Comparison is a thief of joy, and this episode dives into the importance of focusing on your own journey rather than comparing it to others. Kelly and Liz share personal anecdotes about motherhood, podcasting, and the pressures of social media. They discuss the significance of embracing your own unique path, whether it's in parenting or career choices, and how serving others can help combat feelings of envy. The episode also features a fun segment on industry news, including the latest in electric vehicles and a light-hearted take on dinner recipes.
The new podcast studios are up and running. Are Kelly and Lizz ready to introduce themselves as podcasters? It does sound a little better than 'influencer'. Either way, they are ready to make 2026 the year of The Carpool Podcast!
Kelly is starting things off strong with a Fast Lane Philosophy that will get you thinking. "Don't compare your start to someone else's middle?" This leads into a conversation on comparing yourself to others on social media, finding the right sources and learning from those that have done it all.
It's been a while, but the Millennial Word of the Day is BACK! Do you know what an "Unk" is? Lizz has an explanation. Luckily, it's not as annoying as the 6-7 craze...
Kelly and Lizz both have products in the Detail Shop that you're going to want to hit 'add to cart' on. First, Kelly is obsessed with the new dry shampoo she recently tried. But not so obsessed with the med spa facial she recently tried out. Lizz is working on getting out of her ugly era and the beef tallow she recently tried seems to be doing the trick.
An advice question came in from a mom that is on a journey to become a truck mom. Is there a good electric truck she should look for? Since they are on the subject of cars, it's the perfect way to transition into Industry News with the Top 10 Best Selling Cars of 2026. Did your favorite make the list?
Finally in Ditch the Drive-Thru, Lizz is making Pesto Chicken Pasta and Kelly is raining on her parade. Then it's time for 'Dancing with the Stars' predictions. Will Andy finally go home?!?

Welcome to the Carpool podcast with Kelly.
Some of the teachers say like it's a bad word, you can't say it.
Which I don't know if I necessarily agree with that, because it's not a bad word.
Like things can be annoying, but that's not a bad word.
Kids are annoying. I mean, spoiler alert, kids are annoying.
And Liz.
Like obviously you're gonna bundle your kids, but like by the time your fourth kid is bundled,
you're gonna go find a coat.
You're already running 15 minutes late.
Your mom time off starts now.
Come back to the Carpool podcast with Kelly and Liz in studio.
In the studio, in we.
I didn't know where you're going with that.
We're not together.
It's kind of confusing.
Well, I was going to say in foodio, like fake studio, but I didn't know if he would know what a foodio was.
I would not have known what a foodio was.
We're in our foodio.
And this is this is 2025 where we buy the same crap on Amazon, set up our phones, try to make it look like we're in the same room.
Let's make 2026 like a huge year for the Carpool.
That's what I ordered the year.
What carpool carpool just like focusing on the carpool feeding the carpool.
I just love being a podcaster.
And do you feel like if you were at a networking event, would you rather tell someone that you're an influencer or a podcaster?
What has what is more like?
I mean, a podcaster sounds so much more professional.
It's like the most embarrassing thing in the world when someone asks you what you do and you're trying to describe like it's easier to just say influencer.
Because then you got to go, well, me and my sister, we have this platform where we review cars or moms.
It's like a short word influencer kind of thing.
No, it's the most embarrassing thing to say.
I won't say it.
I'll say automotive journalist.
Is I'm a car reviewer.
I say I'm a car reviewer.
Yeah.
But if I felt like maybe in 26, I'll start trialing on a podcaster.
I do a podcast.
Um, yeah, I think, I think we can because actually, like the podcast is doing really well, right?
So we just have to, and Kelly and I have actually, we've been talking a lot about the podcast and our plans for it.
And we actually have some really fun.
We love side hustle summer.
We love having segments like series, not segments series.
So we have some really exciting series coming up and honestly, like at the end, some days I'm like, this is my podcast.
I can say whatever I want.
But other days, like I'm feeling today, I'm like, this is your podcast.
Like what do you want from us?
Like literally tell us what you want.
Like we'll give it to you.
Like we'll do it for you.
Like whatever you want.
Yeah.
And I'm very much about like feeding you.
Well, we really like, I like interviewing people who maybe typically wouldn't get interviewed.
Like that's why I love side hustle summer so much because we talk to some people who like, you know, are your influencers.
But we also just literally talk to some regular moms and I find regular moms to be the most interesting people on the planet.
So I just think there's some of the smartest, well-versed people out there.
So yes, we have ideas.
I don't think we're already like spoiled because we're still workshopping them.
But similar to side hustle summer, we're going to be bringing some more like guests on not for the whole episode, but for parts of the episode to teach us tangible takeaways.
And that's the thing.
If it's not a meat and potatoes, it's not on the podcast because we're only here to give you meat and potatoes.
No fluff.
Speaking of fluff, I did have a, I thought we would be able, I thought I'd come up with a better segue talking about like our new studio.
But I guess I won't.
So I do want to say that like, I wanted to kind of kick the episode off with a fast line philosophy.
Oh, okay.
Where I share something that's piqued my curiosity.
Okay.
And, you know, it's something that I've said before, but it really is something I kind of like live my life by.
And it's one of my favorite quotes of all time.
But my husband gave me.
Well, or he kind of came up with it.
And then I found a person who said it, but it's that you can't compare your start to someone else's middle.
Yeah.
I say this a lot because when I, and I'm going to give you the backstory, but when I first started on YouTube, YouTube felt so intimidating because there were so many other car reviewers who were doing such a good job.
And I remember being like, I am never, I'm not going to ever get to that level.
Like this isn't possible for me.
And Tyler was like, Kelly, who's the biggest car reviewer ever?
And I'm like, Doug Jamiro, he's been on the podcast.
