Five years ago, I was paying $65 a month for my subscriptions.
Today, those same subscriptions cost $111, and I don't even use half of them anymore.
That's why now, I use rocket money to manage my subscriptions for me.
The app gives you a list of all your subscriptions and reminds you of upcoming payments so you're not hit with any surprise charges.
On top of that, it also sends you alerts when subscription prices go up, so you always know the price you're paying.
If you decide you no longer want a subscription, you can cancel it right from the app.
No customer service needed.
And the best part is, Rocket Money even reaches out and tries to get you refunded for some of the money you lost.
On average, people that cancel their subscriptions with Rocket Money save $378 a year.
And overall, Rocket Money has saved its members $880 million in canceled subscriptions.
Stop wasting money on things you don't use.

I didn't even realize I was wasting $415 a month until I downloaded Rocket Money.
I thought I had my finances under control until the app laid out all my spending and categorized it for me.
Takeout, shopping, and unused subscriptions were quietly draining my account.
And as a result of that, I was able to save $415 a month.
But Rocket Money doesn't just tell you what you're wasting money on.
It takes action to save you money.
First, the app looks at your income and monthly expenses
and calculates how much you can safely spend each day to stay on your budget.
Rocket Money also finds and cancels unwanted subscriptions for you
and even negotiates better rates on your bills
so you have more money to spend on.

Global EV sales reached 1.7 million last month in August,
up 5% from July, up 15% from the same time last year,
according to Roemotion.
Pure BEVs were 1.16 million of the 1.7 million,
the remainder being plug-in hybrids,
year-to-date sales of plug-ins, 12.5 million.
That's up 25% on the year-to-date sales of 2024.
Hold on. No, I've seen articles saying
so-and-so has canceled this car because no one's buying EVs
or this car company's slowing down its EV plan
because no one's buying EVs.
Oh, that'll be a 25% growth rate?
Ah, Europe is actually the highest growth rate,
up 31% year-to-date.
Germany, 45% year-to-date.
I mean, I told you recently how Germans are falling back in love
with EVs after some of the incentives disappeared.
Spain's doubled volumes.
France had a bit of a wobble,
but otherwise seasonal shifts saw the UK once again
do really well and become, along with Germany,
the two big EV markets over here
are in the European region.
Of course, the UK has the new government plug-in grant,
so the Ford Puma Gen E and the E-Tornado Courier
get that full 3,750 pounds off.
The Chinese also doing big market share increases here.
North America recorded its best month on record in August.
That can't be true. I keep seeing the headlines.
So-and-so's car model is being delayed by two years
because of the slowdown in EVs.
It can't possibly be that North America had its best month on record.
Don't understand the data.
Or maybe the headlines are wrong.
Who'd have thunked it?
Analysts expect a even stronger September.
Obviously, the expiration of the federal tax credit
is skewing the market in China.
OK, so the big growth rate numbers of 40%, 50%, 60%
weren't there, but that's where the CUME is coming from.
That's where the volume is coming from,
where the growth rate is up a meager 25%.
OK, let's move on.
Now, I recently made a special Patreon bonus show
all about Ford.
In fact, it was last night, so what's that?
That's the 14th of September.
I made a special all about Ford in Europe.
There was a time when it seemed every second driveway
in Britain or Germany had a Ford parked in its school runs
in fiestas, commutes in focuses.
The Blue Oval had a pride of place in government fleets
and in police pools as well.
That's all changed for Ford.
They went through a time when the Fiesta was the number one
in this country, number one car sold for 12 straight years
in a row.
Didn't miss a beat.
It's all changed.
It's all gone.
Ford have let cars like the Fiesta go, the Focus,
the Montejo, and they replaced them with cars
like the Explorer and Capri.
Good cars, but not Ford prices.
For instance, you can spec the Capri up to almost
£60,000.
And the basic one, the basic Ford Explorer in the
small battery that they get from VW, of course,
is £40,000.
Now, we do have the new Ford Puma,
and that's a really important car to arrive
because although it was initially on sale at £30,000,
the UK government grant has kicked in.
