Kimber Kimber was the one line that's wrong about white line.
Yeah, this is this is the, this is what So, if you ever watch The Lion King with your cat Scotty and you can't be like, well, if that should be me, why am I like this puny little cat?
Why? I like a fool light and then he
does this little puny meow. Yeah, how are you fellas.
Good grief. Thank you.
Don't pretty good. Thanks.
Good to see all your lovely faces.
Let's get into some updates. Got off the bat.
We start with you Scotty, you're pounding the cats.
So you can go from there. All right?
Did a bit of work on the weekend not the previous weekend because I wasn't on last week's show. So I was a bit sick over that
weekend so nothing got done on that one and that I had something on that Tuesday night. But here I am last weekend.
I got a new water temp sensor. I got a new oxygen sensor.
I got new steering rack boots. Good.
So you can breathe. Voices Gotti and hadn't arrived
yet, but it has arrived Now, new ignition coil for it as well, because I wanted to figure out what this Miss is, that's happening. So when it warms up, it's got to
slight Miss in the engine. We feel it and hear it drops.
Oh. Okay.
But I think I'm on a fixed. It could have been the O2 sensor
that was pure filth. Could have been the water temp
sensor. I've heard that can make things
play up to. So that's why I've got a new one
of those, they're all cheap anyway, so Easy.
Replace. That one was all like, Rusty the
old water temp sensor with took me like not even 10 minutes to change both, they all came off nicely.
I thought that O2 sensor will be a pain, but that broke free real easily. It's like, some sort of magical
thing. It seems to make it.
I reckon people. She's replace them.
Anyway. It's so down a whole lot of
problems. Yeah, it really would.
Hmm. And start it up and let it run
for quite a while and I didn't hear that.
Same message again. Science would have cleared that
one up. Pulled apart.
The three-piece rims. Have a look for this crack that
we thought existed. So we took the first, the first
bit off the bolts were rusted. That was a bit of a pain but we
figured out a way to get all those off.
Only one of them. Of course, the last one, it's
always nice angle. Grinder it off the last night,
but all the others came off. So that was about 20 of them, 20
volts on it. All right, and when we're
getting around, where we thought the crack was, when we started on doing those bolts, you could really hear the air escaping and pouring out, local must be decent crap.
Take it off. No crack whatsoever.
And it turns out that because it's a three-piece.
So once you remove that bit that bolts the face, and then the two pieces together. I know it's hard to explain
Without you being able to see me through the kitchen and focus listeners at home. He's clapping and he's doing a
Clubby motion and trying to explain what it is.
I'm trying to explain it. It's like words are not working,
it's all Hands-On explicitly. I don't know if I don't really
know the the words for I'm not really, you know, that technical when it comes to you three-piece rims and all that kind of stuff.
I didn't even know. That's what they do with
three-piece Wheels. But, you know, it's you got the
face and then the two pieces stick together.
So but the inside bit where it joins is not joining.
It looks like they only used a bit of like the adhesive silicon in a few little spots. Yeah.
Instead of using it all the way around.
I'm pretty sure you meant to do. Yeah, you meant to do it all in
between where the bolts go but they didn't.
And this It's obviously come a bit loose because it's not sitting flush properly and is just seeping out are from it.
So I guess in a way that's good, news is no crack in it.
It's just wasn't done properly to begin with.
So did a copper knock, did it? Are we gonna put all the
something? Yeah.
Could off. Ye could have easily so cool on
the road in Melbourne. Really never never.
But at least that's no drama. No welding or anything needed.
The rims are in perfect condition it just needs.
I think you can use like sikaflex.
Yeah, that's a good adhesive silicon to put a bead in between its two get together, I gotta get some new bolts.
For it to so because we're not going to use those old rusted ones. Again, I want fresh ones on
there. Just make sure you use high,
tensile ones. Yeah, I'm just gonna google and
find the proper ones that they use for the three-piece room.
So if I can find those ones and get the right sizing as well, I should be sweet for you. So premium rooms over, Scottie
work work. Yeah.
But just very old work rims period-correct period.
Correct. That's exactly right.
Yeah, that's the word I was after.
Yep. Think that's all I did.
Oh, that's right. I started changing the bushes as
well, but I've only done one side.
Okay. So it's got a new sway bar,
mount Bush. And the sway bar link, which is
as well, which was pretty funny. When I was doing that, dropped
it all off and Like all these washes and that came off with it and like once a lot of washes and I'm trying to have a look holds for of the bushes on each side for it and like having to look and I got all these washers and I see the spacer just little metal Bar B and there's some other space a bit down like jeez. That's a lot of stuff and a lot
of watches. Luckily I have the like the
Gregory's manual for that 31 and it's got a little strip down for some reason, this side had a whole bunch of extra washers.
On their had an extra two washes plus like a thick spacer washer as well, which was odd, but that was all completely wrecked.
Those old old pushes, the old sway bar mount Bush fell into pieces crumbled in my hands. So let's go on sides been
outside. This car is going to feel tired
as anything. When you when you get back on
the right, it's going to be yes, should changing all these main bushes and I looked at doing the steering rack boots and I thought, oh maybe I can do the, I don't know what what bullshit is but it goes into there too and you've got the Eli ball mount on the other end, I can't read what a sight.
I'm learning as much as I can about suspension.
And what you call, they all got different names.
Yeah, so I was looking at doing that but then I realized I need a grease gun because it comes with the grease nipple.
You got to put in there and fill it with grease yourself as like, I don't have, I don't have that. So I thought, what's the point
me changing that steering food to have to take it off again and put on. This would be honest.
Yeah. Are you doing?
It's not just on Excel stamps in the drive because you haven't got access to a hoist. Have you?
You're doing it all? No, don't yes.
Axle stands. Next to me, of course you are.
Of course. Hopefully I II do.
I do use them. If I'm going underneath the car,
my stuff. Yes, 100%.
I don't want it falling on me, but if I'm kind of just working on the break right there, I've kind of neglected I love the good ol Days where you support a couple bricks under there or block of wood you'll be right when I first got some axle stands and I was working just on the side of the car thought I'd use it but all I did was I grabbed the box and it's still in there and just shoved it underneath you mother taking him out set up yet. The shut up.
But now I'm more sorry for now very good, they're definitely gone good to his Quarry. Good here.
So it's good to hear. I mean I don't think you're
going to make classic Japan at this point will have its there's always that car not with that car.
There's your stupid little things.
Yeah, that just needs fixing now.
So you know, suspension bushes. I can take that and get that
done, you know, a couple of the ones that I can't.
It's okay. Demonstrate by Club shawl, just
slap a trade plate on it and take it.
That's a. No, you're not allowed to, why
not? No.
It's got to be tray. There has got to be registered
or trailered in and trailer. Do that year?
Trying to even talk. Okay, I just drive it.
Got to find an Auto Electrician to fix my headlight because I was having a read and they're like, I add, they can play up.
If your ground near the driver side headlight, might be, you know, not connected properly or something like that.
So I had to look I can't even find it around there where it should be where it is but kept just try shorting it out and directly from the globe or whatever to the chassis.
Just just If it works. Yeah, yeah.
Could possibly give that a go. Yeah.
But this driver side, one's not working and the indicator plays up a bit too. And they said that can be the
Earth problems having with a few people where it just goes a bit Haywire because of that. Earth is either not connected or
in my case, not really there at all.
Because all the other Earth's, I've gone around and send it back and clean them all up. So okay, hmm.
This This is just the last one that doesn't exist because I was asking, I was like, trying to Google and find out where is where near this driver side? Had lies are meant to be.
I finally saw a picture of where it should be like, mounted and even see where the wires meant to be dangling.
Anywhere. Maybe it's stuck somewhere.
I got to pull out the whole headlight, maybe I do, but yeah, that's all. I can think.
Oh, I don't know how I'd go with the bushes on the rear.
They might still pass, if they're nice to me, it's don't know. Why am I going back to them?
If you want Twisted that CPA? I don't think I've sawdust that
actually that kind of just left that I've got you.
At the blades but I haven't put them on.
It's getting this thing in the car.
The cars got a collection of bits and pieces is like a steering wheel in there. I've just left the tool sitting
in there. Thus, the old spaces that I
don't need anymore, they're sitting in their becoming a collection of bits and pieces but yeah, it's really getting close. I would be comfortable driving
it right now. What's going on?
I feel like I've been much changed, everything.
I'm expecting end-of-the-year security, but it's 2022, man.
It has to happen. If I don't, if only you had like
a break of like six weeks coming up.
Yeah, that would really help but you know, as if that's going to have a happen. Yes.
So it's getting there. I would love to have it ready by
then but realistically I just I'm not able to get it to somewhere. We're at this time because it's
not where I'm living. So it's not like I can get up
early and drop it off somewhere. And then come, go to work or
something like that because it's, you know, 25 minutes away from where I am. So it's not like I can quickly
drop it over somewhere and then come all the way back.
It just wouldn't be realistic unfortunately.
But yeah, I wish I could get it ready for at least as I classic not Japan. Hmm because I don't want to
bring the Subaru again because as soon.
There is like that rear spoilers looking even worse.
I got to clean up. That looks like massive white
patch. Now we're all the paint's gone
off. It can completely fade, it looks
horrible. So yeah, got that too.
The 31 still does have a small leak oil leak somewhere to figure that out. So whether that's awesome, I saw
some fresh oil near the back of the engine and where the transmission and that join ya remain.
I think classic classic not your pain.
Doesn't have a regulation about trade plates, does it?
Well, not as far as I know and not that I know would check with the organizer. Yeah, let's see what he says.
You'll people will speak to my people and we'll go from there, sounds like we're getting close. Rob.
Well, I've been searching for bits and pieces on eBay for the 380 SEC. I've got some new indicator,
lights, clear once. So, I'll put the orange globes
in nice, stupid. Be when I was pulling the car
apart, Butterfingers I dropped the one of the lenses that cracked it, didn't I? Okay, yeah.
So anyway, I only found the key ones.
I couldn't find any of the orange ones, water set of orange ones, but they're for the sedan, not the coupe and it said, it was for the coop. So, Instead of orange 380 SEC,
w126 indicators, if anyone needs any?
Yeah. Pretty much from that.
What else you been doing manager?
You need, Jimmy's not here at all.
Maybe January March next to me. Has been built date but don't
believe so, no. No.
And the transits. Not coming in till July.
So what else we've been doing? I've got a whack ago and with a
Briggs & Stratton motor pull the car.
Be a part of that. So I've been tinkering with
motors, but that's not a car. Yeah, really, really not much in
a car seat. Motorbikes being serviced, but
you're trying to I'll be trying to get sort of motivated to do some Bodywork on that 380 SEC, because I've got to get in the spray booth bike. By Christmas and Christmas is
fast coming, isn't it? Whoo.
