Sometimes car companies or dealers give buyers special discounts or deals to help sell new cars. These deals make it cheaper or easier to buy a new car.
When gas prices go up, people might think twice about buying cars that use a lot of gas. They might want cars that save gas or use electricity instead.
A manual transmission means you have to change gears yourself using a stick and a pedal. Some people like it because it gives more control, but it can make the car harder to sell later.
The Jeep Wrangler is a tough SUV that can go off-road easily. People often talk about which engine or transmission is best and how well it keeps its value when you sell it later.
Factory incentives are special deals from the car maker to help you buy a car cheaper or with better financing. For example, they might pay your sales tax or offer no interest loans.
The 3.6 liter Pentastar engine is a type of six-cylinder engine that many cars from Chrysler and its related brands use. It's known to be strong and reliable.
Coolant intrusion means that the liquid that cools the engine leaks into the oil that helps the engine parts move smoothly, which can cause the engine to break.
New car headlights are brighter and use special bulbs that can sometimes shine too much light, making it hard to see when you are driving at night because they can blind you.
Mercedes-Benz is a famous car company from Germany that makes high-quality and fancy cars.

On The Car Pro Show.
Alright, here we go.
It's The Car Pro Show.
800-926-7777-800
926-7777
The nationally syndicated car pro show.
The most listened to auto advice show in America coming to you
and we are here to help you.
Live from downtown Dallas in the retailmyride.com studios
and if you're thinking about pulling the trigger on a new car,
I would tell you that the timing is very, very good right now.
The incentives are great and we've got some very eager dealers.
It's March.
This is one of the months that they count on to be a big one,
a big volume month.
And then, you know, they start March and things were really going good
and then all of a sudden our troops are in Iran,
which is a bit of a distraction for people.
And then suddenly overnight gas prices jump a dollar a gallon.
And that's a distraction for people.
It causes uncertainty.
People don't know what to buy, how to buy,
but I'm going to tell you, if you look past that
and you believe what I believe, which is this is going to be a very short battle,
we're going to win it and we're going to win it big
and we're going to win it quick
and gas is going to fall back down literally almost overnight,
then you can take advantage of these incentives that are out there right now
because they're huge.
And you look at great incentives,
the deals that CarPro show listeners get from the listeners that go in
and follow my process through CarPro.com at the website
and you look at trade-in values.
If you've got a trade-in, I will always tell you
when it's not a good time to buy.
If you call me and I had a caller on The Dallas Show
not 15 minutes ago that had a vehicle
and I said, you don't need to trade.
You don't need to trade.
I'll always tell you that.
I'll always tell you when it's not a good time.
But I'm telling you now, particularly for truck buyers and SUV buyers,
it is a great time.
It's better than good right now.
So use our dealers.
Use the process.
It all starts at CarPro.com.
And Todd Chambers is with me.
And glad to be here, especially during Truck Month
and with everything going on,
I think I asked you early on with The Dallas Show earlier.
You sort of answered that,
but yeah, with gas prices going up, folks say,
here we go, it's going to be going up, up, up,
and we know we don't know how long this particular conflict is going to go on,
the war, whatever you want to call it.
It's one of those things where it's going to be a peak in valley.
You're going to see it go for a bit when it goes back down,
you know, to do anything rash and try to trade in
or try to change your vehicle based upon the fact that gas is a little bit more
is if I can use the term knee jerk,
it's a little overreaction because it's not going to be forever.
And I would say if you're looking for a vehicle right now,
this is the time to do it for a truck or SUV,
which of course is going to be part of that too, right?
Oh, yeah.
And that's kind of what everybody's looking for is trucks and SUVs, you know.
That's where the hot button is right now,
although I'm going to tell you,
watch for a shift in the market.
There are a lot of people who have now had their second or third SUV,
the kids are out of the house and now they're looking at cars again.
Interesting.
I'm seeing that from our listening audience.
And I can always judge a future, a future trend by this audience.
They're just that good.
And so if I were companies that got out of the car business,
hello Ford.
That's where I was going with that.
I thought, well, how many choices do you have out there?
Not a lot.
I mean, of course, there's got to be cars,
but the landscape certainly is nothing like it used to be.
No.
I mean, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia, Honda, they stayed in the car business.
