The car pro show is on the air with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro. Jerry's an auto industry veteran for over 35 years. And he was also chill.
The chairman of the Ford National Dealer Council is co-hosted as honeyvoiced, well-known announcer Todd Chambles. Here they are now with straight talking on a stanchors about everything automotive on the car pro show.
Well, hey there, welcome and thank you so much for joining us here on the car pro show. We're going to be with you for this entire hour and we've got another hour to go after that. And we'd love for you to stick with us even if your market doesn't get all through.
It doesn't get all three hours of the show. We're on three straight hours live from car pro dot com our website. Also the place where you go to subscribe to our free weekly newsletter.
And you can join well over another 150,000 part of the family that get the newsletter every Friday and they stay up to date on what's going on in the auto industry.
They know what's going on with rebates. They know if their cars got a rebate, they know the latest incentives which are ever changing.
Those things change. And boy did we see some change this week with the end of the month and the end of the quarter.
So as we head into the fourth quarter of 2025, I don't know what's going to happen. I don't know what to expect. I really don't.
The tariffs are going to affect car prices more than they have in the past. The automakers have been able to hold the line fairly well on the tariffs and not affecting prices.
But I'm telling you what I'm seeing on the new 2026s that are coming out there taking a just a huge escalation in price.
That's why if I were in the market, I would be looking at a 2025 right now. All right, old honey voices with me.
I've been caught lots worse than that. So I'm going to go and stuff. I've caught you worse than that.
No, I know. Probably a few minutes ago, I think actually. No, it's a great obviously great weekend with the incentives, especially the EV incentives going away.
After Tuesday, it's going to be a different landscape Wednesday on. I mean, nobody knows exactly what's going to happen, especially for the last quarter, even the first week into the fourth quarter.
So I mean, we can't stress enough. This is really the time to get something done. And if you were looking for an EV, I mean, you absolutely dead drop have got to get to someone and get that squared away before Tuesday's gone because there has been no reprieve on that.
There's no extension. Oh, that's not happening. Not going to happen. The big beautiful bill pretty much guarantee that it just. Yeah, so this is the time. And they're and they're motivated to go make some deals not only with that 75 hundred, but it being the end of the quarter and end of the month.
Yeah, it's all kind of other incentives on electric right now. Forward, for instance, they're giving you a home charger. That's right.
And installation installation. That means that's a $1,500 deal right there. Hard to pass that up. And the other. Yeah, it's hard to pass up. And as I've told everybody that's ever asked me about electric, be sure you get a home charger.
You're going to be miserable. Oh, yeah. And I promise you, you do not want to rely on public chargers.
Oh, that's going to be an endless chase, even the Tesla chargers. Yeah, it's not worth it. Trust me. Yeah, let's go and talk to Pam and she's calling from Willis, Texas. Hello, Pam. How can I help you?
Hi, Jerry. Thanks for taking my call. It's a pleasure.
I like some advice. I don't mind. And so I have a 2018 Mazda CX 9. I commute back and forth from Willis to Sugarland every day. Right.
It's about 150 mile round trip on highways 45 that way, 89. So about 40,000 miles a year.
I'm I have 205,000 miles on this Mazda. So I'm meeting another vehicle to get me through maybe kill retirement.
Yep. And I'm looking for some mid size SUV. My budget's about 40 K. And I'd like a little luxury, although it's not a requirement, but I like the heated cold seat.
Third row is not necessary. Nice if it's fair. And the current gas mileage I get is 25 miles to the gallon. So I'd like to stay in that range as well. Right.
And just don't I don't know where to turn. I'm not, you know, make a model or I'm not sure where to turn.
Well, thank you for all. Thank you for the information that you told me everything I needed to know. Now what I would tell you is for you with the amount of miles that you drive.
I think you're wise to stick to a Toyota or a Honda. If I were you, I would go with a certified one instead of a new one.
Because you're going to save that first year depreciation if you go certified right. Let somebody else take that loss.
Your car is going to depreciate at a twice the fact at two and a half times the rate of the normal person that drives.
