Tyraq is a company that sells tires and tries to make it easier to pick the right ones. They also mention extra perks like shipping and protection for tire damage.
Bundling means getting your home insurance and car insurance from the same company. Often it comes with a discount, but you should still check what’s covered and what you’d pay if you had a claim.
State Farm is an insurance company. In this segment, they’re mentioned as offering a pricing plan that may help you save money when you insure both your home and your car.
Toyota is a big Japanese car brand. The host is saying that when Toyota (and other Japanese brands) are trying to hit sales goals, it can change deals on new and used cars.
Honda is a major car brand from Japan. When Honda is trying to sell more near the end of the year, it can lead to better deals on new cars and change what happens to used-car prices.
A shortage of used cars means fewer pre-owned cars are available than people want. When that happens, used cars often cost more and trade-ins can be worth more.
“Seven passenger” means the SUV can seat up to seven people. That usually requires extra seats in the back and can affect how much room you have for luggage.
They’re telling you to buy a windshield cover/shield from AutoHeatShield.com. The idea is that it blocks a lot of the sun and heat from getting into the car.
They’re talking about a 2020 Buick Encore. They want to know what it might be worth as a trade-in based on how old it is, how many miles it has, and whether it’s in good shape.
The Kia Sportage is a popular compact SUV. In this segment, it’s being recommended as a good-value choice, especially because of the warranty and pricing.
Incentives are deals from the manufacturer that can lower what you pay. Here, they’re saying the Tahoe doesn’t usually have many of these, so it’s a good time to shop.
A competitive market is where lots of car dealers are competing for your business. That competition can lead to better deals than in areas with fewer dealers.
Dealer competition is when multiple dealerships are trying to sell you the same car. When they compete hard, you may have more room to negotiate or find lower prices.
The Grand Highlander is a bigger Toyota SUV with three rows. The host is saying it’s roomier and feels more upscale, and when you add options it can cost nearly as much as a Lexus.
Car makers often change cars from year to year. For 2026, this means some models got refreshed or redesigned, so the newest ones may have updated features or improvements.
A lot of cars need computer chips, and there weren’t enough of them for a while. That made it harder for dealers to get inventory, so some dealers couldn’t participate as much.
A warranty is basically a promise that certain repairs will be paid for. The caller is worried because once it ends, they’ll be paying for repairs themselves.

On the CarPro Show. Thank you for joining us. This is the CarPro Show.
80926. 7777 is the number. 80926. 7777. We're coming to you live
from theretailmyride.com studios in Dallas, Texas at the American Airlines Center.
And we're going to be with you for this entire hour, and happy to help you make a good smart
car buying decision, because timing is everything when you go to get a car. And we are here at a
crunch time. Tuesday is the end of the month. It's the end of the first quarter. It's the end of
truck month all over the country. It's the end of the fiscal year for any Japanese-based car company.
Just a few of them is the big ones. Toyota, Honda, Mazda. All those are really putting the
push on for the end of the year. So if you would like to, if you're thinking about making a move,
let's talk. Don't go on your own. Let me help you. I've been doing this a very, very long time.
Owned a string of dealerships throughout my career. And I've been on the air helping people buy cars
for 24 and a half years. And I'd be happy to help you. Just tell me what you're thinking.
Let's kick it around together. I'll tell you if I think you've got a great idea, or maybe there's
a better idea out there somewhere. And I'll suggest that to you. How to buy it, where to buy it,
what to buy. You're down to between a few cars that you're interested in. I drive 100 of them a year.
And I'd be happy to give you my opinion on which one I think is best, unbiased.
So there we go. Todd Jambles, as you know, is here. Yes. Excited to be here at this time,
where you mentioned all this stuff, the end of the month coming up, the end of the quarter,
all the different things. And including all that, trade-ins are still just at a record high value.