Yeah, and I haven't got the Bodywork ready for it to be sprayed. So it's not dented or anything
like that. It's all the paint was peeling
off the roof, the front Bonnet, the Bonnet, and reboot, so paint. Should the boot back with us too
far gone. Stripped it back and put a
primer on it. So that's sort of ready to sort
of just stand back and ready to spray.
But the roof still needs working on and the Bonnet, and then blocking back the sides enough so that the new paintwork will bite on it. I'm not the strip it right back
to bare metal on the sides. It doesn't.
I think we're where it gets the sun on the Bonnet and in the roof I'm going to strip it right back.
Yeah but I won't touch the sides because it wasn't really some damage too much anyway. So be just the lights and back
in a specific in coat. Apple.
Is that one wrong? It's silver to.
Yeah, as much as I like to change the color, I want to keep it original to so I love to go on something like that.
That's just a huge. Huge joke, joke.
Yeah. But I just want to go shade
darker in the gray so it would have been too much out of at a kilt if I did spray even if it's a closed or spray, it wouldn't have been that bad. So you're going to get that car
going, it is I've got the old p76 project in the back.
I haven't even looked at that point out there the other day and I go, where do I start with that one?
As much as I'd love to get the old piece to me, six was my first car I've ever had. So it's just sitting in the back
garage. So is that is that car?
We were talking about it last week is that car your actual first car? Or just it was my actual first
interests. So it's because that sorry what
spec Las Vegas said so so it's a V8 four-speed super nice.
Okay, mean a deluxe. See it's a deluxe V8 with bench
seats or bucket seats with a single headlights there when tourists Super V8 and a super six with basically that came in eight a t-bar, auto a four-speed - got a boardwalk Figueroa and I came with a column or do on a deluxe models.
Yeah. And then you had the executive
which came with this sort of fancy cloth.
Trim exterior insulation, extra lighting in the doors.
Now, all the supposed to be this tight Executives need Executives made, exactly. And then you had the Targa
Florio switch, had the better suspension limited slip diff electric Ariel. Yeah.
And yeah. So But my mom is a nicely, spect
is a cream sort of, yeah braised, beige, interior with black carpeting set in set in the door, trim and black carpet.
So it was a unique combination in that respect as a lot of them come with brown interior here. So I had a beautiful, I won't go
there but I didn't have anywhere to keep it a is a V8.
Sorry it is the sixth illness, super Aspen green which come out in the targets. From friend one owner and the
motor blew up in it. So I'll put a V8 in it.
But I suspect something like for four thousand dollars just on motor on its own and I already had two paths.
It's just you can figure Pistons.
Yeah, I really done it up. It was pretty high, spec High
comp motor and an upstart for $1200 and I spent three and a half thousand dollars on motor itself.
This is back in the 80s and 90s when they work with much.
Yeah, it was actually in that. Yeah, mid-90s.
And I'm always always regret selling.
It was a car that my wife and I worked on she even helped me put the motor in when she was pregnant with Holly, we go was but yeah. Anyway yeah I remember at the
time when they were near the one of the big selling points aside from that'll fit, a 44-gallon drum in the boot was the sixth and the V8 weighed the same. I think, didn't, it begins very
dull, very close. I had a 50-50 weight
distribution. Soz 50/50, right?
Those fantastic weight distribution used to be able to get the car. Just drifting sideways and just
sliding through. Just fantastic.
It was great. Yeah, we cigar in the back
paddocks, which is due, west of ring-road.
Now, you just drift the car through the rocky, Stone SEC, power lines, down the roads. And we give them.
I'm surprised your car survived, all of that.
So Yutaka floor as well. Did you?
I've still got The Fray that I had.
Yeah. And it's all the rust away to
nothing to his long story short, you know.
Had to pull them out of the shed for me.
Dad and left them outside. We ruined them.
Yeah, yeah. So that was really disappointing
us pretty heartbreaking when he kicked, when he threw him out of the shed. But anyway, it's done done now.
You know, even my p76 for a long time.
I blew one. My first car was sitting
underneath the gum tree in front of my parents place because I had no way to keep it. I was living.
In a flat. And that's what really started,
suppose the rust on it or started rusting in a few corners. And, you know, the normal places
I do Rustin is around the window.
Trim around the boot cap, the petrol cap, and then around the battery itself, if you have a lower seals rust as well, the front seals up. They do Rust.
Unfortunately, that it went through an extensive rust prevention and dipping, obviously didn't stop calling That didn't stop the Rust in Peace, though, that will eliminate include panels. So it's all monocoque, spot
welded chassis. So there's, there's nothing
bolted onto that car at all, except for the doors and the boot in the Bonnet. Okay, yeah.
So it's one piece is actually has a crumple Zone like a modern-day car house with the McPherson strut front end and all that sort of motor is designed to go underneath the body when it was when they had a head-on and crumble.
Yeah. So I've seen some peace.
Any sixes in the guys in the Live with some horrendous crashes, and they walked away from a my, you can't believe that they survived. Hmm.
Yeah. So the cars, you know, develop
the first cars that in that era where they actually had an arm code Type reinforcement welded into the doors.
Well, I did not know that. Yeah, so with with that
classical steering column, you know, McPherson strut front end coil springs in the back end and whatnot.
There's a lot of advances of that car and I Done it scared a lot of companies General Motors and Ford in particular and there's a lot of propaganda that went on about him and it was his stories about you know the strikes are might not for.
Don't hold and threatening the unions and the supplies if you don't, if you supply to them and not us first you know we're going to bypass again stuff like that.
So the islands or selling what thousands of cars per time and I'll building him without all the all the parts.
So they actually had this whole them in the yard.
There's luck. 5,000 cars in the yard.
Hmm, without all the past and that to put it back through production line, to put the parmesan.
Yeah, so just some good stories about designing the sentence at the moment. There's a story about the p76
and and a design and everything about p76 also that's some good stories. Yeah, yeah.
But yeah. So apart from that, you know, I
I've got a lot of New Old Stock for the car, when I do restore it. So great, you know, Got all used
to actually be the part. The part sticks would excite
many years ago and I we used to actually we obtained a dies out of the Zeppelin Factory foot indicators.
So the Melbourne the Victorian club actually still holds the dice so we actually started one of the other members as a tool maker as well. So he used to do a run of the
Thousand headlights because you couldn't get the indicator lights anywhere. They what Leon did when they
shut down. They actually had to supply so
much, so many spare parts for so many years.
And then went to China to get the indicators made up in China, and the Chinese ones they actually send them some samples and the lenses were faded. So, they came back, these brand
new ones, come back with faded lenses.
No, yeah. So, they'll design brand new
with faded lenses. So it's another, a proper Amber.
They're sort of like a year faded.
A yellow sort of yellowy color from China's 70s.
It was good fun. So we started making them
assembling my cells and selling them to the clubs are in Australia. Yeah, pretty cool.
Yeah. So there's a lot of New Old
Stock out there and a lot of things being rebuilt and you have to improvise because a lot of the supplies were the same as General Motors and and Bendix and, you know, BorgWarner and a lot of other supplies of various parts and they sort of had a mixture of both HQ wheel bearings forward bolt patent.
All these sort of odd things like the rear brake cylinder was similar to afford but not exactly the same slightly different threads. Yeah.
So there's some yeah parts that you have to sort of modify to keep the cars on the road today. Okay.
Yeah. It's like you do see the
occasional piece of and he's driving around like it's for those who actually love them. They generally love them like
that. There is a good quality for him.
I swear by all the makes it holds and forwards and back in days that, you know, you have back in the 80s and 90s when I, when I was on the road and we have driving as a young guy.
If we went anywhere gets his car, we always went in mules, mine, but one thing was actually cheaper to run in the next day's up and on fuel even though as a VA ya had a lot more room so that would be five of us crammed in the car we can fit.
Yeah 22 man tends to SGS you know or form an intense and S keys in it and all our gear in it and go off to Queens.
I am not a problem is fantastic. There's so much room in it and
it's comfortable. And it was as far as yesterday
they had a lot of assembly problems.
A lot of assembly issues which, you know, a trim would fall off here or there and the fitment wasn't good because they use timber bucks and cheeks. Instead of Steel on S2 42 skill
jigs, that's a different story on its own, but the car you had it was all the parts for Australian made and all made by the same Supply. Is that might force and
Holden's. Yeah.
So you can't say it's a crappy car.
Yeah. Mechanically so in that respect
it was a reliable car. Yeah, again, yeah.
Your window would fall off if you played around at the window to match and what they did thought.
Well, do I supposed over here today time, everything was glued. The lot of things are blue and
the actual weather window, what you want to call it?
The Met mechanical window, winders bacteria, living on The Regulators. Well, no, actually the where the
regulator is attached. To the window.
It was glued on, okay? Okay, so and are using data
approach. I think was I don't know,
Bostick. I think at the time or one of
the, the big blue manufacturers to try a new blues for their that the side windows to glue on the Windows bomb, their panels to give and also Banda windscreen Z because they're the first ones to actually start glowing windscreens into their cars back then every still use the old rubber rubber seals seals. Yeah, so did Windows were
falling out as well and earlier cars it so you the bonding method was a very good these issues.
Hot glue with the wire in it and then they went to the newer cars you, they didn't even use that, they just use the Boss cake or whatever window sealants they used today to what they glue in a modern-day car. Mmm.
Yeah, so there's yeah, the Vance's igloos to just, you know, move the head Leaps and Bounds compared to what they were back in 70s. So, Yeah, but it's funny hearing
equal also I was just going to say it's funny hearing you talk about it and how the the anti-establishment sort of move Ford and GM. You know we're so Auntie them
it. It was like the it was a
forerunner of the Magna and it'll always wasn't it, you know, the magnet came out sort of for 10 12, 13, 14 years later later. It was pretty much the same sort
of thing, you know, is a car really interestingly engineered and Of its Time and Time Shows in white.
I think at the time when the 380 came out, was one of the better cars on the market absolutely. No, it was.
All right, just a couple of generations of the yeah, the the Magna but at the same time that that last Magna was a great care of for hmm. And you know, I don't know, but
even looking at when I went to the current was the VF Commodore when they just sort of, one of the last shapes.
Yeah, I if you have a look at some of the manufacturing methods of that VF, Through the gospel, saying, the couple of days cars, you notice for strip down.
And then to Miramonte reminds me so much of the way, the p76 was assembled with the way, everything was spot welded and glued and he don't go until that to some of the whole entire club. Guys, to see what.
Well, you know, a lot of money - probably only worth 20 grand, you know, where, you know, see if you got it, done up.
Equivalent care of a, you know, an x, a XB Falcon.
