One pedal driving means you can control the car's speed just with the gas pedal. When you take your foot off the gas, the car slows down instead of needing to use the brake.

You know, AT&T believes that listening to the voice of a loved one can change everything. And you, who loves parks, you know what that is? Listen to the voice of someone we love, it's unique. That's why we watch their messages. It means a lot, right? For me, if we need animals in the parties, be here and call. Marisol, listen to your voice, feel like you're at home. And if I need to tell someone something, call Eric. It's my best friend. Listen to him, it's like a book that I didn't know he needed. AT&T

The Ford National dealer council, he'll tell you when the best time is to buy your lease and what incentives there are now. And always give you a straight talk and honest answers about everything out of motive.
Todd Chambliss, his partner, is a well-known voice in the Dallas area. And he sings in a gladdest night in the Pips cover band on the weekends. Matter of fact, he's the head pick. Now, let's get on with helping you on the CarPro Show.
Well, hi there. Welcome to the CarPro Show. We appreciate you joining us as always. And for the next really two hours, but let's take this hour one at a time. For the next hour, I want to give you a straight talk and honest answers about anything out of motive. So if you're thinking about making a move, we need to talk about it and make sure that you do the right thing.
If you've ever been in a situation where you bought the wrong car or you made a mistake or you overpaid or you were way upside down and then you found yourself really upside down after that.
Let's avoid that. I was in the car business. I owned dealerships for 30 years. I was a big volume dealer. I've seen it all.
And I can tell you how to avoid all the pitfalls of a dealership. It's like any other profession. Whatever it is that you do, there's people like you who do a great job.
There's other people who don't do a great job. Same with car dealers. There's good ones and there's bad ones. Unfortunately, the bad ones tend to be really bad.
And that's why I've put together a list of dealers that I trust, that are friends of mine, that I send my friends and relatives to and I send my listeners to.
So if you want to pick my brain, we lost a call or two during the change over of hours. So if you want to call me on the chase dot com car pro hotline. The number is 800 926 7777 800 926 7777.
If you call and you get in lines are all filled. Wait till somebody hangs up or we go to a break and call again 800 926 7777. And the head pick is with me.
You wouldn't know it from just sitting close to me, right? I never know you could sing like that. Well, I really can't, but I do like the music. I'll say that much. Oh, absolutely.
Yeah, it's, it's just a really cool time with the last quarter being here. And we've talked about this earlier in the show and even on the Dallas show, the, the local show where, you know, yes, the, the nationwide, the, the federal EV rebates have gone away.
Ford and GM found a way around that. But with that being said, other folks are responding. It is last quarter and folks are being the dealers out there are motivated to get your business. They want to end strong and they have lots of tricks that they can do with rebates and other things to help make that possible for you.
Yeah, no, no question about it. And, and look, EVs are here to stay. And I predicted years ago that they might eventually get to 10% of the market they never did. Well, I take that back. They may have in September. I haven't seen all the numbers yet. I will have them in next week's free newsletter, however.
But, you know, they're not going away. And the manufacturers and the dealers know that they have to heavily incentivize them to make them attractive because people are Larry of them. I was at first. I have one now myself.
I love it. I've loved every EV that I've reviewed. There's just, there's cool things about an EV but they're not for everybody. And as the range gets farther and farther, I mean, we're seeing cars now with 400 miles of electric range.
And a lot of that has to do with your driving has to do with weather, believe it or not, but as the range gets longer and the process continue to come down more and more people are going to make that transition.
And there's nothing wrong with that. I really do enjoy my car. I love the way I love the acceleration. I love the quietness. I love one pedal driving, which you won't know what that is unless you've got an electric bike.
I guess I don't know what that is. Well, you'll never use your brake again. If you, if you use one pedal driving. So when you love the gas, it just starts to slow the car. That's crazy. And you can set it for half fast. It starts to slow the car. Oh my gosh.
And once you get used to it, it's a great tool. I love it. Certainly is less fatigue. I would imagine it is. And as you let off the accelerator and the car starts to slow friction since a charge to the battery.
Really? So it's regenerating itself. Oh my gosh. That's great. It's cool. Let's talk to Dave and Gainesville, Georgia. Dave, thanks for holding. How can I help you?
Well, Jerry, I'm a good example of your model, what find the right dealer. So as you said, I live in Gainesville, Georgia. I'm looking at Alexis hybrid. And as you know, the dealers here in Georgia aren't exactly cooperative.
