This is tied to reversing course on its EV strategy.
Much of the write down will cover the cost of cancelling EVs
and compensating supplier contracts.
As the new chief executive blames the old one for going all in on EVs.
Many customers of Stellantis, particularly in the US actually,
would also blame a product mix that wasn't right.
Quality that wasn't there.
We have some brands over here that are doing pretty good sales.
Actually, Voxel, Opel, Peugeot and more
have had some sales success at that low to mid end
but the kind of stuff that Stellantis wanted to sell my American listeners
wasn't really market competitive.
They blame operational mistakes and executions.
They're thinking again, winding back its battery investments
and leaning back into combustion, pollution, V8 engines
to try and help the RAM brand how well that works out.
We'll wait and see.
Polestar has added Tesla Supercharges to its plug and charge app as well.
Plug and charge now offers 28,000 stations across Europe
where you haven't got to leave the Polestar ecosystem.
20,000 new Tesla Supercharges at 1,500 locations
now go into the app alongside many of the other platforms
and networks as well.
Not one that I use as a Polestar driver.
I've got it on the phone.
I think I've used it once to try it.
I tend to use the Octopus app
because it puts it on my home lekkie bill
but plug surfing on which the Polestar stuff sits is all really good stuff.
Now, what EV has upgraded its truck charging depot in San Bernardino, California
lifting the site to 11 megawatts of total charging capacity
they say there is now enough throughput at that site
to pretty much be similar to what a truck volume diesel stop would do
but the problem is still grid connections
for a 10 to 20 megawatt grid connection.
It can take between seven and 10 years.
You heard that correctly in California
which is why some sites are having to do solar and storage to speed things up.
Norway we know is pretty much at 100% EV
over the year 96% last year some months a lot higher
but how many petrol cars were sold in Norway last month in January?
Well, the data's out and I can tell you Norway registered
seven new petrol cars over the entire month of January.
It's an exclusive club if you want to drive combustion now in Norway.
If you bought one it's you and six other people in the entire country.
Of course, still many cars on the road in the car park
of cars driving around for decades while they're serviceable
that will still be polluting and not EVs
and so that's why it's important to go EV as quick as possible
at the top of the funnel because those cars will be on the road
for a long time.
JQ is doing good business over here in the UK.
In fact, the JQ 7 plug-in hybrid was the second best-selling car
overall last month in January
and that's about 34, 35,000 pounds
right in line with the BYD CLU plug-in hybrid, MGHS.
If you want to plug-in hybrid that's a pretty competitive segment
to go shopping in.
Genesis say they will launch a new bespoke platform next year
that supports their own unique things they need.
Obviously, things like the GV60 use the Hyundai 800V architecture
and that's really, really good.
The Genesis European Boss framing the change as a bid
for a more distinct feel with Genesis vehicles.
How much of the mothership Kia and Hyundai they tap into
will have to wait and see.
Massachusetts Clean Energy Center launching a new vehicle
to everything demonstration program with five school districts,
30 residences and more, getting the hardware they need
for batteries in vehicles to become grid support,
virtual power plants in other words.
Mercedes-AMG unveiling their electric SUV Coupe
in 2027, another car on their own platform.
The AMG.DA architecture, they say that it will charge
at 850 kilowatts charge speed.
That's huge, that's briefly.
