coming to you straight from the car connection workshop where we mix a little humor, a little
know-how, and a whole lot of horsepower. Here, it's not just about fixing cars, it's about
keeping you rolling, saving you money, and giving you the confidence to understand what's
under that hood. From the classics to the commuters, the weird noises to the what the heck
moments, we've got you covered. So grab your morning coffee if you're sliding through the
drive-through, double-check your order, lock that cup down in your cup holder, keep your eyes on
the road and watch out for the other guys. Sit back and join the crew here because this is
car connection. Your Monday through Saturday morning pit stop for stories, smarts, a few good
laughs, and yes, I'm now Motormouth Jenkins, and we're shifting into drive right here in the
car connection workshop. So hang on, babies. Motormouth's here to help you save money. Four
decades is an automotive service tech. 31 years with our live call-in automotive program called
Car Connection on a number of different radio networks. We're off radio and into the next gen
of Car Connection 2.0. Yeah, podcasts, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, iHeart radio, and all the
podcasting platforms. So wherever you pull your podcast from, just type in the search bar,
Car Connection Workshop, bam, we're right there. We're on Spotify, Amazon, Apple, and the whole
plethora of podcast networks. And I really appreciate what they're doing out there is helping
us to help Norman eat. Gotta get this right. Norman eats watermelon sandwiches. Yeah, that's
the compass. North, south, east, and west. Did you know that? Norman eats watermelon
sandwiches. So podcasting gets us out there and helps Norman to eat those watermelon sandwiches
and reach north, south, east, and west, and nobody's excluded. So be sure to share us with all
your family, friends, your groupies, your peeps, and the best tool, the biggest tool that we have
in our Car Connection toolbox is that everything we talk about lives at our website. It's the biggest
drawer we have created in our Car Connection toolbox for everyone to connect at any time.
So on the home page of our website, which we've had websites for 31 years,
and this one just got a facelift and we're still adding some stuff to it.
Right hand, upper right hand corner of our home page will give you all the links to our YouTube,
Facebook, Instagram, Stevensville on the web. You just have to click on the business tab
to pull up our profile. And there is also an email, what do they call it? You can email me
from there, from that profile page. Exactly. You can also do that from our Car Connection
businessnetwork.com homepage ccbusnet.com. The iHeart link is there to grab our podcast. We're
working on getting all the podcasts that we have up right now in our iHeart radio library.
This is episode series one, episode 54 in less than seven weeks. So we're here for you every
weekday except for Sunday. Okay, so Sunday's family day, Monday through Saturday, we're here,
motor miles here for you, 8am morning drive. So welcome aboard it this is your first time.
So again, the home page on our website ccbusnet.com that's just short for Car Connection business
network. All the logos are there for all our program partners and sponsors. Click on their logo
and meet and greet them. And you're going to meet some amazing dedicated professionals in their
specific profession. They've been a part of Car Connection for many years and we love them the
pieces because they have stuck with us through thick and thin. And we're blessed totally to have
them with us. So our merch store is also available to you on our home page as well. Top right hand
corner, safely go into our merch store. We just added six items. Make sure you get your very
first. I'm waiting for mine to show up as well. Skippy and I, my videographer are very first
official Car Connection coffee mug. I'm so excited about that. It's the starting point because coffee
is what we run on here in the Car Connection workshop. We run on coffee. How many are with me
on that? Yeah, not decaf. We're not this and all you decaf and a lot of people it's okay. Whatever
your morning beverages, welcome aboard. And you know what? Before I forget,
I did forget yesterday for us to have a swiggy together. I know, I know I just get going at
210 miles an hour and it's a freak show in my head. It really is. I can put you in there for 30
seconds. Therapy treatments, you would not be able to buy enough. Yeah, to get it all organized.
