This is professional radio. Has front wheel drive.
But have you got anyone you want to think?
Just myself. And now we'll do the after
hours. Gentlemen, what would you do for
us in there? OK.
And because there's not a supercar, there is.
It's not. Order ready Perfection comes in
the form of two letters A&E. Long live my Ltd.
Welcome to Car Talk. It's Tuesday night here in 98.9
NW FM. It's me, Maddie Jay in studio
with Chad and Alan Deep Singh online with Mr. David Prince and
Mr Scotty to Johnson. How are you fellas?
Really good. Thank you.
Yeah, not too bad. Not.
Too bad, OHS Scotty, why not? Too bad.
I thought you'd be like, up and cheering.
Your reports are done. Everything's good.
No, there's still too long. Too many cruise control mate.
No, that's yeah, we're gonna talk about.
That and then just the the cold I had a couple of weeks ago just keeps lagging on. It's still there, just can't
shake it. It is plenty of rotten things
going around. I just won't go away, it's
annoying. Not ideal, but we'll, we'll
come. We'll circle back.
David Prince, how you doing? Man, doing pretty well.
Thank you so much. Well, this week than I was last
week, so that's good. You got rid of the spicy cough,
it's all. Good.
All gone. All gone.
Thank you. Very good, very good.
Alan, how you doing? I'm doing great.
Thank you. And I haven't gotten sick yet,
you know, surprisingly. Surprise, this is this is this
is big. Yeah, like I said, two years ago
I had the worst lung growth, like, what, five whole months?
Yeah. And I think karma is paying me
back to me. Like, you cannot get sick for a
little while. Yeah.
Well, you you were very ill. I was, I was very ill.
And Chad, how you doing, man? I'm pretty good cruising along
cruising. Along any sicknesses to take to
sing, sing, sing. Is like the the doctor check in.
It is by monthly no yeah, I'm I've been pretty good.
I I still do have like sniffles or something from the time I had covered or whatever it was after that.
And then yeah, just. Such a Melbourne thing to do to
check in now this time of the year, isn't it?
Like, yeah. It has.
Been called, it's called. Makes sense.
But it's been, it's been bloody freezing.
To be honest. It's been really cold.
I'm like, I've been freezing my gentlemen's region off and it's been very, very cold. I, I've been wearing, you know,
my thermal underwear, you know, jackets upon jackets and I'm still cold. So I, I'm, I'm a very, very
cold, cold individual. The cold bones.
The cold bones, yeah, like it gets me, man, it gets me.
But yeah, like I've had, I've had, I've had a bit of a sniffles for for a while. It's it's just still there.
But it's, it's, I'm not like getting anyone together.
Just feel like comes on every so often.
So can't shake it. But I guess it's that time of
year, as David Prince said, it is winter, so.
Yeah. It'll it'll get you.
But good to see all you gentlemen here ought to knight all. We'll start with some kind of
updates. We'll start with Scotty.
Daniel. Scotty, you put on the chat.
No bueno for the cruise control. So annoying.
So I did everything. It's got the plug there when you
remove the the airbag, yeah, behind there, plug that in, pressing the button, still not working and nothing.
So I tried the forums and asked them and they're like, oh, maybe a fuse. I can't find a fuse anywhere for
it that's labelled. And then one person's like, oh,
you gotta activate it through text stream, which is like their Toyotas programme with the OBD two thing and all that kind of stuff. So like, all right, I do like
doing that kind of stuff. So I've gone down that rabbit
hole and Oh my God, is that a rabbit hole?
Are you going to need like a $4000 machine for this Scotty?
Well, I mean like all of it, they say, yeah, there is a machine that's like, you know, 5 grand in that for it.
But I had to get a new cable that was all right, that was like 40 bucks, but then you need the programme.
So I've been trying to get free versions and that of the programme and then it was kind of working, um, but it was connected to the wrong region. Then I tried to change the
region and put it to Japan and now it's like locked me out.
That's asking for a user key to put in.
I'm like, oh, what about the other one?
So I tried the other the other version that I've got there to try that one and it's saying the same thing now too.
I'm like what? And then if it doesn't work, so
there's a patch. So I downloaded the patch and
you're meant to open text string through the patch.
So when I'm double clicking and trying to open it through the patch, it's saying that it's not connecting to the car itself.
And I'm like, Oh my God. Do you think like you was locked
you out or something? No, not necessarily.
Did you get this version from Limewire and it's lincolnpark.exe? You know it isn't one of those
versions. When I got the cable that came
with the CD where you can install it.
But who the hell has the CD drive these days?
Yeah. I've got nothing on a laptop
that runs a CD drive. I've got an external.
Yeah, got an external one if you need to borrow 1.
Just to install it and see if that works maybe?
You just gotta find a friend that pirates Blu rays and guaranteed they're gonna drive. You know, ask me how I know.
Yeah. Self incrimination.
So it was annoying. I didn't say I was afraid, I
just said you gotta find a friend with the eye if you watch that's not shit I anyone else. Cause the annoying thing is
because our work laptops have Apple so obviously everything you wanna use it on not gonna work on Apple.
So I have to use my old laptop. That's what I was trying then
I'm trying it now on this on the Apple laptop because there seems to be someone seems to be able to solve it.
So I'm gonna try it on that next, but.
Wow. I mean, if I can get it to work
it's pretty cool because you can code keys and everything for it.
Well, it's pretty cool. So you name it, you can do it.
So it'll be pretty cool if I can get it to work, but Oh my goodness. Did that guy come with two keys?
Yeah, I got two. Yeah, cool.
And. It's all start because the
cruise control wasn't working or it didn't have it.
Um, yeah, the car didn't come with cruise control, but it's got all the plugs there and the wiring and that for it.
So if I just plug this device in like it should work straight away. I've watched videos of people
with normal Corollas doing it and just plugging in and it's working so. You don't have a normal Corolla.
Yeah. But the wiring that was showing
is all the same. OK, so the clock spring and
everything where it's got the plugs across the top mines exactly the same. The wiring inside the ECU with
the pin number with the wiring is the same.
Yeah, some reason I pressed the button not.
Turning out of curiosity, at what speeds are you trying to make it? Come on.
I tried it at all speeds. OK, Yeah.
Is it supposed to have a cruise control light on the dash that comes up? Yeah, Yeah.
And that's not coming up. No.
OK. And then I just got annoyed and
found a little back Rd and just floored it and got to 100 pretty quick. So do you think it might be a
chance that it's the stalk as well?
Could it be a faulty stalk? Yeah, maybe.
Because that that could be, I mean, if this computer thing doesn't work, you might wanna try another stalk.
Yeah. And yeah, I've seen, I've seen
faulty cruise control stalks before.
It is a thing. So.
OK, definitely that can't happen.
I mean I got wasn't 100% genuine because the genuine 1 ones are way too expensive. Yeah.
I'm not gonna pay that kind of money for just a stalk.
