're going to pay for those on the other end of that
I got some fancy ones for the super. They were checkered pattern and they weren't like weather tech. They were sick
I loved it. I can't do it. I can't do it. I remember didn't uh, hks drop like some like crazy ones
Yeah, I wonder like Alex, but they anything hks drops is just I wanted those so bad. Yeah, they uh, they made them
Those are not budget friendly. Those are not not at all. We had a bunch of hks stuff on the car and I would have
Oh, that's so sick. Yeah 100 percent
Well, do you guys have any mods you're looking at again?
Soon looking at getting so no, I have a storage unit full mods. I need to install. Well, what are you doing?
This is the time we're in hibernation mode. This is when we install. There's a problem. There's a problem
I'm gone the entire month of january. It seems bring them with
Loaded all in this shipping container ship it to japan unloaded drive the truck that truck would go crazy
They would lose their minds. I don't think it would fit in the road. No, definitely not not on 14 wides
That would be so it's such a crazy site
We're doing it someday. We're going to we'll go to when we race at month
Yeah
That'd be sick. Holy shit. That sounds like it sometimes. That'd be so sick
Yeah, I know we keep uh talking at this time uh when the podcast goes up
We'll be you know, we've been to japan at that point
But we're recording it right before trying to get ahead so that way when we're in japan
We can just explore and go crazy and we're not trying to and you guys still have a podcast to enjoy your Friday
Yeah, exactly. But like i'm so hyped and now that we're leaving a couple days here. I
Can't help but just be excited for what we're about to see. Yeah
I'm so excited to see the culture and the cars and how different and i'm hoping to get inspired a bit too
Yeah, me too. Yeah, I think that'd be huge. I'd like to pick something up for
The 240 when i'm there something little sick something like like a shift
Not even the car has like a cool shift knob on it, but like right i want to get something
That'd be really bring back and just having the car and you can say every time i drive it be like that
I got that in fucking japan for this you overnight overnighted parts from japan
Overweeked parts no no no because you fly back overnight
You can say that you have overnighted parts from japan same day parts from japan and this guy's so good because we go back and
We're time traveling
And it's yesterday. Yeah, well, yeah, yeah because today is tomorrow there
It gets me all messed up
I'm just gonna have to trust my phone. I don't know how that works with like flights. What's up skis guy come here
Come on horgan. Come on. Come here puppy. For those of you listening. There's a dog. Come here
There he is
Good boy. He's a good boy. That's me. I'm a little bit nervous, but he's a good boy
But I think that leads us to the first sponsor martin works podcast
corgan
Corgan sponsor. Oh, sorry continental
Double star with c yeah continental
Makes a bunch of great fantastic tires if you guys have never ran a set make 2026 the year you do
I guarantee
You'll love them everyone that i've talked to that i've convinced to get us that they just go with that now
I think of my buddy cody on his jeta sport wagon. He got a set of continental dws. So sixes. Yeah on his
Conig wheels and he loves them. Yeah, absolutely. He has no complaints
That's just one example on both sets of conigs. Oh, yeah, two sets of conies. He put both on there. Yep 100%
It's a fantastic all season otherwise coming into spring summer
Or you guys that just have fantastic weather all year round the extreme contact sport
Oh two is a fantastic performance oriented tire and it comes a bunch of different sizes
So head on over martin works filtered by continental see what uh tire fits best if you need help just let us know
And we'll be right back
All right boys
There's good cars. There's bad cars. There's in between cars
But I think there's cars we've gone into maybe uh, not too excited about and we drove them and we're like holy
Holy
Shit, I love this holy guacamole. What are some vehicles you've gotten to experience? I have just downright surprised you
In a positive way or a negative way. I guess it could be either
I think I in my head. I was looking a little more positive, but if there's a negative one
I kind of want to hear the shit on one for a hot take. Okay, uh
The lamborghini hurricane. Oh, whoa not where I was expecting that one to go terrible to drive terrible to get in and out
It is terrible to get in and out of it's a big lad
It is a hurricane. I thought it was like one of the goaded like lambos. I think it drives like shit to be fair
I think gel's got the chance to drive one. So I'd like to hear I did like the ultimate experience thing
So it was like three laps on half of road america with one. Mm-hmm. I thought it was pretty
Okay, yeah, so let me let me practice if I say that's not the street. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, I didn't track it