My brain is kind of like a Jack Russell terrier in a bouncy house full of plastic balls. Ever
seen one of those? Yeah, which one do you get first? I don't know. It's an IDK moment. All right,
so let me finish my comment on our merch store, how important that is. Because the whole vision
for us to come off a radio after 31 years, and I have had this vision for about the last two
years and I've just finally answered the call. And one of my closest friends said to me, you've been
nudged for quite a while. You've been getting nudged for quite a while, motormouth. Skies the
limit. No more circles of people. You know, just remember, Norman eats watermelon sandwiches
north, south, east and west, not just little circles, which I've been used to with radio
networks. Only, you know, we have this many people in this first circle and this many people. Yeah,
but that doesn't mean they're going to be listening all the time podcast. What's great about it is
you can download, upload, sideload, whatever you want, and wherever you want, when you want,
and listen and re-listen and listen and re-listen. So our webmasters are looking to take everything
from our iHeart library, all the podcasts and jam them into an area on our website at ccbusnet
called our archives. We've always archived our broadcasts. Those are all in a terabyte
hard drive. So now we've got room and space to hold those in. But if you miss a podcast,
just look us up. Car Connection Workshop on iHeart. Go into our library and take what you need,
listen, re-listen, share it, use it, whatever. You have my permission because the whole idea
and vision of what we're doing is, is to serve the people, widows, orphans, single moms,
seniors, those who have just fallen on hard times and they got to keep the car going to get to work,
just try and stay ahead of the debt curve. That's what we're here for. Our whole vision is to get
monetized everywhere we can so that we can help people and we have the workshop, we have the tools,
we have the knowledge, we have the cameras and we can teach you at the same time, fix your cars
and pay for the parts. Yeah, I don't need another project car. I'm pulling them out from wherever
I've stored them, putting them together and the whole purse behind those. We have a number of them
we've set aside to get in all the car shows throughout the summer and do fundraising because
now car shows are vehicle specific so if we don't have the brand, we can't get in. But we have the
tools we need now and they've been, I refurbished them over 31 years. We have the tools so we can go
to any car show and this year we may have a team in 2026 going out. We got a team going to this one
and that one and this one and that one because we've always just been able to say well you know
there's three car shows on one Saturday. I'm only one person so lots of things going on that you
can be a part of but most of all by helping us and pushing us forward to get monetized it means
that I have a couple of muscle cars that some fellas I know want to jump in with us. We're
and the first one's going to be 86 it's 84 or 86 Monte Carlo true Monte Carlo SS
and it only has like 60,000 K. We're going to do a survivor vehicle on that where all the
mechanicals are done all the interiors all up to date looking gorgeous and the vehicle drives
like brand new but you get to see it as I found it and that would be our first muscle car raffle
where you can buy a ticket to win it and proceeds from the vehicle go to a local charity a local
charity in our own backyard. We take out what we put into the car from tickets sold and the balance
gets divided between three facilities organizations in our own backyard that need the support because
they don't get any they don't take any government support so they have to get their own so that's
our vision for not only all the platforms we're involved on but also here on podcast is that
I'm here to help you save money and car repairs get you up and running you can keep that older car
let me tell you I have the newest I have is an 07 that's it oh hang on I lied the Nissan road
is a 08 and that was donated to us and to help us to save gas money and so that we can do more so we
can do more and that was so so cool the timing was perfect was perfect that in closing out a
radio broadcast jumping onto podcasting and and putting the loud pedal right to the mat and holding
it there that Nissan road was such has been such a blessing because it and I know they have problems
so I've already studied that already so I know you know what I can keep that thing going as long
as we need it when we're done with it I will donate it to someone else I will push push it on and I've
done that in the past when we had our shop on the Hamilton mountain learned of a family that well
we were a customer and a car their last car blew up they didn't have something and you know what you
gotta answer the call and I gave I gave them a really nice car and I don't say that to pat myself
on the back is we have to learn how to pay it forward because we can only be one of two people