And so if you go on, that's knocked a ton of money off.
Ford have reduced it as well.
If you do go on to Carwow, which I did yesterday,
there's loads of places you can look at car prices,
but I did a Carwow search, and you can get that car now
for £24,350.
This is UK pound sterling I'm talking about, by the way.
So £24.5 a bit under.
So that's a more sensible price for a car
that is very small but really efficient,
actually.
And we'll do 233 miles on a WLTP.
But there's nothing that sits lower than the Puma.
And by the way, a ton of choice under that price.
Listen to the special podcast I did last night.
It's half hour long.
I'm sorry.
I'm a big Ford fan.
I grew up wanting fast Fords.
They were the, you know, that were my posters
on my bedroom wall of, you know,
RS's and Cosys with big wings and stuff like that
was my fantasy because there was attainable
and they were quick.
And then, you know, probably watching touring car racing
and seeing fast Fords.
And so, it heartbreaking to see what's happened
to them over here.
Just a series of models not being around,
previous management making bad decisions,
factories closing and underestimating
the Chinese coming in.
And so there's nothing under the Puma.
And then there's nothing between the Puma
and a 40 grand Explorer.
Well, the new focus, it's going to be an SUV
because everything's an SUV
or at least a crossover shape.
It's coming in 2027.
This is auto car reporting.
This wasn't a press release from Ford, by the way.
This is auto car reporting 2027.
It'll be made in the Valencia plant,
which is in Spain.
And the new model follows the closure
of mainstream cars like Fiesta and Focus.
This should be called the new Focus.
I wouldn't even put EV in the name.
I'd call it the Ford Focus like they did with Capri,
although the Capri's not a Capri.
And that got pushed back
because they were just recycling a name
they had in their arsenal.
But I would make this as focused like as they can.
Now Valencia can make 300,000 vehicles,
but they'll do that a mix of EV and hybrid.
It's going to be built on the C2 platform.
And so Ford is developing
the new universal EV platform,
the UEVP in the U.S.
I would just presume that a car coming in 2027
would be on that.
But no, auto car reporting says the C2 platform
was previously used for the Focus.
Never for EVs.
Okay.
Obviously it has to do a job for Ford
with things like European emissions targets
and things like that.
And it needs to come in under 30,000 pounds
because by then you want the Puma to be discounted
and monthly offers.
So sorry, Ford.
Get over your premium little fling
that you had.
I go into a lot my recommendations to Ford.
No one at Ford cares what I think.
I'm an idiot.
But I do go into a series of things they can do
leaning into things like their commercial division
where they do lead with the Ford Transit.
They're the market leader there.
Is there a place for Ford tough, built tough,
built Ford tough in over here?
Well, we don't like pickups.
So maybe not.
But they don't have any mainstream cars
in the EV world to sell us for now.
So hopefully a couple of years away,
Ford Focus is not too SUV-ish
and they can make it look
like people think a Focus should look like.
They're never going back to, you know,
a 12% market share in Europe.
However, they certainly need to stop getting beaten by
everybody else.
OK, let's move on.
European automotive leaders are urging
a reassessment of the European Union's
2035 ban on pure combustion.
It's 10 years away.
So in 10 years time, all we need to do is make sure
that zero emission vehicles are in a place
where it will suit the majority of cases.
And there's a ton of exceptions, by the way,
for small car makers.
And it's not a one-size-fits-all.
As you know, the car makers tend to have
a bit of a complain and comply mindset.
They have a good old whinge about what they're being told
to do, whether that's emissions regulations
tightening for the last decades.
And they always hit it in the end.
And the cars are better because of it,
some people would argue.
However, the automotive leaders are still saying
that we can't possibly hit 2035.
Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kellenius
arguing that the current targets aren't practical.
EU officials and environmental advocates
defend the deadline as crucial for meeting climate targets.
Vehicles are lasting 15, 20, 25 years.
Modern vehicles are so efficient and reliable
that even in 2034 on New Year's Eve
as the clock strikes midnight
and you buy one of the last pure combustion cars,
it's still going to be on the road in 2050.
