w KQA Freedom Radio. I'm your host, Big DAVP hanging

out with Camera Chaos and EVB. Hey guys, it is

a great day out there for most people for car show.

It's a great day for a radio show. So if

you guys are hanging out with us saw, you guys are in luck because I got some interesting topics for you guys to jump into this week. So I have

never man, maybe I shouldn't say never, but probably close, never had so much stuff sent my way on one topic to get my input or maybe you know to share the story with me. I had this one particular

story share with me so many times this last week.

And the thing about it is my understanding that happened a little while back, but for some reason it just hit the like the media's you know storm, I guess is the best way to put it. So if you

don't know what I'm talking about, did you guys ended up hearing about the Dodge Demon one seventy that was out sold for underneath the service member? Okay? No, all right,

so let me bring you up to speed. If for

all of you all that do not know what's going on, so this story. Seriously, I've had so many people to

talk to this story about me and said to me, I have you had telephone calls in the story, Hey, hey, I got this story for you for the show there is Okay, So it was really really pie. It's been

popular for years. Like when you know there's a specialty

car coming out, there's like something special, like rather it be maybe a dark Horse and you want to get a certain dark Horse and a certain color whatever it may be, or you want to get a certain Dodge and a certain color or whatever, and you know there's only gonna be a limited run. Everybody's trying to get

those cars, right, right, specialty right or the specialty car.

Speaker 3: Yeah, and you probably are like on a wait list or something.

Speaker 2: Yeah, right, absolutely, So, this service member that's in the military ordered a Dodge Demon one seventy. And if you

guys haven't looked at what were they? They make eighty

of those things or something like that. They didn't make

a whole lot of them. Look it out, Cameron, tell

me how many they made of them?

Speaker 3: Dodge.

Speaker 2: Yeah, the Dodge Demon one seventy. I think there's eighty

eighty available right now, I think is what it was when when somebody sent me the article, and I think it said like eighty and I could be wrong, but maybe that's the first run of them. Whatever. Anyway, he

went ahead and purchased the car. And I don't know,

you know, if, like anytime I sold a vehicle for the short period of times, I decided to sell cars, thirty three hundred of the Dodge Even one seventies.

Speaker 3: Yep, thirty three hundred Dodge Challenger SRT Demon one seventies planned for production, planned for production.

Speaker 2: Maybe it was this first eighty run or something like that.

Speaker 3: All for North of America. Three thousand are slated for

the United States, with three hundred going to Canada.

Speaker 2: So he orders it. Now here's this is what rubs me.

We've talked about this before. This always rubs me kind

of raw. So he paid fifty thousand dollars over asking

price to be able to get his hands on one fifty grand over asking price.

Speaker 3: The demon got a hold of hold of that price. Man.

Speaker 2: So he goes ahead and he makes the deal. He

signs all his paperwork. It's his, it's he has a

delivery date for it. It's supposed to come in on

such and such a date. Now he gets deployed, so

he makes arrangements. And this happened a lot. You guys,

hear the stories. This is a lot of people do

this during Vietnam. They ordered it in specialty cars and

they're gonna have the cars when they came back and wait for him. And unfortunately a lot of those people

do not make it back for those cars. And I

can tell you tons of stories where I've come across the cars over the years, many many years later, where that's the story on the car and how somebody ended up with that car. Somebody in their family had ordered

it and obviously India and unfortunately didn't come back. But

on this particular vehicle, he was deployed, so he made arrangements.

First when the car come in, his family was going to go get the car and pick the car up for him, and you know, hang on to him. He

come out right store it to it comes off deployment.

Well remember how I told you guys that you know and you guys, listen, I belong to a lot of forms, a lot of car forms, tons and tons of forms. Well,

what happens if the dealership takes your car, sells your car to somebody.

Speaker 3: Else, hoping that they get another one.

Speaker 2: No, no, well a didn't come in yet, whatever it may be, whatever excuse you're gonna make. Right, took his

car sold to somebody else who paid more for it, okay, and.

Speaker 3: Then so they more than he didn't. That's right.

Speaker 2: Over the over they asking over what he paid, they end up paying more for it. They give that person

the car. Now jump forward the service members overseas. Right,

I think he's in I think he was in Iraq.

I think is where they said he was at. He's

on a form page and this guy posts a picture of his new Dodge Demon he just got and then realizes it came from the dealership where he ordered it from.

By the way, he specially ordered this car. I think

it's special colors with a special features. So it's so.

Speaker 4: It's a coincidence. At first he saw his car.

Speaker 2: And man, he knew they say they like and everything I read, he knew, like he knew that was his car. Instantly,

he was like, that's my car. So he jumps on

and he starts talking everybody, and he's like, uh, you know, that's my car. He contacts the dealership, They give a

little run around, and then finally they basically come clean that yeah, they sold his car. They sold his car,

so what are they going to do to recommend well, I mean to make him well, apparently they didn't really care.

There was no like.

Speaker 4: Real even after the sale, even after the.

Speaker 2: Sale, even after he finds out and and you know, and and there's like nothing. Dodge Corporate had to get

involved to rectify because like all the Dodge people, like you know, people in all these form pages like we belong.

Speaker 4: To especially you know, sometimes with the specialty cars, you can't resell them for like a certain of years, right, And.

Speaker 2: I don't know if you could do that one. I know,

like Ferrari used to be, like you have to be you know, so long. Not to say I'm a big

Ferrari fan, but you have to have so many to get to certain ones, Like if you're going to own this model, you have had to own like two of these other models. First. It's like all kinds of weird

stuff that goes along with that. But yeah, so what

Dodge they lie? They I guess they kind of, you know,

allegedly lied back and forth with this with this guy and they got down to it and then Dodge CEO got involved and was like, look, and then they allied to Dodge about how it happened.

Speaker 4: So the dealership, yeah, obviously has like the sale.