So if we can cut that down and maybe shorten up the amount of time that you trade cars, maybe, maybe you only go four years and trade before the next cars completely worn out or you start to have trouble.
So here's here's what I would tell you. You can get a nice certified highlander hybrid for your price range.
You can't get a new one for that but you could get a certified one for that. That's going to up your gas mileage and it's going to get you a great vehicle for a quarter million miles period.
I mean they just go forever and you're going to be happy too because you got a third row seat and you got a little bigger SUV so you get a little bit better ride right.
It's much time and the hybrid is good. Oh it's absolutely absolutely the best hybrid will pay for itself as many miles as you drive.
It'll pay for itself within the first year.
Okay. And if I were you, that's exactly what I would do.
All right. Thank you Jerry so much for the information. I appreciate it and love your show.
There's one more little step to this. You need a great dealer. You need a great dealer and I've got great ones at carpro.com near near the top.
Click on find a certified carpro dealer near me and put your zip code in the closest one to pull up. Let them help you.
That will save that could save you thousands of dollars and a lot of hassle.
So let's do it that way and let's get you in a let's get you in highlander. You'll never regret it. You'll enjoy it.
And I tell you when somebody tells me they drive 40,000 miles a year, I'm thinking two things. Comfort and reliability.
And that describes the highlander.
Yes. And and I like some safety a little bit too. Right. I don't want to be in a small. No.
Practic car. It says they're all safe these days. Yeah. I understand. I've driven on 45 many times.
It's you're taking your life in your own hands. I appreciate the call kiddo and talk to one of my dealers.

We're today at the the Texas gosh. The text the Dallas Nationals. I had to think for a second. God.
That was thirty third. Thirty third and right here, farmers branch Texas where they have tons of Mustangs.
Had a gentleman from the Texas auto riders association pop by just a minute ago and reminded me of my love of Mustangs.
And of course they don't remind me of the review that you did of the the GT that beautiful.
Is that the cherry red or fire. They call it race red race red man.
That will probably get you pulled over before it's all said done with. Yeah, I had had a GT myself.
It was a black GT, but beautiful car and you do reviews at least a couple of week and the newsletter.
So again, if you were thinking of buying a car, Jerry is probably already reviewed it or he's reviewed a previous one.
Amy does reviews as well. They're all right there in the newsletter. Make sure you go check out the newsletter.

There's a link you can sign up and it'll be sent to you the latest one immediately. And then you'll get it every Friday.
Yes, you will. Let's go to Torrance, California, Los Angeles area and talk to Susan. Susan, how can I help you?
Oh, hi, Jerry. Thanks for taking my call.
You bet. I'm a little, I'm a little bit of a dilemma here. I want another car.
It could be new. It could be just barely used. And I thought, okay, let me start with a hybrid and look for a hybrid.
And I started test driving some hybrids and what I found out, I test, I test drove a Mazda, I test drove the Lexus in X, the Lexus RX 350, the Toyota Rob, the Forester Hybrid.
And one thing it seems is that most of these cars don't come with a spare tire.
That is correct.
What? I understand why, but as a safety feature, and let's say you're out in the desert and you're driving, not that I'm going to be able to change a tire myself,
but nice to have a tire there so somebody else can change it.
Yes, it is. I don't disagree with you.
Okay, so am I crazy or should I just, since I'm that incomparable, not go with a hybrid and go with the standard gas car?
Well, I will tell you that many, many of the gas cars don't have spares either.
And it's about weight. That was...
The previous administration had put some really, really hard to get to fuel economy standards on to the auto industry.
And they had to cut weight. And one of the ways they could cut was a spare tire in wheel and jack and jack handle.
I mean, you're cutting well over 100 pounds of weight out of a car.
Now, some people will get a... they'll buy a spare tire. Most of my dealers will help you get one.
Some cars are made where you can actually mount the spare tire in there, but most are not.
So, you know, it's a roll of the dice. I got to be honest. I've owned one, two, three, four new cars in the past ten years that didn't have spare tires.
