Does professional idiot. And with a voice like Barry,
White voice, they'll go in and out and then I didn't think it would suit the content to. Well, well, as I said, there's
nothing wrong with Barry White. I'm a big Barry White for him
today. Okay.
Good enough for your love. Walk after dark.
Okay. Yeah, she can we can we bring
you back off the dog Community. Uh, I'd rather not fuck.
You might start to save your voice.
It is a deeper and scurried, are how you doing mate?
I'm doing quite well. Thank you very much, mr.
David Prince, how are you? I'm very well, thank you, Matt
to you for asking very kind of you.
No worries, mr. Edward bunting.
How are you? Well, thank you very, very good.
You lost show for a while mr. Bunting, you'll be gone for a
few weeks should be back. October, the 18th for that
Tuesday, I believe. But good to see all of your
lovely faces guys. Good to be back in the studio.
Good to see mr. Allens alive.
That's a more than happy to be alone and I've got some good news to share. Okay, well, well, well we
haven't agreed in your car there's last week because we hope you had missed out. Bars on the show, but we'll get
back into some card. That's mr.
Allen we've seen as you've got some stuff to share, we'll start with you, or I'll will build up to it, I think.
Okay. Alright, so, starting with the
MX-5, especially when parked outside my place, sometime, I have been driving it around, you know, making good.
Use of. I've got it serviced.
And with a service like she made.
Sure, they did some spark plugs. They did the diff well, which I
thought need to go anywhere. And also, while though I said do
transmission oil as well, and that's dry.
Irving. Absolutely fine and nicely
appreciating that whenever I can, especially with the weather warming up a little bit that's going to be my primary means of conveyance. I think absolutely.
Especially with the Suzuki GSX for is the still, it's here, it's here, but may or may not be actually, there was a, there was a general agreement on fist pump, which is as good as a handshake in my book, Nathan may or may not be purchasing like her. Okay, yeah, so, well, he he's
he's agreed to the price. You're Gonna Keep your plates on
there. Just so just so he knows that
you're, we had a lot of that that I like he take the car with the plates, he was a very would be a bad deal for me, because I try and get the back and he'd be, you know, he'd cut the negotiating power there so I'll get them.
Replated, got brand new tires on it recently.
And, you know, it really, really did need those Ties on the alignment of the tires weren't Specifically like, you know, on their last legs. It's just age-wise.
I think there were 12 years old. Okay.
Yeah. And the alignment definitely
needed some like the moment I got out of the tire shop.
I didn't mean to put my hands on the steering wheel.
That's how true it was tracking and hasn't been around fuel fuel economy as well. So yeah, the tires were
definitely a necessary update which heavy with and like I said, I, you know, passing the car onto a friend, I definitely want the car to be in Tip-Top. Condition.
So that mean, if I buy the Falcon of you LM, it's going to be like fully gone through. Not so much, but but you will
get it out. Is I think you'll get it because
I know the condition of the car, right?
And I'll tell you what's wrong with it, and you'll get the price taken down accordingly. Okay.
It'll get there. But yes.
So what get a service road with heed?
I don't believe to be anything. The one thing that party would
have been the rule in the tires and they already taken care of.
But if there is, we'll get all that organized.
And then, Nathan will be the proud owner of a 2008 Suzuki SX4 all arrived in in, in white. Hmm, yeah.
And then it'll be his problem now.
But it's, it's one of the things I can.
Happily let it go to a friend knowing that I know there's nothing mechanically wrong with the car.
It's just not the most inspiring Drive, which for him, and the car or something. I think it's less than 90,000.
Yeah, it's barely running. Yeah.
So we agreed on a price and, you know, going to make that happen.
But obviously, I won't be selling a car unless I was getting a car. Yeah.
So here we go. So, I finally received a call, I
think it was last week, there's one of the was one of the days last week from Isuzu, essendon. Ah, okay, and they said, you
know, it has cows going on with good.
Didn't expect to be hearing from you guys anytime soon and it was the main sales manager of the dealership saying, the DMS is ready and it's on the boat. Okay, so I was like well that's
probably a better bit sad and not always being told is under construction or anything. Just It's on the boat now, which
I'll take it. Given good news is still good
news. This is, I would have expected
maybe a bit of a really cool thing.
Yours building. Now look set to be completed a
month but no, it was just it's on the boat now.
And I think the main reason why you actually called is because well I didn't give them an indication of whether we're financing it or not, which we didn't.
I don't intend on getting financed by the dealership because that's just, you know, highway robbery those rights.
So I think I was his main concern.
Making sure that I could organize a finance.
Let me tell you, I said, don't you worry?
You let us know. We'll get you a check.
We'll get you a bank transfer. All we were reluctant lie, bring
your cash. It is.
But anything over ten thousand dollars, you gotta fill out some forms. So I don't think they there to,
please don't know, but he said it should get here will last week said, two weeks and then it also would need a bit of going over by the pre-delivery team along with any The feature that we added, so the tow bar and stuff and he said well if possible would you be happy to receive it before the end of the term? And I'm like more than a dude?
Like you tell me when you need the funds, will send the funds which makes like a things easier for him but given that so far have been disappointed by Isuzu. I'm not holding my breath, you
know. Next thing I hear the boats can
capsize the something but Pirates, fart.
You can see, like, some kind of terrorist news, like some of them, at least two they do, they do an x-ray.
And I'm like, that's my car. They got like that, but yeah,
these are all goes. Well, it gets here on the
Australian, Shore safely delivered.
And you know, we hopefully well just recapping.
Let's hope the car gets in one piece, and it's pretty delivered and we can take it home. Happily, there's no parts.
Yes. So let me just let me get this
straight. You didn't get a call to sail.
We've got to feed number. We've got anything.
Now, you gotta call sights on a boat, and I want you to collect it before the end of September if possible.
Yes. If possible, from their point of
view or your point of view. Well, I guess, I think from
their point of view was more about the funds being available and then also the car being or the pre-delivery team being available. Hmm, interesting.
Interesting. It seems very sudden all of
those very quick all of a sudden.
Yeah you know there's no big lead into you know communicating because it wasn't that long ago that yeah that they had they were telling you it hadn't even been built yet.
And I'll say something about November, so maybe somebody canceled their order and I'm getting there's maybe yeah.
I think that's more likely the case.
Yeah, I'll take it. I'll take an early order because
it was built. They tell you I was built.
They told me when I was at the waiting out to get put on a ship, that's me. When I was on the ship, they
told me we help, you know, watch it was on there.
Tommy, when it arrived in Australia, they told ya.
They it was really good. Yeah, probably haven't told you,
yeah. Cool name for me.
Yes, I was actually looking up some ships online and color me surprised as a hell of a lot more than I thought they'd be especially in the Gulf of Thailand.
So I was like, I don't think I'm going to be a pinpoint, which ship is mine but his wishful thinking on my part?
So yeah I like again fingers crossed it all goes smoothly but going I'm not holding my breath. We like to use it because it is
what it is. But I also Took another
adventure to another Volvo dealership, huh?
Well, it's all because another finisher Christian, he actually wants to test drive a car to buy from self or lease and we test-drove a Kia Sportage, you discover the, what is it?
The a line I think is that they did do was talk to the radio, tell the Rangers JT, JT line. And yeah, we took that car for a
bit of a test drive and it was absolutely A stunning.
Yeah, it's a really nice. Yeah, for the price, you know
and all the bells and whistles and you know I made sure as there's a passenger is my duty press, all the buttons to make sure you know we're going through a bit of everything and he seems pretty keen on that. I think the other cars use
consider was possibly a cash card which they didn't have any and then they closed the Hyundai equivalent Tucson Tucson.
I think. Yeah.
What are the Santa Fe Santa Fe which like Come from price.
They won't suspect as well, sorry, they're not.
Yeah, so yeah. The, the sport housing is be the
winner for him. And since we had, I thought
we're going to take the whole day looking at his cars.
But since we're done very quickly, I said, well, there's a, there's a whole deals you've just down there.
So why don't we take a quick visit?
And there is good and bad news. It seems that the wait times for
the XC fully recharged have blown out significantly.