Huge deal.
Kind of biggest deal of our life.
Actually, Doug Jamiro recently liked one of my photos.
I didn't realize I think he's following me on Instagram.
Wow.
Huge for you.
Which is a huge deal for me.
Okay, sorry.
Anyway, so Tyler goes, let's go watch Doug Jamiro's first video.
We watched Doug Jamiro's first video.
It was horrible.
Yeah.
Horrible.
So he's like, that's who you need to be comparing yourselves to.
And I'm like, well, my video is better than that.
You're first.
So it's just so similar with our podcast studio.
Am I obsessed?
No.
Are you shadowy?
Do these, do these curtains look like hospital room dividers?
Yes.
All of that is true.
But this is our start.
It's not our middle.
It's our start and you've got to start somewhere and I agree.
Yeah.
So just something to think about and how else can you apply that to just like
all facets of your life?
Well, and I think like just thinking about motherhood, you know, like who you
were when you started, when you were like, let's say you have three kids now
and you were a mom for the first time and you couldn't fathom going to the
grocery store with your one baby and now you have three kids and you're like,
Hey, if I can go to the grocery store with just one kid, I might as well
be alone.
It's so easy.
And just like you'll get there.
Like if you're going through a hard season or like you're seeing other moms
like looking like they're doing it better than you a they probably aren't or
that's just what they're posting out there.
And also like don't compare the mama three to you like beginning like
trying to figure it out with your one baby.
Yeah.
Comparison is a thief of joy is another one that they like to say.
It is a thief of joy.
So it is.
And this was something that if when you're this was something that
Matney, my virtual assistant, she's like kind of been posting on Instagram.
I don't know if she wants me to say that or not, but she's have you even
have you been following her?
Yeah.
She's dabbling.
She's dabbling her toe in the micro influencing.
Anyway, she was talking on her stories about how she she goes to therapy.
She's a huge advocate for it and they were talking about comparison and she
shared this on her Instagram.
So I think I can share it here.
Her public Instagram.
It's fine, right?
Matney's not going to care.
She's not going to care.
Um, and she said we so often compare up, but so if you find yourself
comparing up, start comparing down and then see how you feel about yourself.
And I always am a really big advocate and believing like if you're going through
a season of your life of like intense, uh, jealousy, envy, comparison, which
we all do and we're all humans.
I find that one of the best ways to kind of like reset her and ground
yourself is to serve in some capacity, whether that literally just be like
serving at your kid's school, your church, I mean, or like a more traditional
like food bank soup kitchen, et cetera.
Just like doing something for other people is like, it's so healing for comparison.
I find that and also just like romanticizing.
We've talked about this, but like romanticizing the chaos and romanticizing
the phase of life that you're in right now.
Those are some of my favorite Instagrams to watch is when she's like, I'm just a
mom in a regular kitchen and this is what my house looks like.
And we don't buy new things every time there's a new drop of target and we
don't do this and they just like show what a regular life and what a regular
house looks like.
And I find it to be very healing and, um, then you can just like look around
your own house and just be like, wow, this is working.
And I do like the older stuff and I don't always need new stuff and like having
just stuff and stuff and stuff just like adds so much stress.
It's so much more to clean.
I just love the minimalist.
And well, and that's why I really, I love that everyone has a phone now and
that we now have social media platforms that can, it's just different than
what it was.
Anyone can go viral.
Anyone can have views in any, in any, in any home in any season of their life.
And that's really why I just like always, I know it comes with a bit of a cost
and it's not for everyone, but like that's why I love when people post online.
I think it's really, I think it's healing and helpful for the person doing it.
I think it's creative and I think it's so needed to put like more of that,
like regular content out on the world.
You know?
Yeah.
I just also love capturing like this phase of life too.
And like having that, like my Instagram and my stories, like, cause when you,
you can go on your stories and like, I can go look at what I was talking about
in April of 2022, like leading up to my wedding.
And I, and I was just talking on my stories all the time, like giving my thoughts
like, and it's just fun to see how much I've changed and like go back and like
look at that girl and it's like, Oh, wow.
She had time to like work out all the time.
Um, she's so unrelatable and it's just cute.
And I think that it's, it's a good, I don't journal.
I actually feel like my Instagram archive is my journal.
Totally.
And it's just like seeing phases of life that I'm in.
So I like that.
And I also saw this Instagram.
I'm chronically on Instagram.
I need to start sharing my real seven scenes and really good reels.
And it was this, um, grandma now, she's probably in her like 50s, 60s.
And she talked about how she had four kids, four kids in five years.
And she goes, my house was destroyed constantly.
There were goldfish everywhere.
It was chaos.
It was crazy.
And they had a wonderful childhood and now my house is clean all the time.
I know.
You can't, you can't hear those reminders too much.
We went to moms yesterday and I walked into my mom's house and like it is,
her house is beautiful and it's clean.
And I was like, Oh my gosh, I'm like, so jealous that this is your house.
Like I'm so jealous.
Like your house is so clean and nice.
And it wasn't though.
I mean, I grew up in that house.
It definitely wasn't always like that.
No.
Yeah.
And just that also just kind of reminds me too.
Like we were at, um, like donut Sunday after our church the other day and I
was sitting at a table and then like one of my neighbors who I'm kind of getting
to know, she sat down at a table and then there was like, um, an older woman
who sat down at our table and I was just kind of like, I was talking with
this girl and then the older woman chimed in and she was like, Oh yeah,
I'm a mom to triplets.
And this is like, we were talking about motherhood because I'm thinking I can
only connect and relate with the people that are my age.
I'm like, Oh, this woman not only had triplets and another kid.
Not only does she have four kids, but she's been through it.
Like she's on the other side of it now.
