Well, thank you, sir. And I hope you had a good start to 2026.
So far, so good. It's been a great start to the year. It's been an interesting day. That's for
sure. Did not expect to wake up this morning and see the news that we saw, of course, in Venezuela
with Maduro. But we've been covering that this morning, watching that, the president speaking
on that, as you mentioned before. But more importantly, what we talk about here is that,
we've got a limited deadline. You're going to be able to take advantage of incentives and
the fact that this is really the 11th hour when it comes to the best time to buy.
Yeah, we're right down to it. And honestly, the difference between a good time to buy a car and
a great time to buy a car is when the incentives are the best. If you're thinking about leasing,
when the lease deals are the best. And what we're seeing right now is the best we've seen
since before COVID. And I just don't know what to say about what happens Tuesday.
I'm confident they'll go down. I don't know how far they'll go down. But I can tell you that the
thing that spurs incentives is inventory, the amount of cars on dealers lots. If that number is
too high, they put on incentives. If that number is low, they back off on incentives. They'll keep
enough out there just to give them something to advertise. But I can tell you that our dealers
moved a lot of vehicles in December. Our Chevy dealer in Dallas Fort Worth, classic Chevrolet,
did over 1100 new Chevrolets in December. That's crazy. Fred has Toyota World, Houston, Texas,
Spring, actually, popped a thousand Toyotas for the first time in their history.
1,000 Toyotas in a single month. So if these dealers were overstocked,
they're probably not now. Yeah, probably have a lot of used cars, I would imagine.
Oh, they're going to have a gazillion trades, which is one of the reasons that used car market
typically drops in January because there's a glut of trade in. It's all supply and demand,

very first car. And I gave you that where you could actually go online and look at the brochure
on your very first car. And it's a it's a lot. What was your first car? I don't think I've ever
asked you that 74 Ford Maverick. Oh, I'm so sorry. Me too. Dumped it as quickly as I could,
but that was a graduation gift. It was obviously used to that point because I graduated in 82.
So you do the math there. But yes, 74 Ford Maverick. It was a tank. And every cold morning,
I had to go spray the carburetor because it wouldn't turn over. It was just, yes,
a whole lot of maintenance and stuff to it. But it it ran once it once it got warm outside,
it ran just fine. Oh, yeah. Oh, I don't very attractive car. When I got into the car business,
the Maverick was new. And I was just washing cars, but I had to drive them, you know, occasionally,
especially around the lot. And wow, they really suck. But I look at that. I mean,
I look at the lineup when I got when I went to work washing cars at that Ford dealership. We had
Mavericks, we had Pentos, we had Granada's. It was just horrific. What was your first car,
by the way? 67 Chevy Malibu. That's a better choice than the 74 Ford Maverick. 283 V8. Yeah.
Three speed transmission on the steering wheel. Oh, oh, column. Yeah, nice. Three on the tree,
as we used on the tree. How about that? We're going to go to the phones when we come back at

pal. Yeah, happy New Year, Jerry. Thank you, buddy. So I've been looking at Toyota four-runners
and I've driven both generation six, the new ones. Yeah. And then I drove a generation five
the other day and you know what? I've decided I like the older ones better. Well, there was
there was nothing to complain about with the old one. I will tell you that it was probably
the longest lasting SUV ever made. And I have said many times, you know, there's a couple
of reasons. One, it's on a truck chassis, which I love. And I think I do think long-term that makes
a vehicle way more durable in an SUV. And then secondly, I mean, that generation you're talking
about, they built it from 2010 to 2024, 14 years. It never changed. And boy, I tell you what, if
there were bugs to get out of it, it probably happened around 2011. And they were spectacular
after that. I don't blame you. I like the new one. But I think if I were looking for, you know,
longevity, not knowing how this new one is going to stack up with the old one for the long haul,
especially where you live, I think you're probably on the right track there.
Yeah. So let me tell you, I found one that's a TRD off-road premium and it's priced right at a
Toyota dealer. And this is a 2023 with 12,000 miles on it. And it's got a car fax that shows
minor damage. I took a paint meter and I checked the paint on this thing. It's got a repainted
tailgate. Yeah. But it's been sitting for two months on this lot and it's not selling.
I say it, like I say, it's priced right. And it's kind of a lime green color. I'm wondering,
what do you think is keeping it from selling? The color. The color. Yeah.
If you can live with it, if you can live with that color, it's probably going to be a bargain. And
if it's been there that long, the dealer is probably waiting until next week to send it to
the auction because typically a dealers have a 60 day rule that at 60 days, it goes to the
auction and whatever it brings, it brings. So your timing is impeccable on this thing.
You can go to them and say, look, you can talk like, you know, like you've been in the car
business. You can say, look, I know you guys are fixing this thing, the auction, you're going to
take a bath on it. Make me a great deal and I'll buy it. Are you going to finance it with them?
Cash. Cash. Okay. Which is fine. Financing is sort of a motivator for a dealer. I helped
a listener this past week by a dodge challenger electric that a dealer had had an inventory
forever. And I walked him through the same thing. I said, look, they want to sell this thing.
They want to write it off in the last year, which is 2025, probably the same thing on this
forerunner. They got a loss coming. They can still book it into 2025 and get it off the books.
Your timing is great. What do they, what do they got it listed for?
It's listed at 44 seven. Okay. There's room there. I would say there's probably a couple
of thousand dollars there. So if it were me doing it, I'd go in with a $40,000 cash offer.
They're not going to take it. Don't be surprised. But your hope is that they'll meet you in the middle
and don't be afraid to walk away because they will, they will be calling you back.

