Get the f***ing job here.
There's too much time.
Get the f***ing job here.

What the f*** are you doing out here?
People are saying this race is like f***ing idiot.
I don't care.
Let me your guy.
What the f*** is he doing?
Is this an American oiling round show?
Did you ever think you would see that?
All the f***ing that just happened.
Holy cow!
Let's go!
Let's go!
Let's go!
Let's go!
Let's go!
I wasn't late on that one.
Dammit.
Welcome on in everybody to another NWP.
The first, the first one that we've had this year after a bye week.
So, fun story.
I don't think Eric was on beforehand when I was talking about this,
but Danny, I told you I had this new junior hat that I got.
I found like a really good condition.
It's like eight bucks, right?
And it's like this really nice material too.
It's like velvet almost.
It's a great condition.
I like to collect these old ones.
There's only one problem.
I have too much hair now
and it won't fit on my head properly
because I have so much hair now.
Because the people, the hair, Jared, show them the flow.
You have to take your headphones off for our view.
Oh my goodness!
It looks like you could play bass in the 80s.
I'll do a hair reveal.
Oh wow, Danny, those locks, they are flowing.
You can see what we're working with here.
That was good.
The people appreciated that.
I've been there though.
I got a big head and I used to say,
y'all know I used to have big hair
and so I had some hats fall out of my rotation
that once I cut my hair,
I could squeeze them back in from time to time.
So that was a nice pleasant surprise.
I'm really curious how this new NWP hat
is going to be on you
that I'm bringing you this weekend, Eric.
I'll make it squeeze, right?
Squeeze it on, no matter.
I'm rocking my Tennessee Titans new logo hat.
We're in agreement that we're only wearing our NFL team
if your former coach is currently in hot water
over a controversy right now.
I can make a joke about NFL insiders,
but I feel like that hit a little too close
to home on that one.
But yeah, that's actually the funny thing.
It's like my hair's so long now that my daughter
finds it absolutely hysterical
and I start head banging to Iron Maiden.
So good music, she likes it.
She's even started to go back and forth
like this too a little bit,
but she doesn't have enough hair yet
to get the whole logo on.
You both can be looking like Dave Mustaine
and Megan Ethon stage.
We'll be head banging in a year or two
at the K-pop Demon Hunters World Tour
because they're bound to do that at that point.
I'll have to wear earplugs
because I think there's nothing that can be
probably louder than a NASCAR race
outside of maybe 70,000 pre-teen girls
screaming at the same singers.
You mentioned K-pop Demon Hunters.
The actual band who sings like their songs.
Did they go on tour anywhere in the U.S.
or anything like that?
They haven't yet. They've done other shows.
I know they did the halftime show
of the Vikings Lions Christmas Game
this past year.
That's like the most thing you can get
to the actual K-pop Demon Hunters concert.
It would be them, I think.
But we're probably going to get way too off track
really quick.
That was racing still.
This whole wake has been off track.
The Figgie Earnhardt cup race has been an off track week.
The meme is dead on that one. They've made merch of it.
The meme is dead.
It's not dead yet because I see Calypso already
super chatting it.
It's the eulogy at this point.
It's the visual for Figgie Earnhardt.
Born in 2026.
Died 2026.
Right next to 6-7.
Yeah, in the entire off weekend.
We've seen a meme be born and die.
How far in the ground is Figgie Earnhardt?
About 6 or 7 feet deep.
Well, there was racing this past weekend
at The Rock.
And I am, baby.
I am saying the Rock Johnson can let cars race
on top of them like that. That's impressive.
So I like the smell of what he was cooking
in that race, especially the O'Reilly race.
Starting off, William Swalich
gets a breakthrough first win.
I don't think a lot of people, especially after the start,
but probably all of last year,
were expecting William Swalich
to just go out there and earn it.
I mean, he was, I think he led like 80 laps
in that event, if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, I kind of lost track to him,
but I didn't quite know how did Corey Day fumble this
because I feel like he had the dominant car at the start.
They lost track position, kind of different strategies.
I think it was the start of stage three.
Yes, I think that's where he fell back.
He was restarting seventh or eighth,
and then he kind of just was stuck there.
And then at the end, they had a loose wheel,
and I think he made an extra pit stop
and had to restart the rear.
He drove back up to 10, but yeah,
I just think it was strategy and not as good
in clean air or in dirty air per day.
That was kind of the thing.
Like Swalich, yeah, he was great then.
He led, you're right, 80 laps.
He was in control of this race.
It was Brent Cruz who for a moment looked like
he was in control.
He actually kind of pushed Swalich out on the way
a little bit there.
They were young guys, muscle teammates,
but you know, they're kind of,
everyone's kind of in it for themselves at this level.
But then Brent Cruz's crew chief left him out
on two tires was the only car to take two
when everyone else in the field took four.
So he lost track position over after a few laps.
And that's when William Swalich just took over.
So I mean, I'll do credit to Swalich.
We did not see anything really special
out of Swalich last year.
He definitely got better as the year went on.
First few months were miserable.
I think we all were questioning,
why is this kid in a Joe Gibbs racing car?
I mean, he won a lot of ARCA races,
but I think, I think if anything,
it was really showing how far our ARCA has fallen.
If the guy who could win nine ARCA races
can't run top 20 in a JGRO Riley car,
but he got better as the year went on,
showed some flashes, big flash here to start this year.
Good job for Swalich.
He did ultimately, he earned it at the end of the day.
I'm looking at the second stage results too,
and he was second.
It wasn't like he kind of lucked into it either,
ran really well.
I've been, I would say of the three of us,
I've probably been higher than on the current crop
of JGRO drivers even before Brent Cruz came in
between Gray, Swalich,
and then you see some of the other ones
that have kind of went in and out of those cars.
So it's like, it's not like he's even been having
a terrible season either.
I think he came into this race,
not great by any means.
I think it was 14th in points coming in.
He's now 11th, pretty well in,
especially after some of the stuff that's transpired.
So, yeah, is he doing as well as probably
that car should be in general?
No, but it's definitely coming to him a bit more,
especially at the start of this year.
I feel like one top five and three top tens
doesn't speak to how fast that team has actually been this year.
And now it's just,
he's finally been able to capitalize on it in this race.
Yeah.
No, I'm happy for him for sure.
I mean, I was looking back at last year,
he still wound up 18th in points last year,
even with the recovery as the year went on.
He still in 18th in points in a JGR car is not good.
It's very, very bad actually as a matter of fact.
And yeah, just got to get more consistent.
You know, he doesn't have to win every race
and lead 80 laps every week,
but we need to start seeing this with some consistency
in the weeks.
He doesn't have a winning car.
You got to run top 10 and hopefully he can start to do that
because yeah, he won all those arca races.
I know we sometimes, you know,
point to the fact that Arca is not nearly as competitive
as it once was.
If you win nine arca races in a single season,
and I don't even think he was full-time that year.
I'm talking, I think you went like nine for 14.
If you win that many arca races,
you got something.
You're not, you're not a bum.
You got to be somewhat talented.
So I think it'll come to him.
This was like maybe the first big step in the right direction,
though.
I'm just thinking it's like welcome to Arca.
We're you're somewhat talented.
Sorry.
It's not even the, it's, it's speed.
There's like, I mean, we saw in the East race this Sunday
or this Friday, Saturday, there's like five cars
that are kind of in one.
It's like, it looks like multi-class racing.
You know, there's like five cars that are in the,
the Le Mans prototype class that are actually battling
for the overall win.
Then you have your like, you have your different like GT classes
and then you have your, your back markers
who are off the pace.
It's just, it's just, there's only a few cars
each week that can win.
And if you're in one of those cars, you need to win.
So all it's did to his credit.
So I'm glad to see some of that Arca prowess
finally showing up on Saturday.
I don't know Riley Carr.
Yeah.
I didn't really put it in the itinerary much
because it, you wasn't, you know,
really great with the finish and anyone in any
way finish last, but Sam Mayer has,
I believe a cylinder go down during the race,
falls a bunch of laps down, ends up DNFing in last position,
falls actually out of the current 12 driver chase
into 13th, 30 points behind Taylor Gray
and a pretty good distance behind the rest of them.
I mean, this has got to be the nightmare scenario
of start for Sam Mayer and that whole team at this point.
I mean, there's just, this is a team,
I think before the season we were expecting to be an outside,
you know, championship contending team.
And they might not make the chase.
I mean, long way to go, but still it's the decent amount
of the way in and they're struggling bad right now.
Yeah.
They're struggling and Parker Redslaw,
he picked up another top 10 this weekend.
They keep proving everybody wrong, you know,
still sitting, still sitting very, you know,
decent in a top 10 right now.
You know, I'm looking at their stat lines and it's kind of crazy.
Parker Redslaw has one top five, three top 10s, zero laps led.
Sam Mayer, two poles, one top five, three top 10s,
94 laps led.
The big difference, Sam Mayer has two DNFs
to Parker Redslaw zero.
Parker Redslaw's going to be like a modern day Paul Menard.
He'll keep your, he'll keep your crap in good shape, I guess.
I think he's overachieving.
All respect to Paul Menard,
but I never saw him as somebody that was like overachieving
in mediocre equipment.
I mean, Anthony Alfredo has been in that 13th to 16th range
in the point.
So it's not like the team overall is bad by any means,
but I don't think anyone's expecting a Viking team
to be ahead of two JGR cars,
a Haas car, a JRM driver for most of the weekends
with Raja, even though he's, you know,
back and forth.
Like to be ninth in points, eight races in,
that's a hell of an achievement for Parker.
Has this equipment like,
that I don't know of any kind of technical agreements,
has it improved compared to what Matt Benedetto was in?
I'm not entirely for sure on that.
They had an RCR alliance, I think, last year as well.
I don't know if it strengthened.
They obviously expanded to a two car team.
I know the owner has money.
I know this, I know the 99 and the 96 were both,
there were a lot of like mid-pack teams and drivers
that wanted those seats.
So I like, I think,
I don't think they would have went to two cars
and they didn't think they could handle the two cars.
Where did Matt Benedetto finish in points last year?
God, I'll say it was.
I'll look it up.
Y'all keep talking.
Well, there's been a strengthening of the Chevy
alliances for sure.
I mean this,
when we were doing our first stream of the year
for the show, like there were,
I'm gonna say three or four new Chevy alliances
and RCR alliances.
So I would have to imagine everybody working that closely together.
It's probably paid off for them.
He finished 27th.
That can't be right.
Is the owner's points different?
No, 26th than the owner.
So they definitely, they've definitely gotten better.
Parker is, you know, he's in the chase at the moment.
Alfredo, for what his work?
Isn't that far removed from the chase?
Maybe last year they got like,
maybe they had like an ECR engine deal this year.
They have a full on alliance.
That's probably the difference.
Cause yeah, that's,
that's a 13 plus position difference in a year.
That's, that's not just the driver.
That's the whole team.
Driver, definitely I would say helps though.
Cause Parker has been somebody who,
like I believe it was rocking him last year,
where he all of a sudden popped up and like,
was it without a prime?