Yeah, bxp was XC already 73, wasn't it?
So if you had an extinct often today, you know be worth, good money. You say they you know and if
people say pt-76 rusts rusted badly my I know I had a Landau at the time and that was rusted out, like, you wouldn't believe.
And that was that 20 years ago? I was rusted out.
Yeah. So that you can't sort of
compare them, don't you know? Yes.
You rust but not as bad as a falcon Ford's rust so bad.
I don't know why we're some of the holding some the later model holds seem to be all right, I don't know.
I haven't seen too many rusted-out pole dance but I'm sure there. Is sure there is hmm, it's good
to hear you laugh or the person who's because, you know, its it does get it still today. It's like, it's like one of the
three or four Australian cars are not made that, that get severely ridiculed, but people in the know like and I will talk about his last week David like towards the end, there were We a good car like absolutely that. They got those, they got those,
the manufacturing bug sorted, and the cars were really high caliber and and it deserves its place to win, you Wheels car of the year for, you know, for all its technological innovation and everything. And people just people just you
know, she cannot because it had those early issues and payees had Parts suppliers in them and stuff like that.
But it's a car that's got an interesting history and I think it's I think it's I think it's an important car.
Yeah, absolutely. And Unfortunately, true from
what I just read and I didn't really know this.
But when I think it's Micheletti you designed the card, they went out to in to get a design in Italy and it was that an Australian designer who actually through and he's bit to win the design of the car and apparently they sabotaged his car.
Yeah. Yeah.
So that design didn't come through but some of the other designs were brilliant. They'll just smooth it out a
little bit. Still have the capacity of the a
bigger boot but they just hit it a lot better.
It actually look best in the model that was never produced I think in the wagon the wagon the wagon look good, the way I'm great. I think there's any one ever to
it. Wagons built ones used as a
Workhorse on the site and the other one was sold and that it made several hundred 47 coops. But I think only 10 survived,
they crushed about 200 of them and the rest went to auction with non idea. Compliance.
So there another night, nice car as well, and they'll planning on putting a bigger motor in that and taking that to backfist.
That was their goal, but that never happened.
Hmm. Yeah.
What could have been a little bit?
Like, I was saying, last week, 20 million dollar budget back then was not a lot of money and they produce the car.
With, let's be honest. You stuff that that put in cars,
they have, you know, which back then didn't and I like, Fair creditor to till Island where you know where was doing it, you know? It's always say it's the car
that could have been you know, it could have been the kind of either save the company or broken and that's and not create a lot of. You know what people say that,
that's kind of what happened and it's actually the company 2 Broke. The car's not to calibrate the
company and unfortunately that they went bust.
Well that's and that's what they saying to underreported these days when they when they look back at the history that they're saying it. Well British Leyland was the
demise of p76, not the other way around because I was actually doing well. Yeah, you got it I think they
might be at fifteen or eighteen thousand cars somewhere around here. Okay, in a two or three years
that they made, okay, 73 74. So yeah.
Anyway, there you go. That's pretty much it for the
island. Mr. David Prince of dates with
me. I've had a peak Harry, a venti
type things been involved with. But currently the city is gone
in for a roadworthy check to put on top planks.
That's the next step for that little car did a little bit of fiddling around with it on the weekend and have been having some trim work done on it, making the the trim.
Absolutely spot on something else I did.
I'm trying to remember what the other thing I did on it was now we come to me, but Sunday morning, I took a drive out to Jill's Park to the Toyota car, clubs, Cars, and Coffee morning, which, which I hadn't been to before, I took the Honda, but I did pack a little Little bit away, but there are some really cool cars there. I sent a photo around to you
guys of the there was a Toyota iQ, which is Twitter's answered at the Smart Car, really somehow managed to be a four-seater as opposed to the smart fortwo which was a two-seater.
And there was a well they called it an IQ R, it had an IQ are badge on the front. All the world like a Skyline
GT-R version of an IQ is about A quarter of the length of them have a normal Skyline GT-R, had a Veilside body kit, and some really cool wheels that look very tough.
Beautiful 75, Corolla coupet. So that would be about a ke 35.
I think. So, the very early Coupes were
actually of that shape. We're actually fully imported.
This is a fully imported when I had a word to the owner of that and it was Uncle jock scar. So I use Uncle Jocko.
New and had been in the family all along.
And when before Uncle jock picked off, he promised it to this this bloke and he just loved it.
And the funny thing, funniest thing about it, he told me he guy in Greensboro services at for him and has been servicing it for years, but he booked it in ongoing in the guy said him looking you make sure you here really early, you know can you get here about 7:00? Okay.
Why is that? He said because if you leave it
out front he said I just Spend my whole day and people coming into the workshop saying, hey mate, is that crawler out the front for sale. Give me a kidney like the added
a that, you know, the the interested in buying any City for get it here early. I can bury it in the workshop
and then that, you know, I get our guys work.
So it's just ahead the original hubcaps on an absolutely bog-standard and but a crack in the dash or anything.
It was a beautiful car but some nice gt40s Salinas tonight, school or hiace Vans with great 80s graphics on them said And ID's Graphics that always goes down.
Well, and then that night, I did a little, we had a Twilight run with our car club down to warning Peninsula end of November. You think you'd be pretty safe
when you to do a bit of a Twilight or under light saving picnic at Mornington Park. Walk out on Rosebud Pier, we met
it Morty. Alec it was bucketing, it Morty.
Alec the sun came out in time for it.
We all sat in our cars which is waiting for the rain to stop.
Rain stopped we came out. Had a bit of a chat headed off
heading down towards Mornington. There's ever been out the rain
stopped with obviously, then it's brilliant Sunshine.
Driving down to Mornington. Could have been driving to the
end of the world that looked like it looked like the end of the world. The sky was the blackest.
I think I've ever seen and we got to about probably the other side of Frankston down. It came again.
Absolutely torrential. Got to Mornington.
Blowing it total Gail. And Brilliant Sunshine again.
So the sun is just coming up. It was absolutely freezing cold.
So, we actually took a cab to one of our new members lives in Warrington. And it's got this fantastic.
Huge shed on their property. They said, I do you want to come
to the shed. So we had a dinner sitting in
the shed and playing game ball to a pool, but in the sun was out, again the wind to die down. So we decided not to be silly
and walk out the Roseburg Pier as it was still freezing.
So we just headed straight up to Arthur Seaton.
But some great driving roads down there around the Esplanade Mount Martha. And and and the the office erode
everyone in Melbourne, pretty. Well knows that.
Will you guys do now as after last.
Yeah. And one of those roads that just
in a very short space of distance, just Rises right above the above the bay and panoramic views down the bay was really good. So yeah so that was good.
What does my doing be? Doing some work on Lon?
In-laws Jazz, she's away for a few days.
So time to service the Jazz and I checked the sticker, it's still within within mileage, but it was last done in 2020.
So I think it probably deserves a service in a bit of a fright.
Yeah. So that'll keep going in for the
next foreseeable future. Absolutely nothing wrong with.
It, just starts every time you turn the key great car been doing Honda things. The Mary Poppins of of cars that
under Jesse's practically perfect in every way I reckon.
I agree with you. Yes, I think that's me actually,
with me couple of things. I really been doing much with
cars as a light, but I was trying to say, I need to do something. And if you guys know me I'm a
stickler for an original accessory that would have come from the factory. Oh yeah, you're only human
again. I've been called weird and odd
throughout my whole entire life but when it comes to cars as that's a definite anyway, I I'm trying Try to make the typhoon with all the little things that you could have gotten from Ford, from a dealership, back in the day.
And so I've gotten the the the genuine Momo steering wheel General my gear knob, this is stuff, I've had in the past the, the boot Rubble. Rubble, Ina the boot scuff
guard, the net cargo net and the whole bunch of other stuff and the aux cable with the booster. But the one thing that was
always kind of eluded me was the factory Bluetooth to answer phone calls in the car and and when they do come up, they come.
I feel like stupid amounts of money and I'm like, I'm like yeah I wanted but I'm not justifying, you know, 500 bucks plus I'm like that's just Insanity.
So one guy put one up on Gumtree for quite considerably less than that and I was like oh I'm send you a message turns out he only lived like 10 minutes from from Steph Supply so then the car went down and picked it up and got talking to him.
He's he had that in his he hit a BF Fairmont gear which he loved and in a seesaw, Any board a GTP might like supercharged GTP and he's got some other toys as well.
Like a TS 50, a you Falcon like one of the last ones.
And so we got to talking a bit and put that in there and it's just like, you know, it's the little things gentlemen.
It's the little things that, that, that, that make a car and didn't with the phone presenter. That, you know, that's, that's
like that. That some people for a piece of
plastic spend like four hundred dollars on which I just don't understand which I got from a record for, like two dollars fifty because it because we see it was Eating in a ha in an old feeling I was like I'll have a gander and there you have it.
So I have got that like that's pretty much it for like like the like the hard to get B. Like you like I don't really
want to get the the factory DVD head unit that, you know, for the, for the roof. And so I do because no one sits
now I don't really want to cut into the car but like the blue to thing works perfectly. It was legit plug and play and I
was like, oh, this is awesome. Like I can actually answer calls
legally in my phone. Now, in the car now, so So, that
was that I do need to come and see your was a dream is mr.
Mr. David prints because I do need to get a little piece of
plastic kind of touched up and in that super, as well as the factory fpv mats that come with the car cannot buy anymore and you cannot get anywhere and all the ones that you can get hammered and so like all of them are good except for the drivers one it's got like a, it's got a little tear about that beginner where but like the Restless we can fix that.
Okay, so I was gonna say mr. Prince, I'll have to bring the
Our to you, and we can fix up those supplies for youth, few little things. And don't you hate that Matlock
or when I bought my xa6 50th Anniversary, it comes with the 50th Anniversary, mats. The first thing I did is I took
them out because I didn't want to wear him out.
Yeah, absolutely. I can.
Brother Matt's throughout the whole concert like it and they quite thick and high. And then I bought a set of the
and I'm going to for me, from from the UK, the full performance maths which which, which, which are made for the kind and they peed in. So the original ones put away,
never going to be used because because im a sick individual like that, but that is a few meth you just just let's let's explore that a little further. Show we yes, what's the end goal
there? Okay, so when you sell the car,
Car, which is a beautiful pristine maps that you've never had the joy of use it with, or do you keep them as a Memento of the hair? It'll be one money pillar.
Obviously, you'll never sell it. Is the weak Link in my
Psychoanalysis, isn't it? Because you don't sell get us.
No, yeah, I think that is very true.
That is very true. I'm sorry.
But no, the fierce is definitely a keeper.
And yeah, so I will definitely do that.
But I bumped into malt through the fiesta Club, someone put on the on the chart. Has anybody got a Mark, A a
point five or so, which is, which is, which is what mine is.