I treated it um and and let me provide some more clarity here
I think what makes me have that opinion is I also got the chance to drive
Gen 2 r8 v10 plus. Mm-hmm
Kind of like a hurricane. You did the same car right just different
You know same engine drivetrain chassis all that just different kind of interior bits and bobs and styling
And like I've always said the the r8 drives phenomenal
It's such a good car if I was like a bank exec I would drive an r8 all day every day
There is something about that car that just feels more
Street-able. They're very user-intuitive, right? It's very comfortable. The interior is like double stitched and and and really nice
That the buttons are very tactical and they feel you're like tactile and they feel good and and everything
You get in the fucking in that hurricane and everything is sharp and angular and nothing makes any sense
And it kind of looks like a fighter jet. You can't see a damn thing out of it. Like it's fascic
It's cool. It's super cool. And I'm not not downplaying the cool factor of those cars. They're rad
They're not very fun to drive. I have blast driving it, but again completely give me a time and place
Yeah, I'm sure on a track. They're a blast, right? They're sporty. They're quick as hell
They make the right noises they downshift and pop and bang and burble all the time and they're rad from that that
Angle they're just not I wouldn't want to drive it every day. That's for sure. I
Didn't ride in a hurricane, but I've ridden in a Lamborghini. It was cool
But like dude so hard especially as a bigger dude a hard to get into and then I was talking to the owner and I'm like
So like it's the best way to get out of this because like I don't like I'm looking at the door here
And it's not making sense. Yeah, it was very like six feet long and I was quick as you can make sure no one sees
Holy shit. All right, and that that was it. It's like a moment to snap a picture open the doors roll out legit
Like you're fucking all you kind of like step way over and like
That's the other thing you don't want to be like ding and stuff
Put on like it's a nice car. I want to be sure
All right, Josie got one. Um, yeah the
Newer m240 is I thought were really really good. Good one
We got the chance to do some like basically like an autocross competition
At the bmw performance driving school with those
Thanks to continental for sending us out there
And uh, we were doing a ton of red stuff like all week like with like the m cars and everything like that m3s m4s g80s g82s
um
And we did got to do something autocross stuff and there was honestly like the mini coopers were fun
But then there was like one section was like, all right. It's like a competition. You're gonna be running m240 eyes
And we're like, oh, okay, you know, it's like, oh, we've been running m3s and m4s all day. We'll see. Yeah, right honestly
I I had a those cars it really impressed me one
I love the interior out of them the color choices that they came in I got the I drive the purple one
It was really it was like dark purple like thunderstruck metallic or something. I can't remember. It's it's an awesome color
And uh, so it's got the b58 in it and they're automatic
But we could use like the paddle shifters and stuff and it's like the transmission shifter like super quick
It was basically like just another form of the supra it felt like but in a different like body
and
I thought it was really good like I got out of that and I was like
Damn, I kind of want one of these fucking cars. That was pretty sweet
The interior was really nice like had like the really cool like the the red and blue and like uh stitching and stuff in there
Um, I thought that car was really good. Oh, yeah. Yeah, I absolutely loved them. I'm just checking. Is it the b58 that's in them?
Yep. Oh, at least the ones that we did the weed drove had the b58 in it
Because I checked I was like, what is in this and I was like, oh, well that makes sense. Yep
Yep, uh, that was a phenomenal car and I got to drive them too. We did the same event and uh
Truly surprised by that vehicle like it made me want one after and I it was never on my radar
I never wanted that vehicle at all
It is it's I think it's something to say about the car too because it's like, oh, well
It's just because the b58's a good engine and it's like
But we drove the z4 and that was a completely different experience and I didn't really like it that much
No, I agree and it didn't feel like a super either
Yeah, because we got to almost drive them back to back and the z4 felt surprisingly different. Yeah
Yeah, so it's it's more than that and then the m240 i kind of felt like its own thing too
A little more nimble smaller just like more compact and agile. I don't know
Yeah, it's like you set set more like in the middle instead of like yeah like further back
Yeah, we've ripped on those cars. It was fun. It was awesome. I have one that's that's earth shattering groundbreaking. Oh, lay it on us
This still feels like a fever dream and like it wasn't real, but I'm gonna go with the Subaru sti
What are you talking about?
