Granger, for the ones who get it done.
It's EV News briefly for Tuesday 20th of January.
Everything EV in less than five minutes.
If you haven't got time for the full podcast,
it's 25 minutes long today.
Let's get you up to speed.
Volvo will show off the EX-60 tomorrow.
Very important because the EX-C60,
the incumbent sold 230,000 units last year.
Well, it's leaked already.
If someone has taken screenshots of the promo video,
they're gonna show up the launch tomorrow.
And you know, it's a big deal that it's leaked,
but you'll be pleased to hear it looks like an electric Volvo.
You know how the EX-90 and the EX-30 look?
Well, if they had a baby,
it's kind of halfway between them.
We'll get the full launch details tomorrow.
Scotter's surge into Europe's top tier is happening.
They were up 12% last year.
Scotter in Europe's doing really well,
doing really well worldwide.
Bev Deliveries, BEV.
Doubled to 175,000.
Total plug-in vehicles at Scotter.
220,000 almost for 2025.
And that's without the two new launches they've got coming.
There's the Epic, EPI Q and Peak.
That's P-E-A-Q.
That's gonna be the big three-year-old family
electric vehicle all built on Volkswagen's MEB, of course,
but Scotter are making that work
and doing good numbers.
Also doing good numbers, Ireland.
The EV market in 2026
got off to a great start, up 50% year on year so far
thanks to the data coming out of Nevo.ie.
Today, thanks to Derek Riley from Nevo
for sending this one on.
He puts it down to a rollout of infrastructure in Ireland,
which is regionally broad, limerick, sleigo,
leading the growth up 120% more connectors
in the pipeline, 160 are being built this year.
That's great news for my Irish listeners.
Now, Tesla is putting an expiry date on transferring FSD.
If you bought it, not subscribed to it,
well, if you bought it, did you really buy it?
You can't take it with you if you buy a new Tesla
after March 31st.
This has kind of been on again, off again.
It looks like this is the last time they'll do that,
but I guess it could be extended.
Tesla Canada, it has contacted all the owners
that are just about to get their Model Ys
in early February and said,
we're not gonna deliver them, maybe in the summer.
That's huge if you're a guy,
sort of the insurance, the finance,
and Canadian buyers of Teslas won't get them
because the tariff being cut from 100%,
down to 6%, changes everything.
Maybe they could bring them in from Shanghai now.
I mean, if you get a cheaper car, maybe it's okay,
but gutted, a new car time is really special.
And then to be told, sorry, it's not coming.
Tesla will rework where vehicles
come into Canada from.
There's that 49,000 limit as well,
so I'm sure all the car makers will want
to get cars in quickly to get their slice of the pie.
Speaking of which, the association there,
Canadian vehicle manufacturers,
spoke out very harshly on that decision,
saying it's deeply disappointed
in allowing EVs from China in.
That's the association that represents the Detroit three.
Smart's new boss is the German boss
getting promoted to run smart in Europe.
Got a big job to do because they were down last year
by quite a big amount.
There should be a smart hashtag two coming at some point.
That smart hashtag five is a really lovely midsize SUV,
but not cutting through with buyers at the moment.
In Switzerland, there'll be 115 new battery electric buses.
A big new order with Solaris.
The MG4 is being updated and not the one in China,
which has been completely redesigned,
but this is the existing MG4.
Great platform, it's on the modular scalable platform,
rear wheel drive, great chassis,
updated in Brazil already.
So we know what we're getting at over here in Europe,
which is basically the insides of the MG S5,
and that's a good thing.
BYD's C-Lion 8 is a family plug-in hybrid
coming to Australia for $57,000 before on-road costs,
and Acer showing off their new e-scooter,
500 watt rear hub motor.
It's got ABS and regen,
and it's for EU and US buyers coming at about 700 euros.
That's briefly.
