Welcome to the Revival Motorang Popcast.
It sounds like Dracula, but...
Welcome to the World Cup coverage by Revival Motorang.
That's the whole, I don't know if you've ever heard of Spanish soccer announcer, but they
sound like Dracula.
I haven't.
I know exactly what he's talking about.
Oh, yeah?
As long as it doesn't yell golf for the next 36 seconds straight.
Now you're fucked.
Yeah.
All right.
Top left.

1232
Wow.
That was loud.
I'm Josh Garcia, and this is the Revival Motorang Podcast, and I'm joined by the lovely Scott.
I am your host, Scott.
Ed Nick.
Morton.
I'm also your host, Nick.
And I guess Corey.
Yeah, I'm here.
Wait, he was pausing before he said the R. Nick.
R. R.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like a pirate.
Yeah.
This week on this podcast, we're going to talk about stuff with things of a visit to
Helen, keeping up with why the Midwest CT boys take over to put in this piece and why
the Midwest is called the Midwest.
Exactly.
Why it's not.
It's kind of the sort of East.
Just called the top mid.
Do we know?
We just discussed.
We don't know why it's called the midway.
We're going to get into it.
We're going to figure that out on this podcast.
Anyway, it's brought to you by listeners like you, you guys, you know, just like you.
If you're listening to the show, you can tune in live.
You can check it out.
We're going to talk about bucks to the boys later, even though we don't have any money.
Well, we actually know we don't have any money, but I don't have the dollar amounts either.
So I won't be able to really give you a number.
I can just like make one up.
I can pretend.
What happened to the days of like wild donations during the show?
You know, it's funny.
Bring it back.
You know, it's funny.
I have a record of the highest one ever.
It was a Brett Sloan situation.
Sloan.
Sloan was definitely involved in that.
You know, I was making it rain.
Brett, since this is the 400th episode, because I'm here now, you are missed because we were
on the 100 and 200 together, but you missed the 300.
Yeah, that's fine.
But now I'm here for the 400 and you are missed.
I'm glad you're here in a one dimensional form.
Yeah.
You're a skinny guy, but you're not that skinny.
Uh, but anyway, yeah, check out our website and buy some t-shirts.
They're comfy.
They're cool.
They're good.
It's summertime by the rest of the cleaning products.
They're going to be gone forever.
No one wants to see your hairy chest.
So we're sure that's it.
No one's seen a dirty car either.
So use them.
I'm using a shirt and use our shirt as a towel.
Very factual.
Yeah, you could do that.
You could do that for sure.
That's how soft they are.
But yeah, we're going to talk about some things and some stuff and some people.
Can we just talk right about the Midwest being called Midwest?
Sure.
It's killing me.
Sure.
You were right.
Yeah, they got, they got pretty far and they were like, we must be.
This has to be it.
Who's they, Nick?
This must be the West.
Well, the country was founded in the East.
You hear that West?
Yeah, but when you sing they, you're talking about pioneers.
Okay.
Yeah, they were like the engines.
Come on.
We're all close.
We're close to the West.
This must be the Midwest.
The Mayflower boys.
God damn it's so much farther than I thought.
So this what that or sorry, Ohio was referred to as the West.
That was just as far as they went.
And then when they sound like a trip home from Helen, Nick, man, I thought we're almost
there.
No, you're never home from Helen.
Nope.
I mean, like, that'd be like pooping out of your butt and then find out you have another
butt.
And you're like, Oh, I just took a shit out of my mid butt.
It's like, what are you talking?
I don't know.
Isn't there a woman with two vaginas?
Pretty sure.
I'm positive.
Actually, there is.
I saw it in the news.
The, the problem with that, my news feed is wild.
The problem with the whole thing is that they departed.
It's like, they'd only ever been to Illinois.
Illinois is as far as anyone's ever been.
Yeah.
And no one knew how far, you know, it wasn't to the other side.
That's right.
So you think about how far Illinois is from here, from New York.
Most people were departing from New York, from New York to Illinois.
You want the journey just from then in like 1830, 1840, what would be like to travel from
New York to Illinois to stand start?
That's if you even make it.
Well, I mean, to be fair, those people didn't really know.
Side of this entire area.
They were like, Oh, there's an ocean over there.
Like, yeah, they didn't know what that was all about.
So to them, traveling for like five days and losing several family members, they were like,
we're there.
This is it.
This is why we have states.
Dude, they would travel for five days and get from like Connecticut to Massachusetts.
Massachusetts.
Yeah, exactly.
No, like, yeah, we lost everyone.
Yeah, we didn't bring a tongue.
That's probably one.
Like you're saying, they only made as far to be like, Hey, we're down in manpower.
I guess this is where we're going to call it.
Yeah, right.
This is where we just set up shop.
Farms as far as the I can see.
Yeah, true.
Do you fly over the Midwest?
Like the real legit, like Dakotas and shit like that, where you're not a big flyer.
Yeah, I don't like it.
It's wild out there.
It's just a grid.
It looks fake.
I fly East more than I fly West.
How fast do you think they try?
What was the average speed that they would travel at back in back in yonder days?
They all had one leg.
So like 10 miles an hour in a car.
No, not even 10 miles an hour away.
It's like 1.5 tops.
Yeah, like a day.
Well, I'll tell you this walking speed is three miles an hour.
Right.
Yeah, but they were slower than walking with the cart and the thing.
Horses.
I know.
I believe it's less than three.
Uh, well, I'll tell you this.
We drove through Kansas at probably 65 miles an hour for eight hours.
Yeah.
And when I opened the map, we were at the K.
I fell asleep for a long time.
We were at the second A and I almost killed myself.
But perception was different back then too.
I've heard that from Kansas.
That like it's brutal.
Imagine you're just riding your horse and buggy and it's like just big signs on the
side of the road.
They're like, Jesus.
Well, it's 12 hours.
No abortion.
It's 12 hours driving to Illinois from Connecticut, my house.
Yeah.
Cause I just did it.
Well, I'm going to hang myself in the Bible.
I feel actually I think it's a little more.
It's almost probably 13.
Yeah.
Yes.
Springfield was like the main departure.
Um, what did they call him back then?
Like a hub?
What's that point?
Yeah.
It was like your store that you would get all your supplies.
General store.
Yeah.
That'd be like them.
That was like the first in the biggest and that's where you gathered everything for your
journey.