Yeah. Just for genuine one win a non
genuine looks exactly the same. Worst case scenario, you can
always get to a record and try to get one pull one from a Corolla. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I was thinking that that way I can get the little plastic bit too because mine didn't come with that.
Well, what's the space? Yeah, I'll just for cruise
control. I don't know why I'm so obsessed
now. Well, you are going to be the
the person that everyone comes to on the on the forums.
That would be like, I wanna put cruise control in my thing and be everyone. Be like just tagging, tagging
Scotty. Say I wanna do this one.
This one's more fun. All the traction control.
Yeah, but I I'm not really good when it comes to electrical stuff, so I don't think I'll be able to do that one.
Just learn it Scotty. And then you become the expert
and you charge people small fee now small one, pair one, and you're the guy. It sounded alright.
What you gotta do? So you gotta remove the air box
cause underneath you got the ABS module and there's a pin in there that you tap into and then you take the wire and run it into the firewall and into where the part actually goes behind there and then ground it off and then your button will start working. Yeah, my friend Adam did it with
his Astra. He had an Astra SSRI that that
that quality to the same tapped into that one.
Why was it's pretty easy to do, provided you know which wire it is. You don't Screw that.
Up you don't lose a BS you. Don't lose a BS.
In too many movies with it, the rewire and the equaliser.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, I copied, I've got the
whole thing saved on here that someone did it.
So he tells you exactly what one to to tap into and.
I'll, I'll give it a go with you, Scotty, I'll.
I'll I'll give you that would be great.
We'll make it happen. Because when he first did it,
you pressed the button and he goes.
You know it works until you get to like 40 kilometres an hour or something and then it switches itself off.
But for it to work properly, you actually got to hold the button down. All right, OK.
Cool like 5 seconds and then it will be off all the time.
OK. That's right, I reckon that
would be fun. Hmm, yeah, so the default
position at the moment is that it's on all the time, is it?
Forever. Forever, OK.
Yeah, which gets a little bit annoying because any kind of tiny little slip, it kicks in and it doesn't do like the old traction controls where it cuts all power completely, where you go, where you got thrown forward.
It cuts all torque like cuts torque way back.
So it keeps revving all the way out, but you're going slow like you've got a little three cylinder motor or something and it. Not that there's anything wrong
with cylinder motors. No, nothing wrong with it, but
considering you got a big three and a.
Half when you gotta see through and a half feet of 6.
Their cuts, their cuts. A lot of the talk is the way
their traction control works instead.
Hmm. Well, well, we'll give it a go,
Scotty, and then we'll, we'll try to get that thing where I reckon it's a stalk. If, if it's if it's if it's been
done many times, even on other, on other blades.
I think it's a stalk. So, um, but you know, we, we
can, we can see how that other thing goes with the, the programming. Is the blade stalk same as like
a regular coral one? Yeah, yeah, OK.
Sits in there, you're seeing everything's with.
It is exactly the same. As you don't really see those
Corollas on the records though, I mean maybe there's a turbo record that might be wrecking them but not like a help yourself one. Yeah, yeah.
No, I agree with that. So they would Prince updates
with you. Dates with me, got to drive
everything this week again that that's on the property cause the Scorpion went to its new home. So that allowed me to reorganise
the garage again. The integrity came out.
I'll put some new leads in the Integra.
Turns out it has the original leads from 1987 and it sounded on 67,000 K so. But yeah, they they do degrade
overtime. Made no difference.
There's a bit of a hesitation in that car sort of as you accelerate up to about 3000 K's and then it takes off again.
And I'm being really panicky with it because everything else about it, it's so good. It just doesn't rivers freely as
I think it should so. Is it only when it's cold or is
it when it's warm? It's worse when it's cold, but
you do get a bit of a when it's warm as well.
So next will be the coil. Just checking a few things.
But you know, if it's not the leads, I'm happy to put the original ones back on because they look better.
There are there is other air flow metre car or speed density car question cause cause quite often all all old air flow metres can can play a little bit that could that could be that could be a reason. To New York City since then,
Yep, replace that. That was really easy.
So yeah, it doesn't hasn't changed at all.
I mean, you've driven it yet. It's still drives great.
But as I said, I'm just being extra thing.
I want to make it as good as it possibly can be.
Took the Z out for a Fang that's running, that's running really well. The legacy of it sitting in the
backyard for a week and of course Karen decided with two really heavy rain storms and made me realise it has a leak.
So we've pulled the carpet out and we'll freshen that up, run the Accord, the Accord's lovely. That's running absolutely fine.
Still having trouble with the aerial looking for certain been able to source one of the tools to actually take the take the top of the electric aerial out. But I'm going to run that down
to automotive integration in Moorabbin, who I do a bit of work for or have done a bit of work for over the years.
And I'm sure they'll be able to sort me out in 5 minutes flat.
But the good news is, what was the date of your last?
Tuesday was the 4th. That wasn't It was the 11th.
Hmm. So yeah, Thursday I found out
the N1 is on the water. See.
Actually got a date and it arrives in Melbourne on the 30th of June. So yeah, God, mark that date on
your calendar screens. Can we have a we have a dock
party where we all dropped out of dock and just wait for?
It I reckon we go for a walk around the Strand.
We track the ship, wash comes in, gets tugged into the.
I did that dude. I looked like the biggest
stalker. But it was, it was, it was
great. My my brother in law works at
the dock so we'll get him. To OHS this is gonna information
I didn't know. Him to swap us in.
An. Insight into Yeah, we quite
literally. Do how awesome would that be to
have footage of it coming off the track?
Depends on how it's being driven I suppose.
Whether I'd like the footage or not, I suppose.
Yeah, as I mentioned to you before, the wharfies can be quite interesting that there's there's a story of the, I don't know if you guys have heard this, but the I think, I think Australia got was offered five. We got 522 bees factory Aussie
delivered but only four got delivered because one fell off the Wharf as I was getting delivered OHS as I was getting off the ship. I think that's an urban myth,
Maddie. I think all the dock workers at
Melbourne are particularly lovely gentlemen and I'm sure we'll treat treat the little orange car with the due respect it deserves. They they would Prince.
I think I'm gonna see you there with like a baked cake and say hey, guys. Grace and palms.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, that would be funny.
Yeah, well, last time we got inside Man alum.
Yes, yeah, great to know. See again, if we get him to lose
his job over this, we all. As I said to you, many, um, it's
going to a workshop out in Knox to be compliant, landing in Melbourne. I thought was going to be done
in Sydney, but it's being done here in Melbourne, which would be great. So it's been suggested to me
that I go and introduce myself to them, which I'll be doing either later this week or early next week.
As I said to you, Maddie, if if they had a list of all the cars coming into the country and all the list of the potential customers, they probably wouldn't naturally match me to that car. So probably best that I do go
out and, you know, introduce myself.
Well, just. Just a quick question on that,
David. So if once it lands, do you have
to organise the tow truck to get I guess take it there or?
