Welcome to the number one show of its kind in the USA, the CarPro show. Jerry Reynolds,
the CarPro, ran his own dealerships for decades and he always gives you straight
talk and honest answers about everything automotive. Jerry's co-host is Todd Chambliss,
noted phrenologist. Uh, brain freak. Here they are now on the CarPro show.
We sure do appreciate you joining us on this holiday weekend and we're talking cars
and we're talking the deals that are out there and I'm helping people make good car buying
decisions because if you make a bad one, it's expensive and it's exasperating. I will tell
you that. I haven't ever done it, but I have talked to a thousand people, bought that new
car, they didn't take that proper test drive and they've had it for a week and they go,
oh, I hate this thing. This is not for me. Don't do that. If you know what you want,
take a good hard test drive at one of my dealers that are listed at CarPro.com.
They'll give you the time to do it by yourself if that's what you want. Some people don't
want to do it by themselves. Some people want a product specialist in the car with them to
show them everything and that's fine too. Whatever it is, just make sure that it's the
right car for you because it's hard to get out of them once you buy them and look,
there is no three day cooling off period with cars. There's not a single state in America
where you've got three days. When you sign papers and you go over the gate, that car is yours.
So bear that in mind. You've signed a legal binding contract and that car is now belonging
to you. Let's make sure it's the right one. Now let's also make sure you get the right deal
and that's what I'm here for and that's what CarPro.com is there for. I've got some great
dealers follow my process. It works. It's worked for 25 years almost and I shortcuted all the crap
you have to go through to buy a car. It's that simple. I owned car dealerships. I knew how to
shortcut it. I have found dealers that agree with me and say, hey, if you'll send us a bunch
of business, we'll make it real easy on the people that you send. Guess what? That's
what makes it work. Todd Chambliss is here. A noted phrenologist. I know. Do you know what that is?
I remember the last time we used that open. You had looked it up. Which I did again.
Because you forgot to? I did too. Okay. So remind everybody what a phrenologist is.
A 19th century pseudoscience, which should probably in air quotes,
that claimed a person's character and mental faculties could be determined by the shape and
bumps of their skull. So they felt, they felt you're nagging and then they said, oh, well,
this is an angry one here or he's going to be a problem. They're going to be, you know,
whatever. So they, they use that to determine the way that you are basically your wet, your
temperament, everything else. I wonder how Mr. announcer found that information.
I think it was word a day. He probably had on a calendar and he saw that word and said,
there's the one for that particular. Yeah. Cause I don't know what you'd be googling to find that.
I don't either. And I've never been known to touch people's heads, especially unwanted.
So you're safe. Don't worry. I'm not going to be doing that for you. Don't touch my hair.
I am a little particular about my hair. Well, okay. Good to know.
Cause I still have it. Well, you know, and thank God for that. Right.
Boy, no kidding. Not everybody has that luxury. I had something this week that's never happened to
me before. And what would that be? Never. I had a listener take their glove box off their truck,
pack it up tightly with, you know, bubble wrap, the whole deal, ship it to me
for me to sign his glove box door and then ship it back to him.
That is bizarre. Did you do it? Yeah, of course I did it. I mean, it's the thing that Carol Shelby
does. Oh, I didn't know there was a connection. There's a thing. If you get somebody that
you respect and you like and that it's kind of into cars and, you know, considered to be a car
expert or, you know, something along those lines, you get your glove box signed. I've never even heard
of that. Yeah. Couldn't they have just signed a hat or a shirt maybe or a photo or something?
He wanted his glove box signed. All right. So he did. He was so sweet. He sent me a marker
to sign it with. That helps. He sent me like $16 worth of stamps. To mail it back. And a label
so that I could wrap his glove box back up in the same box and then put the new label over his label,
attach $16 worth of postage and all I had to do was sign it and take it to the post office.
You know how, I mean, that's somebody that sends that to you and already provides for the way back
and does that in advance. Of course you're going to honor something like that. Of course. It was
sweet. It's pretty nice. And he's going to send me pictures of it when. So he puts it back in
his service. He's going to be in his vehicle then. He's going to put the glove box back on.
All right. And it'll, it'll. And your name will be in there forever and ever. I got a line
open. If you want it, 800-926-7777. Eric in La Porte, Texas. Welcome and thanks for holding.
Eric, what can I help you with? Yes. Yes, sir. My wife wants a new car even though she's got a 2015
SRX. It's got 48,000 miles on it. Yeah. We bought it brand new so we know what it is,
but she wants a new car about that size. Maybe a little bit bigger, but not much bigger and really
not any smaller. And I don't know which one she's been looking at the MDX, the RDX.