West colony.
So that was the Midwest.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We are midway to the West.
And that's why they thought it was a good point.
Now you look at it on a map.
It's kind of funny.
Really what it is.
It's not the middle of the West.
It's no, they just thought that that was the West of the journey to the West.
They didn't know that there was any more West.
I don't know.
It's a bug and it's going for a shook right now.
No, there's bugs.
No, it's in the crack.
Get it.
You killed it with your hand.
No.
And now it's dead.
There's bugs falling out of the ceiling at revival.
Is it really?
Did it fall out of the ceiling?
Yes.
Nick saw it.
Just the one that fell out of the ceiling.
Right.
Yeah.
Sure.
I'm not trying to like talk bad.
No, if it did, it did.
So that's where they thought that's how far they thought were there.
They did it.
Springfield, Illinois right there.
That was departure.
Look how much more they had to know.
It should be called the Far East.
Most in most people.
Colorado.
Imagine, imagine getting to the Rockies.
Most people in a carriage.
This is where they stopped.
All right.
Forget it.
It keeps going up.
What the fuck?
They were nervous of the Appalachian mountains to get around them.
Imagine being in Illinois and then you're just, you made it to Utah and you're like
writing a letter home like, guys, there's, we thought there's a lot of, a lot of stuff
out here.
No one's ever going to be able to control all this land.
Yeah.
And that's why there's a lot in Montana too, because people rode this all the way up until
it was flatter.
And then they said, you know what?
That's it.
I will say that even though we're on the East coast, my perception of East coast geography
is so off.
I always think that Ohio is like northeast of us, northwest of us, but obviously it's
actually south of us.
Yeah.
By quite a bit.
And where we went in Georgia is extremely far west.
The Cleveland lines right up with New Haven basically.
Yep.
What do we get?
Same, same.
Same, same.
Same, same.
So anyway, that's your geography.
Bermuda considered a Caribbean island cause man, it's far from the rest of them.
That's it.
Bermuda is out.
Five whole minute geography free.
What does this even have to do with cars?
Drive to Bermuda.
Nick, you can't just talking about the Midwest before we started the show.
True.
Mainly because Scott part took in driving to the Midwest and he seemed to rather
perturbed about it being called Midwest.
So I'm just curious.
It is just not very West.
They just called it the mid the mid or not that far.
Right.
It's it's east of the Mississippi.
It should not be called the West in any which way.
Should I call my opinion?
What about the Middle East?
That'd be better than the middle.
I would agree.
Just know if there's religious problems on area.
It's never going to be fixed.
No matter what.
But yeah, that's that's that's the map for you.
Yeah, you got any of the backs that we call?
Yeah, you got the button.
Second one down.
If you'd like to leave a call back number, press two.
Where's number two?
I can't hit it.
What am I doing?
What do you mean?
You just had it.
Oh, the two.
I was talking with shook about this earlier.
I had one blue seat belt in my car in the Honda to be totally specific.
So I bought a set of factory blue seat belts and they looked good in photos.
And then they showed up and they were like, it's just not really what I'm.
It they're blue, but it's kind of the dirty.
The sun faded Chinese grease.
So I decided I wasn't going to put him in last year.
And I was like, you know what?
There's people who like redo seat belts and start poking around online and I see it.
And people do it.
It's whatever.
Like this must be like a jagellion dollars, right?
That's something kind of new though.
Like four years ago, there was no one doing seat belts.
Now there's 50 places all redoing seat belts.
Anyway, go.
Yeah.
So I had been thinking and doing it.
I wanted to do it in the winter.
I didn't do it.
I hadn't had a second set.
So I didn't have to take the whole car apart.
I could just ship them out.
They'd be refinished and I'd get them back and put them in the car.
Finally, I was like, you know what?
What are we doing?
Let's just call this place up there in Massachusetts.
They're super, super close.
Get the guy on the phone.
Super nice.
This is what I want.
Bing, bang, boom.
They replaced the entire mechanism inside.
It's like all brand new, new webbing, all new stitched as a new pattern.
They use it's safer.
The whole nine.
I was telling shook.
I shipped them out Monday.
They got them Tuesday at 11am, Tuesday at 7pm.
I got the return label that it's coming back to me.
They'll be delivered tomorrow.
Well, you could have printed the return label before they were done,
but you could have gotten Mr. tricky shipping.
No, no, Wednesday.
So we printed the return label Tuesday and this morning when I got into work
and refreshed it, it was back here.
Picked up.
Nice.
Yeah.
So either way, the whole system works.
Fast, fast.
Your hopes high.
Our reviews are high.
Yeah.
Everything looks good.
Yeah.
So the Civic doesn't have the charged seatbelts.
No, no, no.
The hopes are to look like nothing ever changed.
I like it.
Oh, plus the same exact color Navy.
No pattern.
No.
It's going to say there's some electric blues out there.
There is some vibrant, vibrant blues, but I just wanted the factory.
I wanted to look like it never happened, but be new and, you know, the seatbelts,
they get lazy.
They stop recoiling nicely.
All that stretch a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They warp and all that stuff there.
So it'll be like brand new seatbelts.
I'm dressed.
I'm excited.
You should be.
Do you have my pre like a shoulder pad things?
I should.
For racing.
I should go with the Bible motoring.
Oh, we should make those.
What the fuck?
I should go with the motor.
Thanks.
One of the first, you know, one of the reasons I'm into Volkswagen is because of the 98
drivers edition or 97 drivers edition mark three VR six and it had red accents on the
seatbelt.
And I was like, yeah, just talking about how he could have done red stitching on the
shift.
Guys, I just realized he was called the Midwest and I just came up with this off the top of
my head.
No one else said this.
It's because at the time it was the furthest west of the country was like Minnesota.
So that was the Midwest.
And I just came up with that.
Matt definitely didn't say that.
In the chat.
Okay.
I mean, that's, uh, that's what I said in the beginning.
I mean, that's like so four minutes ago, dude.
We're so beyond.
I said that.
Did I not say that?
It was as far as we knew.
No, no, it's not because it was already people in California setting letters back and that's
why people were going out there.
Um, this wasn't part of the country.
Yeah.
Okay.
So anyway, seatbelt.
I'm excited.
It's the same thing when you put them in.
I don't know.
Maybe second Monday next week, Friday, Saturday.
I don't know.
We'll see.
Put them in.
Be nice.
