So, if you're thinking about making a move, I'm going to tell you that the timing is good,
the incentives are good, and I think the best thing that consumers have going for them
right now is the fact that the dealers are starting to get overloaded in their inventory,
which is kind of good for you because that means that the factories have to put incentives
out there so that the dealers can sell the 2025s, and they can get the 2026s on order.
Because if you're a car dealer and you're sitting there and you got a lot full of 2025s
and the factory comes to you and says, hey, we need you to take 150, 2026 trucks, you're
going to say, no thank you, I don't have room for them, I don't want to pay the interest
on them.
So, the manufacturers come out and they will put big, huge incentives on them, and that
is good for you because that saves you money.
And you know, luckily we didn't know what was going to happen with the tariffs.
So far, they've held the line on tariffs and I've got to tell you, I've been super
surprised, so it's good news.

many of the dealers, if not all, having an overabundance of vehicles.
This certainly makes it a buyer's market and gives you the upper hand.
And these folks are ready to get these things moved.
I mean, you can get a smoking deal on a 25 right now.
Well, my Chevy dealer in Dallas, Fort Worth, classic Chevrolet, number one Chevy dealer
in America, two years in a row, going for year number three, going for the three Pete
right now.
Talk to the general manager, Mike Ward, dear friend of mine this morning.
He has more cars in inventory than he has ever had.
To the tune of how many dollars would you say?
Oh, I know exactly.
What would that be?
$140 million worth of Chevrolet's.
That's crazy.
It's a lot.
So when you were a dealer, you didn't have that many, did you?
The most I ever had was 50 million.
Now, I've been out of the actual business for 19 years.
Yeah.
So all relative cars were a lot cheaper.
50 million at that time was a lot of cars.
Yeah.
I mean, that was probably 2500 Ford's sitting there.
And I had those at all times.
And, you know, but right now, 140 million.
Oh, my goodness.
That's a lot.
So I got to looking at our dealers that are listed at carpro.com, our website and looking
at their inventory because I kind of keep it in my head how many they've got.
But the last five years, they've been so short in inventory.
That's really what I got in the habit of watching.
Yeah, of course.
Well, now the thing, everything's changed.
Factories are pumping cars out left and right.
They're pushing them down dealers' throats and they got to sell them.
Those cars that sit there on those lots cost money every single day.
So they've got to get those things moved out.
Yes, they do.
Or they're going to do those carrying charges in the car business.
We call that floor plan.
The floor plan charges are going to be astronomical.
And that is something that they just can't afford.
I mean, they can't do that.

actually have time to review so I may go drive one and it's a new car and I want
to get a feel for it and take a look at it and I don't have it for enough time

detailed so it takes a while you know you you can't just run a car around the
block and review it you got to spend hours behind the wheel this week I have
spent hours behind the wheel of two vehicles a 2025 Lincoln Navigator L
black label which is the top of the line and I've had boy talk about opposite
end of the spectrum yeah I've had the 2025 Ram 2500 common diesel limited
Longhorn which is the top of the line very very nice truck the Navigator carries
a winter sticker of 125 thousand dollars the Ram truck which will tow almost
twenty thousand pounds twenty thousand pounds holy calf ten tons that's a
beast oh it's huge yeah thousand seventy five foot pound of torque which is
crazy too wow but it's sticker and it just over a hundred grand just over a
hundred grand like 100 like like a comma in the middle so many fibers some kind