I got the chance feeling all right to drive bends from gears and gasoline in the virginia mountains. What year?
Like what body stuff? It was like a va. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, it's like a newer one. Yeah newer, but not newest
And disclaimer here major disclaimer. He had a lot of work put into that thing a lot of money
A lot
But I kind of forgot that while I was driving and it felt amazing
It felt perfect and like we were in the mountains and he's like, you know, get on
You know send it a little bit so shout out ben for that first of all like just first time I met him
He's like, yeah, go rip my eye with me and send it in the mountains and it was so sick and I
Loved it like perfect car made all the right noises. It felt so planted with the all-wheel drive
And it was like the perfect cruising car
But then it's like every time I came to a stop sign. It's like, oh, yeah, there's like over
15 20 grand put into this more than that. It was more than a hundred grand
I think he kind of
He kind of even said that too. He's like we like parked at one of the overlooks and we're like, damn, dude
This is a it's a really good kind of change of my outlook and he's like
Yeah, but
but
The butt's big on that. Yeah, he's like, I I'll say it truly surprising because I went in
Obviously excited, but it's just like ah super or whatever
But like when you get behind the wheel of a car like that and it's making that power and there's a good car
It was one handled so good and it felt phenomenal
You have any more I have a I have one about it. I'm personally biased on it. Obviously
Uh, I did not want to like this car
When I bought this car. I did not buy this car for me. I didn't want to enjoy driving it
I didn't think that anyone else was going to enjoy that I had it and then I bought it and apparently everyone loves it
And it's an incredible driving experience
And r53 mini cooper
Yeah, the thing is though and it's surprising how many big dudes you can fit we fit four of us in that fucking thing
That was fairly comfortable. We had over 800 pounds of man meat in the back of that thing. You know what I'm saying?
It was dumped decent amount of headroom. Yeah, that was the biggest surprise honestly
Yeah for as little as that car is it is surprisingly comfortable interior wise
You know, it definitely is not like it's not super nice nice inside like the plastics are kind of cheap and you know
The fabrics are maybe a little lower quality and so like dude, I paid $3,200 for that car, right?
I can't be mad. It's such a steel
It makes the right noises like even this morning. I cold started with six degrees
I cold started it and you start the car and right after it fires off you hear the supercharger just
It's so sick
I will say I've never been able to fit more than three people in my frs when I had it and that wasn't boosted
Your mini cooper can fit four of us and it's boosted. So
Yeah, it's fun. It's a properly good car and like that one's optioned with heated heated seats
It's got the sunroof the heated seats are so hot
They'll literally make you turn them off because they will cook your ass cheeks like a steak. Dude. There's a good here
It's british racing green. It is brg. Yep. It's such a good color. Yeah, it's a it's a perfect
I'm really excited. I want to throw that thing on a set of like ecso twos next year
Yeah, because it also takes like 16 inch wheels right there tiny and that's nice when you buy wheels and tires
Yeah, it's not too bad. Yeah
I'm hoping to throw it on like ecso twos because I know a good sticky tire
You'll be like that car's already a ton of fun in roundabouts and that's within all season
That'd probably be an incredible car for autocrat. Yeah 100 small rigid nimble, you know nice low end torque
It's a blast. I love that car. Yeah
Yeah, another one for me kind of similar experience to the m2 40i because we got to experience at that event but
The new nsx. Yeah. Oh, okay. Tell me about that really good one. Um, I
Never understood the hype about like the hybrid technology in cars like that and like the torque vectoring and stuff
until
I actually got to experience it. Yeah, that shit was crazy
That made you feel like a really really good driver
Like you actually had it on like because we were going through
It was like we were swapping seats essentially and we were lead following on this on this course
and
It was it was a pretty I would say it was pretty technical course
I had like hills and inclines and like kind of like some banks to it and stuff like that
And there were some cars like the challenger, uh, that was like kind of a struggle to keep up with the group
The super did you know as expected, but then it was like the nsx. It was like, man, it was like, come on guys
What are we doing? I like we got we got plenty more. We can we can pick this up a little bit
