Practice qualifying is basically practice runs meant to get ready for qualifying. Drivers use it to learn how the car feels and how fast they can go before the official qualifying session.
Road America is a well-known road course in the U.S., famous for long straights, heavy braking zones, and fast, flowing corners. For racers, it’s a benchmark track where setup and tire management can make a big difference.
Concept
sink the ship
“Sink the ship” is a racing-team metaphor for how quickly a program can fall apart when results, funding, or momentum slip. In motorsports, small setbacks can snowball because you need consistent development, sponsorship, and operational stability to keep improving.
A “start” is an official race appearance where the car begins the event (typically from the grid or pit lane). “Record tying start 547” indicates the driver matched a long-standing series record for the number of races started, which is a measure of longevity and consistency.
O’Reilly is a major U.S. auto-parts retailer that sponsors and supports motorsports programs. When mentioned alongside “starts” and records, it’s typically tied to a series or event sponsorship identity.
A paint scheme is the specific livery design—colors, graphics, and sponsor placement—applied to the race car. In series like NASCAR-style racing, schemes are often tied to sponsors, special events, or tributes and can be a major part of the car’s identity.
A throwback scheme is a livery designed to reference an earlier era of a driver’s career or a past car. Teams use it for nostalgia and branding, often matching the look of a specific historic car or sponsor arrangement.
The Buick Grand National is a fast, sporty car made by Buick in the early 1980s. It used a turbocharged engine to make more power than many cars of its time. People bring it up because it was a well-known performance model during that period.
Connor Zillich is another NASCAR driver mentioned for comparison. The hosts are basically saying his early hype didn’t translate the same way as Jesse Love’s longer track record.
Josh Berry is a NASCAR driver being talked about. The hosts think he’s been unlucky and that wherever he goes next, he should still be able to perform consistently.
In NASCAR, “the chase” is the playoff part of the season. Drivers who are high enough in the season standings get a chance to fight for the championship.
“Points” are how NASCAR keeps track of who’s doing well across the whole season. Finishing better in races earns more points, and those totals help decide who gets into the playoff chase.
Toyota is referenced here as the manufacturer that Legacy Motor Club is becoming “more familiar” with, implying a stronger alignment with Toyota’s program. In NASCAR, manufacturer support can affect engine/technical direction, parts, and overall team development.
LIVE
What is up ladies and gentlemen welcome on into another edition of bringing heat with
Tray Lyle I am the man the myth legend Tray Lyle I don't know why I would call myself
that that's you know I'm I'm trying to be humble but sometimes you don't have to be
speaking of not being humble man you probably shouldn't be humble this weekend but typically
always is is Jeremy Clements who will now break the record of Kenny Wallace for the most
starts in the NASCAR or Raleigh Auto Parts series this past weekend when he timed the record at
Pocono our very own Steven Stump sat down with him so we'll play that conversation for you now
as Jeremy Clements heads into the Inferno now it's time for will they get the white flag
that will end the race Jeremy Clements is going to win a Daytona to go into the Inferno with
Tray all right well we're here at Pocono Jeremy historic start for you first want to go back
from the beginning screwing up when did you first get into racing when you become a fan and
when did you realize you wanted to drive I was a young kid and I was in racing just because
around being my around my grandfather and in my family you know because of the the race all the
racing they were doing and my dad was racing and uncle my grandfather was helping
them and bring me the racetrack and then yeah just grew a love for it very early on I had a yard
car in a yard with my brother Jason and we would ride around and I'd be like getting my dad to watch
me so I degrade me and you know just acting like I was racing in real life and I was wearing
racing NASCAR shirts to school as a second third grader every day so yeah just been just loved
to ever since then and start racing when I was seven my grandfather Crawford got me a go car
a racing go car started taking Jason out of the racetrack each and every week so that that's
really what started me but yeah just just loved it very early on and that's that's what I wanted
to do my whole life basically like I never played any other sports or anything your first your first
now a Riley race was in 2003 at bikespeak at 18 just how big of an accomplishment was that for you
and just how what what do you remember about that day just and just what it was like and how
