Welcome to The CarPro Show. Jerry Reynolds The CarPro was in the auto industry for over 35 years
and in addition to getting his sixth win from the Texas Auto Riders Association for Best Radio
Show in Texas, he's a member of the Texas Radio Hall of Fame along with fellow members
Dan Rather and George Carlin. His co-host Todd Chambliss just became a member of Applebee's
Hall of Fame for finishing off 84 check-in nuggets without using a dipping sauce.
Now let's get to straight talk and honest answers about everything automotive on The CarPro Show.
Thank you so much for joining us on The CarPro Show. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones.
We appreciate you joining us today. We've got two hours to go and we're going to be talking
about cars, helping people make a car buying decision that makes sense for you and mainly
one that you will not regret. And that is a that's something I see literally almost every day.
Somebody that bought the car and you know it hasn't been a week, sometimes it's a month.
Talk to somebody yesterday, six months. They they and I give them credit. They tried to like the car.
They gave it every opportunity. It just wasn't right for them. If you're thinking about a
particular brand of car, a model, you're not a hundred percent sure about it. Let's talk,
run it by me. I'll tell you what I think about it. I might give you an alternative to look at
to look at. And I hate to see people get locked in on one particular vehicle, especially if it's
only because you just saw one going down the road or you saw a TV commercial or you saw one in a movie
or you've got a friend or relative that's got that car and they love it. That doesn't
necessarily mean you're going to love it. So I like to I like to help people get down to
cars. And then you choose the one that you love the most. So tell me what you're thinking.
I'll tell you what I think. And then you can make a good decision from there.
Thechays.com car pro hotline is 800-926-7777-800-926-7777. Typically we have no open lines for all three
hours on holiday weekends. People are traveling. It's a little easier to get through and I do
have one open right now. If you want to grab it 800-926-7777. How many chicken nuggets did you eat?
Without sauce. I think they're 84 I believe. Oh wow. That probably caused some I'm pretty
sure some some distress later on after having that much going on. I think you were full.
Definitely full for a while. That's Todd Chambliss. I'll tell you what. Yeah. The thing I guess I was
talking to someone this week saying yeah you know you guys are doing a live show this week. Of course
it's a it's a big weekend. They said well like Friday shopping people are out and don't you think
folks are going to be a little concerned about the crowds and everything at these dealerships.
And I said well it's likely to be crowded but we cut through all that the way that you set
this thing up. You don't have to go and like deal with getting there and trying to find someone you
already have a person that you know to contact and they know to give you the best deal. You don't
have to go and deal with being there all day long. They get the deal done in a really reasonable
amount of time you could be on the road with your brand new vehicle. Well I hear from listeners
that followed my process and that all starts at carpro.com. They went to
they emailed my dealer first and you got to remember there's there's one contact person
in each dealership. So email them and tell them when you're coming in so they can be ready for
you. And if you do that you're going to get a VIP certificate immediately in your inbox
and you can print that out and carry it with you. And that is really a smart thing to do.
The system works like a charm. It's been working now. We're in our 25th broadcast year
helping people buy cars. I don't get a penny if you buy from one of the people that are at
carpro.com. I do not get a penny. I will never recommend a dealer or a car because I'm getting
paid. I don't work that way and I don't need the money. Let's be honest. So trust me. I can help you
make that good decision. And the next person we're going to help is Nick. And Nick is in
Sugarland, Texas. Nick welcome and Merry Christmas pal. What's going on? Merry Christmas to you.
Thank you. Mr. Jerry, I've got a problem with the air conditioning system of the car.
What do you got? What kind of car you got? I bought a Chevy Quinox, a new one. It's in 2014. Okay.
I've got 63,000 miles on it. Oh wow. That's low for a 12-year-old car.
Yeah, I don't drive too much. But I did all my main maintenance with the dealership
except for oil change. Yeah. Okay, now then I'm started having problems with AC. It wasn't cooling.
So I took the dealership and dealership didn't resolve the problem. I took three times to
the dealership. Look, I spent $6,000, gave to the dealership to fix the problem. Six? You've spent
6,000? Okay. Yeah. And then I've talked with the service manager. The service manager passed the
ball to the service advisor. Yeah. Okay. So I left the car with the advisor. Then the service
advisor called me next day that they'll charge me another $1,200 to fix the car. Then I said,
listen, I don't want to do the work with you. I don't trust you guys. I took my car away.