down to two models that's okay like to have something that something that can
carry my golf clubs and then 78 pounds German Shepherd it doesn't have to be an
SUV I guess it's got good road feel and all the toys is the Corsair about the
right size for you I could go smaller I don't want to go bigger I don't think I
go smaller with a 78 pound dog I think I'd go I think I'd probably stick with
what you got far as length and width and and that sort of thing it works pretty
well what year is your Lincoln 2020 2020 how many miles run it that's 58
okay that is so just curious you want to go to a hybrid are you is it just about
gas mileage mostly about gas mileage okay I do a lot of density back and forth
and are you thinking just a regular hybrid or a plug-in hybrid where you
could go you know 30 to 35 miles on pure electric plug in okay my house is wired
forward so I can plug it in okay very good I would tell you that probably the
perfect vehicle is going to be the Lexus NX plug-in hybrid it's about the same
size is what you have quality wise gonna be real hard to beat that one price wise
yeah well I gotta tell you and if you listen to the show a lot you know I
always say Lexus and Toyota have the best hybrid systems out there that is true
of plug-ins as well so they'll go I believe the last plug-in Lexus NX we
had actually would go over 40 miles so if your daily commute is fairly short if
it's no more than 40 miles a day and you can plug in at home then I would tell
you that you'll probably never visit a gas station again until you decide to take
it on a trip or go longer distances now one thing I would have to be worried
about with the battery because I always read articles that say the batteries
are still the issue and they become very expensive when they start to run out and
that's why I recommend that's why I recommend Lexus and Toyota their
hybrid batteries typically are good to 200,000 miles which you you'll probably
never get to you'll probably you know want to do something else or trade
before that kind of mileage so I if I were you that's that's the first place
I'd look I think that's your best choice I think you'd really enjoy the vehicle
and I think you're I think Fido will have plenty of room in the back in the
backseat on the Lexus NX does fold down flat so if you want to make him a big
bed back there or something you'll be in great shape I got two great Lexus

information I wanted to let you know that I bought a Nissan Murano and I love
my car but I'm just wondering why I don't see more of them I've only seen one
other car on the road since May and I just want to ask you and see if you know
anything well you know I reviewed it and I loved it I thought it was great they
made a lot of changes that they needed to have made probably five years ago you
know Nissan has been in flux as a car company they've they've struggled they
had a real idiot CEO and thankfully he's gone and the new guy seems to be much
much better and and they just let Murano go down the tubes I don't mind
telling you with the old one and not that there was anything wrong with it
just didn't do anything to it they didn't change it they didn't market it
they didn't advertise it and so the with with SUVs now there's so many good
choices that people looked elsewhere even loyal Murano owners looked
elsewhere well we got the new CEO we got a new Murano in fact Nissan their
product lineup is almost all new now thank goodness and I think I think you'll
start to see him it seemed to me like the Murano was slow to start to hit the
dealers they brought it out pretty quick but then for whatever reason they just
didn't send them to the dealers they didn't build them you know they've done
some cutbacks on production and I think they probably didn't gear up for the
Murano and I think they are now I think I think in the fourth quarter we'll
probably see more available than we've seen in a very long time so I think you
made a great choice I'm glad you got one I like it it's you know it's a vehicle
I recommend because of the value it's it's one of the one of the best priced
SUVs out there for the money for what you get and it drives like a dream so set
tight I want you to know you did not make a mistake and you're gonna see you're
gonna see more Murano's on the road as we go forward and thank you for the kind

welcome back to the car pro show Jerry Reynolds is the car pro and I'm Todd
Chambliss I guess it was last week show where you brought up the term one pedal
driving I did and I had said I had not heard about it because I've never I've
never owned an electric vehicle and you were explaining it and so you I guess
because of that you thought maybe other folks had not heard of it and you wrote
an article about it that's in the newsletter that's exactly right one
pedal driving from what I understand you have an electric vehicle you use the
accelerator and when you have it set a certain way as you de-accelerate whether
obviously by letting off of the gas the car knows at a certain point it starts
to break on its own and when you reach the lighter wherever you're gonna stop
it actually breaks all the way to stop completion correct that's exactly right
okay so one pedal driving you are a fan of it I'm a huge fan I love it I've
loved it on every electric car that I've ever reviewed and the the side benefit
of one pedal driving is when the car starts to slow down it sends because
brakes use friction it sends energy to the battery mm-hmm oh okay to recharge
the van I did not know you didn't read the article I didn't read that part of it
I just said that part I'm not gonna read why I don't know boycotted that one part
that's right holy cow yeah so yeah it's it's good and speaking of EVs also last
week I made the comment yes about and I was kind of praising Ford and General
Motors because they figured out a workaround for the $7,500 federal EV
rebate thought it was genius it was and I I went so far as to say I don't know
which one of them came up with at first but they waited till the last minute to
announce it so that none of the other car companies could do it because they
had them they had to have actually put money down on the electric cars in
stock by September 30th well on September 30th they both come out and
said oh guess what we put money down on our electric cars that are in our
dealers inventories so they'll get to $7,500 as long as you take delivery by
December 31st interesting well the government didn't take very kindly to
that oh no they wanted the $7,500 gone and a couple of senators chastised Ford
and General Motors for finding that little loophole workaround so they did
not force them to completely do away with it immediately but it's gone at the
end of October so you got to the 31st of this month if you want a Ford or a
General Motors electric to get the $7,500 rebate just taking the fun out of
everything come on guys so there you have it I've got a full write-up on that
story in next week's free newsletter and just a reminder case you're only