No, the first thing, the first thing I will do.
Well, they no, this is a short answer.
It will get transported to their workshop that's covered under the compliance costs and they will then let me know that it's there and they'll make a list of things, everything it needs for compliance or for roadworthy and let me know.
Would presume gonna make bringing another importing at the moment. And that seems they actually
gave him three lists. They gave him a list of things
that we need for compliance, a list for things that are needed for roadworthy. His is a 30 year old car, so
it's a little bit different to mine, but also a list of things that they think should be done as service or repair items sort of thing. So he's got three lists then to
work through. This is a different company to
that one, but I presume it would be a similar sort of thing.
There is some discussion discussion or some query over whether some of the modifications on the car um, will be compliant. It's got like a blitz pod
philtre on it, so that will probably have to come off for the compliance, but I'll be hanging on to it just to see if it makes any difference. So having only driven one for
about 10 minutes previously six months ago, I, I don't won't have much to compare it to, but we'll, yeah, I'm happy to happy to finally get into it and realise that it's actually gonna be here. That's exciting.
There no electric cars on the boat.
Yeah. That can be problematic, I've
heard, yeah. But you know, I don't think they
bring him anymore cause they just stuck out the the the at the yards cause no ones buying them at the moment.
Yeah, yeah. So I think you'll be OK.
David Prince, I think you'll be OK Scenario very good along Deep Singh. And update on the Dmax service,
I was wrong. It was not due in June.
They just kept sending me a message in May, I think from the original booking. Nothing.
I'm pretty sure it hasn't been that long.
Is still at the end of July. OK.
And actually got a call from Isuzu and they're like, oh, your service is due at the end of July.
Do you wanna look like Sure. And now I think by the time we
get to the end of July, it'll be another 15,000 case.
It would be like perfect. Yeah, yeah.
So I'm not, you know, again, I think getting your car, especially if you're driving around service within the year is probably appropriate. Yeah.
But I do feel like if I'm not getting the 15,000 K, you know, it's, it's not as simple as valuable.
To make money's. Worth exactly this. 15 between
services. I've gone 15 between services.
The the VFM, it needs to be strong with this one, yeah it's value for money is what is what that means.
So these are needs to be. Good.
Yeah. And Ed, if you're listening, you
never came to check out the MX5. Ohd you waiting for you?
Did you bail on? You did.
Well, he never said he was coming.
He he implied he was coming there.
There was a goat Curry I'm pretty sure a couple of days back as well already. He's never showed up.
So I eat the goat carry all by myself.
It was a travesty, you know, I got seconds, but.
Yeah. I'm waiting for you because I've
got a grand Majesta lined up. Oh, OK, good talking.
It's look I I have been looking at crown majestas, but again I would need to have the MX5 out of my position to be able to entertain the idea legitimately without getting beaten up at home. So yeah, there's, there's one, I
think it's through Iron Chef imports and they've actually got on city in Queensland with it's 2011.
It's only got 65,000 keys on it. You know, it's basically it's in
white, which is a colour I'd be very happy with personally.
May think about getting it, you know, wrapped in the future, but I'm very happy with the white one Yeah, it's but The thing is again, I need to actively be selling the the X files so.
Pop it online, dude. Yeah.
I'll do it. Well.
Yeah, Yeah, that's, that's true as well because I like, again, lots of experience I had was selling a car with my dad's blue Camry and that, you know, because it was I guess a cheaper car sitting around that $2000 mark, man did it invite the dropkicks. Oh yeah.
So, you know, people that are booking a time not show up, people that come and complain about the car being old.
I'm like, what you saw? Yeah, I'm selling a 1990 Camry,
like you don't gonna expect, you know, sometimes 2007 Orion or something. Yeah, like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's probably different clientele.
So yeah, just gotta bite the bullet, put it up and then get it moved on and then hopefully entertain.
It they put it through the right the right format.
David Prince is a great one. The MX5 club.
I think that's a really good one.
I mean any MX5 Australia posts on?
Yeah, because I'm, I'm on a few of the MX5 groups, so might just list up on that and see what's up.
I would do. That yeah, she's eliminated
edition, isn't it? It is.
It is. It's a classic, I think one of
100 allegedly. I can't confirm it though so.
Yeah, that's, that's, that's you.
That's you demographic I reckon. Yeah, yeah.
So I'll, I'll see we're putting it up if.
You sell it to, let's just say, Moe from the area who doesn't know what it is, and he'll blow ball you and then you'll see the car being towed away after an accident.
Yeah. About three months later.
Where is this way you know go to.
Like if you go to a good home, yeah.
Yeah, Chad updates with you in. Car wise, I haven't done a whole
lot in the last couple of weeks. I took the Tarago camping and
that was super fun. How was that?
That was really good. They're just super luxurious.
Not luxurious, spacious, rather. It's as luxury as 90s Toyotas
get. Absolutely.
But yeah, it was great. You know, pretty well insulated.
It was like -2° I think at one stage overnight.
And where did you go? Place called Great Western.
It's like. Yeah, we're.
Minutes out of our out, but yeah, no super, super happy with it. And yeah, tried to also paddock
bash it in the same place and yeah, it was a bit too dry and could not get it like to slide at all.
Like it was just an inside wheel the whole time.
And yeah, so you know, maybe look into an an LSD or something for that at some point, which could be fun.
That that that would be. That would be hilarious.
Yeah, I think you can get like a Hilux locked diff centre or something, you know? OK, so I don't know, I don't
know enough about them, but yeah, some something can work in it. Otherwise I try to work on the
brakes on the Civic last weekend I got some like bigger callipers out of an EK4 VIR. OK.
And yeah, I found out the hard way after putting the calliper on that my one one wheels don't clear it too.
I can't run EG size discs in that calliper and through the whole hub has to be an AK4 hub, so I have to do that whole thing. I've already got like the bigger
discs as well, so once I can find to me K4 hubs should be good to go. I mean, look, I don't know yet
until it's all together, but yeah, that should hopefully sort me out. I'm just looking around for.
Is it the same spindle? That I have to find out.
OK, I would have to imagine they did not change between AJ and AK but there may be some yeah difference and then I may have to get different Dr shafts or something.
So it could be a rabbit hole, but if not, yeah, no, that would be all, you know, A try and just run like better pads in my car and yeah, breaks that up and mitigate some of the breaking issues I'm having there. Is it?
Is it discs front and rear on that or drums and rear?
Drums on the rear on the drums are great.
Like they've still got the, I don't have to, they're the original brake shoes, but like they've got plenty of meat left in them and adjusted them so they're like nice and tight.
Yeah, yeah. But yeah, I'm just having like
major break issues on the front. I'm just like getting a lot of
fade. There's overheating.
Like I tried a couple of different pads and yeah, I'm just getting like a lot of brake fade and just like really spongy pedal. Which may also mean that I'm due
for an update like a replacement master cylinder or.