And I just, it hit me.
I don't know what the point of this is, but it just like hit me in that moment
that sometimes I don't connect like older women with being in the same stage
as me because they're not in the same stage as me.
They've been through it.
And I think that we don't have anything in common because like you're not
drowning in diapers right now.
It's like, well, they had been and they've seen the other side of it.
Yeah.
And I just, in that moment, I was like, wow, I wish I would have like connected
with her more because we do have things to talk about.
No, that's like such a good point on a deep level.
Also to bring it up, to bring it up to like more of the shallow end.
I also find it to be so important.
Careful taking your recommendations for people who are in the same life
as you, like even if like you just look at like, I just feel like you see so
many like Instagramers and or influencers or content creators do this.
It's like a first time mom and like here, like here's my baby must have.
So it's like, I'm not saying you can't take that from her, but sometimes
you got to, you know, see someone maybe a little bit more experience.
Yeah.
Okay.
They really want to be sassy.
I'm talking about the car seats because it's just like you have so many
people like to recommend their car seat.
And I'm like, oh, okay.
Like you're like, you're giving a review of the one car seats for your one
child, like you have nothing to compare it to.
I know.
I talked to like one of my friends are like, well, car seat should I get
everyone says I should get this one.
And I'm like, that's because that's the one that everyone and you're like,
hi, they haven't tried.
I can tell you I've tried that one and other ones.
I'm telling you don't get that one.
Get this one.
Like everyone, of course they're going to love and you should love what you
have.
It's a $500 seat, $300 seat.
Car seats are expensive.
Love the one that you had.
However, however, you haven't tried multiples.
Yeah.
But whatever, that's just being a little snippy.
Anyway, I can't stop looking at us.
Like we look so unbelievably professional.
Um, I did mean to put on another shirt.
I'm wearing a sweatshirt, but James is obsessed with closing doors right now.
Like he has to slam doors and he slammed my door so hard that it locked.
So what I went to go change.
Yeah, I'd locked like no one was in the room.
He wasn't in the room.
Somehow locked from the outside.
I have no idea.
Um, so when I went to go change before this podcast recording, I was like trying
to get this door unlocked and I eventually did it, but then I forgot to
change.
So that's why you look so much nicer than I do.
I got you that sweatshirt.
It's so big though.
It's so J-Norris.
I haven't washed it though yet.
No, it's like, I actually don't like it very much.
So I don't know what I'm going to do with mine.
It's way too big.
It's really comfy.
It'll be so good for like, um, like a postpartum or pregnancy sweatshirt.
Well, and I think the problem with a lot of my clothes right now is it just
hasn't been cold enough to wear them until literally yesterday.
And I kind of have a new theory for winter that I'm really excited about.
And I think that's just like the midwesterner in me showing because I
think something that we do in the Midwest, especially if you don't live
in a walkable city, we don't wear coats that often.
Like we're kind of chronic for like, oh, cause like we're not walking.
So we're driving everywhere.
And then all we do is like basically freeze our butts off between our car
in the store and vice versa.
We might throw on a light jacket, but like we're not dressing like they do
in like Chicago or like New York for winter because we don't walk anywhere.
Do you find that special?
No, I find that more now that I become a mom because you're just carrying
a lot of stuff.
So like I used to put on my winter coat and I would have gloves and I
would have a hat.
And before I became a mom, I would bundle up, but now I'm sweating getting
everyone in the car.
So you don't really need it.
Sure.
So, and I agree with like, I don't, I don't think I'm, I think I'll still
like freeze my butt off, butt off like walking in and out of target.
But I'm going to make a more conscious effort to like bundle and spend
more time outside.
Yeah.
Okay.
I'm looking to bundle because I think it's good for my health.
I think it's definitely good for my mind.
And I think it can actually be very enjoyable to be outside when you're
dressed properly.
I just don't think I ever dress properly.
If I'm being honest with myself.
Um, yeah, because do you remember when we did that thing with eBay Motors
when we went to, where were we freaking Wyoming?
Like, I don't know.
No, we're in Montana.
Montana.
We were in Montana filming with eBay Motors for like this snow tire thing.
It was like such a fun trip.
Kind of.
We've kind of actually.
It was such a horrible trip.
We were pregnant and we were, we were like both, it was horrible.
But anyway, we spent, we had to spend the whole day filming outside, but
like we were dressed and it wasn't that bad.
Yeah.
Like we were outside in the snow for like 10 hours at seven and six, eight weeks.
Probably like, kill us.
It was horrible.
It was terrible.
But like if I can do that, I'm thinking I could handle like 32
degrees in Missouri outside.
So I'm going to bundle myself.
I'm going to bundle my kids.
Okay.
And I'm just looking forward to that.
So that's your theory on winter is wearing winter clothes.
That's the theory you're excited about.
Yeah.
That is a theory I'm excited about.
Okay.
Um, we'll see if it happens.
Cal, I don't think it will.
I think, I think I'm onto something that when you become a mom, you just, you
don't care as much and you just go through it.
Like obviously you're going to bundle your kids, but like by the time
your fourth kid is bundled, you're going to go find a coat.
You're already running 15 minutes late.
Like, yeah, you're dreaming.
Maybe, but I'm maybe I'm just saying like, I guess I think I forget.
Well, because I'm not doing that with the errands, but like I could take
the kids outside on a cold day.
I, we just all have to wear coats and hats.
Um, I mean, it's groundbreaking stuff I'm talking about.

Um, I was just going, trying to look at our reminders app.
Huh?
Florals and spring.
Florals for spring groundbreaking.
I was just looking at our reminders app, trying to think of anything
else to talk about so we can get off this topic.
Um, we have a, we have a Gen Z where we have a millennial word of the day
where we learned Gen Z slang so it can be less lame.