How was your first father's day?
It was amazing.
Oh yeah.
You're a first father's day dad.
First father's day.
It was amazing.
It was everything I wanted to do.
I woke up, hung out with the baby.
We made breakfast on the blackstone.
They're going to say something else.
Go ahead.
We made love.
No, no, no way.
We made another baby.
We made breakfast on the blackstone.
We ate our side in the backyard.
It was awesome.
I get this like little like splash pad for her to play in.
We played in that for a while.
It rocked.
I got photos.
I can show you guys.
I have a feeling like the baby not involved in the splash pad
at all.
It was just you.
Yeah.
You were just having a blast.
Then I busted out the pizza oven.
I was cooking pies.
It was good.
And then I went and got ice cream to end it.
What an eight like a king.
It was the best.
What's your ice cream preference?
This was a wild one.
This is a pretty wild one.
I got usually I do.
It's a peanut butter.
Nice.
And Oreo ice cream that I normally get from this place.
It's actually.
500 feet from here.
What are we doing?
Yeah.
We got to wrap up this podcast.
Thanks for joining.
I got some ice cream.
So they do they do a Sunday like a special Sunday of every
single week.
And it's not the window I want.
Here it is.
So free plug for them because I love them.
Sunshine Creamery over here in East Providence, Rhode Island.
This is what I got on Father's Day.
Sticky cinnamon bun.
It was delectable.
It was delicious.
Looks like diabetes to me.
It was unbelievable.
And yeah, I saw the greatest ever.
It was the greatest.
Hung out.
Didn't didn't leave the house.
Just hang out with the wife and the kid and cooked all day,
which is all I wanted to do.
Can you click right a couple of times and just want to see what
else we're working with here?
They got a lot of stuff going on here.
Oh, yeah.
What that chocolate?
Look at the chocolate.
Is that black raspberry or chocolate?
It's a gummy worm.
It's a green gummy.
It's a dirt.
This is a dirt cake.
Oh, sign me up.
The dirt cake.
Yeah.
This is 500 feet from here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Look at those scopes.
It shook still the intern.
Can we send him for ice cream?
Yeah.
That's insane.
It rocks.
So yeah, this is this is my haunt.
This is where I go.
My haunt.
Pretty pebbles.
Pretty pebbles.
That was not really for me, but peanut butter Oreo Sunday.
Big fan of that.
So yeah, overall, it's a good place.
Sunshine Creamery.
You know, long
long

I remember this actually. Yeah. Yeah.
I ended up getting a T shirt. So they actually sold it to you
or didn't they give it to you?
Give it to me for free. That's sick.
Yeah. Give it to me for free.
And I want a busters one so bad.
My friend pulled up in a busters hoodie and I'm like,
where the fuck did you get that? They don't sell those.
So I went up in school. Yeah.
His wife made it for him on those cricket things.
I want to be gifted a busters hoodie.
It's going to become my mission.
The butcher shop I go to.
If you eat there enough, I'm sure they'd hook you up.
I'm there once a week.
So he says, don't worry, our cows are vegan.
That's funny.
And I really want a shirt and I haven't been able to get one yet.
But I keep asking and I'll keep asking until I get one.
You have milk craft near you.
Yeah, that place is not the same.
Really? Because we I went and got a hot waffle cone and I almost busted.
OK. So for like busted your stomach is you ate so much or.
Yeah, like that one even a joke.
Like he actually almost busted.
I ate it and I was like, oh, like that.
Just think about it is they used to do that thing where they super
chilled this thing right in front of you.
Yeah, I don't think they do that anymore.
No, they just have regular.
That's see, that's.
That's over.
That's overhandling.
You know, it's a gimmick.
But I think what happens is because they do that,
you don't get any water, ice crystals in it and it's just all cream.
So yeah, the creamiest.
Yeah, super good.
But now they don't do.
I like they do have enough a caro, though.
I forgot.
Go fuck out of yourself.
Yeah.
Anyway, callbacks, what's up?
Car stuff.
I got new seatbelts coming in.
I'm excited.
What else is going on?
I tried to wet sand my hard top to get all the poop out of the paint.
Yeah, you just burn right through it.
No, I very quickly realized I didn't know what the fuck I was doing.
Yeah.
And I did 1000 and then 2000, both wet.
And then I buffed it and it was very scratched still.
And I I phoned a friend.
Yeah.
My buddy Andy from Bad Bird and he said, oh, yes.
He said, I probably not have gone 1000.
I try to not do 1000 ever because the scratches are deeper than you started at 1000.
Yeah, that's the way.
Oh, this might be totally wrong, but you're not going to get out of 48 grit
scratch with anything more than a 48 grit paper.
You know, I wasn't trying to get scratches out.
There was like literally hair and do you understand the clear coat?
The detailing is you start with the lightest and then you go heavier and
heavier until it goes away.
So you should have started with compound.
It's not working.
I'm going to start at 5000 grit.
It's not working.
I'm going to now go down to a 4000.
You start high and work low.
You don't start at the low number and work up to.
Yeah, I guess I gravel from the street.
My hard top felt it was less smooth than this.
Okay.
So before or after your damage.
It felt kind of like, did you do a paint depth check?
Like thing.
Well, it's probably it's not metal, so it wouldn't work anyways.
Drift car, you know, yeah.
It is a metal.
The hard tops are metal.
It is metal.
Really could have used a lot.
Oh, I thought a way.
Checker.
So what's the plan?
It looks all right.
It's a drift car.
It looks all right enough.
If I show you a picture of it, you'd be like, that's remarkably better than it was.
Okay.
All right.
Does it look good going sideways?
I you could not tell.
I you couldn't tell that it was there's no poop in the stuff now, even after it did.
But I'll tell you this, it's not.
It wasn't fun.
You were fixing what wasn't broken.
It took me three hours to do the whole hard top.
And I'm like, people do the whole car.
Oh, hold on.
You thousand gridded the whole hard top.
Everything.
I did a thousand then 2000.
So now I like the idea that like you didn't stop at all to check.
I don't think anyone's ever polished anything without a 3000 grit finish.
Well, now I'm going to do it.
Did you research this at all?
Yeah, I did.
I'm going to do 3000.
The video that I watched said do 6000
So I was like, fuck it.
I'll just buff it with the heavy shit.
Hey, don't let him bully you.
When he starts to get all huffy like that, you just throw it right back at him.
