Porsche is changing up their EV battery strategy,
shifting focus from wanting to build large-scale manufacturing factories to advanced battery research
for things like ultra-high performance cylindrical cells,
and not just for Porsches, for the wider VW group as well, and not just for pure EVs,
but for high-performance Porsche 911 GTSs and stuff that might be hybrids.
Now, the EV tax credit expiration in the US is driving a short-term sales surge.
Everything is up right now.
July was up year-on-year, month-on-month.
Leases were up year-on-year, month-on-month.
Dealers have got probably a couple of weeks left to acquire stock, turn it around,
remarket it, and get it all out the door before the end of September.
When the federal tax credit, seven and a half grand, four grand on a used EV, expires.
Yet there's no doubt.
First of October, it's going to be a choir today if you work in a car dealership.
China has now got 16.7 million EV charging points.
That's 53% up from the same time, January to July, last year to this year.
General Motors is expanding their EV charging adapters.
There's now got four more adapters.
So if you buy one of the new EVs from GM, like the new Cadillac OPTIQ,
comes with J3400 or the Tesla connector standard on the side of your car.
You can now get adapters that will connect that to a level two CCS or to the GM energy power shift product
or to a CCS DC fast charger.
And so you can still use those charges if you're buying a car with the new NAX port in let on the side of it.
Huawei is making the operating system and the self-driving system of the new cars from SAIC.
One of their new brands called Shangyi.
They launched their car.
It's a mid-sized crossover up against the Model Y really in China.
Got 50,000 orders in the first 18 hours.
It's the kind of business they're doing over there in China.
By the way, a new vehicle to grid test is happening.
This one in the Guangzhou area, got to be driving GAC vehicles in China.
It's still a pilot vehicle to grid is not vehicle to home vehicle to grid integrating with the electricity provider,
the car makers, the car owners and many more layers of people sitting in there invisibly to make everything talk to each other.
It's not the work of a moment, but it is a solved problem in many places.
Vehicle to grid now being done more in China, but still even at the trial phase.
Mexico's air mobility is planning to use the Chinese electric planes.
The e-hangs, they want to start doing a commercial service in 2026 for electric vertical takeoff and landing.
Rivian CEO RJ Scarridge turned up on the Inside EVs podcast, got all stuff off his chest.
One of those top topics was the U.S. moving back towards combustion.
He says it blows my mind that it's happening, but nonetheless it is.
He says if there's a silver lining, it's less competition for his business.
Over here, our government or rather the revenue collection agency, the HMRC, have got two rates now.
If you have a company car and it's a company EV and you've got to put an expense claim in at the end of the month to the boss
because you charged basically the boss's car at home to do your business.
You can charge different rates now for home charging, which is cheaper and get paid a lot more for miles driven if you DC fast charged as well.
In Spain, Ebert Roller Espana will install EV charging stations at 59 supermarket car parks for the Alamerca brand.
238 fast chargers going in.
Wire Lane is a German EV charging company.
They've acquired Ladegrun, known for their eco-friendly charging stations and they'll work together.
A new trike is coming, an E-Trike from the Pucky Puppy brand.
The Rottweiler electric tricycle has a 960 watt power
and a really big load capacity as well for those that are e-bike fans.