And I actually never gave it a thought. It never occurred to me. But I never had a flat.
So, you know, it's one of those things. And I've seen people get a spare tire in wheel and just put it into the cargo area toward in the back.
And, you know, it's just loose, flying around. I don't think that's a great idea.
But I think what I'm going to try to do is put together a list of cars that have a spare or a spare will fit.
Maybe I'll do that for the newsletter coming up here over the next month or so.
And a new story was boring. Yes. I've never seen that list. It's going to take some work, but I think it can be done.
Well, that would that would be that would be very helpful. That would be very helpful.
I don't know how to solve your problem, Susan. I don't know what to tell you.
You know, the roadside assistance is very good. They get to you quick. I have used roadside assistance on occasion.
And they'll get there quick. A lot of them have spare tires and wheels with them knowing what, you know, knowing what your car is. They'll bring an extra one.
If you tell them you had a blowout and they'll get you going or they'll send a record and tell it.
There's no real answer here. I wish I had one. It's just, you know, do you risk it or do you not? And that's really the only question.
Jerry Reynolds, the car pro will help you get the right car trucker SUV for how you drive calling 1-800-926-7777.
And next up on the chase.com car pro hotline is Victor from Brunswick, Ohio. Hello Victor.
Hi Jerry. I just wanted to thank you for having this program. I've called before and thank you every time.
Thank you, sir. Wonderful. Your great help to everybody, especially like the last lady there that called that reminded me.
I just recently purchased a 25 Subaru hybrid. And it doesn't have the spare tire because of the battery being where the spare tire would be.
Right. Is it right? Some kind of a chemical or a solvent or whatever an issue, you know, able to get the tire inflated to get your off the road.
Yeah. Fix the flat. It's called fix the flat. And it don't help if you have a blowout. Right. But doesn't that make a mess of the wheel itself?
No, it doesn't anymore. Years, years ago it did. That was an issue. But today they've got slack everything else. It's gotten better.
I wouldn't be concerned about using a can of that that comes with the car. How do you like that Subaru hybrid?
It's like I told the police no one to drive it like I still wish. Yeah. There you go. It's great. It is. And the new 25s have the new world platform.
Yes. Right is a lot softer. I mean more. Let's put it this way. The right is firm. But it's a smoother right, quieter right.
Because they made so many improvements on the tone. What you hear in the noise compartment in the back and everywhere.
That was one of the things I noted when I reviewed the 25 Forester was the stiffer chassis. And boy, it made a difference in the handling. Holy cow.
Yeah. Absolutely. It's made to roll nice changes. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Yeah. There's ways people drive nowadays. There's times you have to slow down quick or swerve.
Because they're not paying attention and I'll tell you the responses. Great. The control is wonderful on it. Is there anything I can help you with before we run out of time? Yeah. I was. I had some questions here.
I was on the website before I purchased it. And I looked in there's no dealers within other than in Texas, you know, for the pricing of that.
Well, Texas and California car from Texas and that would it be cross prohibitive to buy online like that from another.
No, not not necessarily. It's worth checking. Depending on the car, but unfortunately we don't have any dealers there.
Thank you, Carl. So calls free car buying advice is rarely ever free, but it is at the car pro show call 1-800-926-7777.
And if I need to tell you something, call Eric. It's my best friend. Listen to him. It's like a book that I didn't know he needed.
AT&T knows that these parties are perfect to share your voice. If you take time without calling someone, it's the moment.
Because more than a conversation, it's your opportunity to say something that will always remind you. In these parties, share love with a call.
And if you want to be happy with this party and feel connected, it's all change.
That's my location, while supplies last.
It's the car pro show with Jerry Reynolds, the car pro newsletter had an interesting article I wanted to talk to you about.
And this seems like it would be something that the other half gets to do.
The one percent or whatever you want to call them, but not necessarily. This is automakers that still offer European delivery.
So what this is about is basically like, for example, Volvo has a program where if you put down a $6,000 deposit for a Volvo vehicle, you can fly to Sweden.