If you want to take a trade-in and take advantage of this used car market, this would be the time,
would it not? Yeah, boy, I wrote a long, long article that was in yesterday's free weekly newsletter
about the current used car market. And I wrote it because it's unusual. Usually we don't see
huge rebates on new cars. When we see those, typically it drops the price of used cars,
because more people go new. But right now, we've got the big incentives on new because
the manufacturers are trying to force a market that's really not there. There's a lot of uncertainty
between gas prices and the war that's going on, interest rates, the price of new cars being
at $50,000. There's a lot of uncertainty there. So people are thinking new, but they're buying
used in a lot of cases. And that has caused somewhat of a shortage of used cars. The dealers
are scurrying to get used car inventory right now. Oh, you've already had a couple of folks that
I think you were in contact with on the earlier show begging for used vehicles when they're
looking for them. Absolutely. And the dealers are, if they've got an opportunity to trade
for a nice used car right now, they are paying top dollar plus. So you've got great deals on
new cars. You've got high trade values. I mean, it's all there. It's going to change after Tuesday.
So let's talk 809267777. You had some credit problems? I got ways that we can help with that
as well. Let's talk to David in Rockwall, Texas in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. David, welcome.
How could I help you? Hello, sir. Long time listener. First time caller. Good to have you.
Thank you. My wife and I just sold a couple of months ago her 2022 Lincoln Aviator.
Sold a couple of months ago and she had a total of 18,000 miles on it.
And she'd been driving my truck for a couple of months now, but she's ready for her own car.
David, I'm surprised. What did she not like about the Lincoln?
It's complicated in that it was a lot of vehicle. We had paid cash for it,
a lot of vehicle for her. And she just rarely drove it, as you can tell from the miles.
She liked the car, loved the car. She didn't like the fact that it was so beautiful and so nice
that she would also park it, you know, when she went with the target or, you know, wherever
stores, she'd park it a mile away because she didn't want anybody to hit it with their door.
Yep. I get it. I've been there. She got, she's okay. So she got,
she got a little tired about that and just never driving it. And they offered a very good price
for it. And so we sold it, but now she's like getting something new, but not as luxury, not as
upscale. Okay. So she bought two nice of a vehicle. I get it. All right. So what are y'all, what,
what size are y'all looking at if you assume you're sticking with an SUV?
Yes. And that mid-size, she would love to have the seven passenger,
um, one, um, you know, six to seven passengers and really want your opinion, but she, we have looked
at the Hyundai Palisade. We've looked at, um, Toyota Highlander and even the Mazda, I think
it's the CX-90. Yep. And we're looking to get something maybe, you know, by the end of the month
before those end of month deals go away and just wanted to see what you would recommend.
David, what's y'all's, what is y'all's main criteria? What, what's your hot button? What
would be number one on the list? If I said to you, what's the most important thing to you besides
safety? I believe it would be, it would probably be if everything was equal, the seven passenger,
um, and I guess we're really looking to take advantage. We, she's totally conflicting. I'm,
I'm not, but, um, taking advantage of maybe some of this real low, um, financing options
that are currently available. So here's, I love the Palisade and the Telluride both. I've had the,
the new Palisade, uh, we've not had the new Telluride yet. It's just now starting to arrive.
I imagine we'll have it in the next couple of weeks.
I dearly love the CX-90. You really hit me on that one. And I love it for the interiors.
I love their hybrid system. And I typically will tell you to go Toyota if we're talking hybrids,
but this Master System is really something that's special. I mean, it's really good.
Um, so there's not going to be any deals on a Palisade or Telluride. They're too new,
but if you guys are wanting something, I'd narrow it down to the Highlander, Grand Highlander,
or the CX-90. And I would tell you I've got a Mazda dealer in Mesquite that's awesome
in my website. And I've got Freeman Toyota. Y'all could look at the other two.
The CX-90 is going to be the bargain right now, though. That's the truth. I appreciate the call.
Well, you want to talk about a classic car. We've got one for you for the classic car of the week
on our Facebook page, which is easy to access off carpro.com. Go to the bottom. There's a link
there. You can follow that and then follow the page because there's all kinds of good stuff on
there this week. Classic car of the week. Of course, it reminds me of the old Chitty Chitty
Bang Bang movie from way back in the day. And you can go and check it out. Now, here's a little bit
of a spoiler. The part of the name of the car is already on the car. You can see it right there.
But make you guess as to what year making model it is. Monday, we take all the right guesses. We
randomly draw a winner. You can win your very own Auto Heat Shield. Perfect for this time of year.
