and as always we're coming to you from the RetailMyRide.com studios in downtown Dallas,
Texas where it is really rainy and stormy today.
So that's always a lot of fun.
So we'll go to the phones here in just a second.
My co-host Todd Chambliss we call him the Roadmaster.
Sure why not.
How you doing pal?
Doing good.
Just excited about the fact that here it is March we're a little weekend now and you've
got all kinds of incentives and the trade values are all high.
It's an uncharacteristic year.
Can you compare it to any year at all even like the COVID pre-ear post or anything like
that?
Yeah we're seeing some especially on 2025's that are left and that used to be the kiss
of death with the car you know this laid into the next model year.
There's 27's on the market now but a lot of the automakers built 2025's deep into last
year.
They were still built in 2025's in December of 2025.
So those that are out there big incentives I mean I'm seeing some of the trucks during
Ford truck month with $7,000 in rebates.
It's crazy.
We haven't seen that since before COVID and a lot of 0% out there as interest rates as
the prime rate comes down it cost the manufacturers like Alley Finance, Toyota Financial, Ford
Credit it cost them less money to buy that rate down to 0 than when the prime rate is
higher than it is right now.
So it gets more plentiful.
There's more opportunities for 0%.
I don't like long-term financing I wish everybody would stick to 60 months but if you need to
go 72 at 0% at no interest I don't care how long you finance anything whether it's a house
or a car or anything else get all that zero that you can get but then take your money
and use it wisely to let it earn you money.
So not only are you not paying interest on a vehicle you're getting interest on your
investment and so that's always my advice.
If you got to go 72 at 0 I'm fine with that but if you're going to go 72 at 5%, 6%, 7%
try to go 60 and put a little more money down if you can.
Alright that's the kind of things we talk about.
I did not get to talk in the first hour about my review vehicle this week which is something
I have really been looking forward to.
And what's that?
The 2026 Jeep Cherokee.
Cherokee has been gone for the last two years they just brought it out again it's all new
it's bumper to bumper roof to road brand new vehicle with a hybrid.
It's a roomy more roomy than normal five passenger SUV with a lot of cargo area in the back
and I'm getting right at 40 miles to the gala with this thing in town in town and boy is it
a joy to drive it has got plenty of power the gas mileage unbelievable this one is
completely loaded panoramic moon roof navigation system a lot of really nice features coming in
at 45 grand on the witness sticker crazy they are not going to be able to keep these in stock
I started my review and I've not finished it yet it'll be a next week's newsletter
but I started it by saying sometimes when you've done this for a long time you know
when a vehicle is going to be a game changer for a car company this is a game changer for
Jeep and frankly they needed it and I'm proud that they got it good let's go to Montgomery
Texas and talk to Cindy Cindy you're up next on the car pro show what can I do for you crank it
hi hi hey how are you I'm sorry we're looking at buying a Lexus GX 550 and I've been looking online
trying to research a little bit and I'm seeing that there's some issues with the transmission
so I didn't know if that was internet garbage or if it was real you you're trying to trick me you're
not Cindy she was out the vehicle for a minute and so anyhow she's back all right here all right is
it okay if I is it all right if I talk to him I think it's better if you do to be honest well
okay then all right all right there's your endorsement hey look there there may be a few
issues right off the bat that's typical of any vehicle that goes through a drastic change like
that one did I've reviewed it I I mean obviously I didn't have any problem but let me tell you this
Lexus if they have a problem are going to jump on it and get it solved and they're going to get
it solved quickly and they did if there was in fact a widespread there wasn't ever enough of
an issue for a recall I can tell you that so if they did have a snafu or something they needed
to make an adjustment to it's already been done and if you get one of these you're not going to
have any issues so I the vehicle guys is exceptional it's it's fantastic I I can't recommend it enough
and I was so happy to see it change in such a major way because it had been the same for so
long and that's typical that's typical of Toyota and Lexus both they they've got a vehicle that
is perfectly a selling point yeah it is for me because the longer a vehicle stays the same
the better chance you got of it being a great one and you see that with Toyotas with forerunner
with rx on the Lexus side you see that with them all along and people buy them again and again
I've got a great Lexus dealer there in the Houston area at my website carpro.com
go talk to them and you may have to wait a little while to get one but it will be worth the wait

welcome back to the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds the car pro and the Todd
Chandler's one of the most clicked items in the newsletter this week has to do with a spare tire
the the missing spare tire in lots of new vehicles these days is becoming a thing where you have to
kind of look because you can't really depend on that being there even the the donut being there
just no the temporary tire they and guess what what they don't tell you on the winter sticker
they don't no well that's kind of that's not a misleading but that's that would be nice to know