And if you know what I just said, you are an OG carp fuller cause we
use to start every episode with a millennial word of the day where we
learned Gen Z slang so we can be less lame because our sisters are Gen Z.
There were so much slang.
Um, and we heard one the other day.
Who said it?
I have no idea what you're talking about.
The word is, the word is, uh, oh, I had to be drew.
What, what was the context?
Unk, unk essentially means okay, boomer.
It's like, boom, like, okay, uncle, like uncle, like you're a boomer.
Yeah, that's a good one.
Whatever.
Unk.
Yeah.
The Gen Z has been quiet or we've just not, or we've just been tuning it out.
Hard to say.
I've certainly, unk is slang for uncle short for an older male figure can
be used to show affect, affection or respect or humorously call someone
out for acting older out of touch.
Yeah, that's funny.
Wait, hold on.
Um, my kids won't stop saying six, seven.
And my kids are four and six.
So I don't know what that's all about.
I thought I was supposed to be like middle and I didn't, I didn't teach him
it.
Like I can't believe you just send your kids to school and then they just,
it's so, it's honestly sucks.
Just like, and I know it's part of life and like you just have to hope you
laid a good foundation, but like the way that now George has once things.
Have I talked about this on the podcast?
Like George really wants Nike shoes.
Like he knows what the heck Nike shoes are.
Like first of all, you're not wearing anything but kids X cause you don't
know how to tie your shoes and I don't simply can't.
I can't do this right now.
Pump that down the field.
But now he like thinks he wants Nikes cause like someone in his class is
Nikes, it's disgusting.
It's crazy how much, um, influence like school and other kids can will and
can't have on your kids.
It's kind of disgusting actually.
Yeah, I'm not really a fan, but I guess it is what it is.
That's why you just, I guess kind of got to hope you did your best.
You know, um, yeah.
Well, we went so last night we went to mom's house.
Um, our husbands are on a hunting trip for like one night with our dad and
our brother and so we all went to mom's house and had dinner.
First of all, your kids were saying six, seven constantly was so annoying.
Yeah, I know.
I don't know the best strategy because they're not allowed for, I think some
of the teachers at the school like don't care, but then some of the teachers
say they're like, it's a bad word.
You can't say it, which I don't know if I necessarily agree with that because
it's not a bad word.
Like things can be annoying, but that's not a bad word.
Yeah.
It's annoying.
Kids are annoying.
I mean, spoiler alert.
Kids are annoying.
Um, yeah, no, it was fine.
But so we went to mom's house last night and when I walked in, mom had a
spiked apple cider, boiling, sizzling mom coated like, of course, here's what
she did that she just elevated it.
So I have made spike cider and I do cider and like fireball and mix it in a pot.
Mom had cinnamon sticks.
She had a bag of cloves.
She had, I don't know what she used to spike it, some sort of whiskey.
It was like an apple whiskey though.
An apple whiskey and she had it in a beautiful pot, simmering on the stove
and made the entire house smell delicious.
And then what she did to elevate it even further is she got out her China glasses.
Yeah.
And we, the China glasses with a little tea cup with a little plate underneath
it, it's called a saucer.
Oh, saucer.
We had saucers and we had kids running around everywhere over the way Kelly
and I felt so elevated drinking.
I had my little saucer in hand and we were just sipping the tea, spilling
the tea.
It was a lovely experience.
No, the girl doesn't mess.
Like it was such an iconic thing to do.
It was so fun.
It just, we were just going over for dinner.
Like it doesn't even know, I don't even know we don't have anything to drink.
It was just, it was soothing.
It didn't even need to be spiked honestly.
Like it was just like a very soothing drink.
Animator house smell delicious.
So if you're hosting this Thanksgiving.
Well, spike cider is all the fun.
It's all the comfort of tea, but it's more fun.
I have my tea.
I drink it for the health benefits, I guess, but like I find it to be an
incredibly boring beverage.
Yeah.
Like if I had a faster metabolism, it would be hot chocolate.
10 out of 10.
Like I don't actually like tea.
Oh, you better believe I'm making the brown broth hot chocolate this week.
Not this month, not two.
I forgot about that.
I forgot about that.
I should make that.
Yeah, it was really good.
I told the craziest thing today.
What?
I was driving home from mom's house.
So I spent the night at mom's house and then I had to like, luckily my kids
wake up at 515 and mom was already up and made pancakes.
The woman's unbelievable.
Wow.
Um, but then I had to get all my kids dressed and drive to school.
Like we went straight from mom's house to school.
And on the way there, I like stopped at a stoplight and there was this girl next to
me, like a younger, like a Gen Z and she was eating a pop tart.
What's like the craziest way you could eat a pop tart?
What's the crit?
Like I would say like biting the icing off and then eating.
So like, you know how pop tarts come like in a packet too?
She was eating.
She was eating them at the same time.
At the same time.
That's crazy.
That was like, that's the craziest way.
Like going through two pop tarts at one time.
Oh my gosh.
That's insane.
It was wild.
It was a wild thing to witness.
That's way too much.
The ratio is thrown off and then you're not, you're speeding through.
Like you're not enjoying it.
Like my mouth was dry.
Just like watching.
My mouth is dry thinking about it.
Like it's so much crumb.
And a crazy thing to do in the car.
She must have been having a rough morning.
It was brown sugar too.
That's crazy.
So crazy.
So crazy thing.
I also have a beauty shop where we,
a detail shop where I share recent beauty swap.
Ooh.
Okay.
So I am on to something and I think you miss blowout.
We'll appreciate this.
Okay.
I got sent this in PR.
Crown affair dry shampoo.
Do you know what that is?
Oh.
Crown affair.