Like, let's not forget that.
No one's taking them out of your hands
on that deadline.
It's just a new passenger car rule
for companies that sell lots of vehicles.
Right?
And so why wouldn't we want to get there?
Because the Chinese are heading there
and they want to sell those cars to Europeans.
And if the European car makers,
as Ford is now finding out,
Ford of Europe to a very, very painful extent,
we'll just buy something else.
Nah, we want to buy VWs and Mercedes
and the Stellantis brands.
But some of the Chinese brands are actually very good.
And although the European Commission
reaffirmed its commission commitment
to a full fossil fuel phase out,
the member states within the EU
want flexibility.
Italy wants biofuel, exemptions.
France wants for an ongoing political debate.
The dynamics of the market reflect
China's plug-in vehicle share skyrocketing
over the last five to 10 years.
Although this has really been, you know,
the move to EV in China's been part of their plan
for, you know, 20-plus years.
However, Audi's CEO supports rapid electrification
as a superior technology.
And so this one's going to go round and round.
But there was a big meeting last Friday
where they hoped that some concessions would be given.
Concessions were not given.
They were reminded 2035 is the line in the sand.
Can you please hit it?
All right, let's move on.
Toyota will begin building its first
US-made EVs next year at the Georgetown Kentucky facility.
There's going to be two three-row SUVs planned.
One derived from the Land Cruiser
and another expected to follow the RAV4,
both using a new EV platform from Toyota
to make room.
Production of the Lexus ES goes to Japan.
The move targets America's growing trend
for large electric SUVs
while reducing exposure to tariffs
and making the cars in the US.
Kentucky will invest 1.3 billion,
or rather, Toyota will invest 1.3 billion
in the Kentucky facility,
adding jobs and a new battery pack line.
Toyota sells only the BZ4X in the United States.
Though more electrified models are on the way,
they have one in China that I was talking about today
on EV News China, the spin-off podcast of this.
Still in the same feed if you want to listen to it,
if not just delete it.
And we're talking about the Toyota BZ7.
This is, you know, from a side profile,
a German saloon sedan.
It's an Audi.
It's a BMW.
It's a Mercedes-Benz.
It's a Tesla Model S from the side profile.
Look up front, and it's a bit more of the Toyota face,
but otherwise, cracking vehicle
that the rest of us won't get.
What's that?
I said a nice thing about Toyota.
I'll have a little lie down in a moment.
Now, let's talk a little bit about Nissan
and the Micra.
And they had an event in Rotterdam
to showcase the sixth-gen Micra,
now offered exclusively as a full bev.
It's a little hatchback built on the
AMPR small car platform.
It weighs 1,500 kilograms, 2.5-metre wheelbase.
And yeah, of course, it's developed alongside
Renault.
And the Renault 5 is a great vehicle.
The Nissan Micra looks like a great vehicle,
which was a proper little mini car
back in the day.
The Micra was, you know,
Nissan wouldn't have wanted the Micra
to be thought of as a, you know,
a little old lady's car.
But early doors, the Micra was definitely known
as a little old lady's car.
And so Nissan obviously went to great lengths
to broaden the market appeal of the Micra
these days because of safety and
generally cars getting fat.
The Micra is a lot bigger than it used to be,
but they've been showing it off now.
Low center of gravity,
multi-link rear suspension, direct steering
for making a fun little car to drive.
18-inch wheels, short overhangs.
Look, you've seen the Renault 5.
And so it's been, you know, Nissan.
It's got a low-seating position,
dual 10.1-inch displays,
built-in for maps and assistant and play store.
Two battery choices.
Again, this is the, you know,
the deal with the Renault.
But it's 40 kilowatt hour and 52 kilowatt hour,
260 miles WLTP,
100 kilowatt DC fast charging vehicle
to load. And it can even
tow. The Micra will lead
Nissan's European expansion
alongside the new Leaf,
the new EV Duke,
and a new A-segment EV
coming in the next two years.