different it feels compared to today uh yeah it was uh looking back I mean it was I was excited but
we were so far in over our head I mean you know we bought an old car and tried that we were here
and they weren't gonna have enough cars to make that race we had been racing Samarka been doing
well on that and just wanted to try it you know obviously see how we were see how good we could
do and we were yeah it just wasn't prepared so yeah it was cool to do it but like it was wish we
could have been better prepared okay and then I didn't make another start for like four years or
something you made a couple starts you know sporadically at the end of the decade 2011 was
the first year you became a full-time owner driver what made that what made this you know
decision to be an owner driver and also what had to happen for you to take that lead you know I had
done some practice qualifying stuff for Gibbs when they were the Kyle and Bush and Joey Logano
were were racing for them their teams and in 0809 I sat in their office and heard how much it was
to drive those cars it was impossible for me to get that kind of funding and yeah that just the
opportunity was there just never had the big funding behind me to put me in the seat so
this was the next best option just to keep you know I'd always had my own race team really
so just keep on going that route because it was way cheaper to do it obviously
you're not going to be as competitive by no means so that's frustrating but just thought maybe we could
put some good finishes together maybe get recognition and then maybe get me in a good seat
but yeah it's just tough this is a tough series and it's always been tough but it's been a
it's been a great place to be you know we we moved from Arca to here and we were running up front in Arca
but the payout was just terrible so you couldn't you couldn't even win and sustain it so we had to
we had to make a financial decision like we want to keep racing we needed to go this route
this was the best series that we could afford that would pay that would keep us afloat even with
you know a few sponsors on the car so really that's why we chose this series and been here
ever since really so it's but man it went it's going from a top running arca team to a mid-pack
you know a rally team that's tough you did you have managed to win two races though here huge
accomplishments especially as owner driver now and nowadays just what's kind of the journey
been like last 15 years how does being an owner driver now compared to what's back then and just
what are the just the highs and lows of you know the journey since then yeah I mean I remember it was
they 2011 we just switched to the to the new car and we were racing the whole season with two cars
that was extremely tough and yeah just trying to piece it together year by year
get better equipment better cars try to get more people you know we were racing we were all riding
in the hauler like it was it was tough man you know we were doing everything we could to race
and did that for a number of years and felt like just trying to learn what we needed each year
you know I mean I never even raced the road course till 2011 we were full time in this series so
now it was Road America to go so what I'm saying is we just try to learn what we would need and
we and we did obviously because we went to Road America one there so that was a big accomplishment
and yeah just like I said just trying to see what can make us better you know and but but not go under
I've seen a lot of comers and goers in this sport they come in and they're here for a season or two
and then they're gone and and it's it I can see why it's very easy to sink the ship
but you managed to make it all this time now you know record tying start 547 first of all you
got the you got the really awesome paint scheme this weekend just with the county passing the torch
who's I whose idea was that how did that come to be we were wanting to do something to honor Kenny
he's had this record for 10 years roughly or nine uh maybe you know you'll you can look that up I
don't know something like that since 2016 so that is not 10 years sorry I think uh yeah that's
so yeah we wanted to do something to honor him we looked at maybe doing a throwback scheme of his
car that race but didn't that didn't didn't really work out so then yeah just talking to my designer
michael macelli he does an amazing job with all our schemes and we came up he came up really with
this idea and he he's like I can I can do it it's just gonna take some time and and I was like I
don't want to waste your time because it's very valuable so yes let's let's go for it our all
sub electric chuck coon partner is is usually on board for 97% of the schemes we give him so
we did it and he was all on man I think it's an awesome looking scheme and you know we're we're
wanting to honor Kenny and I love Kenny Wallace great funny awesome dude great race car driver
guys spent a lot of time with him back when he raced here in the series and
um yeah so it's gonna it's just honoring him really did he uh give did he give you congratulations