Like it gave you a ton of confidence with that especially like in the corners and stuff
Um, I know that car kind of got like shit on when it came out because it was one super expensive and hear me
Say that it is an expensive car. Um, but two
It was just like, oh, well, it's a hybrid. They added electric motors and shit in and I didn't need to have that
all this sort of stuff and
Do you talk to anyone that has gotten one and they're they're all about it and I understand why I get the hype now
I just want to know if you can bump fire at the same way like the Cadillac
Uh, gtp teams do you ever heard that? Oh, yeah, they start with the electric. Yeah
It is more of just like they kick in it's like an active system. Yeah, sure sure sure super cool
I'd say one for me was
I knew it would be good, but I didn't know it'd be perfect
And that's the the m4 comps the new m4 competition. Oh dude anything m m branded cars every time I drive
They're so good. It is just
like
The best like that that's like a realistic dream car for me
Realistic ones we get some used ones with some miles up there. Um, I would love to shoot for one day because
We got to drive that around la
And daily drive it and then we got to take it on the track and it did both perfect
It was the perfect daily driver and it was the perfect fucking unleashed animal of chaos. Yeah, we did
It was we got to experience like the full realm
Yeah, that car because we did it in the city and then we also drove it like far
All the way out to palm springs. Oh cool. So it was like a full blown trip with it
And it was like the perfect vehicle. It's so sick the interior is so dope
The car looks mean and aggressive and then when it gets on the track
I remember because we were driving a bunch of different makes a miles back to back to back to back
Every time I got back in the m3 or the m4 you're like, I felt at home again. Oh, yeah, this is right
Like and I felt so much more confident and like I would just huck it into turns
And like we're doing autocrosses with them and like trying to get the fastest time and it was like
I'm sending this like what do they make five six hundred horsepower?
And I'm just full blown sending it as hard as I can because I had the confidence that the car is gonna
Protect me essentially. Um, they are just
Animals they are so damned dope and I love them. I love the styling of them really came around to them
So again, like obviously I knew going into like this is a good car
I just wasn't expecting and it surprised me. Yeah, it was like I think my dream when we when we when we picked him up on that
trip, uh, I think dakota
I just kind of sat in it for probably like 30 minutes just
Going over everything. We're just looking at it. This is crazy and like, well, what is that?
You know, I was like, yeah, it has so many like settings and stuff that you can go into and change and urie
Actually, yeah, he knows how to do all that like the back of his hands
You would give us some tips every now and then and it was really dope. Yeah. Yeah the uh, the gt350 is like that too
I got a chance to drive one of those. I didn't track it but like
That's a that's a stout car. I forget what they make horsepower, but it's like 600. I think the gt350
Um, so rowdy is a is a good car. I remember we got to we were doing a video
Uh, we had the gt350 are
Yep, and then we had that zeal one
Camaro. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yep. I kind of fucked with the camaro more really
So I'm the opposite and I was I was surprised by that
I liked the gt350 way more than I like that zeal one
I think the what I liked is is the gt350
To me was a a properly balanced
Performance car. So like you could drive that thing. I was super blessed. Kirk let me borrow his car for like a week
Because the agreement was I had to peel the stickers off without rally
But I could drive it for a week and I was like a fair deal
I do that too if I had to
Clear your fucking decal off of one more car. My decal is fine. It is now it didn't used to be used to be
So we do the road rally
And part of the road rally is we get essentially like graphics kits put on the cars
Which is a bunch of like individual like decals like the sponsors and stuff like that
Dustin's decal was about five million little individuals as bad as maths
Don't don't even judge the years was worse. I'll give you American that went on each side of the vehicle
And it took probably two hours to take each one off. It was miserable. Actually, that's why I changed it. I was like this sucks
I don't want to do this anymore. It did look dope as shit
But no the Shelby was like it's you get behind the wheel of that car and you drive it and like you can tell
With if if you mad it that that that car could kill you at any moment, right?