He ended up having a top five finish and was pretty damn good
for a lot of the year.
Like, you know, and then this, this might be a good point too,
is like they could have also slid into that spot that colleague had.
True to some degree.
Resloff was not impressive last year outside of rocking him.
He finished behind Brennan pool in better equipment.
He had an engine deal most of the year.
Brennan did not and they came out of the same shop
and Brennan outran him most of the year.
So I would say Redsloff underachieved last year.
I was more impressed with Redsloff at Jordan Anderson racing.
Have we, have we seen Parker Redsloff get a chance
at what we'd call top tier equipment yet?
I don't know if he's had any part-time starts of anybody.
This is probably the,
well, maybe did he make a one-off somewhere?
I mean, he was with Beard in the Cup Series for a couple of races.
But I think, I think this is probably the best car he's been in
and he's really starting to show us whatever the knife's all about.
He's one of those names that I would watch for.
If like, I don't know, just for an example,
if a Jesse Love gets promoted to cup of RCR,
he could be someone that I would watch for to get a chance
with an RCR or someone like that.
Yeah, why not?
I do want to give Corey Day credit as well, not to move on,
but Corey Day, I think this is seven straight top tens.
Even with the wheel, lug nut, loose lug nut, the bad strata,
whatever happened, you know, lost control of the race,
he still led like a hundred plus laps, was really, really fast,
still kept his top 10 streak alive.
Like this, I feel like it's only a matter of time before he gets
to victory lane and gets his first win.
Yeah, I mean, even when he was having those problems earlier
in the year, getting into people and things like that,
he's still running top five and top 10 in those.
Yeah, he has the most top 10s tied with the Allguyer
this year in the series.
Wow.
See, he's now led 164 in a granite of those 164.
I'm double check here, but I believe like 118 of those
were in the rocking hand, but still 164 laps led, not bad.
I think that's third in the series behind Love and Allguyer.
He's running where a hundred cars should.
I don't care what series it is.
A hundred cars should run top five, top 10.
I think the experience is why he's a little lower
than those other guys that would be in the car.
But by the end of the year, by the time it gets a chase
time, I mean that the gap right now from Love down to Brandon
Jones, second to eighth is less than 50 points.
You know, I don't think he's catching Allguyer, but I don't
think at all it's unrealistic that he can't jump
from fifth in points where he's at now to third or second
in points entering the chase.
And at that point, that's where you got to be to
compete.
Like I would say if the improvement keeps going up
steadily, like we're thinking it's going to, if he's
able to run where a hundred cars should, he should be
competing for a championship this year, which is not
unrealistic at all.
Which I think even in that good of a car, if you're a
rookie to be a championship contender off the bat, I
mean that puts you in a league company.
Like Chase Elliott, William Byron, they were
championship contenders off rip.
And they're both two of the best guys in the cup
series today.
So that certainly bodes well for Corey Day's
development if you're looking at that kind of track
record.
Yeah, I mean, you can go further back too, guys like
Truex, for instance.
Redick.
Maybe not, yeah, Redick, another one too.
Not, you know, maybe didn't have the greatest
starts to their careers, but we've saw it work
certainly top tier cup eligible Dale Jr.
back in the day.
If even I go that far back, so.
Sure.
I mean, how he does this summer for Corey Day
will be a huge influence into where I feel
his career goes.
Because I noticed as a Bowman fan and I'm
sure if I recognize this, he may be a legitimate
candidate to replace Bowman in the 48 if things
don't look better there.
You know, you know, hold on.
Do you guys think you don't think?
No.
Could Corey Day drive the 48 next year?
Next year?
It seems to be handpicked.
That seems early, right?
I'm not going to jump the shark on it yet,
but what I'll say is,
if Bowman has to miss another month or two,
what if there's a weekend O'Reilly has off
and all the sudden Corey Day is available to do
a one off in the 48 do a little starter test.
The thing I'm starting to get worried about
as a Bowman fan, we haven't heard anything
from him.
He's not said anything.
No one's really seen him that I can tell.
It's just been radio silence with him.
This is supposedly Bristol as long as we really knew
with all guy are being in the car and at this point
we haven't heard anything else.
I don't know what's going on from anymore.
Well, and, you know, I won't go too far down the rabbit hole
of like, not I'm going to say conspiracy,
but of like, recklessly speculating.
But I do remember when we were at Darlington in 23,
I think he was hurt around then and, you know,
he was on the box.
I remember he looked like he was feeling uncomfortable
and he looked, but I watched him.
He was at the track.
Different kind of condition though, I feel like, you know,
like this is he probably needs isolation,
very focused rehab.
But I think my point more is so if he were getting close
to being back, you'd think he'd be at the track
acclimating more rather than away.
So he might be back though, you know,
on a week and all this talk is good to see anything.
It'll just like if it's like a random doing a zoom
with Bob Parker's anything, you know,
as he tweeted probably has even probably tweeted anything.
I don't know how active is he much of a Twitter of a tweeter.
Anyway, I'll check that real quick.
He has not tweeted since January 15.
I can't say I blame him.
Yeah, honestly, that sounds healthy if you ask me to cesspool.
Yeah.
I'm hoping though that that we can stave off the
conversations a while on that side of it.
But I do think long term, like that's that would probably be
the goal.
Yeah, I'm not trying to rush him since February 8 or it's
pretty dead there.
I'm not trying to rush Corey Day into the into the cup series.
Actually, I don't think he's ready for that.
I was just throwing it out there as like, well, shoot,
if he keeps running like this, I mean, you know, maybe
Hendrick sees that as an option.
But I'm just saying it may be a situation that's kind
of more like what's a good one kind of like how I
guess Suarez was suddenly frosted into Carl Edwards ride,
something like that.
That's kind of how more more feels like that.
It's just it's just the fact that who's in who's
in Hendrick's pipeline, a bunch of young guys.
I think it's just it's going to take him getting
wins and showing a visible leap up over the year for me
to say that he's even part time cup ready.
I mean, he hasn't even got a win yet.
I know he's doing better.
But but first year I again, I do think he's going to
I think he's going to get multiple wins this year.
And I think that he is probably going to be a championship
contender by the end of the year.
It's a long season.
And the interesting part about the O'Reilly season is
I believe they don't get off race until like after
race 16, I want to say there's like no off weekends
for the O'Reilly series.
I want to say through I want to say through June,
like early June or somewhere in there.
I think it's like Michigan.
They've run more races than the Cup series so far
unless you include Bowman Gray.
Well, I mean points races wise is going to be like
that for a while.
I want to say the Michigan weekend is the first
weekend they have off.
So so it's like he's going to be like if he were
to be in the 48 as a trial run, it would
definitely be probably in the summer because I
think there's like a span in August or like a
five weekend say race twice.
Hopefully we don't have to come to that though.
Now talking about somebody else that was the head
in the conversation of whether or not to rush
them more through the ranks.
Cleetus McFarland made his first start.
And I got to say the Cleetus effect is real.
I noticed it on my post-race stream.
I noticed it in my comment sections.
I noticed it even when they panned to the
grandstand at different points like the dude
makes waves.
But his start with the 33 team and RCR
equipment which is way better than it is in
Cup did not go so good.
I believe he finished 32nd six laps down if
I'm correct.
And that's right.
And it was I mean I think he went like
three wide lap four for 30th and nearly
spun three times in the race did end up
spinning maybe not all necessarily his fault
but still like seemed like way out of his depths
in this race.
I'll give credit for one thing.
He completed 194 more laps than I expected him to.
Did I do your playing with fire with that
prediction?
I'm like, well, we're going to get so many
people who don't know a damn thing about
NASCAR ripping your ass up on that one.
I don't care.
The performance still wasn't that impressive
in my opinion.
So then that's where I kind of lead us
into this.
Did NASCAR make the right decision not
approving Cletus McFarlane to race at
Talladega Super Speedway?
I mean, I think they did.
I think objectively, I agree.
We saw, you know, that he was off the pace
most of the race at Rockingham.
You know, if maybe he would have pushed
harder and qualifying, but you know, if not
for Nick Sanchez and am racing pulling out
he probably doesn't make the show with
the lap time he put up.
So he was off the pace, a few incidents.
But you know, he kept the car mostly clean.
He didn't ruin anyone's day and he did run
pretty much all the laps.
So it wasn't a terrible performance.
I think it was somewhere in between.
It wasn't an exceptional wow, but it
also wasn't, you know, I don't think it
was embarrassing by any means.
It was just proof that, hey, he needs
more reps before you're going to put
him at this high of a level.
And I think NASCAR was right to not
approve him because Talladega, while
he was on track to drive per se, there
are, the margin for error is slim.
And if you do make a mistake, there's a
higher chance of you wrecking a lot of
cars and putting people in very dangerous
positions.
And so when it comes to Cletus, there's
clearly natural talent there.
I mean, the fact that he spun out
four times, but never overcorrected
and didn't hit the wall, right?
Like there's clearly a good feel for
the race car there, but it's the
decision-making, the decision to go
three wide early in the race, the
decision to run in the truck.
Like those decisions, I don't think
NASCAR can trust him when they know he's
going to be in a great car at the front
of the packet Talladega in a few weeks.
So I think their hand was forced and
they ultimately had to make this decision.
I think they were reluctant to because
you talked about the Cletus effect,
they see it too.
I mean, so, but I think they had to
make the right call and I'm hoping
he has a good time in ARCA and trucks
this year because those starts will be
not allowed for Talladega or that saying
if he gets more reps in,
could he hop into Echo Park
or Daytona later in the year?
It's that he's approved
for all short tracks.
So it's not like it, you know, because
I thought at first before I watched
his video and like they really
put out the full report, I thought it was like, oh,
he's going to give it a shot at like Kansas
to get approved for Dega.
And based on what he
said with his schedule, like he might not have an opportunity
to race Dega till next year
based on the way
he did so much better stuff.
Yeah, so, because that's the thing
I would love to see him be able to hop
into Kansas. I'd love to see him hop in a Dover.
I'd love to see him hop in a national
super speedway and get some reps
on some bigger tracks before
we get to then would love
to see him at Chicagoland,
would love to see him at Atlanta,
would love to see him at Daytona
later in the year, but need to see
more reps. But if his schedule
is literally that,
we already know he can't run a full-time season
in NASCAR basically, if, you know.
Well, and I'll say, I'm a surprise.
I know people are clowning me in the comments about it
that I put a video in the video
I said, like I purpose, you know,
purposely said it this way because it's exactly
how my thought process was.
I think everybody's was after
the O'Reilly races. I would not approve
him. I don't think he's put up enough
in any way to do so,
to justify it. But
I'm not surprised, and I, you know,
that NASCAR probably would.
They've already meant the rules enough
of approving him to have an O'Reilly
ride after his only truck experience
was crashing after five laps at Daytona
on his own and not
really putting up anything worthwhile
in ARCA. I believe
it wasn't the main ARCA series. It was
ARCA East that he raced
at Rockingham, right? And he finished
4th. That's what he's supposed to do.
