in less than five minutes.
If you haven't got time for the full podcast,
let's get you up to speed.
Genesis has unfailed the GV60 Magma Edition,
a 650 horsepower dual motor Halo EV
that launches the Magma performance sub brand
to rival AMGs and BMWMs.
The car trades ultimate range and long distance
for things like design refinement and also sportiness.
Price positioning that will squarely establish
the GV60 Magma as a premium player in Europe
and the United States around $75,000.
Leap motor is fast tracking a refresh,
a second generation of its T03 tiny city car,
a segment vehicle, after somewhat muted sales,
exposed the limits of cheap Chinese EV cars
coming into Europe.
The reboot overhauls design, cabin and software,
and hoping that a more European focused T3
at still 16 grand or less can arrive
before new entrants make it look dated.
Peugeot has ditched the pure combustion version
of its 408 and updated the range
on its E408.
Using the older EMP2 platform,
not the newer STLA stuff from Stellantis,
they've added vehicle to load,
a tidy, a techier, fastback SUV shape as well
that charges at okay speeds
and offers good practicality and polish as well.
It looks a good car, this.
The Skoda Peak PEAQ.
Obviously Skoda car names have Q in them.
The Peak is their new seven seater.
This is gonna be their most expensive model,
more so than the Eniac.
On the MEB platform, it's gonna be a three row seven seater,
but a lot less money than a Kia EV9
or a Hyundai Enic 9 or a Volvo EV90, sorry, EX90.
Tesla is adding a seven seat version of the Model Y
in the United States,
but not the one that everyone was calling for.
This is not the Model Y L, the longer wheelbase,
proper three row car that the Chinese get.
This is just some folds down third row seats
for a two and a half thousand dollar option
refreshed in the US for the Model Y,
which is fine for people that don't have legs.
There really is no room back there to actually sit in them.
However, they've also done some other tweaks
like put the new dark headliner in to the US cars
and that's a good update
because it looked way, way better.
Honda has priced their new Super 1 EV.
This is the little Honda NE1 car that is in Japan.
Rolling out in Singapore, this will make you smile.
It's a little 30 kilowatt hour, K car, 70 kilowatts,
little 15 inch dinky alloy wheels
and some round headlights, so cute.
But it costs the equivalent of 140,000 US dollars
because of their rationing of their certificates
to put cars on the road over there.
That's S class money for a tiny car.
Chinese brands doubled their UK market share
in December last year to 18.2% MG Cherry BYD,
all powering a 50% sales jump.
Britain's refusal to copy the European Union's
additional tariffs make the UK a really interesting
experimental market for Chinese to roll into.
Prague is going to set some hard deadlines
to go electric with their taxi fleet.
Many Chinese cities did this years ago.
It works really well.
Ride hailing rules and taxi fleets
mean that Prague's taxi fleet has grown
from about 3,000 vehicles a decade ago to 16,000 cabs.
Now they're already old and they're dirty.
The old Euro four, Euro five rules.
And so setting a hard deadline of 2030
for any taxi or ride hailing vehicle
to be all electric in Prague.
That's a really good idea.
And finally, could this be an example
of politicians getting something right?
Here we have a really unfair system.
If I charge at home, I pay 5% VAT tax.
If I charge publicly, literally down the road,
I have to pay 20%.
And for people who don't have home charging,
whose apartment blocks don't let them have charges,
it's simply unfair.
The government has refused to look at this issue.
But new reports today say that ministers
are now seriously considering cutting the public charging rate
to make things equitable and fair.
And so they should.
That's briefly.
Let's do the 60 second savings challenge.
Step one, download rocket money.
Step two, link your accounts