But it won't it gets you close to killing you and then it's like, hey, I got you right like traction
It kicks in like it's it's so well-mannered on the street versus like the zeal one was just
Not fun. I just felt like it was just trying to kill you all the time. Yes, and I violent that that's cool though
Because like I agree completely with you
But that's why I like why you like yeah, so
The mustang was phenomenal and I'm not downplayed it's still
Amazing piece of machinery, but it was almost too refined like when I'm getting into a big engine
V8 American car. I want it to be super rowdy
I want it to feel like it's trying to kill me if I wanted to be in an Audi
I'd be in an Audi if I wanted to be a BMW I'd be in a BMW
American muscle car. I want that thing to be the rowdy as goddamn thing in the world. That's fair. My thing is interrupt me
What do you got here? What's going on? Sorry? I just I got
I got hungry and fortune auto came out with beef jerky
I think that's fucking crazy and it's actually really good. It's incredible. This is the craziest collab I've ever seen in my life
Uh-huh, and it's also kind of the perfect segue into our second sponsor of the podcast
Oh, yeah, which who is that beef jerky is fortune auto
I'm just trying to be jerky, but it is fortune auto. Excuse me. Let me finish this. This is not a mukbang
What's a mukbang?
We're like what that fortune auto partnered with a beef jerky brand. This was the coolest shit
It's also the branding the branding goes so hard on that packaging. It's so good. Yeah, this is this is dope
I'd recommend checking it. It's like actually like properly good. Anyway fortune auto themselves though the coilover company not the beef jerky company
Is
Another partner of the martini ricks podcast and we can be more than happy to have them on board because they make some
Fantastic coilovers and some pretty good jerky
500 series if you're looking for your all-around classic solid coilover option that can still be customized and built for you in your car
Absolutely solid option if you want to go up from there
The 510 gets a little bit more serious for those attract dedicated cars and such and then it goes on and on
But these are hand assembled hand built coilovers right here in the united states
We are fortunate enough to go down check out their facility and it is incredible. They have some incredible
enthusiast really driven
Guys and gals down there that put everything into their coilovers and make sure that they are literally perfect before they go
Out that door because if they're not they're getting torn down and they're getting rebuilt until they are
They do a ton of in-house like testing and manufacturing and all that sort of stuff
They're constantly expanding their product line even into like the off-road stuff, which I think is really cool
And they've been an awesome partner to have not only for the podcast
But for martini ricks in general and really are passionate about what they do and what they put into their products
So that is why we've ran them long before we even really knew them
On our cars and are really happy to have them on board for the martini ricks podcast
So if you want to check out a set of coilovers make sure to check out fortunato over at martini ricks dot com
Yeah, they got good beef jerky. They got pretty good beef jerky
All right guys the cat's out of the bags. We all know it
We ain't going to slammed enough cat. I mean gat. Why?
They shut her down. Oh, that's right. I forgot. Yeah, I don't know. They might do something
But with all that happening and whatnot
We've been kind of keeping our eyes out looking for the next show and where we want to travel to next
May try something new may a show we've never been to
What what shows are on your guys radar? Where would you like to see the car community?
I mean riverside's coming up in march. That's one that we've gone down to the last couple years
If you guys have been around the podcast, uh, you know, we've gone down there. We really really enjoy that show
It's a bit of a lot of your ordinary show
I would say there's no awards and I think that's like
a cool thing because
the
Like caliber of builds that come out and like the just overall like different builds that come out
To that show are just awesome. Uh last year
It was super cool to see like all like the drift builds and stuff. There was something older bike builds a lot of like
Just unique shit and I thought that was really cool
And it's always a refreshing show that the venue and like location is super dope really cool area, Tennessee
Looking forward to that one that's coming up in march
So if you're going to be in the area checking out that show highly recommend checking it out
Say hi to us a really good time come say hi to us. We'll be down there
We shoot some content probably interview you ask you a question or two
So make sure you're ready for a pop quiz. Yeah
So you don't look like a silly goober online when we ask you what te 37 stands for and you're like, uh
You're gonna you're gonna anyways
That's a thing as people realize like even if you know something
When some dude runs up to you with a microphone and the camera gets shoved in your face. You just forget
It just whoop. You're great. So that's why it's so fun to get any reactions
My favorite I think was from gatoanberg this year
You ran up to the guy wearing like a real wheels like shirt with a bunch of like, oh, yeah
You're like name three wheels from
Raise yeah
Or the guy that couldn't name a car
Just
Dude
That was one of my favorite videos
Uh, but yeah, so looking forward to that one. But as far as new stuff, I honestly I gotta do some research, man
I don't really know
I got you. Yeah, I got you hit them move them. Where are we going around the list number one low at the levee
What is that?