I don't know all the different brands and she can't make up her mind which one she might want.
Now we haven't went to no dealers to look. Okay. Has she liked the Cadillac?
Like the Cadillac? Well, she likes it, but I hate it. Oh. Well, let me tell you. It's uncomfortable.
Yeah. It's uncomfortable. I understand. The RDX is going to be smaller. The MDX is nice.
I like it. It's going to have a very different ride than what she gets with that Cadillac. It's
going to be a really sporty ride. That means she's going to feel more bumps in the road.
If she wants a luxury ride like she's had, try the XT5 with the Cadillac.
Look at the Lexus RX. It's fantastic. The Lincoln Corsair. Great ride. Very comfortable seats.
It's a good choice. You know, it kind of depends on budget, but you know, I think for the money,
the XT5 from Cadillac is probably one of the better buys out there and it is a super nice
SUV and there's good incentives on it. Now, Eric, I've got good dealers at my website,
carpro.com. So take a good test drive and use my system. What to do with your car at the end of
a lease can be confusing. Jerry Reynolds, the car pro will clue you in. Call the car pro show at
1-800-926-7777. And welcome back to the car pro show. Every single week we have a brand new
classic car of the week on our Facebook page and it's really easy to get to. You go to
carpro.com. If you go down to the bottom of the page there's some good links down there
that you can access. One of them is a direct link to our Facebook page and it'll bring you to
this week's listing. If you comment with correct year make and model, you could be the winner of
an auto heat shield for your car. That is custom cut exactly as you need it for your windshield.
It's almost like the factory did it when they were making the car. And that comes in handy
for a hot day. It comes in handy for cold day too when the auto heat shield can be turned
around and can bring the heat into your car during the cold months. So certainly not just for the
hotter months. Again start over, start at facebook.com and go to car pro, our page,
make your guess and among all the correct guesses we will pick a winner for this week's
classic car of the week. We will and we'll send you a certificate to email in and get it in
process. You just got a new one. I did just the last week or so. But you didn't win the
contest. I did not win a contest. I'm not eligible for a contest. No, you're not. You had to pay.
I did have to pay. How much was it? I think it was like $50 but I got the car pro discount.
I was able to do that. 10 percent. Yeah, 10 percent. Car pro on Facebook is where it's at. That's
right. All right. To Randy in Georgetown, Texas, we go. Randy, welcome. Hello. It's great to
speak to you, Jerry and Todd. Thank you, buddy. Happy Labor Day. Well, thank you very much.
Let me start off with a general thing about when to buy. I believe you're implying that
the time to make a deal is right before Monday. Tuesday's when the incentives run out.
And I don't think they're going to be as good afterwards. And the reason is the tariffs. These
automakers have got to save some money somewhere and I think they may use incentives to do that.
So no way to know for sure. That's a guess. But I know they're good through Tuesday night.
Well, I'm kind of dithering between buying and leasing because I'm a little late in life.
I'll be passing the mid 70s here in a couple of months. And anyway, about leasing, is there an
advantage to actually get into a lease before Tuesday? Oh, yes. Does it make any difference?
No, yeah. There's there's lease incentives and there's purchase incentives. Now,
it kind of depends on what you're looking at because some car companies like Toyota and Lexus,
they they are big time into leasing. Some of the others like Ford and Chevrolet,
they're more geared toward purchase incentives. So it really kind of comes down to
what you're looking at. Do you have any idea yet what you want?
Well, actually, I do because last time I took my Lexus NX into the dealer
to be serviced, they'd sent me an email that said, we would love to talk to you about upgrading.
Well, okay, and I expected to be relassoed and get the royal treatment when I got there. But
no one contacted me there. And then finally, after I got home, I got another email from
someone else that said, hey, which we could we should talk to you anyway. But the thing is,
so I'm hoping they're still one of your, your sponsors because that is an excellent dealer down
there. Lexus of Austin. And, and, oh, I'm a newbie at leasing. I've owned my cars outright ever
since 1970. I had a Toyota Corolla. I made payments on and after that, it was all
buying cash anyway. Okay, but about leasing. Yeah. I know three year versus a longer term for someone
who may not last through the term. That's kind of what I'm thinking. And that's a valid thought.
In fact, I've, I've got at carpro.com on the FAQ page, Randy. I've got a section
for seniors, senior citizens. One of the articles I've written is why leasing makes sense for seniors.