So I'm looking to contact Fred Forshey in Houston. Yeah. So so my questions are relate to kind of looking ahead to the process. So so I'd be willing to fly the 750 miles to Houston to pick up the car.
But then, you know, in my past life, I'm 77. I always remember, you know, when you drive a car a lot of miles, especially a new car, you're supposed to break it into very the speed. So are there any issues with me driving? No, not anymore.
Not anymore. That is not an issue.
The second part of the question is, how do I, how do they handle the trade? I have a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe with a whopping 96,000 miles.
You know, if you're going to fly in to get a car, and I love Fred, he's a great guy. I've got great dealers in Dallas, too.
If it's easier for you to get to Dallas, but you know, probably in your case, I would tell you to go to my website car pro.com. And at the top of the page, you'll see sell a car.
And if you'll put the information on the car in there, they'll make you an offer and they'll come get the car and they'll write you a check and be done with it.
And all the dealers now have software where they can do the actual Georgia registration from the dealership.
So that used to be a big problem, but I'm seeing this more and more. I'm seeing a lot of my Oklahoma listeners come into Texas.
I've had California listeners come to Texas. I've had Texas listeners go to California.
It's becoming more mainstream. And if you can get a great deal and deal with somebody honest, it's worth it.
Talk to Fred and see what he can do for you.
In sports, when you hear...

That means...

But when you hear straight talk, connoisseurs about everything automotive...
That means Jerry Reynolds, the car pro, will help you. No curveballs.
Come on now, 1-800-926-7777.
Every single week you've got reviews and the newsletter, the free newsletter, by the way,
that's always helpful. Jerry will typically do one review and Amy, our producer of the show will actually do another.
And sometimes you have two a week and sometimes you have one depends on the week.
That's true.
But this past week you're a review of the 2025 Lincoln Aviator Black Labor Review.
One of the most clicked items this week in the newsletter.
And I was marveling at all the luxury in this thing inside and out.
This thing was nice.
This looks like this is one of those prestigious type vehicles.
When you've either made it or you want to reward yourself and you have the means to do it,
this is what you'd probably want to get.
Yeah, it is. It's super nice.
The screen set up in the Lincoln's are just amazing.
I love this one because it's got 400 horses, 415 pound feet of torque.
And it's a V6.
And there's still a lot of us out there that really like V6's horses.
You know, some SUVs this size, mid-size, that are coming with four cylinders.
And there's nothing wrong with that.
When you drive one of these new four cylinders, you're going to be surprised to have much power it really has
because of the turbochargers, which as we know now have become really reliable.
Yeah.
But the six has an old school kind of a power feel whenever you know you've got that out of the hood.
It does.
And it's mental.
I don't mind telling you.
Right.
A six-hander just in a pretty heavy SUV just feels it just sounds better.
Oh, sure.
You know, I don't know how to explain it.
Right.
Canoga Park, California, we go and we talk to Allison.
Hello, Allison. Good day to you.
Thank you.
Hi.
How are you?
I'm good kiddo.
Thank you and Todd for all your help with this.
My car is definitely challenging to say the least.
Currently driving at 2018 Audi Q5.
Love the vehicle.
However, I got to just shy of 100,000 miles on it and the cost of maintenance is making it challenging.
So I'm looking at replacing it.
Hopefully with something semi-compable, but maybe not necessarily in the luxury line.
But the person that's going to have good handling, good acceleration, probably a two-row.
I'm wondering what you had some person to suggestions.
Well, I will tell you that it's a little difficult to go from something as nice as an Audi to a non-luxury.
But if you're going to try to make that transition, then here's a couple that I would certainly put on the list.
One of the biggest surprises for me in reviewing cars over the past three years was the Mazda CX70.
It's a little larger than most mid-size SUVs and what Mazda did was they took a good size mid-size SUV
and did not put a third row seat in it.
And so the cargo area in the back, which may or may not be a big deal to you,
but the cargo area in the back was just ginormous.
And with that extra room, they also put more room into the second row seat.
So this thing is truly a mid-size five-passenger that is comfortable for five passengers.
But the bigger thing was the ride, the drive, the quietness and the quality of the interior.
I was pretty astounded with this SUV. I don't mind telling you.
So let's put that one on the list.
The new Honda Passport is really something special.