Thank goodness.
And it's paying off for them.
And it's going to continue to.
800-926-7777 Clay, Corinth, Texas.
Welcome down to the North area.
Hello, Clay.
What can I help you with?
Well, I'm looking to buy a Jeep Wrangler.
More than likely it's a two door.
It's new.
What's the interest on them?
You know, is it manual or stick?
Is it the V6 or the V4?
What's the recommendations?
It's something I want to buy and keep and not sell.
Yeah.
There is some 0% out there on them on the Wrangler.
I think the 22, if I remember correctly, the 2026 is 0 for 36 months.
The 2025s that are still there are 0 for 60 months or there's rebates
or one of the interesting things that they're offering as incentives this month
is they'll pay your sales tax and that's a factory incentive.
So it doesn't cost the dealer anything.
So you can figure out and the dealers will help you figure out
what's the best incentive for you.
And that's something that people really need to take advantage of
of talking to one of my dealers and telling them your situation
and asking them which incentive do you think is best.
And a lot of it's going to depend on how long you plan to keep the vehicle.
Now, I would tell you if it were me buying a Wrangler,
I'd get the 3.6 liter Pentastar engine.
It has been a great engine in every vehicle that Stellantis has used it in.
And before that, even going back to the old Crossler Corporation,
the Pentastar is just a workhorse.
I would discourage you from getting a manual transmission
and if for no other reason resale value down the road
even if it's 10 years from now,
standard transmissions are getting harder and harder and harder to get rid of and sell
and it really hurts the value.
Plus these automatics are lasting so much longer than they used to.
So there we have it.
Yes, answer to all your questions Clay.
There is zero percent.
There are big rebates.
I'd go with the Pentastar.
I love the Wrangler.
It's a great choice but I'd get an automatic.
And I'd get it at classic Dodge Crossler Jeep Ram in Arlington.
Adam Lancaster's the GM there.

Okay.
Well, I was trying to give you the benefit of the doubt

She does and she takes this real serious too.
Yeah, she does.
I'm telling you.
800-926-7777 is the phone number.
You typically have a really hard time getting through
but I've got two lines open right now.
Grab one.
Just me and you talking here on the CarPro show.
800-926-7777.
And we go to Diana in Manville, Texas in the Houston area.
Diana, welcome.
Hey, thank you, Jerry.
I'm a first-time caller.
Good to have you.
Listen for a little while.
Thank you.
I had a question for you.
So I have a 2018 Ford Edge titanium that had the EcoBoost engine in it.
Yeah, that wasn't a great year.
No, no, no.
So we had to, this past year, pay out the lawsuit
and have an entirely new engine put in it.
So obviously, you know, we pursue everything with Ford
who of course shut everything down
and the best answer they can give us,
well, just hold on to your receipt.
So I had two questions for you.
Number one, have you heard anything about the progress
of the class action lawsuit or progress
of potentially making that a recall item?
Now, let's make sure that we're on the same page here.
You are talking about the issue where coolant gets into the oil.
Coolant intrusion into, yes, exactly.
Okay.
No, I have not heard anything about the class action lawsuit.
I can tell you I have some experience with this
because my mother-in-law had an escape that had the same problem
with 20,000 miles on it.
I mean, I doubt this thing's ever been over 65 miles an hour.
But they covered it.
They had extended the warranty to 80,000 miles.
Of course, she was well under that.
But 2017, 2018 were what seems to me to be the two problem years.
And from that time to today,
I have not heard of any issues whatsoever.
So I think the answer to your question is,
yeah, they got it fixed, whatever it was.
But how many miles did you have on yours when the issue occurred?
I think about 89, 90 maybe.
And Ford did not do anything about it?
Okay.
Because you were outside the 80,000 mile limit.
I guess so.
Yeah.
That's what they could tell me was to hold on to the receipt.
Okay.
And that's probably good advice.
There may be something.
I'm guessing you missed the window of the class action.
No, no, they actually told us just to wait that they were in the process.
It's actually out of Cali and talk to the lawyers there.
They're like, yeah, when we have a settlement,
that is when you can let us know and that would put us in the running for it
or whatever.
Okay.
All right.
That's good.
That's good information.
I'm glad to hear that.