And now I'm looking for to change, get another model Toyota or Lexus, and forget about this
dealership. Well, hang on before you do that. I mean, if you want to trade cars, then fine.
But I think I'd like to see you get some satisfaction on the $6,000 that you've
spent. I'm going to ask you. I took the car three times to them. Okay. Is it three times?
Is it the dealership, the Chevy dealership in Sugarland? Yes. Then we need to get that fixed.
And I will do that. So I want you to talk to the general manager there. I'm going to put you
back on hold. We're going to come back to you and tell you who to talk to. So hang on.
The general manager of that dealership, who is a great guy. He's been a friend of mine for over
30 years. He will not put up with that. And I'm going to get him involved in this. So we're
going to put you on hold, Nick. And then I'm going to tell you here in just a second who
to talk to. In sports, when you hear, we wanted to throw more curve balls. That means this basketball
floats up there like a watermelon. But when you hear straight talk, honest answers about everything
automotive, that means Jerry Reynolds, the car pro will help you know curve balls. Call now 1-800-926-7777.
One of the most clicked items this week's newsletter would happen to be the new car
incentives and rebates. It's always a pretty popular read, but especially this weekend being
end of the month. And here we are with a Black Friday slash Thanksgiving slash Christmas,
whatever you want to call it weekend, folks are motivated and ready to sell.
And there are a lot of folks out there knowing that end of the year is the best time to buy.
So if you go to carpro.com and you find the newsletter either through the radio show link
where all the newsletter archives are located or just from the newsletter that arrived in your
inbox a few days ago, you can go find the incentives and rebates guide. You've got everything
by manufacturer. And as Jerry mentioned earlier, need to make sure that you enter your zip
code to make sure that you get the accurate incentives and rebates in your area.
Yeah, because sometimes when you go to an incentive page for a certain manufacturer,
there's already a zip code in there for some reason. I don't know how that works,
whether it's the last person that went there or whatever. But if it's not your zip code,
you're not getting the accurate information. Absolutely right.
Because incentives vary all across the country. Let's talk to Jason in Santa
My wife is currently, my wife is driving a 2014 Jeep Wrangler.
And we're looking to get a plug-in hybrid. And I know you talked about the RAV4 plug-in
was an excellent car. But what about the Kia Nero?
Yeah, I love the Kia Nero. And the reason it doesn't come up when somebody asks me about a plug-in
is because we don't have the history on the Nero that we do on the Toyota system.
But I wouldn't be worried about anything that Kia or Hyundai makes, especially in a hybrid.
I had, I reviewed in August the hybrid, the non-plug-in hybrid version, okay?
So it was hybrid, got 53 miles to the gallon. So my question to you is, what's her,
what's, how many miles a year does she drive and where is most of her driving?
I mean, she, she basically drives from home and to work which is school, which is probably
15 miles each way. So I'm not worried about her using any gas because she would cover the
electric range on that.
Yeah, it would. My only question is justifying the difference in the cost upfront of the
regular hybrid at 53 miles to the gallon versus a plug-in hybrid and getting a home charger.
Because that's going to cost you.
I already, I have an electric car, so we already have a home charger.
Oh hell, don't listen to me.
No, you're doing the right stuff. I, you know, I haven't reviewed the plug-in
but I have reviewed the hybrid and I thought for the money it was just an exceptional vehicle,
comes with a great warranty. It's good looking. It's a nice size.
That's going to be quite a culture shock for her coming from a Jeep.
But if she likes it, I, hey, I'm all for it. And I got a, I've got a great key of dealer
in Tustin. If you want to talk to my friends there at Tustin Kia, they just opened up.
He's probably been open 10 days now but the owner there is a dear, dear friend of mine
and he is fantastic. I'm tickled to death that he's got a Kia dealership now.
So if you want to talk to them, they're at my website, carpro.com.
I got nothing but good to say. I wish I had reviewed the plug-in but I wouldn't
worry about it. I think you'll be fine. Yeah, I was looking at the website to see
if you actually did and you didn't have one. So that's what I thought. I'd call you and see what
you thought about it. Yeah, I've not heard a thing bad about it and that's a good sign.
All right, great. Thanks for the information. Hey, Merry Christmas to you guys. I hope
everything works out well. You're doing this at a very good time right here at the
end of the year. That's when the incentives are the best and Kia keeps their incentives
really up to speed. I'm always shocked that when I look at a Hyundai and a Kia and I look at its
competition, I'm always surprised at how much under-priced they are versus so many other ones
out there and the narrow certainly falls into that category. The one that I reviewed
was loaded coming in at 37 grand but the base price on it was 23.