a giver or a taker you can't stand in both arenas my professor said so let's have a cup of coffee
together whatever morning beverage then I want to say I bring it back into speed with who our program
partners are because when you give them your business it helps us to do our business so
that we can do business and help others and help for free so again when you buy merchandise through
our car connection merch store thank you to freedom expressions which is uh one of their
businesses on the campus at total freedom they put our store together they have a merch store there
that they create hoodies all that stuff jackets beanies t-shirts and they have been absolutely
amazing to us a super duper powerhouse blessing and we really appreciate that so they put our
store together they monitor it when you buy something proceeds go to help someone who's
suffering with addictions to get total freed total freedom Darien Center New York that's a campus
that's for men and women it's open to canadian and us residents total freedom uh Sydney Manitoba
with rick and robin i'll tell you they have a story to tell they know all about addictions
husband and wife team that is a men only campus so when you purchase merch it's not going in our
pockets it's going in the pockets of total freedom to help those who can't afford to get there
but they're ready they're ready to deal with their addiction that's where we all come in
helping one another so when you do that you can purchase what you want pick the colors pick the
size pay for it safely online the order goes into freedom expressions they put the order together
it's custom made right there in their facility on the campus and it shipped out to you directly
and why do they have businesses developed on the campus that is one of the stages to help those
who are going through addictions to get back into the workforce to learn to get up go to work
with consistency because you have a job to do and they get paid that money goes into an account
where they can't get there they can get their hands on it but they have to ask and they have to tell
what it is that they want to purchase so they have it all covered so on the campus they're self
contained they get the the men and the ladies all age groups back into the workforce teaching them
how to make their own money how to have a bank account how to be responsible for paying rent
and paying their bills and food and taking care of themselves so everything is covered from the
time of intake all the way to getting them ready to go back into the world that's what happens when
you buy some merch on our homepage so it's not a commercial it's not a big thing for me at all
whatsoever but what is huge is help us with our vision in q1 our goal is the first quarter of
2026 that we are monetized from every direction possible and thank you to my videographer
super staff who's donating her time and her talents to shoot the videos help me edit them
and get them up on our youtube channel she takes care of our facebook reels instagram reels and she
just put a new one up this morning i think it's kind of funny but she's very intuitive and very
creative and donating her time so i want to be able to also she's a single mom stuff some money in
her pockets too right that's what it's all about is when it's not all about you and your eyes are
on someone else watch what happens to you world to your world watch what happens to your very own
world things start to change all right if you're visiting us the first time uh let's have a swingy
together i forgot to do it yesterday morning my bad so on three two one we raise a cup and it's
kind of like you're right here with me in the car connection workshop enjoying our morning drive
together now don't spill it on yourself or anything like that don't do a childish trick
like i do three two one you know i'm still drinking instant coffee reminds me of college days
because i'm not willing to pay the price for perked coffee i like perked coffee and the price
of coffee is like uh no i won't do that i take a thermos on the road with me when i'm out on the road
a because i like my own coffee b i don't want to spend money on buying a coffee when i could use
those monies to buy parts keep somebody's car going that's what it is all about for me
mm yep you know money is one of those things you kind of it ranks up there with oxygen you

and their talents to change lives one at a time especially in the times when community support
is crucial crystal ridge dream center shines as a beacon of compassion and transformation

if you join up for the fuel 30 day fuel savings challenge that's what's waiting for you
trust me at the very least you're going to put quite a bit of money you'll be shocked you'll
be shocked how much you've cost yourself but you'll be delighted in knowing that you got
a raise you gave yourself a raise how many of you're going to get it your boss going to come
to you and say hey we're feeling good in this brand new year we're going to up your salary to
two thousand dollars this year is it going to happen not likely yeah i've signed up for that