So, rather than risk being told April, or, you know, March, We'll get basically a year weight which is not a big deal to me because, you know, I'm technically not supposed to be ordering this car, but I like the discussion with this dealership and what better, what they said is the way we do it, you pay a five hundred dollar, refundable deposit simply to put yourself in the line. Once you are the front line,
you'll get a call from of all the head office to confirm that you still have to go ahead with the purchase and that's when we start building. And that's will take a further
deposit from you. So until then like until the
moment, it is fully refundable. Even at that moment, when you
get a call saying, you're first in line, it's still refundable.
So, I'm a lot happier with that deal.
It's just, you know, a normal amount of skill, my place in the line, if things don't go quite to plan in the future, let's just say year from now. Then I will let go of the deal.
Otherwise, you know, I look forward to having NXT 40 next year so the deal was done. Yes, nicely done,
congratulations well boy and cause the price And said to mr.
Elom. No, I'll just put a deposit on
cars and then waiting very long because it's my father.
Well, I mean about you, you're always buying cars with this down deep true. But mine are usually a lot
cheaper than these plants. Yeah.
Usually. But I think that's all my car.
Be very, very good. Very exciting elements.
We can have you driving. MX-5, you know?
Like that's good. Yeah.
Because it's on a full range of might as well.
Yeah. Yeah, use it.
Mr. Bunting, not takes hello. I've been driving around the
Honda City the last few days. And do you know what?
I'm almost up to a full 45 days logbook.
So, I've only got like five days to go and it doesn't expire until the 1st of December, so you can get another 45 day.
I know I'm aware of that, but I'm very tight ass on that front and I really, I think I'll just probably park it and drive something else. Yeah.
So I've been driving around the city for a bit.
It did drop the Scamp yesterday David little bit of no Monday night. I drove the scalp back on.
The freeway in love excited. Love's Love's the freeway?
Okay, I had to laugh when LM talking about 12 year old ties, you know that that car's got very altizer.
There's my mini as doesn't do a lot of my cars.
They're quite ancient a lot of them.
So, yeah, on your own. Yep, open.
You're wrong. What are we doing?
I've been really hankering down. Moke.
Resurrection. So it got to a point now where
we got to last time on this podcast but yeah when I bought it it wasn't running. It had set for 15 years so the
cooling system was chocked full of rubble.
You know the oil was golden brown because it was changed just before the car was stored but you know you want to do all that stuff. So over the last few weeks it's
had radiated out water pump out, thermostat off, brake clutch, master cylinders. Out slave cylinder out and then,
you know, various bits and pieces have to be procured.
You know, the brake master, it was sort of res.
Leave the clutch master was good, they tested that, so that's fine. The radiator was a brand new
one. The water pump was brand new
thermostat, brand new, couple of new Drive belts, and all else.
I had to secure a washer a radiator overflow bottle, which is brass, and the old one was flopping and holes and the guy said, look, I can seal it with You know, fuel tank seal, the top things you put in it, seals, it'll do that, but it was probably more costly as finding other one.
So I found one for 50 bucks and um yeah bolted that in.
So, over the last week, it's been a matter of kind of resurrecting all this. So I think it was Saturday, we
had a bit of a poke working B and then I continued that on Sunday our bow, but when it was all put back together and the radiator filled up and you crank the motor over, it was cranking Lee slowly, which is how it was before.
I got a brand new battery for I thought there's something not right? And as I was cranking it, I'm
looking over at the fan and the belts and they weren't turning.
So, the moment was turning over slowly, but none of those ancillaries that are meant to turn with the engine we're turning. So yeah.
Hang on a minute, that ain't right.
So I kind of left it for that night and was really hungry and angry and the sort of, you know, why doesn't this just work.
It's not a complex engine. Freshly eyes always good.
So came back at it with fresh eyes.
And where do you missing a belt? No.
No. The belts were on and tight and
you know, it was, it was bizarre.
So the radiator in those is so close to the fan is so close to the egg, you know. They're just they're a bastard
of an engine bay because they're so tight.
So you kind of got to start from the end and work your way back.
So we pull the radiator out again, then pull the bolts out of the fan. And once the V were added a fan
which is just a little plastic fan, you know.
Nothing crazy. Then everything was turning, you
know, the pulley was turning in the water pump was turning.
So I thought, okay, it's not the water pumps, not jammed in the block, what is going on here and it turns out that the water pump, the end of it, the design was slightly different shape to the one that was in it. And so yeah, when we've done the
fan bolts up which bolt into sort of the water pump it's had, it was hitting on the casing and not allowing it to turn.
So all I needed was a few washes on these bolts and hey, Presto everything turns like it should. So if you wash his later all
back together which is a pain in the ass, fill it with water.
Start her up. Happy Days running.
Well, beautiful and cranking over like it should nice and fast and yeah, nothing's failing anything.
So tonight after work I was very diligent, I put it up on the ramps. I drained the oil, change the
filter cleaned it all up. Put the sump guard.
And back on, put the grill back in.
So now yeah we're sort of at the tail end, it really just needs a little bit of clutch work, little bit of brake bleeding and rear wheel cylinders, and Mike should be running stopping starting doing all that stuff. Awesome.
That's exciting. Very exciting field.
It sounds good. The motors healthy.
It doesn't blow smoke at it. Sits there idling quite happily.
I put fresh fuel in it. My friend, Alex, who's been on
was very perturbed, that I was tickled running it on, whatever fuel came with 15 years ago. So I guess I'll put 5 liters of
fresh feeling it tonight and the gauge went up to like a third.
I was like, ooh, this isn't economical car.
No, well maybe not that economical, but it's a small tank. So, 55 litres makes a difference
in one of those, that's my car updates.
My like, a bunting. I like it a lot.
Well, we're very close. We're close.
We're very close to the. We don't get back to my holiday.
I will be. Yeah, delving right into that
because I like the weather will be better will be daylight sale.
And I like Saving will be I want to drive it everywhere.
Absolutely. Scotty do king is not a wealth
Hazard. Evidently well yeah.
Sort of this these days. I thought the ad used to go
these now. Yeah, my turn.
I've actually got some things to talk about.
Yeah. You've been busy skinny?
Yeah. Past couple days.
I've been just working on the 31, installing a bunch of things. And so I put in the new throttle
position sensor. Finished off fitting all the
Mission leads as well. So I've got that all done.
I went around and found all the Earth's in engine bay, clean them up, sandpapered, put them back, open the distributor, distributor cap, and gave the contacts, a bit of a clean as well. So cleaned all that.
So I know like ignition spot on, start it up.
Start up like straight away, really, really good was idling, not too bad and then it's got that Stupid, missed the kick coming in, it would run and just kind of drop in and pick back up again and then dropping them pick back up and kept doing that. So I just let it run for a bit,
maybe that'll clear it up. I put in fresh 20 liters of 98
in there too. Just in case it was that if it
was low but it wasn't. So that wasn't the problem kind
of sad to clear up and I'm sitting there just with the throttle and just giving it a Revenant and when you quickly flick it there's a pause and then it revs and then it drops out and then almost goes to stall.
So I'm sitting there, like, just thinking for a bit, it's going over everything, what could it be?
What could be? And it's pretty much just down
to one thing that's left and that's the air flow meter or the air mass reader. However they call it AMF, AFM at
the air flow meter. So as to test it out, I
unplugged it resident really changed much.
Which it should. You should definitely hear
something or a bit of a change. And then when I unplugged it, I
gave it a REV and it didn't do that.
Hesitant at actually read it properly, like straight away.
Really, really quick, then it would drop off an almost kind of stall, that's because I don't have it connected connected back to do the revs again. And in that problem, popped up
against easy feat, slutty, point of view.
Yeah, that's where we get into this point now.
Seems like an easy fix, but But they don't make them anymore, can't get them anywhere. So they're all either secondhand
or there's a company that will take yours and fix it.
All up for a handsome sum of 600 bucks.
Now, we make a box, massive money, so they're very hard to get this. Where is it?
There's one, I'm looking at the moment, they're not in yet.
It's Holden Commodore parts. Because it's a Nabi 30
individuals. Got the same thing.
Yeah, but I'll be 30 air flow meter $298.
But it's pre-order at the moment and ETA s the first of October, some keep my eye on that, but I got a feeling it may be coming from if we've all used Ali, Baba before heard of Ali.
