Used car value is how much money a used car is worth when you want to buy or sell it. It changes depending on how many cars are available and how many people want to buy them.
New car incentives are deals or discounts that car makers or sellers offer to make new cars cheaper or easier to buy. These deals can also change how much used cars cost.
Buying a car online means you do most of the work on the internet first, like finding the car and talking to the dealer, so when you visit the dealership, everything is ready and faster.

Welcome to the CarPro show. Jerry Reynolds the CarPro was in the auto industry
for over 35 years. And in addition to getting his sixth win from the Texas
Auto Writers Association for Best Radio Show in Texas, he's a member of the
Texas Radio Hall of Fame, along with fellow members, Dan Rather and George
Carlin. His co-host, Todd Chambliss, just became a member of Applebee's Hall of
Fame for finishing off 84 chicken nuggets without using a dipping sauce. Now let's
get to straight talk and honest answers about everything automotive on the CarPro
show.
Well, hi there. Welcome to the CarPro show. We appreciate you joining us today.
Then we're going to be on a three hour trip to help you make a good car buying
decision. So if you would like to pick my brain on what's going on in the
market right now, I will tell you the incentives for March. We haven't talked
since last weekend. The incentives for March are just outstanding. I was so
surprised how good they were. They were great the second half of February. They
got even better for March. So if you put that decision off, spring market, dealers
are ready. Dealers got inventory. They got too much inventory actually. Use car
value still sky high. Watch the auction this week. I was so surprised. I thought
because the incentives were so good on new cars that typically lowers the prices
of used cars as dealers at the auction buying inventory are scared that a used
car is going to be about the same price as a new car because the incentives
right didn't slow prices down on used cars one bit. In fact, even electric cars
were up this past week and they've been on the they've been in the cellar for a
while. So everything's up. Who knows what's going on. I do know this. It's a
great time for you to save a lot of money. So let's talk 800 926 7777 800 926 7777.
That's the phone number here till 2pm central noon Pacific. If you would like
to call it any time. I'd love to talk to you and so would Todd Chambliss. I would
like to talk to you. You never talked to anybody unless they say something to me
specifically. No, I'm just sort of here to kind of bounce things off of it. We've
got lots of rain and stormy weather here in the Dallas, Fort Worth area where we
broadcast from. And so I was talking to Jerry earlier today to say, Hey, you know,
you're a former dealer. How does a dealer treat this kind of weather? I mean,
there are some dealers who obviously will go above and beyond Jerry's dealers,
certainly do. And that's the one you want to deal with. But you were saying that
this kind of a thing may turn some people away. But really, it's a good opportunity
to go and get a car, even if the weather is not the best in the world. Yeah,
dealers are very eager on the days when the weather is not great. And you know,
they're here's here's the mindset. You wake up on a Saturday morning. Saturday's
your big day of the week. You look outside and it's raining.
Ugg. You just it and then all of a sudden, you know, you deal with it. You
can't change it. So you get to work. But the thing you tell your people when
you have your morning meeting on Saturday and every dealership does. Don't
let anybody leave without buying a car. Yeah. And that's that's the internal
conversation they have. And I on days like this, even though I was the owner
of the dealership, I would get my stuff done early in the morning on Saturday.
That was the one day a week I went to the sales meeting. I go in, talk to the
troops. Yeah, you know, they always look forward to me coming in, you know,
because it's just once a week. Words of encouragement, directions. Yeah,
exactly. Yeah. You know, I always had some spiff money. Spiffs were what we
handed out cash wise to the people who were there on Saturday and ourselves
people when they sold the car, you know, we had contest fun contest. Okay. Yeah.
Sometimes I'd put 100 envelopes on a board and they all had varying
amounts of money in them. Okay. So if every time you sell a car, you put
your name on envelope. If we fill all the envelopes, then at the end of the
night, we'll hand out, hand them out. Interesting. Okay. So it's not just
one person making a good deal. It's like everybody pitching in making good
deals. It could have been from $10 to $500. Yeah. That's great. So it was it
was a lot of fun. But the bottom line is this, if the weather's not good,
dealers are even more eager to do it. But I would encourage you to start the
deal online. Go through my website, carpro.com. Talk to one of my dealers
online or by phone. All my contacts are there. Be sure you talk to them. Get
it started that way. They'll, if you can get enough done in advance of going
in there, when you go into the dealership, they have the car pulled up in a
drive spot ready for you to drive. It's that simple. Our dealers will do
anything for our listeners here. Let's talk to Steve in Roseville,
California. Hello, Steve. What can I do for you, sir?
