And we are Brewing Solutions on the CarGuy Coffee Podcast. Excited to bring you a new brew of our
bigger than business series where we are highlighting some of the awesome aspects of what can happen
just being connected to the people that are inside of this amazing industry, their family,
and beyond. Fred, we got a very special brew and man, this is really near and dear to our heart
and a really good full circle moment, isn't it? Very much. We have literally known this person's
father for many years now, but we've seen her grow up from a high school teenager that was getting
into music, loved the performing arts, was an amazing person just coming up, just building
confidence and then just took a chance. Literally left St. Louis and went all the way to Nashville
to just go for her dreams, man. And I absolutely love that the family behind that supports it
and they're out there cheering her on as their number one, as her number one fan. And it's amazing
if there's, if he's in her parents are their number one, is her number one fan? I think we're
number two, bro. Let's go. Yeah, I'm definitely going to say we're up there in the fan club.
And we're definitely all about being on the promotion side of making sure that people know
about how awesome of an artist, but how awesome of an individual she is. She's been pushing through
some really awesome challenges inside of this great industry and great favor is finding her.
But as a dad daughter myself, I got to be out there saying that, yes, absolutely daddy is the
number one fan of his baby girl. And we are definitely proud car guy uncles to this incredible
individual who's been brewing some solutions for the automotive industry. She's been popping up
inside a different automotive industry events. She's been playing for them. She's been breaking
down songs for them, entertaining them and doing more of what it is that even her dad does.
And we do love how entertaining she can be, especially when she grabs that guitar,
she grabs that microphone, she does her thing. So help us to make welcome for the third time
on the car guy coffee podcast and definitely never going to be a stranger, somebody that we are so
proud to have back on the show for our bigger than business series. Welcome from Nashville,
the one, the only, Jenner. Hey, welcome to the party. Hello, hello. My gosh. It's so cool to
be back. So thank you for having me. Oh, wow. As we said, we're your car guy uncles, right? We
absolutely are huge fans of what you're doing. We support everything that you're about. And it's
not just the music. It's just what you're trying to do for people. I think you're trying to bring
people healing. You're trying with your music and your lyrics, hearing your songs, you can sense
that there's some history inside those. There's some stuff that you went through that you're
able to share and be able to get people to get through some stuff because you've made it to
the other side. So congratulations on being able to do with doing it with the beautiful voice.
I wish I could seeing it. When I get a microphone, it's like one of those let's go to another room
for a moment. So congratulations. That's how my dad is. That's how my dad is for sure. He'll get
after it. He walks out to AC DC and it's like tragic to watch. Oh yeah. One thing about Steve
that we know he is not afraid to grab that microphone and if anything, he definitely is
somebody that is sought after to be able to grab a microphone at all of these industry events. So
shout out to Steve. This is an incredible testament to your awesomeness, your awesome daughter doing
her thing inside of the industry. Salute you sir from our friends over at DriveCentric, which you
can catch us over at the DriveCentric booth coming up inside of NADA this year. We are going to be
having some fun brewing some solutions with them and we can't wait for that. But Jenna, this is a
new opportunity for you to be with us on the show. The last time that we had you through your debut
record was going out and you were getting some real good tread going on. I don't know if you were
allowed inside of the clubs yet really or have a drink or do any of those things yet, but now
things have definitely changed. That license has turned sideways and now you got a new record deal.
What has been brewing with you sister? What's the last couple of years been like?
Oh my gosh, it's been a whirlwind of emotions. I've gone through a lot of ups and downs after
releasing icing on the cake my debut EP from 2023. I've just been working my butt off but I went
through a lot of different like highs and lows and it taught me a lot about growing up especially
just like in this world of chaos and trying to find out who you really are and I think
it's a beautiful thing to find what you like, what you don't like, who you are and especially as an
artist and I've learned for example I love like the colorful aspect of things but also pairing it
with rock and that's kind of what I channeled for this album that I'm releasing in February is
I'm trying to be more relatable and be more in touch with my emotions and I wanted to give it to
other people who can relate and if you do sadly sorry but like I want to give it to people who
can scream their heart out and have an outlet to have those emotions especially as a young teenager.
