GLP-1s are medicine that can help people lose weight. They help you feel less hungry, so it’s easier to eat less. The podcast also mentions that results are better when combined with diet and exercise.
A clinical trial is a study where researchers test a medicine on people. In this segment, they mention a long trial (72 weeks) and how much weight people lost on average. They also note it worked best alongside diet and exercise.
The Dodge Ram is a large pickup truck made by Dodge. It’s built for carrying things and handling tough jobs, but it can also be used like a normal truck. The podcast mentions a “99 Ram,” meaning they’re talking about a truck from the year 1999.
“Interior work” refers to modifications or restoration inside the cabin—typically upholstery, trim, custom panels, and related fitment. The speaker mentions dropping the car off specifically to finish the interior, implying a custom or restoration process rather than a quick cosmetic touch-up.
A manual transmission means you shift gears yourself using a clutch and a stick. If you change the transmission, the shifter usually has to be moved so it lines up properly.
“Function over form” is a philosophy where performance and usability come first, even if the initial install looks rough. In custom builds, temporary “butchered” or unfinished work is sometimes done to get the car running/driving, then cleaned up later.
Carpet is the floor covering inside the car. If they took it out, it usually means they’re doing a more involved interior job, not just changing a small trim piece.
The throttle pedal is the driver input that controls engine throttle opening. If carpet is too thick or the pedal area isn’t cleared properly, the pedal can bind or stick, which the speaker describes as a key problem to avoid.
Hydraulic roller lifters are a type of valve lifter that uses engine oil to keep the valve timing “set” for you. They usually need less adjustment and are easier to maintain than solid lifters.
Horsepower is a measure of engine power output, commonly used to compare performance between cars. The speaker mentions a Mustang/Cobra having “seven hundred and fifty horsepower,” which indicates a highly modified, high-output build.
“Tilt-up” is how some big buildings are built. Workers pour big concrete wall sections on the ground, then use a crane to tip them upright and brace them in place.
A three-way speaker system splits audio into three frequency ranges, typically using a woofer for bass, a midrange driver for vocals, and a tweeter for highs. This can improve clarity and reduce distortion compared with a single or two-way setup, but it requires correct placement and crossover tuning.
The door panel is the inside trim you see when you open the door. It covers the metal and usually holds things like switches and speaker grilles, so driving without it feels rough and exposed.
SEMA is a big annual car show in the U.S. focused on aftermarket parts and custom builds. If something was done for SEMA, it was probably built to look impressive and showcase the work.
Alcantara is a synthetic suede-like material commonly used for interior trim because it looks upscale and feels soft. It’s often used on headliners, inserts, and other custom interior pieces where you want a premium look without using real leather.
Tinted glass reduces visible light and can also help with heat rejection. In custom builds, tint level is often chosen to match the exterior color and the overall “flush” look of the rear window area.

This word sounds like a coating/finishing process. The goal is usually to make the part look right (like satin black) and hold up better over time.
In a race, a pace car is a car that leads the other cars at a controlled speed. It’s used when the race needs to slow down for safety or track conditions.
Land Rover makes vehicles that are built for rough roads and off-road adventures. The speaker is comparing the emergency setup to how people outfit Land Rovers for tough use.
Emergency braking refers to how well a vehicle slows down under sudden, high-priority stops—often measured in controlled tests. The speaker notes the vehicle required more road to stop on freeway-style emergency braking, implying weaker stopping performance.
A “stripped down” version is a simpler, cheaper version of the same kind of vehicle. It has fewer comfort features so it’s easier to modify for a job, like rentals or emergency use.
Bring a Trailer is a website where car enthusiasts buy and sell cars through online auctions. People post lots of details and photos, and then the price is decided by bidding. This Pantera is one of those cars being auctioned.
The clutch is what lets you smoothly shift gears in a manual car. If it’s worn out, the car can feel jerky or slip. They’re saying this Pantera got a fresh clutch so it should drive well.

Good morning, sir, how are you?
Yeah, I'm good, man.
Busy in the garage?
Yeah, between, you know,
just got back from watching Gage for the spring game
up in Colorado and got a little bit of rest
and woke up to Michael Kidd's beautiful face.
Wanted to pick his nice little Mustang up over the weekend
that he stored here over the weekend.
And always good to see him talk more projects
right into it again, man, right into another week.
My kid is, we talked about him before.
He's from Tremac and he's been he's been on the show before.
I talked to him at C-Mode.
He's been on with us and he was coming into town.
You guys were going to talk about the truck, the 99.
It's a 99 Ram, right?