Hello, Jerry. Good morning. Been listening. Been listening to you a long
time about a car at Roseville, Toyota. Yeah. First time my wife's ever bought
a car with me and she actually left. She left laughing at having a good time.
Good. She never, she doesn't even go to dealerships with me because she
doesn't want to deal with it. But she happened, we just happened to be in
the area and we stopped and there you go. She had a great time. I appreciate
you. Well, thank you, sir. And the dealership. So my question to you is,
my father-in-law is in the later stages. She got some issues. Oh, sorry. He's
got a, no, no, no, no. He's lived a great life. Colonel in the Air Force,
all that. He's just a great guy and he's on top of it. Now he tells me that
this car he's got in this garage is an LS460L, the deep green Lexus. Oh,
wow. And it's been in its garage just whole life to 2009. And the issue I'm
having is he's told me that it's only worth about 40,000. So he wants to
know if he wants to sell it or if I want the car. I don't want him to get
ripped off. He was told it was only worth $40,000. You get the truth? How many
miles on it? 70,000. Yeah, that's given its age. That's probably the end
of the line for it. If it'll bring 40, I think he's doing good. I think
that's a fair number. Okay. All right. It just didn't, with the mileage on it,
the way he's maintained it and everything else, it's just, it's incredible.
There's nothing wrong with this car. Well, but it has no classic value or
anything like that. No, no. And it won't. They were too plentiful. Yeah. But you
know, that was a vehicle that Lexus didn't change for a very long time. So
an 09 really looks like it could be a 2018, you know? So somebody buying it is
not buying something that's three generations old. So it'll bring that.
Now, I've got a consignment place at my website, carpro.com at the top. Click
sell a car and then you choose get an offer on a car or you can consign a car.
And they do a great job. If he doesn't want to mess with selling it, they'll do
everything for him. Get top dollar for it. Take a little bit off the top. It's
great people. I've known him for a lot of years. So that might be something to
think about, Steve. I appreciate the call and I hope he does well. Your trade could
be worth a lot or not. Find out which by calling Jerry Reynolds, the car pro at

This week's classic car of the week featured on our Facebook page is going
to be crossing the block at Meekam Auctions Glendale in March. Another big
auction that everybody will be looking to. And this is a head turner right here. Oh,
boy. Give you a chance to go and guess the correct year making model of this car,
this classic car. And on Monday, all the correct guesses go into a hat and we pull
out a random winner. You could get your very own auto heat shield, a proud sponsor
of the car pro show. And of course, made in the USA and good for any time of the
year, even if it's cold, if it's hot, always good to have that handy. So
go and check out our Facebook page and make your guess and good luck to you.
Yeah. Every once in a while, we throw a really easy one at you. This is one of those.
Yeah. I think of that. The name of it's on the right hand side. I think I see it right there.
There in the back. I think that's it. It's a classically interesting car too.
That's a good way to put it. Trying to be nice.
All right. Listen, coming up in 15 minutes or so,
I we played my song that I wrote last week about the US hockey team and how proud I was
of the men and women hockey team taking the gold. Then last Saturday, we had the start of the
battle and I ran. Yes. And I had a lot of requests from listeners. Could you write a song on that?
We need a song on that. Okay. The requesting songs from now. They are. I think that's great.
I do too. I enjoy, I enjoy the writing. It's hard and it takes me a long time and I wasn't,
I wasn't sure that I could get it done this week, but I did. And we're going to play that at 35
minutes after the hour. All right. So it's called stand with the brave. It's about our troops.
I wrote it as we were getting word that we had lost four American troops. Yeah.
