Bev's battery electric vehicles were reshaping Europe's car market this year by the end of October.
Fully electric models were now 16.4% of new registrations in the European Union.
That's up from 13.2% a year earlier, while sales of petrol and diesel continued to fall,
and not just by a little by double digits. New figures from the European Automobile
Manufacturers Association covering the first 10 months of the year show the increasing rise
of plug-in vehicles. And it's the Chinese car makers quietly reshaping the market within that.
In October, Chinese makers sold 75,000 cars in Europe twice as many as a year earlier,
and the majority of those are all electric. Those doing well, SAIC's MG Mark and BYB.
Tesla is battling the Dutch regulator a fallout over the launch date of self-driving in Europe.
They want to launch their so-called full self-driving system in February. Tesla has taken
to social media to ask its fans to ask the regulators to bring that forward.
The RDW, meanwhile, the Dutch type approval authority has rejected Tesla's claim that
February is a date when FSD will go live, and also kindly requested everyone not to contact
the agency. They say it takes up unnecessary time, and it has no impact whatsoever on any schedule.
Tesla has backed down over a name change, a contentious way, that it suddenly relabeled all of its
supercharger stations, all the names that people have been calling them for years,
suddenly changed. After complaints from Tesla owners in recent days, they were no longer
listed by city, but rather by the place it was at. For instance, Best Western Charger.
Well, now Tesla's rolled back on that, and is reverting to the previous system.
Tesla is increasing its cut-price car rentals across America. More job adverts for
rental readiness specialists across the country are popping up,
£60 a day for a Model 3 or a Model Y, and if you end up buying a Tesla after your Tesla
rental, you get $250 off of one as well. Ford reports 99% success rate with
plug-ins charge. They say that on their virtual DC fast charging network, those that do work with
plug-in charge, they're seeing extremely high success rates. Hyundai is pressing ahead with
their first extended-range electric vehicle. It'll be a Santa Fe E-rev, and production
will be late 2026, could even be made at the Hyundai Motor Group Meta-Plant America at some
point in the future. MG Motor UK has confirmed that it will delay the launch of the second-generation
MG4, which in China is a very different car to the MG4 that we've currently got over here.
They've completely restyled it. It's a whole different chassis, and in fact, it's gone front
wheel drive, drives totally different. That's one of the selling points of our current MG4,
gets rave reviews, and so MG Motor UK said that we will refresh the current MG4
rather than take the all-new and very different MG4 from China.
Scout Motors were talking at the LA show recently, the Los Angeles Auto Show, about the series
production of their Traveller Sport Utility Vehicle and the Terra Pickup Truck,
saying that key steps are coming closer in 2026. The factory ramp-up will start with
body assembly and move on to full vehicle builds in 2026. Half of their cold weather testing is
done, more cold weather validation over this winter. Kia showing off their EV5 Weekender concept,
making it look more rugged for those outdoorsy types. Rivian say they have corrected a software
fault that saw some Rivian drivers with their state of charge, even as high as 20%,
suddenly changed to zero and leave them stranded. And Volkswagen say they can cut costs of
their future EVs by teaming up with China. And that's briefly.