It's like the, you know, the update that face of the market and I didn't see the comment or any because And the guy comments, there's some random guy that always parks at the mean, green one at the front of a Essence super cheap, right?
He might he might if you drive past weekend you might see him anyway. I'm II don't like them up there
talking about me and I was like oh that's me.
And these guys are called emu. So he did even me and he's like,
to me, he's like, I've got a Mark 8 and he's like, I hate the seats. He's like, he's like, I've got a
bad back. I cannot do this.
I cannot do these things anymore.
I'm he's like, he's like I'm happy to come to see you.
You where you are even if you even if you're at work you can just open the door. So I just want to say because
I've got two on order and I'm like okay righto so two cars to Fiesta ST market like 0.5. So he's got this hot dog.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. The story gets funny because
like I'm like I'm like I don't know if he's going to come steal. My car.
I don't know what was going to happen, but turns out I was like, oh, I'll meet you. I'll meet you at work.
So we met up at work and He rocks up.
He's driven all the way from Danny long time.
He's made all the way all the way here, and I might do that's commitment like that. Like I like, I've just driven
five minutes from home and he's like, no, you don't understand, I need this. I need to see how this goes and
he suddenly goes like, oh, this is just so much better than than the seats are in my one. And I'm like, why are you
ordering to? He's like, he's like, well, I
tried all of our all across Australia to get one and I couldn't get one and then end up people cancel their orders or something. He's like I end up good too.
And I'm like, what colors? You get things like mean, green
is ways like I wanted to see your car as well because it's the color that that I want. He's like, it's stunning.
I'm like it is a pretty sick color we get talking.
He's part of the, the small Ford car club which which which II got a small forts on, he's like you've been too small for something like I have been too small for Sunday many times.
Yeah, he's got a mark to Focus RS, a Mark 3, Focus RS to other Fiesta. Like just plain Jane fears
associated with your dailies. He's got obviously the Mark 8.
Fierce which is selling. As soon as a new one comes, he's
got a load of. So I Caterham 7 version of that
Aziz track track toy and and I'm like a cheese would be nice.
Wouldn't it like that? That's so he's so so we got
talking and yeah turns out it turns out he's a bit of is a bit of a small forehead. He's also got a chimney there
you go. Rob that.
That's that's his, I'm sorry. I was like, respect respect to
the Jimmy, any calls a gym because it's obviously it was his name. So so yeah, that was quite a
funny story which I had with the fiesta.
I didn't expect the unexpected but it was funny.
Just just reading on the Facebook page of like how there's some random guy that's out there and so these always always packing it on a weekend. Go maybe go past the see you
don't like oh Jesus it's I know. I know it was bright green but I
didn't realize it was that noticeable but probably can see from space. So so that was because that's
been my cup, those but Mr. Print, I'll have to come and see
with the with a typhoon. There's those two little things
kind of touched on this one done, but moving on gentleman to tonight's topic. Now we were discussing last week
about great driving roads which we want to get out and we'll go to if we even got, we go anywhere around the world.
Obviously Rob you've been, you've been all over the world.
So so if you missed a princess and you I mean, Rob you've done the Isle of Man before on a motorbike on a motorbike here.
Yeah, you win. Yeah.
Fair to say Insanity goals reached, it takes not just two stones but many to be able to tip to be able to do that that if I tell you what, it does really scary.
Because yeah there's all these signs along the various parts of the Rogue. Say this is what could happen to
you. You know today's show you those
crash photos and people being all mangled up and stuff like that and how many people died at the old man every year?
Not the races. These are the spectators right
around. Violet just riding around.
So they actually hand out pamphlets when you hop on the ferry. It's about having yeah about how
dangerous it is to ride around the Isle of Man.
Yeah. No it's cool to be in front of
me and I couldn't believe it. And the Marshal just jumped off
the bike. Like it happens every day, you
know? Yeah I just keep on going to go.
Shit did that just happen and yeah I have kept on going and then I'm doing. Yeah 100 plus small an hour now.
120 130 miles plus Yeah, you told me you were getting past that close to 160 miles an hour. You'll say Allah Grant name
touching on others to skate look but also in around its prey does. Flak is you guys fast as you can
and you're getting past it was getting passed by other bikes, the insane? Yeah, I've got the door, like a
simple aguero's, you know, like the educating, you know, kind of galleys and stuff like that. And for carbon fiber to caddies
riding around and you know the top-of-the-range BMW Thousand dollars and stuff like that are ours.
Just the amount of bikes and like their bike nut has over there. Hmm, you know, and they come
from all over Europe and and they say you gotta watch out for the French, they're better worse writers because they're good Riders, but they ride on the other side of the road.
And when I go to Harlem, and are riding on, on the left side of the road and a lot of them going wrong side around their head-ons and things like that, so you gotta watch out for them.
I think I can pass one or two Riders like that.
When I was running around on the wrong side of the road and myself. So yeah, you they tell you about
all of this. So so you just keep in the back
of your head that you know, it could be someone on the wrong side of the road, coming around a corner.
So just need to be careful that that's around.
Like two-thirds of the track is two way traffic and going up the mountains one-way traffic and you can only go one way, okay?
And that and that's pretty much the only part of Of the track.
They let the public go as fast as you want to go.
So that's gone over the top of mountain.
So and it's where you see, you know, on Top Gear when I go through the fog and all that, that's that section there.
Well so there you can go as fast as you want but the rest of the track your base speed limits. Yeah yeah.
Yeah. And then there's all these other
back roads which are due to restricted so you can go pretty much 100, 100 mile an hour or whatever you want to do.
If you want if you you know go enough guts to do it because the roads are narrow. Yeah, English Road.
Laneway type roads out in the country.
Yaga Hedges on each side of the road.
Yeah. Sort of cobblestone.
Yeah. Whatever.
Fences. And whatnot.
So you do need to sort of have you?
It's about yourself. That's for sure.
Absolutely. But my main goal is always want
to do Scout vo through, Italy and Switzerland, and places like that. So that's, that's my bucket.
This is a style, you a pass, but it's so busy.
I was sorry. You to thing on it today and
there's like a thousand bikes going up and a thousand bikes.
A few, you're riding a bit faster, you're going to be held up by a whole lot of the box and it will just won't be any fun.
Yeah, I still feel. We've got the best roads here in
Victoria actually, we still have, they've sealed a couple of fantastic roads from omiyo to Dartmouth.
Mmm, it's not patrolled, it's not as many cars on it when I've written it over the years since they've sealed.
It was real good after this. Sealed.
I don't know. Don't know what it's like now,
over the last couple of years, but I would say, would be anything like, it was three, four, five years ago and the other good road is believe or not like eels and Jamison.
Okay, none of that like Hilton's Jemison, 30-odd Condors just twisty roads, you'll be sick of it.
Your It's a gem. Some Rogue basically from like
your great roads, less cars and blacks, the reef and spur and stuff like that. So unless bikes than the reef
and spur and Blacksburg. Yeah.
And you say that, get all that is much tourist traffic through there so it is a better. Oh, but you got to sort of go
out of your way to get their knees over roads that are fantastic up through a countryman.
The name the road to goes up towards bucking up the food back in caves up that way all the way up back over.
The to towards Fred Berry the Monaro highways and have a great by the way, to ride or drive. We've written from likes
entrance all the way up to Kuma. Okay, pretty freaky of saline.
There are so many great roads and you know, as well writing even coming back from the Central Coast couple weeks ago, we wrote up the Oxley. Highway is one of the best
highways when it's, when it's not having roadworks.
Don't stop potholes everywhere and pass the roads.
Don't, but fantastic Road, the scenery is fantastic.
The roads great then obviously highway from basically Port Macquarie to a little town called walcker swiper.
I reckon this. Well Chase wal chha so you think
it's Walter but it's Welker. Okay.
Well anyway and then it's a thunderbolt white, it goes up there. So there's a big loop.
You can do there for Central Coast and we've done the putty road which is supposed to be a famous rating in Sydney that goes down. It's Wiseman ferry from
Singleton. Yeah, all the way down.
So there's some great roads. Brilliant roads.
Yeah. And I'll probably yeah.
Oh. So I don't say so basically
we're going to talk a lot like you like you just mentioned like just some cracking roads at that.
You need to drive on before you before you back at this roadside. Okay.
That's good. Fuck you.
This Rose. So for you, it still Bo pass
Scotty. What about you man?
Favorite roads. And the way that you want to go
on that, you're dying to do and that on dying to do.
So, I'll leave that one to last. I was thinking just roads that.
BeIN on and pretty much just Victoria.
But for people that are, you know, Mad Max fans, you got Wildwood Road, hmm, that can be pretty fun when it's not all filled with pot holes after all the reins.
So blocked off from memory, still in some parts of it, so you can't really get on it. But you know, if you're into Mad
Max, you can easily see all the scenes, all the way along it.
What else is there? There is.
There's one that I went on probably last year.
I think it was. We're heading up to mount
Buller, and it's a small little stretch of road, but it's called strength Creek Road, and it's near the Murchison Gap.
Look out, okay? You can have a look and see the
view of it that, but it's not that busy and it's got some hair pins. Ins and you can slowly make your
way up the hill and then you can sweep back around if you want.
Make your way down the hill again and that, but it's nice and windy, not too sharp Corners that kind of just nice to Corners. That's way around you and as I
said it's got a couple like hair pins in there and just yeah, it was, it was a lot of fun. Didn't go for long as maybe
like, you know, a couple case or something but it was a nice road that stuck in my head, right? Did I like to probably go on
his? I'd love to drive on the nerve.
Go green. Mmm-hmm I know that's a public
public road so That seems it. Now, I'm into told Public Road,
okay, the but also gets expensive if the arm Coke is got a pain to replace the Armco and it can be a beer.
Big day out the old Nurburgring. Yeah.
I've seen some of the crashes and People losing Talent really quickly and I was like, well, that would be just not only to repair your car but because that they chant, they charge you to tow your car to fix every meter of God.
Read the paper. Yeah.
And the fact you got to close the road like that.
Yeah. So slow it down.
You get charged for that and you can charge your all these things. I'd be too scared to drive it.
I'll be like, just American the money.
I do I put 10 grand aside just just in case that purse is our Nurburgring solved ruin that. Yes that's true.
And look for any any any Ozzy. I mean it's it's an incredible
feeling just driving around Bathurst.
I mean and it's not until you actually drive around it and see how it drops down off the mountain, through the Dipper and stuff, you think, wow, okay, they've got Big Kahuna's, those boys that go definitely which basically 100 miles an hour yeah it's the elevation change that everybody says it's just insane like it's absolutely nuts and people so like you have Sunshine at the bottom and then you'll have pouring down at the top of the mountain like it like and like and that's that's not, you know, if UK's away and it's just it's just the difference is just
insane and I really I really want to just dropped about this just to just to just to do that. Just to even add like mediocre
speeds. Just just like, just like
punished pretty well placed and it is 60 kilometers an hour.
