The Nissan Rogue is a popular SUV. In this segment, they’re basically saying it’s tested under harsh conditions to prove it can handle everyday wear and tear.
They’re saying the test is sped up—so instead of waiting years, they stress the car for months. The goal is to find problems early, but real life can still be different.
A corrosive chamber is a special testing room that speeds up rust and corrosion. It helps engineers predict how the car will survive bad weather over time.
Heat-baked means the car (or parts of it) are kept in very hot conditions for a long time. It’s a way to see what might wear out from heat over the years.
J.D. Power is a company that surveys and ranks cars based on how they’re built and how owners experience them. Here, they’re being used as evidence that Nissan is doing well on quality.
That phrase means the bigger pickup trucks—starting with the common “half-ton” size and going up. It’s a way of saying the deals are aimed at full-size trucks.
The Tesla Cybertruck is an electric pickup truck made by Tesla. Instead of using gasoline, it runs on electricity stored in a battery. People talk about it a lot because it’s different from most trucks and there have been news stories about how it performs in real life.
A V8 is a type of engine with eight cylinders. People often associate it with a deep sound and strong acceleration, and the speaker is saying this car delivers that kind of feel.
“Horses” means horsepower, which is how much power the engine makes. They’re saying this car still has plenty of power even in the six-cylinder version.
This is a buying-tradeoff concept: “best” typically means objective criteria like value, features, or practicality, while “most enjoyable” is about subjective driving comfort and satisfaction. The speaker frames the decision process around both, before recommending which option fits each category.
Safety features are the systems that help prevent accidents or reduce harm if something goes wrong. The speaker is saying the Lexus RX 350 has good safety tech.
“Creature features” means the nice comfort and convenience stuff in the car—like tech and comfort options. The host is saying the Lexus focuses more on safety than on extra “fun” features.
“Long haul” just means you’re planning to keep the car for a long time. The host is saying the RX 350 makes sense if you want a dependable car for years.
They’re saying the hybrid battery is the main thing to worry about as the car gets older. If the battery lasts a long time, the hybrid can be a great high-mileage choice.
They’re estimating how much you drive each year—15,000 miles annually. That helps them judge whether a car will likely stay trouble-free over a five-year period.
They’re giving a realistic example: if you drive about 15,000 miles per year, that’s about 75,000 miles in five years. They’re using that number to talk about how dependable these cars should be.
Subaru is a car brand that’s famous for all-wheel drive. The speaker is saying that many Subaru owners keep their cars for a long time, so a lot of them are still driving years later.
A test drive is the customer’s chance to drive the exact vehicle being considered, often arranged after the dealership has the car ready. The host notes that when the dealer knows what you’re shopping for, they can have the car prepared so the test drive can happen quickly.
A “trade” means you turn in your current car when buying a new one. Getting “more for the trade” usually lowers what you have to pay overall.

best deal vs closest dealer
They’re weighing two options: get the cheapest price even if you have to travel, or buy from a dealer near you even if it might cost more. It’s basically about what’s worth your time and money.

This is the CarPro Show, the home of straight talk and honest answers about everything automotive,
with Jerry Reynolds, the CarPro, a former two-term chairman of the Ford National
Dealer Council, a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame, and sixth time winner of the
Texas Auto Riders Association Award for Best Radio Show in Texas.
Jerry's partner is Todd Chambliss, great voiceover guy,
and sixth time winner of the Darche Championship at the Golden Spur Bar and Grill.
Here they are now on the CarPro Show.
Thank you very much. We appreciate you joining us today.
And if you're thinking about making a move with your transportation situation,
let's talk. Give us a call here on the Retail My Ride Studios in Dallas, Texas,
for the CarPro Show, 800-926-7777-80926-7777.
If you call now, you will get through, and we will get you on the air just as soon as possible.
I'll take calls in the order that they come in. So you call now 800-926-7777.
Here we are. We're in the last 10-day period of March, and we're in the final 10 days of
truck month for almost all the manufacturers that make big trucks, half tons and up,
but the ones that haven't declared it truck month have raised their incentives to match.
And so it might as well be truck month with Toyota and Chevrolet, and you know,
they're out there trying to match what Ford and General Motors is doing.
So the timing is great if you want a truck, any size truck. And I will tell you that when it's
truck month across the board, they include SUVs in their truck numbers. So there's great deals on
SUVs too. Lots of stuff going on out there in the market, and I will be happy to discuss anything
that you want to talk about, except mechanical questions right here on The Car Pro Show. 800-
I'm sorry, 800-926-7777. Coming up at 35 minutes after the hour, I've got a new song.