I don't I don't want him to mess up like I wanted to come out nice for
you learn stuff.
You mess up.
I know.
Here's the worst case scenario.
I just repaint the car.
Yeah.
See, it's a pretty bad case scenario.
I don't think so.
I still have a whole.
I mean, it's got deep pockets.
I'll just I'm broke as a joke.
I would literally just shoot out the parking lot.
The hard top, hard top.
Yeah.
Posh cares.
Oh, yeah.
Was it on the car the whole time or it's on a couple of jack stands
here, polishing it.
So the car.
Okay.
Yeah.
Like all like the just running down onto the car.
It was.
You know, it makes like that like.
It was the white.
Yes.
Yeah.
And you pick up a car from a body shop after a full paint job and
the ones are just filled with it everywhere.
Every crevice.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was that was part of it.
And then I wiped it all down and but I mean, I was just like,
fuck yeah, I've always wanted to do this.
I bought a brick.
My biggest thing was I was sanding and the brick would like burn
through the paper in the center because it would like wiggle a little bit.
Really?
Were you letting the same paper do the work or we like pushing
hard mad pressure?
No, I think it's cause like, all right, so the paper is on my phone
and I use the phone as a brick.
It would get wet and the paper would stick to the hard top, right?
So you'd move the brick and it would go like this.
Wow.
Yeah.
So it burns through the center because that's where the most contact is on a brick.
So the thing with like compounds is like, let the product do the work.
Yeah.
I I'll show you pictures if you want, like I buffed it five times.
And on the fifth time I was like, that's acceptable.
But if you get real close, just a comp, a rubbing compound, like what did you use?
I used a heavy duty compound.
Okay.
And then I use the wires, 100 something.
I actually don't know a brand it is because it came with my chemical guys buffer.
How old is the compound?
That's another factor.
Yes.
It loses its whatever after so much time, you set the throw your chemicals out
and start with some fresh ones.
It's pretty gritty.
It was like two paced, two paced, real thick.
Uh, okay.
I like that though.
All right.
Nothing's precious.
Like just do it.
Who effing cares?
Yeah.
I'm all about getting after it.
You get after it.
I like fucking.
What about if you use like a polish instead of like a compound?
I did.
I used the compound twice and then I did the polish.
Okay.
Can you get it with a 5000 and see what happened?
I'm probably going to do a three or three K a three or 3500 and see what happens.
At this point, I got nothing to lose except for clear coat.
So he shot to be fair.
He told me he shot the clear very thick.
So I was like, fuck it.
Let a rip.
Like I said, worst case scenario, I end up with a hard top livery.
All right.
Wrap it.
Like you could, you could.
That look cool.
You can lace it.
You could put a giant Confederate.
No, I don't do that.
No, no, we don't want that.
You know what the flag of a loser would be terrible.
A flag of a loser.
You should, uh, like lace it.
Oh, how cool would that be?
Yeah, pretty cool.
And you know, he that's the trend and he can do that.
Yeah, absolutely.
You should have.
I think a lace paint job in the drift world to be,
but you should make something to crochet you like a custom.
Yeah.
So you don't notice until you're real close up and says something real fucked up.
Yeah.
You just got to get even deeper.
It's like you should lace it, but have the lace custom made out of a thread
that's rare and have them be a gypsy.
Spider silk, like, yeah, spider only spy the finest spider.
So yeah, I do want to listen to TDS for sure.
Put a giant shocker sticker on a giant Puerto Rico fly.
How are you?
So funny.
I would have filmed the music video.
You're in.
Dude.
Yeah, because, you know, Puerto Rico is a part of America.
Don't you know a guy, Norway Nils?
That a guy, you know?
Yeah, I know a guy named Norway Nils.
I don't know about this.
Right.
But I've heard you say that name before.
Nils.
I drove down to Jersey a couple of weeks ago to pick up some car parts.
And on the way back, they shut down 84 for something.
There was an accident and I got diverted and I was behind, uh, like a dually with a
a white one.
Yeah, with a plate, like, uh, and our way Nils.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I wonder if that's the guy.
I wonder who else would it be?
Did I have a jet ski in the back?
It could have.
Yeah, I couldn't see that high.
Definitely Nils.
He was picking up his jet ski from Tiger Craft.
I'm almost positive because I think they're down that way.
No, New Jersey or Pence PA.
I don't know.
I'm not a big, uh, water machine enthusiast.
No, either.
How come those PA guys talk like this is a boat show for an episode?
Josh, he was big into the boats for a minute, big into the boats.
Two best days of owning a boat the day by and the day you sell it.
Yeah.
That's the only way you make money on a boat is when you sell it.
I don't think you still make any money.
Yeah.
Usually you lose pretty big.
You lose the whole time you own it.
The only time you make money is when you sell it.
You're still losing.
You still lose money.
I know.
Yeah.
Anyway, what else is going on in the car world for, uh, so I got a call back.
I'll go quick because I know Scott has plenty.
That's okay.
We got plenty of time.
This guy's like full of callbacks.
So I, I had this problem with this storage space for my car.
Right.
It's way too expensive.
And it just kept going up and up and up.
Right.
So I had, I was paying like 150 a month when I got it.
That went up to like one.
This was in 2020 and it went up to like 180.
Yeah.
It still cheap.
Went up to just a little over 200.
It kept going up.
I kept kind of complaining.
They would hold off for a while.
Most recently, like two months ago, it went up to 300 and six dollars
a month for a 306 very specific.
Well, this is the total amount that I pay taxes and all that.
How big is the space?
It's a 10 by 20.
So a car, like one car and stuff, but not too much stuff in there.
Right.
I mean, that's a lot of money.
You can't do any work in there.
You can't do anything.
Is this 10?
No, this is wider than 10.
That's 12.
Yep.
Okay.
Yeah.
It's pretty narrow.
Yeah.
Okay.
It's like open one door situation.
You know what I mean?
So I was kind of bumming like I wanted to get out of there and I just recently
picked up a 82 rabbit pickup, right?
And I don't have a room like I don't live on a lot of property.
I don't have a place to park it.
And guys, there's nothing smarter than buying another project car truck.
And you have nowhere to put it at all.
It's already a car, but I bought it anyways.
I already have a car on a rotisserie in the garage.
So that's off limits.
So I had this thing at my parents' house, which is a bummer because then I'm not
going to use it.