They'll give you airfare for two hotel lights and then you get to actually go to their facility where they're putting together your vehicle.
And then you get to go and test drive your vehicle while you're there. And then when you're done with the trip, you fly back and they ship the vehicle to your home.
How about that?
I have never heard of that in my life and they still offer that.
There used to be a lot of the manufacturers that offered that. And I don't know. I came up on the show a couple of weeks ago, I think.
That's right.
And I decided I would look and see which car company still did that. And so we're down to two.
Porsche and Volvo.
Porsche and Volvo, yeah.
I mean, the old days that pay for your airfare.
Yeah, that's crazy.
I know. It really well. It kind of was.
But you were a fan for life. I mean, creating brand loyalty out of something like that.
Yeah, you do.
It's plus you don't have to rent a car while you're over there.
That's true. You're driving your car. That's great.
And then it shipped it back to your dealer of choice. It was cool.
Unreal.
Let's talk to Natalie in the woodlands. Natalie, you have been mighty patient today. How can I help you?
Yeah, hi, Jerry. Thanks for taking the call. You live in a new band.
Well, good. Good to have you.
Uh-huh.
I am currently in a 2016 BMW X5.
And it's got right out of 100,000 miles on it.
We just retired. And we're looking to travel a bit more.
And I test drove to 26 Genesis GB 70.
The advanced trim. And I'm kind of curious.
One, how all light going from the German cell comfort, reliability to the Genesis.
Because I don't know a lot about this for you.
Yeah, it's, I guess.
Yeah, go ahead.
It's going to be, it's going to be a transition for you.
Because you're, you're really moving from a sporty,
a sporty SUV to a luxury SUV.
And don't let anybody tell you that the Genesis is not a luxury SUV.
I'd put their interior up against anything out there.
What, if, if I'm worried about anything for you, it's size.
It was the GV70 big enough?
Yes, it is.
It is a down step.
And when I sat in it, I did feel a little bit lower.
But it felt fine.
And I normally like bigger cars.
My husband's a little more smaller car.
So it's kind of a negotiation for us as well.
Right.
Also, it's the price tag.
Cars have just gone up so much.
Oh, yeah, they have.
So I just don't want to pay that step up.
So in a way, it kind of keeps me around the same price line.
Since we've retired, you know, and no,
there's the maintenance with them.
No, don't, don't, don't let me talk you out of it.
I just, the, the BMW is not only longer,
but it's taller and wider as well.
But if y'all, if y'all drove it and you're okay with it,
it's a wonderful vehicle.
We've already reviewed the 2026.
And they made some really nice changes in it.
It's wonderful.
So, you know, I don't, I don't think you'd ever regret making the move.
I just want to make sure you're comfortable with the size.
The vehicle itself, 10-year, 100,000-mile warranty,
the concierge service that you get with,
that comes with it, free maintenance.
I mean, there's so, in the interior,
there's so many pluses with the Genesis.
I absolutely love them.
It's just super electric.
So it's like, it's a huge change for me out.
I almost literally feel like I'm going to the George Jetson day.
And then everything's electronic.
It drives itself.
Yeah.
Any concerns by ability of all the electronics?
No, not anymore.
I mean, that's just, it's like your cell phone.
Who would have thought, 20 years ago,
you could not just talk on your phone,
but you could, you know, get on the internet
and do everything that you do.
Take pictures.
You know, that sort of, electronics have just gotten so much better
than they ever were.
And I got to tell you, if, you know,
the 2026 that we reviewed, the GV70,
it had the 3.5 liter V6 with twin turbos.
That engine's been around with Hyundai and Kia,
and now Genesis for a lot of years.
And it has been a great engine.
If you're a little bit nervous about the hybrids
and the plug-in hybrids and that sort of thing,
just go conventional with the engine,
but you'll enjoy everything else.
Everything else is there for your enjoyment and your safety.
Don't be afraid.
Awesome.
I appreciate it.
All right, kiddo, I've got a couple of great Genesis dealers
at my website.