Yeah, the 99 Ram, probably have him get eyes on the Cobra
because I don't know if he's been in it, finished, driven.
I don't know if he's been.
Last time he saw the Cobra, it was completely disassembled.
So it was it was good.
I ended up dropping the car.
He got to see it right when he dropped his car off.
And then since I had dropped it off to a place called
classic auto restyling and to
to finish up the interior work, yeah, because I couldn't do it.
So he got to see it a little bit.
But as you said, the time he had seen it before, it was completely
disassembled. So it was nice for him to see the finished product in the car.
Right. Right. OK.
So these guys that were working on the interior, because, you know,
the Cobra, you know, obviously it's a manual.
There's a new shifter location for the new TKX.
And but you guys, you put a drift break in there and it's kind of mounted off
to the side of the transmission.
And we looked at this months ago when it was all sort of coming together
and you're working on brackets to try to make it work.
But how is it going to look in the interior when it's done?
Right. That was the question.
So, yeah, you know.
I, yeah, they they fixed a butchered up job, obviously.
I mean, because in the.
Hey, man, I'm a I'm a I'm a function over a form guy.
If it looks like shit in the interior and I did it, then I'm cool with that,
you know, because I know it's only temporary.
And eventually I was going to hand it off to somebody to finalize it.
Right. But I finally got the right guy.
And it's a guy named Renee.
He came out and looked at the car and assessed it and trying to figure out
what we're going to we're going to see.
And and I drove it down there.
And since I put that race to you, but the, you know, the crappy race field,
the carburetor is not liking it too much.
So I get off the highway.
I mean, I was running fine, got off the highway, you know, stalls right in traffic.
You know, that's when you pray to God again that the van thing starts
because you don't want to block everybody.
Right. And it's every single time I stopped at stall.
And so, you know, you've got to do the thing.
And it's not it's not the easiest car in the world to baby and to keep idling
when it doesn't want to idle at a stoplight in traffic.
Yeah. So.
Long story short, I got it there.
And it was funny because about an hour after I had dropped it off,
you know, they had already jumped on it.
Renee called me and he goes, you know, I don't want to be rude.
But why is there why is there?
Residential backing for the carpet installed on the vehicle as opposed to
automotive and I I did it, obviously.
And I didn't know that there was a difference.
Now, obviously, I knew that people use dynamite and stuff like that,
but I wasn't going to use it.
I didn't need it at the time. I didn't think.
But yeah, when I installed it originally, it quite obviously presented
a couple of problems.
But for me, aesthetically, it was fine.
And I didn't think, you know, functionally, it was going to be much different.
The reality is it's probably two to three times as thick as automotive.
Number one, number two, it's probably not the same material.
Quite evident by the visual of it.
I mean, yeah, anyway, anyway, let's just say that they stripped all that
crap out of there and they put the dynamite in it and they did it properly.
And I'm ecstatic that they got it done and they got some inserts for the
for the twenty five hundred done for me and I finally got a poultry shop.
They jumped on board with this concept that we're doing.
And I'm excited to I mean, the thing looks great comparatively.
I mean, it looked absolutely horrible.
And at the same time, my seats were a tiny bit off kilter and I got them
to adjust those for me.
And so now the thing is I don't want to say it's done because it's never going to be done.
But, you know, when we switch the gears in the rear end,
things going to be quote unquote finished.
So now we have it aesthetically up the par where it, you know, needs to be.
So so we're looking at this happy this photo.
Now the the the center console with the shifter and the drift break.
And and I guess he he redid all of this.
He took the carpet out, took the seats out and just redid everything.
He didn't redo everything.
He just did the center, you know, right over the hump.
OK, just that center section where I had all through the, you know,
the holes because of obviously I had to cut the hole for the drift break.
And then we moved the fricking shifter up probably eight inches.
So just again, it was one of those finished details.
And fortunately, I'm not using the carpet that was in the trunk.
And so we had a donor piece that he was able to just I see.
He cleared out the middle section and just replaced it with what I.
Yeah, it's a great, great job.
It looks a lot better.
Oh, now my foot is not going to my foot.
I'm going to my foot is not going to the accelerator accelerator pedal
will not stick on that opening for the spark plugs.
Remember the little door?
Yeah, it's got that little trap door.
And the issue that I had when I carpeted is the issue I had that
when I put the carpet in is that it was so thick that the throttle
when depressed would stick.
And that's the last thing you want in that car.
And quite obviously you can point as to what the problem was to me
because the thickness of the underlying of underlay, right?
For the carpet, right?
Yeah, so if it was done properly, that never would have been.
So now it's done properly.