Whether it's kind of cool outside, whether it's going to be steaming hot, it's always
something that I keep in the car. I recommend you do. But it all starts on our Facebook page.
Go there and check it out. And good luck. Yeah, there you go. And if you don't want to play the
contest, we get it. Go to AutoHeatShield.com and get yourself one, though, because it is an amazing
product. It just it covers the entire windshield. There's no sun coming through whatsoever.
800-926-7777. Well, let's just get this over with. Oh, no. Okay.
You got 30 seconds to go out and the time starts now.
Well, it started off with me being my video of the week being number five, and yours
and number six. However, there was an update to that, which we haven't received in an hour or so.
Yes, we have. We just got one. Okay. Before you tell me, I had risen from five to four.
So what's the story now? You're still at four. Okay. Are you still at six? No, I'm at seven. Oh,
dear. And I'm not going to, I'm not going to tell the story. I told it in the Dallas show,
but I'm not going to tell the story about how I took one for the team. You fell in the sword.
I put my, I switched videos at the last minute because I wanted people to see this one knowing
it probably wasn't going to get the clicks that yours did. But you did it at a pity for me.
The audience comes first. Okay. Always. All right then. Fair enough. And gloating over.
This is your semi-annual victory. Okay. I'll take whatever I can get. You might as well enjoy it.
Why not? Still one line open at 800-926-7777. But next up is Renee in Houston. Hello, Renee.
Thank you for calling. Hello. How are you? I'm good. What could I do for you?
Yeah. I have a 2020 Buick Encore with about $15,000 and rules on it. Yeah. I still own
about $5,000 with another two weeks to pay. But I'm interested in maybe finding out what kind of
a ballpark figure I could get for this vehicle and see what maybe I could trade into that would
be a good deal. Yeah. And did you buy the Encore brand new? Yes, I did. Okay. So you're five years
old. You got almost 60,000 miles. That is, you know, right below average mileage, which is good.
Is it in good shape? Yeah, it's in good shape. Okay. Good. Well, it's a good piece of merchandise.
The SUV market is very good right now. That one can still be certified if you trade it before
60,000 miles. And that really helps your value. So you're on a little bit of a short time window
here. But if you're going to do something, I tell you to do it before Tuesday anyway,
because of the incentives that are out there. Now, as far as its value, go to my website,
carpro.com. At the top of the page, click sell your car, put the information in there. Let's get
you a bid on it. They'll give you a real solid bid. That's going to be a very, very good indicator
of what you're going to get for a trade value. And if you end up with, if the trade value, one of my
other dealers there in Houston comes in at less than that, then just sell it to those people.
But you're going to know what it's worth. And, you know, that's, that's a number that you're
going to get that they're willing to write a check for. So as far as replacements,
I think you got to look at the key of Sportage for sure. It's a great SUV about the same size.
I would look at the Chevy Equinox, which has got some great incentives right now. I've got great
Chevy dealers there in Houston. Let's see. What else could you look at? I'd look at the Mazda
CX 50. It's a great SUV. And it's probably got the nicest interior. Probably the least expensive
of that group is going to be the key of Sportage. And you're going to get that 10-year, 100,000
mile warranty. Of course, the Toyota RAV4 is always going to be a good choice. So I would,
I would do a little looking around, but I'll do it quick. You've got a couple of deadlines
coming up that could really save you some money. Renee, they're all at CarPro.com.
Almost everybody thinks they know about cars, but the CarPro Jerry Reynolds actually does know.
Call the CarPro show now on the chaise.com CarPro listener line at 1-800-926-7777.
Next up on the CarPro show, Jack in Austin. Jack, welcome. What can I do for you?
Hey, Jerry. It's a real pleasure talking to you. I've been listening to you for years.
Thank you, sir.
You've taken my call.
I appreciate you.
I'm awesome. Well, thank you. I'm looking for getting into a new Tahoe in the next year. I know
Chevy's coming out with a new model, updated model in the next nine months or so, maybe.
I didn't know if you thought that there was going to be enough new bells and whistles on that new
model to wait for it or to try to get into the current model and maybe get a discount.