deal as well i worked in the corporate world where it was i was part of the high volume wholesale
program yeah that's called salary you work lots you got lots of responsibility but you can't
make any decisions but you're working for pittance yeah pittance and i'll never forget the night i
was running off my at the very end of the day i i worked 90 minutes one way from where i was
stationed with a large uh automobile european automobile manufacturer
and everyone else's would be gone and i have to run my reports at the end of the day make
sure they're on the big cheeses desk by nine o'clock for the next morning
and i i don't know what brought it to me i put some fresh coffee on and the tv was in the showroom
and i just thought well they're printing i'm just gonna take a break and i was always had a notepad
and a pen to doodle with i'm going how much am i actually making here yeah i was responsible for
27 adult children uh they were fabulous to work with we were a great family but anyways long story
short i'm doodling and i'm going who is the who is the cheapest employee to pay here where i'm
stationed at and uh skippy our lot boy was the cheapest so now i'm calculating out the 80 plus
hours that i work they have me working a week on like i said the high volume wholesale program
lots of hours little pay at the end of the day so i work out skippies like making 22 bucks an hour
i'm going wow that's pretty decent yeah uh then i scribble out my hours and how much they're paying
me per week six dollars and 84 cents an hour was what i was making i sat there and i scribbled
it every way from sunday i go is that that can't be right that can't be right and i go it is right
man it really sucks to be me i'm going skippy's making like 22 and change i'm doing six dollars
and 84 cents an hour and i remember screaming this out in the building going i'd have to be an absolute
idiot to do this for six dollars and 84 cents an hour anyways just something to laugh about tell
you a little bit about myself let's get to business i can hear somebody saying just get down to business
well the whole idea of car connect to workshop is to get to know each other a little bit more
and a little bit more and a little bit more because i want you to trust me i am an honest guy i work
hard and uh you know what i love people i i love everyone but i wait for no one that's kind of my
personality if somebody can't get something done for me i'll just jump in and get it done
yeah and remember busy people get things done all right so uh today's topic let's crank it out now
break systems 101 how to know your due for a break service and listen up babies because this one
just this past summer if you go into our youtube channel you will see
quite a number of break jobs being done on video and explaining what's happened why it's happened
and why this is costing uh people big money is because you're not listening you're not listening
so before we get started take the uh index finger of your right hand because your left hand might be
on the steering wheel and stick it in your ear now listen because what i'm about to tell you
is going to save you not hundreds of dollars thousands of dollars in expensive break repairs
because the whole deal was this yeah you know you can drive a car until absolutely everything
starts to fall apart but i gotta tell you that's the stupidest thing i've ever seen in my entire life
because even if you say well it's just an old car it's not worth much
yes it is is it paid for yeah does it run and drive yeah is it falling apart
structure wise no it's actually in pretty good shape
then you've got something that somebody else doesn't have
that's right there's families out there you know what that car that you think is a piece of junk
and it's not worth spending money on is a bar of gold to another family that can barely put food on
the table this i know because i would end up with those vehicles off my clients on the Hamilton
mountain and i've said this before i called them my $500 beauty because if the family
wanted to just give it to me i would donate 500 bucks to a local charity they insisted on taking
nothing for it i'd say this is what i'm going to do and then i'd get a receipt show them that's
where i put your money that i wanted you to have and then i take the thing apart inside out clean
the full inside and detail it do all the mechanicals wash it wax it bring it back to life and then
the clients would say is that that's not our car i go yeah that's your that was your car yeah
oh my gosh it's like brand new i said yeah now it needs to go to another caregiving
so i'm not going to get into that story that's for another time
sometimes i keep one for myself and then people would like i want that car motor mouth for my
daughter that that car's got to go to my daughter i let me buy it and so i go okay so i'd sell it
and find you know i got another one on the go and i never kept it for more kept one for myself
more than 30 days and ended up selling it off one of my favorite ones was ronda ronda was a