So I don't have to die by having the throttle stick.
I did a good job around the shifter without putting like a trim ring
or anything, just tucking the boot in and making it kind of flush
for both the shifter and the drift brake.
Yeah, it looks good.
It came out well.
By the way, the gauge package and stuff that's in there that was built
by Dakota Digital, they did a nice job on that.
That's they did a pretty cool set up on those gauges.
They did, man.
It, I mean, it's the only red on the vehicle and it pops.
And the functionality is great.
I love them.
And, you know, just the only issue that I've had is consistently raising
the rev limber, right?
Because I started off the 65 and it's like, that's absolutely crazy low.
Now we're at 75 or 78 and probably go 8000, you know, because it's just
an annoying beep that you hear the buzz that you hear when it pops on.
And every time I drive that car, it turns on.
So I just got to keep up on the red one.
When I don't know if you have old dyno sheets on that engine.
Where's where's the power like?
No, I've never, never dyno that.
Yeah, never. I don't think the Elliott's dynoed it.
I'm sure they did when they built the motor, but not when they put it together
and put it in that car.
But the Holmen brothers are right up the road and they just got a dyno in.
So eventually we'll get it on that thing.
Yeah, that when you see it later.
So when you see that power curve and where it starts to come down, you can start
to figure out a little bit more of of the RPM range of that engine.
And, you know, they'll probably have to do it a few times and just inch it up.
You don't want to get on there right away and go right to 8000.
Like you can start to, you know, do a couple of polls, you know, to 6,065
just to see what how, you know, how it's doing, what kind of what kind of power it's making.
And I hate slow RPM.
It absolutely hates it.
I'm telling you, if that car lives, you know, around 8000, it just
it's not happy at all, all unless it's high rev truly is, which is a good thing.
Yeah, I, you know, again, not having looked inside the engine and you haven't,
I don't think you've had that engine apart or anything apart.
So I don't know if it's hydraulic rollers, it's solid roller.
You know, that'll probably make a difference on the RPM.
Yeah, I would imagine, I mean, that's where Ernie, that's where Ernie does his magic.
So God only knows what kind of combination of stuff he's got working in there.
I mean, I could find out, you know, quite easily through a phone call,
which I'm going to do eventually.
Well, if you find out if it's a hydraulic roller or solid roller, then that'll
like the hydraulic roller, obviously it's a lower RPM, you know, not that low.
It's in the, you can get it in the six thousands range.
But it doesn't really require as much maintenance or hardly any maintenance, right?
That's the whole point of the hydraulic rollers.
It's got some oil, it's got some compression in those lifters.
But the solid roller, you can get a higher RPM, but it requires a little bit more
maintenance, you got to, you know, set the valve lash and stuff on it.
And and but now you could probably get more into that eight thousand
RPM range or who knows?
I don't know how we built the engine, but be be interesting to find that out.
You know, you know, on the on the dyno, you probably know, too.
Yeah, you'll figure it out on the dyno.
Only on the dyno.
Yeah, I wouldn't want to be in that car.
Revan eight thousand at frickin in fifth gear.
I'll be going three hundred miles and I think it's absolutely terrifying.
I couldn't imagine it because any time you're going,
well, I've heard any time you go over a hundred and it wants to take off.
But so when when when Mike came out, did you guys
did you guys work on the truck to like because you talked about getting
the transmission in there and maybe getting Will Beatty out from from.
Yeah, you know, to be honest with you, the whole time,
the whole time that kid was out here, all we were doing was bashing Will Beatty.
Because he's so easily so because he's so easily bashed,
but Will was supposed to be out.
Obviously he's it's in that time of the year for him.
So we traveled around.
He was in LA, as you said.
And yeah, he's busy.
So I mean, we're going to have to wait on his illustrious schedule to open up
so that he can get, but he he's going to be able to provide every single thing
we need other than that, that TKX.
So we're just waiting for him, man.
Will, what's up, dude?
Come on, hurry up.
You know, what, what, I'm trying to tempt him with the Boston Street
by and all kind of stuff.
And it's not working.
What, what Mustang did my kid have over at your shop?
You know, you know me, man.
I have no idea.
It's their test car.
OK.
You know, I don't I don't know.
Yeah, I got to think about which one that was.
Yeah, it was a seven hundred and fifty horse power or something.
Yeah, I got I got pictures of it.
Did I send you a picture of it, didn't you?
You didn't send a picture of the no, not the Mustang.
We just the the Cobra, the interior piece of it.
But also, I'll send you a bus thing and you can tell me what it is.
You know, by the way, I visited.