Baba. Yeah.
So there's air flow meter there, the sixth exact, all the codes made. Up to the original Bosch.
One exact. It's $50, but You have to buy
minimum of 10 of them. So you used to call me one who
alibaba.com? Yes.
Have you checked on AliExpress? Because l express is the, I
believe it's the same company, but you can buy more, I guess.
Standard consumer quantities. Because I didn't want to buy
that many and find out. It doesn't work.
I'll be happy to pay 50 bucks or something and it doesn't work or not that great. That's fine.
I can live with but I'm not going to buy it and of them and then find out doesn't work and then I'm stuck with tears.
Yeah, do anything with the other question?
I asked what he is, he's probably done this, but have you used math cleaner? Spray on the, on the mouth.
Yes. Donald I've got my other
question for you Scalia as well as I know with unneeded are and stuff. It can cause cars to go a bit
how you going. So have you checked the actual
pipe? Is it got any cracks in it?
Is there any air leaks? And it's like any extra air that
it shouldn't be? Because that quite often is a
big issue. I had that happen to me in my
laser or Jesus like within the first two years I had it the the flexible hose that goes from the from the air flow meter to the to the actual to the intake plenum, had a little split in it and with and the car would like revin go to Die.
Mike what the hell is going on? Found out how to crack.
I duct-taped it just to get me by and it was fine it because it go into that hole button up what another hose for, like, 60 bucks brand-new, and then it's been fun of a sense.
So, because I thought that was because I know they get brittle and that is that is something that happened to me as someone a few other people. I know.
They're like, they're like, yeah, my my intake hose.
Just because it's getting that extra on me today.
You know, pasty, if I met down at school, it causes all sorts of shenanigans. So you kind of want to make
sure, just just, just just as it was a piece of thing just just just check it, make sure it's okay and then go from there and I want to know, I want a guy that well you come on the show a few weeks ago Mark it's the McCallum he's played around with the air flow meters before he can if you can fix them.
So worst case scenario, we can get him, never look at it actually. Yes I will.
I will also ask Daniel concerning.
He now has two other drugs violence and one of them isn't running so maybe he's willing to part with that for a reasonable son. Yeah.
So I'll just be the skin if you thank you very much.
Well, that's what I'm on a hunt for that.
One at the moment. What else did I do in the car?
The brakes have done all the braids.
They've been flushed and bled. Nice, that's pretty easy.
It was Dirty. It's a rust and that was coming
out. So I'm glad I've done all that.
That's all nice and clean. Now, I found the crack in the
room, so I had to, I had to do the also people to trick to find it. Exactly.
You can't even see it. That's small.
Yeah. He'll say he'll be like, that
should be an easy fix. I'm sure they'd just do better.
Well, that's not in a spot where it's where it would damage it, structurally or anything like that.
It's just like on the face where you've got because it's like a two-piece Rim. It's just on the face where the
I guess that other piece sits on to the main part of the rim.
So it's just in there and a little corner there, it should be an easy. Fix Mike having to look, I
reckon I might be able to run those rims without spaces as well, which would be pretty good but be very good.
It only just Nick's part of the The brake caliper not the caliper itself. It's like a can't even explain
it. You got to see it.
It's just an extra piece. That's kind of hanging off.
It's not really part. It's not really the caliper
itself or anything, so I reckon, I could probably shave a little bit off. It wouldn't, it would need like
not even a milk, shaved off because it just skims it, you can hear it just skimming it, and will be sweet.
That would tuck in nice and neat, and then it wouldn't rub anymore and then it would be fine going through roadworthy inspection. Well, I think that's what we got
to do is go to your eye because, you know, the deadline is my friend. It's clean.
It's classy. December December. 2 is coming
up. It is coming up and your boss
isn't decent before. Yeah, about it with our 31
couple things. I know people can't see it but
I've caught up just at least you can see and I can talk about it.
This one here. I got from David.
That's sick. So we open it up.
Opens up, huge to so that's called and we see that the body in circulation, nice everything all in their pre-delivery checklist very nice. Super cool.
So when we get your car in the road, what we're going to do that checklist to your Skyline. Yeah, I'll fail.
Fail fail. Is intense, and where there's
rust and circling and my other magazines.
So, that's the 32 gdr one. They called best album and then
the 33. And then we put the V form.
Nice. They come with heaps of
information. Ian, I hope quick like it's
huge. When you see this, the side of
it. Dipped Different lyrics that
aren't they? Yeah.
It has tons of pictures is stuff about Motorsports, so about on the taking it to the Nurburgring of, it's very couple.
Take it to the Nurburgring. Yeah, the 400 are is in here to
write up on that whole drying up on drivetrain Interiors.
Stuff. I'm just a normal Earth, 33g DST
the people that made it designed it if you do Motorsport.
That's cool. All right.
Thanks the weighty Tome. If it's the same as a 32 on, I
had these bossam olds advertisements in the back.
No, just the 32 one. I'll just looking at it the
other day. It's got all these old pictures
so I can find it is neither back.it's called your the
skyline King Sky. You've got more Skyline material
than anyone else. I know.
Awesome. Skyler personally, that's the
old ones in here like the 2000 GT, e-- X are 31's.
Our 30s or going back to 1957. That's cool.
That's really old ones here to similar all Old advertisement.
Yeah, yeah. It's really cool.
That's it. It was at the back of it.
So yeah, it's just a pact with so much awesome stuffing in these all the day reading for you, Scotty.
Yes. And it's nice light reading his.
You just kind of go through and get all that looks interesting.
Puller your phone Google translate.
Thank you know what that's about and that's me.
Mr. Prince whoa, gosh, nothing nearly is substantial as anyone
else tonight, but it's going to be pretty quick.
Let's just try to think ahead lovely day set this Sunday when I want a bit of a drive with mr. Bunting, and at my request, we
took the 12 for 300 CE e, which was very nice, which I drove all day, basically, which was all day, literally, all day.
And your impressions David three people, three bad things, three good things. Oh my goodness, Road prisons or
beautifully planted on the road. Lovely, lovely weighted steering
or there's a lot to like about the car.
It certainly it Corners beautifully and and the right at speed like on those russet roads, that were wrong, was absolutely brilliant. There was others.
Little bit of inclement weather. So the lack of a One Sweep on
the wiper which you pointed out was characteristic of all ladies benzes, which is something I'm not used to it as most of my Japanese cars have had that function.
So funny how often you use that and I noticed it in the, his old benzes, you know. Yeah.
I must sort of the do it a lot in the other cars without realizing that. When it's not there you're like,
no, I don't want for swishes, I just want one swoosh.
That's right. They obviously thought they knew
better. Yeah, that was really my only
criticism is. Right there was another one, you
had a sore back, I had a little bit of a sore back of the seat to me lacked a little bit of lumbar support but I do like a bit of lumbar support in a car. So I often actually take a
lumbar cushion in on long trips anyway but to that be quite a long trip actually that on Sunday to thank you.
Then I bet Would be driving but yeah that is the only thing likely didn't amount to anything.
It may have been with more familiarity.
I might have adjusted the seat, you know, a bit better.
The cushion was very just about across and and the like but no absolutely wonderful experience. Very enjoyable day measuring
glad you like the could have been improved had the weather been lovely the sunroof open of course because you know, how 11 does like a sunroof But that wasn't an option.
So that a lovely way to travel and interestingly, on the run which was a not necessarily car club, it was more a charity group, it would actually a charity called drive against depression. But yeah, we were the oldest
cow. We.
There were lots of lots of focuses and the Cayman and all sorts of bits and pieces of Cupra.
We were by far the oldest car. Yeah.
If the weather was good, you could have had On Full Monty and not just sunroof open but pillarless windows or yes.
Yeah, yes that's nice. When you've got that full flow
through and the roof open, it's pretty much a convertible pretty much and and it would have easily our cooled, the, all the other cars that are so just saying it's putting it out there, Volkswagen had a flat tiles, like folks.
So that was a very enjoyable a time.
We actually called him at a one of our club members places.
We have been to before, who has an incredible collection of early Ponder's that. He's a vest in the last little
while which the club's actually going to run up there in late October, which is out of like a smash.
