I bought it 30 years ago.

So we actually met.

His whole family came.

We talked and caught up on stories and all that.

So I bought it when I was 16.

And so he was coming to the car show and they said,

he didn't know it was Columbus, Ohio.

So you drove longer than Columbus, Indiana.

But no.

Four-eyed fox is why I'm in the hobby.

So we're getting ready to drive it on that power tour.

Because these cars are so pretty.

And you get out to really represent the Mustang right there.

and this is the Marauder high,

in high school I drove a 65 Marauder fastback.

You want to know the story?

The size of that truck.

I think you can put four or five bodies in the back of that truck.

The Monfield, obviously.

Yeah, the Super Marauder S-55.

This is the rare S-55.

The hyper-finished one is $390.

This is $390 at $300 horsepower.

The standard $390, which is a truck engine.

Absolutely incredible.

I love the all four shows.

You keep getting back to your car.

Not because we like to drive,

It's beautiful, but there's another thing, built to the health, so build, built it to the health.

I did.

I just, this was total love, and you just wanted to be the best.

There's no sense spared in the area.

You really went full out.

It's wicked, it sounds great, it looks great, it sits great, I know it runs great.

What's inspiring? What's the pace car that you had to have?

So, when I was 18 years old, my first car was a 79 pace car.

Was your first car?

That was my first car, but it wasn't in the best shape, and you know, we think we have money to do something,

but we really don't, the only thing I did was mess it up more, and ended up getting wrecked.

And so, then I had two more 79 bus things, but they weren't in the pace cars.

Then I went through my area just having regular vehicles.

Yeah, you had to live.

I had to live, get myself established by home.

Like it's the way sometimes, right?

Yeah, now that I'm older, it's like, okay, I'm gonna buy my first car again,

and I found a guy down in Somerset Kentucky, he was 27 years old.

Wow, was he your owner?

Yeah, he was not your owner, but he had the whole car planned,

and it was the only thing he should have flown me down to Fairville,

and he had the whole car planned, and I went ahead and got him, and I bought it for him.

And I asked him, is it ever been in the show?

And he says, no.

I said, well, it will be.

And when I bought it, it already had, it was originally a 2.3 turbo,

but when I bought it, it had a 347 stroke motor with the factory block,

and it didn't take long before the block decided to crash.

So how would that happen?

Does your bike flip every day to the left foot?

Absolutely.

So then I went ahead and pulled the motor out, and that's when I decided

that it took all the metal out of the engine bay,

welded all the new scout rod handles in it, prestige performance in North Carolina.

I had them build the engine for me, and then I decided like, well,

now I've got a powerful engine, so I need to do the rest of it.

I went ahead and put a TKX transmission in it, an 8.8 inch rear end,

a full load of gas, all the suspension, and I just went all out with it.

So, Phil?

We have a Mustang on the stock list.

Everybody's got a Mustang story.

Yours is a Corvette.

Yeah.

Not only is your story incredible, you used to be your first car,

you wanted to get it back, but when you brought it back,

you used to drive around like, oh, it's my first car.

You brought this thing, too.

The best thing about participating or even just attending an all-Ford car show hosted by an established Mustang club is easily the wide variety of great cars you’ll find there. Unlike the hit-or-miss nature of seeing “oh-wow!” cars at casual cruise-ins or cars & coffee events, the annual shows that are hosted each year by longstanding Mustang clubs will always reveal some amazing rides on the show field.That’s not just some AI-assisted uneducated opinion. Your podcast hosts John Clor and Mike Rey are speaking from years of experience in the hobby. John’s 20 years of managing Ford’s Club Connect program had him on the road working car shows for some two-dozen or more weekends per year. Mike’s 20 years at the helm of the Mustang Owner’s Club of SouthEastern Michigan – one of America’s biggest and most-active Mustang clubs – had him managing the yearly “Mustang Memories” show that three times had surpassed an amazing 1,000 entries.