I went down and visited the guys at Ibok and, man, they're growing.
That facility they have down there.
I when I got there, there was giant cranes and they laid down a slab
for another fourteen thousand square feet of warehouse space
or getting ready.
I think today the walls go up.
It's a tilt up, you know, walls and they're attaching it to the existing
building and it's just, you know, I box their their installation facility,
kind of an R&D facility over there.
And I was over there getting some work done on my newer truck.
We had done a suspension on it and stuff, but it's getting a few things there
and got the alignment done and just seeing how those guys are growing in that building.
I mean, we were standing out there for a minute going, I look at the size
of this crane, you know, because it's got to lift up the giant warehouse walls
because it's just slabs of cement and that's a tilt up.
And I was looking out and go, how do they get the crane out here?
And he goes, well, the big crane shows up in pieces on flatbed on giant trucks.
And then the little crane, which isn't that little lifts the big crane pieces off
and they assemble that crane in the parking lot.
And because they needed something big enough to put that thing together.
And I haven't seen that done like sort of in real time.
So today is I kind of was I was there today instead of yesterday.
But today they they they unloaded everything yesterday to put the walls up.
Like they're there.
They're they're they're laying flat and that it's just that it's all going to go up
and then and all the bracing in the inside.
There's some temporary abrasions going to go and it's just going to.
Put that whole building together like in no time.
And then I guess the roof goes on after obviously that's not a big slab of concrete.
But yeah, it's it's it's a cool, cool operation that they got over there.
And then he was looking around going, you know, after this,
our next move is to just try to buy up the neighbors because, you know, they're they're growing.
Anyway, cool, cool place, nice facility.
I appreciate their help.
Let's see, this is Mike's Mustang.
He's got at the shop there.
Yeah, I mean, this is a new, newish Mustang.
It's a S550 Mustang, the red one.
I thought I saw this at one of their events or maybe at SEMA.
Yeah, there's the car.
Yeah, by the way, it's a nice trailer in between all of those.
Dodges.
Yeah, look at all those hero covers back there.
Yeah, it's good.
This is the Jeep over here.
I got a hint of the Jeep sticking out.
Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's cool.
Viper. Yeah, Viper.
So what am I saying about the truck?
Oh, he's ready to rock on.
We're just waiting for big.
That's it. Yeah. OK. Period.
You know, I was excited because I got a little console,
a four speed console that I bought off eBay.
Yeah, yeah, you make one of those things, right?
You're a new car guy.
And I pulled kid over there and showed it to him
like it was a present from Christmas.
But yeah, we're just waiting for baby.
Baby's got the pedals and have everything,
every single thing to make it work.
So, Will, get off your ass and let's go to work.
Uh, then.
So when you're when the interior guy came over,
you guys took a look at that truck, too,
and walked through like what you were explaining,
switching from automatic to manual transmission.
There's going to be a floor console now and the shifter there.
And and maybe he's going to be able to finish that up
once the swap is done.
Oh, no, well, that's easy. We can do that.
That's simple.
All you get to do is the the the floor console that I got
will cover every alteration that we did
or that we're going to have to do.
So, yeah, we I did need him for some for the door inserts.
So I dropped those off and I mean, I've had.
Those have been on my list for, I think, six years
and I just haven't found a good upholstery truck around here.
And I finally found one.
Yeah. And so I kind of last minute through those
in the truck of the Cobra. OK.
So, you know, I do as many things as you can at once.
Yeah, you need a good.
I'm just waiting for the weather to clear up
so I can go down there and pick a van car, you know,
because it's been raining, it rained all night. OK.
And there's no way I'm driving that car on the highway
after it had been rained for 24 hours.
Right. Also, there's no room to be there for.
Well, yeah, that goes when I say.
Well, I don't know. We'll see what happens.
I hopefully I get it back.
Speaking of interior, so I, you know, on my
my ninety five lightning that I took out the other day, too.
That one, the the side glass on the doors,
if you remember, we it has a quarter window in it
that we eliminated and did a solid piece, one piece glass conversion in it.
And then that's why we made the mirrors.
We 3D printed mirrors and then test fitted them.
So the mirrors mountain to the same holes as the other ones.
But they're all redesigned that the the footprint
is is longer, but the same mounting holes
and that amounts the mirrors more forward toward the front of the truck.
So they're not as close to you because you with that quarter window,
you can't have the mirrors forward because there's like a bar from the quarter
window without the quarter window, one piece of glass.
You can move the mirrors forward.
It's a little bit nicer of you.
And then we machine those all out of billet.