Speaker 2: Papers right right, absolutely, so he has like he his proofing right right absolutely. So you know, Dodge calls a

dealership the dealership allegedly doesn't tell the truth. I always

keep it saying allegedly, but we know, we know the deal doesn't tell Dodge the truth. So then he I

guess he provides everything showing so what Dodge has decided to do. I'm glad that Dodge has stepped up and

decided to be a man about the situation. So Dodge

has agreed to give him the car at MSRP, not with the markup nice And it is rumored and I'm sure it's gonna be true because it's in the article, but you know, not to you see it happened. Do

you ever know Jay Leno is going to deliver the car to the guy. So I mean, that's but this

is not the first time step. So this this particular dealership,

it's out of Mississippi, has been in the news before.

We talked about him a while back, and I don't know what episode it was. This is the same dealership

that was price gouge and people on the cars like big time price gouge and on cars. Obviously fifty thousand dollars.

It's crazy, that's a crazy asking price. But I would

like to tell you guys that this is new. This

is it's not new. We all know, we've talked about it.

You know, if you go to enough car meets and car shows and stuff. We talked about the price cougeing

on cars like something new comes out or something's cool.

I know a couple of dealerships, so I won't name by name, but I know they have some pretty cool cars.

Nathaniel and I looked at one and it had a crazy mark up on it. When we looked at the

mock One. Nathaniel really wanted to mock one before he

bought his current Mustling he has. He really liked it.

But there was a cool guy add on to it.

I don't know what you E can call it, but I want to what was it?

Speaker 4: Was it like fifteen thousand dollars markup on that mysing basically what the New Year was.

Speaker 2: Yeah, it was like it was a you know, because it's a cool car, and it was. The mock one

was really was really cool. So they've added like fifteen

grand to it, I mean.

Speaker 4: But it was nothing like really performance wise, it isn't more.

Speaker 2: No, it's a package package, I mean more of an appearance packagean anything else on that car. But it made

it did It looked a lot cooler, but not for fifteen not fifteen thousand dollars. But so I think I

told you guys when I worked for Toyota, not even not even cool cars, I mean not the toyot does make cool car reliable. But when the Siena van had hit,

and I told you guys, the markup we were we weren't at the dealership was adding five thousand dollars markup on a Ciana Van, five thousand dollars over asking price, and it drove me nuts. I hated it. I didn't

like it. I told you guys, I didn't last in

the car business. I lasted three months. And I did

it during crystal time to make some Christmas money. And

I never wanted to go back and do it again.

I just I don't have the heart for it. And

I got friends of their car dealers, and I got friends of their car salesman. And I know a lot

of you guys listen to the show too, So don't get wrong. And maybe you guys feel the same way.

I don't know. Maybe you guys are just thicker skin

than I. I just can't. Back then, we were putting

people in cars that I knew could not afford them, Like even though their credit says they can, they could not afford that car. Like back in the day. I

don't know they still do it. You used to do

the whole workup sheet. I think I told you guys,

before you do a complete workup sheet, they write down all their bills and everything they have and d D DA right.

Speaker 3: Sometimes some people need cars.

Speaker 2: Some people know you're right, you need a car. You're

after right, you need a car, but you don't need you work in that car.

Speaker 3: Like do you want them to do you want them to go purchase a four thousand dollars winter car, you know, like a winter car.

Speaker 2: They go to the winter carus if you have no idea what this conversation is, it is a funny episode car.

Speaker 3: Or do you want to put them in a twenty thousand dollars Toyota? Yes, yes, you know that.

Speaker 2: So back then the camera was like twenty five grand I think is what it was for.

Speaker 3: Yes, you know that is expensive. It's going to be

probably what they were probably doing ten year. Now they're

doing thirty year.

Speaker 2: No, no, you are high as a kite. There is

no third. There is no thirty year car loan. Find

me a thirty year car loan. If anybody's dumb and

doing thirty years, the one of the highest one I think I've seen todate it's eight years, and even that I thought was completely nuts. Eight years on a car.

I mean, the when they got to seven years, I was just like, who's doing seven years on a car?

Seven years? That's a commitment. Relationships that lasted a lot

less than that. I mean, I'm just saying, and we

share dishes in a bed. I mean, seven years on

a car is a long carpet. I know a lot

of people have them because it gets them into cars that they want and they stend it out. But I mean,

I can't commit to a seven year car Loan. I'm

just gonna let you know. There's no way I could

ever do that. Seven years. Oh so one's a decade

that goes by. That's a long time to make a

car payment. Cars changed quick, yeah, absolutely, and you're you know,

once once you've had it for a couple of years, that newness kind of feeling goes away a little bit.

Speaker 4: I don't care how that's our fortunate thing, right is like when you buy a brand new car, you're hoping that it's gonna hold value or they don't come out with something brand new that tops which you just bought.

Speaker 2: It is desperately trying to find a thirty year carway, Yeah.

Speaker 4: I think the top is gonna You're gonna find is like you said, like eight to ten.

Speaker 2: Yeah, No, no, I think the eight's the top right.

The second I think eight eight years is the longest one I've seen.

Speaker 3: We're going to get to thirty years.

Speaker 2: He's a very good That was like, where did you hear, Carlo?

And there's no way but no. So the Ciana band

went out. Like I said, when I was selling them,

we had five thousand dollars markup fee on it and we didn't have them. I think I told you guys

before we didn't have any. We take it back. We

had three demos on the lot. They were up front

that were demos, and we weren't allowed to sell those.

Speaker 4: So it's the purpose suit having a demo. If you

can't keep this.