And, yeah, this, he's got some really interesting bits and pieces are all in the process of restoration.
So he's got a lot of work ahead of him Circle.
Hopefully, it could were quite work out a way to get like eight days in a week or something like that.
So it was good. Had a little bit of fun
yesterday afternoon after another fellow and the club is overseas. And had given me the keys to his
cabin to keep running while he was away.
So, I actually being Andhra cost to start a chain of the key.
That's a 1988 Honda City Factory, Carol.
A, which is a very rarely little card designed by pininfarina, and yeah, it and it's manual. And a sweet sweet little car.
So that was a very pleasant little drive in that.
I'm very glad to in the club are very glad, it's closed, it's in Immaculate, condition. And yeah, it needs to come out
for some more more shows this summer.
I think it's a bit of a rarity. So I think that's all my updates
so far. Yes, I've got to leave me to the
time being really myself. I went on Today too.
I had a rally driving experience which I hunt for two years, but I couldn't use because the covid, I decided to use it.
Use it on Saturday, and it was a rally, and a drifting experience. So got down to your place in
Bacchus. Marsh called rally drove.
Yeah, do that. Yeah.
And there's like, there's like a massive BMX track.
Like, not being nice. Like like, like Motocross,
China. I'm driving to the place.
These people. These people racing each other
on them on there, on the on their goodbyes just likes.
It's like like 15 minutes ago, I went, what the hell are you crazy kids? Because like they used to Rally
all day. Day.
Yeah. All right.
So yeah, they somewhat the first part of day was driving.
A Subaru, WRX and did a few Laps on the rally course, and it was really enjoying myself and then I hit a rut and then on the back of the straight and I was like, oh, the steering feels a little bit fine, but a bit weird, but whatever.
Always the turn and the keep going straight.
And I, and I, and I went off. So, I broke the car.
But yeah. So the, I think he said, One of
the lower ball joints like that, it's a very common on that.
They when they just abused like that, they go through on pretty quick. So the front wheels were facing
each other essentially like that and experience the drifting side of things. Nails with to be drifting, AI 33
GTS. Non like not non-turbo Skyline
but that the previous person that had the car before me, put into a wall. So damaged the radiator.
So they said, they brought it this stock car which was like you're like a proper cage stock car which was a vs Commodore and the guys are running. The event said the vs is way
more fun to drive because it's a lot more Takia.
It's got a lock diff and you just you just drive it on the on the throttle. So like you can do you.
Steer it on the photo which is Lee.
He's like it's like it's all white way more fun.
I'm like okay yeah, sounds good. So I drove the vs.
Got. It was fun.
Yeah. I was like, I felt I was making
like, like I've never made before you made it was it was leaking corners and spotted a few times.
And I still don't once and I like okay great.
And you know, I came back and then they then they hop in the car and give you like a full experience of like a hope that this guide legit link to hold the whole track in the in this car. I'm like, damn, like, dude,
you're insane. He's like, I do this for a
living, so he's, he's like licking all corners and then, and, and yeah, it was, it was so much fun so that I end up on casters are going to be as Commodores to buy.
I was like, no, I don't need that car.
We're doing an ague Falcon Falcon.
So I mean that's probably the best option for it.
So yeah, I had a lot of fun on Saturday.
And then, what else are we gonna open up to?
I think that's been virtually it on, on my, on my end of, of cast off. So, that is anything broken
Maddie. Um, we don't talk about broken
things, but the LTD is online currently for sale.
So it's official it's online for sale.
It would kind of put a gun to my head and said, you better put up with shallows. I'll shoot you.
And I was like, okay, it's loading.
You said it's, like, yeah, that doesn't actually That's that's what happened. And the Merc is when my uncle
comes down for my brother's wedding is taking them out back with him. Always very good.
Yeah, we could drop it up there. We could take it on my eyes
pilgrimage. Yeah, one on one last run.
Maybe one last one which it, which would be kind of cool.
How, how far as up there? 18 hours away.
Huh? Your confidence?
What could go wrong? What could go wrong?
It's exactly right. Your dad to a A call for a Toro
somewhere along the way. Well, here's the thing, Ellen,
that car in its first four or five years.
I mean, I had seen the book, it went to Sydney and back, Sydney and backs. Arguing was like a chauffeur or
like VHA car back in there, because it had 200,000 Cajuns first like four years. So, if there's any cut I can do
it your drug running, carrots are the other point, but if there's any card I can do it, it's the, it's the essence of the alternate reality would do it.
It's Canary cry. Engine.
Yes. So it can do it.
I think you can do it. So I'm confident sort of and I
think the advice you need to register.
Your uncle is once you get started, it's time to switch it off this. Just keep running 24/7.
You only fell in love, just keep running.
It's fine. Don't recommend it.
Don't they look down upon at the pump that you can do it, especially if it's a, you know, self-serve pump will pay your own way from. They weren't didn't even I'm
wondering so it's a good idea but I do that's still the one piece of advice I'd render just don't turn it off and then you go another worry about it should be right.
Exactly. So that is it on my end
gentlemen's. Now tonight's topic I want to
talk to you guys about because I wanted you to have a think about what I want to say this to you as earlier about your best feelings, during car ownership, and worst feelings during car ownership. Like, what are the highs?
What are the lows? What have you found with?
This is a, this all comes together or what he felt like on. It's the one of the worst things
that's ever happened to me with a car.
So, and you know, for me, I've been stranded in the Merc jeez, many times, but, but they weren't bad experience because one time I was in a drug deal and I didn't even know Part of I mentioned on the show a few times provides gentleman, or I'll leave it with you guys. Best, what we started with with
our best best moments that memories and moments that have happened to us during car ownership.
I for one would probably one of my best would be going back.
A long time. I'll have to say, I'll just,
I'll just sleep in a long time and picking up my 78, SE Toyota Corolla from Bay Road, Motors in moorabbin and driving it home at the ripe old age 18 in two days. So cool, that I mean, we've
talked about this on this podcast, another podcast about that freedom that sense of freedom and that sense of, you know, the world's your oyster basically, you can actually go Anywhere you want. And yeah, that's a pretty
awesome feeling and I think anyone is the car.
As will can not have to take too long to bring that that first drive of their first car back to line.
So yeah, I think that's certainly one that stands out for me. Yeah, I would agree.
That was exciting. I think for me getting Ells more
than maybe peas because I drove up a lot on my else.
I said, you sort of got that feeling better.
Yeah. Hells Bells was a big one.
Yeah, I love driving around. The suburbs and forcing my
parents to come with me. And I just wanted to keep
driving and never stop. Never stop my be getting the 34
JD I uh I think as you know, I just think pictures of it and you're waiting for it to come over here.
And then finally, it's complied and the drive to the other side of the city and then to walk in the shop and they're sitting there and knowing that I can just drive out.
With it was awesome. Just seeing a person looks so
much different than the pictures because so much smaller than what you picture. Like when you see the images you
are looks like a pretty big car but when you actually see it in person, a lot smaller. The color look fantastic.
And put a whole full tank of 98 in it because really empty pretty expensive cars. Like that, that you've waited a
long time to get or saved up for all.
You can't quite believe it's yours.
You know that I have heard. It said I remember getting my MG
Midget and I've wanted one for years and, you know, say got my first job. So I saved up enough money.
I bought a stereo and the mg they were my two first year of working purchases. And yeah, just walking out to
the garage and sing a sing them. Bright red with the top down.
You think that's mine? Wow.
Like, I couldn't quite fathom that I bought that.
And then the first time I put Put my foot down here.
Can Jesus felt fast? I kept kept skipping from second
into fourth because I was like, oh, that's quick.
I'll just go a bit slower. So I skipped third and go into
full like to cruising and look fool.
It's quick. Mmm she's got some bite.
Yeah because fart sounded almost everything about it, just stays in my mind. For Life.
How long did you wait for that car boss?
Scotty I don't reckon it was too long.
Maybe maybe eight eight months maybe?
Yeah. It wasn't wasn't too bad.
The turnaround. You know, it got onto the boat,
pretty quick. Smart, come over here, and then
you just constantly paying a whole bunch of things and then it went to the compliance place and they'll just contacting me saying, you know, just the tires and that kind of stuff.