And I got a feeling this is going to be one of the rare occasions when
people who have these vehicles actually get a nice settlement out of it.
And I would sure hope so, because that was ridiculous.
I do too.
I do too.
And they knew they had a problem.
They should have taken more responsibility in my opinion for it
because it was widespread and there's a lot of people out there just like you
who had the issue and they were out a lot of money.
If you get another one, I think you I'm confident you won't have the problem.
But for now, I think they're telling you right.
Just hang on.
I wish I had better news.
Almost everybody thinks they know about cars,
but the car pro Jerry Reynolds actually does know.
Call the car pro show now on the chase dot com car pro listener line at 1-800-926-7777.
And next up Ronald in Dallas.
Ronald actually garland.
Welcome.
How can I help you, sir?
Good morning, sir.
Hi there.
Real quick.
I've spoken to you before about that 2025 tundra at the Freeman Toyota.
Yeah.
And all the good deals you're talking about.
And this was a lease deal.
Okay.
So this first time I've ever done a lease.
So even some of the brand new trucks that you're talking about, you know,
upward to like, I don't know what 40, 50 grand.
I've only got 8,000 miles on this truck so far.
I had the oil chain not too long ago where they surfaced it for you here in Rockwall.
Yeah.
And it wasn't a day or so later, they were going to buy this truck back.
Well, sure they are.
It's a great piece of merchandise.
The question to you is what kind of a value do you think this truck holds right now?
I mean, I can't give you a dollar amount.
I can tell you that used tundras are bringing big money at the auction and they would love
to have yours.
Now, the special that we had on the Dallas show earlier and if you're not in Texas, these
numbers aren't going to make any sense to you because this is a Texas thing.
But a 2026 crew cab or crew max four before Tundra with MSRP of 49 grand payments, 375
a month with just taxes down and the first payment.
So taxes plus 375 and you'll have that much equity or more in your current Tundra.
You can get that payment at 375.
That's 10,000 miles a year, which is plenty for you.
Okay.
I said, I had never done the least job.
So I'm just, I'm just saying that if I've got half the contract paid off and they say
it's a, I think I figured that it would be like around 40 grand, 42, maybe in some change
whenever I had the contract paid paid off.
Yeah.
And so it'll be, you'll get a big discount on the loan because of the unearned interest.
So your pay off will actually be a lot less than that right now.
Donald really flying on that treadmill.
I'm trying to run as fast as T-Mobile 5G home internet, Zach.

And welcome back to The Car Pro Show.
Jerry Reynolds, The Car Pro and me, Todd Chambliss.
The number one clicked item this week in the newsletter, by the way.
Why do new car headlights blind me?
Yeah, I wrote that.
At night especially.
Wrote that for my advice column this week because I get that question a lot.
And it's, I've wondered that too.
And you kind of go into some of it.
You said you had to kind of dig deep and do a little research on that.
Yeah, I did.
What's changed?
I mean, why is everybody complaining all of a sudden about bright headlights hitting them?
And so I started digging in and it took a while.
Yeah.
Try to figure it out.
It's good reading too.
Well, thank you, sir.
I appreciate that.
And then number two in yesterday's newsletter, which you can get today, by the way, if you
subscribe, you'll get yesterday's immediately.
What's up with all the Ford recalls?
That's a good question.
Yes.
And I explained things to you on that and I had help from Ford themselves.
I contacted Mark Truby, who's the chief communications officer.
He's been on the show with us before.
I knew him from 25 years ago when I was the Ford National Dealer Council chairman.
We were friends.
He was with the Detroit News at that time.
Oh, OK.
And so we had a mutual trust with each other.
And I knew he'd shoot me straight on it.
And the situation with all the recalls isn't nearly as bad as what the press is making it
out.
Now, I'm tough on Ford.
I have been because I have such history with him.
I've been really hard on him three years, especially on the air.
And but this time, it's not as bad as it seems potentially good.
Yeah.
I mean, with what they're trying to do, but just takes a while to build that.
And I think there's they're trying to.
If you if most car companies wait until they get enough complaints from consumers and what
Ford's doing right now is they're they're jumping into it really early.
So, you know, a couple of complaints and they're looking into it and then they're recalling.
So it's it's not it's not typical things are not as they appear.