that unfortunately people find out when they need their spare they're on the side of the road
it's funny because that growing up that was like instilled in me it's like check on your spare make
sure that you don't leave it there too long and you know the air pressure is okay because I mean
when you need it it's it's kind of it's got to be properly inflated and all that kind of thing
yeah luckily today with a lot of the luxury cars in particular if it does have a spare
it's got a tire pressure monitor gauge on it it's great yeah it gets low it'll show you
your spare is low on the screen and on your computer system yeah so and I guess it's probably
caused obviously the EPA had something to do with it and all that and the rules and California
probably had a hand and they're strict regulations too I would imagine I would imagine probably so
so I wrote about that and I also wrote about understanding dealer advertising laws and
and that yeah I probably should have titled that some other way because it might look like it was
boring or a insider kind of news story but my point was I give Texas and Oklahoma I'm sorry Texas
and California you know our two biggest listening audiences I gave you the laws what they say the
statutes and who to complain to I'm on a tear with bad dealers I started this show to put them
out of business and you know I think the new scam that's bugging me the most is they do add-ons
but when the car gets there they they throw another extra thousand dollars worth of stuff
for $2,000 worth of stuff that's worth a third of that and they don't tell you about that when
they price the car online so you go in thinking you're gonna buy a RAV4 for $38,000 and when you
get there it's $41,000 because the add-ons that they didn't tell you about online and you're too
deep into the whole situation to even fight them sometimes sometimes yeah let's go to Greenville
Texas John's next on The Car Pro Show hello John
Jerry yes sir hey need some help again uh no problem what are you thinking about
I've got a 19 Tahoe premiere I bought from one of your friends I'm looking to trade it in
I don't want to know their Chevrolet what should I look at it will be appropriate in that class
in about the same size yes sir okay if you don't I was gonna say well I'm 642 40 and want something
built on a larger frame yeah I got some room I would tell you to look at the new Lexus GX
it's wonderful I love it I just had recently the Infinity Qx80 and it was fantastic oh my goodness
what a nice nice vehicle great ride Mercedes doesn't really have anything as big as your Tahoe
you could go with the GLS it's smaller I don't think it rides as well as the Tahoe well it's
sportier and you're going to get the same thing with the BMW X7
I would certainly tell you to look at the Lincoln Aviator it's got the most comfortable seats I've
ever sat in and I love it and it it's it's a it's been a great one the new Ford Expedition
in the upper line trims John is really nice they made some great changes in it for 2025
so there's other things out there besides General Motors that you can you can you can
switch to I just think you're going to need to come into Dallas and visit some of my dealers
and drive some of these and see what you think what's been your problem with the Tahoe
I'm just tired of it okay that's good no problem I mean it's it's a premiere it's
fully loaded it's wonderful I love that 5.3 yep it's a good one it's a good one
John we're gonna we're gonna run out of we're gonna run out of time here I'm
apologize for that we got a little bit of a late start but take take a look at those
locally and if you need a deal on one again come into Dallas I'll help you if you bought a car
you thought you'd love but now you want to push it off a cliff get some advice from the car pro

John in Houston John what's going on sir what can I do for you how you doing I've got a
2018 Ford F-150 STX just your basic model with about 60,000 miles yeah and it's going to trade
in for for a new F-150 but I was thinking about scaling down to either the maverick or the ranger
and what did you think of those which is bigger oh the ranger is bigger what what do you use your
truck for John uh hauling furniture occasionally not much you know I'm starting to travel now
since I retired it's nice putting all the luggage in the backseat with it filled up with so much room
but it's just harder to parking the 150 yeah but I didn't know how much smaller the ranger was compared
to 150 you know it's not that much smaller that's the funny thing these mid-sized trucks keep getting
bigger and bigger and I would tell you and I reviewed the 2025 ranger it's at my website
carpro.com the search box at the top put in ranger it'll pull up it's about the size of a half ton
truck 15 years ago because the the half ton trucks have gotten so big and they've they've gotten the
mid-sized trucks have gotten bigger but if fuel economy is important to you then I would go okay
I go with the ranger I love the maverick and for the first time since it's been out which is five
years now there's some good incentives on the maverick for the first time I mean there's like
$2,500 rebate in Texas we've seen anything like that I think it's around $3,000 on the ranger
but the ranger is more of a real truck than the maverick is it's a nice step down the maverick's
probably going to be too small coming out of an f-150 but the ranger kind of fits right in the
middle and I think it would be a good choice I think it'd be the best choice for you still gets
good mileage it's got good power read my review you'll see what I'm talking about nice truck
I've got four really great four dealers in Houston at my website click on find a carpro certified
dealer near you put in your zip code the closest one will pull up talk to my contact