Something, well couple of things you can try that you can try.
Have you got upgraded brake hoses?
Brake. Lines.
No, Yeah, that could be. It some put some braided lines
in there, put some really good high temp fluid and some good quality pads in that. That should sort you.
Out with yeah, yeah. So I think if I can't get this
done in time, yeah, like Spin the Wise or sorry, the hub and I'll just go down that route and yeah.
There's. Have you tried big discs?
So you can't fit 262. So it's got 240 mil on on it
currently. OK.
And then the next size up standard, yeah.
And then the next size up I think is 262 out of a VIR.
I mean I'm sure an EK1 disc might work but I don't think it's probably much bigger. But also the pad needs to also
have a bit more like space on it as well to really get that bite.
Yeah. So I guess we'll say I'm Oh
yeah, I'm in like 2 minds about it.
I'm either go down that rabbit hole or just get like really good. You know, as Maddie said, high
temp pads, high temp Flowood, right lines.
Yeah, yeah. Like that could be the short
term goal, but I do want to eventually like have a better set up. In a kind of set, did you did.
Sorry, David. Yeah.
I was just gonna say that there's a guy in the club, Mattie knows him well, young Malcolm.
When my son was running a first Gen city, he actually came back to me one day and said you know we can upgrade the brakes, we can actually put Jazz ventilated discs will bolt straight on with integral callipers and that actually increased the increased the stopping capacity or the size of the pads was 50% bigger.
That's huge. And it just transformed it, you
know, from being because he would be sprinting out to sand down and stuff and. Yeah, OK.
Brakes with those tiny little sources that it had on it, but yeah, it was it was all just plug and play and just transformed it so. Do you know if you had to modify
the hubs or anything like get different hubs or just?
Straight on. So yeah would work with him.
OK. Yours is a is a GLI or an SI.
OK. Yeah, yeah.
I'll, I'll check into. That that's why it's worth it.
Ask her, and especially on the people.
I'm gonna say is the was the the VTR did that have bigger brakes or the OR the G6 that which you can get from which we never got here, but like did did they have a bigger break set up or they all kind of the same and on that generation of AJ?
What would have to imagine, because in a G6 was a VTech motor, I would have to imagine it might.
I don't know, is the power difference big enough to warrant bigger discs? And yeah, maybe I.
Little in the fact that it was never came.
It came here. So yeah, yeah, that, that is
also, but I was wondering if that same setup came up on the on the, on the, the, the standard, the single overhead Cam VTech, yeah, AJ's we got so yeah, true.
All the Tigers TRX, is that it? Yeah.
OK. Yeah, maybe that.
And therefore by 100 aren't. Though they are, yeah.
OK, that's worth a look into them.
Yeah, that's good. Excuse me, A couple of options
to pursue this will get. So rest of the cars are pretty
much they're sitting as they are.
The 190 hasn't really been touched much unfortunately.
But yeah, that's I'm thinking about seeing if I can get someone to do the work for me just because I'm so can't find the time at the moment rather than just like rotting under a car cover. Yeah.
And this Sylvia is good. No problems there, except that
it's it's the the Regis lapsed because I left the thing too long. What do you call it?
Hasn't lapsed. It's now suspended.
But the other club Reg form though the renewal needs to be, I don't know you could get a digital endorsement.
So I did that Senator victorious and they just rejected it immediately, saying it needs to be a hard signed copy.
And I was like, OK. Really depends on the branch.
You get. Yeah, the person you get it
seems it's fraught with problems I've had.
I've had the same thing. I've signed endorsements for
people and then I just signed one yesterday where they put it in and they said no, but by then he'd received the thing anyway.
So I just signed the renewal anyway.
Alvarado. And.
So annoying. Like there's just no.
More than three months out of date.
No, it's not. It's not.
Sorry, I wrote. I used the wrong word.
It's not, it's not lapse, it's just it's, it's expired.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. But it hasn't lapsed the past
three month thing. So.
OK, I just. Can't drive it right now, hey?
You should still be able to renew it within.
Three, well, I, I tried, I, I, I got the, got the endorsement, I ended up getting the hard copy, signed the renewal form and send a scan off to Vicroads to whatever email address they provide. And I was just still waiting to
hear back. It says up to two weeks.
So we'll see I guess. Now you know how to make it
quicker. I was waiting.
I did that with the XR8 that my mom owns weighted cookers, like they said are the one of the signatures wasn't clear.
So then I scanned it, scanned it in properly and I was like, oh, OK, they give you another email to to send it to.
And I'm like, yeah, like that. Why haven't they responded yet?
So I just kind of like, hey, I sent this over a week ago.
What's going on? And they're like, let's have a
look for you. I give us a moment.
All done for you. Like they don't.
Know why? So I just needed a little kick
up the bar, yeah. On the backside and say, hey,
you know, can you, can you suss this out for me and.
Yeah, it's definitely been awake, so I guess I'll call them and see what's going on, Yeah. Yeah.
The other thing is to call next time you're down sort of southern suburbs called in a header and take your old book and say, oh, I, I lost the renewal.
Can you print me out a new one? I'll print you out a new one,
get it signed and then just send it.
Then you've got the original one.
They'll reissue with your one. Yeah, OK.
Even though it's out of date, but if it's within three months they'll they'll reissue it. Yeah, yeah.
Alright, cool. Yeah, that's it.
Should be no problem too. Much less stuffing around than
actually having to then get another roadworthy in.
Yeah, it's not happening. If, if, if it lapses and there's
there's I can't get registered, It's getting parted out.
I can't do anything with it. It's it's too far gone in
quotation marks to get another roadworthy.
Yeah. Proper one at least.
That that's a joke for anyone listening.
Yeah, that's cause all fully roadworthy and fully Rd legal.
Politely roadworthy. Allegedly.
Allegedly. It's cemeteries listening.
Yeah. Yeah.
But yeah, what's going on with you, Maddie?
What's new? Man, not much I had, well, I
wouldn't say I had the day off, but I had the day off today purely was the fact that I finished all my reports early cause it's a report writing day today.
Yeah. So I went and saw the one and
only David Prince today for, for a lovely breakfast and, and he looked at my roof racks because one of the, one of the clipses kind of come apart and he taught me how to fix it.
And I went home and did that. So it's, it's a lot more solid.
David Prince. Hopefully it stays that way so
nothing but a simplex won't won't fix.
A lot of secret flex. It's good stuff, good.
The typhoon back. No, I know it's no, I know when
I need to need to do on that. It's it's nothing major
anything. I think that's pretty much like
I really don't like many much correlated things this whole because I've had I've had exams in Tamarac and reports to write.
So just been flat out with with work.
But yeah, I've just been looking online for car parts as you do, and I come across a set of wheels was I was like, oh, they said these look good on the laser, but then I'm like, you idiot, why would you want to spend more money on it?
So. So I've talked myself out of it
for now until until the next set comes up.