Now that total is six and they're all coming home today. The president's going to meet them
when their plane gets in to Delver Air Force Base. And so I wanted to play this song in their honor,
stand with the brave. So let's go to the phones. We'll talk to Marty in Deer Park, Texas. Marty,
welcome. What could I do for you? Hey, Jerry, great to talk to you. Thank you. I've been thinking
about buying a new car and you've influenced me to go towards the hybrid, which I've never even
been in. So I'm going to have to do a test drive. So I'm looking at small SUVs. The ones I've kind
of narrowed it down in my head are the Tucson hybrid limited, the Subaru Crosstrek and the
Toyota RAV4. I only have one request. I've been in a 2018 Chevy Equinox and I like the ride and
it's a good ride. And I don't want to be jostled around. I'm too old. Okay. Well, I would tell
you probably to go with the RAV4. I think it's going to have the best ride of the ones that you
mentioned. Okay. I don't think there's any question. It's the longest lasting of all
the SUVs out there. I mean, there's just a good reason Marty that it's the number one
selling the SUV to American has been for 15 straight years. People buy them again and again
because they're so good. Now, with that said, the rest of the car companies,
their hybrid technology is new in comparison to RAV4. So far, they've been great. The Hondas,
the Honda CRV hybrid has been great. The Tucson hybrid has been super. The Sportage from Hyundai
has been great. But they're all so new that I can't tell you with certainty, hey, this thing's
going to go over 200,000 miles without any problems at all. And I'm comfortable telling you that
about the RAV4. So if this is going to be a long term thing, if you're going to keep this thing,
okay, then you'll like everything about the RAV4. You'll like the ride. It'll be comparable to your
Equinox and the fuel economy will be much better than your Equinox. So if I were you, I would go
that direction. I don't think you'd ever regret it. I've helped a gazillion, I've helped a gazillion
people and believe it or not, the new 2026 RAV4 is out now. So it just came out and they made a
lot of nice changes to it. I'd look, I'd look at it. You're going to spend a little bit more than
you would on a 2025. But the changes that they made to it are substantial. And I think over a
period of time, as long as you're going to keep this thing, it'll be worth the extra money. I've
got great Toyota dealers at my website, Marty. Go to carpro.com, click on the green button that
says find a car pro dealer in there. Put your zip code in. And the closest one to you will pull up.
Almost everybody thinks they know about cars, but the car pro Jerry Reynolds actually does know.

And our next stop is Portland, Oregon. Gordon, welcome. Thank you for calling, sir. How can I
help you? Okay, so I have a question. So I'm looking at an electric car. I've got a gas car.
And typically I buy usually used cars that are least returned because most of them have their
upkeep down the car because the dealership has paid for it. Now, I was called electric car, so
because basically you're buying the battery. Does a higher mileage than electric car
mean anything or not? Well, I think it probably does. Here's the problem.
We don't have a lot of history on electric car life because they're so new. And most people
that purchase or lease them don't drive a lot of miles. I've seen some 150,000 mile Teslas
still running on the original battery. And I think one thing that people don't understand
about electric cars is because they're simpler. They there's less things to go wrong. I mean,
they're proven out to be incredibly reliable. So, you know, I look, we know we've got 300,000
electric cars coming off lease this year. I had a story in my newsletter just two weeks ago,
300,000 electric cars coming on to the market. That's going to drive prices down even further
than they already are. And so I think your I think your plan is a smart one. What if I were looking
for electric? The thing that I would pay the most attention to is the history report. I would not
want an electric car that had been in an accident. I don't think we know enough about them yet to
know what long term effects a wreck can have. That battery runs essentially the entire length
of the car. And so if something if you get rear ended, it may not be a high dollar amount of damage,
but you don't know what the damage down the road is going to be to that battery.
And that would be a bigger concern for me than miles. So make sure you get an auto check if
you go this direction and make sure that it hadn't been in a bad wreck. If the last car you bought
made your blood pressure reading higher than your SATs, let's fix that. Call Jerry Reynolds the car

Welcome back to The Car Pro Show with Jerry Reynolds. The car pro and me, Todd Chandler.
Jerry has become a bit of a song smith here lately with all the songs you've written. You've
got three or four that you've done kind of right in a row. And so, you know, you have a new song
about the issue going on the Middle East. Yep. Yep. I do. It was by request.
And I've told you some other requests I have. I did one for the owner of a dealership.
I remember that. Well, that was good. Yeah. Yeah, I remember that.
And I'm getting better at it. You know, obviously I can't sing it and AI makes it really simple
to do. I could never reproduce what they do. You know, I spend hours writing a song and then
put the information, the lyrics in AI, tell them what I'm looking for, the kind of voice I want
and that sort of thing. I did this one a little bit different. And within five minutes, I've got
three versions. It's amazing. And I get to pick one. Yeah.