It's been really fun
to look at the responses
to all of this in the comments sections
because I've never seen so many people
who don't know a damn thing about NASCAR
tell everyone who knows everything about
NASCAR or more than them about NASCAR
how much they don't actually know about
NASCAR. Like, I've seen so many
Cletus fans come in and be like, it's the first
time I've watched NASCAR. It's bullshit, man. I've seen
what you can do in a crown, Vic. And it's like,
yeah, this is a whole different thing. I think
Tommy Joe Martins kind of put it perfectly
and it was more expounded upon
with Bozy and him back and forth
is that Cletus
is way more talented
than anyone in really the general
population. But he's not
as talented as like the back of the
O'Reilly or Cupfield as
the average NASCAR driver.
He's that perfect middle ground
where you can at least justify him though
giving those shots
to race up there. I want to see him
race more ARCA and
so he's been fully approved for by NASCAR.
I want to see more of that because
I do think he has what it takes
to be good at this.
I and I want him one day
if he's able to make the Daytona 500
because one it's good for NASCAR. But
the way I want to see him do it is I want to
see him do it the right way and be good
and actually compete not just spin out
lap two of the duels and miss the race three years
in a row.
I mentioned the crown Vicks. My dad
for years was a sheriff's deputy.
He drove a crown Vic for a lot of that time.
The crown Vic
was designed to primarily be
a police vehicle.
It did get a lot of use as a taxi vehicle
as well. Ironically enough
but it's primarily meant for
police forces to be
an easy to
drive yet
sleeper quick car
that could keep up in high speed chases
and
there's no offense by dad but like
he's not like some speed demon or anything
but he could drive that thing fast to be
needed to. It's designed
for a common person to drive it
fast. I'm just front and out there. I know
his are probably souped up a little bit more
but a crown Vic is just
a crown Vic. This is literally what I'm
talking about right here. Like
we've all seen the comments
before he's not projecting trust
me. We're chronically online. We see
the comments. There are plenty of people
using that to justify it and it's like
it's a mix.
What you've run into is you've run into people
here's the problem you've had is you've had
Cletus fans who I think are a little ignorant
to NASCAR but then you've had NASCAR
fans that frankly are a bit ignorant to Cletus
and I think that's where you've butted heads
and that's why nobody's been able to fully agree
on what he's going to do, how he's going to perform
but I think now that we've seen
Cletus at a tough track
in an O'Reilly car, I think now we
know he's
an Arca level driver right now which again
he's only been running stock cars for a year
is extremely important. The fact that he
I know it's just the East race but the fact that he ran
top five at Rocky Ham the other day in the
Arca race, like that's incredible
considering he's only a year into this and he's
not driving one of the tip top teams
or for one of the tip top teams. Like he is
a good talented driver but right now he is
an Arca level stock car series driver
and I think I know the three of us
you won't hear any of us complain about him running
Arca and I don't think we ever have because that's
the kind of place for someone with some
ability like Cletus to go learn to get
reps to see what he's got. I just
think it's too quick to rush him up into
these big, big O'Reilly series races
where there's just so much more on the line
and the talent level, the competitive is so
much greater. And I want to go step further
I want to see him do short track stuff
and honestly if he can hold his own
I want to see him do more
truck stuff. I think
it's pushing the line a little bit but
that's how he's going to learn.
I think Eric you brought
it up in your video and I've seen others bring it
up. It's very similar on a smaller
scale to the Danica Patrick situation
where Danica, there was
something there. People forget
that Danica did run
decently enough. Almost one
O'Reilly series race
ran decently in
JRM equipment. She just needed more
time to get the
talent all put together.
Everything all put together. And
they rushed her to cup
and she was not ready for it
and I think it ruined her
honestly. I don't think she was ever going to
be Kevin Harvick, Tony
Stewart, Ryan Newman. I don't
think she'd be a top 15 cup driver
but I think she would have been
decent enough on her
own. And that's what I don't
want to see that happen at Cleos McFarland
because I do think that the
talent is there. I do think
that the willingness to get
better is there. But
people thinking that he can just
run at Tavadega and that he's going to fly
up top like a bald eagle and win the race
or run up front are delusional
and people also who think that
he's not good enough to be an even
arca at this point are also delusional.
It's crazy
how so many people have latched
on to what the crazies on each side are saying
rather than what literally
everybody like us has been saying of
no, we just need to slow burn this a little bit.
That's all that needs to be done right now.
I think the reality is the reality.
He is cut out for arca right now.
He's kind of comfortable in arca. He's going to run arca
and I think even trucks now, he's ready to start
testing his skills in traffic in a
truck. No doubt. I think no complaints
here from us. That's what's happening
and I think we all wish him the best of luck
because he is fun to watch. He's charismatic.
We joke, we banter
with his, you know, hardcore fans
but, you know, NASCAR
is missing some of that passion.
Some Chase Elliott fans are a little crazy
bunch but like, I mean, we haven't seen
a truly passionate riled up
fan base in NASCAR since maybe
Prime Day Learn Heart Junior. So what
Cletus is bringing to the sport, I mean
is great. So we're all rooting for him
here and I think now we can just enjoy
this is what I said at the very beginning and I got
dragged by some folks. Let's enjoy
the journey. Alright, like let's
watch him continue to get better and better.
Was it fun seeing him almost win
that arca race?
I think there's a chance he could be in contention
at the arca race later this year. That's very possible.
Excited to see that part of the journey.
Getting dragged for saying something reasonable
two weeks before everyone likes it just
means he said it two weeks before Dale Jr.
was said it. Ever wrong? Just early
sometimes. Yes.
Imagine the hype if Cletus could win
a arca race at like Bristol, you know
the big stadium, you know.
That'd be tough. I think he could win
he's running towel day at Arca in a few weeks
like he could win that race
legitimately. Yeah, I would pick
him but he's probably one of the top 5 or 6 favorites
to win that race. Objectively.
Just, just put, just get Cletus
into a, it's not venturing
on mortar gun. What is it now? Like nitro
motorsports? Nitro.
Get him into one of them somehow.
Like watching what he did at Daytona
in the arca race, he ran, he kept it clean
ran top 5 most
of the day, had issues out of his control
avoided the wrecks just fine
still was competing for a
top 10 at the end and honestly
given a better car I think could have easily
competed for the win. If the jack doesn't
break at Daytona he's probably in the top
5 on the last lap with a shot. Definitely.
And you know what, knowing him probably
goes for it better than anyone else in the
field probably would have. So yeah
I think a year
from now he'll probably be ready
to at least give it a shot.
I think he's going to be racing more and
I think he already said he has a bunch more arca races
lined up, more truck races
and they've already had the
contract and everything signed with RCR
so when the time comes
the O'Reilly ride is going to be there. It's not like
this is just always it's went caput
it's all done. No, like it's going to be there
so no I
I'm looking forward to seeing him actively
progress and for us to be like damn
he surprised me on that one so I can't
wait. Like I think we all would say
we were a little surprised by how well he ran
in the arca east race. I think we're all like oh dang
like that was really cool. So I'm looking forward to more of those moments
which I think we will
get those over the next few months. If you trust
the faulty graphics department he won.
Did you see that?
No, I didn't. Did they put up a win graphic?
In an interview it said race winner on the bottom.
I'm just like oh that's going to go
everywhere. Why would they do that?
Come on. I think it was just a flub.
Yeah, well who's who's
it wasn't Fox that was like flow or somebody
right like who's flow and then they
I think they put it on the 2B channel too
which was a really smart move by NASCAR SPARP.
Speaking of the cleatest effect
looking at the ratings this past weekend
O'Reilly got a 0.65
rating and a 1.16
million viewer number so
plus 12% from the same
race last year in ratings
plus 11%
in viewers and also I believe
up 4% from Darlington
which was the same weekend for
O'Reilly last year is this.
So
you know I
I get that maybe someone expected
to get higher because I will say I think the peak
at just under one and a half million
is kind of low
I'm surprised with but
it is a track that's not really that
you know popular with a modern
NASCAR fan yet
and I believe the finish was also starting
to go head to head with the start of one of the final four games
I'm not saying that's like a reason that should
be higher but
O'Reilly just keeps winning this year
the deal with CW is paying off
more and more each week with
that side of it at least
they're continuing to average well over a million
viewers
per race is really great I would say
I thought the viewership would be a little higher keep in mind
the truck race at Daytona
granted I believe that was on Fox but
it was it's network versus network
that race got almost 1.4
million viewers and Cletus was in that race
as well at least for five laps so
I guess I was a little surprised that the
O'Reilly race didn't come close to that mark
but you're also to your point comparing a Daytona
branded race to a Rocky
and branded race
Tony Stewart was in that race
I think that's what I was going to say is I think that like
the Cletus effect is real but I also think like
you know let's be honest he's got millions of subscribers
you know he gets over a million
views on pretty much every video he does
but realistically only about a hundred thousand
or so of those viewers actually watch
the NASCAR races live
his in-car stream had an average
viewership of like sixty thousand
pretty much the entire race fifty sixty thousand
so he's certainly moving the needle
especially in the digital space
I guess I'm a little surprised there weren't more network
TV viewers tuning in but I mean
hey plus ten eleven percent whatever you said
that's legit good for the O'Reilly
series that's big ones for sports in general
these days and
O'Reilly outside of when
F1's in America and like
the Indy 500
O'Reilly is usually the second most watched
racing series in America pretty definitively
at this point now so
just saying maybe
maybe that next TV deal maybe NASCAR
and the cup series
can have a few races more on the CW
maybe that way
go for it
I was gonna say I wish I knew what these numbers
compared to ESPN
back when they had sole position of the
nationwide series
those are yeah those numbers are hard to find
these days I've tried
I've tried to find a lot of them and outside of like
Daytona I really can't
think of a company that had a
very similar deal had the sole
sole position of the broadcasting of one series
I'd be very curious
I've noticed
I've noticed them say recently there'll be
some races where it's like best viewership
since like 2016 or whatever
and wasn't that around the time ESPN
and O'Reilly dropped O'Reilly
was it 2014 or 16?