And that is one of the things I talk about there. And it's not pleasant to think about it. But
the fact is, if, if something happens to you before the lease is up,
it's much easier for your estate to get out of that lease than it is to get out of a purchase,
especially if you're going 60 or 72 months. So in fact, I have seen Toyota financial and Lexus
financial forgive everything with leases when the, when the person passes away and, and just,
you know, they just say, Hey, bring us the car and forget about it. Don't worry about it. So
with that, before we run out of time here, Jeff Prey is the general manager, Lexus of Austin.
Talk to him directly and tell him I sent you. He'll take good care of you.

Call the car pro Jerry Reynolds at 1-800-926-7777.
And next up, Carolyn in Houston. Welcome. Carolyn, how can I help you?
Well, I have a 2012 Nissan Ultimate and it has over 118,000 miles and I guess in
the last four years I've made your lot of repairs and I was wondering, do you think it would be a
good time to go buy a new Toyota like a Corolla? I do. At this time or? I do. Keep the car longer.
No, kiddo. Nissan quality back around the time you bought yours wasn't nearly as good as it is today.
I think if you haven't had any transmission issues, you're going to and there could be other issues
as well. So I think with the deals right now and knowing what I know that car prices are going
to go up because of the tariffs, there's just no question about that. I think I would. I think
I'd pull the trigger right now and Corolla is a wonderful car. Would you buy a new one or lease
one? You don't sound like a high mileage driver and as good as Toyota leases,
yeah. I'd look at a 10,000 mile a year lease for sure. It's going to be your cheapest payment
by far. Very, very little if nothing down. In fact, you could trade your, you could trade your
Nissan. It'll cover tax time license, first payment, get you a nice low payment probably
under 250 a month on a nicely equipped Corolla. And three years from now, you can make up your mind
on what you want to do next. You can buy that Corolla at that time. You can do another lease.
The beauty part of leasing is if you get on a cycle of doing it every three years,
you're never going to spend any money on a car other than gas.
Even Toyota even pays for the maintenance, all changes and tire rotations and that sort of thing.
So it's the cheapest driving you can do. So yeah, I would look at it.
Can I get a new one? Yes, brand new. A 25?
20, 20? Brand new, 25. Yes. I have four excellent Toyota dealers in Houston at my website,
carpro.com. Near the top, click on find a certified car pro dealer near me, put your zip code.

This winter, know what your vehicle needs before it needs it. Visit your Chevrolet
certified service center and ask for a multi-point vehicle inspection and take
advantage of stackable rebates. See dealer for complete details. Multi-point vehicle
inspections vary by participating dealer. And welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry
Reynolds the car pro. Some free advice from Jerry in this week's newsletter. If you find
yourself in Dubai and you think you're gonna go and outrun the police there, well bad news for you,
you're just probably not. Unless you can do better than their 630 horsepower Audi RS7
and the fleet of now, I don't think you're gonna do much better than that. Not too much better.
No, I don't think you're gonna get away most likely.
Probably not. And if you're in Dubai, you probably don't want to run a foul just
anyway because they're fairly strict over there about a lot of things.
I think I'd like to go to Dubai someday.
I'd like to. It's a long flight and I understand it's beautiful. It's probably a little expensive,
but it's that's a long flight, man. Oh no. It's a long flight, but I understand it's gorgeous.
Anyway, the free advice of course is part of the newsletter. If you don't get the newsletter,
you should and it's free. It's not full of ads. It's not going to sell your address to
anybody. Carpro.com is where you start. Go to the bottom. There is a link there
where you can sign up very quickly and have it sent to you immediately.
And you can buy some raffle tickets that helps a great charity. You'll see that in the newsletter.
You know, just a great group. You can win a car and that sort of thing. We're very proud to partner
with them to help veterans. So take a look at that as well. Light up to live. I take calls
in the order they are received and never vary from that. So Karen, you're up next and you are in
Tiki Island. Is that correct? Yes, it is. Where's that at? It's right near Galveston Island.
Okay. Okay. I could tell by your area code you were somewhere around Houston,
but that's a new one on me. So what can I help you? Right before you cross the causeway to
Galveston, we're there. Got it. Got it. Well, so my adult son is looking at the 2025
Grand Jeep Cherokee and seeing a lot of issues online and just wondering if you
incurred that there's a lot of electrical, electronic, battery, a lot of people saying
that they have to take it back in and that it would stay there for months.
I think that was true when the 2024s came out. It was an all new vehicle,
completely different Jeep Grand Cherokee than we'd seen in the past.