Speaker 2: What happened, people would come in. It's still baffled me

to the state it still baffles me. People came in,

would drive the three that was the CE, the L E and the x L E, and that was the ones we had. Those are three, you know, and of

course the XL was the nicest. They would drive them,

decide which one they want. They would go into the

finance office, do their finance deal, work it and buy it, and I like, go, okay, well i'll see you in a year. When that vehicle comes in and people were

to line it up to buy them. Now, keep in

mind the same thing that's going on right this second with this Dodge Demon was what's going on with that?

And I know that because Honda Odyssey was the hot item too. It was Siana Van in the hot Odyssey.

There were the two hottest items for that year, and Honda was on like almost a year wait unless two for the Odyssey. You'd buy it and you'd had to

wait almost a year to get it delivered to you.

Now we get a truckload of them that would come in, okay, right, that would hit the lot. And I can tell you

I know just like Honda did because they sometimes they didn't go where they needed to go. And I know

that for fact because Honda was trying to beat us like so they were like trying to sell it and Hanna's dealer ship was right down the road and twenty to fifteen years, Like you know, you'd work up a deal with a guy, would you say, fifteen years load fifty found twelve to fifteen years and he's like, I'm about twenty to fifteen year loan and I'd never do it.

But you know, I would work up a deal on a guy on a van and he'd be all interested, and then he'd roll up in a brand new hant Odyssey and I know you couldn't get one, Like I just knew that you weren't. You couldn't get one. You

were going to list. That means one coming on the

truck that week and it didn't go to the person who was supposed to go to because he offered more money and got himself into one. I just you knew

that was happening. So I understand the whole gouging thing.

I understand uh mispromises and hut delivery thing. I'm just

glad that like there's a light kind of being shined on even if this is gonna be this is gonna be a fifteen minute fame light. But it's a service

member that's overseas. He's fighting for you, and you're out

selling the car from underneath him, and like thought you weren't gonna get caught. I'm glad you did. I mean,

and I'm glad, like I said, I'm glad that Dodge just stepped up and decided to do something about it.

I mean, that's the the best part about it.

Speaker 3: I just hope, like I mean, like we said, we've talked about the company just a couple more times. I

just hope they kind of poo the Dodge name off of the dealership, you know, because car made effects.

Speaker 2: They did punish him for what I understand.

Speaker 3: Car manufacturers can pool their name off of a.

Speaker 2: They Oh yeah, they can all the time, absolutely, because you're it's yeah, because you own it like a franchise.

So my understanding was they were slated to get another one given to them, another one seventy I think each dealership is getting two, and my understandings they're not out getting that. Yes, that's the punishment.

Speaker 3: Because they probably do the same thing to another customers.

Speaker 2: Absolutely, I mean, so, uh, be careful what you guys wish for. I know, guys, I gotta take QUI commercial break.

Speaker 2: Hey, guys, welcome back. So I have an interesting topic

for you. You ready for this insisting topic? Everybody ready? Everybody ready,

bueler ready as I'll ever be. All right, let me

line it up for you in a different way. That

way I can get a real reaction and a real answer from you without it being because I always know this is going to turn into a debate. Maybe maybe

you won't. Maybe maybe you got as will side with me.

I don't know sometimes all right, So if you bought a product and let's say you paid what what's a lot of money that you think to pay for some type of product? It would make you mad if it

didn't work. Let's what's the amount of money kind of

product were talking about? I can't tell you that. Yeah,

I want to, because I don't want to mess.

Speaker 4: There're a realm that can like price into category.

Speaker 2: Let's just say if you've bet two thousand dollars or something and it didn't work properly, you'd be upset.

Speaker 3: Right, That's that's a lot to you. Yeah, that that's

not a lot to me. That's that's expensive.

Speaker 2: Okay, that's that's that's all right. So we established.

Speaker 4: I say, like anything like three hundred dollars and up.

If it doesn't work to what I want to three kind of mad, go.

Speaker 3: Lower, y'all go lower, guys. I'm over here thinking I

was thinking sixty, and then you started I started really thinking about it. Maybe forty dollars. I mean forty dollars.

If it don't work, then I'm going to be able. Yeah,

my hair was kind of for if it don't work.

Speaker 2: All right, let's just I'm a stick for simple, and it's because of what it is. I'm gonna sick with

two grand let's just say two thousand dollars.

Speaker 3: All right.

Speaker 2: So you have a product, you have it, you get it.

It doesn't work correctly, right, and then it caused you some type of pain and suffering. Okay, because it didn't

work correctly, you want to sue, right because you know for paints, absolutely want to sue because it did because it didn't work, right, That's that's a fair assessment, right, Yeah, you're like, yeah.

Speaker 3: I mean, especially if I paid two thousand dollars for it, Yeah.

Speaker 2: And then it caused you pain and suffering because it didn't work correctly. Yes, you definitely want to sue.

Speaker 3: Yes, Okay, let me guess there is a clause that tells.

Speaker 6: You you know.

Speaker 2: Up, so we're all on the same page. All I'm

trying to do is line.

Speaker 3: It up so that wouldn't be something a company we do.

Speaker 2: With gadgets being entered into cars, right, right, this is where we're going with this, and hands free being one of them. How many times have you used hands free

and it doesn't work correctly? How many time?

Speaker 3: Alls the time? I mean, how many times do you

have to push the button and it's like, I'm sure you can't.

Speaker 2: That's right, I can't understand your voice. That's one of them.

Speaker 3: And then whatimes if there was a real emergency and I'm overstaying, call nine one one, okay to do it.

Speaker 2: On top of that, because you bought, you paid for the car to have hands free, okay, so you don't you don't have distracted driving. That's the whole point of

hands free, So you don't have distracted driving now because it's not working, right, are you told to do something, you have to divert your eyes to look down to find out why it's not doing something, and you get into an accident because your device that you paid the money for didn't work right. Who spoke to that that?

So that that's the question. So guys, you got into

debate this weekend.

Speaker 3: Or is it the person that activated tried to activate that?