They sent me something too,
but I don't know if I got the dry shampoo.
It's a powder.
It looks like a setting powder.
So it's not an aerosol.
Like it is unbelievable.
Like my hair honestly.
So how do you use it?
So it comes with a little brush and then you like put it in your hairline.
Like the way that I get excited for my hair to get dirty so I can use this
because my best hair day is actually after I use it.
Like it's not.
Really?
It's not a bandaid.
Like it is the best.
It's a life changing product.
Okay.
I actually think I might have some.
I think it's $45.
So you're like woof.
But it lasts longer than the aerosol for sure.
And I have a lot of hair.
And I've been using it for two months now.
And I still have so much left still.
It's so good.
It smells great.
And so then I put it in my hair and then I like just take a blow dryer and like flip
my hair upside down and like, you know, kind of run it through my hair.
And then it's like, oh, okay, no, I'm perfect.
I'm clean.
Like I look unbelievable.
Awesome.
So like you will be, you would, you would be ordering again.
I would be ordering again.
Oh wow.
Okay.
And it's like so rare for me to say that about a PR product I get sent because I
normally don't, I don't really honestly don't use most of them.
I put them in my bin and then I make some killer grade school dinner auction baskets
with all of them.
But I got a dry shampoo and I found that one and I'm so happy.
I tried it because it's unbelievable.
So something that I have also been trying that I had been sent.
And I'm so happy I was sent it.
It's from the brand Talova, T-A-L-O-V-A.
I have this face and body balm.
I only use it on my face though.
And it is a tallow.
Oh, it's a tallow.
Which I had been tallow curious, but never ordered it because like honestly I could
not fathom putting, I just felt like it was going to smell like beef on my face.
Yeah.
When I grabbed this stuff, I was, I was out of moisturizer.
I was like, oh perfect.
I was sent this.
Let me try this.
It says it's a balm.
I'm using it for days.
It smells incredible.
It's very thick.
It's like very good for the winter.
It's extremely hydrating.
It makes my skin look very like dewy almost because it's just so like, like I don't, greasy
is not the word, but I don't know.
My face looks dewy after I use it.
Anyway, I come to read the back of it and it's tallow.
Oh, you didn't know it's tallow.
And I didn't know.
So I have, I've like ditched my moisturizer, my go-to moisturizer that I've used for years.
I get sitting on my shelf and I'm using this tallova face and body balm.
And again, have only used it on my, on my face and I love it.
Okay.
Go off girl.
Love it.
That's so exciting.
Liz, Liz, Liz.
No, I'm working on something right now.
I'm doing a lot of different things with my skincare because I'm trying to stay out
of my uglier despite my hormones trying their best effort to put me in one.
Totally.
And I, I'm not here to, I'm not ready to share yet, but this last cycle, I think went pretty
well on these, these different things that I'm using to tallova to be one of them.
But I will do a full, if, if I'm successfully able to stay out of my ugly era for another
month, I will share.
If you've been marked safe from your ugly era.
Correct.
I was also trying to attempt to stay out of it and I, I'm not a big facial person.
I just like facial spa treatments.
It's just like not really my, I don't know who has the time, um, but I was like, I'm
so desperate.
So I, I was like, Oh, I'll go get a hydrophacial.
It was not a good experience.
Um, okay.
The thing is I don't enjoy a med spa because a med spa, it's, it's heavy on the med.
It's light on the spa.
Yes.
I go, I'm booking a hydrophacial.
I'm thinking it's a relaxing facial.
She didn't even dim the lights in the room.
Like it was a horror, like I laid on basically like, like a, like a doctor table with, with
an overhead light on and she, there wasn't a warm towel.
There wasn't a little neck massage.
There wasn't a head scratch.
There was nothing.
She just took this thing on my face for 40 minutes.
It was cold.
And then she charged me $150.
I'm like, that sucked.
Yeah.
Med spa is like, okay, a med spa.
Sure.
If like, I'm going to be there for like 10 minutes or so.
And like, you're going to be doing something like very, there's just no, there's no way
there's no reason you can't marry the two.
Like where's the, that's what I'm saying.
I'm not expecting for like a Botox treatment or like whatever.
I get why the med spas exist, but there was no reason a hot towel couldn't have been introduced.
Totally.
Do you know, like it was, and I guess like that's what hydrophigials are.
I didn't know that.
I just, I guess I've only ever had like the few times I've had facials in my life.
It's been more of a relaxing experience.
Like there was an essential oil involved.
It was just this hose on my face.
Like, it was horrible.
It wasn't relaxing.
Did your skin look good after?
Well, it's like, now I'm kind of breaking out.
And she's like, well, sometimes that ranks it off to the surface.
And I'm like, well, then take it out.
Take it all.
Sounds like you didn't finish the job.
I do think it's a little bit more glowy.
Yeah.
Yeah, you look nice.
Yeah.
But like it was not, I wouldn't do it again.
I didn't enjoy it in the slightest.
I was, I was just really, I guess that was my fault.
Disappointing.
So disappointing.
Um, okay.
Well, we actually have an advice question that I wanted to get to.
Okay.
And if you want to write in to get your own advice, you can do so by
writing into hello at the carmomeofficial.com.
And hold on.
I have to find it where to go.
Here it is.
Okay.
Advice becoming a truck mom.
Cute.
Hi, Kelly and Liz.
I'm a mom of three boys, six, four and two.
And we're done having kids.
Hopefully.
Lol.
I drive a 2012 Honda CRV that can't transport all three kids at one time.
We also have a 2022 Toyota Sienna.
We've always said our next car will be electric.
We always buy our cars and use and pay cash.
We're thinking of getting a Ford Lightning.
Are we crazy for wanting to buy electric?