Wow, I absolutely love that and you're definitely bringing that and the experiences that you're
having from the time you were born to now has brought all that to life and as you grow and as
you mature and as you learn more about who you are the more that you can help people figure out
who they are and that's what's a beautiful thing because before we could pour into people's cups
our cups need to be full and you're filling your cup every single day with practice getting out
there working your voice writing and really going out getting influenced by people right I'm sure
that you're meeting people that are just talking to you saying hey we see this inside you and they're
giving you great mentorship along the way from not just your parents and I know your parents are
great mentors but along the way in the last couple years have you found any new people in your life
that have really shown you hey let's go this direction with your with just with your career
hey let's look at it this way. Yeah right after I think it was I went through a really crazy time
in my life last year and then after I decided to push toxic people out of my life and start focusing
on me it was like a month later and even though I was still struggling with those emotions I was
confronted by my now label label 22 and I immediately had to flip the switch on my emotions
and be in go-go mode but they taught me a lot about what I need to focus on where I need to
perfect and I really look up to a lot of people at that company because I wouldn't be there I
wouldn't be here today without them as well as some of my writers one writer that I've been working
with ever since I've moved here and I've known him now for three and a half years and he his name
is Jake Arthur and he writes a lot of the stuff that I he's like my Jack Antonoff if you guys know
who that is he works very closely with Taylor Swift and with Sabrina Carpenter and those are just
their people and I'm really lucky to have found him because he's one of my people that I love to work
with and we love to joke around everything but he's always been there for me no matter what
whether I've been an independent artist or whether I've been signed and he truly believes in me and
it's so rare to find people like that and especially with my friends my friends have
gave me inspiration I have a friend down here named Melanie Murray and I call her my little
sister and she is even though she's younger I learn a lot from her and I think that just proves
that you can learn from any generation whether it's somebody older than me or somebody younger than me
and so I think it's a really beautiful thing to be able to find people even though they're younger
than you to look up to I have them and but I mainly look up to yes my parents have been supporters
of me ever since literally when I was born and I literally could not be here today without them
and that's why I feel like my dad is so important even though he's he has gotten me here but I also
take a lot of aspects of what he does with me because I wouldn't be able to be an extrovert
without him pushing me to be get out of my comfort zone when you move down here you're not allowed
to be an introvert you got to be yourself and you have to showcase who you are and really adapt
to the Nashville way which is all about southern hospitality and you have to shine through and
yeah it's important but those people have definitely helped me along the way
wow we've had a lot of people on the show and we've asked a very similar question
on our five liner and that answer was phenomenal just got to say I love
think about that at such a young age and the levels that you hit it with from everything from
your record label to the people there to the two was it Jake Arthur is that what you said Jake
yes to Jake to Melanie talking about how somebody younger can be somebody that could be a mentor
to you somewhere you can learn from and how factual is that that is so profound like a lot
of people don't realize that so much later in life so you are definitely pacing very well my friend
and I'm looking forward to seeing what the next couple years ends up for you and I know it's going
to be great because you're putting in what we call consistency and which is a huge core value to have
inside you and if you keep doing that being consistent with your growth oh my goodness it's so
good so I love it thank you for answering that and shout out to Steve again and your parents just
for the love that you gave them and of course their support so awesome there's definitely
something special that you possess that needs to be exposed to the industry and what we as
car guys and car gals inside of this industry you all know that no matter what it is that's going on
inside of your life when that opportunity shows up when that customer shows up or that deal shows
up it's game time shows on performance time has to happen now and what I do love is that this industry
is forming that inside of other people but nothing like it is inside of show business when the cameras
are on you all of the eyes are now pulled directly to you you are literally on a performance stage
right everything's in tune everything's lining up and the pressure is real and the pressure is on
and the one thing that can't be adding additional pressure to the moment are things that are out
of our control things that we can't change which is usually yesterday and there's so many days that
now have gone by you so many opportunities that now you've had the chance to go and do venues
that you've been to what has been some of the most exciting events and venues that you've had
the chance to play at since you've been on this new run yeah I a lot of the exciting venues are
gonna be more this year but I have I've played at a lot of I've played at there's a place down here
called it's not backstage but it's the basement and a lot of people played there it is yeah it's
a lot it's where a lot of like more band bands are gonna play there and I got to actually I got to
open for somebody there a good friend of mine Chase Stetson and that was such a that was like a
check mark off my bucket list kind of thing and that was a really cool place that was probably one
of my favorites that I got to play that year was the basement that's awesome that's awesome and I'm
sure that you got your eyes set and your heart set towards other places that you dream to play at