Yeah. But it's funny because you turn
on next to the desert museum, right?
At the entrance, sort of which is down at the would be the North End of the main straight I suppose, where you turn onto the track and down the main straight past, thoroughly the buildings on the left and the through the tunnel, through the under the tunnel bit. And then you drive around and
that feels completely normal thing.
I might just Drive In Reverse, you know, because it's a two-way, right? Yeah, that just feels really
weird. Okay, all our lives, we've been
watching cars race one way around it to go the other way.
It's like this does not feel, right?
This is this. That's what that's it.
Yeah, I don't know how that would feel like, yeah.
Yeah, that's a great idea. So it's go to you just send us
the link of the Murchison Gap. Look out.
Yes. A little stretch but you can do
the road View and kind of have a better look if your internet's running. All right, hopefully that link
worked. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's Scotty. You've ever done the man.
Scroll down with field broke. No, I haven't, I've gone
obviously through the Mansfield but no, I haven't done that, right? Well, if you ever, if you're
into your wines, the King Valley region right through there because you're not in King Valley, once you go over the mountains, Okay towards milliwatts through so Mansfield I think it's Tommy with field and then Milla yep, value Highway. Okay, I'll drive real nice drive
and as wineries right throughout that whole area, wonder is a dangerous dangerous thing. Well, be even closer than that.
We've got the yarra valley, of course, and the Don Road from launching a stool, and he's fantastic.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Obviously, as we've mentioned,
the black spur, you are due at the right time of day.
I found its when it's there's no one.
There it is. Automotive Bliss.
When you, when you get no, no one and, and and no one that doesn't pull out in the slow driver driver driver turnouts.
Like when you get a perfect run like I had a perfect run and it was when we went to high ball, goes country again, you have to go through the spur to get there.
And what we got we got the little doing the spirit like 7 a.m. and and it was I was in the MR2 and it was just driving.
Nirvana. It was it was perfect.
Like it was it just felt like this is what the car was made for. It came alive because every time
I've driven that road without fail, like I'll probably get like I have like a little good run and then I'll be like cool and I'll be cool for the rest of the time and we would just wishes okay and it's a public road but when you get it at the right time, with the right year, when everything just worked and lined up, Was brilliant. Ola. 80 kilometers a day like
ever. Absolutely.
Okay. That's like the Great Ocean
Road. Yeah yes can get that perfectly
which we got once in Skyline Crews from the start of the Great Ocean Road all the way to Apollo Bay.
Oh no no holdups. Wow.
We got we got there in like 15 minutes.
Yeah. No, but in no time and you know,
there was a tourist bus and they pulled over for us and we're all in different lengths, obviously. I think I was towards the back
that was before I had turbocharged.
It was the Ford or silver Skyline.
I think I remember the best scene was when the holdups and that moved away and I just see 32 gdr in front floor it and took this corner so quick. I was like, oh my God, how big
do that? Just looks absolutely.
Seeing you guys. Let me sing out a lot because
back in the 80s, used to be like that all the time.
Yeah, that's right. That was that restrict those
they restricted. You remember, they'll be
restricted. Yeah.
B. We use just go as fast as we
could. They didn't have the signs drive
on the left left left. Pull out.
You know, from The View, you know, drive on the left in Australia, drive on the left, animated works for was budget at the airport. And he said, there'd be two cars
a week they lose on the Ocean Road, would get off the line.
Get off the plane, hire a cactus.
I want to drive down the Ocean Road and then the car didn't come back. Frank, you're French.
You're not locals not locals and that always say well you know you need to be very careful. It's a challenging Road and it's
a we'll be fine. We'll be fine.
And yeah, most of the time they were but it was the most crashed bit of road as far as rent-a-cars go.
Yeah. That's because if you're
following the speed limits, I mean, some of the corners you can't take at those speeds that it says you can do it at.
That's right. Especially going to kirijo and
Not sure. Yeah but 60 carries around a
hairpin and stuff like that. Yeah.
The first one will be the fiesta red Ocean Road.
Like I was like Well Albert was having a bit of a plays as soon as the engine was running. And you know, and I didn't
realize how quickly you could you could take Corners in a car like that, and the back wheel cocked and it was and it just went straight around. And I'm like, oh, I'm scared.
I'm so scared. I'm backing off.
Can I add another great writer? If anyone is ever wants to
drive. It is old tezi monitors.
Yep. Gonna move that.
Their roads are pretty well-maintained.
The last time I went deal with March last year and the roads are a bit average, but the they're always working on their roads and doing bits and pieces, of right right around this.
The state great off that the target as you dare.
Wouldn't that be great to go and see?
Oh yeah. So some great rates.
Elephant pass is fantastic. A great Road from bitch, no.
You know. Through up until those don't
Helens up through that way. It's got style.
All those places are up through there.
Some fantastic roads that you can ride the drive back into the lawn system with. So yeah, you have to give it a
go there next year and I've got a weird idea of doing because you can you can do it as like a non-competitive, just just enjoy the road kind of thing. And they do you like a whole
package of like you know, accommodation and food and everything. It's like you pay one big some
but it's it'd be cool. Just do it once in a lifetime,
you know, know that did that that's pretty good.
They do. They actually offer promote it
to car clubs and you can actually get grants from the tezi government as a club here to go down there pretty good like that the Mustang clubs going in March are probably okay. Yeah.
Am I like a little school Excursion matters.
Cool space. Did that and then we'll be
asking how much they sort of 76. It's sevenish 7 foot up for the
big one just under six for the cheaper when I believe.
So too bad really actually. But that's like that's like
that's like combination and everything.
That's what I shouldn't combination food.
It's all it's all power thing. You'll have to pay for like you
I think take breakfast or something but but then it's like four days of De 45 days of driving as well.
Like, and it's all, it's all, you know, it's all sanctioned up. So, So don't win the race is on.
So You Follow the race to you, correct?
Yes. I'd like obviously like the, you
know, the cop cars and all that way.
And like, all that, like, the high-end stuff do do their bit.
And then we just, you know, like you do it afterwards and starts her clothes, right? Is that two way traffic closed
Road correct? Yeah, definitely.
So so I think it'd be important, sorry.
I was the about taking the fiesta, it'll be, it'll be made for those roads. Just, you know, little
absolutely little hot if you're going to choose that one or the To, that was the other option because steps because steps got a real soft spot for the amount to.
She reckons is the coolest thing ever.
And and I'm like, aw, the MR2, I like, I could take the amount to it. Seems like we can take both, I'm
like, I don't know, 14 thousand dollars, so it's going to be a coin flip, I think, but I like, I think I'd love to do it in a car that I've, you know, the first owner of and everything, and I think it'll be like it much better make time to make a good memory with that car. But I also think the MR2 is the
perfect alternative, imagine the typhoon.
Oh yeah, that'll be scared. Eighteen Seventeen hundred kilos
to handle incredibly, well, but it goes right for the massive it, but I think it for those roads and, and all that it has to, it have to be either the MR2 or the PS3.
So you just thought, you know, that when the corners in Tassie, they say, 30 kilometers, or 60 kilometers, they are actually closer to what they are here in Victoria where you can do twice the speed. Hmm.
Right. So yeah, you just got to watch
out for that. You'll get used to it pretty
quickly but yet they're up there.
The sort of advice Corner speed limits are a lot closer to the actual speed that you're driving at, then what they are here in Victoria when they say 60 here. You know you can still do 100
over there like that. Stick my exact same thing and he
used to draw drift all around Australia and everything and one clean autonomous but he's like the roads.
They're like they're full-on like you.
You have to, you have to be, you have to really concentrate, you can't, you can't walk around, you know.
Just, I'm going to take a quick story and I wasn't as you were heading down towards strong around motorcycles.
I'll send them about a hundred, and something kilometers, an hour, and tell you how much, but it was in a high hundreds.
And it's car past me, like, I'm standing still.
Well, and we think it was a police car.
Kid set. Yeah, and he just was like a
storm coming because I was doing, you know, stupid speeds sort of catching me. So I've slowed right down, he
went flying past me about 180, 190 well and it looked like a police car, but he kept on going.
So if you buy the speed limits, you know, pretty much and, you know, you'll be right the day of the battle, I think they're a bit more lenient, but there's still some speed traps around the place and they speak. Aras.
And they've got Vans with cameras in them and all sorts of things, so you still have to watch out for it all.
Absolutely, yeah, yeah. So there.
Yeah. I think, I think tells me is
definitely a Tiffany a Placer because everybody says, you got to do testimony, you got to do so many.
You got to do this when you're gonna do as many.
And, and I think that would be definitely a spot.
I want to go because, like, I want 2023 to be, it would be a real cool car. Yeah, it's Kyle.
Yeah. Go to see different country.
It's a car. You are aware.
Are, you know, do some do some great roads and Yeah, I'm really looking forward to next year Arc and it'll be it'll be really really awesome. So about like it was just a
little thing. We putting your every Paving
putting back to around 50 bucks away just just just just putting it away and and then and and it adds up really quickly because like you're like wow I didn't realize you know, like I've called it the road trip fund. Yeah.
Thanks. So like obviously you know you
you're different saving accounts and things and that one there and I'm like, I looked at it the other like bloody hell like I'm always say it like it's did it take a look?
So so yeah. I'm actually kind of looking
forward to it. I really told anybody about
doing except step. But yeah, petunia great roads, I
think that'll be a fitted. I think is gonna be a fantastic,
love it. So what month set to double
check it. So like we've said all inquiries
or to alter them there and there.
So yeah, we're going to once they confirm the dates and everything they're gonna, they're gonna come back to us but I'm I will let you guys know as soon as I find out, I've written in Taz, he's like in middle of winter and it's scary.
You got Colossus stuff like that and I was on a motorcycle to.
But anyway, and then November Melbourne cup weekend.
We used to go through that weekend.
The weather can be hit and miss but we've been flying around about March. The web has been fantastic.
Every time I've gone there in March, I've always encounter good weather. Well yeah, it's not too hot.
It has been rainy. Specially up towards the West
Coast. It always rains in the west
coast and the last three times I've been here, no rain.
Well, I've been lucky. Can't talk top to listen to this
podcast, and a lot of people know, it gets booked out, it's very busy in March. So I think they have their Labor
Day weekend, the same weekend, we have.
Okay. Yeah.
It's a problem we can. Yeah.
Bernie islands and of a nice place to go to no roads but you got to get across town on a ferry hmm But bruny Island.