That's so cheap for today's world, especially in an SUV. I appreciate the call.
800-926-7777. If you didn't see our holiday gift guide, oh my goodness, look at your newsletter
from yesterday or subscribe right now and you'll get yesterday's and I promise you it's got some great
stuff. Even if you don't know a crossover from a cross-stitch, Jerry Reynolds can help you.
Call the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
And we've got a love of Texas on KFYO. Mark, welcome. How could I help you, sir?
Hey, what's going on? Merry Christmas. Hey, Merry Christmas to you and Todd. I am a first-time
college long-time listener. I've appreciated your advice for years. Oh, good having you.
I'm looking at adding a third vehicle to our family and specifically a Jeep Wrangler or maybe an Audi Q5
and there's some great deals right now. I found 12 to $13,000 off on Jeep Wranglers and $8,000 off
of Audi Q5s and my wife wants to wait until April or May and I'm wondering are these deals still
going to be around from April or May? They're not going to be that good. I'm going to tell
you right now. You're not going to beat the incentives and the overall deals
in at the end of November and anytime in December. The manufacturers
hoard their money throughout the year and they bring it all out at the end of the year.
That money has to be spent before December 31st and that's the way it works. Plus,
you've got a whole bunch of executives at these car companies. They've got bonuses riding on
how many cars are sold this year. So they are kind of selfish in the fact that
they're self-serving and they throw all the money out there at the end of the year.
That's where you are. Will the deals still be good in March or April? Yeah, absolutely.
But will they be as good as they are today? No. I can tell you that with 99% certainty.
Well, thank you so much. I appreciate that information.
You are more than welcome and look, if you don't find a deal there in Lubbock,
a lot of my Lubbock listeners come to DFW to get cars. A lot. I mean, an amazing amount.
And so I got good dealers for both those here in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. If you can't find
the deal there in Lubbock. Because sometimes what makes pricing good is when you get into
big competitive markets in Dallas-Fort Worth is one of the most competitive anywhere in the country.
They'll sell a car cheaper. That's the fact. I appreciate the call.
The next time international talk like a pirate day rolls around,
tell your friends you got advice from the CarProbe. Call 1-800-926-7777.
When I was first diagnosed with wet AMD, my world felt smaller.
I worried that losing my vision would mean losing sight of the little things,
reading to my granddaughter, watching sunsets, seeing the faces I love.
My retina specialist recommended Vobizmo. He said it's different.
It's the only treatment thought to block two causes of wet AMD
and deliver a chance for up to four months between treatments.
Thanks to my improved vision, I'm holding on to the moments that mean the most.
Vobizmo is an eye injection. Don't take it if you have an infection,
active eye swelling or are allergic to it. Vobizmo could cause eye infection, retinal

or severe swelling of blood vessels in the eye. Report changes to vision or eye pain to your
retina specialist right away. Ask your doctor about Vobizmo as soon as you notice any

Welcome back to The Car Pro Show with Jerry Reynolds, The Car Pro, and me, Todd Chambliss.
If you saw the newsletter and you've been listening to the show really for the past
couple of weeks, you might have heard and maybe seen notice of something called
the 12 Days of Car Pro Christmas, which has an interesting beginning. We talked about
this and briefly, Jerry had written really a poem talking about all the different slogans
that the car manufacturers use, and I just happen to say, hey, why don't you make a song
out of that? Wouldn't that be cool? Well, that's what we did. The song was actually premiered,
was it last week we premiered it? Last week. Last week we premiered it. Of course,
the whole song, the link to it available in the latest newsletter. If you want to go and
link somebody to that, they might enjoy that. If they're into cars, it's a really
fun little thing to do. I had people tell me they cried. They cried? Yeah. Was it emotional
or did they cry because they didn't enjoy it? No, it was complimentary. Oh, okay. I didn't know,
because, you know, that on the surface, you could make take that either way.
I mean, the music was beautiful. Well, the one I did, which you didn't really care for,
you called it a he-ha-ho-down or something like that. It wasn't what I had in mind.
Well, obviously yours was correct because if it made people cry, it was emotional.
It was really beautiful. It was a nice ballad. The music was wonderful.
Like a Karen Carpenter kind of a thing there. So yeah, it's a lot of fun and it doesn't
take that long. It's a few minutes and I would say go and check that out and
maybe share that with somebody who maybe is looking for a new car that might be fun
to listen to. There you go. I think that's a really good idea.