give you the thumb of seal of approval for that yeah yeah so I texted him once it got it got uh
made and and sent it his way and he he was like man that's badass so yeah we got his approval okay
um so start 547 now start 5
start 548 next next week at San Diego just you know what's it gonna mean to you know break
that record and also just how cool is it gonna be doing it in that track as well yeah it's gonna
be a big weekend for sure I mean not just because of uh breaking the record but like racing on a
able base is is really something special that I've never done I don't yeah none of us have
ever done so it'd be a lot of uh challenges ahead that we don't know I feel like so it'd be
interesting to say the least to how that this race plays out but uh yeah just going in having
really no idea how this track's gonna drive and everything and um how comfortable you'll
bowl you'll be the track looks very challenging very rough so yeah which going and seeing
making the best of it and I am excited to be there and do it
probably gotta go for his end so last two quick questions first uh now that you're gonna reach
548 what's gonna be the next start milestone for you and um do you see yourself being a
owner even after you whenever you decide to hang up now no I don't know I don't really have a
forecast for any of that I just I love racing getting to do what I want to do
which is racing and don't really see uh stopping it anytime soon as long as I can keep the car
funded and my butt in it that's that's what I want uh and then the second question I I don't know
I just love the driving the most the the ownership part is just I don't know I have to do it to be
here so I don't know if I if I will do that but I'll think about that down the road
thanks so much to Stephen thanks so much to Jerry congrats Jeremy congratulations to Jeremy
Clements on becoming the all-time starts leader for the NASCAR Raleigh Auto Parts series obviously
two wins in his career one on a road course so maybe he could get it done this weekend
in San Diego well there's a lot of news that broke this week and we need a bringing in our
good pal Chris Graham to help it break it down with what's still hot it's time to
upgrade you on the latest news in NASCAR bring in to the program Chris Graham he helps me produce
this he helps produce he's my you know ash ashan shea whatever you want to say number two this if
you want to if you are upset about a front stretch podcast you can sort of blame us but I always say
blame Brian Nolan Brian Timothy Dale Nolan please yeah if you like it then it's because of these
two guys right here this that's exactly right but make sure you check out the latest episode a happy
hour great great episode honoring the life of Steve Wade amongst other great things as well so do
want to begin with a quick word about the former front stretcher Steve Wade long time NASCAR journalist
passed away this week sending thoughts and prayers to his family to his friends and
Chris I know you were part of the conversation or you know we're part of happy hour last night
this is a man who is a true icon when it comes to motorsports journalists in NASCAR yeah I
he was one of those guys I grew up reading last night on the show Massey showed off a
grand national scene newspaper from 1983 and I'm going that was a year after I was born and
Massey was alive then so Massey was alive then but that was one of the guys I grew up reading
like that he was must read it was him it was David pool and there was a handful of others that I
would say were kind of the deans of the NASCAR journalists and man he's one of those guys that
really changed the game and I will say illness sucks because that too too young of a man to pass
the way he did but yeah he was he was one of the best it was indeed and speaking of illness
it's going to be part of my final thoughts which will be motorsports adjacent for my final thoughts
on this but let's get to what Steve Wade would want us to talk about which is the latest news
in NASCAR in silly season heated up this week we got a little bit last week with Josh Barry
leaving the 21 but a name we recklessly speculated about was Chris Busher he ends up signing a
multi-year extension with RFK Racing this felt like a slam dunk Chris this is a guy who's won at
RFK has sort of been kind of the stalwart of RFK you know he had those couple years at front row
but he won a championship at the XFINITY level he's sort of been in this like you know post
prime peak RFK you know with the Carl Edwards, Greg Biffle, Matt Kinzeth's Ryan you know of the
world he became kind of the face of the organization even with Brad coming in and I feel like Chris on
a talent level is up there with some of the best I think he proved it you know ironically at a road
course by outdoing SVG that one time he's won at Bristol this is a it felt like a slam
dunk signing for RFK and you know a really really nice move really nice reward for a guy who is
performed at a high level for them yeah I think Chris Busher is the I'm going to say kind of one
of the last pieces that really had to fall into place for silly season here because he he is at