Half, they say, that's only one-half thousand pounds.
After the government grant
is taken off, you know, wait for the office
to kick in is what I would say, and it'll be
even less than that. And finally,
before we take a break,
Stellantis has cancelled
the all-electric Ram
pickup truck. That was called the Ram
1500
Rev. Which is odd, because
you think REV is range extended vehicle,
but it was called the 1500 Rev. And it was all
electric. And then they're only going to make
a plug-in hybrid version now
called the Ram
Rev. And then other outlets I saw today
referred to it as the Ram e-rev
and some called it the Ram
Reeve for range extended
electric vehicle, R-E-E-V.
Which is that term is used a little bit more in China.
We are starting to talk about
e-revs a bit more, which tends to be
there's no definite definition
as I've said many times lately, but it tends to be
the engine never drives the wheels
and it's got a bigger battery than a typical
plug-in hybrid. You know
BMW invented that and others
did as well. Long before
the i3 Rex. But anyway, new term
and everyone decides they want to buy an e-rev.
Stellantis is facing
financial pressures, their parent company.
They cancelled plans for the larger
battery option already and now the original
Ram 1500 Rev announced
a CES a couple of years ago with 500 miles
of range, 229
kilowatt hour battery was pushed back
in the back in the back in the back. It was going to be
26 now it's been dropped completely
as I think
it's probably smart for Ram.
What do you think? That they've looked to the
F-150 Lightning, they've looked at
this Cybertruck and they've looked
at the Rivian R1-T and all the competitors
and they realized that
a lot of people drive their trucks for leisure
and that's fine. And then a lot of people
who drive their trucks to tow and to
work when they get
an EV and realize that when you start
towing big trailers that are not aerodynamic
and
you can see the gauge going down and it
happens with diesel, obviously you just don't
see it as obviously, but
they complain very bitterly
and loudly and so sensible
for Ram to back away from a full
bed for now, let battery technology
improve, they'll combine the new
Ram Rev
no longer called Ram Charger
I know I couldn't keep up either with this story
so the Ram Rev is dead and long live the Ram Rev
Ram Charger is dead but
this is the Ram Charger, big battery pack
gasoline generator
they've given it 690 miles of combined
range, Stalantis
had almost 50% drop
in profit for the first half of the
year so
they're having to make some changes, now we'll take a break
we'll come back, we'll talk about Mary Barra
from GM saying EVs, they're still the North Star
you know and Amazon
having a little tickle with GM's bright drop van
stick around back in a mo.

Hey welcome back to the podcast last few stories
GM's CEO Mary Barrow reaffirming
their long-term goal to go all
electric signing is still our North Star
during the automotive news
Congress GM first set
2035 as the target for converting
every vehicle it makes
light duty at least to be all EV
that was reiterated
as late as 2023
since then they've said that
the shift might take a little bit longer
and that they will still do it
but maybe not by 2035
that it could take decades Mary Barrow emphasizing
strategic decisions require
careful timing yeah that's
they do don't they
big decisions need to be taken at the right
time that's why you get paid
the big bucks Mary
sorry I'm particularly spicy
today aren't I but um
yeah I mean she's right but she gets well
compensated to make strategic decisions
with careful thinking so you know
you tick the box
on the job description her comments
highlight both GM's
unwavering commitment to EVs but also
a pragmatic recognition
to an all EV future I mean
I'm completely on board with that let's just do the best
we can and it'll happen at the speed it happens
Norway happened at the speed it happens and it's
98% now pure bed
and so we'll all get there at our own
speeds as they say on bluey
which if you're not a parent you probably haven't
watched bluey run your own
race
I love that phrase I love most
Aussie phrases to be honest with you
but I particularly love that one I bluey
run your own race
yeah we'll do it our own speed that's cool
Amazon is running their own race
by going electric they've also got a big partnership
with Rivian they're a massive investor in
Rivian they take a 16%
stake of the business with the electric delivery
and a hundred thousand of those on order
but now they're having a little look at GM's bright drop vans
over a dozen
bright drops are now on the road
Amazon probably working out whether that would fit
into their all electric future
fleets Volvo recently
brought back their former CEO Huck and Samuelson