Speaker 2: Here's the thing, because if it worked correctly, I can't my truck does it. It's done it since I've had it.

But I got into a conversation not this, I should have said this week, not this weekend. But I got

into a conversation this week about this, and people were talking in a completely different model of the mind, different manufactured and everything, like, man, it just doesn't it doesn't work right. And as I'm you know, I tell to

do something, and I realized it gets stuck in between programs of what I've told to do. And then I

got to look and see, like why is it stuck? Hell?

I went right, and you're taking your eyes off the road because the device you paid extra money for to having your car isn't working correctly.

Speaker 4: Well, it's an extra feature, it's not a necessity.

Speaker 2: But you paid for it. You paid for it to

have that.

Speaker 4: Yes, well, I mean work into what they did. It stops,

it stopped.

Speaker 2: Hold on, I just have a question. So now let's

go backwards. Because you just told me if you paid

two thousand dollars something, you'd want to sue. Why does

it change now that it's in a car.

Speaker 4: All all manufacturers charge you for the features like some just bab went car.

Speaker 2: It's is built in the price.

Speaker 4: It is built in regardless, and some teachers right, are just built into the car that no matter if you get the base model, you're still gonna have it. You

can't be mad at the expectation that you put.

Speaker 2: Expectation is not it doesn't work right, and it's not we're not just talking about We're not even really talking about my vehicle. I just told you my truck has

always kind of had an issue ye people's vehicles and stuff like that. If it was not attached to a

vehicle and you paid two thousand dollars for you already told me you'd want to sue. Now, if you live

in California, as I say, if you're not suing somebody, you're not living life.

Speaker 3: So why aren't more in the United States.

Speaker 2: No, that's just in California. That's California. I think California

is a motto. I don't know, you all tell me.

But if you have the device and it doesn't work, and then I get in a car accident because the device that it's on my car that's supposed to work doesn't work correctly, don't I mean, don't I technically have like a lawsuit like that's waiting for I understand the problem is we're a lawyer that wants to chase it.

It's gonna be the problem. But realistically it doesn't work

as advertised. And people for false advertisement all the time.

This is false advertisement. It does not work, but you can't.

Speaker 4: But it's like like you can't really sue, like if your map, you know, lags. It's kind of like saying, like,

almost sue because my map, you know, it's a lack for a couple of seconds.

Speaker 3: Win the suit for like false advertising. You're totally right.

You might might win that, but you're never going to win the suit that you activated it. I mean you activated.

Speaker 2: It, activated because I paid for it. I activated it

because I'm paying for it. With that guess like say

I got tires in my car, but I only sit in the driveway and make room room noises. I mean,

like it's basically what you're saying. You know, it came

with the car and it didn't work.

Speaker 3: It's just like your cell phone. If your cell phone

don't work, what do you do?

Speaker 1: Yeah?

Speaker 3: Where you started? So, I mean some things are going to.

Speaker 2: Not why you're kidding, I'm not.

Speaker 4: I I was going to go more like down the line of like you know their phone drops, Like you can't get the cell service that you need because you know it's a little busy. You can't assume it because

you're on the phone call drop.

Speaker 2: But why not If I'm paid cell phone things that falls there day for service, day for service, then my self service never works like it never does. And I'm

not going to tell you I have, but lately it's been horrible.

Speaker 3: Uh why not?

Speaker 2: I mean, you pick up for something you're not getting.

It's no different than having your internet that you pay all those money for for the faster service. It's never

any faster. But we like dummies like, yeah, upgrade me

for another fifty dollars a month, Go ahead and upgrade and make it faster. And it never works any faster.

It's just there's getting fifty dollars from you. It's the

same thing that's faster. He's like, it's faster. I'm just

saying it's I find it very funny that I'm I've thought about it. And when you talk about pull over,

turn the vehicle, that's why I do with my truck.

My truck when it's connection stops working with Bluetooth and all that, and that I turn over. I turn the

truck off. I restarted. I wait for it to reboots

and then it comes on line and then I get back on the road.

Speaker 3: You just to thing, you just yeah, I got controls, You got it. You just said a perfect thing. Though

you pulled over, you didn't get into an accident. You

pulled over right because I'm able truck. This same I

told you, guys even.

Speaker 2: Hold on because I heard I don't even like talking on the cell phone while I'm driving. I just don't

like it, and I believe it distracts me. Maybe it

doesn't distract you, but I believe talking on the cell phone distracts me. So I don't. If I can't go

to hands free or whatever, I don't, I won't hold a phone. I'm not hitting talk on my phone. I'm

not going anything like that. Now. If I can hit

it on my truck and make it come through the speakers to the stereo system, then I'll probably have a conversation with you. But if but you can even know

and testify. I told you before, Hey, I really need

to concentrate. I'm in traffic. I don't want to talk

right now, and I've hung up, have I not? You're

right because I don't want to be distracted.

Speaker 3: You also, I understand, and like I said, you will win the suit for the false advertising. But at the

same time, you're asking for a device to be perfect that we have already said. Right, that's not perfect. Everybody

there is.

Speaker 2: There is nothing truck. Nobody said, Hey, it's bluetoe. But

just so you know, it doesn't always work, right, the salesman not win.

Speaker 3: The lawsuit for the false advertising. But okay, let me

put it in this way. Let me let me lotch Okay,

let's say you do win it, right, what is your fix?

Because things break all the time, things don't.

Speaker 2: We're not broken. It just doesn't work. And I'm not

just talking about that. There's other little features that are

hands free features that don't work right. The camera has

a couple of little glitches that I can tell you within its hands free stuff and its self driving mode.

There is some glitches in that car that you need to pay attention to. With knowing that, couldn't you go, hey,

your your product isn't perfect yet you're putting in now.

And I think this is where test. I think that's

where Tesla. Like a lot of lawsuits come against Tesla

because people are like trying to use that avenue. They're

not winning. There's those lawsuits. But I'm just saying, like.