2014 was their last year
okay I thought maybe
15 was their last year but you're right
thinking like okay that would indicate maybe ESPN did
get some pretty huge viewership even for
nationwide back in those days
you know what would be the real test
would be if you got
trucks on CW and you
saw what their ratings could be
like I would I'd be very
curious on that one because
like I get that they have the consistency
of FS1 most weeks
if it's not on big Fox
but Fox doesn't give a damn about the
truck series it's literally there to just
fill airtime
they don't care
just look at the amount of times they have
remote broadcasts like
50 miles on the track with Jamie Little
still in the booth
speaking to the truck series
Corey Heim gets sole possession
of fifth all time on the truck
wins list with his 25th career
win though not
uncontested completely
I mean Kayden Honeycutt put on a charge
at the end there
I think it's kind of like symbolic
of you know
Heim still showing he's the
he's the
what's the word like he's the example
but Honeycutt
reminded everybody I'm in Heim's
truck I'm coming my time's
coming
Yeah I definitely could
sense I'm sensing frustration from
Honeycutt at this point he's been close to a couple
wins already this year still hasn't gotten
it and that's I mean he knows
that truck won a dozen races
a season ago with
the guy who was out front here at Rocky Ham behind
the wheel so I think there's a chip on Honeycutt's shoulder
to nobody expects him to match
Corey Heim's record or even
even I think three or four wins
this year would be a successful season for
Honeycutt but it's got to
be frustrating watching you know the guy
you supposedly replaced still beating
you in different trucks each
week I mean they all said that
we're almost friendly fire with Tanner
today sort of in the outside
lane in the final laps
lap traffic sort of you know Honeycutt maybe does
get Heim if there's no lap
traffic there I'm not sure I mean lap
traffic I guess helped him close in as well
it's a little bit of this little bit of that but
I could see Honeycutt being frustrated for a
few reasons but Corey Heim guys you said
Jared he's fifth all time now stands
alone he only needs four more
wins to get to third all time
to be third solely
on his own would only be behind Kyle
on Hornaday Junior and so
the question I was on my show this week
can he do it this season
he's gonna be part time we
don't know how many starts he's gonna make this year
he's made three already
can he win four more races
this year
see that's the hard part for me is because I don't
know how many more races he's running
let's say he runs like nine or ten more
races which maybe I don't know if that
that would mean like slightly more than half
the season or about half the season
yes yes 100%
he gets at least four
I mean he won almost half the races last year
in a 25 race span why can't he do it
in ten yeah but I mean
but he's he was in a better truck last year
the consistent crew chief now he's like
split in time between different teams you made
against my pick before Darlington and he still
won yeah but what I was gonna say
was look at his wins this year have been
like I don't want to say they're not
asterisk like that he earned the wins but
like they've not been dominant like Darlington
tires at the end and made it happen
rocking him if lap traffic races a little
differently he probably loses rocking him
like so he does have two wins but they both
the nail biters I'd say like last lap
past type wins so
like I don't know is he gonna win
I'm a big Heim guy I'd say yes I think
he gets it this year I'm a big believer I think
he'll do it but there's a reasonable
argument why he won't I guess and that
is simply his trucks not quite as good
as last year you know it's not as stable
of a situation so I don't know but
due to credible obviously very very
very very talented
I'm looking at the stat lines
and it's just wild
leads the series and wins tied with
honeycutt and toppives
the only reason he doesn't have as many
top tens as honeycutt is because
he hasn't started as many races as honeycutt
4-3 on the top tens there
has the most laps
led in the series 2-12
to the next closest being
Ben Rhodes with 93
I think the real question to pose here
is should he be championship eligible
which I say
yes because
if you have enough points
to qualify I mean this waiver
stuff should have been left
in the playoff era like
the waiver was there for the full
season rule of the playoffs because
you could hypothetically
win and then miss 10 races
purposefully if you want to take time off or whatever
and still be chase eligible playoff
eligible if he
starts half the races
and is still fourth or fifth in points
yeah he should be allowed to be
in it and if he can get that full time
ride so be it I think this is a
needless rule
if they announced
tomorrow that
he's just going to run the rest of the schedule
I think
then you could give him the waiver and say you're fine
go ahead and get in there but
it's because of the fact that he's not committed
to the full season it's where NASCAR
thinks the issue
I think I'm with Jared I think it's a
rule that needs to be amended and probably
should have been amended with the format
change this off season but it wasn't
I'm not a big fan of changing the rules
making special exceptions mid-season like I
I still think it's a little silly
Matt Kenseth got a waiver in 2020
but that was the old format that was
back then I think a waiver may be made more
you know whatever it's an old different format
this is a new format I generally agree
but if you pointed your way in
I don't care how many races you're in
if you pointed your way in you deserve to be there
but that's not the rule so I don't want to
see them necessarily change the rule mid-season
but I would be fine with them changing it
at the start of next year everyone starts
over clean slate knows what to expect
I can plan accordingly
it makes it essentially
useless to look at the point standings
right now he's leading the points
but he's not he's not going to
like he's not going to win the champion
he's not going to run enough races as far as we know
to win the championship he might finish
like you said 6th, 7th, 8th maybe
but he's not going to win
I think for now it's funny to look at
a little annoying but at the end of the day
I mean this field is
razor thin right now
like when it comes to the talent pool
the ride pool
I mean he is a race and a half
over 11th
if track on would just go ahead
and just pull a trigger and say you know what
we're just going to put you in
we're going to put you in a truck the rest of the year
because you ain't got anything full time
I think he would be capable
of walking up this championship a few races
like into the truck chase
I mean would it last how early
would he have clinched the title last year
if it was this format I want to say
I don't know if it was fully two races
early or it was almost nearly two races
early but it was something like
like somebody ran through those on X
when the format was announced
an absurd lead he had
I think he had like over a hundred point lead
I was going to say I feel like he'd be
more than two I feel like he'd have locked it up
three or four races early honestly
it might it might have been I mean in this
format the way that the reset is
I'm fully expecting
in the next two or three years
somebody probably in the lower series
especially to lock up a championship
early like if somebody
is going to have a dominant season against
I can like I said the field
is really thin I mean Justin
Haley including
Heim is 10th in points
right now he has one top
10 all year um
Tyler Anchorum is technically
the 10th guy and Stuart
Friesen is currently
in the chase Ben Rhodes is
and he's not the great looking at
who's actually going to be running
for the championship it's probably honeycut
Riggs Chandler Smith
Majeski's in there
and then we can have the debate on like
Geo and Acus
the owner's points are where this gets
soup is actually much more competitive because
like Heim because he won
put the one truck top of the owner's
points ahead of the 11 and then but then
you have the niece 45 is
third in points
like that's like wow okay
and then you've got like the spire
seven is fourth you have
like the
Tricon 5 is 10th
they're top 10 in points owner's points
so like you mentioned what you said
Justin Haley is 10th in drivers
that truck is 16th
in owners that's about where they've been running
all year yeah yeah so I honestly
when it comes to trucks right now with how many
cup in different drivers and you know
all star free agents are rotating in that you
almost have to look at the owner's points to really get a good
feel for who's been running where
so it is weird it's a weird
situation right now that series
find itself in to
the a public
schedule for the rest of your trucks
chase goes Bristol, Kansas, Charlotte
Phoenix, Talladega, Martinsville
Homestead
I mean if the right
guy got hot
at the right times
it's not impossible
that Talladega could
wrap up the championship
and trucks do knows yeah I
mean I still think of honey cut
I think honey cut the fact that he
was on a race yet and is still tied for the leading
points just shows you how good
that truck like Scott Zippadeli
TriCon they have that thing dialed in
I think if anyone's going to lock it up early this year
to probably became a honey cut just like Cory
Heim would have last year
so we'll see
we'll see what happens
I just
why is he not in cup
or at least O'Reilly at this point money
yeah even O'Reilly I think
wasn't he going to go to Sam Hunt for some races
Harrison Burton showed up and was like
I have money for full time and
you know Dean Thompson's got money so
well I'd say I wish there was some
kind of system like I know the charter
system makes it freaking impossible
to do this now but we're like
the O'Reilly champion could have a year up
in cup as like a proto charter like a
37th one and like the truck
champion could have like an ensured
ride for O'Reilly just
you know it had a little more incentive to
winning those two but I just
that would be cool in a perfect
in a perfect world yeah that would be cool I don't know
maybe they could do something like that without
altering the model that's how
Jim Frans gets his cup team he can own
he just he has to have the O'Reilly
champion from the year before oh sugar
on the screen
wait he did he just replaced
Danny
that's funny I heard bang bang bang
on the door yes I thought
doesn't Indy next do that like there's
like a pipeline for the champion
like that that should I would love
for that to be a thing in NASCAR
yeah they can make that happen
I'd like I'd like that that'd be neat
all right
well it's been a short week
short when it comes
to racing so short
review reaction let's go to
the super chats on
this one let's do it
I think there were a few
before the show I'm
trying to see how many
this is the earliest one that shows up for
me is that from today
yes okay so
sloth nerd
says let's all thank
Emperor Hendrick and Dale Vader Jr
for executing order 66
on the Ford Council
Rise of the Chevy Empire so glad
I jumped a Toyota
yeah only one
Ford I think was on track
at Rockingham and
only one Ford is on the entry list
for Bristol in the O'Reilly
series and they did confirm
that today
we Josh was saying we can't
keep calling on Goodyear to bail us
out for the short track package tire where
can only get a race so far
we don't want to have one of these races being
worse than 2008's brickyard
400
saying on the show agree
keep working on the cars
secondly I think that having
preseason Thunder return is great
about that in the second half the more
on track time drivers have the better for
all of us but I'm not exactly sure
about the stages being inverted at Talladea
we will get to that in the second half don't worry about
that
and thirdly to be blunt Gleason McFarland
is just not ready for NASCAR
not approving him for Talladega was a smart call
although very late one
check we just got covered
yeah
Bailey saying I have a bold
move bold take I don't know why the hell
we did it
I have a bold take one he all can steal
on non-super speedways and road courses
traditional ovals
Kyle Busch will not score a top 10 for the rest
of the year
he doesn't have one yet I don't think right
I don't think so
at any track it's more realistic than
people want to think
yeah
and another bold prediction anytime
high in races and trucks he'll beat Honeycut
each time oh that would
if I were Honeycut I'd be pissed
if that happened
I don't think that's going to happen
to just feel like you're good
but you're not good enough to beat him
Nick saying thank you for making
my night at work better go 77 and 12
no problem we love we love being on here
and love seeing all y'all
Alex saying hey hey guys