But as you mentioned on the on door panels,
because the door panel was designed for a quarter window,
it needs the felt strip to go all the way to the front.
And there's not enough door panel.
So I've got to I've got to figure this out with.
With an interior guy to where the door panel, the top of the door panel
has like a triangle shape to it, like a plastic piece that would go up
and go into a quarter window that needs to be cut off.
We need to fill it in so it's straight all the way across.
The felt needs to go all the way across.
And so instead of the quarter, you should have no problem finding something
out there. Yeah, you know, you should have no problem where you want to find
the interior, especially Jesus, the my my the car audio guy
that I use as well is is a good fabricator, right?
And something like that he may be able to do as well, because that's going
to take the the the door panel on that thing is just plastic.
And up at the top where the felt attaches to that's just plastic piece.
It's not covered in any sort of material.
But we are doing a three way speaker system.
So when he cuts that that triangle off and makes the felt go all the way across,
we're going to make a speaker pod for the mid.
So there's there's one in the door that's like a six and a half inch speaker.
There'll be a three inch up at the top of the door.
And then there's a tweeter in the in the A pillar.
And so we have to kind of put those all together.
So he's going to have to cut the top of that door panel,
make sort of from from scratch, have it come across and have the felt fit in
and then make a speaker pod.
And so it's going to take some like it's going to take some fabrication
and some and some body work, right?
He's going to have to, you know, and then sand it down and paint it.
And so it's not really like an interior piece.
I know there's interior guys that just do the upholstery,
but there's interior guys that do some amazing fabrication as well.
And I kind of need the fabrication side of it.
I don't know if we're going to end up covering it in anything other than just paint.
But I need that piece because I the the truck hasn't had door panels on it.
And, you know, in a year, because they won't go on with with the new,
you know, one piece glass conversion on it.
So I don't think it's a big job.
It's just going to take some creativity to look at it and go.
We got to finish this off and get the felt to work.
But the right guy can do.
Yeah, the right guy can do it.
So I got to I got to get it back out there and kind of have the conversation with it.
We've got all the pieces and stuff that we need to it.
But inside the door, the the the new mirror needs to attach to the inside
of door and there's a backing plate.
And when we looked at it, when we were doing it, the glass is going to have to come out.
I think the glass has to come out so we can access inside the door where the
mirror is going to mount.
And then the glass will have to go back in and then we'll finish the door panel
and the felt will kind of hold it, you know, that felt strip will hold it in place.
But yeah, I kind of looking forward to get that portion done and get the door
panels back on.
It's kind of a pain in the ass to drive it without the door panels on it.
Because there's all this kind of bare metal and kind of cuts you,
scratches you, cuts you, can't close it.
Then you feel like it's incomplete, too.
Yeah, because I mean, there's a lot of stuff to do on the truck, but the interior,
there's not like the interior is because we had it done for SEMA years ago when we
had that truck in the Magnaflow booth, not the one piece glass, side glass,
but the interior was done.
We put some Alcantara pieces in it.
We did like a suede or Alcantara headliner and it built the audio system for it.
And it came out nice and presented well at the Magnaflow booth years ago.
But now that we've done that glass conversion and then the rear glass on the
cab of the truck, it's got it's it's got a flush glass conversion.
So instead of the piece of glass on it with that big, thick,
you know, rubber that goes around the the rear glass, the channel of it,
and it sticks out like a quarter of an inch.
And it just, I don't know, just looks weird.
Now it's just got a cleaner, much more modern look.
But the glass is tinted and the truck is black.
So now it just kind of looks like it's flush black, you know,
off to the, you know, in the back.
So yeah, it came out good.
It's just little little touches, you know, getting the one piece glass,
getting the new billet mirrors that we made, getting the new billet, you know,
door handles that we made, those were seracoded and like a satin black.
So the offsets a little bit on the gloss black truck.
You went through this on the Cobra as well when you were looking at different
kind of different textures or do a satin or do a flat versus the, you know,
the shiny. So it's, yeah, so it's still all black,
but it just kind of has a little bit different versions.
Yeah, but it's cool.
Anyway, it came out cool.
I just got to get the door panel stuff done.
All right, let's, I mean, the trim remains,
the trim remains that I've got to go ahead.
I was going to say, we're going to take a quick break and then we'll be right back.

In your studio there, in your office, we talked about you doing the film on all of those windows
and you can hit the button and it goes from opaque to clear, right?
This technology that they're using that they were explaining to you.
The smart tip, right? So you're doing it right now, so yeah.
It's now available on cars. Is that where you were going?
So yeah, so this technology, I've seen this before on cars like
at the SEMA show and stuff you can do because it's a thin layer, like a tint layer, right?