Honda outdid themselves with this one because the old passport was nothing special.
I liked it, but I didn't love it.
This new passport, everybody that I helped get one just raves about it.
And we know Honda quality is right up there.
Now, if you want something that is less SUV, more car, but still has got some SUV characteristics.
Look at the new Toyota Crown Signia.
I've got reviews up on all those at my website.
Search box at the top Allison, put in Signia, put in passport, put in CX-70.
And the reviews will pull up and you'll see what I'm talking about.
I think any of those would serve you well.
If you just can't make that transition, if you decide to stay luxury, look at the Lexus RX, always a great SUV.
Look at Mercedes-GLE.
I have one of those myself.
It's a wonderful SUV.
I got good dealers for all of them at their website.
Even if you don't know a crossover from a cross stitch,
Jerry Reynolds can help you call the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
And next up is Carl in North Houston, Texas. Welcome, Carl.
Jerry, thank you. How are you doing today?
I'm doing fine, sir. What could I help you with?
Jerry, I'm looking at getting a Porsche Pan Amara use 2021-2020.
Yeah.
What experience have you had with it? What is your thought?
It's been great. I had a 2022
for a good while.
Probably ranks up with one of my favorite cars ever.
If not the favorite car ever.
The ride, the drive, the interior, the way they laid that out.
Everything is right within your touch.
Right there in the center console. It's so logical.
And the car just drives great.
And the shocker for me was because I'm a I'm a sedan guy.
I'm not really an SUV guy.
Right.
And the shocker for me was how much room it had in the back seat.
And you know, I've loved Porsche's all my life.
I've had a number of them through the years.
But I've never had one I enjoyed more than the Pan Amara.
Which engine are you thinking?
The V6, the standard Pan Amara with the V6 in it.
Yep.
I don't need all.
I'm seven years old.
I'm not going to be a race car driver.
Yeah.
And the six is by far the one you're going to find the most plentiful
when you're looking used.
I had a V8, but I like speed.
You know, I was coming out of a Corvette.
I didn't want to completely shock my system.
But I wanted a car that would do everything that the Corvette wouldn't do,
which was be a good daily driver.
And even though I don't drive it much because I'm always reviewing something.
But it's just an enjoyable car as I could tell you that I know of anywhere.
Unfortunately, I don't have a dealer in Houston that I work with.
But I do have a great one in Dallas that helps a lot of my listeners down there.
And it's easy to ride by the airports, easy fly it up, drive it back.
You'll find them at carpro.com.
And if you'll choose Dallas as your market instead of Houston,
they'll pull up or you can use the zip code.

Welcome back to the car pro show with the car pro himself, Jerry Reynolds.
And I'm Todd Chandler.
It's the names on this list.
Of course, you know very well.
Portia, Lexus, Toyota and others.
The highest ranking automakers in the JD power 2025 brand loyalty study.
Which I assume they do every year.
Is that right?
No, you.
And you're a big fan of JD power and what they do.
Well, they do a good job.
And they get a big, broad cross section of people.
This study, for me, is one of the better ones.
Because, you know, after a few years,
if you would get, if you found yourself in the market for a car,
would you buy the same one?
Right.
And that tells you a lot.
It does.
So yeah, this is a good study.
I think the only study they do that I don't care about.
And I still give it to you in the newsletter.
It just goes a lot of people want to see it.
And it's probably one of the bigger ones of the year,
but they do the dependability study.
And they gauge the number of things that have gone wrong per 100 people.
Are they major things or are they just everything?
It's everything.
And that's my issue.
Ah, okay.
If somebody gets a new car and they have a transmission problem,
that counts as one thing gone wrong.
And you want to know about that.
But if somebody else with the same car has a broken ash tray,
that counts as one.
I don't know if they had ash trays in cars anymore.
Some still do.
Do they really?
I didn't know that.
It was just an example.
Okay.
I thought maybe like a blinker light or something,
but hey, yours is just as fun.
A broken ash tray.
Why not?
Blinker light works.
Whatever.
It's not as severe as a transmission.
No, no, you're right.
But it counts the same.
So it's a flawed situation.
I think it is.
Sure.
I get that.
I mean, there's probably some good information to come out of it,
but I don't know what it is.
Yeah.
Let's talk to Ken.
And he is calling from Hawthorne somewhere.
Hawthorne, California.
California.
Well, hello, buddy.
