Honda Civic
"Uh one of these engines is the 1.5 liter turbo. It's a four-cylinder engine. Uh and it's been around for a while and now powers some of Honda's best-selling models, including this uh Civic Accord, the CRV."
A very popular, typically highly reliable small car made by Honda. Some newer versions with a turbocharged engine have run into trouble with fuel leaking into the engine oil.
The Honda Civic is a staple of the compact car segment, celebrated for its efficiency, practical packaging, and historically bulletproof reliability. However, tenth-generation models equipped with the 1.5-liter turbocharged Earth Dreams engine have faced scrutiny over oil dilution and head gasket failures.
oil dilution
"Unfortunately, the engine's issues have also been known for a while, namely oil dilution and head gasket failures."
This is when gasoline accidentally sneaks past the pistons and mixes with your engine's oil. It thins out the oil, making it less slippery and less able to protect the engine from wearing out.
Oil dilution occurs when unburnt fuel passes by the piston rings and enters the engine's crankcase, mixing with and thinning the motor oil. This reduces the oil's viscosity and lubricating properties, potentially causing accelerated engine wear.
head gasket

A heavy-duty seal that sits between the top and bottom halves of your engine. It keeps the engine's oil, cooling fluid, and internal explosions completely separated.
The head gasket is a critical seal compressed between the engine block and the cylinder head. It seals the combustion chambers to maintain compression while keeping coolant and engine oil from mixing or leaking externally.

A variable compression engine (such as Nissan's VC-Turbo) uses a multi-link mechanism on the crankshaft to continuously vary the piston's top-dead-center height. This changes the compression ratio on the fly to optimize either fuel efficiency or high-load power.

A manufacturing method where hot, liquid metal is poured into a mold made of sand to shape engine parts. If the factory doesn't wash all the sand out afterward, it can get trapped inside the engine and ruin it.