Uh, low at the levee is a show. I've heard Alex bring it up too. Uh,
I forget if it's Ohio or
Somewhere kind of in that neck of the woods, but they they shut down a bridge. Okay. It's a bridge that crosses
It's a foot bridge between I think that I forget what river it goes over
Maybe actually, I don't really know I'd have to look it up. I'm not super well versed. Ohio is for lovers. Thank you
Um, but it's a super cool show
It's um, it reminds me a lot of when I when we first found riverside
It gives me the same kind of vibe. It's like a little bit more bespoke
It's a little bit more hand curated, but it's a super dope location because yeah, it's on this bridge that that goes across
It's a big bridge. I forget. I'm gonna have to look it up here. The whole show's on a bridge. Yes
Yes, but it's kind of scary
I watch final destination. I have not what happens
Well, anyways, okay, here we go. Here we go
No, google. I don't want you to tell me that sounds pretty sick. Do I have to have a Chevy though?
No, okay. No, because the levee's not dry. Okay, so you'll be fine as long as you drink whiskey and rye though
You know what I'm saying? Okay. I'm just making sure I don't want to look like a fool. Yeah, that's true
I cannot find this for the life. I mean like I found the page, but did they cancel it? Oh my god
No, they didn't cancel it just says coming soon. Oh if they need never mind not going there. Um, anyway
It's on the purple people bridge purple people bridge. Yes, which is
Kentucky Newport, Kentucky Barney. Yeah, but it's super sick. So like here check this stuff out
They can't see it, but you can probably show this you can show me that when you're done
Yeah, absolutely, but it's so sick dude. The cars are super dope. Um
That's a bridge. Yeah. Oh it is. Yeah, they're not freaking sick. It's super cool
That's not no because we don't go through Ohio
I was gonna say is that the one that we like cross over when we drive down? No, it's a footbridge normally
Oh, and then they close it down. They park a bunch of cars. That's really cool. Actually, that's a good one
Yeah, Gretchen's wanted to go to that one for a long time. That sounds really dope. So yeah, I think that'd be sick
I only have a specific show, but I haven't been to any shows in like
The northwest so like Seattle, Washington area, and that used to be huge with the stand stuff
I remember watching videos back in the day of shows out there and I would love to do that
I'd love to see the car culture out there and I will say
When we went out, uh, we went on to Formula Drift Seattle. Um, a couple years ago and
If it's anything like that
It's got to be crazy because what was really cool is that Formula Drift started to really like kind of do
Release when we were going uh had like a show section
So they would have like a car show section of the event people go check stuff out
The cars that showed up to the seattle one because they're either
registered in uh, Canada or are in Canada and they drove down
Were insane because canada doesn't have the 25 year law. Yep. So like there was uh, like stagia like wagons
There was s 15s r 34s. Oh, yeah, all this like super dope shit
That like came to that show and I was like that that's pretty sick. So yeah, I'm the
Complete opposite under that. I'd love to experience some shows in like new york or main. Have I got one for you, baby?
I've never experienced those car cultures in person either. We're going
We're going i'm putting this into the ether right now. We are going to the low show this year. What's that?
Yeah, what was it?
