We'll start with news of Tesla delivering
the standard Model Ys.
The first ones are now in customers' hands,
made in Giga, Texas.
Giga Berlin will make it as well for Europe.
No news on China at the moment.
Standard Model Y is EPA at 321 miles range
and seven seconds, 0-60.
That's perfectly good enough.
Hardware 4, they say, is the hardware needed
for full autonomy.
But they said that about hardware 3 as well.
And many of those customers are now coming
to the slow realization of, oh, hang on,
it's not going to be good enough.
Also is the spin-off company from Rivian, A-L-S-O.
Full stop is how it's stylized, which is okay
if you see it in print.
But for a podcaster, it's a bit rubbish
because that's the word we use to join two sentences.
But also the company unveiled a couple of e-bikes.
Their new e-bike, which uses an electric drive.
It's a pedal assist, but the pedals,
a bit like an e-rev car, actually.
The pedals charge the battery and a motor moves you forward.
Amazon also showing off a four-wheel version of it,
which shares the same DNA as the two-wheeled Rivian bike,
but carries 400 pounds of packages
for city-centered deliveries and last mile.
Very, very cool stuff.
GM raised their core outlook up to 13 billion
of profit this year.
The market liked it.
They're moving back from some of their EV investments,
which has gone down very well with investors.
One of those decisions has been to end Bright's drop.
Now they were making them in Canada,
but recent pictures showed them piled up in the parking lot
on either side of the Canadian border as well,
and Bright's drop production has stopped.
They blame the Trump tariffs.
Porsche's McCann now comes in a GTS flavor.
This thing is just next level,
a bit like the McCann Turbo.
Huge battery, 100 kilowatt hour.
It's obviously dual motor, all-wheel drive,
3.6 seconds to 60, active air suspension,
lower ride heights, rear axle steering.
Next level stuff from Porsche with the McCann,
very impressive, at a time when Porsche
is also trying to walk back some of their electric promises
and reassure investors, oh no, no,
we're all about combustion in the future, you see.
Which again, the market seems to like,
and at the same time, they're making great EVs.
Bit of a contradiction at Porsche.
Used EV leasing is exploding in the UK.
Obviously depreciation over the last three years
has been one of the stories of EVs,
and so leasing companies trying to get out from under that
by releasing used EVs when they come back into stock.
And that's exploding here with salary sacrifice
and business contract hire as well.
And you know, why not?
A three-year-old EV is still a very impressive thing
to add to your driveway.
Diesel share is below 10% in Europe,
Western Europe in September.
In the UK, we're below 5%.
Now, crazy, that a fuel 20 years ago,
which was seen as a low CO2, future of transport.
So many car makers have got diesel tech
that they spent money on investing, R&D,
that they'd love you to buy,
but people don't wanna buy diesels.
And it's dying a, I said quite a death here in Europe.
Actually, a very, very quick death.
Diesel will be a footnote in the automotive industry
before too long.
Eaton is adding to bi-directional vehicle to X,
or vehicle to green, really.
Fast Chargers, the DC 30s, a 30 kilowatt charger.
Also, the Duo is a wallbox that'll charge two cars at once.
France and Spain have written to ministers
to say, don't listen to the car industry.
France and Spain both say the 2035 pure combustion ban
in Europe should stick.
The auto industry is being very vocal
and lobbying very hard for that to be extended.
France and Spain both saying Paris and Madrid,
this is the date, the line in the sand,
we need to invest accordingly.
Don't fall for some of the arguments
that it can't be done, it absolutely can.
And Rivian unveiling their Halloween update.
Now the Gen 2 cars get the majority of the updates,
but otherwise, new sound and lighting effects
for some spooky Halloween stuff for Rivian owners.