least of a talent that you go I can see him being in demand elsewhere with RFK locking him in
and one of the other signings that I know has happened in the last 24 hours or so you've kind
of really knocked in locked in where all the cup rides available for next season are outside of
maybe something towards the back of the grid and Chris Busher I think is is a great call for RFK
to hold on to speaking of what could be an art a good good signing the Wood Brothers announced
today as we record this on Wednesday Jesse Love going to replace Josh Berry in the 21 this felt
like something in which we discussed Ford not having any young drivers in their pipeline I mean
I think JJ Yealy is still residing as the highest points scoring forward than in the O'Reilly series
you know with Haas leaving Ford with everything going on I think that's still true if I'm not
mistaken as I I can Google this real quick I just I laugh while you Google I laugh because
I don't even think Ford exists in the O'Reilly series at this point I mean it's there there is no
you made a comment about their pipeline the reality is their pipeline is everybody else
they don't need one they just take whomever they want yes it's JJ Yealy currently sitting 33rd in
points um but they grabbed Jesse Love obviously he would I guess the other favorite for to replace
Kyle Busch if Kyle Busch was set to leave RCR obviously tragedy aside they were it was going
to be Kyle Busch's seat and they're still now in opening with the 33 car but this feels like a big
time signing for the Wood Brothers the last time it felt like they got a young driver I guess was
Harrison Burton but also you look at the time before that the last time they signed a young
driver it was Brian Blaney that one worked out this feels like in terms of this this feels like a
big swing by Pinsky and the Wood Brothers and Ford in nabbing maybe the best Chevy prospect
if you want to call it in the in the O'Reilly auto parts shares I think this is a big big
loss for Chevrolet uh in the irregardless of which NASCAR series you want to be talking about
Jesse Love is a big big talent um I would say even probably a better talent outright than what
we saw from Connor Zillich and Connor Zillich came in with a ton of hype Jesse Love is that good
and he's been in stock cars a lot longer than we've seen Connor Zillich be so ironically they're
best of friends yeah uh and I think that's Jesse Love is a huge pickup for Ford and the Wood Brothers
I think it makes that 21 maybe not instantly competitive again because the Penske's haven't
been all that great of late um you know Blaney is good but Joey Logano's you know back half of the
top 10 kind of car right now so I think that's kind of where the standard is that Jesse Love has
to fit into and and I think he could take a Wood Brothers car to the back end of the top 10
on a pretty consistent basis I mean it showed race winning speed less than a year or well
I guess a little more than a year ago at this point in Vegas last year and honestly I think
Josh Berry I would argue more than luck uh has faced a lot of bad luck whether it's D&S and
Ford just taking a natural downturn um I think whatever car he goes into uh I think he has a
pretty safe uh I'll just say floor uh with a certain junior motorsports in the NASCAR Rally
Auto Part Series I just uh I feel like that would be his floor uh I could see him still getting a
cup ride because he is one at the cup level which again that's a that's a big thing uh but uh Jesse
Love a good move there well a guy who's won a lot uh in the NASCAR Cup Series and a lot of championships
and also I will have to say had a lot of fun this weekend in Le Mans uh was Jimmy Johnson
if you have not seen the video please uh it's circulating on Twitter please please go see it
please do so TNT announced its broadcast team uh for for this upcoming season and not a lot of
changes Marty Smith coming in um as the studio host uh he the Shannon Spake going over to the
pit reporting side uh they do lose uh it appears Alan Kovana is not back uh shout out to Alan he's
he was a former happy hour guest is is does great work with PRN um but uh maybe to the surprise
news Jimmy Johnson set to join the TNT sports team uh we've seen Jimmy Dew TV whether it's Fox
I think he's did an indie at least one Indy 500 he did some stuff with NBC I believe before with
the Indy 500 um I feel like this is a really nice get for TNT also we're going to get to Legacy
Motor Club you get the owner of a team where it feels like Legacy Motor Club really is on the
ascent and you get a you know he you get kind of the inside of why you know maybe the surprise
team in the last month has been ascending the way they had uh yeah and I unless you get Jimmy is
banged up as he was on the Lamar interview it's not like he's going better well I was just saying
he's not going to spill any you know trade secrets here he's not going to spill the beans on why
Legacy Motor Club is running better with that being said I think there is a lot of there's a win in