sorry I haven't been around for a while
well good to see you back
how is everyone anyone else going to
Norfolk'sboro I'm pretty good
in Norfolk'sboro
yeah sorry unfortunately not
Calypso Figgie Earnhardt born

to Houston, Dallas and back home
stopped at Chetters and Fort Worth
the best chicken strips ever
also Eric I promise
there's less crowded places to live
y'all drive
crazy down there
I need to go
experience that and be part of it
I'm going to go visit Eric Easton this weekend
the roads in Dallas
and Houston for that matter do be pretty
crazy it's one of those situations
where I've grown up in it so I don't even really
bat an eye at it but when I go to other
like quote-unquote big cities and I see
like there can be traffic but the roads are smaller
there's no huge overpasses I'm always
like oh yeah I guess that is just a big city
Texas thing huh so yeah
it's kind of a culture shock for people who
don't live here
Danny I'm going to give this next one to you
there he goes sorry
if you smell

I like
what Peter sent you and me Danny

great to see you guys
I don't know about y'all but
with the warm weather and new tires
I have a bad feeling the race won't be
good on Sunday I sure hope
I'll be wrong also nice hair
Kurt Cobain
he did look like Kurt Cobain I was like who
he looks like someone on a stage I could just picture
hey wait
I got a new complaint
I'm not going to jump the gun and say the race
bad this weekend but
if you've been enjoying the cheese
greater races I wouldn't bank on that
I
like hold on I gotta put this one on smells like
gasoline spirit
luckily I think I have
a better wife than he did
um
anyone who's watching any of those documentaries about him
knows what I'm talking about
the rock needs a cup date
ASAP cup needs it too
what do you guys think
what are you going to take off
what are you going to replace spring phoenix
hmm
hmm
yeah maybe
um
like if I could do it without
two martinsville's I don't know
you take that don't you can't say that
don't take that even though I'm a criky bobby
I agree with that forget who said it
I forget who said it
I think I might have heard it on door bumper clear
they made a great point that you wait for the track
to age a little bit and then maybe the cup cars
would be on a good show here
this might be more spot on
people are saying spring darlington we've survived
on one darlington for a long time
we could probably be fine with that again
with just a set of 500
I don't I don't love where this conversation
is going honestly
it's very hard because you know it's got to be
something probably geographically
close to that area
I'll put you on blast Danny I think spring
bristol after sunday I think
we have a lot of fans not too worried about
what happens to spring bristol going for
I mean I'm hey I'm right there
but hey for once
we don't have our full forecast from
Jeff Bork this weekend but
I do generally know what the weather is going to be
like this weekend and
at least we don't have the usual spring
bristol weather this weekend
that's true that's good I just
I'm kind of at the point now
with bristol I've
been here before and I've kind of
I've liked it when it flared up for a bit in the
late 2010s and early 2020s
and now with the next gen it's back to where it was
for me before
where I'm kind of just ready to be like screw it
guys like can we just go back to what it was
pre-2007 I know it's not going to be
one for one perfect but
like like reconfigure it again
reconfigure it back to where it was like
SMI has has righted wrongs
before can we please make this
the next big symbolic gesture
make the thing asphalt again for all I care
honestly if you can't fix
the racing at this point because it's all
three series now that aren't good at it like
let's not pretend that O'Reilly and trucks is going
to be good like they're going to be
mediocre races the fall
race is the only one anyone gets excited for
anymore either put dirt on it
or make it how it was before or make it asphalt
that's it for me
best I can do 40 degree banking
many many Atlanta
best I can do it
40 degree half mile
would be nuts
you have to run the caution laps on the apron
you would you probably would
how would that lap work you basically got to
ramp yourself and then use the four momentum
dude
the G's that they would
sustain probably going around
that or higher would be insane
that's it
basically race like a
like a half pipe for skateboards
all right
I think where did we stop
I think we can do probably one more if you want
let's do this one
official
J Fendi almost an official Jedi
says
Clippy
says best bi-week of my life
racked
4,000 miles to see a k-pop
NMIXX
concert
I'm not that attuned to that side of it
my niece
and nephew are on
the family but I'm not
in Canada and also
caught the Artemis 2 launch
in Florida the same week
also saw a reddix 500
win car on the way back home
damn sweet very fun salute
to you from a midwesterner because we're known
for driving that is good
on you that's amazing
all right that'll do it for an extended
super chat stage break
with the rest of them at the end of the show
just like real stage breaks
yeah
yeah don't remind me
but we won't be taking as long
because we don't have really that bad of
weather but we do have a little bit of
a lightning round
that graphic goes
always too fast so people see me making a
weird like
face
so first off of course we have the
podcast channel that we re-upload
different things we actually have the full
15 minute
NASCAR wifely podcast segment
on the channel for y'all to see
so if you haven't seen it already subscribe
you would have if you had subscribed
we're actually 98 away on that channel
from hitting 1k so that's pretty cool too
heck yeah
we might need to do something
on there as like a celebration
at some point maybe like do a simulcast
so you can watch it on both channels
or something one night
also I want to thank you
for voting for my mom we will find out the
results on Friday
for that side of it last that we got
the update she was 8th before
last week's podcast
so we had that a big push on twitter
big push on youtube
big push during post-race stream so fingers crossed
we're going to run
into a little pickle of whether or not we have to
move the stream or not because that game is on a
Wednesday night and if I'm able to make
it I would like to if it happens
it's for a good reason
we made a valiant effort everyone
best of luck
going to the nascar side
of things cbs sports
will be merging with tnt
sports in quarter three if all goes
accordingly I'm assuming that
the channel probably won't change this production
company I would assume
I've lost track of all these
media mergers at this point
can't can't be
any worse than tnt's
production to start last year that's for sure
nascar full speed
will be leaving netflix may 7
so if you haven't seen the first two seasons
of it already
you you have a month
to see it
nascar has hired its first director
of ai this is more for like ai
strategies this is not to just you know
go on whatever's replacing the saura app
and just make random crap
just I had to I
had to say it because if I didn't say it
beforehand or right away people
be like oh now we're going to see
more fox sport style ai
slop and it's like no it's not the same thing
I'm not saying I support it but it's a different
thing altogether
probably not going to be popular either way
the chimera will come back by the way
and means it's more than likely going to
stay the chevrolet body
for the cup series
and then next week
on april 15th we'll be
on runway
Eric's channel
and we'll be joined by grant
from auto racing analytics as our
first full
show guest of the year I have to
technically we had our first guest
last week to open the show
so that should be
a lot of fun as well but that is
the lightning round
there we go again
so fast
there were
also some
lines from this past week I don't know
if we have a face or some
there's no sound effect for this
wow
spooked Danny over there
NASCAR is taking some
swings at the super speedway
racing and trying to
either improve it or at least this year
from the sounds of it kind of put more band aids on it
let's start this year
for talladega and more than likely
also Daytona and the second talladega race
there's no specific
lengths to the stages given but it
sounds like the opening
stage will be much longer and the
final two stages will be
short enough to complete a full
fuel run without
at least hypothetically having
to fuel save during
them what are your guys
take some more than likely it being a hundred
or maybe even more than 100 lap
opening stage at talladega this year
I mean I'm open to trying
I think at the end of the day
you're going to see a lot of fuel saving in
that first stage you know if they have to make
one or I guess probably just one green flag
pit stop potentially in that sequence
but I'm all for you know second half
for the race if they're able to go more flat
out what I'm afraid we'll see
and you know every race is a little different
cars evolved a little tracks are changing
all constantly weather changes all
I'm worried what people will see is oh yeah
that's right this car sucks at super
speedways and it's going to be gridlock
nobody can make a move
hopefully I'm proven wrong we've seen moments
like there was enough
disruption in the packet summer
Daytona last year that we
saw that crazy three wide finish
third lane came out of nowhere and it was like whoa
like so I'm not saying that we can't have
good racing with this car package at this
type of track but
it's not easy it's not
easy to get to that point so I'm worried that
you know we'll go from one problem to another
but that's why not to get ahead of ourselves
excited to hear NASCAR is bringing back off
season testing we'll try some
different aero horsepower
stuff to try and improve the actual racing
product at super speedways
for next year and beyond that's very
encouraging but for now I think I saw
people in the chat saying it this is a
bandaid hopefully makes a positive
difference but time will tell
I fall into
the camp that
I see a lot of people saying it in our
in our chat no stage yellows
I'm fine with stages
I like the purpose of stages
for points purposes
but stage yellows
just disrupt the natural
flow of a race if
they're gonna crash
and cause a caution to come out
naturally because they're fighting to get
those stage points then so be it
that's the natural
part of the race in my opinion that's a natural yellow
developed because of the goal
of getting stage points essentially
if that happens so be it but
I don't know I think
I think I'd be completely fine
with just stages
happening then we just keep the race flowing
you know you get your points when we reach a certain lap
I've been I've been on that train for pretty
much every track I'll say it definitely
is a bandaid
and and I get the idea
that
you know if it's like
144 44 as the stage
breakdown let's just say
that you probably get
a majority of the commercials out of the way early
maybe you have a wreck and you can get some out of the way
under commercial under caution too
and then have
the best racing for the longest amount of
time at the end of the race
that might be the thinking of it
if Fox doesn't go to commercial with six to go again
or whatever it was
I'm not letting that go man
that was bad
but
NASCAR has
basically neglected the super speedway
package for Daytona and Talladega
for five years now
they've really not touched it too much outside
of flaps to keep the cars on the ground
which is a good change don't get me wrong
strictly safety changes nothing to really change the racing though
and
I think that now
that in general the short track
racing has gotten a little bit better at least better
enough that people aren't actively
like falling asleep during
the races the entire time
we'll see about Bristol I am genuinely worried
about this specific
you're right
but they've raised horsepower to a lot of places
they've hit a lot of things fans have been talking about
this is next up seemingly on the docket
I don't see really
how this is going to change much
I mean maybe
they might not fuel save as much
if it's a 100 lap green flag run
and it gets super spread out or something like that
but this to me is just
let's make the racing the best
that we can do at the end that way when the most
people are watching they're not bored out of their minds
the preseason testing
that's what I'm excited for
preseason
it's not just a nostalgia trip it's this is needed
we need
a lot of on track time to get
packages right to get
people attuned to their teammates
and to their teams right
before the biggest race of the year this isn't like
the Indy car where our biggest
their biggest race of the year is
a few months into the season
and now they have actually consistency early in the year