malibu station wagon i really liked that car ronda was named by a client that i i had at the time
and they gave me the car they were getting something else they gave me ronda and i cleaned ronda up
and i didn't even have it two weeks and then my co-worker work for me jimbo he says i know this
lady she's a single mom her car just got totaled she's got no money i gave up ronda yep i really
liked that car it was really good it had mega mileage on it but the engine was strong car was
well loved and taken care of it was just time they moved it on and bought something off so
but i say all that to say it was well taken care of ronda got whatever she needed to keep that
car healthy yeah and uh kathy that's right kathy and jim it was kathy's car right from the get go
and she named it ronda she looked after everything on that car whatever it needed whatever when it was
in for service whatever uh we found on service she took care of it and that's the same with the 99
honda civic dx that i got from one owner listened to car connection for 26 years and followed the
maintenance that i shared on the air religiously and that's why that car has 310 000 kilometers
and still looks like brand new and i have really taken care of it i'm the next caregiver and i
have really taken care of it to be a good solid caregiver so when i say brakes we don't run the
car until there's nothing left to the brakes because the mindset of well i'm gonna get every
penny out of those brakes after you've you've paid to have them done before this is what i hear
and i've heard for since 1996 i've been licensed tech since 1988 i've been around cars trucks and
tractors and you name it since i was 13 years old and the same mindset is still out there well
i'm just going to run those brakes right down till there's nothing left well good for you
wackadoo so now you're gonna have to get out the super big wallet yeah it's called a safe
and roll it in and unload some serious cash so way to go now you need everything in the
braking system front and back all the way around to bring that vehicle back up where it should be
brake wise because if you can't stop it steer it nothing else matters so if you jump into our youtube
channel it's nile motormouth jenkins just in case you want to know uh but the links are on our home
page at ccbusnet.com we have almost 300 videos up there now um we did so many brake jobs this past
summer and videoed them because they had although they had similarities they had their own issues
and those issues could have been avoided by having uh i like to see three brake inspections per year
and why is that it will save you the most money ever ever in stupid repairs that could have been
avoided had you been doing that doesn't mean here i can hear people already be a year
motormouth are you out of your flipping mind no no because brakes take a stinkin beating
you guys know how you drive you try to beat the next guy to the next light for whatever reason
i mean there's no white flag you know white checkered winner no how many times i can tell you
somebody goes flying past me giving me the your number one sign yeah so a little ditty there i
don't know what happened my phone decided to have some kind of seizure yeah anyways so somebody goes
flying past me gives me the your number one and then guess what i'm right behind them at the next
traffic light you guys are guys and gals are chewing up brakes like i've never seen before
in my entire career as a service pack it's crazy and then the amount of money that it takes
to get them back up so that they're working 100 for what so you can burn them off again
because you're burning brakes off in less than a year i've seen it this past summer 2025 the
number of brake jobs four-wheel brake jobs and there's nothing left to save nothing left that
means calipers pads rotors in some case the emergency brake system that's in the back on
four-wheel disc brakes and we're going to talk about that in a separate podcast because that's a
huge one that's huge folks if if your hubby's saying you don't need to use the uh the rear
emergency brakes on your four-wheel disc brake system well i'm going to blow the lid right off
that myth i'm going to blow it right out the window because that is where the big money is
big money i'll give you this one go to our youtube channel then look up the two 2008
Nissan road brakes there was nothing left of the rear brakes the emergency brakes nothing
nothing at all salvageable nothing so in order to safety that vehicle that all has to be working
totally and in some cases the rear brakes will only adjust if the emergency brake is being used
we have a 1984 Pontiac Transam in the shop call it the uh the sun chicken or fire chicken i think
it is fire chicken and we're up doing the rear brakes on that now and uh then it'll we'll do
brake lines and cables we have all that stuff in stock and i'm rebuilding the calipers the calipers
on that 1984 Transam GTA are 363 dollars a piece each times two so i'm rebuilding them myself
and we've got the videos up there i have one more caliper to do and it's the roughest ones