Welcome.
Hey, hey.
Thank you very much for taking my call.
Yeah.
Beach boys, home to boys.
Oh, okay.
It's right.
All right.
Yeah.
I went to Hawthorne high.
Wow.
Believe it or not.
I went to Hawthorne Elementary.
You did?
Yes.
All right.
All right.
All right.
And now I work for the school district here in Hawthorne.
So I've been in the maintenance department there.
So blah, blah, blah.
Well, why can't I be with that?
Hey, so I have, I had a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
And I'm about, about three years ago, four years ago.
The engine blew out on me.
Just went kaput on me.
I, I then was, uh, it was, it's such a great shape.
It's in the garage all the time.
I, I did get a new motor.
Um, for it.
And, um, I rebuilt it.
I got, well, I actually got a new motor.
Got it installed.
And then I've got, it's overheating now.
It's been overheating.
I've got new water pumps.
Radiator.
Um, um, what do you got thermostat?
Yeah.
And then took it to Utah.
And it did it again.
I'm after, after a few months of having it, um,
put repaired.
And then I got a new one there.
It's a Napa one.
So I've kind of done with that.
I think.
And I was thinking about, uh, by the, um, um,
Genesis G, G, G, G, G, G, V, 80.
Yeah.
That was one in 2021.
They've been, they've been terrific.
I don't know of any issues with them at all.
Um, Hyundai Genesis since.
Probably 2018.
They have been just exceptional.
And, and, and from the standpoint of enjoyable,
I don't know if there's anything better out there.
You can spend more money.
But I don't know that you're going to get anything nicer
than that.
They're interior are outstanding.
Now bear in mind.
Beautiful.
Yeah, they are.
And they drive good.
Bear in mind.
You don't get to get to.
100,000 mile remainder of the warranty when you buy used.
But you do get five years or 60,000 miles on the powertrain.
And you can get an extended warranty.
And I think that's a good idea.
Not because you're going to have a major problem.
Just because I think, you know, certain things could go wrong.
Like an air conditioning compressor that's now a couple of thousand dollars.
And usually, usually with an extension warranty,
one repair will pay for it.
And, you know, like I say, on my FAQ page under extended warranties,
good dealerships sell good warranties.
So if you find a good Genesis dealer that you can deal with,
that you like.
And you can find a 2021 that's got a good, clean history report.
Then I think it'd be a great vehicle for you.
You know, about 48,000 miles.
It's the 3.5.
It's the turbo all will drive great.
Great.
Great choice.
Yeah, I can't say enough about it.
Yeah.
And then I'm so also what should I pay for that maintenance contract?
What would you extend a warranty?
You know, it's 120 miles, 120.
That's a hard question because there's so many variables.
There's different coverages and for each one of those coverages,
there's different miles and times.
You know, if I were you, I would,
I would get something that covers more than just the power train.
And I would get it for as long as you can,
but calculate your miles and know, you know,
if you want to get a five year plan and you're only driving 10,000 miles a year,
then a five year 100,000 miles is going to be a waste.
And you can buy a five year 50,000 mile warranty for a lot less money.
So no, no your mileage.
That's a, that's a big thing.
And a lot of times I find that people don't.
They have no earthly idea how many miles a year they drive.
Well, it's, it's an easy calculation from the last time that you had your car smog checked to today.
How many months has it been?
Divide the number of miles by the number of months and times 12.
And you got your annual mileage.
It's really simple.
So I've got a great dealer,
a dealer for Genesis and Santa Monica.
I don't know how far that is from Hawthorne, but it's really, really close.
Is it?
Take a look and see what they've got at Genesis Santa Monica.
There's a guy there named Jake Weber who would take really good care of you if he has something.
And I know, you know, it will probably be factory certified.
And you may not need an extended warranty with a factory certified.
Take a look at it.
But if they've got something, Jake will take good care of you.
And you're going to love the vehicle.
It's going to ride and drive so much better than that Jeep you've been in.
And the quietness and the interior is just so many, so many positives about it.
So thanks for the call.
I appreciate it.
Can take care of yourself.

That the QuickShifts is another part of it that gives you some of the interesting stories out there that are automotively themed.
If that's a proper way to say that.
Austin apparently has been testing out these Tesla Robotaxies.
And apparently wasn't long before they started rolling into things, started clipping poles, started dead stops in intersections.
Locals have been spotting them all over town.