So place to go wasters, let's not forget that best oysters.
Yeah, absolutely. Awesome.
Fantastic. What other roads internationally
would you guys like to do so. So we've heard from Scotty mr.
David Prince yourself all. Well, my my hat Stone in a
couple of ways. I've always thought the still
the old be fun, although very busy and very popular.
People from around the world, share that to our Scottish listens and I Sean Halloween, the NC 500, the North Coast 500 which starts in Inverness and finishes in Inverness 500 Miles goes up the. Obviously the North Coast of
Scotland and hugs the coast and then down, I think the best way is to head up north east from Inverness and then across the top and then down the West Coast stunning stunning roads.
Comparatively Caffrey. You look like an episode out of
an episode. You could relive the Skyfall.
I think, transport seen from Sky 4 where they, where he goes to the old the old house called Skyfall.
That's that's I think that's not far from applecross from memory which is a row down on the on the NCAA 500 or very close to it. So I haven't done it yet.
I've been to Inverness couple of times and I'll be back there again in April. So we will certainly Doing part
of it. Then we doing a bit of driving
around the west coast and then the other Parliament on obviously is Japan to a driven. Some fabulous roads in Japan,
great place to beautifully. Maintained roads are all like
biggie tables. They are, we did one.
I was up there with Mitch few years ago and we did one from Venezuela which is north of Tokyo on the Sea of Japan and cuts down through the Alps to eat into the Alps to a place called She-Ra cow or go. And it's called The White Road,
and it's a brilliant toll road. Only open during the summer
months, it's a bit bit sketchy in the winter, but as long as you want me to enter Crown Christmastime any other time of the year, that's a brilliant Road.
There's another one, just north of Tokyo of driven on near a place, called Nico in touch Iggy prefecture and there's a light beer called Lake chuzenji. It's got and I think it's got 48
or 49. You could Curves in it, actually
got a video of me driving it. So I'll send a wagon are so the
CVT gets a bit of a workout but that's such a good road.
It's actually a it's one way. So it's one way up and then and
then around the lake and then and then one way down as well they do that with a few of their Mountain Roads.
They do they do and I've got a great shot of the sat-nav in the car and it looks like looks like a bottle spaghetti.
You know, that red line you need to be following it.
It's it's brilliant. So I'll send those photos three
leopard and of course the car parking Tokyo Tokyo Drift.
Yeah you see this year's lizard. Well that we've got to say it's
much far more fun driving outside of Tokyo than in Tokyo.
Yeah, yeah. I bet I would imagine that would
be the complete case because it Would be as it packed in and be more open. The best thing that's driving to
do in in Tokyo is dressed up in a go-kart actually.
Yeah, I'm going to be about this over to do that.
So bad, what did you do? When you, what I would say, is
always Mario and I were cool things about Japan is that contrast you know in some ways it's so ordered and I can.
Well, remember standing outside, a hunter headquarters in AI armor, which is a really classy sort of area, sort of like double Bay and to wreck sort of all rolled into one and every Ohio, a lot of high-end fashion places and international headquarters, and the Imperial Palace is just nearby and they're about and Coke. That's come past.
Just on the matter side of the road, with all the other traffic, hang on, what's going on.
But I had big smiles on their faces.
I want to have some banana peels. that have someone running
behind you with a little dustpan and shovels the whole point of driving roads for me like the whole reason I got into like real driving roads and what kind of car what kind of turn my whole world around of when I was a kid was watching initial day and I don't know that way, they'll based on real roads in in In in Japan rule based on mountain passes and took the best parts and and stuff. But like when you when you watch
like the real-life version of that track, that would do just to attract the road that they renamed their insane.
Yeah. Like the the elevation the
constant here, pians tight turns in the tour buses coming out of the way and do my, I need this deal.
These roads would be so much fun to drive on.
So I think Japan for me would be like, kind of like, you know, one of the places where Just like I just want to do it like I could just go up and down up and out all day and I'd be a happy happy man. He's putting that 250 bucks a
pay or yeah it's a couple of great high places to this fun to drive route to say that. Yeah.
And they've got other got Eric sevens and they've got nsx's and they've got Skyline GTR. And they've got hackers suckers
and they've got all these things and you rent them and you sort of go go on a drive with them sort of thing.
So, it's Not like, here you go. Come back in four hours time.
So they, yeah. They I think you can do a
half-day or full-day and made of mine's done.
It a couple of times and you I haven't done it yet but I'm looking for someone to do it with.
Yeah, I mean and then they take you on the on the, the skyline robes and that sort of thing. And now I'm throwing them and
then they stopped for lunch and all that.
So that'll be pretty cool for me, getting a.
Like, if I was, if I could get like a, like an FDR X7, you know, dainty little handling. On a good road, I thought maybe
that would be just be utter Perfection.
Like that would be easy. What it Bliss yet.
You want to eat a Mustang a 67 Mustang with a scar on their own it. Yeah.
You know they actually work like it actually worked.
They put that that's Colin engine in the in the Mustang and they upgraded the suspension and they said they became quite a good car in the end it was, it was Wouldn't surprise me with all the amount of work that went into it.
But that would be though, I could see me in an RX-7 Scotty and I are, you know, Julia David in a in an NSX and I just see Rob with the skyline upheld. It was nothing like an
old-school, cows power. Yeah.
It's um, we've talked before the show but like there's something cool about like, having something like I'm some that looks so old and cool but with like all modern underpinnings, where it can actually handle go and be reliable work.
And I think II, really I still. So seriously think there's
something in that, I think that's a really cool cool.
Way of keeping those old cars going.
Absolutely I'm. But as long as you upgrade the
ending in the brakes, and those sorts of things like them, it's like early cam bees when they put WRX engines in them.
Great, in theory, I'm all over the road.
He's a little bit further, engineering, I think, than just learning the engineering. Well, I'm saying, I've seen
people like that. They just put the standard,
like, non-turbo Subaru, flat flat interest in them and they still bloody, haven't they still go?
Well, so I went out with a WRX engine.
That would be horrifically, terrifying, but so much fun.
So I do a lot of the combi companies here in Australia that like that Rincon bees for like you can you can rent them.
Like just too. Drive greater Assurance.
I think they've all been converted to like Subaru engines because they just can't keep up with modern traffic and everything. So, okay, yeah, which is
actually, which is actually really cool.
Wow. All right so if you had to pick
one ultimate Road, gentleman, where we going and and what, and what car you taking on that road.
You know, we driving too fast and hard or cruising you can do one for each other's. Yeah.
So cruising the PCH your job driven from count all the way from San Diego to San Francisco Coast Highway What was that?
I drive a Chevy Suburban but beside the point it was still.
That's I'm saying was a cruising drive and it was a fantastic case for drive to go down. Brilliant scenery great Wind,
You roads and it would have been great to me, you know, a faster car in some of the sections. But it was just Joy is joyful
driving any car really? Yeah.
So so the parts of it was fantastic.
Awesome, awesome scenery, that's one.
And then again for me to be, you know, sort of like a mountain path somewhere with no disruptions somewhere through Switzerland Austria, the roads in Austria are phenomenal.
So, any road up through the Austrian Alps would be something worthwhile doing Yeah. Car, what car or do you go by
bike? I'd go bike.
But if I have to drive a car, At the moment.
I'm sorry. I just I love my AMG GT Mercedes
but I probably do it with a Porsche, believe it or not, dark nebula kind of do it in. Yep.
Just don't like open. I stopped 9/11.
Yeah I can. Then that would be a double
you're cracking care for it. Yeah.
Scotty gets it. Cruising Road are probably
thinking Route 66? Yeah, that'd be cool.
Got to be in a muscle car. Yeah.
Billion towards me. Maybe a Mustang, but something
about a like Dodge Charger, or something or challenge, either, an older one, or a new one would be just like perfect muscle car, cruising, and my last one is one of the roads in Japan.
I'd like to go on one of their Mountain Roads.
You know, I was thinking gdr, but I think a card that I've never have a chance to drive would have to Be an NSX and there's 60 in a or in see, you know, I wouldn't mind either way to tell you the truth. It's just it's one of those
things that you'd never get to. Hmm.
Just that expensive really see them and to be able to drive one in its natural habitat, You my method, that's been defunded drive a couple of times. The first time he drove a series
first, gen NSX, and then the second time, he drove the second gen NSX. Yep.
And he said, he said, both brilliant cars.
Obviously is 100 that like me, but he said comparative.
Why's he said the new ones? Like a playing a computer game.
It's it compared to the the real Driving Experience of the DNA.
So, he'd have to be DNA of It'll be so easy in a car like that I would know if you just do it easily, like you just be like I can just just go anywhere, it just it just handles.
Well, it'll it just feel it, it feels so easy, you know?
And, and I think I think like, wow, that's incredible.
And and, and, and from all accounts, the the, the latest NSX is a phenomenal car. Just that, that pure driving joy
out of like a that raw visceral experience at her like an early, you know, NSX one of the best sounding V6 has to and amazing sound ev6 especially when they're when they're up on the VTEC, or on the tech on the tech, a good noise.
Oh yeah, mr. Prince, Wu look, big convention.
I've actually got a sticker that Mitch brought me back from the Nurburgring. That's the, the you see on a
look offsets, the map of the Nurburgring.
Yes. Remaining.
She says and it's got a little omelet over the, the EU in mine actually, says, never been. Yeah, so I Probably probably
have to say the Nurburgring. And I like, I'd be happy in
something like a, I didn't have been one of the rentals.
Like they've got a fleet of Suzuki Swift actually.
Yeah, yeah, Swiss Swiss. Yes, we Sports.
And that's what that really says.
A lot about German cars. Doesn't it there?
Well, it does it does, but running Suzuki Swift Sports.
They're beating the crap out of there and they still work.
Let's do it exactly. If we had a name to order
bracket, Noun 1. Yeah, and the cool the cool
thing about that is as on the podcast before we talked about the coolness and actually driving a slow car fast compared to a fast car slow so you would be absolutely have a ball of fun, I think. But like roll, I'd like it to
myself. Thank so actually pay the extra
money and just hire it work for myself.
So I can don't have to worry about other than that, is in the 911s and the Maseratis, and the Ferraris, you know, coming past warp speed. So, so, yeah.
And I think probably, Really, I think I'm with Scotty.
I think I'd be in an in a NSX but probably dialog perhaps.
Doing the Fuji Five Lakes Road which is a 350k road that sort of winds up through the Lakes, under the in the foot at the foot of Mount Fuji. I think that already sounds good
Scotty just going back to Route 66.
I try to follow that road from Santa Monica pier where it finishes? Yep.
All the way back up through Arizona.