rougher than a stucco toilet seat and uh i got the kits online from a company that i know is
reliable for parts 29 a kit and you know we learned how to rebuild calipers when i was at
mohawk college the mvm department there great school great school man uh for for the trades
fabulous because you know what they take no junk so if you're a student that thinks you're
going to fly through there and uh you know just get a pass because think again no you're not you
either know your stuff or you don't we'll do a program on that for the kids as well because i
think automotive is way underrated it's a great i think it's greater today than it is it is in the
past because it really challenges you big time you got to know electronics you got to know computers
you got to know electricity yeah on a vehicle you got a lot that you got to know so
if you go and look at that if that that brake job front and back all the way around had to be
paid for you'd be close to three thousand dollars in parts and labor three thousand dollars and
what's the curb price on that vehicle well i looked it up 2008 nissan rogue uh same model
trade-in value nine hundred and ninety three dollars that's what it's worth curbside if you
traded it it might get a little more but with all that work to be done just on the brakes alone
yeah think about it but here's the deal if that vehicle's bought and paid for
and the vehicle's solid it's not rotting out going to leave you with the bucket seat and
the steering wheel at some point you got something that's worthy of putting the money into but then
you got to have the mindset am i going to look after it that just doesn't mean wash it and vacuum it
and that's huge folks that's huge if you won't do the little stuff you'll never do the big stuff
and that's what i look for when i'm i'm going to look for a pre-owned vehicle for somebody
they got a limited amount of money usually less than five grand there's nothing out there
under five grand that's any good that you're not going to sink the same kind of money into it
pay pay pay five for it put five into it now you got a ten thousand dollar car but again
where do you find a ten thousand dollar vehicle folks that doesn't need anything
it's that what i mean by that it's perfect from stem to stern needs absolutely nothing
good luck people ask me all the time hey i got this you know three grand to spend can you find me a car
nope nope not going to happen you got to keep your ears open family member passes somewhere
they got an older vehicle like that at 08 Nissan Rogue that was donated to us and uh
that is a huge blessing because man that thing does not yeah they have lots of problems trust me
they have rust problems they got transmission problems the list goes on and on and on but when
you know the shortcomings you can stay ahead of that curve by what taking care of making sure you
put more attention to those areas of weakness just like our human bodies right if you want
to get healthy you got to look at where's the areas of weakness your mouth and your gut your
guts controlling the mouth and the brain then you gain weight so you got to fix those areas of
weakness so when i say a four wheel all wheels off not a peekaboo not a show and tell all wheels
off it's on the lift and i'm looking at every single brake system on all four wheels i'm pulling
calipers off checking caliper pins see if the pins and bushings are still lubricated or if you're
tight but i'm not promoting running your car till you have no brakes left whatsoever another
vehicle to watch on our youtube channel 2010 dodge ram hemi four wheel drive heavy duty nothing left
to the brakes including his four wheel disc nothing left of the emergency brake system
whatsoever totally rotted off in fact on that particular vehicle go watch the video you'll
hear me talk about something i never ever want to do again but i did it to help the lady in my
neighborhood she's a very fresh and new widow her husband was a mechanic and he looked after
the vehicles and she doesn't have her fella anymore so it was through a friend of another
neighbor jen who's on her own and works her butt off and i help her with her vehicles well it's
her neighbor she called me said now could you take care of her i go absolutely send her down
let me see what's going on see what we got to do so you can watch that video again on that truck
if that had to go into the shop and it was worked on like i did to get that thing back up and have
really good solid four wheel brakes you'd be talking close to four thousand dollars in parts and
labor it'd be crazy money absolutely crazy we're talking calipers all the way around rotors pads
hardware emergency brake cables uh backing plates for the shoes the emergency brake shoes to go on
there was nothing left i had to cut off the remnants and everything at the back all the hardware all
the shoes that make up the emergency brake system rotted out just absolute j u n k junk every single
piece so to do the full system all the way around it would mean backing plates emergency