so they can build that stuff up
and then they still build it up
in the middle of the year
our first race is the biggest of the year
we need to nail this
every year it needs to be a banger
every year when you look back
from
basically when Fox got on the scene
just pure racing product take all the stuff
and things like that away just from pure racing product
if you looked from about
2001 to I would say
2012
some of the worst races people think of
are the rained out races which generally
weren't that bad
and maybe the tandem races if some people
didn't like them they were bangers every year
whether it be gen 4 or
COT and it's just been hit or miss
ever since like we need the
biggest race of the year to be awesome
we need a lot of build up to it
it was there in 2022
when they did preseason thunder
and it was awesome there was like 5,000 people
just in the fan zone alone
there were people all over the grand stands
there was a ton of hype around it
and I really do believe that that led into
how good speed weeks performed
in February that year
I believe it was part of it at least
so I absolutely love this
change I think this should be a permanent fixture
yeah I mean I like it
from an entertainment building hype
it certainly can't do any harm in that regard
but more importantly it is just
like you said earlier they've neglected
the drafting package more or less for 5 years
they've improved the short track stuff
they've added the horsepower
next is super speed ways
for all the reasons you said you need Daytona
to be fun year in year out
and so I'm just excited to see
what adjustments what tweaks they can make
they've seen and I know Atlanta
is a different layout than Daytona
they guys can be hard to replicate that
but they've seen that hey
we can get good drafting style racing
in the next-gen era
is there a way they can replicate a form
of that at Daytona Talladega
that they're comfortable with with speeds and stuff
we'll see but that's the part that I'm most excited about
is that they're actually going to work on the package
for the first time in quite some time
I mean I
if they do two or three days of testing
and
test a bunch of different things from
power changes
basically plate changes
to drag changes
I think they can probably nail something
especially since a lot of the drivers have been vocal
about the same things
it's not like they're starting from scratch here on this
we just
handling needs to matter
in the sense that we need to spread the pack out
a little bit
and
you know
I don't know if they'll nail it right off the bat
but it can't be any worse than what we got now
that's how I feel
yeah
all right well
I know it's early in the show for this but y'all
y'all have some fun
it's never too early for fun Jared chat do you want to
have some fun
we're talking about to be in the chat right now we need to save the chat from
themselves
I like a little bit of fun
fun is very good
we're having fun
let's speed
let's have a little fun with this thing then
predictions
so each of us will make two NASCAR motorsports
or show related predictions
we're going to keep track of them each week in our accountability session
and we'll try and be concise
but we can play fast and loose with it
so it is what it is
Eric said
Corey LaJoy would be the best finishing ram at the rock
I am red hot right now
on of these predictions
it's kind of scary how good you are this early
it's like time levels of good
I said the winner of both
Rockingham races would pass
Tech this year
fourth place didn't
dude it was taking a while for that to come out
I was like oh shit
uh oh please god
Danny
said Clears McFarland would not
complete 50 laps at Rockingham
I was bold you know can't blame me for trying
give you credit
Eric with a commanding
61.54%
lead I am 44.4444
repeating I know that's going to be a meme
and Danny is
33.333
repeating percent
so honestly decent percentages and then Eric's is just unnatural
all time
I'm still at 37.2
with the lead Eric at 33.79
Danny at 32.39
so if we have Eric
you lead us off
I'll start
with this one because I'm afraid somebody might take it
we had this conversation earlier
I predicted I'm going to put it on paper
put it in writing set it in stone
Corey Haim will finish
this season third all time
in truck series wins
that's a good one
very nice
alright I don't know if there's a concise way
necessarily to
say yes or no to this
rather it's just that you'll know it when you see it kind of thing
the cup race at Bristol will not
be a tire lottery in any way
like there might be flat tires at some point
it's not going to be
pretty obvious what or not it is
we know what you're saying
and I think you're probably
you're saying it won't be a cheese grater race
pretty much
if Larry Mack pulls out a cheese grater though
I think you lose this prediction
here's what it used to be
but that would be
the definitive way
this is what I got here
we've got this tire here in the booth
now
now go to good as a road ranger
yeah
use this app
are you using it yet
oh man
okay
this one
isn't necessarily a layup but I do feel like
it will probably happen
Toyota will account for the most laps
led on Sunday
in the 500
like
any combination of Toyota
drivers will be the most laps
led together
see I could see that
but I'm going to go
with something that could still also be true
like my prediction
and your prediction could both come true Danny
but it sounds opposite
my second prediction is that Kyle Larson
in a Chevy leads the most laps
on Sunday
that's a good one
I like those class
that is very true that they could both still
because like Larson could lead like
150 laps and be the most
then like 5 Toyota drivers
account for the rest of those laps led
exactly exactly so we'll see
if we both get that right we should get double points
Jared
that would be like me thread right down the middle
um
Corey Day
will have 2 or more
wins this year in the O'Reilly series
I think that he's going to come on strong
at the end of the season
solid
Knoxville Mayor
Glenn Jacobs also known
as Kane and WWE
will say
Go Vols in his command
as Sunday's grand marshal
I like these
ones because it's like everybody's going to be watching
that one and I'm going to have it in my
my chat
for my post-race stream because I always have it up before the race
everyone's going to go Danny's right
or Danny's wrong
I see it every week we have predictions
at first I was going to
make a prediction that he
and Josh Dobbs would be there
because I've seen something earlier in the week that
that Glenn had shared
like I know me and Josh Dobbs would be rooting for
in regards to that Tennessee truck
that's in the race on Friday but then I've seen
it was later announced hey they are going to be there
Josh Dobbs is going to be the honorary
starter and then
Glenn Jacobs is the grand marshal
so both of those two
are going to be at Bristol this weekend
see an interesting prediction
would be if the pastor not made
comments about
Artemis or not
that's if he's even on TV
he's one of the people that may not even make it
into anything with a micro-run
in front of him too
it's teed and Glenn it's Fox
so they'll probably mess it up but it's teed up
perfectly you got
you got people going up to the moon
you got the pastor not on your
broadcast
and they're probably going to be like
we're going to talk about this person that
Michael who'd you find
I found daddy die down here guys
he's still lurking around
ask her a prayer that we can talk about him
he is a free agent
oh man
alright those are our predictions
will probably be really right or really wrong
and no one between on them
but it's now time for you guys
to hide the chat
because it's time for
that hide your wife
that's a throwback
unless we would
hide our wives after a little bit
so
Eric and Danny are tied at 38
all when it comes to random
driver of the week
Danny got on the board for the first time in a while
with Nelson P.K. Jr
we were way off
but Eric
we had a
a lot of the other random driver from last week
Eric can you see this on screen
no I did not
oh
we had him because
Danny died didn't punch him yet
anyway Eric had
three of the last five with Tony Stewart
we had Sweet and Natalie Decker
and I got y'all on Speedy Thompson
gosh no one's ever heard of that man
Jared that's a made up character
from the video games
I think that wasn't that that movie
about that anyway
that's one to get
that's one to characters in cars ain't it
I was thinking speed racer
Speedy Thompson that's his actual government name
alright this random driver
is a native of Houston Texas
David Starr
David Starr
I'm sorry
you can't do that
that's my hometown Jared
I was thinking there were other drivers from there
I don't think I mean
Brendan Poole kind of
I'm not going to say him at this point
I don't want to know
he is correct
oh my god
he drove the Whataburger car
of course I'm gonna know where he's from
I mean that's where he currently lives in Frisco
I did know that actually
okay hi chat
we're back already
I didn't even get to make a figure
and heart joke yet
I'm sorry Jared
that was tough but you can't
sorry that's tough but like if I was doing this
if I gave a Rockford Illinois clue
there's like what a couple names I'm sure
maybe we jumped like that's two that you can't give that one away too
Chad Canals
yeah you take Canals is where's Danica
from isn't she from near there
I feel like we're out in another one
we're getting way too fast
I know I do you have another one
do you have like a backup
I'm putting on the spot here
now I feel bad
now you made it shorter
I could let that one slip through the cracks
the point was there for the taking
I had to grab it
see this is why people need to tune in every week because it might be really good
or it might be like this
see I was thinking let's make it so
freaking obvious
you'd guess somebody else
I'm actually trying to think who else is from Houston
the Lobonies are from Corpus Christi
Bushers from Prosper
I'm not saying shit
that's tough
sorry guys
how many times has he done this at this point Danny
it's like the second
or third time he's done this
I should go get my whataburger hat
to commemorate this
right
I need to look back and make a compilation
of every time we've had one or less clues
for the random driver
I legit didn't know if you just played the correct
sound to be funny or not there
you know what A.J. Foyt
I think he is from Houston I could have guessed A.J. Foyt
so yeah there was a chance I would have gotten it wrong
alright
sorry guys I feel bad
I actually feel bad I don't even feel excited
about that one I'm sorry
wait did you have some other fun clues
what else did you have about him
what are the fun facts about David Star
when he wrecked Noah Gregson out of a win
no I had
that he started in racing as a picker
member at the age of 14
so there's that
um
let's see
the fact that none of us have tweeted about him
that's a little surprising
let's see
first race is at 16
in street stocks
let's see
a lot of different statistical ones
he ran a lot of different numbers
has he when did he last race
he hasn't raced this year has he
I don't think he's raced this year
I got last year in like what 22 23
something like that
I think he ran some O'Reilly last
like you know Xfinity last year
oh I do have his last cup start was last year
and he did DNQ from the O'Reilly race this year
oh okay well it's been more racing than I thought
you drove for Randy Moss
I feel like there's a lot of these drivers on this list
have ended up driving for Randy Moss at some point
I should actually like
what was his race last year like probably the 66 I'd say
I think so
but yeah with Randy he's
straight cash homie
and he was the first driver
for the cup series team
Levine family racing
at Texas I believe
I want to say it was like 2011 or 12
it was my COT
yeah it would be it was that boxy like red
and blue and yellow 95
with with the
whoever the sponsor was on the side of it
to a little bit the way that like Kyle Busch
used to have
yeah I'll put that one down there
those are some good fun facts sorry chat
see I love like
it feels bad about it and I'm like
this is funny as hell to me
yeah just just goes to
show you how how
how well I know my Texas drivers
there's not that there's not
that many of them that made it big so
yeah
let's go to Bristol baby
so
there is a new tire compound
for the cup series
it's gonna be less temperature
sensitive so
we'll see
the only real difference
when it comes to the field this weekend is that Chad
Fincham will be in the 66 for garage
66
as for the O'Reilly side of things
there will only be one forward in the field
the 5 of
J.J. Yaley
Connor Zillich
at this point yeah
Connor Zillich will be in the 1
for J.R.M.
the 9 will be Carson Quaple
Jordan Anderson gets
Raja in the 32 this weekend
and Kyle Larson
for J.R.M.