But you send electricity through it and can change it from opaque to not.
So one of the recent patents that Porsche filed was using that technology on the car,
on the exterior of the car. So imagine you've got, even like your Cobra,
but your Cobra has like a two-tone, like a racing stripe on it, like Shelby stripes on it.
Or the Porsche 911 can have a stripe on it or like one of the GT3 cars or whatever the stripe on it.
But it could be dialed in to different modes of the car.
So when you put the car in sport mode or sport plus mode,
it could activate that and turn the stripe on.
So if you're driving a black car, you could have a red stripe
illuminate on the car in sport mode.
Now I'm sure there are other uses for it, like on an electric,
like the Taycan, when it's charging, it can glow or pulsate or whatever when it's charging.
It can, you know, of course, the different modes to it.
You can kind of change it up on the fly.
Certainly in racing, you know, if there was, I don't know, a yellow flag,
you can make a yellow stripe on it to notify other drivers that it's going yellow.
It's just kind of an interesting use of the technology now.
But I did that on the pace car.
Yeah, right.
So you could, you know, do it on, you could do it on a pace car.
You can do it in racing.
I can see it being used quite a bit, right?
Because you can any of the endurance races, right?
They have sort of the glowing stickers and some of the numbers that are backlit.
And you can have, you could do more with it.
Now, with a race car, you know, you start to look at every gram of weight, right?
So now you're going, well, what am I using to function this thing?
But on a street car, it's an interesting thing.
But, you know, in the, in the 90s, early 90s, you know, especially, I was in South Florida.
So in South Florida, everyone was doing that underglow, you know,
a street glow thing going on underneath the car.
And I remember back in the day, like people would drive their cars,
like you have an all black car and they would drive around with no lights on at night,
seriously dangerous, but with just like a purple glow underneath it.
And, you know, you look at it and go, oh, that's interesting.
It looks kind of cool.
It looks like some kind of alien thing, but wildly dangerous.
Like you shouldn't be doing that without any lights on at all.
So I wonder the legality of doing this.
I can understand like if you have your electric Taycan or Cayenne now and you want to,
you see it plugged in and it's, you know, pulsating blue or green or whatever,
or shows you when it's charged, it changes color.
But on the street, I don't know.
You know, I don't, it's a neat idea.
And I like the technology, but it's a little gimmicky.
A little gimmicky.
Hey, choices.
Yeah.
How's your NEOs that Wanda's driving?
I still can't get into some bits very comfortably.
Well, she, hey, at the end of the day, as long as she loves it, it's all the matter.
She is infatuated with it.
She loves parking it next to G wagons to make them look kind of inferior and goofy and
pretentious.
She absolutely loves the vehicle.
She's only got like 8,000 miles on it.
We've had a couple of years, but I can't get her out of the F-250.
You guys were early adopters on the NEOs when it came out.
I know you guys got it.
They've, they've been selling it for three years now.
And they've already sold 35,000 of these, of these trucks worldwide, which for a startup
car company, you know, that's, that's pretty significant.
And now they're, they're looking to grow.
They've, they've been working on deals on selling them like, like fleet sales.
So emergency services, utilities, rentals, even the military, different parts of, of,
of the world, not necessarily just here in the U.S.
I think in the U.S., they have a deal with like Hertz.
I think it's Hertz rent a car in North America.
And then there's some fire and rescue services like in Japan, sorry,
Germany, Spain and France, where they're going to use them as, as, you know,
first responder vehicles, emergency vehicles, which is kind of an interesting idea because
those trucks, they're kind of, you can, you can get sort of the bare bone version.
So they're just more of an off-roader, but also you can gear them up.
Like you can, all sorts of racks and, and, and storage and, and you know,
kind of build them out like you would a Land Rover or a Jeep and outfit them for all sorts
of emergency services.
So it sounds like that company is going to stick around for a while.
That I think as I make, I think, I think first and foremost, they're, they're needed to be
something different in that space that was not as expensive as the current high echelon vehicles
were one that was more utilitarian.
And I think this fit the bill a thousand percent, whether it's the styling of the old versus new
or just a minimalistic styling of it.
I mean, it's really, hey, I got to say the positives are, are, are in that it's a completely
different unique vehicle.
Number one, number two, it's capable.
Number three, the price point.
And we have, we don't, there are only two issues with that vehicle that we've found
over the past three years.
And those issues don't present.
Well, the one issue doesn't present itself to Wanda, but I can't, I can't get in that vehicle
without, you know, because my head hits, it's really uncomfortable to get in.