on a two year deal to steady the ship
as they search his for a new permanent successor
Samuelson led Volvo from 2012
to 2022 very very
successfully by the way telling
Bloomberg that
the scale of challenges ahead
shouldn't be underestimated but
committing Volvo to an all electric
future he said that the auto industry's
EV future is inevitable
though the pace will vary across regions
yeah I mean yeah obviously
within a decade he says cars
will be fully electric and affordable
but in a different competitive landscape
saying that only a few Chinese
brands will
end up as emerging
as survivors
he said survival may hinge on agility
and obviously they're owned by
Geely the Chinese parent company
but he said other companies will fail
he didn't name companies that will
fail acknowledging that not all traditional
cars will adapt Tesla, Rivian, BYD
Xiaomi illustrate how a new
comer can come along and reshape the
entire market now here's a follow-up
on the Hyundai LG Georgia battery
plant that will actually face
some significant delays following the
US immigration raids recently
the $7.6 billion complex
was meant to begin production this year
and it's at the heart of
Hyundai's EV on American soil
the raid though described by the US
as the largest single site enforcement
operation in homeland security history
detained 475 workers
and 300 South Koreans
the workers have been flown home
now both governments are discussing
visa programs that
support skilled labor needs
Hyundai CEO though
Jose Munoz
saying he was surprised by the raid
and clarified the workers involved were
employed by LG and their suppliers
not Hyundai directly
stressing the specialized expertise is required
for building things like battery plants
to offset the delays Hyundai will rely
on battery from other facilities
but it's going to be putting them back months
they say. Scout motors CEO
Scott Keough said the company favours direct sales
over dealer ships
comparing buying a car from a dealer
stopping at best buy
he said direct sales is the right strategy
likening it to buying directly from
Apple online
saying it's a better brand experience
if you don't own that then what do you even have
he says a separate item in the coverage noting
that the scout CEO
dismissed a lot of the dealer
complaints about the fact that
scout motors is not basically Volkswagen
they've been saying
aren't you basically Volkswagen
saying that you can
sell directly because we're not VW
he said that all of that from the dealers
is just and I quote
a bunch of noise
oof right okay
also a lot of noise if I'm going to quote him
that was exactly looking at my notes here
exactly what he said
okay well not looking to make
any friends in the
dealers association which of course
is rumbling through the courts now
because they argue it's just a VW and the scout
should stick to the VW contract with
the dealers
while several main school districts
got their Lyon
electric school buses through a federal
program expectations were high
for clean and quiet rides to take the kiddos to school
two years later many of those buses
are now sidelined and parked up
no word on repairs or support from Lyon
electric or the government actually
or even guidance on what do we do now
main school districts
struggling with electric buses from Lyon
electric bought under the federal program that
requires either keeping them
which they are happy to do if they work
or paying back nearly four hundred
thousand dollars
per bus from the school districts
budget and that's not fair
so don't do that
since Lyon entered bankruptcy last December
any parts
or support tickets have gone unanswered
leaving buses sidelined
because of break issues
high voltage warnings sudden power loss
in Yarmouth a one hundred thousand dollar
rebate more than offset the extra
infrastructure and consulting expenses
that they had to go through to get the EV
school buses but in many towns
the buses are now sitting unused
because there's problems and they're
broken they need maintenance
and there's no one to help them
they faced wiring and where problems
one technician describing the fleet
as prototype grade
and flawed in even the basic
12 volt systems the main department
of education says the program is
federally overseen by the EPA
but it has created an emergency
replacement option for districts
in need the EPA
say they're monitoring the bankruptcy of
Lyon Electric Lyon faces a federal
lawsuit over misleading investors
and was sold in July for only six million
dollars from the earlier four
point seven billion
valuation and yes the
current owners of that
I'm sure are doing
what they're doing with the business but
answering requests from school districts
to please fix our buses
not replying to them
it seems and that is
brutally unfair