But anyway. Are they like OEM wheels or are
they are? No I was looking at RPF ones
Ohhhhh yeah yeah cause I I saw SB-20 with them on and I was like that that does look good hot yeah so I was like yeah wanted to get that but like there's like a matte finish one and I was like that that kind of look cool and like you know the the black matte finish with the orange in here you know logo and stuff and it'll. Look.
Oh yeah, it's like a final edition or.
Something, I'm not too sure, but yeah, it's, it's it's, I've never seen him like that before. So yeah, we'll, we'll, we'll
think about it, think about it like I've got plenty of options because you know, it's it's five by 114, so.
All the wheels. With all the walls in the world,
it's it's you can, you can really you can take your pick out which is which is David Prince found out today only came on the SR2. They are the five star.
Interesting. Yeah, so.
Compared to the other model like the base model lasers and stuff.
So 44*44 star. Yeah, well.
Yeah, yeah, correct illumination.
So yeah, that's that is that I think that that's that's my my updates. David drove my car today because
we we we had a lovely office, as I mentioned earlier, but that's that's pretty much it on my end. Now, gentlemen, tonight's topic
OHT like I, I had the idea of what, you know, the runners up for wheels kind of the year, but finding a definitive list is super hard. I've looked and I've looked and
I've looked. See, that's what I was doing as
well this whole time. Like he wants to run up.
I'm looking, I'm looking like I'm not find any runners up.
So. I was gonna be like, I didn't
study maybe. I'm sorry.
No, it's fine. It's fine because like, you
know, I was like, that would be a great idea to talk about the runners up. And then little did I know that
there's no too much about because nobody remembers when you finish second exactly. Yeah.
Like Neil Armstrong, first man on the moon, second man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Buzz over maybe.
I don't know if it's. So I've decided to change the
topic a little bit too. Cars that we think should have
won, you know, AA wheels, car of the year in its time.
And you know, there's a few cars that come to mind for me, especially from the from the 2000s and 90s, because there was some real, real crackers that that should have, should have taken the cake. One for me would have been in
oh, geez, 03 would in because the the O3 winner.
No, Sir. No, 02, the O2 winner was the
Barina. Yeah, XC Barina when I believe
it should have been. And you know the the Accord Euro
came in at 0203. David, I wasn't sure. 03. 03
Yeah, it it should it should have the accord.
You should have a win like that was a cracking car.
Wait. Did they seriously award the
Ford Everest as wheels? Currently year 23.
Yeah, they did. Yeah, it's.
Yeah, the crash into you. Yeah.
Yeah, You know, thank you for the accident.
Still upset? So I wanted to get your opinion
goes on cars that you think should have won wheels car of the Year and why? Well, even in your capable
hands, gentlemen, as to ones that you think should have should have been up there with a real big shot.
Won't bring up the list. Apparently I've got a list from
63 and onwards. They do.
So 60 years of the car of the year, last year we could do a whole whole episode, I think we probably have on cars that shouldn't have been carried the year.
Correct. Yeah, Yeah, we absolutely have
put the cars that we think we should have, should have possibly, you know, taken the chocolates because, you know, they were they were now saying, Oh yeah, that was a good car.
I said you could you're I think should have, should have really, really won. I think that was it's still
highly regarded as a as a great car and great drive.
I think that that probably that that really was yes, there's a time and a place. Remember, you could just see I
called yours. It really gave to this Purina.
They did. Yeah, Yeah.
Fuel wasn't even that expensive. Actually, you see, Barina was
2001, I thought. Well, there you go.
Yeah, the the. Impreza was the 2000 witnesses.
Impreza, yeah. 2000 yeah. And then what was it 202 is?
BA. Felt it was a B.
That deserved it. Yeah, BA was a good win, but 03
what was Oh. Three.
OK, yeah, 04 was territory. Yeah, I saw one the other day
and I'm like, oh, that's an R site.
And I'm like, well, that's interesting to see one running.
It's running. They go to the NC MX5 in 2005.
They did some like surprising because yeah, the NB did not win at all. Yeah.
And I was gonna tell the na na, yeah, 1990.
Year 9189A1 and C1 and did they end a win in the end in D1?
So yeah. Yeah, 2016. 16, yeah.
No love for the NBA? No love for the NBA Which which?
I've said I'm a pen and angry letter.
Yeah, it's funny though, because like, the NBA is really just a, a refreshed in a, in a, in a lot of ways.
But you know, I didn't win. Lost the pop-ups, man.
That's that's the reason why. Didn't we?
All the cars lost the pop-ups by then.
Let's see the the NBL especially now.
I mean, I've got one. It's it's still the more
attainable kind of car for younger person.
The NPC's are there like, but some of the people that hang on to them kind of still want the higher dollar.
And Anna is just kind of priced out unfortunately, unless you got bigger change. And how much Anna is going for
these days For a good one. People want at least 20 for a
good one. OK, but the problem is you also
can't get chains on a good one because anyone that's got one doesn't want to let go of it either.
Yeah, because they know they're gonna get another one.
Like, you know, rusted out ones and ones from Japan stuff.
But yeah, you having a bit of a gamble, There's plenty of maybe used to go around still. Yeah, especially mine.
So hit me up. Well, I, I do think the then I
said it before, I think the B's are very, very, it's a really cheap, affordable drivers car. Like, I don't know if you guys
have ever driven an MX5. They are really, really good to
drive. They remember driving yours.
And I'm like, oh, this things great.
Like it's it, it, they drive so well.
Yeah. And you know, you get why, you
know, they get all the praise they get.
Yeah, it's not quick. Yeah, it's not, you know, it's
not, you know, the most powerful thing in the world.
But that's not the point of like, oh, the point of the cars to top down. Have fun.
We know David Prince likes, likes, likes convertible.
OK, interest you, David. I'll give you a friendly
account. No, no, I'm, I'm, I'm fine for
the moment. Thank you.
He's after. He's after something from the
more Magna kind. Let's just leave it at that.
So. So, yeah, MB's a good one,
Ellen. I think that that's a that's a
good one. Not to win.
When did the NBA come out? Was that 98 didn't?
Yes, 98. OK.
And what one in 98? 198 was.
A liberty waggon. That's a good car.
That's a fair winner. That's a fair.
Winner and yeah, Oh yeah, the MX5 was one of their contenders.
Yeah, that's right, along with a new 9/11 and an A class and the U Falcon. AU Falcon missed out.
Well, that's that's a travesty itself.
Man. Scotty, what cars do you think
should have possibly won a Car of the Year?
No no, I'm having a look at 97 at the moment while I'm flicking through. Can't think of much else in 97.
We really covered 98. It's interesting for 99 that an
S class gets up there. We talked about that.
Hmm. To have an S class win it in 99.
Can I can remember that and and there was at the other another's class earlier on, wasn't there? 126.