A new song you sing? Yes, I do. Okay. This makes number five?
I believe it is number five. I like that. And I will explain to you what the motivation was,
because I don't, I never put on my calendar to write a new song.
Inspired by something? Something spurs it in me. I'll sit down, I'll write it. I'll send it to
this little AI website. It'll, I tell it what I want it to sound like, and it gives me two or
three choices. If I don't like any of those, I scrap them, tell it two or three more things,
change something up, so it sounds different, until I find the one that I think is the winner.
Apparently it's a winning formula, folks. Love the songs.
Well, they do seem to love the songs. Who knows? That's Todd Jambus.
It is me, and you were mentioning the time is right, of course, with 10 days left in the month
before the end of the month and end of the quarter. And another thing I want to mention is that
with your network of car dealers, I mean, we talked a lot in the Dallas show just a little bit ago
about the way that car business kind of works and the fact that
everybody, these dealers, especially Jerry's dealers for sure, they do run a business and
they do have to make some money, but it's going to be the most fair, the most transparent,
and it's going to be the best experience ever, because you don't have to go with all of your
hackles up. You don't have to go in guarded. You can go in knowing that they're trying to get you
into the best scenario. They're going to make some money, sure, whether it's the short game,
long game, but more than more likely than not, you're going to walk out saying,
I didn't have to go and worry the whole time, the anxious parts taken away.
You get a good deal. Everybody's happy. That's really the whole point of what we do here on the
show. You just want a good deal. I mean, you want the dealer to make money, believe me.
And if you say you don't want a business to make money, you really need to take a look at yourself.
Yeah, that's true.
If that business isn't making money, they're not going to be there when you have a problem.
Exactly.
And so you want them to make money, but you don't want them to go on a cruise immediately
after you buy a car. You don't want to walk back in a week later and the guy's wearing a new Rolex.
You know, you want a fair deal. You want to win, win for everybody.
And that's what we tried to provide here. We had a caller in the first hour.
He spent six hours in a dealership and it was a Toyota dealership and the Toyota dealership
said the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my life, which is you don't want to lease a Toyota.
You want to buy a Toyota. Well, guess what? If you are not a high mileage driver and you like to
trade cars on a fairly regular basis, you should lease. And nothing leases better than a Toyota
or a Lexus. And he got mad left, called my dealer, had a deal within 20 minutes,
and they're bringing him the car.
Bringing him the car. That's unreal.
Because he was about a hundred miles away.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How easy is that?
Absolutely.
Let's go to the phones and talk to Brett in Spring, Texas in the Houston area.
Brett, welcome. How can I help you, sir?
Hi, guys.
Hi there.
Thank you.
Thanks for having me on the show. I'm curious about the autonomous cars now,
like the Tesla. And are they really something that just drives itself now and you get in and
tell it where you want to go? And is it legal in all states? Questions like that?
And are there other brands that I should look at besides Tesla that are doing the same thing?
Look, this is still in its infancy. We're not there yet. Most cars are level to autonomous.
That scale runs to five. So as you can see, two out of five, that's great,
unless the car is driving you and it kills you, which does happen.
Uh, we saw, we saw a case that popped up last week on the Tesla,
Cybertruck. It happened in Houston, as a matter of fact.
Wow.
She's driving up, got on an off-ramp, elevated off-ramp.
She had the self-driving system put. She had it engaged. It drove her straight into a wall.
If the, luckily, luckily there was a light post that stopped her because she had probably
busted through the wall and the truck would have fell, you know, 500 feet. It was on a real
high elevated. It was just, it's not, first off, she shouldn't have been doing that.
But second off, there's just too many things that are unknown. I've got, I've got a story
coming up in next week's free newsletter about Tesla and how the government is opening an
investigation into full self-driving. Every car I'm reviewing today, Brett has got
Lane Keep Assist. It's got automatic emergency braking and it's, it will, it's got stop and go
cruise control, adaptive cruise control. That's really all the elements to a self-driving car.
They'll steer themself. But if you aren't paying attention, you're making a really bad mistake.
You're taking your life in your own hands. We're not there yet. We're not anywhere close.
It's going to be a while. I appreciate the call, my friends.