but I know that there's gonna be some people that are gonna want to see you and get out there
especially if they're running between St. Louis and Nashville they could catch a show and catch a
good time and get the chance to catch up with you and see what's brewing with you where is it
that people can see you here in the near future yeah this Saturday I'm gonna be performing at
Maggie O'Brien's and Sunset Hills and St. Louis so definitely come out to that it'll be at 5 30
that I'm playing and it's a two hour set so we're gonna have a good time it's like my hometown
release party so I'm really excited that I get to debut some of the stuff that I'm gonna be releasing
in February to everybody and especially with the band I think that's gonna be so much fun and there's
gonna be merch there's gonna be food it's gonna have a great time and then but if you're in Nashville
you can find me on the sixth I'm actually playing at the local which is another one of my favorite
spots that I got to play last year for my first time and but the local is like this place in
Nashville it's a little dive bar but it's really popular for famous songwriters to go to and it's
a really popping place especially during the weekend and so I'm going to be playing there on the sixth
with my band that's for another release party here in Nashville more band one and then I'm gonna
be playing on the 15th for my official release party which is gonna be more of like a listening
room style and if you don't know what I mean by listening room it's gonna be so the listening
room is a place down here that a lot of people go to to really get the behind the scenes of the
song like why did I write this song where did it come from what place in life was I at and why did
we all come up with these verses and different lines you get a real cool in-depth of the song
and a lot of famous songwriters also play there people that like wrote for Layton Wilson and
all kinds of stuff Teddy Swims go and play there and those are the behind the scenes of the song
so for the 15th I'm going to be playing at Live Oak which is another cool venue here in Nashville
and I'm bringing all of the writers and people who worked with me on the song and who were featured
upstage and we're all going to sing the song together and just talk about why we wrote the song
where it came from and all the funny things that happened throughout writing this song it's going
to be very a personal experience so if you're interested in learning a little bit more about
me about my writers and how songwriting works that's a really good way to get in touch with that and
see the more independent songwriter side that's awesome that's exciting and you've done that for
the industry before right you've actually had these I've never been to one except for going
to a DC 20 event in Nashville so you've actually done that for some of us before where else have
you done that so I did it for women's and automotive who was down here in Nashville for their event
and I got to bring up yes I got to bring up a friend of mine to help me out because I was
struggling with strep at the time but when I was up there me and her we got to chat about the songs
that we wrote together and we did like more of a round style and I know rounds are usually
unfamiliar to a lot of people rounds are where you get three to four artists up on stage and they go
in line of each song and they explain where the song came from and it's cool because when it's
down here sometimes they pair different genres together so you get like a whole wide variety
and it just shows that Nashville is kind of like a melting pot you're not going to just have country
there's like pop there's rock I've literally heard rap before in r&b so there's a ton of different
types of genres down here so no matter if you just like country or if you like pop you're going to
find anything down here and so I want to bring that to st louis and also to the automotive industry
because I think that's really important and also it's just like a cool way to get in touch with
how to describe your feelings and get to learn a little bit about music that's amazing that's
exciting I know that for us it was a special event for us when we had the opportunity to
actually sit in there hear from you hear from other artists to find out what it was that
actually inspired these different songs and became the gateway that brought the actual
heart to the paper and then that into music form and there is a crazy awesome and vulnerable process
when creating music when creating a song getting together with a songwriter that you trust and can
feel what you're feeling and can turn that into lyric that's something that's very special those
are or precious relationships those are you every single one of you have some sort of a
in-depth relationship with music in some way there's a song that's inspired that's moved you
that's done something to you today is probably getting you motivated today is setting up the
atmosphere for your showroom or for your business music plays a big part of all of that for all of
us and it's a timeless unexplainable phenomenon the power of music but with that you go through many
different journeys inside of that this next album let me see you have different titles you have the
bitter half you have poet messy i don't know her which is a ballad right a song called leftovers
just the creativity inside of the titles say that there is a lot of passion there's a lot of emotion
there's a lot of experience that's squeezing its way as we would like to say is brewing its way to
the surface and you're giving it to people in a way that they can digest it one sip at a time one
song at a time one note at a time what was this creative process like for you and how has it been
different for the others exactly yeah so for icing on the cake it was a lot different because
i had to i had a lot more time to write i had a also my whole entire teenage life to think about
all of the things that have happened to me and i'm somebody where whenever i want to write a song
i have to fully process that emotion to be able to write it later so that way whenever i'm singing
it i don't have to fully grieve it still even though i can still feel that way and so i use
that as my processing emotion and some people like to write songs literally in the moment which