Pots town pennsylvania little itty bitty town
Which not a lot of people know of except for one dude that's from pottstown pa
Who's a big outy vw guy by the name of jamie or oh, I know jamie
hosts a show in pottstown where he essentially takes over the entire fucking town like i'm in it
Let's go they park they park harlequins in shopping malls. Yep. I'm in it's so gangster
So uh, jamie's invited us out a couple years now and and we haven't had a chance to go out there yet
Um, but that is that would be sick. Hi. Hi. Hi. Let's talk about like new york too
I know like they go crazy for like sevens day. Yeah. Yeah, like time square with all rx sevens and stuff
I remember seeing like healthy ends
Content on that that's always stuck with me. It was so dope. That would be really freaking cool
But yeah, I just I'd love to experience car cultures in person and really see what it's like because it always seems like
It's a little bit different everywhere you go. So I'd really love to drag you guys along to like lone star throwdown or something
That would be cool too. Yeah, I'd be totally down to go to like a truck event. The mini truck scene is so cool
It's so rad. Mm-hmm. And like everyone's super chill
typically you walk around
You walk around lone star and you'll never have a shortage of a beer in your hand because everyone's offering you beers
And it's just this is a really cool time. I think to uh, this year. I really want to I just want to get to like rote america more
There's stuff going on there like every every weekend. Yeah
I think that'd just be cool like take the bikes over or something like dude the bike races and stuff would be
Phenomenal that'd be such a good time like go hang out for the day
It's literally in our backyard. I've never been in an endurance race six hour race. It rode america this year, which is sick
That's kind of cool. Yeah, that would be fun. So yeah, that'd be a good one to go to as well. Hell. Yeah. Is there any, um
What's your favorite show of all time? Oh god, um
Best one you've ever gone to
To date probably riverside
Riverside's my favorite. It's not a cop out. I know we were just talking. No, it is genuinely my favorite
So we when we learned of riverside the first year I went it was it was only the four of us
It was me or five of us
It was me my wife gretchen my my stepson zander and then ben and carissa were the first people to go to this
We rented a little cabin like an hour away from the show up on a mountain
Um, and it was sick, but I love riverside for a number of reasons. I think the car quality is great
I think the people there are cheap are awesome the vibes are just really good
The no trophies thing is awesome because you like I feel like you miss a lot of that clout chase stuff
It's just like authentic real people
Plus it typically happens on my birthday weekend. So that's sick
I just get to celebrate my birthday in tennessee, which is rad. Yeah, I think we get to do that together this year
We get to celebrate at the show this year because mine's mine's on the 14th and so like it might fall weird
So that's probably we're let's do it together. Oh, yeah. We're having a we're having a decay bobcat birthday party. Oh my god
Uh, I mean honestly that I've been I'm gonna be honest. I haven't been to like eight ton of shows
Just because growing up in the north woods the only shows that were kind of semi local were like the wcc stuff
But I've never really gotten to like a lot of stuff like outside of that except for like work ventures
So obviously like slamming off gatlenberg was one
Riverside we did go to fuel fests. Yeah, I did make it out to one of the fuel fests. That was a really really cool
show
I will say
Um
Riverside definitely for the vibes, but just like overall like just holy shit probably fuel fest was pretty wild
Because you guys went in la, right? Yeah, it was and it was at urwindale speedway. All right. So that was yeah, rip
So that was really cool. Obviously like cody walker and all of them were like a part of like hosting that so
The whole they had like all like the best furious cars there some replicas
But like they had like a lot of like the fast and furious stuff there
Was big I got to like meet the throttle guys for the first time going out there
And overall we just had a great time. We got like a just a airbnb that we all crammed into
in urwindale there
It was it was a really fun time
The rental situation was fucking atrocious the truck that we rented because we had to pull the booth down
Had an insane oil leak and the rental company was like
Huh?