We love the idea of a truck and also having to be extremely
economical considering it's an electric car.
I heard a rumor that Ford is possibly stopping the electric
F-150 Lightning.
So should that be a concern to us at all?
What would other alternatives be?
I'm not crazy about the Rivian truck and not sure I could do
three across anyway.
Oh, that's so interesting.
We one time had a mom talk about her writing or something about
how she is a Ford Lightning mom and she like literally like wrote
an email and almost, I mean, I could never have one because I
can't have that car.
But like, I would love to have an electric truck.
That's a great idea.
So I remember that mom.
That was a great email.
First of all, I love trucks with mom cars.
Like they're 100% slept on.
I honestly need to be ramping up the content on them because
they check so many boxes.
Like they're excellent cars.
Excellent, excellent for families.
So spacious, so wide.
They're great.
I have heard similar rumors about the F-150 Lightning.
So I don't think that would necessarily be a concern for me.
I think it's, I think enough were sold and they were around for
long enough.
I also don't think they'll, I don't see a world where they
totally cancel it, but I do see where were they definitely
sold on the production.
She also like, she says that her current car is a 2012.
So it also does kind of sound like they are the type that will
drive a car for, for a long time.
So, I mean, you could be, you could make that concern about
like any car really.
Yeah, you're right.
So no, I, it will be interesting to see what Ford does with
the Lightning.
I don't know, I stand by the fact that I found it to be a very
interesting decision by all these automakers to try to break
into the EV truck market instead of other EV markets first
like that.
I don't think any of us were, I mean, I feel like I've been
talking about that for, since it happened, but like it is so
interesting how we don't have like electric, I guess we have
the buzz, but like, we don't have like electric minivans or
like SUVs, but they're like, let's do the trucks.
And then like everyone did the trucks.
Kind of crazy.
Yeah, that is crazy.
But that's actually a really good segue.
So you, I don't, I don't feel like you've, and so did she, are
there any alternatives outside of the Lightning if she wants
an electric truck?
Oh, no, I don't think so.
I mean, the Silverado EV, but like that's even like, I mean,
the Silverado EV is nice, but the Silverado EV is nice.
And I guess if you had to-
How long has that been out for?
Because she said she wants to buy used, and I'm not-
It's been out, it's been out long.
You'd have a harder, oh, has it?
Okay.
Yeah, I think it's been out since 22 maybe.
I mean, GM's EV sales are pretty good.
I don't know how good the Silverado is.
I actually don't really like the looks of the Silverado as much.
I would, I'd go for an F-150 Lightning.
That's what I would do.
Okay, but that's a good segue to our industry news where I
got that T going on in the auto industry.
Well, first the hottest T is that the car mom is doing a warehouse sale.
Ooh, ooh.
I'm probably going to turn it off today.
So make haste.
So here's the thing with the warehouse sale.
Everything is on mega, like 50% off discount.
We also have our pre-order open still.
Yeah, our pre-order is open for the never say never and fueled by coffee shirts.
And kind of our reasoning for this was like, we want you to try to get,
we can offer free shipping at $75.
So we're like, let's get people, like so buy the shirt, pre-order the shirt,
and then just get yourself to the $75, buy a cleaner, buy magnets,
buy some discontinued merch that's on the side.
Like there's honestly a lot of stuff on the website right now.
And like I said-
And it's like if we, it's on like such a discount,
but like if we didn't do that free shipping threshold,
like we would literally be paying you to buy this stuff.
So it's like we'd be like losing money.
Oh yeah.
I mean, I think we're definitely in the red on some of these things,
but that's okay.
For sure.
That's okay.
But if you do the pre-order, so let's say you order a shirt,
and then you also order a magnet, like your whole order will ship together.
So it's not like the magnets are going to ship and then the shirt's going to ship.
So just know that.
Just know that.
And if you don't want a pre-order shirt,
you can just stock up on all of the other glorious things to buy.
But yeah, we're moving things out.
So make haste.
Okay.
Our next story is, I shared this on my Instagram,
but I kind of just wanted to get your thoughts on it.
And then I wanted to do another fun exercise.
It's the top, top 10 best selling cars in the US.
Did you see this?
A little bit.
I saw a little bit.
So I thought it would be fun to compare the top 10 best selling cars in 2025
to the top 10 best selling cars of 2015.
Ooh.
Very fun.
Very fun.
Where were you in 2015?
Where was I in 2015?
I was in college actually beginning of 2015,
beginning of my first semester.
I was, let's see, I was a junior in college.
My first semester, I studied in LA.
So my major was television arts.
And the reason I went to my school, Bradley, shout out Peoria, Illinois,
is because they offered a television arts degree
where you could study in Hollywood for a semester
to see if you liked LA before you like commit.
And spoiler, I absolutely hated it.
Sorry if you live in LA.
Hated it.
I hated the entertainment industry.
And I said, no, thank you.
So anyway, that's where I was.
I was, I was living my life in LA.
I came and visited you.
You know, it was so annoying about when I went to LA though,
as I wasn't 21.
I remember us skating around though.
It didn't stop me entirely, but it did stop me at some,
I just think I could have had more fun if I was 21.
What were you doing in 2015?
Well, I was visiting you in LA.
I mean, I was a senior majoring in equestrian science.
So I would say, I mean, I had no idea where my life was going.
Yeah.
I was actually, I was actually on a better trajectory
for this career path than you were.
Okay.
Now let's talk about cars.
Oh yeah.
So for 2025, the number one was the Fort F series
with 597,000 units.
Now compare that to 2015,
they sold 780,000 units.
Oh, that was still the top car?
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Number two of 2025,
is the Chevy Silverado,
which was also the same in 2015.
That's fascinating.
Now this is crazy.