ruggedness okay well no not really it the problem is there's a lot of good
choices yeah I would I would tell her to look at the it's she trying to stay
within a dollar amount by chance okay I got it then have her look at the new
Honda Passport it checks off every box that you said just a second ago and it's
fun to drive and it is a good driving SUV the Subaru Forester or the Outback
both those top-notch quality safety galore and they come standard with all-wheel
drive which at some point she's probably gonna be glad that she had so I would
certainly put put those on the list as well the Mazda CX 50 another one not
gonna break the bank great drive and all these are safe John I gotta be honest
with you I think the Subaru I think Subaru takes safety up a notch but
they're all safe I mean it that's not that's not even an issue anymore so I
would probably tell you to start tell her to start with those three I've got
great dealers for all of them at carpro.com and you can you can go there
and talk to my contacts and get her a great deal sure what it's like to have
a good car buying experience so down the road when you're gone she'll know what
to expect and if she goes to a dealership that doesn't treat her right

well it's the end of an era it looks like if you were a fan of the Lexus
LS back in the day some bad news that was well actually revealed in the news
section of the car pro newsletter that came out yesterday one of Jerry's
favorite cars he ever reviewed he said quote one of the nicest cars he's ever
reviewed bar none it's true the Lexus LS is going away yes it is that's a shame
so the large sedans I guess they're being crowded out by the SUVs and
trucks and all that and those large sedans I guess just are losing market
value market favor because everybody's going to the other vehicles right yep
it's true but they will be back it stands will make a comeback at some
point I think they will too this stuff is cyclical yeah very much so and right
now it's the SUVs that have the hot hand and that'll change it's I mean think
back station wagons were hot property at one time El Camino's were at one point
yeah maybe they'll come back I don't know who knows you ever know start to Brian

yep so I've got a 2024 Raptor it's in great shape it's white it's kind of got an aggressive
look with a aftermarket bumper and light bar on it and I don't I don't have any graphics on it
it's got 141,000 miles what what year did you say it was 2020 2020 okay so 140,000 miles
yep I bought it from Sames in Bastrop and I'm kind of you know I still owe just a little bit
of money on it not much and I'm just kind of thinking you know listening to your
advertisements the inventory interest rates are going down that sort of thing with 140,000 miles
is there a is there a time that you get more value out of the trade in versus you know getting a
good quality vehicle that's my first question okay and then my second question is do you
would I buy an XLT a Lariat another Ford Raptor a King Ranch I'm kind of partial to the half
time not pre-quartered um so I'm just trying to think about best value best ride okay first
question you're you're past that point of maximizing the value when you hit a hundred thousand and
that's okay you've got your money you've got your money out of this thing and and it's still got good
value so it's a raptor they're expensive and there's never enough of them used so it'll it'll
bring good money so you know I don't I don't think there's a time now that is going to make a huge
difference but what do you use this truck for primarily is it just a driver
just a driver I have a ranch and I drive it on the ranch but you know it's not like I'm
a hot racing right yeah oh no of course and that's driving back and driving back and forth to work
and five hours back and forth to central Texas and it's it's going to give you a very firm ride
it it was designed to do that if it were me I would go get a F-150 Platinum
and enjoy that smoothness of that it you're going to think you're in a Lincoln especially coming out
of a raptor that's what I had before this and it was a great vehicle yeah four and I'll tell you
what if I were doing it today I'd get the power boost which is the hybrid
oh really absolutely it it is a great setup you know it's just it's just amazing what that
thing will do and you know I've got people listeners telling me they're getting 28 29 miles to the
gallon on the road driving it properly it's the hybrid buddy we're gonna run out of time