getting a current Toyota team owner there is a winner it's a win in getting a current um
cup series driver I mean he's driving this weekend in San Diego final race right
the 500 will be his final race I believe um honestly this is not a knock on the rest of the
of the TNT crew because I think it's actually a really good crew they put together but can we
please just get Marty Smith Dale Jr. Jimmy Johnson and a 30 rack of bushlight that's all we need
it's gotta be bud bud I don't care whatever I mean just let them pick their poison
Marty Smith would say just cold beer which he said and I quote to me in an ACC
tournament uh he enjoys himself some cold beer so those three guys sitting in the booth talking
racing for three hours would be a blast I I can't wait we got a car in the wall
some some broadcast partner is going to figure this out that less is more in a lot of instances
I don't need 47 different versions of the cutaway car and six different eye racing views of the
street circuit and I we don't need this stuff we need guys that are passionate about the sport
and girls for that matter passionate about the sport talking throwing it down to
a pile of kick-ass pit reporters having Shannon's bake down there is a big win for for TNT having
her on pit road Jamie little is fantastic on pit road let the really great pit reporters do the
pit reporter job and man let's just talk racing for three hours that'd be fun it would be fun
indeed speaking of fun during TNT I I think they did it better this year or how they set the bracket
they just did a cut they didn't do an average of the races they just did the points as they
ran after poking out the in season challenge bracket is set and as you throw it up here
we'll make predictions next week chris uh for it because we do have a week to decide it's not getting
decided this week um funniest parts of the bracket one i think obvious ty dylan denny hamlin
matched up again and two shout to ryan priest with just some great content of the guy walking in
from the you know as an it's a nicolodean cartoon walking and seeing has to face svg and walking
right out because it does start at sonoma uh any other takeaways from this uh this bracket um
there's a few um i'm really surprising to me that alex bowman is seated as low as he is
i mean i know he hasn't been having a great season but i didn't think he was having that
bad of a season i think it's the miss races that helped hold him down very well could be but i think
you know there is the potential for an alex bowman upset of tyler retic in round one which
i have to say would be kind of comical um looking at the you know uh host of our versus smith
battle i think that one's an interesting one because this is starting on a road course
there's i think you're going to have some surprises bubba wallis versus mcdowl
bubba is he got an uphill row in that boat to try to get past mcdowl in round one um other than
that i don't know i think there's a whole lot of potentially chalk that's going to happen here
at least early in this bracket we'll see yes indeed and you would have said that and then of
course ty dylan upset denny hamlin um uh you know in the first round last year and it could happen
again uh ty dylan got all the way to the final last year i mean i don't know if that will happen
again but it could happen again i just need a couple big wrecks to yes you need you need some
shenanigans to happen but that's also i think i love the concept of this kind of in season
challenge thing because it puts a million bucks on the line that none of these most of these
drivers aren't really going to care about winning a million bucks they're multimillionaires anyway
but it gives something that we can talk about and what would be kind of the doldrums of summer
part of the season you're not to the run up into the chase you're not talking about the
playoff package and whatever that's going to look like it gives us something where we can
highlight 32 different drivers at going into sonoma that's a big storyline and as that runs along
until we get to what is it indianapolis i think is the the final race um you know you're you're
talking about adding maybe a little bit to a brickyard 400 race that sometimes is a bit of a
snoozer yeah it could be indeed obviously one last year by ty gibbs a man who might make a sneaky
big run in this might be uh one of trey's picks to go deep is now our focus of the sound by the
week let's go to eric jones who's been performing well lately well tony what angered you at the
end of the race what did you take issue with what the hell do you think i was mad about
dumb little runs us clear down to the infield he wants to about everybody else and he's one
it drives like a little i'm gonna bust his ass thanks tony thank you and short track races it's
time for the sound bites of the week you have the performance so you know this is yeah the best
we've been in a long time as a group but it does carry on the more you can run better each week the
more it's going to roll into the next one and you're going to keep that roll and just get