Number three was the Ram pickup in 2015.
Ram pickup got me back to number five.
This is confusing.
Am I doing this right or are you following?
No, I'm following.
Okay.
So in 2015, the Ram pickup was number three.
In 2025, number three was the Toyota RAV4.
And the Ram moved down to number five.
Now trucks are always high on the list.
One, because a lot gets sold for fleet cars.
It's kind of like the main,
because this is only new cars, you know,
it's not like a reflection of like all the cars
that were sold.
So anyway, but the RAV4 being number three was exciting
because the RAV4
was not on,
was number 10, was number 10 on the 2015 list.
Okay.
Let's just do the top five
because this is going to get really exhausting
if you do all of them.
Okay.
The Honda CR-V was number 20.
Yeah.
I'm like having like, I can't do this.
It's so hard to go back and forth.
Let's just, you know what,
forget 2015.
Number four for 25 was the Honda CR-V
and number five with Ram pickup.
Okay.
What was, okay.
Now you can go if you're just going to do 25,
you can do all of them.
Number six is the Sierra.
Number seven is the Camry.
Number eight is the Model Y.
Number nine is the Tacoma.
And number 10 was the Equinox.
My biggest shock to see on the list was the Equinox.
But I'm proud of the Equinox.
I am proud of the Equinox.
But it's crazy because like
the Nissan Altima was on the 2015 list.
It's not on there.
The Accord is not on there.
The Corolla is not on there.
The sedans are moving off the list.
Well, the sedans are moving off the list.
The only sedan on this list is the Camry.
People just are not into the sedans.
As of late.
And the Tesla Model Y is the only electric car.
Two.
Yeah.
So that's industry news where I confuse everyone
by trying to go back and forth between two lists.
You know what?
I saw someone sent me for industry news.
There is a fleet of police cars in Vegas.
And their cars were all just replaced with Cybertrucks.
Oh, I think that's a good idea.
I think it's a good idea too.
It looks like that.
If that came barreling at me like that's scary.
Like the Cybertruck is the scariest car in my opinion.
And I think it's a great cop car.
I support the Cybertruck being a police car.
It's interesting how, like I am going to be,
I can't wait for 10 years to pass and then for me to do research on like Cybertrucks.
Because how are you watching Chad Powers?
I'm still working on Desperate House Live.
I'm a slow bird.
Well, there's this show Chad Powers.
It's so funny.
It's like, it's a great show to watch like with your husband because I was like, it's football, but you know, it's not.
Anyway, he's, but it's Glenn Powell.
He's actually, he doesn't really do it for me.
I don't find him that attractive.
Is that crazy?
Um, I mean, I don't know.
I don't know in the context of Chad Powers if he's.
No, like I never had.
He's just never really done it for me.
Oh, interesting.
Yeah, it is kind of interesting.
Which one do you think he kind of looks like Tyler?
And like, I don't want to say like there is a similarity there.
Yeah, like what is that?
Who is your celebrity crush?
Like what?
Who's your celebrity male crush?
I want to see if you have a type.
I know.
I don't really know.
Yeah, I think he kind of looks like Tyler.
Honestly, Tyler does do it for me.
Obviously, Tyler does do it for me.
Like, I don't know.
There's something about Glenn Powell.
Maybe I just don't like, I think it's something with his jaw.
It's a little wide.
Who is your celebrity crush?
I don't feel comfortable answering.
You don't feel comfortable answering.
Oh, the truck dad.
That's your that's your celebrity crush.
Yeah.
I'm not really into celebrities.
I think I think we all made our statements very clear on.
Oh, my gosh, who's the sexiest man of life?
Oh, Jonathan Bailey.
Jonathan Bailey.
Yeah, I would say like Anthony Bridgerton is kind of like up there for me.
Yeah.
He's up there for all of us.
Back to Cybertrux.
Cybertrux.
So in this show, Chad Powers, this guy's like, he's just like, he's a.
What's like the PG word for this?
He's a loser.
He's like, he's a D bag.
Can I say that?
Like he's just like that.
Sure.
Like that.
Like that's what he is.
Like he's got an earring and he like is this washed up football player.
Like he's a dead beat.
He's a dead.
No, I don't know.
Anyway, he drives a Cybertruck.
He drives a Cybertruck and like it's funny.
Like that's like that's the lore and like that's.
That's what makes him such like a loser and like he's driving a loser car.
He's driving a Cybertruck.
Like it's just funny.
Interesting.
Okay.
Interesting.
Like the Cybertruck has been like coined as like the car that those kind of people drive.
Okay.
You know what I mean?
Sure.
I didn't know that, but that was where the Cybertruck was the reputation the Cybertruck
was getting, but that's like, you know, Anthony, the Cybertruck has like a really big role in
this movie.
Like it's concept.
They're constantly talking about it and like it's constantly coming up and it's so
losery.
Like it's such bad.
I'm telling Tyler.
I'm like, this is like the worst PR possible for the Cybertruck.
Bummer.
Yeah.
Bummer.
Yeah.
Okay.
Kelbal, are you ready for a ditch the drive through where we give you an easy dinner
recipe to mix it up to get you out of your dinner rut?
Yeah.
Okay.
Well, I'm going to share an oldie but a goodie, something that's on my list this week to make
and it's one of my husband's favorite meals and that is a pesto chicken pasta.
You're always, it's always pesto, it's always coming up pesto chicken pasta at the St.
John's.
Well, Maddie really likes it and it is your spaghetti and meatballs.
No, I make spaghetti and meatballs actually quite a bit, but Maddie doesn't like really,
he doesn't really care for marinara.
So I try and mix it up on my pastas and anyway, here's how you make it.
Cause I do something a little bit different, bow tie noodles, essential.