brake shoes emergency brake cables all the hold down kits every single thing like you're building
the vehicle coming off the you know going down the assembly line it would be four grand easy easy
so that's why this is this today's uh motor mouse morning drive is entitled break systems 101
because there's going to be a 201 and then a 301 today i'm just touching on the basics
if that's the mentality you have you are wasting so much money just wait till i show you
the 30 day fuel savings challenge you'll you're going to get to see how much money you're wasting
that you're working hard for and then along with brake systems 101 you're going to get to see
how much money you're wasting pull all your service records out from the last three years
and see how many times you've paid for breakwork and add it up just the breakwork that's all and
be honest if you're not keeping track of your service records we're going to talk about that
in another podcast as well how how those service records are money in the bank for you i'm going
to break it down for you because i i am a work order maniac i am a paperwork maniac that's what i
i did for some companies and got them steered around after i closed the shop was i did amazing
warranty work that made companies millions of dollars that's why they never let me have a day
off or a sick day or go on holidays because when motor miles stepped out of the building
they weren't making money when i was in the building they were making money and that was a bad
position for me to be in yeah that's what bore me out and i walked out of there one day i'd had
enough and i just said you know what i would rather go and dig a ditch with a spoon and make
five dollars an hour i'd be further ahead than what i'm doing now anyhow i'm going to wrap it
up here because we're going to you're going to have to stay tuned for break systems 2.0 we're
going to get into the nuts and bolts but i can tell you right now if you tap into our youtube
channel you are going to learn some of the basic fundamentals that will save you
thousands and thousands of dollars in needless dumb stupid badass idiotic repairs that you
are working so hard for your money and there's more month than money you can turn that around
because a lot of you are wasting so much money on needless car repairs and where you can put the
money uh to good use somewhere else or somewhere else on the vehicle and you can keep that vehicle
and be be part of our 600 000 kilometer club the 600 k club i'm well on my way with our old 7 fj
to 400 k i'm over half way over half and you know what uh hopefully my hope is that i'll own that
vehicle to the point where somebody's got to help get me in there that's how old i am and i'm still
driving my pops is uh just turned 89 in december 2025 and he's thank god he's still got all his
faculties longevity is in our family uh bloodline and pops is 89 his brother was almost 100 his sister
was 99 when she passed so i and my pops is still driving like a maniac i gotta say he got himself
this uh pre-owned lexus turbo and yeah we'll just leave it there but you know what he's enjoying it
he looks after it he keeps it clean and gets it serviced and uh you know what he can still drive
his eyesight's good he still passes the test in uh you know he keeps he's never had a Toyota ever
before in his entire life he's always been Ford or GM and then he finished off uh his last domestic car
was uh a 19 i think it was a 90 a 2009 dodge grand caravan and that was well looked after as well
but he said he said it was time to move it out so he got a Santa Fe treated that excellent
Hyundai put a brand new motor in there under warranty and uh he got his eye on this Lexus
next many he's getting rid of his Santa Fe jumps into Lexus so anyways he's 89 so my plan is with
the old seven fj i may have to carry a little uh step stool to get in there on a rope and i could
just pull that in and i'm in and just keep going so anyways just some fun stuff for you so stick around
for uh part two brake systems 2.0 how to know your due for service first of all three brake
inspections thorough inspections a year that doesn't mean i just want to finish with this that doesn't
mean wheels off we're replacing everything every time it's in there every four months
because i know the way you folks drive i don't drive like you because you know what
i don't want to spend a ton of money on brakes yeah you can beat the next guy you can beat me
to the next uh off ramp you can beat me to the next traffic light i don't care i do not care
you can honk your horn at me you can flip me the bird you can spit me in me eye and i don't care
because it's my car i'm the caregiver i know what it costs to fix it you're not learning a stupid thing
if you're driving like that yeah you're an idiot because you're working hard for your money and
you're you're pissing it out the window period you might as well just go to the toilet throw it in
and keep flushing till it's all gone yeah sometimes i get a little harsh because sometimes you know
what we need we need a good kick in the boot to get you to wake up and if you wake up and you