totally you can i've done that before but i'm somebody who i once i write the song my emotion
is completely off from it and now it's just a fun song for me to sing even though i still feel that
way but it's not as heavy anymore because then i get to relax and let go i think of it as my diary
giving it to y'all and when writing this album after i got signed i only had about two weeks to
be able to figure out what i wanted to write and what i wanted to make and throughout those two
weeks i planned and i also wrote and i wrote 21 songs in one week which is insane and i'll never
do that again it was nuts it was nuts i will seriously never do that again but it was a fun
time nevertheless and it is doable it shows at least 21 songs in one week and throughout that
week i was writing from morning to night whether it was like nine a.m in the morning till 12 p.m
one a.m and i remember one of the songs for example the poet it's a really deep cutting song it's a
very angry song when you listen to it but each individual word had to be as poetic and witty
and punching as the last and that's what's really hard about especially this album is because so
this album is called smart sass which i'm pairing smart ass with sassy and mixing it to my own word
yeah so yes and so i made up my own word pretty much and and i'm basically taking all of the
dark emotions that happen to me are very like stupid things that happen to me feelings and just
like real things that did happen to me and making it into a funny sarcastic way and that's what the
song and all of the songs are about is just making fun of weird things that have happened to me
whether it's being having rumors being spread and like lies told about me to being to like twisting
my words and also just being a messy person i really try to tap into the raw emotions of how
i felt in those times but but also trying to put my own fun spit on it so that way it doesn't have
to always be dark you can make humor out of it and try to put like the more light side of things
this this ep took like i said 21 21 songs and i had to narrow it down to six and it was such a
hard process because there was a lot of like really cool runner-ups that i was like really
iffy on but i love all of the songs that i wrote in that time so much that i want to come out with
something else in the future with maybe that a new project but this project is really special to me
yeah i'm sure you got some special ones that are gonna probably sit on the shelf for a little bit
maybe get refined i might have to but they'll come out eventually that's a great bank of creative
to be able to have out there and there is so much that goes on into creating a song it's
absolutely mind-boggling to me that you found a way to do basically three create three songs a day
write three songs a day and have to then funnel that down to six that's a crazy journey but you
said something that is very special and it's awesome just seeing the correlation that goes along with
what we actually call it in the industry is a release party inside of the music industry it's
a release party not in hearing you describe it it's more than just the albums out and available
for purchase the songs are now out there able to be heard it literally is from the way you
described it of after you get it out and now it's off it's on the paper it's in the it's inside of
the music fusing of the world you're done you're literally released there has to be some sort of
a true release inside of the burden of the feeling of the hope that it sounds or comes
together that you have at that party am i right how does that feel as an artist to really say
now we're really released it's done it's out there here you go world here's our heart
like what i was saying earlier i it's almost like exposing your diary so it's scary in a way
and because you're truly giving yourself to a project and then giving it to other people
especially if they were based on personal experiences which it sucks if you can relate to
it but if you can this is something that i want people have and to interpret it to their own needs
and what they need it's mainly it's something that i want to give to other people as an outlet
music from me was an outlet and it has helped me so much in my life and my mental health
because i do struggle with emotions and there are things i can't say out loud so i sing it out loud
but and i feel like that's a lot of people is sometimes they don't want to say things out loud
but it's better to have it in a song so somebody else can say it for you and that's something i
really want to tap into especially with this album and i hope people can relate to it in this way
and it's definitely scary because is are you going to be accepted for who you are and like
whatever but in the reality of when it when you're trying to be yourself and things happen to you
it's literally also happened to somebody else and that's where you become relatable is because
everybody is going through the same thing so it kind of lets you know that you're not alone
hey man wow absolutely love that and just hearing everything i love again i want to
re rebring back and rewind really quick and go back to smart sass now yeah i just gotta say i love
that that's very creative t-shirts need to be made i'm telling you i can say they are don't worry
i got it i love it i love it i love it and that's what it's all about it's the creativity that comes
out through art you know and being able to truly find out who you are and really share that with
people and be an open book like you said i love you talked about the diary it's like somebody
reading your diary but you know what you're healing people and you're healing yourself at the same
time by doing so so i'm very excited for your release party i'm excited for it to be released
to the world because it will be done and people will be hearing and it will forever be ingrained
into the music industry it's always there yeah i'm looking forward to hearing what comes after
that i can't wait to have you back on the show again i can't wait to for people to see some videos
like the one that i'm about to click right now

just saying how much fun was that video how much fun was that so fun it's so fun especially
that song is just it's so different than what i usually write because i'm such a pop rock person
but i loved tapping into this doo-wop side of things and pairing it with the pop rock it's just