And the road is cut off it, so many sections of Roads washed away, and they were carrying it all the time, but it's still worthwhile that you're on and off it down, you know, sort of down the Southern and Southwestern side of Route. 66,
I don't know what it's like further north so I can.
Yep, a lot of. It's washed away through Arizona
and California. Yeah, yeah but yeah, fish the
Santa Monica Pier. So there you go, which is the,
which is the road that they do the cannibal run on.
Like it's like the Because I think straight straight from point to point two routes from east coast to West Coast year.
Yeah. And they've been breaking the
records during covid recently. You know, they're doing it in
20-something hours a day. They work through.
Yeah. So and uniting wasn't to do it
because they're looking discreet.
They make it look inconspicuous as bit as much as I can and they have spotters on every bridge right throughout the entire route. So to make sure that goes Fast
as I can. It's just amazing.
It's so crazy. Insane.
Yeah, for me ultimate driving Road would probably be the going to put in the name of this. The the hakone hakone or hakone
terminated from, for gt40s to Aston, Martin's to everything and just like I've seen like aerial views of the actual Road.
It looks Edge, where. Where is it?
Where is it, Japan? Japan.
Yeah, and I would probably do that in my MR2.
I reckon that would be a fun, a fun little, you know, if I realize you could do that. You could ship your cabbage
Japan. With a carne de passage and
like, a passport for your car and you could have it hidden in Japan for a year. You know, when you mention that
to me last night, oh, I research that.
I like that would be so damn cool because it There are any of you guys saw this guy in a Australian whole Australian family, they had a Holden Caprice via saw that the other day, yet the, a capris or something.
And they, they drove what 40,000 kilometers over four countries or something like that. Like four continents, I think it
was that, they drove it on, they drove it in America.
They drove it in Europe. Obviously in Australia and I'll
come with the El Pais with the world with a driver but no driver, right. Road, right through Russia,
Russia. Yeah, there you go.
And I'm like that is so cool. That's not.
It still had like Victorian plates will or whatever place was, and I like that would be the people be, like, what the hell is that? It's just God.
All right, past you. But how's that for a family road
trip? That's what I call a writer.
If that's that, it's, that's sick.
Then the radius and we there yet.
No velvet seats. Did it?
No, it was, it was the, it was a, have the black leather, but it was, it was like, it was like to 2002.
Unreliable for the first like fuse that they owned it.
They took it on his road trip and it didn't break down once.
It was perfectly reliable. So well, so that the car was
testing them before. It was like, don't take me
because I'll, I will be reliable.
Hey Cleo. I'll prove to you that a
reliable. She's a brave sticking with a,
wouldn't they? I don't know if I would have
done that. Probably you're probably very,
very foreign car in a And not and not ideal conditions.
Oh, I don't think I would be, would be happy with that.
You don't read much about it, isn't there a rally that we're Australians Drive their cars across the world, through China, Mongolia Europe, all these. I think there is a row of I come
up with the name of it is but it's I know exactly what you're talking about and and low, but people do it from all over the world. Like, they'll be they bring
their cars there and then they just, they just go and it's yeah, I don't know what that's called.
That would be cool too. It'll be really cool.
So like, okay, so next year, it's going to be two things in the year. After that, I'll take the mi-2
to Japan, and then drive it. And then I'll buy that seven
thousand dollar place and in Pocket there, and then, and then after that, Maddie's save up to do the Gumball 3000 double through this everywhere. Currently, it's in Middle East,
Middle East. Yeah.
They're looking at the, at the moment might be finished now, but I just saw a few feeds of it popping up and that's where it is. This time around but you're
usually Europe and that and they've done it America here and there. So it gets around if you're
rich. It's worth it.
Because, you know, you go to the places and then all the hotels and everything will pay for such a lot of fun to dream.
So yeah, I think that would be my ultimate Road and if I look to a cruising were Road. That's a good question.
I don't really know. Probably our freeway.
Yeah, totally. Hello, freeway 5:30 p.m. on a
work night and stressful at all. Any other roads before you want
to chip in there before we move on to cryptic cars.
Now, the roads that Well Scotty, it's your turn for cryptic arzo as as it normally is all. Get.
All right. I'll get notepad up.
Really ready to go. Thank you.
I've got some good ones on proud of some of these ones.
I've got a couple movies thrown in there.
How many movies? I put up three movies as in this
one. Okay.
Also, these aren't kids are not Cars necessarily the Mars.
I've just thrown in some car movies like a case.
Right, right, right. Yeah.
Yeah. All right.
Very first question, I'm going to go well hey a Lamborghini devil, Matthew. Oh Diablo yes it is on the board
guys. Go check.
The holiday help me here. All right, question to it.
Jensen Hinderer, David David I'm presume use Interceptor.
Yes. So to hinder someone is also
take intercept intercept as opposed to the he Justin Ambassador Ambassador. Yeah, that's the Kyle Allen came
home from the hospital in just just just so you know.
Question 3, this is a movie and this is probably my favorite one when I change the name of it. So let's see how quick you can
get. This one is called speedy and
the Raging Oriental slide. Rob, row Gone in 60 Seconds.
BTW gone. 16 raging Oriental slide.
Thank you adrift. Yeah and the Furious I'm like
the most so speedy and I'm like, well I probably can be fast and furious because it but I'm like what's an oriental slide?
Is that a Drifters? I like yeah.
Okay. Tokyo Drift Oriental slide so
bad. I like that one.
I was good. Oh I'm sorry.
All right. Question number four a Jeep
Warrior. Maybe David.
Yeah. Warrior Jeep Warrior.
Could be. Could be several?
No, probably not. Cherokee Rob Roblin Patriot.
Nope. No.
Okay. No, it was the gladiator
question. Number five, you need to think
of your colors, okay? So hopefully, you know, your
colors. Okay, so I've got here, the
Pontiac teal. Do you think of a color that's
similar to teal? The first was Pontiac.
Yep. Oh geez, I'm teal thing would
call David David, not thinking of the Pontiac Aztek I as Yeah, as type of glue. That's why I've gone with teal.
Geez, think less cool. Let's go way less, cool.
All right, what decade? Oh, I think there were maybe
like, 90s early 2000s. That's not old small.
Carp is the Pontiac Tempest? No, it's not the Ferrero.
Nope. Yeah.
What was the other one that was? Are they chocolate covered those
ones? Yeah, don't burn to know.
I've got should no idea. Do you?
I'm still hot. I'm still haunted by Chevy's
were holding spark last week that the Pontiac Cobalt cobalt blue. Yeah.
Tricky. I mean it's not like we got here
anything and as I said, very well known because they did a Chevy Cobalt as well, didn't know pretty sure that it should be. Yeah.
I think I did. Yep, they're model.
All right. Question number 6 is another
movie the title of this movie is infant motorists, David David, maybe driver. Correct.
Zero. This is surreal because I'm I
think I'm just getting it out to how many weeks have you been doing? What's up with question 7, I'm
going to give you obviously the manufacturer and then it's going to be two words that you need to put together to make the one word if that makes sense. Okay, because when that words
put together, it's like, I can't find a word to it, but you have it. Two separate, put it together.
I don't know. It all makes sense.
It makes sense. If you can get each of those two
words, if you get those two words, put it together and say, okay. All right, I'm hoping it makes
sense. I want to seconds to go because
it is there's not that many that who for this the Holden Majesty Timber. Matthew, Matthew, the Kingswood.
Yes, is the best way I could kind of, do I want to get some Aussie? Remember, if I done this one
before this next one, but we'll give it a go question, eight.
The Ford region. David David for territory?
Yes. Hold on.
Yeah, that's awell region. Yeah.
Okay. This question, nine were heading
back over to America Drew and his, the Mercury shooting star.
Matthew. Matthew, that would be the
comet. No, it's not the one I'm
thinking of sorry, I'll have to give you at least half a point for the I'll take a point five. I think 0.5 Yeah, my apologies.
I should have looked a little bit harder on that.
Oh, that's alright. That's alright.
You know he's shooting Sun Mercury Comet, there was a was the other one that was big rocks in space.
What do we call them Comet? And this is no not comment as an
esper asteroid help. Some of them moves Bakery.
Is it not the meteor idiot?
It's All in the Family. All right, who's winning the
leaderboard? Alright, the last one to finish
off question 10. It's a movie is a worth like two
points than just in society. This was a movie not the best
movie, but let's see if we can get it.
It is require for Pace. Matthew, Matthew, the Need for
Speed. Yes, for Pace.
Need for Speed School trick, Robin 0 myself, on 3.5 and
tonight's winner by 0.5 is with the name.
Wow, well done and cute. Could have been anyone's game.
It was still anyone's game. Very good.
Cryptic cars. Are you having school
medication? Okay.
Quickly, see we go question 1. What name has Toyota given to
the top spec model in its new Corolla cross SUV range, geez.
You'd all be rushing out to buy a new crawl across SUV.
I'm sure you can. I was just trying to find the
brochures the other day, she X or e g XL aura, What's a nuclear Holocaust? Is it going to be X?
I know it's got a name or does it.
It's not it's not Edge because that's that's rare for.
That's right. And it's not Cruiser.
No, it's good. And the Yaris crosses Urban, I'm
pretty sure that's right. What is the one for the girl?
I'm going to say the Corolla, jeez, rugged, I don't know.
So unfortunately, there's not great for some reason.
It's called the atmos even mean. Suppose a short fat atmosphere
and consumed. Her panoramic roof that doesn't
open. It doesn't even give you access
about. They are ranges.
Okay it's a question of the night, thanks.
Very much. Well did you just put it out
there guys? Just put in for our listeners.
Rob's could back up. He's got his good Holly now he's
running and he's 80 points. Okay Christian to how many in
cars does high-end a offer in Australia now?
That's a felony. Hang on.
Angela. I was just going to say they
offer an endline package but there there are a number of n cars. How many are offered Matthew?
Yes. So this could be a trick
question. So I'm so basically they've got
the I30 hatch and the I30 sedan, all right?
If your client counting them as to the Kona and and the I-20 in that would be for is it's for your answer.
Why is my answer incorrect? Oh, Rob liefeld was three.
That would be incorrect. No, Scott, Scotty.
Here we go. Correct.
No, I would have gone for as well.
But actually, according to web site, they offer the Kona, the I-20, the I30 hatch, the I30 Fastback, and the I30 sedan, okay? Yeah, that's fair.
Question 3. What was the recommended?
Retail price of the Mazda? MX-5 on release in March 1990,
closest wins to you. Matthew Tillis me.
What you think? I'm going to say that was
Another thing when cheap, but they weren't super expensive when they find they first came because I think they weren't sure if they were going to be as successful as they were.
So I'm going to say 2026 990. All right?
36 99026 990. Wrong and only 23 993. 994 me
three! No no.
Scotty 9990 roof. No nothing.