I feel like I already know who to put in as a first pick on that side of it
the truck series is actually
pretty damn stacked this weekend
it's like 7 cup guys this weekend
yeah it's leech central
for some stacked for others
Corey Haim will be in the 1 truck
Ricky Stenhouse in the 4 for Nice
Chase Briscoe in the 5
TriCon truck
Kyle Busch in the 7 for Spire
Chastain in the 45 for Nice
C-bell with Helmar Friesen
in the 62
Suarez in the 71
for Spire and Carson
Hosevar the Hurricane
in the 77
truck
as for the races this weekend
we have the Tennessee Army National Guard
250 on Friday night
for the truck series
250 lap 65-65
120 is the breakdown
7.30 p.m. Eastern time start
on FS1 and Fox 1
Chandler Smith
the defending winner on that one
the suburban propane 300
will be the O'Reilly Race
300 laps 85-85
and I believe
130 is that adds up
I believe that adds up I'm not mathin right now
also a 7.30
also a 7.30
Eastern time start on the CW
and P-R
Kyle Larson the defending winner of that one
and then the Food City 500
125 125 250
the breakdown 3 p.m. Eastern time
on FS1 and Fox 1
PRN also gets the radio side
with Sirius
Kyle Larson also the defending winner of that one
with a pretty good shot to
break that endless streak
One note and you may have mentioned I might have tuned it out
JLR says
Carson Ferguson also making his first truck start
I believe for Ram
if I'm not mistaken
he was the race for the seat runner up
so he gets this like one off start
I don't know if this is his only start
I think they talked about running him at like Martinsville
or something instead somehow they ended up on Bristol
so good luck to him
weekend weather this weekend
our friend Jeff Bork meteorologist
he actually had a deaf in the family this week
so didn't get the full
full weekly report from him this week
but basically
we're affecting dry
conditions highs in the 80s
maybe the
maybe it can be weird Tennessee
when it gets hot and something might pop up
but I'm not expecting too much this weekend
it's going to be a real good weather
this weekend
pick points
Eric has kept the lead with
134 over the chat
11 over me and 12 over Danny
so all of us actually
got closer
I thought I was going to rise more next
I did get the truck win of Heim
I think you finished last in the O'Reilly
race though
because I had love yeah he was good
and he finished terrible so that'll do it
did the most wins combined
for all of us right now
he's got four
one cup two O'Reilly
and one truck
I'm the only one without a cup win
Danny you must be just like checkers or wreckers
I guess that's why you're down in the rankings
Ricky Bobby you're at a first
or your last
well Danny
you are going to kick us off
on the predictions for who wins
the truck series
race this weekend so who do you have
winning trucks
this truck was so hard because
we got so many guys in it
but there's also so many
just like good guys
in the truck series field like a Heim
like a Lane Riggs and
it definitely looks like the chat is leaning towards 34 right now
but I'm
I probably won't take the 34 away from him
I just feel like
I'd be dumb to not say Kyle Busch in a
truck race at Bristol so I'm going to go Kyle Busch
it's a valid choice
well I'm going to stick
with him because it works every time for me
and it is Heim time
going Corey Heim
yeah I feel like I might regret not
taking in but
I'll go Kyle Busch
he is in the one again this week same
as last week Heim chat
I guess they're going Riggs
yeah I think they're going Lane
the most consistent I've seen from them
I'm a little surprised didn't Chandler
Smith win this race last year
they're going with his teammate
let a lot of laps
yeah
well
I got to think about this for a moment
can you spare me one second
I think we can
I'm going to let Shuggs out he seems like he's ready to go back out of the office
come on
I
I'm also so
I think Chandler I had Chandler
as my number two I'm going to stick with it
I'll take Chandler Smith
alright well let's
go on into the O'Reilly side
of things who wins the O'Reilly
race
I'm going to double Kyle and go Kyle Arson
couldn't have seen that one coming
monkey
a monkey
then I'm going to go with the only guy that actually was in
a zip code that wasn't the rest of the field last year
I'll go all guy
also good pick chat we got
I think the chat is important
this is really important
I got a pivot now
this is so important
I'm seeing a lot for Figgy
Larson and all guy were my top two picks
so if we have improving it before
like we will give you the
meme pick if you guys
Aaron Hart we will put up the name figure
of no number there beside it because that's what you chose
well just put a random meme
I've seen some for day but I think they're leaning
towards the one which this week
is Zillich
Zillich
I think they're serious on the one now
they'll take Zilly
get silly for Zilly boys
I
oh man
I'm going to take
for the second week in a row
I was a little unimpressed with his brunette
Rocky ham but he's in the nine this week
I will go Carson quaple
and that car looks beautiful
by the way that high rock vodka car
with the day glow orange
popping on it looks amazing
it does and I didn't realize
I'm used to Bristol spring being day race
I didn't realize this is a night race for them
that's going to look incredible under the lights
so next
day though who's going to suck Danny
Daniel Suarez
his average finish at Bristol is atrocious
I might have actually picked him for my
truck race winner
but I'm going to pick this guy to suck
in this race just because I don't have any faith
Kyle Busch
yeah Kyle Busch is a trendy
suck pick just because like at Bristol
anything outside of the top 10 you're
scratching your head like what went wrong
and I just feel like we never would have thought
I'd say today where he sucks at that track
I feel like we've been asking what went wrong
with Kyle Busch in the eight quite a bit
the past few weeks so I agree with everyone
I think Bush has two years
so I feel like me being
at his current last win
is like I was in a moment that was
like a turning point in Asgard history
because ever since then man he has been
awful
blue Jimmy put
fox in the chat
I think they might be going with me
I've seen a lot of eights
yeah I think it's Bush
someone's already put their underdog pick in
Zane
I like how y'all are picking Kyle Busch
and I'm picking the car he's more likely to go into
next year
Derek did you give yours
yeah I said Bush I know that's not original
but it's at this point
so Dark Horse or Underdog
I guess he's still
Dark Horse here he has
one here before but I'll go Chris Buscher
okay I'll go Hurricane
He was
I might regret it in the
win picks depending on what way it goes
but he was bad fast
last year top three
and I think in the fall I think 11th
and spring
well in the spring he should have probably finished
second or third I mean he was right up there with Hamlin and Larson
all race and this at the end
I think the team had like huge malfunction
in the pits that put him in 11th
I think we'll get a top five this weekend
if this was a high
tire wear race I would say Brad keselowski
but because
it's probably not going to be that's my
guess right now nobody really knows
I think I have to agree host of ours
the clear clear cut
Dark Horse sleeper
and did the chat have chats going to
praise I think they're going pre so I thought about
saying as well it's a good pick
I think that's a really good one
alright moment we've all been waiting
for who is going to win
the cup race Danny
who you got
been waiting on a while to say this
and I have the first pick so I'm very confident
if I'm going to go up this guy
Ty Gibbs
Wow
first off the board
it's bold but I
can see especially with how good that team is this year
he was fourth on my list
I thought it's time
he's had the momentum on his side
and it's a track where he can get it done
if you leave him on the board I got taken Kyle Larson
I think he can break the streak this week
and a chat wanted him so
have it again
I'll be real
at first I had Denny
as like I had Denny and Larson
as like 1a1b and I'm like I'll just pick
which one when we get there
and I had originally had like Hamlin
in that corner
but I'll go with Larson
I might regret it but I'll go with Larson
chat we'll take Hamlin
yeah I'm definitely seeing that
well
I think we all kind of are on the same page here
because I had all my Gibbs, Larson and Hamlin
not in that order but I had them in my top four picks
so the only one left
on my mini Bristol Mount Rushmore
is Krista for Bell
he's got a good average
and a share so that's a good one
yeah he feels like a safer pick
we did win the night race
that really helped me last year
secure that championship towards the end of the year
that really helped me
hopefully Ty don't let me down
but he's been on a run here lately
if there's any time to do it
it's got to be now
he's been
really damn good this year
yeah
I think that was the first time I
coughed into the mic without muting myself
all show
maybe we'll go the whole show next week
um
let's go and finish up with the Super Chat
cool down lap
let's do it
we left off right about
here
Jake's
Jake's 98
Arka, talent is here somewhere
talent is here in the nitro motor
sports car then that's about it
Chris John says
as a big big fan and defender of Cleetus
I agree with the decision to not
approve him for Talladega
I am bummed but it was 100% the right call
from wasn't in a day
very true
poetic
NAP erasing says
NASCAR on CBS returns in
2027 return merger
one could only hope but I
doubt we're going to get it on big CBS
we'll end up on CBS
we'll show you a summer time that would be better than NASCAR on CBS
we'll be on
we'll be on Paramount Plus
oh god
oh god
hashtag
rowdy to the 48
and then Cleetus to the 48
isn't a CBS center the same parent
companies like Nickelodeon could we
get a Nickelodeon spin off like
NASCAR broadcast
SpongeBob calls the Daytona 500
well we have like a NASCAR
show on Nickelodeon and it
conveniently ends when the new
AMC show about NASCAR starts
Jonathan says hey Jarrett Eric
and Danny go blue and go 11
might be a good week for you
a really good week
Twin Spinner as a Cleetus fan
I'm not happy that NASCAR made
the right decision but
because I really wanted to see him run Daga
but they did make the right
decision respect
respect
does Cleetus have a talent
to run a memorial in the middle of Texas
turn four no
but the call to not let
him in Daga is also right
run more laps Cleetus
that's what we should have said last week
the goal for Cleetus is to not have this
made
after the race so yeah mission
accomplished there good point
for what is worth
Chris Wright is back in truck series
trying to improve
it has been if he
does not have
below the apron
hope to still see Cleetus
after racing the Daytona
after racing the Daytona 500
one day
racing Daytona 500 one day
I don't want him to just
check the box and never see him
in NASCAR I want him
around
kind of like you know
Elio Castroneveth ran the 500 one day
will never see him again most likely
and I would
I was even saying in my video that like
if you want to just be a super speedway ringer
with beard if he was good enough to do it
that'd be cool like Brendan Gaughan
was at the end of his career exactly
yeah
see Vikings all day
I think not approving Cleetus
for Daga was the right call he brings
eyes to the sport but he's not ready
I find his fans overbearing but his haters
intolerable had to mute
a few
timelines
accurate
and Martin fans as Kyle
Petty is a hypocrite he started in
cup without much experience no O'Reilly
no trucks just a name
so he shouldn't be pointing any fingers
at Cleetus that said
I'm glad they denied Cleetus for Daga
yeah
times have changed a bit but yeah
I mean I get that I get
they still they still made
Kyle Petty run an RCRA race at Daytona
so I could run
other stuff but yeah
that's what you're saying
gonna carry my case of beer
in Bristol every night this weekend
in my
is it shitty backpacker
that is an actual thing it's like
a cooler brand
meant to impersonate or make fun of Yeti
gonna raise hell
gonna raise hell praise Dale
and give it
a little stone cold hell yeah
this weekend I think I have that still
so
do I have it here
I said give me a hell yeah
thinking of which I think
probably Wallace is running a WrestleMania
car this weekend at Bristol I'm not sure
I think you're right I think it's either this weekend
or some other upcoming race but yeah
WrestleMania is next weekend so I think
it's gotta be this weekend he runs it
makes sense
Ford is the Hawaiian bird who went extinct
it's not real on Instagram so you should know what I'm talking
about now yeah
let's see Scott I said
this on the post race truck stream
but I'll say it again if Ross Chastain
can get a waiver then Hyme
should get one too because that's right because Ross
did get one in 2019 if he will
if they will make it work he will go
full-time then I could see
them doing it just like they did
if Ross that year I don't even remember
the Ross situation was it just he was not
full time so he start he was
okay 2019 he was supposed to be
in the Chip Ganassi car in the
Xfinity series then a DC solar
situation happened that deal went away
so he started off running for JD
motorsports and then he got better
opportunities to go run nice
equipment he did a few part-time stars and they said
hey can he just come run full-time
and then they granted him the waiver to go
full-time in the truck series
I think you know and then that press
said if TriCon comes out tomorrow and says
hey Hyme's gonna run the whole season then
yeah I guess that press has been set and
NASCAR might change the rule mid-season is what it is
Jeffrey
says Cori Day to the 48 and all guy
retires Bowman to the 7
got it all planned
I'd take it Bowman
and Kyle Busch can have a boxing match
for the 7 I bolt bring
Figgy home
like how like ominous that sounds
Alex my bold prediction is that
Redick will get at least 10 wins
this season I even have
a $10 bet with a friend of mine