If you'll talk to them, they'll take great care of you.
And if you want to get, you want to get serious about doing something
between now and Tuesday is the best time I see
in the foreseeable future.
Thank you for calling Natalie.
And thanks for listening to the show.
It's good to have you in the family.
Let's go to Lubbock.
And we'll talk to Jan.
Jan, welcome.
How can I help you?
Well, thank you, Jerry.
I appreciate it so much.
You bet.
I am a senior on 74.
And I have a 2009 Honda Civic EXL,
which I love.
And it's about to hit 111,000 miles.
The only thing I've ever had to do is I had to put a new starter on it
and then this summer I had to put a new compressor on my air conditioner.
But it's 16 years old.
Right.
And I think about, I should get another car at some point.
But on the other hand, this car just, it's a dream.
It drives like great.
But here in Lubbock, I will say,
I'm awesome cop between a Ford Ram,
I'm in a Ram and a Ford 50.
And I'm thinking, oh, please see me.
Yeah.
So maybe a little taller car.
So the cars I love are the,
I'd love to have a Honda CRV.
And I kind of fell in love with the 2025.
I think I'll go gas because I plan on keeping my car for another 16 years.
I'll be 90 by then, so no need to trade.
God, I'm a little nervous about a hybrid in the terms of plus or longevity.
And also Jerry, do I even really need to rush into trading cars
when I'm perfectly happy with mine?
No, you do not need to rush.
You've got, that car's got a ton of life left in it.
Being an old nine Honda with, gosh, those miles are so low for a 16 year old.
I would take my time.
I think you're on the right track with the CRV.
I would tell you, the biggest reason for you to trade is safety.
Because of the safety technology and the change that's come about,
since yours was new, where God forbid, where you begin to erect,
you'd be much safer in the CRV with the newer technology.
So for those reasons, I'd look, but don't rush it.
Don't be in any hurry.
And I think nothing's going to happen to that Civic.
I'm going to tell you right now, that thing's got a lot of life left in it.
But it's got value too, so you don't want all the value to go away.
And yeah, I would look, but don't be in the hurry.
Thank you, Jan.
There are just too many choices in vehicles nowadays.
So get help with yours by calling the CarProShow 1-800-926-7777.
Well, the North American Car Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year jury has unveiled their 30 contenders for the 2026 awards,
something that I know that you typically look for this every single year.
This is the big award.
I mean, this is the one that everybody goes for.
Yep.
Semifinalist is out, and of course, some of the names obviously are no big surprise.
This is for us Car of the Year, Truck of the Year Utility Vehicle.
All the majors are there for Car of the Year.
They have basically the Semifinalist here, Audi A5 Dodge Charger, the Kia K4 hatchback.
Mercedes-Benz CLA, the Nissan Centra, and the Honda Prelude.
They've also got other awards too.
And the actual award's going to be given out, where did I see that?
Is that coming up in the next month or so?
If I remember right, it's typically November.
Okay, yeah.
I knew it wasn't terribly far away.
They just announced it like in the last two weeks or so.
So, good to go see those cars there to see what people are trending towards and the reasons why they picked that.
Again, that's in the newsletter.
Go get that newsletter.
If you don't get it every week, you're missing out on all this great information.
The latest on, of course, all of the tariffs and all the other information that's going to help you
buy a car and to consider different cars.
It's carpro.com.
You can sign up and get that sent to you immediately.
And that way, you get it every Friday, won't you do that?
There you go.
Let's go to George in Houston.
George, welcome.
How can I help you, sir?
I know the museum's closed.
I just want to have a few.
Oh, George is gone.
Okay, sorry about that.
John in Houston then.
John, what's going on?
Yes sir.
Don't find.
How about yourself, sir?
Good.
You're a beautiful day here in Houston.
Hey, I wanted to get your opinion on the diesels for the one-time do-lease.
Yeah.
I got out of the cattle business 10, 15 years ago and beginning to get back in it.
And I know technology changed a lot in those trucks.
And I just wanted to get your opinion between the RAM, the Chevy and the Ford.