So let's go back to Ronald in Garland, Texas.
We were talking about trading this 25 Tundra for a 26.
Ronald, did you have anything else I could help you with?
Are you there?
Yes, sir.
What else could I help you with?
Yeah.
Well, it just kind of dropped now.
So I thought I'd lost y'all.
No, I ran out of time.
Oh, OK, OK, I'm sorry.
Yeah, that's that was my main question.
You know, if I've got that down and you can get that much trade in on it, why not try
to get another new vehicle?
At least look at at least look at numbers and see if they make sense to you.
You know, you can take advantage of a couple of things right now, the really good incentives
and the really good truck market because I don't think this truck market.
And I've said this for a while now and it hadn't come true yet.
But this used car market overall has got to drop at some point.
It got high during covid and it hadn't come back down and it's got to.
So if you can take advantage of that, maybe even lower your payment, get a brand new truck.
Why not?
Yeah, at least look at it.
Well, in insurance purposes, because insurance on that truck was that almost knocked the deal
off and then they can't remember the guy's name at their frame and real nice guy.
I think he's like a head of sales now out there.
But he told me just don't don't go anywhere.
I said, I'll look it up on the computer and he he did.
He found me a lot cheaper insurance.
Now I'm with all states, but boy, I mean, it that seal the deal right there.
Oh, yeah, that would do it.
So even if the insurance is cheaper, you know, that makes it even more better.
Ronald, talk to Jerry Patterson.
Jerry Patterson worked for me for a lot of years, 15 years, as I recall.
And and when I sold my dealerships, he went to work at Freeman.
He's the general sales manager and he will take really good care of you.
1-800-NEW CARS is their phone number.
1-800-NEW CARS.
OK.
So talk to Jerry and tell him I sent you.
I appreciate the call, my friend.
And James in Conroe, Texas in the Houston area.
James, welcome to the Car Pro Show.
Hello, thank you for taking my call.
You bet.
What can I help you with?
We have a 2017 RAF for XLE.
Got a hundred fifty five thousand miles, but I'm about to retire and I want to pay cash
for either a Sienna to go to Sienna or a Highlander.
I'm not a highlander.
Yeah, Highlander.
And I was just wondering if it would be better for us to just sell our RAF for outright or try to trade it.
Is it in good shape?
I need to have a little body work doing my month.
My wife had a concrete barrier, but we're going to get that fixed.
But other than that, it's in good shape.
OK.
All right.
That's good.
Is it?
Well, they didn't have the hybrid in 2017.
I don't think.
But is it four?
Is it four wheel drive?
Yes, there it is.
OK, good.
That helps you.
First off, I would tell you to try to trade it.
And the reason for that is because in Texas, the sales tax, you get the trade value deducted
from the new vehicle before the six and a quarter percent tax is applied.
So if you've got a $5,000 trade, you know, you're saving 300 and something bucks in sales tax.
Plus, trying to sell it yourself is not easy and a lot of times not safe.
I had a story in my newsletter last week about a guy that sold his 2025 Silverado himself
online, lost $93,000.
So I would try to trade it if you can.
Second thing, don't fix it.
Let them fix it because they can fix it a lot cheaper than you can unless you're going to make an insurance claim.
Now, if you're going to file insurance on it, go ahead and do that and get it fixed.
But if you're not going to file insurance, they'll deduct their cost of repairing it off whatever it would be worth normally.
And what they deduct will be half what you'll spend at a body shop.
So give that some thought.
And then thirdly, Fred has Toyota World there in spring.
If you'll go see them, they will take great care of you.
Pat Goldwaite is the general manager.
Talk to him, tell him I sent you.
He'll make you a smoking deal on a Sienna or a Highlander.
Now, I mean, it's a pretty drastic step.
What are you guys going to be doing when you retire?
Well, we're going to be spending more time with our grandkids and there's two of them.
Well, there's five of them up in North Texas and two of them, Tom Ball.
Yeah.
They'll be taking them places and just we want to take trips now because we haven't been able to take trips in about six years.
Well, the Sienna is great for taking trips.
I'll tell you that they drive like a car, lots of room, lots of cargo area in the back.
All the Siennas are hybrids.
So the gas mileage is really good and all the Siennas are all wheel drive.