So I said yeah. Told him what kind of tired as I
just told, you know, don't skimp on it but that's stuff that your needs to get changed. Anyway to get compatible didn't
just be handing over the money to all these random people that you've never met never see me car exactly what we'll use to just you know, thinking gee I hope this actually about something in the end but the I must say the process was pecan cake. All I had to do is just keep
paying the bills come Um I paid yeah yeah.
He's it easy process. And then yeah when I got the
call this saying yes ready to pick up.
Well fantastic, I'll tell you what.
I got I got the one funny thing was with a six-speed.
I've never I've never driven a 6-speed.
Took me a bit to figure out how to get into reverse.
Yeah, okay, I'll put in six, like I don't like sitting.
I don't understand that you pull up and then put it into.
Yeah. Versus electric putting into
six, like, an idiot. But I don't know how all of
called me the other day and she had to move the the fiesta and she's like, Matt I can't move the car head or put it in reverse. I'm like I'm like you got to
lift up the things like lift up what she's like cracking it on the photos you can tell she was frustrated and frazzled.
She say how do I move this damn thing of like I don't need to lift it up and she's like oh, okay.
That makes sense. I'm like that's all right.
Relax, it's okay. Push down on running and you get
it running and you realize it's sort of okay many times over the years where you buy something and you're like, like I've dragged something out of a farm shed, you've trailer anything, you can clean it up. And then you're like, oh, is
this any good? And when it finally runs and
most of them, I've had a run, okay?
And you go, Okay, so let's just look too bad 3 status.
Here we go. Yeah, or an achievement I could
be dry. You know when I bought my my
good at Renault 16 from Canberra, you know, drive it away back to Melbourne and and it ran like a top and you make it. It's very satisfying when you're
rolling up to homegoing. Hello, you know, good girl.
Well done sort of thing. Yeah, thank you satisfaction.
I had driving at Honda City into into Darwin after eight thousand cases of rally on some of the worst roads.
You know, you we're old To the Darwin Hilton at the end of everyone's clapping. And there's like this Fanfare of
cars rolling in, and that wasn't a car than anyone expected to make it. And so, I love proving people
wrong. And yeah, we rolled in and went
good car. Good car.
But that would've been a cool experience actually.
Just just getting getting it then.
Well, I think a good experience for me like, especially when I want of had mechanical issues with cars, just getting it home and get and like you, I come on one street to go, you can Willing at home and it's like, it's like they're the sense of relief, you know, when you, when you get the alike, I'll take you inside with me. Come on, let's go.
Oh, yeah, yeah, it's yeah. It had that.
I've heard that a few times, I think maybe I think one of those, probably, when we end up buying the WRX, STI will do the other, the other X it was just, it was also very, it was very sudden, basically I just show them what other car and cigars can see it and I did. Expect an issue, you know, be
approving of it. And ex, you know where the deals
You music, right? I'll pay my credit card.
Is that okay, which does this is a go to, it's like Massacre, you know who which as a any kind of person who's worked in, you know, the a leased vehicle. Real terrarium with your
presence? They charges are quite
significant. They were Merchants charges so
they're always a bit displeased at letting you do that but we managed to it wasn't the first, our first rodeo.
So you know, we just And I was like, well I wish you gonna be asked about the car. Next thing you know they need to
get roadways and everything else.
So I think that I'm waiting for like two weeks so long week then weeks, long, two weeks as is getting there like finally.
And then again, it was a little sad moment that I can drive it home because I still had no medical training so there's like I'm gonna drive it home. I was like okay I would have
gotten home last. Yeah, well with no clutch left.
Oh no, I took it out to whatever Drive the next day, that's all in a row. So this Is one of the things you
know you gotta learn the car but that was there was an awesome experience has been like this is a car that like, you know, again I want his kid and now it's like become reality.
So just a choice overall. I think it's hard to beat the
other one was probably when I bought the MX-5 because I was my first solo Adventure into buying cars.
I guess you could say where I had, you know looked it all up, contact the gentleman and I might end up before the Mustangs as well but that never kind of yeah came to fruition.
Where's this you know it Highest I left extra early in the morning from Canberra. It got to this gentleman's house
in was Murchison country. Victoria test-driven it, you
know, had the negotiations gone home talking on the phone, got the cash together. Like it was very much like a
little Heist that had done with the nobody don't.
Well, at least my family to know about and, you know, having that be a success. Have the car parked is pretty
sweet. And then the moment that like I
brought it home properly, But I was actually like I was happy with this car, you could just told me.
Yeah, just having me like, you know, I feel like these kinds of cool just have him like give it like that tick of approval.
Was I was quite nice. Yeah, I never got the ticket
approval. I was just got the shake of the
head. What are you doing?
Yeah, my mom came out the other night and I because I pull the roof off the boat and she and she said, oh, it looks much better with the roof off, doesn't it?
I said yeah, it does. And she said well, I'll have a
driver that over the summer and I'm Yep, that's fun.
Oh crack on with it. Yeah, it's it's exciting when
you've waited. I mean that, you talked about
waiting Scotty, like I've waited since I was a kid to have a Mini Moke. It's that's like nearly 40
years. I've waited for one of those.
That's a long time. It's a long time and the day I
get a pagoda which you know, it'll happen one day.
But you know I think I'll just burst into tears.
That's been like a, you know, it is a lifelong car for me, you know, one That it keeps escaping you know you know you sort of never think that this going to ever happen have you ever driven or being driven in a pagoda? Yeah, yeah, I've driven.
I have driven one, one or two, I think I've driven over the years, they're very solid best of far, more far, more solid and quality feeling than you would think being a 60s convertible.
Yeah, there's a lot. I like about those cars.
But yeah, they're very expensive now too.
So, you know, that that notion of only one you like Well you're going to have to forego something like a house in order to make that dream happen. Is that there's okay yeah yeah.
What you're saying it about? Not quite believing that it's
yours. I was looking through my phone.
The other day came across the video of my in one coming off the track in the mud. Yeah.
With our street. Yeah because I actually When I
first saw the car in 2011, at the top of your mother showed of the Prototype. I thought War, how am I going to
get one of those? And we had a few goes and I even
applied personally through it to the Department of Industry infrastructure in Canberra to try and bring one in and the someone rang me and said, may, you know, do you know what's evolved their weakness? You got a mission to test it any
better. This I said yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yes, let's do it and then extract and thinking, okay?
And then blokes got even was doing just passing passing all his money across you know what not all this money wasn't a king's Ransom but you know I mean you just keep paying for something you've never seen you do.
You don't actually know exists about me seen pictures of a cat pass. The day that you'd actually
arrived in the street and then I could drive it five kilometers because we were locked down, I'll drive it around and around and around and around that big block.
I tell you. But it was that feeling, I can
remember thinking. I can't believe this is
actually, I can't believe it's mine.
You know, like, yeah, I had been through that buying process, it was literally just plug delivered as a package of a front, door was great, and I think that process is, is nice in a way like the dreaming and the, the line Awake at night, you know, thinking thinking what it's going to be like if it comes too easily I think you don't value it as much.
Know, exactly right. Exactly right.
Okay. I yearned for a w108
Mercedes-Benz for years and months and whatever.
You know, when I was a teenager and finally at age 19 and it was the first bends that I ever bought.
And yeah, I remember driving home in it, going wor can't believe it but also this feeling of all right.
So what now, you know, like, Yeah.
God I've achieved the dream. What you know all that fund a
dreamy time is kind of gone. So sometimes I don't know.
The crash is better than the relationship or the dreaming about the car is maybe better than game ogre.
I think that's. That's you know why?
I like my unicorn of a tx3 turbo is like it's always it's always there like I loved one but like, you know, I just like kind of like the chase if you're not. I mean I kind of like yeah.
It's the one day car you know, it'll happen one day and yeah that when the planets align and you know it's it's it's like the mark you know I wasn't out searching looking at every single one and you know, but I got an alert and okay, that's the right one and you know, when, you know, when the planets align and it's right and you should do it when you shouldn't and when it's not right and just go, yep.
All right, we're doing it, you know.
So it's not like I couldn't have bought another one.
And you know, but yeah the story's got a little line up, you know. It's got to be I'll be right
along when I brought my first laser home.