Yeah, probably the hardest question I get because they're all so good.
I mean, all three of those are just so good.
There's little differences between the two.
Here's what I would want to know.
Are you going to be towing heavy loads often?
Not really.
I mean, it depends on the market, of course.
But yeah, it's a 25-foot stock trailer or a two horse trailer.
The horse trailer probably flies three times a month.
But the stock trailer, just when the market takes, you know how it is.
I do.
The only thing I'm thinking is, do you want to go to a duly?
If you don't need to, because it just changes everything about how you drive.
You know, I just had- I just reviewed the 2025 RAM 2500 Longhorn with the Cummins Diesel.
And it'll tell 20,000 pounds in a three quarter time.
And you don't get that rough ride of the one time.
That's the only thing I would throw out there to you.
That's what my neighbor's hauling for me right now is the 2500 Ford.
Yeah.
That's what he's using.
You know, if you talk to people that tow, they all have their favorite trucks.
They'll all tell you theirs is the best.
Truth is, you cannot make a bad choice with any one of those three trucks.
I will tell you this.
I like the trailer towing features that Ford has the best.
I think their backup system is the best.
I think their mirrors are the best.
And I'm a huge fan of the power stroke for years and years and years.
And for those reasons, I'd put the Ford at the top of the list if I were doing it.
But I'm going to tell you right now, you can't make a mistake in this segment.
And I've got great dealers at my website.
Don't just get new wheels.
Get the right vehicle for how you drive.
Call Cherry Reynolds the car pro at 1-800-926-7777.
And happy listeners time here on the car pro show.
And folks, listen to Cherry's advice and follow the process.
All the great stories that come out.
Robert, for example, went back to Honda Blake Jackson,
where he bought back in the day a 2022 civic touring sedan from Mike Shaw.
Well, now Mike's son Dale is, of course, keeping the tradition going.
And now Robert has bought a 2025 bridge line from Dale Shaw.
Oh.
Isn't that a nice story?
It's a wonderful story.
And people who have listened to this show for years felt like the new Mike Shaw.
Yeah.
He passed away, unfortunately, two early in age.
I don't know what's been six, seven months ago.
Yeah.
Everyone in the chair, I know that.
And yesterday was his birthday.
Oh, my.
I didn't know that.
Yep.
Holy cow.
What a legacy he has continued on.
And I mean, obviously Dale is just continuing doing a great job.
He even sounds like his dad.
He does.
He really does.
He does.
And that's, of course, in Houston.
And Dallas Fort Worth Park Place Mercedes Ben Stalas is where Lisa went.
Looking for Mercedes GLC 300 referred by a relative who is a car pro member.
Now she's a brand new car pro fan.
I said that she had one phone call with that phone call.
They answer questions and everything she wanted to know they took care of.
After that, she was convinced that this was a great dealership.
Went there and was taken care of in just a few hours.
Well, gladly do business with these folks in the future and recommend them to others.
Well, there you go.
It's a way it works.
You can have that kind of experience if you follow my process.
And it starts at carpro.com.
Los Angeles, we're going to lose you.
But you can stay with us by going to carpro.com and click on Listen Live.
And we've got one more hour to go.
If you're on hold, stay there.
I want to talk to every one of you in the next hour.
So put the phone down. We'll be back shortly on the car pro show.
This baby runs like no.

You know what?
AT&T believes that listening to the voice of a loved one can change everything.
And you who love the parkas, you know what that is?
Listen to the voice of someone we love is unique.
That's why we watch your messages.
It means a lot, right?
For me, if you need animals in the parties, be here and call.
Listen to your voice and feel like you're at home.
And if I need to tell you something, call Eric.
It's my best friend.
Listen to him.
It's like a book that I didn't know he needed.
AT&T knows that these parties are perfect to share your voice.
If you take time without calling someone, it's the moment.
Because more than a conversation, it's your opportunity to say something
that will always remember you.
In these parties, share your love with a call.
Felices fiestas te desea y ciencia y conectar lo cambia todo.