Speaker 4: Obviously you never have product ever hit the floors, then if it has to.

Speaker 2: Be the Tesla right on all projects, we know where the gigs. We already know this and in the day

you are right, at the end of the day, we are the guinea pigs. We're the guinea pigs for new

technology when it comes to cars, you name it phones, point at something that's electronic, and we are the guinea pigs.

That's just the way that works. I mean, that's a

whole other story. Some of those videos set my way too,

and I watched it. I'm trying to figure out with

the whole I robot kind of thing. I'm trying to

figure out what's real and what's not real at this point in time, because you realize that some of it is technology that's coming but maybe not perfected in there, but they're just kind of showing what it is.

Speaker 3: It does kind of fit into our into our show though, because he did come out with and we're talking about how Tesla released his robot, but he did, and he also released the taxi thing, which is okay, So let's let's.

Speaker 2: They say he lost a lot of money on that, and I always do the report of that, like fifteen billion dollar loss on the on the roby taxis.

Speaker 3: Yeah, I saw tangent right right, But how do you guys think that that's going to affect Uber and Lyft Because if he has taxis and automative taxis just like way Mow and and all these other companies do, and.

Speaker 2: Then Je, everybody's gonna go to that story.

Speaker 3: How is that's not whats right now?

Speaker 2: They're busy with the buying roof tops.

Speaker 3: Yeah, but are we gonna have to use the Uber and Lyft app to request that type of car? Are

we're going to use now a Tesla taxi app?

Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. So like when you go to

Vegas and I don't know they're still doing but they're on their test run. You had the option to have

a driverless taxi, they're going to do it in Sema.

That would be because they did make the Last time that I was there in Vegas, they were still running the driverless taxis and you could request a driverless tax it was one of the options. So you get one

with driver and one without and that was through I wanted to say it was lyft Uber that was Maybe it wasn't it was somebody. It was one of the

services was doing it because they were driving around and they had signs on it saying you know they were and they were taxis, so they were testing. They may

still be testing it out there. Like I said, if

you didn't know, we are going to Seema, we're gonna be there this year. Here in another couple of weeks

Speaker 2: Hey, guys, so I have an interesting one for you that goes along with the course of this week's show.

I guess because everything's just been a little bit off.

You know how I talk to you guys about parts all the time. So you know, I tell you, guys,

when you're buying parts for your car, rather you can do your own work, or even if you're taking it to an auto garage, find out kind of like what parts are going on a car. We've had that conversation

a lot because there's you know, really truly there is good, better, best and everything. Like you I just saw him use

my uncle as an example. So my uncle I saw

him post online and he was complaining about a part that he went to go buy from the parts store, and it was like one hundred and fifty dollars at the part store. And he's like, I found the same

part online for fifty dollars. And my response to him

was is it apples for Apples? Because that's important to know.

Like he thinks that the part store was trying to take advantage of him, and he may be right, I don't know. All I asked was is it apples for

app Is it the same manufacturer, same part of supplier?

Speaker 3: Is it platinum or is it premium? And you know,

I mean, I just want to know.

Speaker 2: I no, I mean, and I get it. You know,

the biggest thing that automotive garages fight, especially in this new world, right, is the guy who does go do his research, and he should do his research, but he does his research right to the point just to try to prove you wrong, but hasn't done any real research, right.

You know, he's like, oh, I found the part online and it's one hundred dollars less than what you than what you're trying to charge me. Okay, well you're right,

but you're also buying it from somebody that you know nothing about. Is it Apples for app or same manufacture,

same supplier? What is it? That's always my first question everybody.

And this has nothing to do with with my uncle.

It just falls into the conversation this week. So that's

the first thing to check. And on top of that,

you just don't know. I can't tell you, guys, how

many times over the years I've had customers go, I want to you know, you told me it's two hundred and thirty six dollars for the old and I found the alternator online for seventy dollars. I just want to

buy an online? How do you guys install it? As

much as we used to always hate doing that, you're trying to please the customer, and you're like, okay, fine, like just get it here whatever, and they bring it to me and I look at it and I'm like, what is see move factory right right, right, right right.

But it's worse than that. I literally would look at

alternators that somebody has taken spray paint and spray painted the alternator and it's new and it looks nice and new, and then they put it's in some weird like car It's not even like a real cardboard box. It's like

those carbo boxes you buy if you're like gonna have ano on learning business to ship things, and it's sitting in that and it's such a in a customer doesn't know any better, but it's such a bad job that the copper inside of it is sprayed the same silver as they sprayed the alternator, so you can't even see the copper because it's just spray painted silver, and you know it's not supposed to you should be able to see the copper inside of it. And they're like, see,

I got it. I'm like, you know, they went to

a junkyard and got that part for thirty dollars and then sold it to that man for seventy dollars, made a forty dollars profit, plus him made him pay shipping for it, and he thinks he got a deal. And

this happens over and over again. So there's a transmission

company and I'm not going to say their name, but they're an online transmission company that I have had the pleasure and I mean pleasure just to know what I'm dealing with to open up their transmission. Several times they've

sold a new transmission new and customer gets it it doesn't work right. Customer has the option to ship it

back at his expense, by the way, to let them look at it to find out if they deem that their product is bad, that's red flag number one.

Speaker 4: Guys, they're judge and here right exactly.

Speaker 2: And the customer has opted not to do that. And

then bring had brought into us and was like, can you just open it up and tell me what's going on?

And we open it up and there is not new parts inside that transmission. Now it has a very nice, bright,

shiny pain job on it. It looks really really nice.

And it comes from an online company that people do business with. And I know because I've seen a lot

of them and not everything and it's new, and you go.

Speaker 3: What's the difference between four and well, these transmissions this particular company, they're not cheap.