When when run I had the this laser that was essentially the guy didn't want anymore. That gave it to her and I said
you know it cost me too much to fix.
Just just here. Here you go and run output Port,
you know, 500 bucks to fixing it to get on the road.
Basically, he's like to pay me what I would have got into the car and it's Yours hang in the money and then but I didn't even get a date Taken home here because he still had to start to do a few bits and pieces to it to get it on to get a roadway leading. But going there, every Saturday,
like I was in high school at titles in those in these other than you 10 or 11. It was selling over there.
That beats the interior but yeah, it was so cool.
Every Saturday going with Mom to while Mom would be in the office working. I'd be in the back.
Stripping this down a lazy had, they're taking parts off, putting it into my My laser making my laser really really nice. And then when I finally came to
the neighbors roadworthy to have the road where the in my hand, you know, and we had a we had an appointment book that bundoora Vic roads but the moment of what we hopped in, the car, mom was driving it. And I was in the, I was in the
passenger seat and just hearing Mom put it in first gear and just rolling it out of the dry weight was, I think still to this day out, of all the cars I've ever had the best experience of it is satisfying, that's brilliant.
All this work and all this time and effort.
And now I finally get to enjoy and I get to.
And then the next morning, I woke up super early and just when it just what I just said us on the steps and I was just looking at it like an idiot. But I think mums, I think I
think Mom was or someone said to me is like that.
It is there, it's okay. Only them things that they tore
up my senses. The minute I put this up with
that and having it there and I was like, oh this is this is this is this is it, you know this this is this is arguably one of the greatest moments of my of my entire life and it was it was fantastic. And you know like I mean it was
the cheapest car ever bought but it's probably this will be the most important kind that in that interest in there in that in that aspect because it was you know, the car that I learned to learn to do it virtually everything in so but just having It came home that day and driving it driving home that night was was fantastic. Love it.
I think for myself like having a car before I end up getting my Peas, I think that would have really liked every day.
Would have been filled with like a little bit of angst until I could drive the car. Yeah, like, come on, come on.
I'm there's a solid chance of achieving the car illegally.
Like I'm quite grateful that I didn't have a car that I could call. The are technically my own until
after I got my piece is, I mean those those those days after I got my piece until I got As well.
They were also Agony because I was at my own car.
Damn it. Yeah, big boy.
But ya, know what I mean? Oh, I think I came into
adulthood when when like I was 17 and I went to the the vicroads upon with my mom, and I thought Mom was putting it in her time and my mom was like, oh, come on.
Give the guy you Learners. And I'm like, wait, I quite like
a cars in my name. They liked like, you can put
your car in your name. It's you've got a learner's
permit. You can put it in your name, I
don't think. Well, I'm an adult around.
This is this is it like this is it's happening.
So I was like shakily handing over the the last that will be the learner's permit I should say and it was fantastic.
But yeah it's forms of that like you, you're right angst and things that build. Yeah.
And I guess I kind of felt like like how you felt with that with you with your mocha showing that the the one I wait in terms of like like my car that car yearned for as a kid was a six typhoon irui. Did Juan and after seeing one at
the, at the motor show, you know, brand-new.
I was like, ah, I've got to get one of the get one of these and the moment I drove it out of the guy's driveway and get hit full Boost on the on its near it. For them the main road, the
Melton Highway Evans is just got edges just went and I was just like backed off and I was like ah this is the best like I drove it straight to the city. I got to start just drop it all
the way there. Yeah.
Fantastic. It was yeah they they they
moments like I think I'll treasure forever.
I think it's a yeah you never forget that same with the MX-5 like I owe my master in year. 7 had one, you know, the na in red
you know. And I always wanted that car
didn't have to be read but you know I always wanted in a.
And so when I finally bought that you know 20 years later at a Sydney, you don't remember driving at home, I left Sydney at like 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon and got home at 10:00
p.m. that night, but you know, if you don't stuff around it, A
nine-hour drive. But but yeah, just getting it
out on the highway and getting out through.
Yes. Sort of, you know, down south of
Sydney towards camera will have you.
And I was like, I just said out loud, I love this car.
I love this car, you know, coming along and I was like, I was so happy people like you driving him, explore be to state. I'm like damn straight.
I am that's a that's a walk in the park.
That's that would that would be nowhere, been awesome.
Dude, even the turaga, you know, when I went when I bought that at the auctions, you know, flew up with the steering column and you fit that and then, you know, it's my uncle's typography head since you and I was driving that out of Canberra and it didn't take me very long. You know, originally I bought it
back thinking, I would, you know, fix it and sell it to someone in the Toyota Club, you know, just just to save it, you know, I didn't want me going out, you know, to the wrecker and But after literally minutes driving that car, I was like, yeah I'm not selling this, it's it's not, it's too smooth, it's too sweet, not the, that one's staying but very, it's very satisfying when. Yeah, it all comes together and
they just work on the way home from living.
What about the worst moments when they get crashed into?
Yep, I agree with that. That's Interrupt.
But my mini got rear-ended by Bedford van.
That was great. Really?
I did that? That'll never happen.
I was stopped in. Yeah, Bedford van went into the
arse of me and it didn't, it didn't damage it.
I mean, it did damage it horrendously, but not not crazily. So that the rest of the body was
okay, because it's so Hollow in the back, there's nothing behind there. It just didn't even break the
rear windscreen but it caved in underneath that.
The good thing with those Those cars is they've got external.
Seems so the welds are all on the outside and they actually cut the two rear pillars near the top that they got a donor back. And you know, well would that on
you know, via mostly via the external seams?
And so it's had a new you and you bum on it.
Oh wait. All the other panels, the
original. But and it still drove find.
It was tracking straight and everything.
It wasn't out of whack body-wise, it was just quite caved in Not something they could easily fix.
It was easier to put a donut back on it, so it had that done.
But that was off the road for eight months because I had third-party not comprehensive and you learn these things on your kid. And yeah, I had to wait for them
to put in a claim, you know, they just didn't, you know, so well, what was off the road for a long time?
It was very disappointing. I was one of the worst ones and
then buying cars, I shouldn't have bought, I bought a Merc w114 compact. I was emotional one day and went
out and bought this stupid thing just looked all right, On paper, but it had its slipping transmission.
And I figured, you know, you find that out in the car, warms up, on the way home you like, this is not as good as what I thought it was and when I bought it.
And so I very quickly sold that again.
Yeah, laughter than that. It's really just when they get
crashed or damaged or break down when you don't want them to maybe. Remember bringing my little
panel van back after it had an engine put in their sin.
Basically, that was a car that Was didn't have an engineer when I got it and I found it on eBay, and it stopped four times on the way home. And I rang the mechanic who who
done the work and great guy. And he said, I think I know what
that is. So instructed me how to actually
take the fuel line off the, of the fuel filter, and actually blow back through because the He hadn't actually flush the tank, the petrol tank. So all the rust of rubbish in
the part of the fuel tank was being sucked up to the, to the outlet from the tank into the, to the fuel filter.
So I have just the card stop and I have to blow through the fuel line and that would be enough to blow the, uh, coffee ever.
The pickup in the tank, that the car would start run beautifully, don't drive another two or three kilometers before it will conk out again. Yeah, yeah, so I think it took
me 4 goes to get from having down to my place and he was very happy about that. That was not a good day, I was
sort of willing and like, you willing the car to get to the next stop. And I had to get across High
Street Road and I was probably about 11:00 11:00 on a weekday, you know, so the the road was not devoid of traffic and I've had to do a left hand turn on History rather than a right hand turn. So it was like I was hoping
against hope. That there would be a, the car
wouldn't stop and be there be a gap that I would have to, you know, have to stop thankfully, there was, but he fought for goes, it took to get home. That wasn't a good, very
stressful when that happens, very stressed.
Yeah, yeah. Obviously got a lot of valuable
lesson, any car that's been recommissioned after an extended length of time, he easy job, really take the tank out, get get flushed cleaned and and even blind, if need be, which I had done, I took it out in the garage here and had it done initially. Never stopped since so.
Yeah been fine. So that's that's an easy process
to do when you just factor that into the restoration, really, I'm not going to do it on the mic, I'm going to suck it and see. Oh, good on you.