Yeah. And see, I'm hearing that the next changeover is 2028, which would be seven years,
because the big last change was 2021. And that's typically the cycle that Chevrolet has. I'm
large a carryover. So there'll be a few changes. Like I hear it's getting a bigger screen for the
right in the center of the dash, which that wouldn't surprise me. Everybody's going to
bigger screens. But I believe if it were me, I'd try to snag a 2026 and get a bargain on one.
And there are some incentives on it right now, which has gotten to be a little bit rare for Tahoe.
So I think I think I'd go ahead and do something now if I were you.
Okay. They're pretty, pretty proud of the Tahoe. So getting some discounts on it would be good.
One other question. Would you ever have any reservations driving like the first
year of a new model or like a big makeover? You think there's like bugs that would get worked out?
I bought them myself many times because I'm one of those, if something new and
flashy is coming out, I kind of like to be one of the first. I bought a lot of new,
with the testing today, Jack, that they do. And you can thank the internet for this,
because if they come out with a brand new vehicle and it's getting all this publicity and suddenly
there's a major issue, it's going to be all over the internet. And so they're very careful about
that. I would not be hesitant. Ryan Stathos is my man at Covert Chivalier Hutto. Talk to him.
If the last car you bought made your blood pressure reading higher than your SATs,
let's fix that. Call Jerry Reynolds, the car pro on the chaise.com car pro listener line

And welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro and me, Todd Chandlis. By the
way, I noticed there were some interesting news that happened the last 24 hours that you may have
a little bit of a connection with and involves a very famous golfer. Oh, and he's a fellow named
Tiger. Oh, yes. That's that's what they call him. And apparently, yeah. And apparently,
there is a little connection of say a big connection between you and Tiger
with two different mishaps that have happened the last. Is that a good term to use?
I'd say that's probably fair. Okay. And just trying to be very nice and just walk in on
eggshells here a little bit. Don't want to start accusing people of stuff, but there is a definite
connection between the two of you. Now, I'm not saying that you caused the mishap, but
there's a definite. Everybody else is.
I'm getting blamed all over Facebook. That's not fair at all, is it? No. So what is that connection
that you have with Tiger Woods, especially with the vehicle that he was driving? Go back to April
of 2021. All right, then. The Genesis GV80 had just come out. In fact, I don't think the dealers
had even had them yet, but I had one for review. Absolutely loved it. Still to this day, I love
the GV80. It's beautiful car. Tiger was at a golf tournament in California. I remember that.
He was driving way, way, way too fast. Oh, dear. And Genesis had put a bunch of the GV80s out for the
golfers to drive to get them some publicity because it was a brand new vehicle. Absolutely,
sure. Tiger absolutely obliterated one. I mean, rolled it multiple times into a tree off a cliff.
It was beaten up. And he was too. Yes, he was. He was first lucky to be alive. And second lucky,
he didn't lose his leg. Yeah. He had a severe leg injury. So he and I had the GV80 at the same time.
Just to make sure the record is straight. You didn't roll yours or crash yours, right?
I didn't even scratch mine. Good. Good. So yesterday, near his home in Florida,
Tiger is once again driving way too fast, which apparently we have that in common.
The only thing is, I'm actually a very good fast driver. That works. And in a residential area,
potentially under the influence of something. Still to be determined, but yes. Yes. And hit
some sort of landscaping truck and trailer and flipped a blue Range Rover. So my question is,
what were you driving yesterday? A blue Range Rover.
Same vehicle, same color. It's really eerie. And the whole Facebook nation is blaming me
because Tiger had a wreck. You're a little far away to really be that effective.
Just a kawinky dink, right? Let me tell you guys something. You have no idea how hard it is to
turn a full size Range Rover over. How many pounds do you think that is? It's 5,850 pounds.
Is the one that I've got right now. And he's got the same one. That's like a tank. Well,
he had the same one. It's totaled. And it was turned on its side, the driver's side being down,
right? Yes. He had to crawl out the passenger side. Lucky he wasn't hurt. I'm glad he wasn't hurt,
but he's got... There goes the comeback that I was looking forward to. We all were pulling for
him. Yeah, we all were. Yeah, absolutely. I hate that. Tiger, if you're listening, get a driver.
Please. Get a driver. Oh my gosh. You can afford a driver. Come on. You can afford a driver.