it's one of my favorite songs ever oh it was a very cool fusion i felt it it what felt different
than anything i heard and that's why before we started this show i mentioned the maturity that's
coming through you and i see it the growth and being able to do that and do it and like you've
been doing it forever was phenomenal and you have been you've been doing it for a while now
in a couple years in now over here in nashville and look at you you're already understanding
what it is to be there and you've done it most people give up before the first year so
way to go and way to keep growing like this that's phenomenal i can't wait to keep at it no matter
what if you if there was a young lady or a young man out there that's just looking at you and they're
going i want to do the same thing what's the tip that you would give them right now if they're like
a 15 to 16 year old that one that wants to take the chance i think no matter what even if you're in
the car industry even if you're in the artist industry whatever you're in i think you have to
fully you have to believe in yourself first before anything else and if you don't then you're losing
yourself and you have to also stick your ground on things there's things i've had to turn down
and know that know what my worth is because i have to believe in myself and i know what's good for me
and i try to be that kind of person for other people who maybe have not have found that yet
but i would say you have to learn how to believe in yourself and how to because once you believe
in yourself you're going to be more confident and you're going to be more sure about your answers
you're going to be able to talk slower and you'll be able to punctuate yourself better
and i know that's so cliche to say but i feel like after living it even though i am young i'm
still learning i'm still trying to figure out myself even though i feel like i know what i
like and what i don't it's like this process of learning but as you keep learning who you are
you start becoming more sure of yourself and you start believing in yourself more because
you can see the vision goodness that's some wise word why is jenna over here
trying let's go jenna you said something that's that is critical and it does correlate inside
of this industry as well for automotive is that the confidence does actually bring a calm right
there's a lot of noise there's a lot of shaking and bacon that's happening all around you all the
time a lot of chaos and it's easy to get caught up inside of the crazy but when you get confident
and you know who you are and you know your worth and you know what you're doing brings value
that brings a calm which helps you to see things different which helps you to create better right
and helps you to be basically more you rather than just so reactive you get to actually create and
there's right and then i feel like it also can help you sell it can help you make videos it can help
you push your engagement more as if and you're confident in yourself you're going to be able
to sell better whether that's selling tickets or whether that's selling a car come on reach it
reach it let me go you probably could come sell 50 cars a month first month that's just the way
you're trying you know what i could try it i don't know i don't know anything about a car
in the law guys i don't have to you just gotta know you just gotta know that you want to help
people and that you want to help all you're doing is trying to guide them somewhere and be in you
this is just be confident they want a confident person because they're nervous that's it it's
no different than anything else there's people who love certain artists because of the confidence
they have and they want to they wish they had the same so they live through that and they get to
experience that and then maybe one day they take that chance because they see it was possible
so it's important to keep doing that and that's why a good salesperson can do that and a great
artist like you can do the same thing and actually share that great news to everyone else that's
some really awesome stuff really profound i'm telling you young but very wise and you're and
great job buddy seriously we're very proud of her and we're proud of you too buddy
jenna there is a lot of excitement that is brewing around you and we are so thankful so thankful
that you have taken time out of your crazy rock star schedule we know how hard it is to corner a
rock star and get those interviews but you've been so gracious to give them to us over these years
and we're so thankful to be able to watch you do incredible things all these years and we almost
do want to see we want to put the challenge out there i bet you she can show up at just about
anybody's lot listen to what some of what daddy says some of what these solutionaries say and whatever
her leaders say and she can outsell anybody i'll take the challenge and we'll put her in the right
spot and she might even be able to put on a concert for anybody who how many of you can grab a guitar
and belt out some tunes like her she definitely can keep them waiting while they're waiting on
finance if there's anybody that can entertain them she definitely probably could so i'm excited
to see if we can maybe put that challenge together out there but jenna you awesome
you're doing incredible things i know that the stories are going to continue to grow
and who you are today is going to continue to blossom and grow into an even greater and even
better contributor to industry and to people as a whole thank you so much for what it is that
you're doing thank you for your joy your smile and just really keeping it real we need good artists
like you just keeping it real and keeping it with a connection point because i believe that there is
somebody that's adding to your song just with their own voice and we'll maybe never get to hear
them add their part to the song but you're helping to create a soundtrack for their life and we're
so thankful for that thank you jenna so much oh i like that thank you guys you guys are so sweet
i will always be a part of this no matter what happens i'll always be here i love that because
when you make that big record deal which you've made this great one it's next level and as you level
up and we're in front of big millions of people's doing shows we just want to open up for you we're