I'm not going to work on it.
So in the end, the solution was the same place I rent my spot from was able
to give me a 30 foot space for like 80 bucks more.
Right.
So now I can fit both cars in there.
Okay.
So 30 foot deep, 10 foot wide, 30 foot by 10 foot.
So I need to know you're down to your cost per usage of 150.
Well, more than that.
Yeah.
But I mean, so it's total, it's like 385.
So yeah, it's like 190 bucks.
Yeah.
You're going deep.
So anyway.
Yeah.
Much better situation, but I got to put a roll pin on the truck to fit both
vehicles in there.
I mean, it's copycat breaks.
I have to do it.
I don't have a choice.
It's that snug.
Yeah.
It's there's like one inch.
Get rid of that shitty American front bumper.
I don't have a way.
Wait a minute.
Yeah.
Hold on.
I'm in there.
Wait, if you put it from bumper on, then what are you going to do?
Then I have to take the rear bumper off and get a roll.
But it's, it's, oh, it's in there now because there's no front bumper.
Right.
I was talking about because it's so low, you can't get it in.
No, no, this is only so much length.
You know, he doesn't have enough length, something you know about.
Yeah.
I, everybody can use a couple of inches.
You don't have like a snare drum and a symbol that I could.
Scott on the right, second one down.
Bankruptcy.
That's the one.
What about this?
I'll call me Tiesto.
Right to jail.
Right to jail.
Do not come.
Oh, hey now.
No.
Oh, no.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Now that one.
So he got this one.
Let's leave it.
No, we already did that one.
Bankruptcy.
Now you're fired.
Top right.
I'm going to come.
No, he's like nine year old.
I want to use two fingers.
I'm 10 by 10, 60 bucks a month.
And now it's up to 195.
These places you're getting screwed, man.
They just they're raping you.
They go crazy.
They just go crazy.
They're like, oh, we're going to double it.
There's nothing you can do.
195.
Yes, true.
I mean, I guess yet, but they know if you're already getting
storage from the window, there's nothing you can do.
Yeah.
I pay a photo of this battery.
You post a photo of this thing.
No, I pay close to 600 with utilities for my one bay.
But it's like a workspace.
My dream garage costs $80 a month.
I have about as much functional space as this shop is wide.
It's tough.
Yeah.
And it's maybe as deep as this.
That's my excuse as to why I don't get anything done.
It's just too tight of space.
And I think it's skinnier than that.
Is that your personal garage?
My house, yeah.
It is well organized people.
Let me tell you what his his shop at his garage at his house.
Well, he's got he's got 21 pounds of shit and a freaking 10 pound bag.
And it is flawless in there.
Not much room to work, though.
Good thing.
Nick Skinny.
What about is the 30 now?
Is there power?
Is your power in your new thing?
OK, so that's the problem is the tip to three situation.
Is it on wheels?
Can we come in and out of the garage?
Oh, yeah.
OK.
Yeah.
Oh, everything is on wheels roll out.
It's fantastically organized.
OK.
Ludacris, this little setup.
So I can get outdoors.
You're unlimited room.
Once I finish building that car and take it off the rotisserie,
we'll be in good shape.
Because I got the whole car is in that garage.
Like including a car and a million pieces.
That's in a tiny little one car garage.
Yeah, right.
The car, when you finish the car, when's the projected
second Monday next week?
2005.
So, you know, any day now, he's round.
You should probably look at building the new garage.
I call mine the forever project, because forever.
I mean, truly, the car has been replaced like I've replaced every part,
including the body.
So it's a different body than I started with.
So you have the same show.
Not even really the same car.
It's crazy.
It's the car of these years.
You know, it's like everything's been replaced.
Mm hmm.
So, yeah.
But anyway, I got to get back to it, because now there's a truck in line
after it.
And was it planned for the truck?
I got plans.
OK.
Yeah, the plans are to.
Yes, take it apart.
Enjoy it.
To enjoy it right now.
It drives.
It runs as a 16 diesel.
It's great.
It's so nice to have a truck, even a little tiny Volkswagen truck.
Just throw stuff in the back.
Not even think about it.
And I get to drive it before you and you.
You drive it.
Remember, I say in the video, it was parked at Josh's and I drove it
forward 12 feet and then I drove it back and I said, I drove your truck more than you.
Yeah.
This guy is like an expert level troll.
Oh, it's it's cool.
Like he needs it.
So I'll that's, you know, he just give him his fix.
Yeah, it's fine.
He needs a dope.
Actually, when I walked in, Josh, he's like, hey, go take Nick's stroke.
And I was like, I can't.
No, I'm not going out of the street.
But then I was like, well, I could just go forward 12 feet in the back.
And I think cranks right over.
Like it's cool.
It was a good situation.
It was, you know, it's a cool deal.
But do you guys have an interesting question?
Because I have a, I don't want to say a purpose built track car.
But I mean, let's be honest, that's kind of what it is.
This is what it feels like, even like it's street.
It. Do you think that if you had a car that you built specifically to go
to the track, you would want another car?
Yes.
And do you think that you would eat?
Well, obviously you would have a track car right now if you thought
that was a cool thing to have.
Well, it's not it's just not a hobby of mine.
I just don't have time and money.
Like, yeah.
Well, I guess I do.
It's just, it doesn't take priority over other things that I, you know,
I think it's cool.
My dad wanted me to like do that, but we never had the money to like get into it
to go. Yeah, it's expensive.
It's funny. You bring that up because people ask me all the time about cars
and that, oh, what do you think about this?
Was it worth or whatever?
Should I get another car?
And I'm like, I am not the person to ask.
Okay. Because I'm not going to talk to you.
It's something right.
I'm not to talk you out of it.
You ask me what something's worth and I say it's worth what everyone
to pay for it. What does that mean?
It's good.
I don't know what to tell you what it's worth.
But the track aspect.
So I bought a while ago, a couple of years now, E 92 M three, and I didn't buy
the best one, but mechanically pretty good one needed to work because I'd fallen
in love with going to the FCP Euro proving grounds, the autocross.
Yeah.
The big track, this didn't do it for me.
Like 140 miles an hour, slam the brakes, turn a little bit, like whatever.
When the FCP Euro proving grounds of limerock, you were just so busy all the time.
Like left, right, upshift, downset, that, like,
you like technical.
Yes.
And it was super fun.