I got to say, and getting and driving it, it's extremely uncomfortable for me because
I'm a little bit wider than the normal human being.
The biggest issue on that vehicle is, you know how the, how the Ford truck or with the
inability for the, to have really good turning radius.
This thing is fricking worse.
It's, it's horrible.
I mean, it's like, it's like 18 point turn in a fricking 18 wheeler.
It's, it's really, so to use it as a emergency vehicle, I don't, I don't know.
I mean, you need to fix that, like badly.
Yes, I spoke to, I spoke to Alistair about the Ineos.
They had another one in that they were testing, I believe.
And the newest version of the, of the truck does have some changes to the steering.
I, I don't know the specs specifically if it's a tighter turning radius, but it is,
it is a more responsive steering.
They made some improvements to it.
So they, as a young company, they, they saw that that was an issue and they are starting
to address that.
And I, I think braking was another issue that, I don't know where they are on addressing that,
but in the, in the Edmunds test track, great for off road and all that stuff, but like in,
in emergency braking, like on the freeway, it was, it, it didn't perform all that great.
Like it stopped, it just took quite a bit of time, more, more road to stop.
But the steering issue, I think, is something that they've just addressed.
Yeah. I don't think there's a retrofit for this.
It's just a very cumbersome, it's just a cumbersome vehicle.
It, I mean, it's a little top heavy.
But with a couple alterations, I could see it being a fire and rescue, you know.
Yeah, imagine their versions of the vehicles are going to be the stripped down versions
of it, right? Not the luxury $100,000 versions that are selling to, to the public, a stripped down
version. And, and I'm sure to go to them and, and upfit it with, like we said,
certain racks and, and storage on the inside and medical stuff or first responder stuff or,
or, you know, road maintenance, you know, all stuff like that, and maybe a less expensive
version even just for the rental fleet. I think people are kind of looking at it going,
oh, that's a cool little off-roader. I don't need it to be a $100,000 truck.
But if, but if I can go to my, you know, go to Utah and my, my local Hertz,
you know, has a few there to rent, it could be a cool fun, you know, weekend or off-roader.
I think it's also a good selling point for the vehicle because it gives more people the opportunity
to experience it, right? Yeah. And, you know, coming back to Denver this last weekend,
what an appropriate place to have that thing in the fleet, you know?
Yeah. Yeah, that's right. You guys are out there for the football game, doing a little hiking.
At least that's what I saw from, well, I think Wanda's pictures taking it out there hiking.
Yeah. Well, I was there, I hope I was there too, but they airlifted me in and out.
Yeah. I'm not, I'm not a big Nike for many reasons, but I think the,
yeah, I don't like the fall. So, um, yeah, it was absolutely beautiful up there. Gage takes
advantage of being where he is and goes out and explores, but it gives me the EVGVs to be up so
high and so close to the edge. I'm not a fan. Oh, I love it up there. It does provide for a good
background. I was, I was kind of traveling back and forth to Colorado for like a summer,
almost every weekend. And I, you know, but the weather was nice and it was great. And that was
the time to do it. And I was just high. Well, yeah, that's when they for you. Right. Yeah, you go
after me. The weather is beautiful as it is right now for like three months. And then you get punched
in the face. You know, the heat, the heat's different there quite obviously, but after,
yeah, fall starts coming around, man. You forget all about those beautiful times in the spring
and you're prepping, you know, to dig out. So, yeah, false advertising. Yeah.
Let's see. What else is going on? The Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend, I'm going to head out
there on Sunday and then the air water event, the Porsche air water event is coming up. So,
leading up to that, we often see some more news from Porsche and they just,
they just announced the GT3 SC, which is their sport convertible.
So now you can get the GT3 in a rag top, which is kind of interesting.
Look, it looks good. If you're a convertible person, it looks good.
They try to build in some standard features in it. So one of their big things was to make it
lightweight so it still competes performance wise with the coupe. So carbon fiber doors,
carbon fiber fenders, lightweight materials, there's some magnesium in it. The convertible
top mechanism is all made to be lighter and it looks cool. Overall, like it looks awesome.
It is not cheap, as you would expect. Yeah, it's just going to say,
what's this thing come out at 300? Yeah. So it's going to be, it's 275,000,
but it was interesting because when they send, so they send out the press release and stuff a
little bit ahead of time and we signed, like there's a, like a, like an NDA and you got to,
you know, release all the information a certain amount of time, but they wanted to point out
that there are a lot of standard features in that price compared to the GT3 coupe, the magnesium
wheels, carbon ceramic brakes, a lot of the lightweight stuff that are all going to be
standard in it. So they said, you know, it's $275,000, but they said, if you optioned up a GT3
with the same options on the convertible, it would come out to be about 11 grand less than on the
coupe because they come standard on the convertible where you'd have to option them up on the coupe.