And I don't like AI. I think there's the chance that it's going to be evil. But
you know what? It's there. What do you do? I can't beat it. You can't.
So we've got six soldiers coming in to the United States today that were killed in Iran.
That was the basis of this song. So I dedicated to Captain Cody Cork, Sergeant First Class
Nicole Amour, Sergeant First Class Noah Tidgins, Sergeant Declan Cody,
Major Jeffrey O'Brien and Chief Warrant Officer Robert Marzan from Sacramento. This is for you.
They stepped up strong. They raised their voice from hometown roads to a battle line.
They swore an oath on a dotted line. They kissed their families, held them tight,
boarded a plane in the dead of night. Carrying freedom wherever they go,
more courage than most will ever know. Stand with the brave, the proud, the strong,
the ones who enter when the call goes wrong. They volunteer for liberty,
for the land of the free and the home of the brave. Put our differences on a shelf
tonight. Lift them up in prayer. Let's stand and unite. They're the finest force the world has
ever seen. Defenders of the red, white and free. Brothers and sisters, shoulder to shoulder.
Hearts made of steel, resolve even bolder. They miss the birthdays, miss the games.
Still we're with pride, our country's name. Stand with the brave, the proud, the strong,
the ones who enter when the call goes wrong. They volunteer for liberty,
for the land of the free and the home of the brave. Put our differences on a shelf tonight.
Lift them up in prayer. Let's stand and unite. They're the finest force the world has ever seen.
Defenders of the red, white and free. Freedom isn't free. We all know the cost. It's written in
the names of the ones we've lost. Folded flags and a bugle's cry. Tears that fall but never ask
why. We won't forget. We won't look away. We honor their sacrifice every day.
Who stands for freedom? We do. Who stands for freedom? We do. Who stands for freedom? USA! USA!
Stand with the brave, the proud, the strong, the ones who keep our freedom standing tall and long.
They volunteer for liberty, for the land of the free and the home of the brave. Put our
differences on a shelf tonight. One nation under God. Let's stand and fight. They're the finest force
the world has ever seen. Long live the red, white and free. Pray for their safe return someday.
Take them for the price they pay and never forget the ones who gave everything for the brave.
So those six coming in today, thank you for your service. We appreciate you. I promise you.
Doesn't matter what you think of the war. We can all come together and agree that the U.S.
Armed Forces are the best in the world. 100%. That's called stand with the brave and the song
will be in next Friday's free weekly newsletter. You can subscribe today and you can get
yesterday's immediately. And if you didn't hear the song I wrote about the Olympic hockey teams
winning the gold last week, that was in yesterday's newsletter. This new song will be in next week's
newsletter. And it's there for you to listen to again, to share, to send it to somebody that you
think might enjoy it. I wrote when I was writing this, I was thinking about, you know, the division
in America. I was thinking about our troops, how they give it all, how they volunteer for this.
And I tried to capture all that in the song. And one thing I haven't gotten down yet on this song
writing thing is time. It's long. I get it. I'll get better at it. But it said everything I wanted
to say. All right. If you want to talk cars, here's the number 800-926-7777 that's 800-926-7777.

How many times have you sat on the air, Jerry? You probably shouldn't sell anything of value on
Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist. Yes, many times. I've written on it too. Yes. And yes,
you have. And well, unfortunately, this particular individual that you recounted a story in the
newsletter in the news section certainly didn't get that advice or heated because he had a nearly
new $93,000 2025 Silverado and he thought it would be a good idea to go onto Facebook and
sell it to the marketplace there. Unfortunately, he got, well, he got a terrible expensive lesson
that you should never do that. The story is in there. I mean, we're talking, he had the guy on
the phone, the private buyer, he had the finance company and they did a reversal thing once he
thought the vehicle was covered as far as the cost of it. And it was a massive, massive blow-up in
his face. He's now having to pay that note on a vehicle he doesn't even own anymore. He's got 70
payments left on a truck you'll never see again. And he signed it over and there's nothing that
can do about it. Nope. Because the vehicle, they can't find it now. It was a Georgia buyer too, I
believe. Yeah. And he, it was an elaborate scam. Yeah, big time. They knew exactly what they were
doing. Yeah. Watch that. Yeah. That's the kind of stuff we give you in the free weekly newsletter.