So if you get into some rough weather somewhere, then that's great.
I would tell you to drive both and make a good long test drive in the Highlander and the Sienna.
Make sure the Sienna is going to fit you guys well.
They're great for carrying kids and cargo and luggage.
So it might work out well for you, but I drive both just to be sure.
I appreciate the call, James.

Interesting story in this week's newsletter.
It's the news section where Jerry talks about a court case involving Hyundai and I guess a couple of dealerships
where a couple of cars in a vehicle repurchase program were part of a lawsuit.
The allegation is that Hyundai apparently crushed the cars.
They were used as evidence at the center of the lawsuit and Hyundai alleged that the two dealerships
intentionally damaged them to get the money back or the repurchase reimbursement going on.
Dealership denies those and you had really probably the best take on it.
The observation at the end of this story and that would be what?
If you're on a car dealership, don't sue your manufacturer.
Bite the hand.
It's just not smart.
It's not.
That's no way to get extra inventory.
No.
I'll tell you that.
I can't imagine a time when I would have ever considered suing Ford when I was a Ford dealer.
This is $10 million almost that they're having to pay.
That's crazy.
Yeah, that really is.
I've got a couple more court cases coming up in next weekend's newsletter next Friday.
Subscribe today.
You'll get yesterday's in your inbox immediately and you can join along with.
There was a lot of good information yesterday including pricing on the 2027 Kia Telluride hybrid.
That was surprisingly good.
Yeah, it was.
I was shocked.
That's sad that I can't get one right now.
I had a review of the all new Jeep Cherokee Limited Hybrid and Amy had a review of the
Honda CR-V Trail Sport Hybrid.
So, two hybrid SUVs, two brand new entries.
I like that.
In this week's free newsletter.
Rufus and Dallas, Rufus, what can I help you with?
Well, I'm on Social Security.
I get $1,800 a month.
Yeah.
Okay.
Then I went back to truck driving and waiting for December 2025.
So, I'm making real good money right now.
I owe less than $4,000 on 2014 F-150 pickup.
So, I don't want to sound stupid, but I know I should pay it off and then try to sell it
or trade it in, but that hybrid did you just advertise for $25,000 and it sounded real good.
Oh, that's a heck of a deal.
Now, how many miles are on the 2014 F-150?
Round 170, 171.
And what engines in it?
That's 5.0.
Okay.
Damn good engine.
Probably got some life left in it, but, you know, how'd you end up owing money on that
old truck?
Did you buy it used?
I didn't get it.
Yeah.
I didn't get it until the end of 2021 and it was not getting plus taxed, so it was $21,000.
So, I just got it paid down now to $3,000 something.
Are you going to continue to work?
Are you going to continue to keep driving the truck?
You know, I won't sound smart, but as long as God keeps me healthy, I'm not here making
anywhere from $7,000 to $1,500 a week, bring home.
That's good.
Yeah.
That's really good.
Plus my 1,800 miles of security.
So, as far as the doctor says, I'm 68 years old.
I'm in good health for the shape that I'm in.
I hear you.
I have four, I have four stents.
I have the high blood pressure and all that.
I take medicine, but everybody thinks I'm in my 50s and still I'm 68.
There you go.
So, I thank God, I thank God would keep me healthy enough to pay it off in five more
years, which would put me at 74, 75 years old.
All right.
But you still see a lot of 70 year old truck drivers out here.
Before we run out of time, I will tell you that your truck, it's going to start costing
you money and the deals on those little Mavericks, those deals on those little Mavericks are fantastic
right now.
So, I want you to go to five star Ford in Carrollton.
I want you to ask for Trey Russell.
He's the general manager and he's a dear friend of mine.
Tell him what we talked about and he'll pay your truck off and give you the equity off
the Maverick.
It's that simple.
Well, it's happy listener time here in the car pros show.
It's another great example of folks that take Jerry's advice on how to get a brand new vehicle
and lookie lookie the story that they tell.
For example, Craig in Houston was interested in talking to Mercedes Benz of West Houston
says Jerry took your advice, contacted Mitch and Mercedes Benz of West Houston.
That's Mitch Loftus, by the way.
Yeah, the general manager.
Absolutely.
And the car pro contact to officially.