Let's talk to Shorty in Corpus Christi, Texas. Shorty, what's happening?
Hey, Jerry, I've got a two-part question. All right. I want your opinion of the Toyota Highlander,
the longer version. I guess they call it the Grand. Yes, the Grand Highlander.
What do you think of it? And to me living in Corpus, would I be better off financially
coming to Houston and the Houston area to buy one? I can tell you I have a lot of Corpus Christi
listeners that do that after they've shopped in Corpus Christi. Look, the reality is Houston is
probably the most competitive market I know of anywhere in America. And part of the reason is
there's so doggone many dealers there, and they just beat each other up. They're used to selling
vehicles very near or under their cost, and that is the God's honest truth. Anybody in the car
business in Houston will tell you it's the biggest horror market that they've ever worked in. Can I
say that word? I think you just did. Okay. I was kind of surprised by that. I don't think it's on the
list. We'll find out. Get the letters later. Yeah. So, you know, when you get in a smaller market,
not the Corpus Christi is a small town, but the dealers, there's not near as many dealers in
their spread out. So, they don't feel like people will shop as hard as the people in Houston.
So, I think the answer to the question is I'd say there's at least a 90% chance,
especially with my connections, that you'll get a much better price in Houston. Then once you get it,
you can service it at one of the local dealers there on the coast. But, you know, I think to buy
one, I'd certainly go through one of my dealers at the website at least to get a price. Worst case,
you can keep your Corpus dealer honest. Right. How would you recommend them in the Houston area
or Toyota? I've got some great ones. Fred has Toyotas, the number one Toyota dealer in the state
of Texas. They're averaging nowadays about 800 Toyotas a month, which is a huge number.
And they really take great care of my dealers. Plus, they got the best selection anywhere.
Your first question was about the Grand Highlander. I reviewed it when it first came out.
I've reviewed it once since then. I've had the 2025 model earlier this year.
It's fantastic. It really, truly is a wonderful. I really thought that when it came out, it was
going to be a fancy Highlander. And it's not. It's on a completely different chassis. It's a
completely different setup. It's got more third row seat room. It's got more second row seat room.
It's got more cargo area. And it is almost a Lexus. It's that nice inside.
So that presents a problem because when you get the Grand Highlander completely loaded,
you're very near the price of the Lexus TX. And that makes it a little bit of an interesting
scenario. So you didn't mention a Lexus. And I'm not trying to talk you out of a
Toyota and into a Lexus. I'm just telling you, it might be worth looking at. But the Grand Highlander
is by far the nicest Toyota that Toyotas ever built. And it's got all premium materials inside.
It is truly almost a Lexus. So I'd look at it. I've got a great Lexus dealer in Houston too.
You might talk to them. You may think you know a lot about cars, but you may also think you can
quarter back the Dallas Cowboys. Get real and get expert advice about the cars from the CarPro

Well, if you're interested in looking at some of the all new redesigned and updated vehicles
for 2026, there's a handy little list of the cars that are out there that have been redesigned and
updated for 2026 that you might want to choose from. And somebody's done a little bit of homework
ahead of you. AutoTrader in the newsletter is under the new section has the 10 best new cars of 2026.
And well, some pretty familiar names on there. Of course, you've got the, I think there are 10
listed here and they're in alphabetical order. Apparently they do all the work and they qualify
with a base model of a vehicle starting below $100,000. Most cars on the list are thousands of
dollars below that, but it's a good little list to go and check out. These aren't the high, high,
high level. These are more in the range of what most people probably would shop for.
Yeah. And I like AutoTrader reviews. We're pretty.
You use those pretty often, actually. They're actually, they do a good job better than some
of the others. Two quick announcements. Round Rock Toyota is back to you Houston folks.
I'm sorry, Austin folks, Round Rock Toyota. And we've, they were on the show with us once before,
and then when cars got so short in supply, they had to drop out. We lost some dealers,
you know, after COVID and the microchip shortage and all that stuff, but they're back.
Round Rock Toyota, Taylor Peterson's my man there for you to go see him. And he will take great
care of you and Lubbock, WKFYO. We are going to three hours with them next week. That is awesome.