That was one of the big ones. I wrote an advice column on why your brakes squeal.
Pretty common thing with a lot of people. It certainly is and drives some people crazy.
And there's really nothing you can do about it, especially if you're in a high humidity area.
I just tell people turn your radio on. Listen to the car pro show. There you go. Perfect.
Let's go to Bill and Houston. And Bill, welcome. How can we help you, buddy?
Thank you. And hello, Jerry and Todd. Hello. Good to have you. That was a great song.
Oh, thank you. Thank you for your very informative show. You're very kind, sir. Thank you.
My question is I've had my past two cars have been on the ridgelines. And my first one was 2008.
I got 268,000 miles before I traded it in. And now I have a 2014. I'm on 230,000 with no problems.
Not surprised. And I'm looking at a new one before it does have a problem. And the thing about
them is they have that start, stop feature on them, which I bred online. Nobody likes it.
It's going away this year. And I wanted to get your opinion on that if it was really going away.
We don't know yet, Bill. What the president signed into law was some new fuel economy standards.
And then specifically, you know, to get rid of the start, stop system because everybody hates it,
like you say. I've been I've been railing against it for 15 years here on the air. But
we don't know yet what the manufacturers are going to do that the way it was written,
they don't have to get rid of it. But we think that most car companies will get rid of it. But
here's the problem. They're not none of the car companies right now are going too far off plan
for what they already had going. And the reason is they found out that when the last administration
pushed electric cars so hard, and they spent billions of dollars for that, then a new president
comes in and reverses everything. And they know that could happen again in 2028. So
plus not to mention the fact that they buy parts way in advance. And you're talking about
when you start talking about not including start stop on a car, there's a lot of engineering
that has to be done. And they've got all these parts that they want, they don't want to just
throw away. So they're going to keep building them for a while. They may keep building them
indefinitely. It's not a deal killer. As far as, you know, choosing something else,
you get used to it. And what you get used to is turning it off. I start my car,
I turn off the start stop system, it's in two really quick motions and boom, boom, it's off.
So it's a great choice. Don't let that be a problem.

And it's happy listener time of the car pro show. Your chance to hear some great stories from
people who have taken Jerry's advice, use the way he recommends you buy a new car. Have a great
story to tell where this time referencing Mark who in Houston went to Fred has Toyota world
looking for a 2026 Highlander hybrid. He was doing this. He had a 2021 Highlander,
but he wanted to go and look at the Highlander for next year is going to be going all electric,
he said of course. So he was trying to decide between that and the Palisade, the 2026 Palisade
hybrid. So he went to two of your dealerships there and of course he ended up with the Highlander
hybrid and Fred has Toyota world. He said basically both dealers treated him well,
low pressure, no stress, but he had two great options. He ended up going with the Highlander
because he was happy with the hybrid system. He knew it better. He was more comfortable with it
than the Palisades and he says very happy with the deal and the process and he will recommend
your process, your way of doing things to his family and friends. Oh, that's great. I love it.
And it works. It works every day of the week and it works for the people who follow the process
because it is a process. I own car dealerships for a lot of years. I figured out the shortcuts
and I share that with you and look, it's always about people. Every car lot, every car dealership
in your town has got the exact same cars. They've all got the same incentives. They all pay the
same to the factory for those cars. So what's the difference? The difference is people.
That simple. And I send you to the best people in the industry and they can't fool me. It's
happened a few times, but by and large, I know the good ones from the bad ones and I know them
quickly. So use the website, carpro.com. Find the dealer nearest you and contact them. We got two
hours to go, so don't go anywhere. If you're on hold, stay there. We'll be back for another hour
of The Car Pro Show. Knowing the right time to trade is a huge thing right now. As The Car Pro,

State Farm is there too, helping you choose the coverage you need. With a State Farm agent,
you know someone is there to help you along the way. And with so many coverage options,
it's nice knowing you have help choosing a plan that fits your needs. So you can
continue celebrating all of life's milestones. Like a good neighbor, State Farm is there.
Quick, choose a meal deal with McValue, the $5 Mexican meal deal, the $5 McDouble meal deal,
or the new $6 Daily Double Meal deal. Each with its own small fries, drink,
and four-piece McNuggets. There's actually no rush. I'm just excited for McDonald's.
For a limited time, only prices of participation may vary, not Valver McDelivery.