Speaker 2: They're not a cheap company. They're not the most expensive

out there, but they're not a cheap company. But you

can see where I mean. They didn't get what they

thought they were paying for, you know what I mean.

And the warranty is not always the longest and or best warranty. On top of that, they control the warranty.

Like I said, like you have to send it to them to tell them that they think that they're going to cover it. That is the worst warranty plan ever

open up and go, yeah, we can't find anything wrong that's on our fault. Sorry, would you like me? Would

would you like me to ship it back to you? Right? No, no,

because they have warranties, but they might as well be sold as is. So it's one of those things where

you really kind of had to like do your research.

But even as you're doing your research, like I've tried, I spent a lot of years before I retire trying to explain to people that yes, you can buy this something cheaper online, but who are you buying it from?

You know nothing about them. I can make like I said,

I've told you guys thoughts that I can make myself look like whatever I want with great online skills. I

can go get a stock photo of a warehouse and I can put it on my website because I paid for the rights to use that picture, and you think that's my warehouse, But really I'm building things out of my garage and you wouldn't know any different because I just made a really nice website and I'm sending things and this happens. I had a customer years ago that

did buy a transmission a lot of transfers for a car got in. Didn't work, okay, just didn't work from

the get go. It was just he's like, well what

do I do. I'm like, well, the best thing I

can do is I can take it down and open it up and take a look inside it and maybe it's just something simple. And we opened it up. That

thing came straight from the junkyard. Someone went to the

junkyard painted it just shipped to that guy and it was a transmission. And I want to say he paid

seventeen eighteen hundred dollars for I mean, it wasn't a little money. Now here's the thing. There's no protection on

the internet. I told you guys this before. There's nothing

that govers on the internet that govers on sales like that.

Because what happens is if you decide to give the company a hard time, you start bad mouth, all they have to do is they'll just change their name and then just open back up for business and keep on doing business. And what they'll do is they'll go in

and redirect their old website to go to the new name and that and that's it. I mean, it's just

and you were looking for the deal, right right, and you were looking for the deal to pay for comfort.

You pay for brick and mortar. Okay, I hate to

say that, but you do. You pay for the fact

that if you don't buy it online and you pay somebody in town to do it, that when there's a problem, you have a place to go to with your problem, right, And maybe that doesn't even always work. A lot of

times you may have to go to quarter whatever depends on who you're doing.

Speaker 3: Sometimes it does work. They you know, sometimes if you

like look up the manufacturers and say, hey, where are they getting their parts from?

Speaker 2: And then you try and move down that try I know you done that.

Speaker 3: You've got to do a lot.

Speaker 2: I told you guys so years ago.

Speaker 3: They changed their part numbers.

Speaker 2: Years ago. I was trying to solve the CBT problem.

You guys know, if you if you have a CVT transmission in your car, I'm sorry, but if you've had everyplace when you know you can't really buy parts for a CBT transmiss she has replaced the whole transmission. And

we were trying to solve that problem, and we did temporarily, but it got to the point where it just didn't make any sense money wise. I had found a company

that would sell me some of the parts that was coming out of Japan, so I had to wait, but I had to bube in bulk and I had haven't shipped into me. And then I found a company that

could machine and make the other part that I needed that was making this this particular CVT was in a Honda making it fail. So I was able to put

the Honda CBTs back together. But by the time I

broke the price down and we finally got it all set up and got it done right, and I can shift this in from Japan, Japan was making me buy like fifty pieces at a time, right, that's the only way I could get them buy fifty And it's like, am I going to see fifty of this exact CBT, which then be kinds comes a problem the first time when you have fit They said, it was so. And

then if the company I found that can machine the parts, when we make the part that was failing and get it right, and we tried it to make sure it worked, and it did work, but the cost factor of it it was it got to the point where CBT prices on transmission started to come down and it was cheaper just to buy the whole transmission so people got smart with it. But you know, you try to explain that

to people, You're always trying to get around it. But

the whole junkyard bait and switch thing is huge right now, especially into today's economy and things that are messed up and people are looking for a deal. People are just

going to the Junkyard, taking the piece off the car, painting it and put it in a box and send it to you. And you maybe you know, when you

open on the box, you go, oh, I got scanned.

But a lot of people don't. They have no clue.

They don't till it goes on the car, and maybe it works and maybe it doesn't, and it's just and if there is a problem, you're not getting your money back.

They're just gonna mean. And people go, I don't buy

from places like that. I buy from uh, you know,

parts dot com. They're a legitimate business. I'm like, I'm

not talking about that. When you're looking for these certain

partsies that are hard to find.

Speaker 4: We've all done it, Like you know, when I'm a BMW, I bought this sive years because I couldn't find my sive years because you know, it's it's just kind of hard to find, like small parts like that. Absolutely, you're

just kind of taking a gamble. I mean, you are

looking for that deal on that thing, so he kind of is a little gambles. I did it and they

came in perfect color match. But it's just a gamble.

You know, you're looking for a really good deal. You know,

you're just kind of going off photos. It's not always

a guarantee.

Speaker 2: So I'll give you a perfect example just recently, as somebody I talked to and they were they were looking for a computer for a car. Nobody has it. Dealership

doesn't have it. They don't make it anymore, and they

have had like three cent to them. And I wish

I would have known that before because I would have told him, don't get anything online, because if it's online and somebody has one online, it's it's a bad one.

I'll guarantee. If if the dealership doesn't have they're out

of stock on them. They're not making them anymore. And

aftermarket as a national back order format. And you get

online and there's some guy that says I got one, Yeah, he's probably got it, and it's bad that came out of his car. He's gonna out there's a hard dollars,

which is just what happened. Back computer bought it for

seven hundred dollars and it's still a back computer. It's

just a back computer out of a car.

Speaker 3: People out there that will and it's bad to say it, but there are people out there that are just trying to scam you, you know, so they know they know the back ordered parts, you know, and they'll create a hole.