I remember reviewing it. I remember thinking to myself because it has a lot of screens inside.
It's got 76, 77 inches worth of screens, which is unheard of.
It's cool to look at, but I remember thinking, boy, if there's electrical problems with this,
it's going to be a real issue. And it turns out it was. I don't think that's the case
today. I think today they're fine. So if he's buying a new one, I don't think that he'll have
anything to worry about at all. Okay. Okay. Well, that's good news. And it's a nice SUV and
it's a joy to drive. So I would not discourage you. I'll tell you that. I've got a good dealer
on the Gulf Freeway at my website. There's a gentleman there named Jonathan Williams,
good guy. Send your son to carpro.com and tell him to click on find a certified
car pro dealer near you. And they'll take good care of you. Okay.
All right, kiddo. Thank you so much. And Kingswood, Texas, north Houston. We talked to Dean.
Hello, Dean. Good morning. Or actually good afternoon. Hi there. Love your show. Yeah,
I told your screener that I was interested in a Canyon, a GMC Canyon truck. Yeah. But I'm actually
interested in two GMC vehicles. I want to buy a GMC Canyon, I think, unless you tell me that
Tacoma is way better. And I'm also interested in a Yukon XL diesel. I want to order one of those.
A couple of dealers have told me they're not ordering yet. I don't know. But anyway,
I want to order, I want to order one of those a 2026 model and I want to buy a Canyon right away.
And I'm wondering, you know, a dealer that's kind of no nonsense, a GMC dealer,
that's reasonably close and then that might have deals go on on canyons
unless you steer me away from the canyon. No, I would never steal you away from the canyon.
It's a great truck. You know, how long do you think you're going to keep it?
I keep my cars a long time. Okay. You ask about Tacoma. I think Tacoma is probably the longest
lasting truck on the market. I've seen them go. I've seen them go half a million miles
and more, actually. But the downside to... I probably wouldn't keep it for, I wouldn't keep it
for half a million, but maybe maybe 150,000. Okay. That was the next question. So you
answered that. The Canyon will do great up to then and past then it'll do 200,000 if you
do your maintenance. That's it. So I would... The plus side of the Canyon is the ride
and interior quietness is much nicer than the Tacoma. Now, if you were going to lease it,
I'd tell you, look hard at the Tacoma, see if you like it. But if you're buying it and
you're going to keep it for a while, the Canyon or the Colorado, either one, and I'm with you
on the Canyon, I'd go with it. I think it's a great choice. Now, what are you hoping to gain
by ordering a 2026 versus buying a 2025 Yukon? Well, I'd order a 2025. I just want to get
exactly what I want. I'm not in a big garage, but if they had a 2025, I'd buy that. But
it doesn't seem like they've got one in a diesel. So I mean, everybody tells me that
diesels are in super short supply and blah, blah, blah. Well, I think that's probably true.
But I think they're out there and a good dealer will go to a different dealer to do a dealer
transfer if that's what it takes to make you happy. The only reason I'm questioning you
on that is we know the 2026s are jumping in price. And I mean jumping. I had an article in my tariff
section of the newsletter just that came out Thursday that talked about this very thing.
I'm seeing new vehicles that aren't changing. It's not like it's an all new redesign.
But I'm seeing them go up as much as $5,000 because of the tariffs. So if you could find a 2025,
then boy, I think I'd try to make it work. Now, let me tell you about Brandon Sein.
He is the man at Classic Elite Buick GMC. Brandon and I have been friends for a lot of
years. I bought a car from Brandon when he was at Classic Chevrolet. Now he's at their Buick GMC store.
Talk to him about both. They're open today. They're closed Monday. They will be open on Tuesday
and the incentives are good through Tuesday. But if you can talk to him today and get the
Canyon locked away and tell him what you want in the Yukon, he can get to work on that.
Go to carpro.com. Click on certified car pro dealers near me. You'll find him. Classic Elite.
Find out when that 100,000 mile mark matters and when it doesn't matter.
Call the car pro Jerry Reynolds at 1-800-926-7777.
Well, interesting news in the newsletter. This course is always interesting news,
but one particular item I thought was pretty interesting is that the rental car company
Herds is teaming up with Amazon to sell cars. Now, this is not going to be these are used
cars. These are obviously cars that they have already rented out and they say that they
will give customers a faster, more convenient way to buy their car online. An Amazon experience,
of course. I'm going to guess that this is not going to be the Amazon experience as a
prime member that you probably are accustomed to. Yeah, blah, blah, blah. So what?