Yeah, yeah. I remember, you know, back then,
before you know, it was all on the news, you'd Russia and you'd get all the carrier editions out and pick and you'd open you go OHK OK, OK, well, I'm never liked you know, they were they were the the cost of it, you know, decent housing Turak probably at the time and it was like, OK, well, how relevant is that? I mean, of course it should we
carry the year it course it should be one of the most expensive cars you can buy. But it's interesting the 86 the
Accord was withheld from cars like the Skyline Saab 9000.
The 300 E means the RX7 and the Honda Legend.
Why do they withhold the the the the one that Yahoo?
What was the reasoning? Behind the the reason was that
nothing was deemed to meet Wheels true spirit.
Award which means what? Yeah, exactly.
No one bribed. Them.
Yeah, true spirit paying our pockets, you know.
Say, looking at 2001 with that Barina, I think, I wonder if, um, in the runners up was um, the Lexus IS200 cause that was there in 2001. But it came out early.
It didn't last. 200 was that. That would be 9899.
Nice 200. I thought it came out about
2001. Hmm.
Or Walmart in 2001. Why did they put the Monaro in
there? That's a good that, yeah.
Yeah, that was also Holden. It wasn't a shitty Holden,
that's all. Yeah, I I think that when is it?
I think that's definitely with you know, I think that that really that changed the landscape for kind of, you know, Australian cars. Really that was that was really
a world car and yeah, it went everywhere and did many things and still to this day, I think we can all agree on this podcast that that's a good one of good looking car and two one of the best things holdings done. So yeah, surprising.
Real surprising. And I was just a year off so
arrived in Japan a bit earlier, but it was a year off.
Surely there's something better than Arena in 2001.
Apparently not Scotty. Hold on, hold on trying to get
rid of him. Like, alright, you know, pay
some money. I want to look up brand new cars
from 2001. Also look at the RX sites,
something nice you know it does maintain the rates weird with the doors but it is what it is. I think equally the 350Z could
have taken in that spot. Hmm.
Yeah, like those are cars that even today it's one of those like especially as a a drift car that's not, you know, a Falcon something. If you want some better than
Falcon, those are really a good option these days.
He's been on Yeah, yeah, I, I, I would agree with you.
Also, the 1st generation Honda Honda Fit came out in 2001.
OK, Yeah. True, which which is, you know,
that's in every shape and form better than a Holden Barina.
I you know, that that's a bit, bit of a bit of an interest.
When the, the 4th Gen Integra came out in 2001, the, you know, like there was some good stuff that came in 2001.
It wasn't, it wasn't a bad, it wasn't a bad year for car.
So yeah, interesting. It's a it's a really
interesting, interesting pick that they've went with that.
After the award was hit withheld 9687, the four wheel step Prelude got the got the Guernsey and this report says that it's high revving 4 cylinder engine, mechanical 4 steering and outstanding handling hoisted at head and shoulders above rivals including the Ford laser 4 wheel drive turbo Benny and the Toyota MR2. Two cars that I like.
Is a bad year for Maddie Jay? Yeah.
But you know, I like that generally anyway.
So it's, it's, it's I'm, I'm happy to lose to that because that's, that's a good car. The following year was the VN
Commodore which have like 5 Series BMW and the the Civic in 88 so the 4th Gen civic so Ed Civic.
Yeah, how did how did the VN win wheels Car of the year like that for me just makes no sense. Really good question.
Not a good day, but they're not a good car.
Like, like they, they, they, they were terrible when they were new. Like, like they weren't good.
And I'm not, I'm not saying the Fords are any better, but they, they weren't. And, and a VN, it's like we said
for years machine during high school, when we were in high school, you know, if there was a vein on your front, on your front lawn, you've made bad life choices.
Like it was, it was, it was, it's one of those, it's one of those cars that that that personifies that.
Yeah, they're, they're, they're, they're really good burnout machine. But you know, I'm don't think
they were deserving of. Yeah, I don't think anyone
associates burnouts with high society.
I'm gonna say they they made some bold choices in 91.
I mean both the cars, the NSX and the N14 Pulsar great cars, but also who was able to afford an Essex then goodbye Gulf War, you know, yeah, economy in the toilet as a as a crazy choice.
I I see Magnus won it twice. You did.
Love with the Magnus. Also I must say the the T magnet
does look pretty cool. What about you David?
What would be on your list? Of course, that should have won.
Yeah, certainly. I mean by the mid 90s there were
not many dud cars, so I reckon it was probably getting pretty tricky. Most things were pretty good.
I mean the Mitsubishi must have had a great time during the 90s.
You know, with the late 80s, early 90s with the Nimbus and two Magnus. Honda did well.
Really odd one. I still don't understand why it
won't carry the year. Was the CZ in 2012.
Yeah, that's a really interesting one.
That was 2011. Sorry.
Controversial win, it says. Certainly was Was the first
hybrid car that you championed. Only one with the manual gearbox
as well as a niche performance car.
Face value wasn't terribly create value for money, even though smile inducing dynamics and the fact that it wasn't a boring hybrid allowed Honda to claim its sixth car of the year trophy. I can remember being absolutely
gobsmacked when it won because I thought, yeah, fun car.
I've driven them and they're they're great.
They they do handle really well, really good chassis on them.
But yeah, there were lots of other contenders.
It doesn't. This doesn't list what the other
contenders were, but the that was a that was a strange one.
They were very low volume, they were very expensive and they did not sell many so. How much were they knew, David?
Ohe it's a good question. Have to Google it and find out.
But they were not cheap. No, yeah, I know they weren't
cheap. I mean the insight but before it
was hideously expensive. There about 55 grand when they
were first released. I'll pick you up.
Then I will say I think the toilet 86 for 2000. 12 was it?
Yeah. That's that's a, well, a good
fit, yeah. Like that brought back a lot of,
you know. Was I thought it was sports?
Yeah, affordable sports car, real drive kind of thing.
I'm just blanking on like white cars came out in what year?
Now looking through the list, I'm like, Oh yeah, what else came out? I can't remember.
It's yeah, there, there, there's been.
I mean, there's a million cars coming every year, really, but.
He's a good one. 2015 there was a withheld award so didn't
choose one. Yeah, I was going to say if we
had to do a wheels car or a cat or car of the year tournament every year and we had to put some categories to, to judge it by seeing as we, we, I think we've discussed that we'll, we'll sometimes don't know what they're talking about.
What would our categories be? How would we, how do we judge
them? And how would we, you know, and,
and what would be, you know, the, the, what criteria would we specifically look for in a car to win that, to win that category every, each and every year?
I think we should delay the award for five years.
I reckon you should come back and look at five years ago and see what was released and I reckon we'd get Adam Morris on board from Ree Driven. I reckon we see what they were
like five years and 100,000 days down the track.
Absolutely. I think that's what, you know,
that's the sign of a good car. But on that basis, the Toyota
Camry would probably have won in the last 15 years.
You know, I mean, there's a lot to be said for fleshy looks and, you know, scintillating dynamics, but there's a lot to be said too for reliability and economical motoring over time, isn't it? Well, I mean we.