They make your, yeah, bow tie and pesto go good.
Make your chicken however you want to make it, I make it in the pan.
The sauce, the pesto sauce is I just do like a green like pesto from the store, put a couple
of dollops of that in your cooked pasta, a little bit of heavy cream, fresh parm, mix
it, mix it, mix it while I'm doing that, salt and pepper, like whatever season it.
I'm making brussel sprouts to get a little bit extra veggie.
I add my baked brussel sprouts.
Your face is so disgusted right now.
Don't clip that.
Don't clip that.
I'm clipping it.
Cause everyone needs to see the face you just made.
No, it sounds really good.
I haven't gotten to the razzle dazzle part yet.
I know what it is.
You add balsamic.
I've had it before.
You just ruined my ditch to the drive through.
Thank you.
So then you freaking, you make stupid brussel sprouts, you cut them out, you put them in
and then you drizzle it with like Pesalma glaze, like whatever.
Enjoy.
Yummo.
Do you want to share something?
No, it sounds good.
You should double it and you should bring it to lunch on Wednesday at the dealership.
Stop trying to make up for it.
I'm so shook about that.
Kelly, that was so rude.
Anyway, it's delicious.
Now that we're being recorded and I don't even know how to clip.
So this is so unfair because you're going to be the master of the clip.
I am in full control.
I'm going to do something crazy tonight.
What?
I.
So I had a, I had a butcher box and I honestly, you know, like I love butcher box.
I love having meat in the freezer.
Um, anyway, they sent me, but I only do chicken and seafood because we have beef and pork.
And they sent, they had party wings and it was just like chicken wings, like three packs of chicken wings.
And I'm like, I gotta, I gotta cook these.
Like these have just been, you know, you're always like waiting for a time you're going to use it,
but I've also never made wings before.
So like I'm not going to make wings and then invite people over to watch the football game.
Like I need to trial run it with just my family.
So I'm going to make these wings and I'm a nervous wreck about it.
I'm a nervous wreck.
Now we tried making wings once before and they were super gummy and gross.
Yeah, I know.
So I fear I might need to deep fry them.
But like, I just can't be deep frying wings on like a weekday.
Like I got it.
Surely they can be made in the oven.
I think so.
Maybe it's just like high temp, high temp.
And what I also read is, you know, like, um, cookie racks, you put those on there so that they don't touch.
So they're not touching the bottom of the pan.
So like air hot air is going all around them.
Mm hmm.
I'm a wreck.
I'm honestly like, I have no idea what how this is going to shake out.
Yeah.
But okay.
Well, keep us posted.
But like if I could make and wing, I know it'd be huge.
It's impressive.
I also was looking up some recipes for grilling.
I don't know if I have a grill, the grill in me tonight though.
Yeah.
I want an oven baked chicken wings.
And I think my kids would think that was so fun if I like made chicken wings.
And I have b-dubs, garlic parmesan sauce.
Yeah.
And I have barbecue sauce.
So I could do like, I could do like barbecue and garlic parmesan wings tonight for dinner.
For when Tyler gets home from his hunting trip, like then he could love me so much.
Yeah.
Wouldn't that be nice?
Or I'll serve him gummy chicken.
And then he won't love you.
Yeah.
No, there's a lot.
Right.
You know what I would maybe have like a backup, like flatbreads.
I don't think I like flatbreads and wings kind of go together.
I can't.
No, I don't can't do both of those.
I have to give it my whole, all of my attention.
Oh, okay.
I just felt like you could have like flatbread ingredients on here.
Well, that would require me to go to the grocery store.
I don't want to go to the grocery store.
Oh, okay.
I'm sorry.
Well, best of luck.
Sounds like a lot's riding on it.
A lot's right.
And we've such a busy day with work.
I just think that could be able to commit to the bit till around 3pm.
Yeah.
Better than having my kids at home.
Totally.
Well, anyway, guys, thanks for watching to the Carpool podcast.
That's our episode.
This was fun.
Thanks for listening.
We hold on before we go.
What?
Let's do our DWTS predictions.
Oh, it's always, if it's not Andy, because it should be Andy.
But if Andy is going to somehow make it through for another, which I'm so sick of.
I want to fast forward through his performance as I don't get it.
If anyone else goes home before him, I'm going to be genuinely pissed off.
Now, I think he's going to go home.
I do.
I think he's going to go home.
Here's what I'll say.
If he stays and Dylan goes home, or even if Whitney goes home, I will continue to watch
the show.
If Elaine gets sent home and Andy stays, mark my words, I will be done with the franchise.
And they will lose me as a watcher the same season they gained me.
I'll be done.
Done.
It would be absolute BS because he is only five years older than her, and he is literally
treated like a child.
And they're kind of harsh on her.
And it's like she just had a freaking backflip.
And she was just in the hospital.
And this guy can't even move his legs.
And you're like, you're what dance is all about.
It's like, no.
And he's not what dance is all about.
You're actually just not.
And I'm sorry, I'm here for a competition.
Yeah.
No.
So that's where I'm at.
And of course, if it's Dylan, I'll be thrilled.
If it's Whitney, I'll think that's unfair, but she's not my winner.
I fear people are saying Elaine, I will riot.
Yeah.
I mean, Elaine, we just never know because we had no idea that she was going to end up
being in the hospital during that one.
So I just don't know where her body physically is at.
Even in her injured state, she's still light years better than Annie.
So it would be absolute BS.
I love her too.
And I do think people love her.
Yeah.
We'll find out.
I think she's more popular than Dylan.
But we will find out and we will do a recap on our Friday episode.
So in the moment, we're in the dark.
So we'll see.
All right, guys.
So thanks for listening to the Carpool podcast and we will talk to you next time.
Love you.