And welcome back to the car pros show. The car pro himself is Jerry Reynolds and I'm Todd
Chambliss every single week. We have a classic car of the week this week. The car, I think you
said earlier, this is a seven digit car. Yeah, it's going to be, uh, it's going to bring over a
million. I'll be shocked if it doesn't, the Meekum auctions and Glendale today. This thing will
certainly turn every single head if you're driving around in this, but what we need is the correct
year making model of this particular car. Now where to find it? You need to go to Facebook and
our Facebook page is found at the link to it at the very bottom of car pro.com. That's also where
you can sign up for the newsletter and get that sent immediately and every week after. So here's
what you do. Go get that link to our Facebook page, guess the correct year making model and then
Monday all the correct guesses go into a digital hopper and we'll randomly pull a winner. What's
that winner going to get? An auto heat shield is perfectly for your car and with the very hot spring
like day over much of the south and the southwest where it's in the nineties, maybe even hiring
some parts that would really come in handy for you. Even, uh, even LA is, is setting records for
heat right now. It's kind of crazy. I know that Arizona, I think it's going to be upper nineties,
maybe even three digits over the weekend. Did I miss spring? It was here for about two hours the
other day. Oh, I missed it. All the, all the pollens here though. Oh, yes. I'm dealing with that right
now. Eight hundred nine to six, 77, 77. I hear people all the time say to me, I tried to get
through, but the lines are always busy. You know, at spring break week, we're not as busy on the
phones today as usual. So you can grab a line if you want to and just talk me and you. It's just
us. Forget the fact that people are listening on the radio. Don't worry about that. Are you
thinking about leasing? You're not sure what to do credit problems. Let's talk eight hundred
nine to six, 77, 77, eight hundred nine to six, 77, 77. I don't say this often, but I am going to
say it now. Okay. I'm ready. I don't want the car that I've had all week to go back Monday.
That's a pretty impressive car. I mean, speaking, we were talking about the classic car of the week.
I mean, this one you have, there's no way you can avoid not seeing this car. I mean,
it's bright orange. I know that you have a little color blind thing. Oh, I can tell orange.
But let's say there's no way you can mistake it for anything but bright neon orange,
beautiful car. That thing must purr like a kitten. It's unbelievable. And you know, the thing I love
about this car, I think maybe the most is the message because it's the 2026 Dodge Charger
Scat Pack. And what's what I love about it is the fact that Stellantis, the parent company that
bought the old Chrysler corporation, the parent company after several, it changed hands a lot,
but Stellantis has had it now for a decade or so, but they were going to go all electric. They
were going all in on electric. They even killed the Hemi. They killed the Challenger. They made
the Charger an electric car, which for an electric car, it was a great one, but it's still an
electric car when it needs a gasoline engine under it. And so for 2026, they brought it back.
Now, they didn't bring the Hemi back, but guess what? They brought back something better. They
brought back the Hurricane engine. And if you drive, I've had people on my Facebook page this
week, I don't want that car. It's not going to sell. Yes, it is because it's got 550 horses under
the hood. It sounds like a V8. It feels like a V8. It's got 531 foot pound of torque. It'll go zero
to 60 in 3.9 seconds and snap your neck just about. Absolutely. And it comes in a four door
version. Oh, really? I haven't had it yet. It's just coming out right now. That's interesting.
But this two door, it's got a massive back seat. You can easily put two adults back there. And they
even made it easy to get into the back seat. Did they know if you go and you push, you know,
how you push the front seat forward on a two door car? Yeah. It goes on the track and it moves up.
It slides all the way up to the steering wheel. Yeah. You can get in and out of the back seat
of this vehicle. Extremely easy. So you may not need the four door. You may not want it. I like the
looks of a two door. Me too. This car is bigger than it used to be. It's longer. It's wider. It's
taller. It's stickering completely loaded at just over $70,000. I know 70,000 may not be your budget
for but for a car of that kind of heaviness, the girth and all that power. That's pretty impressive.
So you get a six cylinder version of it that's still running over 300 horses and and you get it
for the low 40s. Oh man. It still drives the same. It's still a great car. All right. 800-926-7777

It's a song about loving your country in spite of its in spite of its faults. Woody in the Woodlands
as promised. You're next on The Car Pro Show. Hello Woody. Hey, how are you doing? I'm good pal.