We. Discussed on the Wrong Path
podcast. You know, we discussed this
today, David, you're working on a 2017 or 16 Maserati.
Maserati, yes. And the whole dashboard was
cooked like cracked and everything split.
It's like. It's like basically I think.
What year was that from? 20. 16 or 2017 sorry.
Come on. So I I said to David, it's like
the Italians must think that people only drive these cars in night. Cause I don't wanna leave him
out in the sun, you know? And none of them have garages,
so yeah. Yeah.
Alright, let's, let's think some criteria.
So do we think affordability, like would you do a car with you that that would include like an US class or would you think that would be just a bit preposterous for the average person?
What would Woody, our car of the year be a car that's affordable under $100,000 that, you know, anyone could possibly possibly get their hands on? Would would would you guys agree
that that would be a good criteria?
I think under 100 is good, yeah, because that's kind of like a pretty. Good place to be at.
Judge owner, I want to write these down.
So under 100K, the first quarter under 100K.
This gonna be a smile component too.
Now that's a bit new age, I suppose, but you gotta walk up to the car and wanna drive it, you know, like there are some cars that on sale at the moment that you just look at me and think, yeah, no, look, I'd rather not look at it.
I'd rather. Would you call that the sex
appeal factor? Like when you're like, yeah,
like to drive that. No, Yeah, yeah, yeah.
There's an element of that, but more so I think it makes you smile either lovingly or excitedly as you walk up to it.
Yeah, I think it's like, I mean, who can?
Does anyone in here not like a chimney?
Like walking up to a new Jimmy? No, I know.
It's this kind of like the turnback factor.
Yep, correct. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, if you don't turn around and look at your car after you. Park, yeah, you kind of lock
your car and you always do that, turn back to look at it.
Right. So we've got the under, it's
under 100 grand. The turnback factor performance
needs to be somewhat important. Can't be the slowest thing in
the world because, well, I mean, OK, Scamp's not included in this, but the the like, it actually has to get out of its own way, if that makes sense. Feel like a Azir 200 under let's
say seven half seconds. Oh, no, no, no.
Well, as you know, look, if we consider cars from later like earlier on, yes, yeah. But if we consider cars in the
modern day, I feel like 8 seconds at least.
Any car can do it, yeah. Yeah, because like I said, even
a hybrid camera these days, yes, there will be an MX5.
Well, we can do the nitty gritty of these in a second because I'm actually interested. Because I wanna do, I wanna have
a car to car the. Look, we'll do it are the zero
to 100 and let's say you know, 88 seconds ish or like not being like a super heavy car. So that's at least fun in the
corners one of the one of the two is going to one or the other. I if it's if it's heavy and
sluggish and not also not faster straight line, then you know you could be questioning why you driving it.
I would agree with that. What about you?
What what topics would you like to have as criteria for our Car of the year? So the ones we've just talked
about are they that's all under the one choice.
Yeah, yeah. So it's gotta hit those 3.
Things, yeah, so basically all, all the cars were gonna pick out under 100,000, but these are the criteria at which we rate of like one to 10 for example. So you go back back to
performance handling I suppose would be would be another one.
This is going to be mean of me refuelable within less than 10 minutes. That counts out anything eBay
then? Shots fired, Alan, Shots fired.
Yes. Second, it needs to be able to
do your groceries. OK, so and, and it needs to be,
what's it called? Practical.
Practical. Yeah, practicality would be a a,
you know, important point. Yeah.
So the the category for that all categorization for that is either a load of groceries or a set of golf clubs.
Yes, lots of groceries. And Scotty picks the Golf Club.
I'll bring my golf clubs around and we'll put them in boots and see if they go in. There, just walk up to the car.
Yeah, Yeah. No, that's not gonna do it.
You haven't even driven the car yet.
Yep, it's it's out, but it's a it's a sports car.
Sorry you're out, mate. It's it's it's you know good.
So we've. Got practise to be a high point
criteria too. So high point criteria is when
you drive in looking for a car space, OHP, there's one and you can turn into it, yes, the car and pull the handbrake on and get out. Not one that you're gonna take
14 goes to get in because you're driving some huge dual cab Ute.
So we're talking front end. In front of you, in the frontal
rear is is is fine, but you know that you can go get in in one go. I'm gonna say that I like that
idea, except I think that rules out a lot of drivers.
I mean, in terms of like, that's not us, not us, just just saying, but like there is a skill factor involved in that.
So I've seen people do A7 point turn trying to park a Picanto.
Yeah, you know what I mean. Do the seven point turn still
pocket crooked? Well, we'll keep, we'll keep the
high point criteria is a good one.
Practicality, handling, performance turned back factor.
Also think efficiency is it we should we should we should consider that as well. Like that's, that's an important
thing for Shine 2024. Very green to give.
Again, efficiency versus power though, it's either gonna have like these are some efficiency or it's gonna make massive power. Because, well, yeah, I.
Can forgive it. Again, we're given allowances
just like the groceries or the Golf Club.
It's allowances because I don't think it's reasonable to expect good fuel efficiency of like a or.
Something that is true, that is true.
Of technology in this at all? Yeah, I think technology is a
good one. Sorry, CarPlay, Android Auto,
the others. Correct.
So we've got technology. How about we got we got, you
know, just the, you know, how it makes you feel when you drive it. So this should we should we call
it the fields the if it gives you the fields fields factor.
So, so just clarifying, we've got turn back factor, performance, handling, practicality, high point criteria, efficiency, technology, the fields.
Well, I think a couple more. And I think we can, we can, we
can start. Yeah, we can.
Look, we can come back to this especially at the end of the year when all the card new cars have been released and we can, we can choose our yeah, Plato Kardia.
Where is some usability come into it?
I mean, we, we touched on this briefly in a previous podcast about how so many cars these days are so connected and, and the, the problem with going into screens to look at controls and turn the heater up or the radio volume up or down or stuff.
And a lot of cars, thankfully, are going back to some sort of knob control. Tactile buttons, David, I think
tile buttons, that's the condition.
It's called the ease of use factor.
Like I personally think when you're in a car, if you want to connect, it should be maximum of two minutes, Yeah, like maximum to for the first time connecting your car, go in, click Bluetooth, plug in your phone down.
You should be. It should all come up and work
and off you go. I think that should.
I think that should be a thing. Maybe like two days to update
the GPS in the mix. What were you doing?
I had to like buy new USB, it just kept failing.
Yeah, even though I don't use the updated maps.
It's just in case there's any other updates they give to the actual, you know, system if it. Yeah, that makes sense.
Yeah. Do we wanna think about
servicing costs? Warranties.
Yeah, yeah, servicing. The car.
Could be important warranty, yeah, I think that's a good selection of stuff. So in each of them, so we gotta
turn back factor. Should we write that?
Again, that's a bit personal, right?