There you go. You're all right, and it looked
in it. I've looked in the tank and it
looks really clean. So I get it.
With a well-known Prestige otter motive dealership and yeah, just being sucked in and trapped with it.
If I had the knowledge that I've got now because, you know, I know a lot more would have happened but I just got caught up in it. Purchased it and it was rather
expensive. Was it expensive time?
It just non-stop things going wrong all the time.
Very rarely did, I have it running perfectly just little things popping up all the time was just massive headache, but you know when it did run, well, it was fantastic.
So you bought that from a dealership, I like a BMW dealership. Nah, just a luxury vehicle,
right? A reputable operator Edward,
you've got to go good luck, safe travels and we'll see you.
Thank you. Yes.
I'll see you on October the 18th with into International Car updates potential. Well when he's actually leaving,
what do you leaving tomorrow? No to work Thursday, Thursday.
See you in a few weeks. Try to make something better or
fix the car on the way. Yeah and it's made things
considerably worse article. This is what I was gonna still
try my hand with the, the Falcon.
I decided we're going to one of the chief complaints people said were the PCV valve, especially on the gas ones was going to blow. So I thought, you know, I pulled
out my piece of evolved long behold.
It was broken with a well, let's head on down to the local Ford's part shop. Get himself a brand new.
It's only about two years, Chi Sao Paulo on the outer.
The, the old one out, don't realize that I should probably end up picking up, the little metal bits and plastic that are like, thankfully for thought about just a little little kick up thing. Yeah.
That, you know, if falls into it, it doesn't she go into the engine? It's just I didn't pick those
out and I put in the new valve and, you know, I was like, well, let's roll. So we had to go to a family.
Function that day. So we start up the Falcon, you
know, it seems okay. A conditions gone and I make it
about five minutes from the house and it stalls and we'll.
Huh. Okay, that's odd.
So it's about my put on put on my has a lights and start over and she starts, go back into drive and she still calls my hair. This is a lovely work out too
well. And there's a, did you do
anything like, yes, Yes. But yes, as most folks, make
things better. So what we decided to do was
basically I just slip the transmission of it, so stop the car, throwing neutral revving, just a little bit and then put it in drive, and the comedy know, let's forward.
And kind of be honest way once I was driving.
Yes. Okay, so we pull a U-turn
immediately, you know, we're back home.
Next set of few lights, just throw back into neutral as a car comes to the light. Slip it again and pocket up.
And I was like well that was a clearly a mistake but it's just something you feel like did I really break the colleges that?
So we took the other car. That's all fine.
And good. Next I went to the mechanic.
He pulled up the PCV and then he got one of those magnetic tools.
Yeah just went clean out the little debris under the a little while I guess the middle part that's inside the PCV valve and that may have been the actually just blogging the PCV valve, you know, whenever there's suction causing the car to stall out, which I suspect what was happening, but the coastal bit a bit funny, Myron. Also, the fact that it was used
to getting a lot more Vapor or something of that nature.
So he reset the computer, he, let's just go for a proper Drive, did that? And it was all fine and dandy in
charge me for it either, which is it for his past five minutes.
Joplin is my local mechanic at the time, but that was a is also a really bad feeling. I'd start thinking Hang on,
what's this going to cost me? But I thought I was doing the
right thing by the car, you know, but thankfully it worked out When you still got us to work yeah it works definitely.
One of the worst things to happen was getting hit up the backside of the typhoon. That was one of the worst,
right? Yeah.
I was just so just sitting there and waiting to turn into a main road and got got hit and the guy in the car behind me, heard me, yell and double profanities, which I don't usually use.
And I pulled over because I Because I knew, as soon as he hit me, I know he hit me pretty hard and I got out of like, Isaac. I'm so sorry.
I'm like I'm like I'm like dude I was sitting there like as I call you I was I wasn't paying attention and the old is not the most happiest of chappies that day.
Put that way. And I had to wait ages because
they couldn't get a rear bar for it because it's specific to that model and yeah, that was yeah I do know the carpet for a good couple of months after that because it was just like they couldn't get part anyway for it so yeah.
That. But that's all sorted now than
have to ever. Think about that again.
Hopefully never Chad, The Freshman Venture a couple of weeks ago with the fiesta. Mmm.
Well it's back. The fiesta which is good.
It's popped up carefully. It is it is, it is yeah, good
job. You can't you can't you can't
tell ya frustrating so many more that we could talk about what we are going to run out of time. So Scotty will get to your game
then we get to the quiz. Just going to spend a good
thing. That's a summarizes.
What I'm thinking is if we could probably go A lot longer with the good memories and the good things that happen, the bad things. So, you know, they'll always be
both both things happening, but we didn't even get into favorite drives that we've been on, you know, like and that sort of thing of they think that's a whole other show, you know, the whole podcast. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
But but yeah, I mean car guys, I think, you know, you've got to remember the good bits more than the bad bits.
That's what. Yeah, absolutely.
Well mr. Scott before we get into the
quiz so Scotty, take it away, my friend.
Okay, so I haven't come up with a name.
I don't know what to call it yet, but so I changed the names of certain cars. You'll still have the
manufacturer name, but the model will be changed to different name. That means the same thing using
a sort, okay? For example, because it is like,
cryptic crossword is that So take, for example, Scotty could this good? Cryptic Scotty.
Yeah. So my example, one would be, if
I said Ford course, that would be like Ford Mustangs.
The main for Mustang is a horse and like, Dodge devil would be like, Dodge Demon. So I got some ones here to get
started and see how you go. You just buzz in.
Yep, just the same as a normal quiz.
Just buzzing, you know the answer.
So the first one. Honda perception.
Matthew man on the inside, correct, that's it.
Yep, yep. Yep, I should shouldn't.
I I can do it if you want, all you can do it.
Awesome. Guys, School chick, I'm on 12,
just to say, you know, online. All right, here's the second
one, Subaru, Freedom. Oh, Alan league is legacy of
Liberty. But relive difficult, because
Freedom, look at, yes. So I've got a mix of like some
kind of easy ones but hard ones in there too, so it doesn't get harder necessarily, it just kind of varies.
Next one is nice on Horizon. Matthew Maddie.
It's Colin right? Correct correct.
Dave has long enjoyed my brain. Start with all right.
Mitsubishi hallucination. Oh, Alum.
The Mirage. Yeah, correct.
That's right. It's just bringing maths into
it. Yeah, that could work.
All right, Suzuki swordsman Matthew. or David just squeezed
in there because a she No, yes, hopeless.
David, what's happening? Okay, next 100, Jive Matthew
David. Matthew just, yeah, just
Dominoes on store, bad about how I look at the source and it says it. All right, this is probably like
my favorite one. This one Ford party.
Matthew. Matthew Fiesta.
Yeah. Yeah,
I had a fiesta sedan, so we had the fiesta Fiesta and we have the fiesta Fiesta. We stuffed it with balloons in
there. One of the prizes you could win
was, how many balloons are in the fiesta Fiesta?
Ha ha ha, ha, a good times. The next one is Ford Polk
Matthew. What probe?
Yes. Okay.
Let's see. Here we go with this one.
This is Uki rapid. Oh, David Alum Swift.
Yes, it's not quick enough. You go be quick with this on
because I'm pretty sure you'll be able to get this on pretty quick. Swipe all of you.
Morris child. L Alum.
The Morris. Minor.
Yes. Morris Minor.
Last one. Don't forget to get this.
Even get this. No pressure.
Okay. Last one, the high-end I origin.
They are here. Nah I'm good Matthew I think
many Genesis yes Genesis okay I mean that is even cooler Hyundai Genesis. I just call it ID.
Actually, that's the trick question and then the shenanigans. Idea for heads of this Source on
hand, you could transfer Mike has been transferred to.
So you know. So so it is well now it is the
quiz time so second quiz of what I mean it kind of yours was kind of a quiz anyway. There's a bonus quiz gonna
squeeze, you know, I started first queasy.
Yes. Correct correct.
Well, let's see, let's get into the cockpit.
Has 10 questions. Plus most Christians, you know,
the rules Gents. It's question 1.
The Austin-Healey Sprite was a small open top sports car.