So I got this car because I saw do there in the, uh, I think it's a E 39 M five.
And he was fucking just having the greatest time in it.
And I was like, fuck, I need some real real drive, probably V8 action,
whatever I was like, you know, to whatever I got one started working on it.
It was, I still love the car in the model, but this particular one was
just kicking me in the balls.
But I also had a weird experience that I went to an SEP Euro, I mean, uh,
proving ground track day again.
And like I was with none of my friends, I have a couple of friends who go,
we can never seem to get our schedules to go together.
And I was with a bunch of people that I didn't know and not to be a dick,
but didn't look anyone I wanted to make friends with either.
And it was fucking kind of lame.
And I was like, what the F am I doing?
This isn't even like you pay a lot of money.
Yes.
I'm having fun.
I was in my mark seven again.
Um, but I was just like, I don't want to build like a more track focused car
just for this because it's been literally years and I can't line up with
my friends who go all the time.
The couple of guys I went with the first time, like I can't line it up at all.
And I was like, fuck this, I'm not doing it.
And the E 92 M3 wasn't it.
It was probably a great car for, but that particular one was just fighting me
all the way.
And I just recently sold it and I am hyped because the car hobby budget is
back in business, baby.
It's great.
Great budget again.
You got it to a point where it's like stable enough to
Oh no, I fixed everything on it.
And every time I drove it, something else broke.
So I fixed everything.
I was like, I'm never driving you again.
It's just for sale.
Get the F out of here.
It's funny because I was like looking at those.
We were just talking about it because I'm like, I like drifting.
It's cool.
But now it's to the point where it's like 500 bucks just to go.
And my car is grassroots.
Yeah.
So like there's nothing very grassroots about 500 us each time.
No, it's not.
That's not grass feels bad.
As soon as I'm done, I have immediate buyers or more.
Well, I don't understand how you guys do the tires.
I don't understand that.
I mean, they're pretty.
I mean, they're 60 bucks a piece, 70 bucks a piece.
But you got like I can use.
No, no, because I only have 200 horsepower.
Move my closer to your mouth because when you turn to talk to
shook, Nick, you have to go out a little bit.
I don't really understand.
It's it's a hard to talk to him.
It's less volume.
The quick nap.
I still don't get it.
The tires, the quick map is 120 bucks on tires to 140.
So two sets plus $500.
What's it?
You said the 60 bucks a piece, a pill.
And yeah, yeah.
So $60 for a set.
Dang, where you what country those come in.
They drive on garbage anyway.
I wouldn't be trash.
Yeah.
Not all of them are.
But when you make 200 horsepower, yeah, you don't want like a 200
treadwear in the rear because I don't want to break axles.
So.
Well, I'll go ahead.
So.
So it's like a hundred.
I'll say 140 bucks in tires.
It's almost 200 bucks to get in now if you pay with the tax at
the gate and all that shit.
So if you buy a ticket ahead of time, I think it's 150.
So we'll call that 300.
Then it's a hundred bucks on fuel in my truck.
Okay.
They're back and then a hundred bucks to fill my car ish.
So now we're at four change and then I got to eat.
It's just broken.
It's not like a font.
Well, you're your fucking motor.
You're using a spreadsheet and you're adding it together.
And like same thing with like your project car, like don't keep
a track of how much money is never good.
That's different because I'm not write that shit down.
Just keep it moving.
The difference is like a drift car.
You have to wait to have fun.
And then street car is you just go have fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's a waste of 800 bucks.
Like I don't know.
Maybe not.
Well, I mean, it makes you like I don't care.
I don't think it's even.
I don't think it's any.
You just find something.
We all just find something to put money into.
Yeah, it's all we're doing.
So like you don't get a return on that.
That's like buying an $800 ice cream cone.
It's great.
And then it's on.
Then you're like, oh, now you get the enjoyment out of it.
Yeah, you feel good to get the diary and it's over.
Yeah, you build some skill.
See, that's what he's saying.
It's like, I don't know.
Again, I think he's saying that.
She has a skill.
I'm going to literally fry him.
Yeah.
The I think if you enjoy doing something, the money spent on it,
I don't need a tangible return.
Oh, my God.
Physical return to me.
I can just enjoy it.
You guys are talking about so many things like, okay, the word afford.
We don't have time right now.
I could do an entire podcast about the psychosis of the word afford.
Yeah.
Out of what similar, what different people think the definition of the word
afford is, you know, you know, financials of it.
So like, you know, it's real simple and it's not even using the part where
but like you can afford to do this at times and you do it.
Right.
Unless, you know, I'm so I'm in severe credit card debt.
Like you're putting everything right.
That's a problem.
But you know, I don't use credit cards like George.
I hear you, but like I just said, I'm on my racing career is something
not over, but like I've been taking my daily driver.
And yeah, I have four and $50 from break pads and big break kid on it
because I wasted them the first time I went.
But my one of my good buddy that we kept trying to go to, he bought a Kamin.
He bought a Kamin S and I just make fun of my, oh, nice gamons.
But he fell in love with going into big track and he doesn't want to go to
freaking the proving grounds anymore.
So like I have no one to go with.
Yeah.
It's just if you don't have a bunch of friends to go to, it's like, well,
right for some people, it's a social thing.
Well, that's the thing.
A bunch of the people who are there, like there was a definite click
of people who go to the proving grounds like all the time.
And they must have some group text because there's 24 people and like 12
of the people are all tight and having like the greatest time ever.
It's like, what are they trying to prove?
Like, no, they're all like friends.
Like same thing.
You probably drift with all your boys having a good time.
No.
Okay.
All right.
Nobody likes nobody likes shit, but I don't like it in drifting.
It's more fun when you drive with people and like, I don't trust a lot
of people just to be like, because sometimes when you get sent, they'll
be like, you want to drive with the guy behind you.
And it's like, no, I don't even know who that is.
So I'd rather not have somebody like T bone my shit because I don't
want to never driven with them.
And for anybody who is racing out there and goes enough, there is like a SCCA
SCDA, but you get on this motorsport list and they send you last minute deals
on track days.
So there's a track day and there's three spots open and it's like track days
in four days, there's a major discount if you just come and that was the last
time I went to fill it out.
Right.
And that was the last two times I went and it was super cheap.
But same thing.
Like I think it's like 450 now for limerock proven grounds for half a day.
It is fun.