You've only been getting two, but you're going to get all three hours live 11 to two starting
next week there in Lubbock. That is good news. Pickle to death. We love our Lubbock Listers.
They are some of the best callers we get. Oh, sure. Love them. And I'm on KFYO every Thursday
morning at 735 with test drive of the week. Test drive of the week. I like that.
Lee in Houston. What can I do for you? Good morning gentlemen. Hey there. Hey.
Good to, good to talk to you again. Kind of surprising because I talked to y'all a few years
ago about this. I'm a car guy. I love cars. I've had a bunch of cool cars, but I also drive a lot
for work. And it was about three and a half years ago that my Subaru WRX was just way too
expensive to keep driving for work. And I ended up picking up 2019 jet off with only 30,000 miles
and extended warranty to 150. Nice. And my soul was crushed because the car had no soul and no
personality, but it has been a trooper. I'm at 135,000 miles now, had one problem the entire
time that was fixed under warranty. And I'm pleased, but I'm nervous because I'm about to hit that 150
K and bust out of the warranty. And having a modern German car without a warranty has me scared.
Should I dump this and get another off? Or should I just drive until the wheels
then get another off lead? Oh, by the way, annual, which I know they don't make no parking,
which hurts my heart a little bit. Yeah, I hear you. You know,
I always tried to tell people, hey, you don't need to do anything. You keep what you got.
But I got to tell you, Volkswagen's building a much better car today than they did in 2019.
Now you've had good luck and I'm proud of that. I'm glad you did. Sounds like you're driving a
lot of highway miles, which isn't nearly as hard on a car. I drive about 30 to 35,000 miles a year
all highway in Texas. I just did a trip from Corpus Christi to Stephenville to Guiman, Oklahoma,
north of Amarillo and back in eight days. Wow. I would tell you that you don't have to do anything
now because you got coverage. But before 150 goes before that gets there, then I would trade it
while it's still running and driving good, while you maximize the value. No legitimate warranty
company is going to sell you another warranty on 150,000 mile Volkswagen, not even Chase,
which I endorse, Chase.com. But they're not going to be able to help with that. I think it's time.
And I hope you get it to 150 with no big problems.
It's that time of the hour where we talk about the happy listeners. These are folks that have
a great story to tell because they have followed Jerry's advice and they have gotten the best car
buying experience you could ever have. For example, Melissa, let us know about an experience that she
recently had at Park Place Volvo in Dallas, Fort Worth, said she had an absolutely fantastic
experience getting her car through the car pro program at Park Place Volvo. Yeah. Leslie made
the whole process smooth, stress free, and actually enjoyable saying a lot about buying a car. She
says she's been through the ringer apparently when trying to buy a car. She says Leslie was
knowledgeable, attentive, truly had her best interest at heart from start to finish, no pressure,
no games, just top tier service and professionalism. So if you're buying a car, she recommends talking
to Leslie over at Park Place Volvo, hands down a five star experience. Well, you're going to
talk to Kurt for Grace first. Kurt's the general manager. And then you talked to Leslie who was
probably helping her figure out the car and get things all ready to go. Got you.
That's exactly right. And I got to tell you, Kurt and I go back a lot more years than I'm
willing to admit. Okay. I mean, way back. Oh, really? Yeah. Great guy. Great guy. Tickle to death
when he went there. I immediately got in touch with him and said, Hey, you got to be on the show.
Because there's not a lot of Volvo dealers around anyway, and to find one with Kurt's
pedigree in the car business. And the Park Place name too. Yeah, especially with luxury cars. Oh,
yeah. You're going to have a great experience at Park Place. No question. Now, if we lose you

About this episode
The CarPro Show focuses on why timing is everything right now: end-of-month, end-of-quarter, and big manufacturer pushes are creating strong incentives on new cars while used inventory is tight. Trade-ins are still bringing record values, and dealers are paying top dollar for clean, low-mileage vehicles—especially if you act before Tuesday. Callers discuss choosing a 7-passenger SUV (Palisade/Telluride/Highlander/CX-90), trading a 2020 Buick Encore, and whether to wait for a new Tahoe. There’s also a Tiger Woods/Genesis GV80 crash “connection” story and advice on warranty timing for a high-mileage VW.