Everything's rated out of 10. Yeah.
So everything out of 10, everything out of 10 and we'd say OK, turn back factor would be if you have how many times you'd look back in the space of work, right?
Maybe just a yes or a no. But The thing is, if it's a no,
then it's kind of like not a runner up.
So yeah, it's, I don't know, that's a hard one.
Yeah, yes or no? No, I think, I think they can
all go into it. Performance.
Should we do it? How much beans it gives the
beans factor and handling? Handling will call it the
Melrose Dr Exit, they start. So, but I think the I think the
ride in ride and handling components, so like, you know, writing NVH needs to come into play as well.
So run NVH as well as stickiness will put practicality.
We've we've discussed high point efficiencies done technology, ease of connectivity, connective yeah, connectivity, connectivity and ease of use and the fields. That's a subjective one that
kind of just makes you how you feel using it servicing warranty. That's pretty easy.

I real life car of the year. Yeah, where have well, if you're
listening, we, you know, we, we will take bribes to to to put you up there. It would be valid for you at

that. So should we like do some
homework and then absolutely, I'm back to this.

Would we get it from China or Thailand?
Well, we getting most of our custom trying these days.
So I assume it become from China right like that that's I mean David Prince would have to be the guy to find that out.
But either that or or Thailand would be one of the two.
Like the Chinese market, I guess.
So, so sorry, David, was that? Said Are we asking the question?
Don't worry. Yeah, assumed they would have.

What was so special about their version of the Corolla Sportivo called the TTE? David, David, was it a 2 door?
They did have a 2 door version that is correct, but that's not the answer I'm looking for. But you can have another guess,
cause you're not wrong with that.
Alan, Alan, I'm going wild here was a tiger top.
It wasn't a tiger top that. That's that's yeah, I like you.
I like you. You're guessing it was
something. Different.
So was the E 120. I believe so, yeah, that shape.

Yes. But you already had a guess.
So it was super charged with No, she was it was supercharged.
So that's why when you said Lotus was like OHT they it's it's I believe was the same blower setup that they used.
If you go back, I did say supercharged.
That's where we wind. OK, Scotty.
We'll, we'll question #10 what you'd commercial in Australia had the idea of people not wanting to get out of it because it was so nice. So and in the ads they were
doing their life duties, IE painting houses and buildings, getting coffee, doing, doing daily duties.
What, what, and specifically What Car was that made for?
David. David.
That's just a guess. Would it be the Holden crewman?
Incorrect. Incorrect could guess incorrect.
There's a crowd holding out. How it would be a good holding
out? It would be a good old.

O elements Scotty so alum you need to you know doesn't if you get this you just. You know, how kind of you, man.
Those are you. That's, uh, Ford Falcon XR8 you.
I'll give it to you Scotty, I'll give it to you.
It is the FGCU. And they didn't want to get out.
So you seen the ad them driving and they're like painting the walls of buildings, just driving, reversing and and going backwards. And it was, it was quite, it was
quite a good, it was well played.
There is a car quiz gentlemen, score check, Scotty two, Alarm 2.5 Channel 3 and tonight's winner on a grand total of 6 Mr.
David Brands, well done. Well done.
Thank you. Very, very, very good.
Good work, Jeans, Good work. That is a podcast for tonight.
Let's do some plugs. David Prince, you do a podcast.
Ed and I do. We do a podcast called Auto
Retro, which everybody heard about before.
It's talks to people about the cars of their lives, gives a bit of a story and it's available on all the regular podcasting platforms. Yep, you heard it here first.
Scotty's got to the. Week Golf Tip of the week is to
play at your level, so you might watch some golf and you think, yeah, I could get tonnes of pars or birdies.
You can't, right? You're not gonna be able to.
That's part of the years gonna. Play, play, play where you're
at, you know, aim to try and two part and things like that.
I mean, I don't even really play for paws.
I play for bogeys as what I want to get, so play for where you think you're at, not don't go too crazy.
You gotta build to that. I like your honesty, Scotty.
I like your honesty. Yeah, Alan.
If you're interested in the electric car space, even though it is slumping right now, you have a good friend, Ricky [email protected] dot AU, also on Facebook, facebook.com/kaloob
AU. He is very knowledgeable about
all the electric cars available in Australia, which ones you should buy and shouldn't buy. You shouldn't really buy any of
them. But still sometimes you want to
shoot yourself in the foot. And yeah, that's that's the
decision. I ionic 5 NI would totally rock.
Yes, but you know, most people listen to this podcast if anyone does not have $120,000 as disposable income.
So, you know, if you are interested in doing that, hit him up. He's also very knowledgeable
about the general new house space so you can make sure you're not paying too much I think.
That need to discuss one night actually the whole electric car thing. No judgement, just information.
And it depends on what Facebook page you follow or what news report you you read, you know, like there's a lot of conjecture going around electric cars now and it seems to have come on very quickly and then it seems to be going pear shape very quickly in some areas and not in others.
And yeah, it'd be really interesting to actually not have a shot of bag's but just to discuss what's going on because there's certainly a place for them.
It's just depends on where that place is, and it doesn't seem where it is at the moment by all accounts.
I think an electric car in the heart of Tokyo would be perfect.
I think that'd be that'd be like, that would be the best thing. Yeah, it is a slam dunk.
Probably. It hasn't happened yet.
It's sort of happening. Happening.
Yeah, and whatnot. But yeah, I mean, come on, let's
Japan if you're listening. Yeah.
Like we don't need that. We got trains.
Yeah, that are always on time. Yeah, he likes to be better who
only just peddle around then park their bike.
I still wanna motor compact though.
That being said, you know, Elon Musk, if you if you're down to have a chat with us, you know, not upset, tell us about how you, you know, pull yourself up through your bootstraps from your parents, emerald wine in South Africa and you know, everything else and it really innovative stuff.
Totally not buying somebody else electric company.
And you know, we were more than happy to have a fully unbiased chat. We will, and I'll even stay
quiet for the whole thing, This stuff.
Just on top of theories, are they plummeting in Australia as well? Because I know that it's
happening in America, but yeah, yeah.
Well, well, maybe it's the time to buy a Model S, pay 100 day or something, right? Just like.
Price reductions in particular, I mean they're across the board now and the catastrophic. I can't think of any other
product, you know, that's maybe mobile phones are suppose.
I mean, they're all expensive again now, you know, like to buy the new iPhone or whatever when it comes out.
They're all expensive. But yeah, they were very
expensive when they were a new thing.
But but yeah, it's just it, it fascinates me.
I've I've got my own opinion about them, but it just fascinates me the marketing behind them and the the way that whole wave and is is playing out.
With such a massive, massive portion and there's like a pushback, so it'd be interesting to.
Talk. We, we, we gotta get Ricky Ross
at least to come in for sure, yeah.
Right, I'd really be interested. Do a full in depth discussion on
what's been going on the market. Yeah, bring your face pages