My whole point that I'm trying to make those, it's like, at what point now for
me, cause with the truck, if I want to go off or that's free.
Yeah.
I bought, we bought mountain bikes.
If I want to go have fun on a mountain bike, that's free.
The motorsports are the only fun.
But are you feeling some sense of obligation to go drive your drift car?
I mean, like, are you feeling guilty that you're not?
Yes and no, because I get that the whole point.
Okay.
I have a shop.
I pay for the shop.
I pay for the electricity and the heat to shop.
Right.
Just store the car.
Right.
But if I'm not driving the car on a regular basis, now I'm just paying for a
shop to have a car that I don't even drive.
There's no, there's no recovering from this.
Like such first world problems as we were talking about that on the way.
But this is money.
My problem right now is right.
Do I just get a car that's watertight, that it's fun to street drive, that I
could just keep my apartment?
Cause I don't need a shop for something that is newer.
Like I don't care or just no car for right now and take all this money that I
make off the drift car, not having the shop, not paying for the shop.
The track days by house start over.
I'm like, lost.
Well, what's the risk?
Well, never being able to, I don't even know it doing it all again would suck.
Like doing everything I already did once.
I mean, what to unbill another car.
Yeah.
Okay.
Like to the degree.
Okay.
But you leaning more towards, I want to get out of drifting and racing and buy
more of a streetable fun car instead of my truck.
Or you like, I just need to be done with all this car stuff for awhile and save
money for house or something else.
What are you thinking?
Like you can make a decision today and change your mind tomorrow.
It doesn't matter.
That's a hundred percent, but I'm somewhere in between the two of those.
How old are you sir?
37.
We could have a very long life financial talk if you wanted off there because
you're right.
You don't own a home, right?
No.
Are you in severe credit card debt?
No, I barely have any debt.
Perfect.
But are you looking to buy a house?
We want one.
Yeah.
It's just what what what thousands of dollars a month is your fiance spend on?
None.
You're well, that's a problem.
Are you on cars?
No, not even cars.
I hobby that she just drops K's on, you know, thousands every month.
I mean, she bought some camera gear recently, but nothing like crazy.
Like I'm not she's not spending what I spend just to go drifting every month.
OK, like we're just I hear you.
It's just like crazy.
We're getting deep right off the rip here.
We're getting deeper.
Because I was going to say how like I'm now this age, I've gone to this point
in my life and I've never more wanted to be like, I wish these three cars
in my garage would just poof be gone and there'd be some money in my bank account.
Which I want it so bad.
That happened.
I know, but no, I want it like poof.
Yeah.
And like not deal with it.
No, I just want no.
I mean, I want to give him away.
But God, do I want just why do I have so many cars?
I need fucking lefts cars.
What am I doing with my life?
I'm this old now.
Yeah.
Give me 10 more years.
I'm going to be this much older.
11 years.
I'm going to be this much older.
What am I doing?
This at the other, but yeah, I do go out to my garage.
Sometimes be like, it's pretty sweet, but that's the thing, right?
It's like, you just convince yourself because you're, what are you really doing?
Like you just go out there and look at them and you're like, oh, dude, I go up
in the attic full of all the parts and I'm like, yeah, I love this shit.
Yeah.
There is a point.
I don't know.
Sometimes I go reverse on that where I look at all the stuff and I'm like,
it's kind of like you were just saying, no, no, same thing.
And that can be very liberating, you know, just to, just to be like clean slate.
So I think, okay.
So here's, I guess maybe I'm not being clear.
Like if I have the hobby and I'm spending the money on the hobby, but I'm getting
a return of, we'll call it fund investment.
Then then I'm like, okay, well, it is what it is.
Like you're, if you buy a car and you want to put coilovers on it.
Yeah, that's expensive, but like now your car is lower.
That feels good.
I've done all the expensive stuff for my car, but now it's just expensive to go
drive it for what I built it to go do.
That's what's fucking annoying.
Cause it's like, but a day, a day drifting, nothing even breaks.
You got a whole bunch of good runs.
You wasted a set of tires, but it was a fucking ball.
Are you amped for the next two weeks?
So you fucking just, oh yeah, I'm excited.
I'm like, I can't wait to see if anybody got a video.
Sounds like you need to go then.
You want to see how fast I was driving?
Yeah.
And it's fun.
But then like after I get home and then I'm like, well, I just spent like 500 bucks
and I can't, I can't justify doing.
No, I hear you.
I get it.
Like that's totally legit.
It's like no matter how good it feels, there is a point at which you go like fuck.
Yeah.
But, and that's in this, I haven't even turbo the car yet.
So once I turbo the car to make it more fun, that sounds inexpensive.
I already have everything.
It's just once you do it, now I'm going to have everything.
It's still going to cost you 10 of my, it's the same guy.
But like, I got everything for my swap.
How much you spend so far?
Cool.
Double it.
Cause that's going to cost to have it set in the end.
Now that being said, like a home is not a bad goal.
Like that's what I'm saying.
Like at what point do I just say, all right, fuck.
Well, you might need to take a pause from it.
You buy a house, maybe work in your house.
You get right side up in your house and then be like, now I have some
fun money again and I'm going to go back racing or maybe you're like, I don't
really miss drifting that much at all.
Let me tell you about my lawn.
It is so fun.
Or you get halfway to saving up for down payment on a house and you're like,
I can't stand this.
I need to go drive and, you know, getting up on the second day.
Yeah, I think what get into gardening.
It's really fun.
We cooking.
I know somebody who loves to cook now.
It's just all about it.
Gardening.
I don't know who I just think if I'm going to take a break from, oh, I did not
now, I've always liked to.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
This is not a new thing.
Well, cooking, this guy sends his pictures, all the meat he's always
dabbling with.
Uh, plus it has been years, but I'm just saying.
I think it's my garden right now too.
I do like, I do like that.
Yeah.
Okay.
Like a random Sunday, you'll send a piece of meat.
Then Josh was like, oh, I'm cooking meat.
And then I'm like, dude, I got meat in the, what's happened a couple of times.
You guys have meat meats.
Yeah.
Remote meat meats.
I think we talked about it before, but it staggered last year.
It was like Friday.
Okay.
We hung out, blah, blah, blah.
Okay.
We're going to hear all day tomorrow, all day Saturday.
All right.
So bring whatever you want to grill.
We all showed up when Italian sausage, all four of us, none of us spoke about it.