That was not designed to be a low-cost model so that what sorry say again. So that was the Healey Sprite
was an open top sports car. That was designed to be a
low-cost model so that blank more young people could have thought it. Well people could put it is a
good guess but incorrect. So that.
Yes, what I found out this I laughed I think she thought of such a thing. Nothing to say.
See now it would get this big would get this.
Hmm. I do.
I do like a frogeye Sprite. I think they're so cute.
I think they're coming for us. What's up Scott.
Cool, so that they could enjoy the sunny days that they don't have very much. Oh yeah, that doesn't.
That's another great gift. But incorrect mr.
Price, so that you could, it was a hideously sexist thing.
Like Like so that, you know, you could buy one for you for your lady or something. Also another good guess, but
incorrect. It was right before you go.
Is it is it was a cup of tea. No it's and I quit and I quote
it is so that a chap could keep it in his bike shed.
A chap could keep. Yeah, that's cool.
That is that is the reason why the designed to be a low-cost model so that a chap could chew Keep it in his bike shed.
Right? Right.
Bonus question. Where were the Sprites
assembled? Oh, Alum and field and tilt?
Guess who wants to do? Yes, David.
Do you mean in Australia or overseas?
What I can't. What were the countries?
That they were assembled where countries?
That's scared as you did? You say and feel the infield and
field and field incorrect? Right now in field.
It wasn't sealed. So it wasn't as if you just give
me two countries, I'll be hot. All be hungry.
Do you catch a question? Do you K all y'all?
Take England and the other country that feels in the USA would be the other one would be incorrect.
It was Australia. Well done.
Okay. Okay, so, so .54, you each it
was built. Tin in it, infield in New South
Wales and in Abingdon in in England had beaten Abington mg garages. He's question. 2 in what year
did the Toyota 70 series Land? Cruiser that debut put it this
way. It is still in production today.
It is, I'll give all other. I'll give a closest to Okay.
Oh, I'll go 78. 78 says, mr. David Prince, obviously 979
sizzling, okay. 7575 says Scottie LM takes it.
It is 84 was when I was was made so well done.
Okay. You know what, I'm going to do
for the closest to is, I'm going to give point five, but if you get on the bottom button, I'll give you the point.
So sounds fair to me, that sounds fair.
Like that. Question, 3.
Pininfarina was founded. In what decade David the 30s?
The thirties is correct? Yeah.
Well, that is, that is a really. That is a really unbelievable.
Guess, I'm surprised. Expect.
This honor things is question. Mitsubishi had two cars that
were designed by pininfarina? What were the?
What bottles were they given from the each War?
That's a really good question. Can you have an early High page?
There are designed the top Beauty was so it's on, it's a great question. 90s on would late nineties onwards only.
Okay, Scott. One of them.
Be Galant incorrect. You've got what you've got, one
more attempt for another 3000 GT increase.
That would have been my guess to be fair, because I think it's good but the break David. Let's go the eclipse Incorrect
and you're more guess Delica. incorrect he didn't design shoe
boxes Tiffany no, that's right, the projector but I like a sporty version I'll give you a point because it's the Pajero I/O and When are the cold come out?
I'll go to college. And the cold is correct yet.
They did the coal convertible? Well done.
Oh, really. They did the cult convertible?
Absolutely. I mirror behind me.
Is that like that? Yes, sir.
Just just for some clarification.
That is my thing there. And he is over there.
So he's doing The McCann that's that's the
tops of the Cayenne is a second. And pool.
Well, I'll go to the 911 in curls client.
I was like, the take a takeout is correct.
You know what? That's okay, so I think more
than double the 911 lines here, which is just Insanity.
Well, so yeah, that's pretty pretty damn.
Yep. I don't ready, take answer, but
I think for the first time ever last year Porsche sold over 300,000 cars. So that's Wow, this is a lot
question five. If I had a vehicle with the
badge. Coronet.
Well my but I be from David. Don't judge.
No, just absolutely correct everyone.
Question 6. What is the most successful
brand to in the World Rally Championship?
Scott Scott Subaru, incorrect. Oh, howdy Audis and crackling
I'll have a guess and I'm probably wrong but after some obscure thing that the might be correct, Citra incorrectly, answers Lancia. And she's want more than any
other times, any other? And, hence, the bonus question
and they actually wanted a lot more than anybody else.
That's coming near them. How many times have they won the
World Rally Championship already know?
Complete disaster. Okay, so what was that 38?
38 world religions, it's okay. David, I'll go 2020 and 07:10
17:17 albums closest. It the 110.
So bonus bonus question. How many manufacturers in It'll
have won the World Rally Championship throughout the years. Think, think about who does
rally and think about who might who's gonna win August 12.
Well, this is David Allen, August 8. 8 says on I will say
14 well jeez, okay after you've .52 Scotty and today because it
was 13. So right, right, the middle.
Well done, question. Seven in 2007, Ford unveiled, a
falcon GT Cobra, with PV, I should say, I'm about to Falcon GT Cobra limited edition model. Why did they do it in 20, 2007,
how Alum? I believe they had to get rid of
the X. Alright incorrect.
All right. David, David, 30 years after the
year XC Cobra. Yep.
I'll pay that it after the one to finish muffin and Bonds, are you sure? I'll pay that.
Thirty years that she's bonus question.
How many sedans were made? Alan 8383, incorrect, A Closer
to the positive of this one. 300, 300 is David incorrect 351.
That those are great guess, but that is also incorrect.
It is for how they made 400 of them, and they made 100.
So they might for instance 100 years question 8 a Holden VX s pack manual that was once owned by Peter Brook himself has come up online on castles for sale. What is the price close to
winning David? I saw I saw this.
I think it's 1.3 million dollars 1.3 million dollars is what
you'll get is how I'm getting my point.
So what so what was that if he's already spot-on you just say yeah. Yeah I would have yeah. 1.45
1.45 Sizzle. Mmm.
I'll go 1.1 1.1. The answer is closer to his Alum
1.5 million dollars. That is actually sanity.
Yep for a VX 1.5 1.5 million dollars.
Yeah didn't L on say 1.1 he said that someone would 1.45 always
say sorry I said what I saw that I was just like Is this guy for real and he's like, it's great value.
Considering one of Peter, Brock saw the console itself will fall like three million dollars. I'm on my like that's not how
this works. Is that how this works?
Score check Scotty .5 Alum. 1 2 3 4.
So so no David for Aleman. 1 2 3 4 5 so still anybody's game.
Whoa question 9 which of the following collaborations between and manufacturer and a Panini never happened, Jeep and Levi's Lexus, ensue and see. Him says words SRI, Racha
Mitsubishi and peanuts Cadillac and Gucci Hyundai and Prada or Hello Kitty. And Toyota Alan got Lexus and
SRI Racha. That is incorrect.
Alan Scott. He's next Hyundai.
Hyundai is incorrect. David stop it.
So, and prodded did happen. So, so you've got left to choose
from Jeep and Levi's, Mitsubishi, and peanuts Cadillac, and Gucci, and Hello, Kitty.
And Toyota. Now, just just as a context
peanuts is, that is the, the cartoon cartoon cartoon strip, sorted. Roasted salted.
No, no, no, no. Okay, Snoopy.
It's probably the one that doesn't sound right.
Is Toyota and Hello Kitty. Is that your final answer?
That's my final answer. That is correct mr.
Prince well done thank you very much all those other collaborations. Surprisingly actually happened
question 10, the new Ford Mustang was released earlier this week. What is its new performance
model called? Oh God, I can't remember like
Erica. I must say it looks absolutely
awesome. I think it looks good actually
quite I think quite well I think my very aggressive.
Yeah. Not Maggie, is it?
But it's not no idea. No idea.
David you're out or just gather guess just have a random.
Yes, you might get it. Mustangs stallion.
Mostly selling is incorrect elements.
She's got so by the way either if if Scotty so if that was if Scotty gets it it's a draw between Alum and David sweat after would have to think of a an extra question.
But if Alan gets it, he'll take chocolates and IGT.
So I can think of they've got a GT Model but it's not there, it's not sorted. That's all the answers.
Here are pass GT laughs. GT is incorrect.
It is called the Dark Horse. I do.
Ask you guys, obviously, we have to, we have to finish it up on a, on a win. That would get, I'm happy to