What can I help you with? Well, we're looking for a new automobile for my wife and we've kind of
uh, what was it? Nautilus. That's the two. Yeah, that's the two row. And how long are we going to
keep looking to see which which which you think is the best of those three? Okay. And let me
preface this. There's a difference between the best and the most enjoyable. So question one,
how long is she likely to keep this thing? We'll be keeping it forever. I mean right now we're
driving a 2012 RX 350. Okay. So we're talking 13, 14 years. Yeah. Go with the Lexus. It wouldn't
have been my choice for the most enjoyable. That would have gone to the Lincoln. But I'm going to
tell you the Lexus RX 350 typically good for well over 200,000 miles. Neither one of the other two
that you named are good for that kind of mileage. Unless you want to spend a lot of money. People
go with the RX 350 again and again and again because they're so good. And look, don't get me
wrong. It's not there's nothing wrong with it. It's a comfortable SUV. It's easy to drive. It's got
great safety features. It doesn't have as comfortable seats as the Nautilus. It doesn't
have all the bells and whistles that you get with the Genesis, which has got some really cool
features, not safety features. I'm just talking about creature features. But for the long haul,
if I'm making this decision today, I'm going to go and I'm going to get the Lexus RX 350 and I got a
great dealer at my website to help you. If the last car you bought made your blood pressure reading
higher than your SATs, let's fix that. Call Jerry Reynolds, the car pro on the chase dot com car

in partnership with Kansas crossing casino and hotel was it yesterday when I got an email from
one Jerry Reynolds you know the car pro guy yes about another song a brand new song that he's just
in case you were new to the show Jerry has a has an untapped talent that we have discovered
in the last few uh couple of months he's taken to writing songs like doing some song writing then
letting some artificial intelligence go and flesh out the rest of it get the singer and all that
kind of thing with technology you can do that so Jerry has another song that was inspired by
a recent event it was it it hit me the other day as I was watching the news about the 19 year old
in Iran that was publicly hanged because he was disagreeing with his government it's unreal
that's hard to fathom yeah and apparently there were more than just him he was he was kind of a
famous athlete there but you know it dawned on me do you ever think about how lucky you got
to be born in the United States because we can't control that we we don't we we could have been
born anywhere in the world yeah any third third world country we could have been born in Iran
sure Somalia I mean you name it but you were born here and yet all the bitchin that goes on
about the country yeah and all the division and it just it hit me wow we are really lucky
to be here so I wrote a song that's called still worth the fight and in the chorus
it says before you say this country's lost its way take a breath and remember what it took
to get here today yeah we got scars yeah we got flaws but freedom doesn't come without a cost
so this will be a next week's free weekly newsletter so without any further ado still worth the fight
there's a flag in my neighbor's front yard
the faded red white blue but it stood through it all seen the storms seen the years rolled by
still catching that same proud wind in the sky
through blood sweat and the hands of the brave
Everything we've got is what they gave
Before you say this country's lost its way
Take a breath, remember what it took to get here today
Yeah, we've got scars, yeah, we've got flaws
But freedoms never come without a cost
From every small town to these city lights
There's a million reasons we still stand and fight
After all these years through the wrong and right, yeah
It's still the best damn country on this earth tonight
There's a soldier watching over foreign land
Missing everything just to take a stand
There's a siren screaming through the night
Somebody running in to make it right
I hear people say they'll walk away
But there ain't another place built this way
Try living where your voice don't count
Where hopes are things you live without
Yeah, we've got scars, yeah, we've got flaws
But freedoms never come without a cost
From every small town to these city lights
There's a million reasons we still stand and fight
After all these years through the wrong and right, yeah
Two hundred fifty years and holding on
We've been, we break, but we're never gone
If you've ever stood for that anthem sound
Hand on your heart
When the flag comes out
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Oh
Tell you what, we're going to run up against the clock here.
If you can hang on with me one more time, we'll come back.
I'll get you right back on and we'll pick this up.
I got some thoughts on those three that you picked out.
We'll be right back, Mark. Stay with us.

Well, the most clicked item in this week's newsletter,
which by the way, if you're not getting the newsletter,
why are you not getting the free newsletter where your address isn't going to be sold
and you're missing out on all this great information,
but you can do a good remedy that CarPro.com sign up at the very bottom
and get that number one click from the one that was released yesterday,
the top 20 best selling new vehicles in February of 2026.
Normally you see the Toyota RAV4 pretty high up there.
It's kind of low because as you mentioned, the Dallas show, they changed models.
They have a 2026 and just starting to come in.
So there's that, but if you want to see where everything lies,
what's number one and what's on the list.
It's a good way to go and kind of gauge where things are of the manufacturers
who are reporting, not everybody does.
Yeah.
So there's that.
And forgive me for my video of the week.
It's funny.
It's funny.
It's very funny, but it's a little bit.
It's not PC.
No, not at all.
You could never do this today.
Probably not.