And apparently it's like one of the new as you joked in the headline tourist attractions there.
Going to Austin to see what kind of crazy chaos is going on with these Robotaxies.
Yeah, I was funny.
Yeah, that was really funny.
And they're not ready for prime time just yet as far as being self-driving and being autonomous I guess.
Yes.
Next week in the QuickShifts column.
I tell you about Lindsay Lohan.
Okay.
She can't buy Ferrari.
She can't?
Nope.
They won't sell her one.
Oh really?
Nope.
Oh my gosh.
I'll tell you why.
I can't wait to see that one.
Ferrari's funny.
Yeah.
You can't buy a new Ferrari.
You can't.
No.
Unless you buy a used one first.
Have they always been that way?
Yep.
That's really strange.
So you could be, you could be, uh...
Lindsay Lohan.
Or the, or Joe or Bezos or anybody with any kind of money they still won't tell you a brand new one.
Unless you bought a used one.
That is correct.
That's crazy.
I know.
But it's their company.
What can you do?
It works for them.
Apparently so.
Except for Lindsay Lohan.
No Ferrari for her.
No Ferrari for her.
No.
Oh wow.
Yeah.
So let's go back to the phones and we'll go to Austin, Texas and talk to Peter.
Peter, welcome.
How can I help you?
Hey, Jerry.
How you doing?
Hey, good man.
What's going on?
Well, talk about those robot taxies.
I live in Austin, Texas and I saw one the other day that was almost in a ditch.
Oh wow.
That's unreal.
Yep.
Well, hey guys.
Let me cut to the chase.
So I'm looking for an SUV crossover.
Maybe I could tell you the highlander, the Subaru accent, the Honda pilot,
or maybe like the Kia tell you ride or the Hyundai policy.
I just want to get you guys an opinion.
I want a third row seat and I have twin sons and a wife.
What's your biggest hot button?
Reliability and also safety.
Okay.
They're all safe.
No issue there.
Yeah.
How long are you likely to keep this SUV?
I drive my cars for about ten years to get a new one.
I've even also looked at the Atlas Volkswagen Atlas as well.
So I thought that one in the mix.
Yeah.
I drive my cars let's say between five to ten years.
And how many miles a year are you typically drive?
Great question.
I drive about 15,000 miles a year.
Okay.
So you're looking for something trouble for a 150,000 miles.
That.
Yes, sir.
That would tend to put me in the highlander camp.
It's just been so good now.
We're starting to see history enough on the Palisade to tell you right to say that they're
doing very well.
That hasn't always been the case.
Some of the earlier ones, 2021, 2022, they had some all consumption problems.
And, you know, they've got that straightened out.
But all around, I think the highlander is your best choice.
And I would tell you to look also at the Grand Highlander.
It is wonderful.
And you'll have a trouble for 150,000 miles.
No doubt.
Get your best style, ladies and gentlemen.

I guess one was a female carbide.
The other was a female involved in the carbying experience and positive results for both.
If you can go and follow me on that.
Yeah.
So, first of all, Matthew was interested in Alexis ES350.
Talked to Fred Forshay who we mentioned earlier in the show, by the way.
Alexis of Clear Lakes said Fred was friendly, knowledgeable, made the whole thing very easy and enjoyable.
He said that his mother was along for the ride and she was stressed about...
I guess he was buying it for his mom as well.
I'm taking from this because she was stressed about buying a new car,
made her to point, rather Fred, made her to point to have small talk weather to ease her nerves
and making sure she felt comfortable.
And the whole thing was just a great experience for both of them, which I love that.
Yeah.
And then Christine was interested in talking to a hot finds Hyundai McKinney for a Hyundai Tucson.
Talked to Daniel there says that is a had excellent response to her first text.
Even though it was on a Sunday, Daniel helped with decisions, finding a better car to better price.
He listened to me and heard me.
More importantly, respected me as a female, unlike the salesman who sold her the trade in 13 years earlier and not through car pro.
Well, that's in the Dallas market McKinney is.
And they do a great job.
For a sales, Daniel is a salesperson.
Now, he works directly with the general manager Anthony Rich.
Yes.
But to have a salesperson reply to a text on a Sunday.
And quickly.
And in Texas, because dealerships are closed on Sunday.
Most of them are 99% are.
That was impressive.
That's outstanding.
Well, I've always loved helping the lady callers.