on that now I felt
bold saying 7
before the
chase starts I don't know about 10
this year
Jeffrey King left 3 in a row here also
Bristol the 11-20 and 5 are
our favorites tires
this is Rockingham for
places spring Darlington
and Texas needs a
repave progressive banking
maybe
Ryan it is says
40 degree Bristol is a fair
ground wall of death
Gavin
me and my dad are trying to
decide our next race to go to
should we go to Bristol Darlington or
Atlanta I live near Atlanta Atlanta
100% Atlanta that's the one
you're gonna be guaranteed the best racing at
definitely go to Atlanta if you've never
been to Bristol go ahead and go this weekend
yeah I agree I agree with exactly
what Danny said
Steven saying Bristol can
be fixed by going to 33 degree
banking with no progressive banking
bullshit leave it concrete
move springs date to early
to mid-May and move the fall
date back to August summer heat
Bristol and higher temps
work better I'm just saying this as
the as the resident Tennessee
football fan you got to move it away from
Tennessee football season you can't conflict the people
of East Tennessee with which event to go through
when you what sucks is the year before
they moved it we were there in 2019
and it was like the biggest crowd
they'd had since they used to do those
most high Bristol race I had seen
since yeah probably like
2009-2010 when I first started
going it was electric
at that race and
then they moved it it was like
and that was and I get you know COVID didn't help
with that move and it's had its moments
in the sun you know what I was
looking iffy for those weekends years prior
2019 got a lucky break it was like the perfect
weekend of NASCAR racing
I know it's good for the chase
and all and they could probably move another track
in there that could fit it but it's like
can you imagine a run
to the three race run to the chase
and it's like Watkins Glen
Bristol
Daytona
three different races
that you can get to where different guys can
gain points wild
cards if you will crazy moments
all that stuff because I feel like
the big thing with the playoff schedule
is that you had the elimination races
and they really figured out the right races
to have with it but now that it's the chase
you can move it around and do different
things with it
I'm all for moving it back to August
I think you'd probably get more people there
because again they wouldn't have the local
head-to-head with Tennessee football
which is going to happen no matter what
and you'd probably
have more people watching on TV because there is less
going on a Saturday night
in August TV wise and sports wise
than late September
so yeah I'm all for it man
what if we did single file
restarts at Dega
they probably
just find different ways to go three wide
and fuel save
that's probably what they would do
the Martinsville race two weeks ago
had an average of 4.9
green flag passes a lap which is down
from 7.2
from last year's spring race
damn I'm surprised it was even that high
that sounds like a lot
Steven says
I've said for years and we'll continue to say
if we have to
if we have to have stages let's just do
two stages at all tracks race to halfway
I mean I'd be
maybe
Napa saying Sunday on Fox
instead of NASCAR paid programming
it does feel like that sometimes
but the thing is
I'm not blaming Fox
NASCAR signed the deal
they signed up for it
granted the one that negotiated the deal is gone now
but the whole other conversation
Gavin says
I would love to see the trucks exclusively on prime
I'd love to see them anywhere about Fox
but I do like
them having an exclusive broadcast partner
I would rather it be someone besides
Fox too
on PBS
I'll take it
I'll take it
except that the broadcast gets cut off
every time the government shuts down
Kevin
says real quick
is there going to be a mid-season bracket
challenge again this season yes there will be
same as last year although
the way the seeding works is a little different
a little more simple if I recall
Yup
Vamboni sports
the show guys
driving the Zamboni
to
tonight
oh okay I did
then
getting paid to go on a three day fishing trip
at one of the best rivers in the world
good week awesome man
yeah
you're getting paid to go on a fishing trip
I'm paying somebody to take me fishing
on like fork on Friday
Stephen says forward hurting forward
not developing drivers like
Chevy and Toyota have
they just sign those that leave
O'Reilly's team
slash younger drivers are needed
I gotta say but the whole forward thing
it is kind of exposing the
the O'Reilly series really has no
functional
importance for the manufacturers
outside of development like
cup it's the main show
the main cars they want to put out there
trucks they sell more trucks really
they don't have anything else these days
yeah I hate saying it
because I disagree with it completely
but it's making
the argument to make
the O'Reilly series an SUV series
or an electric series more viable
and I hate it
well it's not going to be an electric series
but I'm with you like the body style could
dramatically I don't think
I think that ship has sailed for at least
another decade plus but
I mean changing the body style
it doesn't really because you're I mean
the O'Reilly series doesn't really have
it doesn't really have its own distinct identity
at this point I think among hard
core fans it's like oh this is sort of old
school you know there's no spec
chassis there's no spec motors it still feels
like the cars are hanging out loose you know
like it's old school I guess but that
but only the hard core fans really see
that so I don't really know what it is
it is a development series I guess
at its core still that's all it really is
it's made me feel like
you know it's set to me it's set in stone
that
the O'Reilly series as we love it
right now I think it's days are numbered
and I don't like that but it's just
it just feels
like it's that way I mean Ford basically
has washed their hands of the series for
this year and we don't know like maybe
Penske will come back into it next
year but there's been no news on that
for a while I think the money
doesn't work as well in O'Reilly
as it does in the other two
series I'd love it if we could say like
a like an RFK
Traderhand at a couple a couple
teams or something yeah
it's just it's again
it's old school and I just think everything else
about the sport is new school so like the team
a lot of the teams aren't really optimized for what
the O'Reilly series and I mean there's a reason
we've talked about a lot of the young guys in top
seats are all either pay drivers
or they've got tight sponsorship connections
you know it's it's hard to just
there's a reason Cory Hyme isn't in O'Reilly
and you know it's it's tough it's tough deal
Napa saying one year ago
Fox showed a hot air balloon instead
of racing to be fair last year's
race you might as well watch it
and then Spencer
let's get ready to rumble
I can't do it the way my voice was
Jared just
Jared just got his voice back and the chat's trying to
make him burn it up already
Alex I've slept on this for
months with everyone whining about
Fox. Stop watching Fox then
and tune into MRN and PRN instead
show Fox a broadcast
is unacceptable by consuming another
medium complaining only goes so far
I mean I've had a couple
times where I went for a walk and
listened to MRN, PRN
called a race they're okay
they can have
their moments where I'm
more zoning out to what they're really
talking about and
I don't like having to listen to Dave
anymore I have to but
they do
they do still do the thing
where like in the middle of stage 2
they will have the race sponsor
come into the booth and they will do a 15
minute interview with the sponsor
during the race that is still very
common with MRN so it's like yeah
they have their highlights but like
is not a viable way to truly
listen to the entire race and get the
full experience. You gotta go online
right to the international feed if you can
that's about the best way you
can you don't get commercials
that way.
Indy Carson,
Veen Ask Carson put a few here says
hey NWP how was your Easter
holiday? I think pretty good for me
pretty good.
No cup race last week but
hey the wives of NWP hosts
were awesome and entertaining for the fans
last week can't wait till
they do it again someday.
For sure.
And then says
Rockingham,
congrats on the top five trucks great finish
but same old Boringheim wins again
O'Reilly congrats Minnesota
on Swalloch becoming the first driver
to win a NASCAR race from your state
that is true.
Good deal.
Fellow Minnesota Viking fan.
Alex, hey Danny what WrestleMania
match are you looking forward to the most
as a Randy Orton fan? I'm looking
forward to CM Punk
vs. Roman the most
coffee or McAfee?
Pat McAfee.
Pat McAfee same
to imply he was
done with the WWE he wasn't going to be doing
anything else with him anymore so
so be it that's fine understand
he just randomly comes back
and he's put in as like
an associate
of Randy Orton who doesn't
need a Pat McAfee to be
of him as like that's going to be
his big advantage over CM
Punk like no these two have
so much history in their time
in the WWE they were literally the tag team back
long ago this was
not needed and anyone else
would have made more sense in Pat McAfee
this this one definitely was a head scratcher
as far as what
match I'm most looking forward to it's
not for championship reading but Brock
Lesnar and Oba Femi
it's going to be just
too massive behemoths of
men going at it that one will be fun
if it lasts more than
five minutes we'll say what actually happens
the way they booked these things
Jeffrey
says no Bristol 40 degrees
and 300 horsepower 10 inch spoilers
moving on
I'll give you I'll give you a
two word answer
hell no
that's not very hell yeah of you Danny
well it
NASCAR is going to be knocking on your door
it was cool to see it but it can move on
see Eric here says do we miss
Bristol dirt do we need dirt racing
I said yes and yes I actually
like Bristol dirt
oh that's what I was replying to
yeah so that's I think Danny was already like
no no more Bristol dirt and I'm with you I don't think
Bristol dirt needs to happen but I wish
they could mend their fences with Tony
to Stuart Stallone Eldora
I love to see Eldora
something or other
also I think like on my end it's different
than your end because I didn't see this one
pop up in the queue so
I don't know if it missed a few or not
oh interesting this is what I had next
I only have three left
that's what I had next to
indy karson any news iceberg
on nurses cubs game results
not till Friday night
I was late tonight
if you already talked about it due to taking care
of elementary school students
in school and church all day
I said I love my jobs
yeah it should be
I would assume we'll probably know
by the time I'm live Friday night
I'm not sure though I'll give you guys the update on here
hopefully back on wood it's all good
Steven says TMS in May
will be the hype of my
bachelor party
sweet have fun yeah
I'll be there hopefully it's a good
hopefully at least it's an interesting race
it's not always a good race but it's been
interesting the last couple years
then Jensen says I agree
with NASCAR cletus needs more racing
experience before approval for Dega
my buddies who are new NASCAR
fans wondering if I
if having Amazon allows queez
his journey up the NASCAR ranks
is going to be part of full speed
aloha that would be cool
I feel like cletus already though
like the way he's covering all that
via YouTube his YouTube show already and it's
well it's not as polished as what
Amazon or NASCAR would put together it's still
like I feel like that's what makes it real
and authentic and relatable
I mean to be cool but I also don't think it's
necessary because I think he's already such an open
book on his own YouTube channel yeah I don't
know that's an interesting thought
and then last one from Steven says
with Daytona testing back bring the all-star
race home to Charlotte that'd be down
especially the way the racing is
probably makes the most sense at this
point gotta give dover
give dover a points race back come
on now yes come on that's what they need that
100%
agree all right that should
do it for tonight so next week we'll
be live on the 15th on
Eric's channel I pointed the right way
for once
high five
don't don't leave me
hey there we go
all right we'll be live on Eric's channel
8 p.m. eastern time grant from auto
racing analytics will join us
we'll talk all things Bristol and then we're
going to Kansas
that should be a good race right like
that should be guaranteed to be a good race
right come on I hope so at least decent
decent
enough
income tax day for NWP
oh yeah
that's April 15th
taxation is theft
we need to throw more tea in the harbor dammit
we'll never steal your time on
NWP so yeah
can't wait to see you guys
next week and until then
drivers
start your engine
I don't care if I wreck the whole f***ing
over
that was an absolute bullsh**
it's not clear
or I'll tell you
I'm not even racing a f***ing f***
what the f*** are you out here
people are saying you're just racing
like a f***ing idiot
I don't care
what the f*** is he doing
did you ever think you would
see that
all the f***ing that just happened
are the f***

About this episode
Rockingham and the early-season NASCAR storylines take center stage, with William Swalich earning a breakthrough win after strategy swings and late-race issues shuffled the field. The guys break down Corey Day’s steady top-10 pace, Parker Kligerman/Redslaw’s surprising consistency in a strong mid-pack ride, and Sam Mayer’s nightmare DNF that derailed his chase hopes. A big debate follows: NASCAR’s decision not to approve Cleetus McFarland for Talladega—seen as the right call for safety and reps, while hoping he racks up ARCA/truck experience. The show also looks ahead to Bristol, including tire talk, race picks, and super-speedway stage format concerns.
Cup took a week off but we didn't. Let's talk all things NASCAR in what wasa busy "off" week.