more comfortable more confident making better moves better adjustments and it's all going to
you know start to come together more and more six place double top six for legacy just you know
how impressive a performance was that for you in the 42 today yeah i mean we had two fast cars
all week practice qualify race and um you know so happy with that uh grab for the 42 to finally get a
result you know they've been getting caught up in a lot of other people's messes and um finally a
clean day but just another clean day for us really nothing um nothing spectacular just good execution
and making the most of what we had today and coming home in six do you feel like this is the
team is the best it's been in since 2022 yeah i can't think of another time we we've had this pace
and i don't know that we even had quite this pace in 22 um we would show it at times but this has
been a pretty consistent stretch of just being you know really strong having been a lot of speed
and uh and contending and running up front so yeah it's it's been a long time i don't know
that i've ever had a stretch quite this good maybe years ago at 20 but um it's nice to be running up
front it is nice to be running up front and that's what legacy motor club is doing eric jones uh you
know we talked about points earlier is actually in line to make the chase if it started today i don't
like neph would hate that uh but he he is surged as of late uh he's currently sits at 15th in points
tied with austin centric uh for 16th uh chris this this feels like uh you know the you mentioned
i think we've talked about like the 24 new investors it feels like legacy is uh you know this is a
team that didn't ask for joh give support right hand they changed kind of their executive team
this upcoming year got some more people familiar with toyota and it just appears to me that uh
legacy is now arrived as a uh at least a credible team and i think eric jones truly can make
the chase at this point with the way they're performing yeah i'm i'm very happy to see this
for that jones boy because he's he's one of the nicer guys in the garage area um and quite frankly
maybe hasn't always had the best stuff so to really see him blossom with legacy motor club
the way they are it's kind of like both are are starting to have a bit of a resurgence um it's
it's one thing to make the chase it's another thing to do something while you're there uh
and we can have those discussions about the top of the points table as well but ultimately if you
get in the chase and you know you're going to put up three finishes of 25th in that first round
and you know what's the what's the point well not the first round but you know you're you have
to be able to show consistency and and that's something that's consistently inside the top
10 is really what we need to start seeing out of jones and really that whole legacy motor club team
and we'll see if they do it but yeah you have to give jones a lot of credit this is the best
legacy has looked jones has looked real good i mean he's looked i mean there are points where he
looked like he could win the race and obviously there are some tracks ahead especially i look at
darlington if they show the speed at darlington watch out i i would i would pick eric jones to
win that race he's won one of southern five he's very good at darlington uh he obviously has uh
one top 54 top tens on the year uh but showing that consistency that's why he's surging
the point i mean up six spots uh just from pocano uh is is really impressive uh there but uh as
as we wrap up let's uh let's wave that checkered flag and get some final thoughts it's going to be
drag race all the way back to the start finish line no caution they're side by side right to the
line here they come checkered flag the checkered flag is out and it's time for the final thoughts
final thoughts anything you want to rant rave review talk about chris graham the floor is yours
you know you kind of put me on the spot with these because i this is the one segment of the show
that i tried to be creative with and today i just didn't really have any time to to think about how
i wanted to be creative i thought i was producing a show with you and calib uh he had a prior you
know calib's got a prior commitment can you record early yeah i could do that it didn't click that i
was the one coming on the show um but i will give the adaboy to uh to you mr lile you got you got
yourself hitched uh congratulations on that and um man i forgot you weren't here last week
i know i wasn't here last week you've been all over the place um it's it's a whole lot of
of craziness that's going on uh and nice to have some positivity we've had a lot of loss this season
new beginnings are always a good thing to have especially around the world of front stretch
and with that i'm going to plug the the next podcast that i'm producing uh michael bella
femony will be is hosting through the gears for us now i am giving that show a whole new look new
feel i was good i was ready to give a sneak preview tonight with you here but i don't think
we're going to do that for the viewers i think they'll just have to tune in uh but it's it's