listen to me and you implement what i tell you i'm giving you the biggest gold nuggets that you won't
get anywhere else i'm laying the rubber on the road and saying hey listen to me listen and do
because the do does and the did is done that's the way you gotta live your life you can own
a 10 15 20 year 20 year old automobile and treat it like every day it's brand new to you watch what
happens watch what happens because it's the sales pitch it's it's the crap we are here in media
three years 60 000 k's there's no warranty whether you hit the 60 k before three years or not that's
your lifetime warranty gone down the toilet and i've told that story that is reality about someone
else who had to park their van in the garage and go and get a used car because they in the first year
they burned up their mileage and they were on a lease they had two years that vehicle sat in
the their garage and went nowhere for two years but they were paying the lease every month is that
smart smrt yeah i am so smart smrt yeah so stick around brake systems 2.0 coming up next
but you gotta sell out first the motor mouse idea three full complete brake inspections per year
that's every quarter right some people say a quarter is four months some people say a quarter
three months whatever doesn't matter three per year every four months wheels off it's infernoil
change full brake evaluation so you can stay ahead of the curve but first and foremost we need we
need to get you to drive a whole lot smarter and that's what the 30 day fuel savings challenge is
going to teach you and it's going to show you how many more dollars do you want to work hard for
how many exactly no don till dusk i know exactly what that's like to work 80 hours a week week
after week after week after week absolutely so thanks for tuning in thanks for joining us for
motor mouse morning drive this one's gone a little extra long today but it's the prerequisite to
really helping you save some serious money because that is one area on all automobiles in this past
summer let me tell you the videos we shot on brake systems totally completely destroyed
which didn't need to happen costing people thousands of dollars it would have if those the
vehicles that we recorded this past summer it was like a brake nationals another one in the shop
even skipping my videographer is going we're videoing more brakes i go yeah you wait till you see
this one even she was going oh my gosh what a freaking mess that is what's that going to cost
exactly if if that those jobs that are on our channel were retail repair jobs
we'd be talking just three vehicles alone would have been well over $1215,000
and just brake repair to get the systems back up and running because there's nothing left what do
you save there's nothing to save nothing it's a gut job what i call it's a gut job four wheel gut job
everything take it off into the scrap bin
box and boxes and boxes and boxes and parts to put it all back together for you to for you to go out
and do the same thing again does that make sense doing the same the definite i'll leave you with
the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over you want
to stop again but expecting a different outcome not going to happen not in the automotive world
i've been at it for over four decades ain't going to happen for you nope no matter what
parts you put on there whatever dude does the best brake job ever it ain't never going to change
you're always going to get what you've always got because you're always going to do
what you've always done happy motoring happy healthy motoring and we'll see you tomorrow morning
for another edition of motor mouths morning drive bye for now
About this episode
Brake systems are crucial for vehicle safety, and understanding when to service them can save you significant money. Dyle Motormouth Jenkins shares insights from over four decades in automotive service, emphasizing the importance of regular brake inspections to avoid costly repairs. He discusses common mistakes drivers make, like waiting too long to address brake issues, and shares personal stories about vehicles he's worked on. The episode also highlights the value of maintaining older cars and how proper care can extend their life. Tune in for practical advice and a few laughs along the way.
Brakes are one of the most ignored - and most expensive - systems on a vehicle when maintenance is delayed. In this episode of Motormouth Morning Drive, Nile " Motormouth" Jenkins breaks down Brake Systems 101 and teaches you how to recognize the warning signs before small issues turn into big repair bills.
You'll learn:
1) How brakes actually wear and fail
2) Early warning signs most drivers miss
3) What noises, vibrations, and pedal changes really mean
4) How proper brake service can put hundreds or even thousands of dollars back in your pocket
As my mentor used to say: " The Do Does, and the Did is done"
Listening is one thing - but taking action is what keeps you safe and saves you money.
If life is already expensive, your brakes don't need to make it worse.