it's truck month that's a big deal that's not just an advertising thing they really have the best
deals of the year on trucks so do it in March you can't get good advice from someone who

is the car pro and i'm ty chambliss in the newsletter this week another great article
about how used EVs are becoming the new value play is what the actual headline says talking
about how the prices of these used cars are i guess it's gaining traction because folks are
finding some value there and as you said earlier you said that uh you know some of the used EVs
out there are keeping value better than you probably thought they were going to at this point
Tesla's are holding their value like crazy yeah i've been a real surprise because they're the only
one all the other EVs are down and as these 300 000 EVs coming off lease hit the market this year
all going to be sold at auction that's going to drive prices down even more that's true and so
if you've thought about if you've thought about an EV and it's you know when we see gas spikes like
we've seen in the past week when it rises that quick it boy it really makes you think it does
but i encourage people don't panic you're gonna spend a little more right now but in this particular
case this is temporary and i think they'll go i think prices will go right back down really fast
it just takes the whole thing ending and a little bit of time for the dust to settle
before prices will be back to where they were basically or close to it yeah exactly right
all right i take calls in the order that i get them so next up is Carl in Tyler Texas
and that's east of Dallas Fort Worth Carl welcome hey good afternoon how are y'all
hey doing good pal we're gonna help you with
hey uh i'm trying to trying to purchase a vehicle for one of my employees and uh
i need something reliable so i was thinking probably a Toyota or a Honda but they're pretty
pricey i mean to find something you know and this gentleman you know he's in his 50s he he just needs
something to get from his apartment to work basically he's been riding a bicycle and walking
and yeah and he just needs something to be able to you know get around go to the grocery store
get to and from work and uh just basic needs not like he's going to be running all over the
place so something high mileage is probably okay yeah yeah and he he'd be okay with a car right a sedan
yes okay yeah it can be just a little four door sedan it doesn't have to be a big
doesn't need to be a truck or an SUV or anything like that that makes the world of difference
cars just don't hold the value like they used to trucks and SUVs that's what everybody wants
so what kind of money are we trying to spend on this thing
no man i'm trying to do something for around 10 000 which is i don't know if that's realistic
or not yeah it is it isn't a car it's not in a truck or an SUV so you know you mentioned Toyota
and Honda unfortunately that's what everybody wants and that's that drives prices up so i look for
off i look for off market cars is what i call them cars that have a good history
but they don't hold the value like a Toyota or Honda but they're they're still good cars and
they got a lot of life left in them um anything anything that's two door
you'd be surprised what you can buy a six-elder Mustang for with 50 60 000 miles i would look
at a Nissan Sentra those cars have had a good history they have bad resale and that's exactly
what you want in a case like this um you know just looking around out there in some of the cars that
you know one other car that somebody's maintained real well which you can find that out with a history
report i use auto check it'll tell you how how well it's been maintained and that's really what
you're looking for and in 100 000 miles doesn't scare me anymore it used to it would scare me
with certain cars but mainstream cars four-door car Ford Fusion one of the best cars ever built
Ford was stupid for discontinuing that car a Ford Taurus also the same way a Chevy Malibu
one of the best damn cars ever ever built and they're dirt cheap those are the kind of cars
you need a Dodge Charger i could go on and on and on that's what you're looking for though if you
can find one of those and you may have to come into Dallas to be able to do that Carl and if so
you can search you can search at my website i've got a um button at the top it says buy a car
it'll let you isolate a price range and show you everything in that price range and anything you
find there is going to be one of my dealers and my dealers i know will will have checked out the car
closely and they won't sell it okay look anything can happen with a 10 or 12 000 car
but you have your best chance buying one from one of those guys because they're careful what they
sell at least to the to the to the best of their ability i'll put it that way so it can be done
it just takes a little work okay well that's good information man i really appreciate it and
i'm familiar with the Ford Fusions and Taurus uh i've worked for a large national company for
many years and uh those were company vehicles for us yes and so was the Malibu and that you
got to figure if if if companies bought those cars and rental companies bought those cars it was
because of their longevity and the way that they stand up to you know probably a tougher life than
most individuals put a car through so that's that's great choices one yeah one quick question
and i'll let you go um so does it make any sense to try and or well i probably wouldn't be able to
find one cheap enough looking at a rental company or anything so yeah i'd rather i would rather see
you buy from either a private seller or you can ask questions or a reputable dealer not a used car