Speaker 2: They'll go to the junk yard, and the junk yard.

Speaker 3: Or not even that. Sometimes they won't even like ship

you the part.

Speaker 2: Sometimes they yeah, you think you're getting that part and you open it up and it's a bag of rice and you thought you were getting the computer, and there's nothing you can do, you know.

Speaker 3: Or they won't even ship anything.

Speaker 2: You know.

Speaker 3: It's just there's people out there that do it. Not

everything that says thirty day returns me thirty.

Speaker 2: The moral story, guys is like I told you guys a thousand times, do your research because I'm getting more stories like this as the communy. If you don't think

the commy is bad, I don't know. I don't know

how to help you with that.

Speaker 2: Like that. Just do your research, so you don't get scammed.

Speaker 2: So you know that a lot of times listening to this show, I sometimes start with a rant. I decided

to do it a little different this time and decide to end this show with a rant for the last episode.

So if you've been following along as the boys just remind me. We sure have talked about this topic a lot,

it seems like. But there's a reason for talking about

because it's passionate. I'm passionate about it. I'm always for

learning this, something to.

Speaker 3: Burn the truck, always for.

Speaker 2: Learning something new, and if somebody could show me something new, I'd be great on it. If you don't what I'm

talking about and it talks about the truck, you're right, it's all about the truck. So my truck I've been chasing.

If you've been listening to show a break problem, I have a break that just keeps on squealing. It's it's

it squeals to the point where I think I told you guys episodes ago. I got fed up and I

took everything off the truck and I threw it in the trash and I put new brakes on it.

Speaker 3: Okay again, is it gold platinum?

Speaker 2: It is the premium break since premium and I'm buying junk.

Speaker 4: Are you in the same brand though, I'm not so.

Speaker 2: That's what I did, so I traded up okay, and I went to a different brand. I threw everything away,

went to a completely different manufacturer, put the brakes on the truck and it's quiet, and then within I don't know, this time was probably this time was less than the time before the time before. I think I went like

two weeks and the break starts squealing again. This time

two days and the break starts squealing. So I decided,

and I consider myself to be a pretty very decent technician, mechanic, whatever you want to call me. You know, it's breaks, guys.

There is not completely complicated.

Speaker 3: It's just breaks.

Speaker 2: So I decided to be hands off this time and I let somebody else do the breaks, take them apart, look at everything, and they looked at everything I did.

This said, I can't find anything wrong. And they're like, man,

you really like Anti C's because I like to grease all my pins down and all that kind of stuff.

I told you, guys, I believe it's doing a real breakdown.

So I was taught all the bolts, get grease, to pull the slides out. Everything's clean. That's just how I

was taught how to do a break shop. So everybody's like, wait,

you sure you didn't get too much like Anti Maybe you got Anti Ce's on something you weren't supposed to maybe that's right. I don't know. Everybody's give me things,

and I said, look look over everything. I don't I

don't even want touch it. I'm not gonna put my

hands on. I want to be involved with it because

it's driving me nuts. The brakes are squealing and I

can't figure it out. So they looked over everything and

couldn't find anything wrong. So they take it, and they

took everything apart, so we trade everything out, put it back to the leadership.

Speaker 3: Take a look at this.

Speaker 2: I had a dealership look at it, so it's been at the dealership for a break squeal. They told me

they saw the problem that was probably what you're probably two years ago when they looked at it and they went through it, and it was I think it was gone like two weeks after they did it, and then it came back. So moving forward this time, like I said,

I didn't touch it. I took my hands off, and

I'm like, okay, I'm not gonna do it. I'm gonna

mess with it. I've already put a set on, took

a set off through it in the trash, and I mean completely through everything in the trash guys, and started from scratch again because that's how analim about. That's how much.

Just drive me nuts. And yes, we're talking four hundred

and five hundred dollars in parts that went right in the trash.

Speaker 4: After you checked the caliber, I was to make sure the caliber is like sea still.

Speaker 2: Slowly I checked the caliber. It's got two new calibers

on it. Because I put my hand on one of

the wheels and it felt like one of the wheels a little warm to me. It wasn't hot, but one

the wheels were warm. And that was two times ago.

So I took caliber off and through the caliber in the trash and put a new caliber on.

Speaker 3: But if it's only happening every two days or then sometimes then you can get it down to like a week sometimes, you know, have you ever thought maybe it's the toe arm or maybe it's warned the camber?

Speaker 2: So I did, and so I took it over for funny you said that. So I took it for an alignment,

and I was told he'll hium was great. Now move forward,

move forward, because what did I just put on the truck?

Speaker 3: Brand new tires?

Speaker 2: That's tires. I had a tire that prematurely weared on

the right hand side. That was one of the breaks

that was squealing a little while back. It's not the

one squaling right the second, but it completely wore that tire.

I took it to the alignment shop before that tire wore, and I told the line was good. I've taken it

back to the alignment shop and alignment shots to tell me the alignment's good because I was like, well, maybe something's miscliined.

Speaker 3: And I understand, but and no hate on alignment shops. Right,

they are aligning it, but they are only aligning the car.

Speaker 2: No, I'm not doing ago, we're doing a complete alignment.

Speaker 3: They're only doing an alignment when the car is sitting.

They're never doing an alignment when the tires are No, so what if your shocks are bent? You know, like

I'm thinking shocks are bent? Maybe, like but something that.

Speaker 2: It shouldn't apply to the brakes.

Speaker 3: If it's only happening for every two days or two a week, I think it's you.

Speaker 2: Know, Cameron's my kid. Let me tell you how I

know you're my kids. So it's like because I literally

said today, let me just order brand it struts in the front shocks of aas. I'll just order new struts

for the front of new shocks in the back and put those on and just see if that's causing something that it's got at the wrong angle or something like.