Hello Jerry. Happy new year. Happy new year to you too. Thank you. So
2025, my goal was to get moved and we did that and that was a focus that drained us of some money.
But now my goal is to buy a new car. And I think I'm late to the game based on what you've been
saying for as far as incentives, but I've got a 2016 Nissan Rogue, 120,000 miles and it's been a
great car. And I thought, well, I'll just go buy another Nissan. Yeah. But I started looking,
you know, see what else is out there. 10 years. So let's changed. Oh, yeah. So anyway, I went
into a Nissan dealer first and told them I just wanted to look to see if the new ones. And he
told me that no dealerships were taken cash anymore, that everything was financed. Well,
did you finance it and then pay it off in a month? Get the hell out. Get out of there then. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. A dealer will gladly take cash. They'd prefer you to finance because they make money
that way, but they will take your money. They will take cash. We want to pay cash because we're
tired. I don't want any debt. But anyway, I started looking and I thought, well, I'll look at the
rest for and then you started talking about the Hyundai and hybrid. And I thought, maybe I need
to check out that brand. I had no idea about the reputation of it or what, but I thought maybe
it might be worth working into. It is. And I'll tell you, Hyundai and Kia owned by the same company.
Hyundai and Kia are both putting out great vehicles. The Hyundai hybrids have been great so far.
Now, do we have the history on the Hyundai hybrid that we've got with the Toyota RAV4 hybrid? No,
not near. But the plus side is the Hyundai comes with a 10-year 100,000 mile warranty. So,
yes, it's certainly worthy of you looking. I would suggest you look at the Sportage
and see what you think about it. It's a great SUV. I've helped a lot of people in them and

shifts, one of the more clicked items every single week. Every time that Jerry releases a brand new
newsletter, it's stories in the auto industry. A couple of things in the quick shifts I thought
were rather interesting. You always see these typically one to year vanity plates where people
go and take advantage and they're no good nicks. They do something either obscene or inflammatory
or just hard to read. And there's a story about, I think there are over 500 submissions people
were trying to get personalized license plates and they were denied in Illinois.
But occasionally you'll see one slip through. They catch it.
It's something that's a little too hip for the room or that kind of thing. You'll see that for
sure. Some of these really and not at liberty to say on the year. Yeah, exactly. They're that kind
of thing. And then the story about why a fire truck may blast its horn three times and you wonder
why there's information about that. Some good stuff in quick shifts and the newsletter. Go and

half the time even though I've driven this car for two years now. Oh, try getting in and out of
100 cars a year. Well, that's exactly, yeah. Because I always fill them up before I give them
back, which none of the other reviewers do, but that's another story. Yeah. Yeah. All right.

this is one of those historic days that we'll always remember. Oh, yeah. But if you would like