Ho-hum Herds teams up with Amazon to sell cars is the actual headline. Yes. Yeah. I mean,
so what? Really? I mean, they're not selling. Amazon isn't selling cars. Yeah. Herds is selling
the car. Amazon's giving you a listing. And they probably take a cut. Oh, yeah. I mean, come on.
Yeah, of course they do. So if you think you get it and, you know, well, I'll get it by
two to five o'clock this afternoon, it's not going to happen. You still have to go to
Herds and do all the test driving and all that paperwork and everything. Haggling.
Amazon, all they're doing is just giving you, it's like, it's just like going to auto trader.
Yeah, they're listing it for you. It's a listing service. Right, right. And if there's a problem
with it, don't call Jeff Bezos. He's not going to pick up. Because he and his new wife,
they're still on their honeymoon. He ain't going to help you. No, no, no. You know,
it's, it's, it's a big to do about nothing. You think of a shortcut and you think there
must be something that's not going to be good at the end of this. And there's certainly,
that's certainly the case here. Well, it's not saving you time and it's not saving you money.
Yeah. So why, why bother doing that? Why have a middleman? Yeah, it doesn't make any sense.
Every time you add a middleman, there's probably more cost for him. Well,
they don't do it for free. No, they don't. Let's go to Magnolia, Texas and talk to Genie.
Hello, Genie. Welcome. Hi, how are you, Jerry? I'm good kiddo. What can I help you with?
I have a 2018 S90 Volvo and it's a beautiful car. I love the sedan, but I'm wondering if
you can recommend a car that has a real comfortable seat in it. I'm having to have
back surgery and this car seat is just not doing it for me. Now, do you, when you say car,
do you really mean car or do you mean SUV? No, I would really like a sedan. I understand. I'm with
you. I'm a sedan guy. That's my, you know, I've got a BMW five series because I like sedans.
Yeah, I think if I were you, I would look at is one more question. Is that Volvo about the
same? Is that about the right size that you like?
Yes. Because it's pretty big. I like the longer model. Yeah, it's nice. You can tell the grandkids
in it. Okay, look at a Genesis G80. It's got a, it's got, yeah, it's a good looking car. The seats
are very comfortable. It's got a lot of adjustments. It's got power lumbar, which I've had my share of
back issues too. I've had back surgery. I really tune in when I'm reviewing a car to,
you know, how does it feel and how does it feel after I've been driving it for an hour?
That's a big one with me. I was very comfortable in the G80. You get a 10 year, 100,000 mile
powertrain warranty. It comes with the concierge service, which means they'll pick up the car
and they'll leave you a loaner and take it in for service. You don't have to go to the service
department. I've got two really good dealers at my website at carpro.com. I think that's
your answer. Lincoln, if you were going SUV, I'd tell you to look at Lincoln's,
but they don't make cars anymore. So they only make SUVs. So look at the G80. You will absolutely
love it. Use my dealers. They'll save you money. Don't just go and buy what looks good in a TV
commercial. Find out if that car fits how you drive. Call the car pro show at 1-800-926-7777.
It's happy. Listener time began. Great stories from those who have followed Jerry's advice on
getting a brand new car and have great stories like Matthew, who was interested in a Subaru
outback and of course went to Subaru Orange Coast. Miguel there, easy to work with, made the
process go by relatively quickly, had answers for any question I had, made the whole process smooth,
which is what it should be. And Danny was looking for a 2024 Ford Mustang and went to see somebody
that I have taken a lot of my business to over the years. That's Trey Russell, five star Ford
in Carrollton. He was referred by Raj in Carrollton to Raj, rather by Tyrone in Dallas.
After the car he was looking for, so before I could get there, you've heard that story before.
So Raj set him up with Terry and the whole process smooth and easy.
They didn't pressure me to use their financing after I told them I had my own,
even acknowledging they couldn't beat it. Overall, great experience. I've purchased or
leased at least six cars over the years using the car pro process and it is the way to go.
Yep. Trey Russell at five star Ford in Carrollton. He's been a dear friend of mine for many,
many years. Yep. When my son wanted to get in the car business after I sold my dealerships,
I sent him to Trey and I said, you learn from this guy. Yeah. Because he does it right. Yes.
And he does. That's at the Carrollton store. You bought you and your family both over 10 cars
probably closer to a dozen collectively. Yep. Boy, he does it right. Yeah. We've got
another hour to go. If you don't get us in your market where you're listening from right now, it's