Huh, like it drained all of its oil in in the parking lot of this airbnb or like the driveway of this person's house
What do you want us to do about it? Like I just fill it up
Okay, hell no i'm running that thing till it blows up and then you can come get it. Hey my fault
That ain't covered in my I know that's the last thing I want is to have us
Oh a freaking rental company a brand new truck
You know what my favorite show is what when we took the r34 gtt to bevernam
Stumbled upon a show. Yeah in the middle of a fucking corn. It literally was at like a four way
Just yeah out in the random county roads corner bar
And we stumbled upon it. We brought the r34 obviously there's a lot of like classics there
And so there's actually some surprisingly like really cool stuff there and uh
To see everyone's reaction
Love they loved it. They were so cool. They were so nice. They were enthralled with it
We're getting so many questions of like dude older guys were coming up
Like even being like you want to sit and get it? Are you serious and like getting their reactions?
And then on top of that we're eating like this these cheap fucking walking tacos. Oh, yeah
There's like there's a live like bluegrass band playing
Sunset is coming down. That was such a good night and it's literally cut out of a cornfield
Cut out and we're parked in the cornfield of the like cut out like a little grass section of it
And uh, it was just so the vibes were
We need to do that again this summer. We should we should like bring down the whole
Because it was on like a Tuesday
It was so random. It was like in the middle of the week because the stars aligned
Yeah, we were down there filming because uh, we were doing the gtt series if you guys watch that
Yeah, we have an episode on it and uh, yeah, so you can check that out. Um, but we
Brought it down to be radam because it was part of the thing
Dakota wanted to take it to like a lot of the spots that uh, like he
Where I grew up like grow up and like shoot photos and stuff that uh, so we went down and spent like the day down there
And he's like, hey, I think like there's usually was some sort of like car meet thing
On like Tuesday nights or whatever day it was
I'm like, we should see if that's still a thing and uh, our buddy Cody like found the address
He's like, oh, yeah, they still do it, but it's at a different location and we drove out there and do this place was
Fucking packed. It was jamming. It was packed
Like and like Dakota said it was like it was belayers and chivelles and corvettes
There was like a
You know, these are like cars that people have had like generational cars and then the family been restored like road runners
All this sort of like really dope
older classic stuff
And we were rolling up like, oh my god, they're gonna, you know, they've been gonna let us say here comes the rice
Yeah
And dude, they were so awesome. Oh, they loved it like more people knew
More about that car. I think then we did. Yeah, it was crazy because you know
They they saw all of that like transition when those cars like started to become a thing and they were so
Enthralled to see one show up to the their show. Um, that was really good. We had to go back. We had to go back
That was really weather was perfect. It was just it was just everyone was happy. It was so good
I love that. So it that goes to show too. Like obviously, yes, these like world-renowned shows are fantastic
They're amazing and you should go to those experiences. But don't shed away from going to your small town local local stuff, dude
You'd be surprised again
This is a town of 15,000 people and it was out in the middle of a cornfields barely advertised anywhere
And it's one of my favorite shows I've ever been to so
Make sure you're you're looking around check them facebook pages out drive around and if you see a random one pull in
Talk to them. See what's up one time. I went to a taco bell car show
I won an award. Hell, yeah
Best import. Oh, I was the only import
That makes you the best
I won best dsm at a wcc show and I was the only one there too. So look at that
Uh, I'll take it. Uh, you had a and w used to have car show up by us too
Yeah, dq and lacrosse used to have a neuronal ask I did too when you go to a car show
What do you typically use to like clean your car?
Mm melko. Oh, perfect. That's the third sponsor of the martin works podcast melko
They have been around for a hot minute and they make some good
75 years
Before we put a man on the moon
There was melko. That's true story. I have a t-shirt that says that on the back. Wax the rocket ship. Yep
Well, I'll get out and all that. We might not be able to confirm that but gel said it. So it's gel
It must be true legitimately though
If you guys know head on over to martin works. Look at the packages
We pre-built for you can get a whole detailing bucket to throw in your car keep in there and have it ready

To have is our like premier detail company because there's a lot out there
And it feels like new ones pop up every single day
So to have one that's tried and true and better around for over 75 years
That seemed like the move because they know what they're doing and they're passionate about what they do
Uh, and they've just really refined what they've made and we love their stuff. It smells good
Every product smells good any wheels that we ceramic coat come in our martin works
We use melko stuff to ceramic coat them and it's been fantastic. So a huge shout out and thank you to melko for being a sponsor martin works