So either the coupe or the convertible is a better deal or the options on the coupe are just too
expensive, you know, but, you know, they got to do something. Porsche is having a hard time.
They, you know, financially, they are not in the best of shape and have some catching up to do.
Unfortunately for them, there was a lot of money invested into EV technology and the sales did
not support that investment. So they, they definitely have some catching up to do.
Yeah. Let's see what else is going on before we wrap up.
Did you see the Pantera? Jim Farley's Pantera? Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford, is selling,
he's selling a Pantera on Bring a Trailer. Now, he bought it on Bring a Trailer a couple of years
ago. This is the yellow car. So those of you guys listening, this show will post Thursday morning
and the auction ends midday Thursday. So if you do hear this, you can jump on and get a bit in,
or you can just go and check it out and see the car and, and the comments. So this, the car has
an interesting story because it was part of this Ford aeronautical division. So it was like a Ford
car back in the, in the, in the seventies and it was, it was put in a museum for a while and then
kind of a weird thing was like, it was on Bring a Trailer in 2018. And then I think somebody came out
to test drive it and damage the car when they test drove it. So they had to pull the listing down
from Bring a Trailer. Then the car was fixed and put back up in 24, 2024 and then Farley bought it.
And since then he's, he's, he's put a few thousand miles on it. He had a great team in Wisconsin
really, really kind of dial it in. So if you go through the, the videos and the walkthrough of
this thing, I mean, it fires up, it runs great. Everything works. Every chime, ding, buzzer,
lamp, you know, interior lamp, everything just seems to really work on it. And this picture that
we're seeing right here, he did like a seracoded bronze on the, on the wheels, which are kind of cool.
Redid the interior with the houndstooth, which came out great. Anyway, it's a cool piece.
It's got some modifications to the engine. It's got the Edelbrock heads,
Edelbrock intake manifold. We seracoded the exhaust, it did the whole exhaust and it's new
clutch, new flywheel. So now someone's going to get a really nice driver, Pantera out of it with,
you know, with, with a little bit of history here, not just Ford's history, but Jim Farley's
history. So if you're a Pantera fan, another one of these cars that I don't know you'd fit well in,
but it's a cool piece. Yeah. Well, that's why I'm not listening to anything you're saying,
because it's a waste of time for me. But yeah, it's an absolutely beautiful car. I tried to get
one of those years and years ago and with the fix, with the inability to move. I mean, it's like a
Viper, right? So yeah, I can't, yeah. It's absolutely measured. All right, but you have a Viper.
No, I don't. I'm housing a Viper. It's not mine. Okay. Right? Yeah. All right. I don't know who's
it is. It's a killer car, man. It's a great piece for somebody to have. They're a Ford guy,
I mean, to get one of Farley's ex-cars. I mean, that's in itself is cool as shit.
Yeah. And it's a cool piece that you can drive. It doesn't have to sit and just be a collector,
because it's got some modifications to it. So it's, you know, I mean, it's still pretty low miles,
like 35,000 miles. So, you know, drive it, have fun. Yeah. And you know that if,
and if you know that it came from Farley, those are more than tasteful, you know, upgrades.
And you know that the car was driven, right? So it sounds like a really cool piece.
Yeah. He drove it to work a few times. They posted one of the videos of just like him leaving the
Ford parking garage at work one day, because he just drove, he drove his backyard to work,
which yeah, why not? All right, we're going to wrap things up. Is there anything else?
Anything else we need to touch on?
I'm just praying for it to be no rain, because if I'm caught in that cobra in the rain,
I'm just going to cry. I don't know what I'm going to do.
Yeah. It's a scary one out there. All right. All right. We're going to wrap things up.
Thanks guys. Until next time, keep the air in the spare in the bag and the wheel.

About this episode
Bill Goldberg and Matthew Motorator swap garage stories and build updates, focusing on a Cobra’s interior redo: fixing carpet thickness issues, reworking the center console for a new TKX shifter and drift brake, and dialing in Dakota Digital gauges and throttle clearance. They also discuss a Lightning door-panel fabrication job for a one-piece glass conversion and a 3-way speaker setup. Later, the conversation shifts to Ineos Grenadier ownership—its strengths, but especially steering/turning-radius and braking concerns for emergency use—plus Porsche’s new GT3 S/C convertible and Jim Farley’s Bring a Trailer Pantera sale.