Let's talk to Bill in Yorba Linda, California. No, no, Bill, welcome to the Carpro Show.
Hi. Thanks for taking my call. You bet, buddy. Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas to you too. What can I do for you?
Well, I have two questions. I guess the immediate one is I have an F-150 truck
that has about 60,000 miles on it and I don't really use it at all. It's in excellent condition
and I'm thinking should I go ahead and get rid of it right now just because I could probably
get the most money out of it or whatever and then get something. It is nice to have a truck
every once in a while. My other car is a Prius Prime. He can't really put much in there or whatever
if you're going to show anything or anything like that. You got F-150 with 60,000 miles,
any particular year model? 2018. That helps. That's low mileage for 2018 and the truck
market is at a peak right now. If you're going to sell it, yes, do it now. Are you thinking about
selling it yourself or are you thinking about trying to sell it to a dealer?
Well, I was thinking about something like Carmex. They seem pretty honest and pretty,
just go there and boom. Let me tell you about Carmex. At times they are very good buyers.
It's never a place I recommend to purchase a car, but if you're selling one and they need
inventory, they're really good buyers. If they've got plenty of inventory,
they're not. There's really no way to know that. The smart thing to do is get two opinions on it
and see which place will pay you the most. That's a good way to do it. I can give you one way to
do it. Other than Carmex, what's the one that would, because I know that I've just taken
a friend's car over there. That day they gave us an amount that was, and they said it was
good for seven days and if we wanted to just buy the car. Yeah, that's right. Is there another group
that does the same thing? There is, and they're at my website, carpro.com, at the top of the page,
click sell a car and put the information in there. They'll make a solid offer by computer,
upload some pictures for them from your phone, simple to do, give them the VIN number,
give them the exact miles. They'll tell you how much they're willing to write a check for.
And if you want to shop that against Carmex, that's great. No problem. I want you to get
the most money that you can. But I can supply you with one opinion and, believe me, when it comes
to selling a car to a dealer, you're dealing with a person's opinion.
Now, most of them use the same information. Most of them use the Mannheim market report,
which is an auction report. And so they should be pretty close together. But you've got,
you've got a very valuable piece of merchandise there. A 2018 truck with 60,000 miles is pretty
rare these days. And it's in the excellent because I hardly ever use it. Yeah, just in the driveway.
There you go. I think that's the thing to do. And you said you had two questions.
Yeah, well, the second question is my dream car would really be, you know, it looks like a
classic car on the outside. But on the inside, it's got all the bells and whistles that
we have now. So if any parts go wrong, I don't have to like worry about, you know, looking for parts
all over the place. Sure. But I don't, I'm not a millionaire. So is that part, is that realistic
for just to, you know, somebody to get something like that? Or are there places to do that? Or?
No, not. Yeah, actually, yeah, there is. There are places who will take a chassis
in all the drivetrain components and then put a, you know, a retro type body on there. But
you're in, you're in deep six figures there. You're well over 100 grand. So
yeah, that's not my preference. Yeah. So it, I like the way you're thinking,
but you're going to have to spend some money to do that. There are, you know,
I still find some of the Dodge Chrysler products to be kind of retro on the outside,
especially the charger, the Challenger. And those are really good driving cars. The Ford Mustang
is a great car. And it's got a retro look to it. And they're supposedly
is a Camaro coming back that's going to be kind of like what you're looking. But,
you know, these cars are not practical daily drivers either. So if that's what you're looking for,
something that you can drive every single day. But buddy, I don't know of anything out there to
tell you what to get. I really don't. I wish I wish there were a magic answer. And if there were,
I'd probably get one myself because you and I think a lot alike. I hope you're in the family.
Hope you and the family have a great Christmas and I do appreciate the phone call very, very much.
And yeah, thank you very much. I appreciate it very much. The newsletter that came out last
Monday had a lot of, Todd's already told you about the Christmas song, but you can find out
how to be careful parking at the mall. You can find out how to safely transport your holiday food.
You can look at our 2025 holiday gift guide, which I'm doing right now. Yes, there you go.
And if you get a chance, I had our Thanksgiving prayers for our military and our first responders.
With what happened in Washington, take a look at those.