Speaker 3: Your kid, because you worry. When I got in your truck,

I came back and said, hey, you know you got a problem in the back, and you're like.

Speaker 2: I'm not the only one. It's it's just one of

those things. I said, it's it's driving me nuts, guys.

And for the fact, it's really hard for me to like concede because you know, I guess I consider myself to be a pretty pretty good car person. It's been

a lot of money they've been chasing on it, but for this, it keep coming back for the squeel to keep.

Speaker 3: Let me ask you, right, I'm going to bring it back to a throwback, right, just a couple of secments ago.

So if you paid so much money, would you assume them?

Speaker 4: No?

Speaker 2: But I tell you what I did do. So on

this last set, I enacted at my warranty and said, send me another set of pads, like maybe there's something wrong with a pad or whatever. Even though I know

I've been chasing the squeel, I'm like, the pad is obviously it's squealing. And then somebody was like, well, maybe

uh it's your the break kit that goes with it.

Maybe it's a bad break kit. So I hadn't changed

the I changed the break kit the first time. I

hadn't changed it this time. I did take it, have

them take it off. They greased everything up and reset

it back on there. Like I said, we went, you're

sing a different rotor or something. I got rotors. I

just went with the Pretium rotors, but the ones we threw away last time squealed. It's got a different set

on it now and it's still making a break squeal.

And it is. It is annoying, Like when I get

ready to come to like a stop light, you hear it.

It's like, and if I try to creep forward at a stop light when I went to light, you know you're waiting at traffic, you'll hear it squeak. Like I's like,

so that's what me spring going. That's what made me

think it was like a break hardware kit or something like that, because I'm like, I'm not even really going all that fast, but you can hear it squeak. I'm thinking,

be like something's touching but I would there's nowhere on anything.

Like I said, I kept my hands off this time.

I washed from Afar, but I kept on walking away from the vehicle because I knew. I know myself. I

feel like I always got to jump in, and I didn't want to do that. I just want somebody to

assess it and look at it and go through it without me to have my hands on it. But like

I said, and I was happy because I got in it it was quiet. I was like, oh my, my

goodness is quiet. It's been two days. It's back to

squealing again. And I look, if you guys got a solution,

because it's got me missed thinking.

Speaker 3: Like you're resetting it and then like after you put like the shifts or something again waiting, it shifts, you know, and it's like maybe because think about it. You put

it up in the air, stranger things happen steady, you know, the tire's not really moving. You reset it where it

looks perfect and everything. Then you put it on the

ground and you start moving again and you hit that one bump and it shifts.

Speaker 2: And I even tried break quiet and I hadn't used break Quiet in years. If you guys never.

Speaker 3: Used it quiet.

Speaker 2: That's the air saft sprays put on it. And it's

supposed to keep the path from round.

Speaker 3: Got you.

Speaker 2: I used to use it years ago, like if I had like a customer used to come in and I had one padace make a noise, put a break awiet and never see the car again. It go by by

and it works. And that didn't even work. I even

tried to, let's soften up the pad a little bit, trick.

You guys know that one too. Maybe the pad is

a little too hard. You put a little chemical on itself.

Is up the pad? That didn't work. I have tried

everything through all the stages of all the tricks, and it still squeaks. And I just like I said, and

it doesn't squeak like you take it all apart, everything put together, and it might be quiet for two days, It might be quiet for a week and then all of a sudden starts squeaking again.

Speaker 3: To fix it.

Speaker 2: Local shops, Like I said, it's it frustrates me because I and the and then the boys will tell you they worked on cards with me enough to know that if I can't figure it out, I become extremely like really passionate about something and frustrated by it because I just want to figure it out and know if there's to want that knowledge, to be able to know. Okay,

if I run to this again, this is what it is.

And guys, that's probably the only reason why I've spent so bunch of money Chason, trying to figure it out, because I just want to know what it is. And

I'm with you. My next thing is throw a set

of struts on the front, set of shocks on the back, and just see maybe if there's something that's just I don't know, maybe a little weight distribution on one side or something that's causing it.

Speaker 3: I think, I mean, I really do think that you're probably resetting it back to regular position. And then right

when you get on the road, it's perfect, and then you hit that one bump in the spring part. Well

here's the thing again, and then which explain.

Speaker 2: And hold on, I don't want to cut through you, but I still don't have an explanation with having saying I have a great alignment and at one tire wearing like that. So oddly when I'm told the line is

great on which tells me that maybe it is shock related, something's extra weight or something going on that is just out but you can't see. I I have climbed all

over this truck. I've looked at all the suspension parts

and look everything. There's there's nothing that indicates where wheel bearings.

I've checked that. I know somebody sent me that earlier.

There they're like, oh, you know your truck problem. You

know there was last time out. They were like, huh,

check all your mounts. Yeah, I've checked. I've checked the mounts.

I don't see. I don't I just there's nothing that

stands out to me that tells me what the problem is.

If you guys have a Chevy truck, you running this problem, hey, send send me the information on how you solved it, because it's got to be something.

Speaker 3: I shock some springs.

Speaker 2: Man, that's gonna be the next thing. But that's you know,

it's not like that's cheap, so it's like it's not.

Speaker 3: But at the same time, by the way.

Speaker 2: You'll know, I don't even have one hundred thousand miles on my truck yet. So just just so y'all know,

it's not like it's because of age that truck's still got baby miles. I just turned eighty thousand miles on Chevy.

Speaker 3: Where are you at man?

Speaker 2: But like I said, it is if you can't sell it is definitely driving me nuts. I hope we can

get to the bottom of it. If you guys didn't see,

and I've been telling you guys about it, bad Am update.

The transmission is built for the bad am so we now have that done. This is another additional if we

can just get our break problem solved on the tree, we need to break problem solve on trans and we'll be a whole lot further. So, you guys stay tuned up.