Like it. Matthew you win the point.
It was twenty nine thousand five hundred dollars on release in 1990 which 1990 my goodness. That's quite pricey little car.
What my am I to when it was brand-new was like Like I think in 1980s prices was like 35 Grand or something.
It was, it was a lot of money, it was an expensive car, so yeah, when you advertise it through two values today, that's here. That's a lot of lot of
spondoolie. Lot of coin.
Question 4. It's got to be the Senate on the
question in the EEG. Civic range from late 91 through
to 1995 the top. Spec model was originally
batched SI, then the update was badged.
Vti aside from the adoption of the variable valve timing bti.
Something significant was missing from the vti models, what was it? In the engine in the engine.
The variable valves, no, no, no, our side for the variable bowels, it goes, it's getting even and then the flagship of the range was Then badge.
Vti. Yeah.
Because I know amalgam Matthew, I believe they went to a state.
Use the single cam engine instead of instead of a twin cam Matthew. You are 100% correct.
Yeah, I was right too. Yeah, this is the Christian
aside from the adoption of area exclusion.
It okay question 5 which Ozzy built car had limited Is available of grand slam red line and Livewire, drop.
As you Rob, I'm at all. No, not correct.
Matthew Matthew will be the laser and would be the laser.
Wow, hmm. Oh no, I had a red line ID.
Yeah. The Grand Slam tennis ball
graphics on the side. I mean, how cool is that?
Yeah, it's been for was sponsoring the Australian Open.
I've got a picture for my mom when she first came to Melbourne years ago. She mom's a big tennis fan.
Right? And she went to she went, she
went to it was it was kooyong back and I think it was and and up at the top of the stands was to Don't Clap too young for.
Yeah, they had this Ford sponsored the Australian Open Forever Until King. They had at the top of the
picture. I white Casey laser, you know,
and it was had all Graphics down inside.
I was like, I'm pretty sure that that was, you know, kind of what you're saying. And I've worked on afford laser
live, why I almost bought one a while ago, so I was like, has to be lazy ass to be amazing history.
Okay, question 6. Now the token on the question.
What Honda was the first Honda to carry the now?
Iconic Red Badge. Read Abit.
Sorry. Okay.
Yeah, I'm trying to think Matt Matthew.
I'm going to say much because I don't, I don't think it's NSX.
I'm going to put a might be And insects are correct.
I was almost going to say EK type of but I was like I was very close 30 year anniversary of the NSX R.
So I won't called the top that you quite correctly intersects with the NSX R and any K was the first type are but yeah that was released in 1992 question 7 or how the score check Matthew School? Check I like I should say this
proudly myself in for Robert Holley at the score and Scotty on one coming up. Come on, Rob, you've got your
backup, man. He's here to help you.
This one's got you in mine Rob. It's not a piece of me.
Six is not the answer. Just say.
Okay? And produced the narrowed
Australia initially from 1967 to 1978.
What was unusual about the spinal HZ version.
Twisting bit of a trick question but you're all smart people say well what was unusual about it? What was unusual about the h z
version? I said an hour did any criminal
to do Rob? No, it didn't actually, you
could go to the four-minute doodle, you can get those afford, all right? Because you could get them
because the GDs had a GDs and then they Dad. you get them and
I'm pretty sure you get as a photo attitude or But that was the only model that so Matty. That was the, that was the only
one area that you could get them as a photo correct.
Is that? That my is no, that's not great.
Okay, okay. Scotty name.
Different fronts. Have something like Statesman
from a different reason, but that was because they went through each morning. Each Jaso.
That's not it. Well I holding viewers are gonna
be like they like I'll never listen to this program again.
Do yelling at the radii, right? I got the the the answer is that
it actually wasn't called the Monaro was benched the Holden GTS and it was only a four-door. The last of the two doors, was
the ls in the HX range, okay? The painted with the, the
burgundy colored ones with the The gold really cast Wheels.
Yeah, I actually really like those.
I think there are cool. I think they're good looking
car. That is, I love that.
And in typical Aussie fashion, I went through all the parts being and just clearing them all out at the end.
So like, they didn't have, except I had an 8-track cartridge player when you're still couldn't, you couldn't actually buy a contract, cartridge is pretty much any more. But, but yeah, well, I thought
it was quite well known that the it was in mineiro and every way except name Is it because I just called it holding GTS with RTS just straighten through suspension question 8, the second generation mineiro released in 2001 was marketed internationally, as well, as in Australia and all together came badged five, different ways. So one point for each of the 5
different names. Matthew Scott, okay.
Matthew you start and then stop get ready to fill in the blanks.
If you can't name them all. Okay.
So do what you can? You can obviously is one.
Yep. They and whole haters Vis didn't
tell his men are they sort of his GTS?
Certainly GTO and I should speak kupe.
I'm whooping. Yeah whooping.
Yeah. But they had the G.
Think it was a GTO and you can get them as a as a coupe for I believe, because you can get them as the, the all-wheel-drive Australia's Quattro. And It was called the GTO in
America. Yeah.
And one more row, I'm out. Yeah, I think that's the for I
can remember going to chime in for the last two years to chime in to the last a voxel. Vxr correct.
So and we probably missing one technically because all I still missing one lump the HSV cars together different, wasn't it?
Well, there was still the whole inversions.
Okay? Okay, so after you had the
Holden Monaro, yep, had the HSV range.
Obviously the crew pain them GTO and the Pontiac GTO.
Okay. It's what you had the Vauxhall
Monaro vxr. Yeah, the Vauxhall.
Vxr8 is one more. That was not marketed in
Australia. Not marketed in America, not
marketed in the UK. It was, it would have been as
New Zealand or Africa. Come up with the point for the
last night Chevy Chevy. It was the Chevrolet something
coupet. No. hahaha definitely have a
point but if you become absolutely with the add-on, Is this it ends with bench this as well, but this was the Qutub.
Minar owes obviously the creepy version.
I'm just sort of try any other than that I guess.
Was it the SS Cooper? No it was the Chevrolet Lumina
could pay made of aluminum. Yeah I went by the Bell.
Yeah so the the five different. Benched variants.
Hold One HSV Coupe, a Chevy Lumina Coupe.
A Pontiac GTO Vauxhall. Monaro.
Vxr is it got around? It?
Did it. Did question 9.
Sorry, the very loved car. It's
Reveal reveal debut. And Ford was like, looking on
your car. It was like, yeah, that's cool.
And then they sort of holding they completed over the Falcon, you know, in the bird would Museum, they've got a convertible that which is a prototype.
Is that was cool, pretty car. What's the cheapest new car
available today in Australia? Rob is the mg I'm 33.
No, it's not actually one cheaper.
Y'all was gonna I was gonna say exactly the same that was the same G3, hate that not surprisingly.
Let's go to your next I guess you're not so it's going to say MJ 3. So now that I think of it is
recommended. Retail price is not so process
or call anything that list price going in the price possibly that we always are the bonus question for cells to the cross.
You would think of is those The Mirage, but they're not cheap anymore. No, and I don't think they're
available anymore. What I think that passed one of
the ideas now. Okay, I think the last Mirage is
they had to register before the end of 20 21, I think some of the key of the cantos are expensive.
They are expensive. Now, now that might be the
answer. According to the statistics
today. Is that your answer Holly?
Yes, my inside your great. It's the keep, the can.
Okay. Now the energy comes in at 18
990, I think in the can do is, is 18, 490.
Can I just say how cool how good it can do is like I love them.
I reckon they're cracking little thing.
Well, the bag of the moment you can get a manual GT line but Canto, 499 drive away. I mean that's that's good.
Everything little car, everything.
You will see, this is day. I was looking at the zoo Kyoto
and I thought though, around that price but they're not bit bloody expensive. Yeah, you're 23 or 24 years. 24
crazy. Gone are the days of the celerio
and all those things that were just cheap nuggets.
Don't exist anymore. Okay, question last question.
How many generations of one of the world's top selling cars as we discussed a couple of weeks? Given the podcast, the Ford
Escort, how many generations of the Ford Escort was sold in Australia. Matthew?
Matthew, that would be to that would be correct.
Yeah, I simple no arguments. That don't know, corresponds
ended into it was the first generation and then the European formula. It's a basic underneath the
virtually the same car but with Can I came when the European this earmark to came out? It that was a really smart
looking car. Very good package.
It's just not me but, you know, I still think to look at their good-looking cave in the first and second and there is course, there were the right size, the tough, tough as nails.
That I mean, they rallied the crap out of him.
And I just think that we still do yet still be very they're one of the best Regatta rally cars of all time.
So but I think people hold the mic one time.
Back to escorts in very high regard.
That was one of my first I suppose not drive as a passenger in one of those was an heiress 2002 door.
It's tall. It's like, I still can't.
I still remember today was in it.
Just flew that car? Yeah, amazing.
Yeah, the cool thing was, of course, we got them out of the box. We Broad Meadows with a
two-liter. We were probably one of the only
Market you could get a GL2 later, so just Bo base to Door GM or Ford or with the 2-liter for and I'm in the UK.
I think they suffered through 1.0 1.1 1.3 0.6, I think and we
just did the 1.6 in the one point and 2 litres.
Funny story about the rst thousands of we were the only place to get the photo, okay? The only kind of like, people in
the UK import, our RS 2000 Ford, or because that because they never got them there and call bit of history about the The RS 2000. There were two types that were
over here in Australia. They were the German ones, which
only 25 were imported. They were there really early
cars and you can tell them apart from the Ford ones because they had, I believe Ford written in letters on the front whereas the Aussie dollar ones had the had the blue.
Oval he go. And then yeah.
So like the first 25 were with the do with the german-built ones because alone good cows and they had a different engine and I had a whole bunch of different other specs.
The only one will become more and more tough less powerful version, but more rugged my my uncle.
The one, can he regret selling was his because he's back to escort to do had a, to leader in it, and he put a hot cam in it and exhaust. And he's like, the thing would
sit at a grand all day every day, and I would just add.
And he's like, I used to beat V8 and stuff in it all the time and he sold it and the guy started to rolled it a week later and he was never forget, you never games off of selling, he's like best. I've ever had and he's like, I
can't believe I solve it. So yeah, but a bit of History,
if you will know about the difference between our for escorts, and the German ones, which we got there is there, is there some cool history history, unlike the RS club Owners, you know, website and stuff. Which yeah, really, really cool.
They have to have, they had they had all different different sorts of things but really, really cool.
So interesting, history lesson. So, 25 were German and they were
very different to the ones we got.
But it's not the last question, mr.
Prince, it was the last that was question, 10.
That was question tents. Korchek, Robert Holley on 1.5
Scotty on to and myself. One, two, three, four, five on
8, so, yeah, I know. I it's, I'm back.