a nice car vet. Not really sure which way to go. Never on the car vet. Check online with auto traders,
car facts, car guru. Everybody has different, different, you know, car vets and the price range,
you know, different also depending on which way to go. And so looking for to get a nice pre-owned
car vet and everything, you know, to have a lot. Most of the time I keep a car for a long time,
if not forever, but might put some money down or trading and got a little Toyota Yars. I'd like
to trade in also, you know, so just trying to get your opinion which way you think I should go at
this point. Well, I'd be looking for something, you know, and you talk to Corvette aficionados
and they all have a different opinion on what was the best generation. I had, I had two,
the only two new Corvettes I ever owned were both C sevens, which came out in 2014.
And they, those ran through 2020 when the new C eight came out, which is the mid engine car.
Right. I loved my C sevens. I love both of them. One of them was they were both convertibles.
The second one I had in 2016 was a zero six and it frankly was too fast,
even for me with my heavy foot, because you couldn't, you couldn't keep the rear end down.
I mean, you could be driving down the freeway at 65 miles an hour and floorboard it
and it get loose with you. The rear end start coming around. So yeah, now everything changed
with the C eight with the, with when you got that big engine sitting pretty much on top of the rear
wheels, those rear wheels aren't going to break loose. And it was a remarkably different ride and
when I reviewed the new one, the one that's, that's still out today. So a lot of this is
going to come down to budget. I would tell you that I would drive a C seven and a C eight both
and see, see which one you like. Cause I have actually talked to listeners
that didn't care for the C eight. They liked the old one better. I don't think if it were me,
I don't think I'd go back past 2014. Okay. I think, I think that generation was probably
one of the best ones ever made. I had amazing luck with both the ones that I had, but sir, if,
you know, it's, it's, it's a personal decision. You're going to be the one driving it and you need
to be the one that takes a really good test drive. Right. I was looking at the 2014s and 2016s.
I've heard you talk about those years, those models and something like that. So I say, you know
what, I'm kind of leaning towards these are 2014, 2016, you know, maybe a Z 51 or Z 71. Z
Z 51 is the, that's the suspension. That's the suspension package. I had that on both mine
and it's worth, it's worth it. Now, the one good thing Dwayne about used Corvettes is they're always
some really low mileage ones out there because for a lot of people, they're weekend cars.
That's it. They only drive them on the weekend. Exactly. And then at some point they get tired
of it and they say, uh, you know, I'd rather have the money in the bank or, you know, okay,
I've had this car for eight years and I'm ready to get rid of it, you know. So finding one, a big
Corvette dealer and I've got a big one in sugar land, classic Chevy sugar. They sell a ton of
new Corvettes and that dealership is part of the big classic store in here in Dallas,
which was number one in America for the third year in a row this year. They sell a ton of Corvettes.
Well, the Sugarland stores the same way. Yeah, classic Chevrolet. Classic Chevrolet in Sugarland,
okay. In Sugarland and they're just great, great people. So keep a watch on their inventory. Doesn't
sound like you need to be in a hurry. Uh, but not really, not really, but look, I understand how it
is, Randall. Once you get your mind on it, it's that desire to get a new Corvette is going to eat
on you. So I know I've been there. I've been there. Yeah. So yeah, I've been looking for a long,
for a while and I'm start watching when, when, when the right one pops up a classic, you'll know it
and then get down there and get your hands on it quick. They don't set long. Happy new year, pal.

Hey, Jerry. Gosh, I've listened to you for a hundred years. It seems like between WBAP and now
KTRH down in the Houston area. Yeah, I feel it today. Jerry, I've got a Tacoma, a Tundra,
a forerunner and a Lexus GX that just all I buy is Toyota products. They just run forever and
ever and ever. And I'm going to have to replace one of them before too long. My wife wants to
coy it, but I'm old school. I don't want to hybrid. And then they've got all these smaller
engines now with the turbo chargers. Since President Trump supposedly relaxed the fuel
standards here a couple of weeks ago, is there any chance Toyota could go back to the normally
aspirated engines at all? No. That's a thing of the past.
Well, look, and you're telling the story here that I love of how much you love Toyota and
how reliable they've been. Well, I've got a friend who bought a new Tundra. Engine blew up.
I know, pal. There was 100,000 of him and 100,000 more. But guess what? That can happen with
any vehicle. That can happen with any manufacturer. But the thing about Toyota is
when they run upon a problem like that, they take care of it. They're not fixing those engines.
They're replacing those engines, which is going to cost them millions of dollars,
but it's the right thing to do. So Toyota, as a car company, in my opinion,
is the smartest car company out there. They don't take risk. Yeah, they can have an issue like
the Tundra Sequoia 3.5, which was the problem was with the non-hybrid, not the hybrid. So,
you know, a lot of lessons were learned with electric vehicles, such as
all the automakers putting all their eggs into one basket called electric vehicles in the last
administration that ran the country. And then the new administration comes in and everything's
out the window. They're looking at this the same way, which is Toyota saying, nope,
gas is coming down, coming down to two bucks a gallon in some places already. But we're not
going to back away on fuel efficiency. And the one thing about Toyota, they're not going to back down
on their quality and their testing that they do. You're going to have to get over the fear that
you have. And I promise you, I don't think you'll be disappointed in the long run. Happy New Year,
