An 800-volt system is a type of electrical system used in some electric cars that allows them to charge faster. It helps the car get power more quickly than regular systems.
Fast-charging means you can charge an electric car's battery much faster than usual. This is helpful for drivers who want to spend less time waiting for their car to charge.

$28,995 is the starting price for this car. It's important because it shows how much you would need to pay to buy it.

The Dacia Spring Electric Cargo is a small electric van that businesses can use to transport goods around the city. It's important because it helps companies save money on fuel and is better for the environment since it doesn't produce exhaust fumes. People talk about it because it's a newer, more efficient option compared to older vans.
Degradation to batteries means that over time, batteries lose their ability to hold a charge. This can make electric cars not work as well as they used to.
Battery degradation is how much less charge a battery can hold as it gets older. For electric cars, this means that even after many years, the battery can still work pretty well.

It's EV News briefly to get you up to speed in less than five minutes if you're really stuffed for time,
but don't want to miss out on EV News. Here we go.
BMW is readying a quad-motor version of the M3.
You're going to be out in 2027. It's leaving the test track and hitting the roads,
albeit covered in camouflage.
They're talking about M3 grade pace, 800-volt system, a sports car, a track car, full-blooded M car,
they say first rather than being EV first, but of course it will have fantastic EV specs,
100 kilowatt-hour battery, and they're not pretending that sound and sensation don't matter.
They're talking about multiple driving modes with simulated gear shifts like Hyundai do
with the N cars and a sound profile, they say, aligned with their new Neuer Classic platform.
The Chevrolet Bolt is back in American dealers and showrooms right now.
Four years after they said they were going to retire it, it's back with a new LFP pack.
It likes to be charged to 100% every single day.
The fast-charging is 150 kilowatts, night and day better than the old one.
Again, not class-leading. In fact, it probably is class-leading at that 30K price point,
but not industry-leading. It doesn't need to be, because that's the point.
I've already hinted at it. It starts at $28,995.
Now, the first version of the LT trim is $29,990. That'll come down in price.
That and the Nissan Leaf, America's cheapest electric vehicles.
Still not a patch on what I can buy, the 10, 12, 14,000-pound cars.
We've got a much bigger cheap car market here, partly because of our roads,
the history that China cars coming in, but either way, this is still great value
for Americans wanting safe, reliable new car transport.
California is moving to try and fill the gap of the federal tax credit going,
the $7,500 which went three months ago. Details are thin on the ground,
but California plans to spend 200 million pounds to prop up the EV story there.
Looks like it's going to be cash on the hood and money off a car.
Absolutely not my favorite way to go about incentivizing EVs.
Any new technology, really. Don't go into a mobile phone store to get the latest model of an iPhone
and get some money off of it from the government, but either way,
you can hear my thoughts on that on a special bonus edition of a show that I've called
The Carrot and the Stick. It's in the feed right now, and I go,
it's a half-hour spiel, ignore it if you want to, about what I think are the better ways to incentivize
adoption of new technology, including EVs. Dacia is betting on two new mini cars.
They're going to upgrade the spring, that's their small carbon around a long time,
and also make a Dacia small version of the Twingo, that's the Renault car,
built alongside it, the Renault's plant in Slovenia.
So that little Twingo, and that little Nissan microcar as well, very similar to it,
are going to be a much more modern version, the Dacia spring fitting a bit long in the tooth.
That spring's made it by Renault Dong Feng in Wuhan anyway.
What causes degradation to batteries?
Well, a new GeoTab, haul of real-world data shows honestly not much.
The average battery degradation was 2.3% per year, so after 20 years,
your EV's still going to be very much serviceable, compare that to an engine block in a car
after 20 years, and again, if you look after that, it might still be serviceable,
but all of these unfounded fears about EVs lasting five minutes and batteries being replaced,
the modern technology is not degrading at all really, and when they look at what causes it,
they say, well, it's slightly fast-charging because of the heat, but it's not like people in hot countries
in hot climates are getting degradation more than others like they used to.
LeapMotor used the Brussels Motor Show to unveil some new vehicles like the B03X,
a compact city model of the B05, so it's above it.
That's a C-segment coupe, of course, along with Stellantis.
Mazda are going to bring the Chinese version of their EZ60 to Europe.
It's going to be called the CX6E.
We're getting a pretty good car, and Mercedes is opening high-speed charging in Canada
with both the CCS and Nax plugs on the hardware. That's briefly.
