GM stands for General Motors, a big car company in the United States that makes many different brands of cars. They are focusing on making more electric cars in the future.
Plug-in hybrids are cars that use both gas and electricity. You can charge them like an electric car, but they also have a gas engine to help when the battery runs out.
The Tesla Model Y is an electric SUV made by Tesla. It's popular and sells a lot of units, helping Tesla maintain a large share of the car market in the US.
The Tesla Cybertruck is an electric truck from Tesla that has a unique, futuristic design. It hasn't sold as many units as Tesla hoped, with only a small number sold recently.
Full self-driving is a feature from Tesla that was supposed to let cars drive themselves. Now, you can only access it by paying a subscription instead of buying it outright.
The General Motors EV1 was an early electric car made by GM in the 1990s. It was important because it showed that electric cars could be practical and fun to drive, even though it was only available for a short time and is no longer made.
The Mazda MX-30 is Mazda's first all-electric car. It has a modern design and uses sustainable materials, but some people think it doesn't go as far on a single charge as other electric cars.

BYD C-Line 5
The BYD C-Line 5 is a type of car that can run on electricity or gasoline. This means you can drive it using just electric power for short trips, and switch to gasoline for longer journeys.
Electric range is how far a car can go using only electricity before it needs to be plugged in to charge again. It's an important number for electric cars.

GM's boss, Mary Barra, calls the fully electric lineup at GM their end game but
admits that the hybrid hedge is on with plug-in hybrids coming into their range from 2027.
But there's a huge caveat.
Mary Barra herself admits people just don't charge plug-in hybrids and that makes them
even more polluting than just pure combustion cars because you're carrying around more weight.
Tesla is cooling its sales in the US but still so big.
It's always a good reminder to me being over here.
It's 60% of the US market despite drops in the fourth quarter.
Tesla delivered around 138,000 vehicles, a 60% share of the US market.
Year over year down about 7% but not catastrophic.
Model Y does all the heavy lifting.
Cybertruck selling only 4,000 units in the entire quarter.
Tesla has killed off full self-driving as a thing you can buy.
It's no longer an asset.
Like everything these days, you gotta subscribe to it from Valentine's Day.
February 14th Musk said, sorry, Mr Musk, the CEO, I should be more respectful,
of Tesla saying that they're removing the option to buy it.
It will only be a subscription at $99 which they could lower further if the uptake is not quick enough.
EV Go is rolling out thousands of fast charges at Kroger family of store locations.
First one's now live in Salt Lake City in Utah.
I think EV Go is about 4,600 charges right now.
They want by 2029 a significant improvement, 15,000.
Republican EV hostility has fallen over the last couple of years.
Although 49% of Republicans surveyed in this data point by EVs for all America.
Still find Republicans saying that EVs are for people who see the world differently.
Can't tell you how much I hate hearing that because the last thing in the world that should
be political is what moves your car forwards and backwards.
You know, go buy petrol, go buy diesel, go buy electric.
Who cares what's under the bonnet of your car?
But that's the world we live in thanks to the current round of politics.
At least in the US, it's not political here or in most other countries.
But it is sadly in the US.
Now that is becoming slightly less for Republicans who are looking at EVs a little more favorably.
67% view Elon Musk in a positive way.
So a slight unwinding of partisan hostility, but by no means completely over.
Let's hasten that should we get back to the days when it was just a car with a battery.
Foxcom, the maker of iPhones, ZF Foxcon chassis modules is the company,
opening a new plant in Debrecen.
They are going to make those Hungarian axles for BMW Neuer-class vehicles.
Next time you go past or even buy a BMW iX3 or an i3, the three series,
the axles come from the same people that put iPhones together.
Albeit in Hungary in one of the companies they invested in.
Kia confirm they might look at an EV1 around 2030.
Lots to get the head around because it's getting more expensive to build small cars.
Everything getting a bit bigger because of increasing safety standards and that's a good thing.
But does small city cars that are never going to hit the motorways need all of the expensive
sensors and safety toys of much faster cars?
Well that's a question for Europe who might need to create a special category of small cars
to encourage smaller cheaper EVs. EV1 could be coming confirmed by the bosses there.
Mazda killing off the MX-30 with its range extended engine.
And finally BYD's C-Line 5 plug-in hybrid arrives in the UK on February the 7th with
56 miles of all electric range and that's briefly.