dealer and nothing wrong with used car dealers there's some good ones out there but a lot of them are
not and a reputable new car dealer or a private seller would be my choice and let me let me tell
another one out there that just hit me Toyota Prius Toyota Prius because gas prices have been low
their their resale value has been horrible of late and that's a 250,000 mile car all day long
and it and it 40 miles to the gallon so put that on the list and you'll you'll be able to find
some and let me tell you something that is a very very nice thing you're doing there
i he must be a great employee yes sir yeah and uh you're like me always i always took care of my
people no matter what you know that's that's all we got if you own a business your people all you
got and this guy he he's you're lucky to have him but i'm gonna tell you this he's lucky to have you

every single week there's some great stories in the newsletter that gerry puts together and his staff
every single week that involved the automotive industry it's called quick shifts there are
some great stories this week and i gotta tell you my favorite though has to be the one in
ontario canada woman's at a red light and she looks up sees a cop drone or drone cop or however
you term that and like all of us like that's kind of a curious thing so i'm gonna take a picture of
it so she does of course the drone records that she's on a camera in her car or taking a picture
with her phone send her a ticket for six hundred and fifteen dollars why distracted driving and it
sounded like the drone was right in her face right it was right yeah looking right at her in the wind
shield i take a picture of it too well sure you would because that's a that's a weird thing
it's kind of a trap in a way though it is that's not that's not fair and every everybody would
respond that way i would think yeah i would too uh next friday in the newsletter i've got pricing
on the new 2027 key to tell you right hybrid oh please don't tell me that yeah come on first time
we've had that that's kind of fine man okay and uh let's see what else do i have uh the women's
worldwide car of the year winners hmm a little bit of some surprises there all right you can now
get a lego model t while they last okay if you want that what some people do probably and guess
what what the pope got a new vehicle new pope mobile yep there a big bubble on it nope oh okay
see styling with a sports car now what's going on you won't tell me until next week no i'll tell
you okay he got for free a new forward explorer i would never have picked that in a hundred years
for the pope a forward explorer really nothing wrong with the car i owned one for a number of
years it's great car it is but the pope is from chicago that's right okay there that makes sense
the explorer is made in chicago and that's even better and it's a sensible vehicle it's not something
outlandish it does what he needs it to do he's a chicago guy so it all makes sense yeah see i like
it all right then i ruined it for you he kind of did actually i'm not gonna ask how your video did
this week you probably shouldn't no now should i bring up your video it's better than mine i mean
let's be honest but oh yeah there was a lot of good content that kind of pushed us out of the top
five of course i'm always out of the top five typically you're almost out of the top ten
tony kingwood texas houston area tony what's going on good afternoon guys hey bud i'm in the uh
the market for another pickup and i'm looking at a platinum edition toro to tundra or the
platinum edition f-150 forward yeah there there are just so many options on ancient size and
whether it's two or four-wheel drive or hybrid yep i'm just at a loss well let me tell you what i'd buy
in either one of those trucks okay i would get the hybrid in both those trucks the power boost
that ford's doing is just exceptional the tundra i-force max 3.5 both of them are going to be 3.5
liter twin turbo engines both of them with a hybrid system if you got a really heavy foot the tundra
with the hybrids putting out over 440 horses but it's a big truck it needs every one of those
so i would i would certainly get the hybrid in both of those trucks be sure you get four-wheel
drive that's a that's a resell killer if you don't and if you're price conscious at all right now
because the truck month the ford is going to be substantially cheaper because of rebates
so you can't go wrong with either truck but get the hybrid get the four-wheel drive
and get everything that you want and and if you're looking at price the ford's the better way to go
buying a new vehicle can either be like christmas or like performing a route

fort in carolton texas they beat the deal i had oh yeah they almost always almost always do i walked
in armed with it and now i don't even bother because you know if you've got a dealership a go to
that you you know you trust that they're going to go in probably better the deal and give you
more incentives with their connections anyway well i it i always think it's a good idea to find out
what you can get on your own yeah and then give that information to the dealer and say
if you can beat this i'll give you the financing because they make a couple hundred bucks doing
that okay so that's good that's good real fun they'll get on the phone call their their lender and
say hey tides got a you know 3.8% loan is credit union but you guys want his business those they
look at your credit file they say you're a repeat customer and they go yeah give him give him 3%
yeah that's no way to do it actually it's a great way to do it i've got an article on my FAQ page
that addresses that exact subject give the dealer a chance at your business i like that and it's nice