Take the guesswork out of your next car lease or purchase. Call the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
It's the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro and me, Todd Shambles. I have a
Kia Telluride. I've had it for a couple of years, really enjoy it, but one of the problems I have
just generally is that the new shiny toys and all the new stuff on new cars always sort of get
that fear of missing out the FOMO as they call it. And I've always been interested to see when
Kia would come out with a Telluride, the car I drive with a hybrid. Well, that was answered
in the last week or so with the Kia Telluride for 2027. Coming out in January. It will be in
January, right. Which of course, you've got featured in your new section of the newsletter this past
Monday that was sent out. And one of the interesting things about that, the very front
of it, the headlights, the light display look very techie, very modern, I guess probably
is the best way to put it. I see a lot of Range Rover in that thing. Yeah, I do too,
with the box, the shape of it and everything. They really up their game, not only with the
hybrid version that you can get, but also a lot of the tech and some of the things inside of it
too. Oh, it's going to be, we knew it was coming because I had the Palisade plug-in,
Palisade hybrid. Like a month or so before? No, it's like. Was it weeks before? Two weeks
ago. Okay. So it came out first and we knew the Telluride wouldn't be far behind. Right, right.
So here we go. It's about to hit, but we got all the information, excuse me, for you in this week's
free weekly newsletter. In fact, that was one of the last things we put in there.
Yeah, yeah. And lucky for you, because it was an abbreviated version,
I didn't ask you to pick a video. It's for you to lose again.
Going to give me a complex now. Thinking, oh, well, I'm never going to measure up because
the videos are awful. But next week, we're back. Game back on. Tariff report is back.
Quick shifts is back next week. Your loser video will be there. My loser video.
And your winning video, right? Yeah. Okay, fine.
James in Houston. Welcome to the Car Pro Show. Merry Christmas.
Well, Merry Christmas to you and thank you very much for taking my call.
My pleasure. How can I help you, sir? Well, I have a 2012 Ford Expedition King Ranch.
And it's in pretty good condition, but it's got 175,000 miles on it.
And I need to replace it. And, you know, I'm a big believer in when you want advice,
go to people that know what they're talking about. So I appreciate that.
Well, it's in any event, I am looking for it does not have to be new. In fact,
I'm kind of ruling out brand new. But I would like a low mileage full size SUV.
You know, the year is not all that important, but I really don't want to buy somebody else's
problems. No, I get it. I'd like something around the, you know, the 10,000 mile range.
Is the expedition that you have the right size for you?
Yes. Okay. I work in the energy industry out in the field. And as a result,
the third row seat is never up. I keep a lot of stuff in the in the cargo bay area. Okay.
You know, the changes to the expedition that they've made since 2012.
You're two generations behind the the 2025 is all new and it's very different.
But, you know, if you're trying to go used, if you go 21, 22, 23,
you're going to get the the 3.5 EcoBoost engine, which has been great.
You're going to get a 10 speed transmission, which is great for your field economy.
It's been a good transmission. If you go to my website, James,
and click on find a car near the top, put expedition in there, look at the Tahoe,
look at the Yukon, but start there because they're all at my dealers.
If you're not looking at a car pro recommended dealer, you're just rolling the dice.
Call the car pro for a short thing at 1-800-926-7777.
We at the car pro show love the happy listeners. These are the folks that
have sought Jerry's advice on what kind of car to get. Then they follow the advice,
including the method of the way that they go through dealing with a dealership and his contact person,
and they have great stories to report. For example, Arthur in Houston went to North
Freeway Hyundai and talked to Randy Todd there about a Hyundai Tucson Limited, said everything
was easy and straightforward. No games, no harassing phone calls, great pricing, great service.
Couldn't ask for a more pleasant experience. The wife did some shopping on her own before
he got involved. It's telling us wife a little bit there. Dealing with some of them felt like,
and these are his words, hostage negotiations. It's a great way to put it.
It kind of is. And then price forward over in the Modesto Stockton area is where C,
that's the only thing we got, just the initial C wanted to keep it on the deal there,
dealt with James Figuerel, who you know very well.
Oh, very well.
Communications were all great. Manager was great. Salesman great.
Another great car pro experience. Thank you, Jerry and Todd. You threw me in there.
What the hell did you do?
This, I'm just, I'm nothing. I just did this. I'm just reading. I'm the reader.
I'm the guy. I'm the guy sitting to the right of you. Yeah.
Thank you for the service you provide, Jerry and Todd. My fourth purchase through car pro.
Oh, he's been pretty generous throwing me in there. It was just, it was being nice, right?