Mark, let's go back to either the Forster, the CRV or the CX 15.
If you just joined us, Mark is going to get a hybrid SUV for his spouse.
Now, Mark, how long do you think y'all will keep this vehicle?
I would say probably at least five years.
Okay.
Every one of those will be great for five years,
unless you're really driving a lot of miles.
I'd put the Forster and the CX 50 in the 150,000 mile range
before you have any kind of problems whatsoever.
I would put the CRV higher than that.
We've got now enough history on the Honda Hybrid system
that I'm comfortable saying it's probably a 200,000 mile hybrid.
The biggest problem you're looking for is the hybrid battery.
I think Honda's got it down now to 200,000 miles.
The Forster and the Mazda may do that as well.
We just don't know yet.
They're too new, especially Subaru.
I love Subaru.
I'm nervous about and I reviewed the Forster Hybrid.
It's on my website.
It's great and I love Subaru as a car company.
I love everything they build.
I've always been a huge Subaru fan, primarily for their safety system.
I think in your case, any of those three would get you guys five years at average miles,
which means 15,000 miles a year.
We're talking about 75,000 miles over five years.
I think any of those would be great.
It just gets down to which one do you like the best.
Personally, I like the Forster the best.
Again, part of that is because of the safety system.
Part of it is because of their all wheel drive system.
Part of it is because their quality is as good as Toyota and Honda, in my opinion.
They don't get the accolades for quality that Toyota and Honda do and they really deserve to.
People who...
You look at the stats and they run a commercial.
I think the number is 92% of the Subaru's sold in the past 20 years are still on the road.
That's strong.
That's saying a lot.
I noticed any car that people buy again and again.
That's one of those.
It's like some of the Lexus models.
People who buy Subaru's, they go out and they look and they try to find something else,
but they end back up with a Subaru because of their experience with it.
I think I'd go with any of those three and I think you guys are going to have a great vehicle that's going to get great gas mileage.
Let's decide which one is the best for y'all.
Which one take good test drives with my dealers and they'll let you go for half hour or more.
See which one fits the best.
See which one you see out of the best.
See which one's easiest to park and then make a decision.
I've got good dealers for all of them.
Whether you want an SUV, a truck or what is it called?
Oh yeah, a car.

These are great stories from people that decided to listen to Jerry, take his advice,
go through the website, find a dealer and get the car pro VIP experience
and great stories to share like Sharon over in Houston at Baytown Hyundai's where she went.
She made an appointment, salesperson waiting for her when she got there.
Which is normal, that happens every time I use somebody at one of your dealerships.
Yeah, it's supposed to happen.
Yep, and a lot of times if they know what kind of car you're going to get,
they'll have it gassed up, loaded, ready and cranked and you can just hop in
and you can go ahead and do the test drive.
Yeah, I love that.
She said, dealt with Adrian, who of course we have dealt with on cutting commercials for Baytown Hyundai.
He's very knowledgeable, answered all her questions about the Tucson and other cars she had on her list.
She ended up with the Tucson Limited.
Nice.
Hyundai Tucson Limited would definitely deal with this dealership at Adrian again.
And in Dallas Fort Worth at Huffines Hyundai McKinney, a Hyundai Tucson SEL is what Kathy ended up with.
Says that Daniel there was awesome, contacted her in a timely manner, set up an appointment,
everything was smoothly, got even more for the trade than she was expecting.
Oh nice, that's always a nice surprise.
Absolutely, yeah.
Well there you go.
That's what happens when you go to carpro.com and click on find a car pro certified dealer near you.
Yeah, you may have to drive a little bit, but guess what?
It's okay, you can service your car closer to home once you get it.
I live in Dallas.
I bought two new Corvettes in Houston because that's where the best deal was.
And that's 300 miles from me.
So, you know, you got to pick your battles.
You want the best deal or you want the closest dealer?
Because odds of you having a great dealer close to you ain't very good.
We got two more hours to go.

About this episode
Jerry Reynolds and Todd Chambliss kick off with “truck month” style incentives nearing month/quarter end, plus leasing vs buying advice and why dealers should be transparent and profitable. A caller shares a bad dealership experience that flipped quickly after getting a better deal. They debate autonomous tech, stressing it’s still early and not truly legal/safe everywhere, citing a recent Tesla incident. The show also spotlights a classic car guessing game, a 2026 Dodge Charger Scat Pack with the return of the Hurricane engine, and a long-term SUV comparison (Lexus RX 350 vs others, plus hybrid SUV picks).