going to be a pretty spectacular nascar betting show coming up here uh starting this weekend
i also shout out to michael you got to cover the race at poking on this weekend did a great
job we had erik schnack fill in for him on through the gears which erik did a great job
with that erik did a great job with stock car scoop uh you know i i guess you know as the manager
of pot of podcast you you just i have a good team so i want to shout out my team right here um
so this is not quote-unquote like nascar related but i feel like it falls in the motor sports
on umbrella uh jeremy clarkson now it's on his show clarkson's farm obviously a long time host
of top gear and the grand tour that he was he is diagnosed with prostate cancer uh as someone who
got like deeper of a love of cars just because of watching top gear and this is something i
discovered when i was in college uh top gear and the grand tour and i i do think it's one of
the greatest just pure television shows ever made uh it was you know i i remember go back
and watch the kyle petty appearance with richard hamon uh at i think it was at texas uh which
it which was great um but uh just sending thoughts and prayers to jeremy clarkson and his family
uh because uh the c word uh cancer just sucks and everyone's been affected by it in their family
and uh i i hate to end on this uh but uh i appreciate your positivity chris and i'm just
bringing her down man i'm sorry well no i i i'm gonna kind of spin it around a little bit to
bring it we'll bring it back to a positive note here because those those three clarkson hamon and
because they would put an f1 driver in a reasonably priced car and and the stuff that they did with
you know the hypercars in the holy trinity episode of uh of the grand tour but even the
stuff on top gear like they really helped push modern car culture into a realm that let the
current car culture influencers run with it so guys like the cletus mcfarland's of the world
in the 1320 video guys and it's not just drag racing i'm i'm kind of talking call culture as a
whole but man we don't have that now if it's not for clarkson hamon in may so i'm gonna say thank
you gentlemen because you made my college and post college years freaking awesome and i can't
tie it to nascar mike skinner was the first test driver for the grand tour so we could tie it to
the ugly american who was just a crotchety old prick uh he was awesome in that role it's a shame
that they kind of did him dirty a little bit after the season one yeah well shout shout to the the
grand tour boys all right and it's of course you can get it on prime where we get the final
prime race of the season this week in coronado i feel like we do need a touch on this uh chris
will end on this uh a bonus checkered flag it feels like this is going to be you know i don't
know about the racing i feel like svg is going to kick everyone's butt but it feels like in terms
of a spectacle it's going to be a 10 out of 10 experience on sunday i mean all weekend you have
the the truck race which has star stars littered throughout that's going to be fun to see you have
the o'riley race which will probably be the best race of the weekend because it feels like that will
that's where you get the true spg versus connor zillich duel yeah and and on sunday maybe zillich
can get some luck on his side and duel spg but uh it feels like in terms of just an experience
we're about the this this is going to be probably the most unique one we've seen in the history of
nascar i'm gonna say it's up there um and quite frankly i think the indy car guys will be watching
this closely because they have their own spectacle coming up in dc in a handful of weeks um
this this has the potential to be just cinematically gorgeous you're going to the home of top gun
in san diego where it's always just nice it's kind of my dream job as a kid i want to be the
weather guy in san diego it's going to be nice for the next year um you know those are the kind
of things that you just go man this we're on the ocean we're doing some cool stuff and oh by the
way we're on like you know hanging out with fighter pilots and astronauts and it's this one's going
to be a spectacle for sure and since it is a way to honor the military bryan nul will be there but
most importantly captain in the united states army dalton hofkins will be there so do want to
shout dalton and thank him for his service to this great country so uh but that will do it for us
and for every service member i do want to throw that in there um but that will do it for us today

About this episode
Jeremy Clements’ record-setting run takes center stage as the hosts talk Pocono starts and look ahead to San Diego, where he’s set to break the all-time NASCAR/Raleigh Auto Parts starts mark. Clements explains how funding realities shaped his path to becoming a full-time owner driver in 2011, including moving series when payouts couldn’t sustain winning. The conversation also touches a Kenny Wallace–honoring paint scheme, plus broader “silly season” and broadcast talk.