We all showed up at the same thing.
You know why?
Cause sausage is the best.
It's like a, it's, it's like voodoo rangers.
It's not the best tasting.
Fucking there's a good clue.
We are talking about there's a good amount of alcohol content in it.
And there's a good amount of enjoyment from it.
So it's like a trifecta.
We can't go down the food road right now.
So I could talk for the rest of the night.
Sausage is cheap.
It's delicious.
And it's easy.
It's not the best meat.
It's not the worst meat.
It's not the most expensive.
It's not the cheapest.
I sound like you had some soul searching to do.
That's kind of where I'm at.
Search some holes.
But it's like, but my main thing was like, if I'm going to take a break,
I don't need a shop.
If I don't need a shop, then I don't need the shop is a huge cost.
And if you financially, it is a bad investment to just have a car sit
because I could do it.
You're exactly at most like you said, you have to be working on the car
and said shop.
There are times where I'm not there for a week.
You should be taking that money and putting it aside, make it down payment
on a house that has a garage shop problem solved.
Exactly.
You know, that's where I'm at.
So I'm like, do I just buy one of those things?
If I can find one for like under 200 bucks.
That's tricky because they all talk to each other.
And they're like, yeah.
Well, that's yeah, but an off market, somebody else's garage
in their backyard type situation.
That's what you want to find.
Yeah.
See, same.
Yeah.
It's a field.
It's same.
I'm going to get all the stuff filled with thought of his garage.
But biggest thing is like, do I need the car?
If I sell it, am I going to build another one?
Would I build another drift car?
I don't know.
But here's the thing.
So you could sell it and then you get a house eventually and you get a
garage and then you have what you need to do that.
Yeah, that's what I do it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That's what I said.
If you're missing it, you do it again.
If you're not into it.
Hey, same mentality is hitting the thing with thousand grit sandpaper right away.
It's not that precious.
Like it's okay.
You got so much value out of it already.
Yeah.
And you already did it.
Like you did the thing.
You built the car.
Absolutely.
It's there.
It's not going to like be any more built.
You've already achieved that.
So I think, you know, it's okay to be like, all right, next.
You know, I don't know.
That's my opinion, but.
Do you have 401k where you work?
Yeah.
Are you maximizing it?
No, no, no.
Are you maximizing it?
Does your employer match?
They just put money in.
I don't have to put anything in it, but yeah.
So they give you money, but you, so you're getting the max from them.
There's nothing you could do to get more from them.
Yeah.
The max is you do nothing or you just put in what they put in or you could put
it more.
They just always put in the same.
Okay.
That's good.
That's good.
You know, you can borrow again, not you can borrow again.
So you can just take from it for a first time home purchase.
Unpenalized.
I didn't tax deduction.
Know that.
Yep.
That might actually how old are you in?
Sorry.
My, you might've just told me 30.
37.
37.
36.
But keep in mind, if you do that, you have to work till you're 93.
No, you'd have to put more money in once, whatever, but it's just an option.
You don't want to like wipe it out, but I mean, dude, we're all going to die.
I'm probably going to work till I die anyway.
We're here for a good time.
Not a long time.
I'll just go be the guy.
It's get busy living.
Walmart.
Busy dying.
Check you.
Make sure you're not stealing nothing.
I think about that.
I think about picking up one of those jobs.
I want to be the, I want to work at Costco.
I don't know.
I want to be the intake person at Costco.
Employee 5% discount.
Whatever it takes.
Just kind of cost.
That sounds very good.
Two 10, two 20, whatever it takes.
Free hot dogs.
Anyway, you think they get the place for you?
As a hot dog kind of story, I just want to say the Costco hot dogs are not that good.
They taste like they taste like a dollar.
No, they're not as cheap.
I think it's a dollar 98 with a soda.
It's a pretty good deal.
Sheets are better than Costco, my opinion.
I'd rather have twice as many.
You probably have rather a potential diarrhea than.
I'm just saying it.
There's something like, I think the Costco's gonna have like a big beef
dog or whatever, bro.
Like, doesn't taste that good.
So with you, Scott?
Oh, you know, this is the year of Scott.
I've been telling people I'm unemployed.
I'm no longer doing my business.
Okay.
I got freed from it about mid February.
I'm involved at maybe 23 percent.
The breaker of chains.
Correct.
And, you know, I'm just doing what eves.
That's good, man.
What's what is what eves?
Got to take a nice long trip to the mountains of the Southern Appalachians.
Okay.
Ending in Helen, Georgia.
I met fellow podcast here, here, right in here.
Now down there and a bunch of other people, like a lot of other people,
that's wonderful, like hundreds of other people.
Nick, so nice to remind me in the nice way possible.
And it goes, Scott, you know, a lot of people.
Yeah.
And it was fun.
My social battery was completely wasted by the end of that week.
I'd be begging for that drive home at that point.
My, my, my, I was so hyped off of the trip.
The driving home was, this isn't going to be so bad, but what's your recharge rate?
But if I, if I have been on our socialization, I need like two hours to
like recharge that one.
Oh, I don't even know.
But at the end of the week, that was pretty, yeah, it was a long time.
Yeah.
No hours.
We're more days.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Days of recharge for sure.
I don't, for sure.
I don't think I could quantify here.
You know, I tend to like just walk away every couple hours or every hour or once
in a while in any social situation.
Like I'll, I just will just kind of get up and.
Yeah.
I had come.
I have just got this guy.
I have complete FOMO that I'm not going to talk to someone or someone's going to
see me and then I didn't talk to them and they're going to be like, Oh, what the
fuck dude, you couldn't say hi.
Oh my God.
That weighs so heavy on me.
I know it's crazy.
Does it actually?
Yeah, it does.
Like I haven't met.
I try and tell myself like, dude, whatever, like my friends from Ohio came to
Helen and like I barely saw them and like I felt so bad and like, what the hell is
wrong with you?
Who cares?
Are you having fun?
I was like, yeah, it's like, this is the best ever.
And they're like, yeah, we'll see you whenever.
I was, yeah.
I just had a thought that maybe that's why people don't like me because I don't
care.
If you, if you connect, you connect, if not, like I'm not going to go looking for,
especially now.
Well, one of the things that again, I'm just telling too much here.
I tried to focus on the people I never see.
Like I knew my friends from Ohio, I was going to see them in another month and
a half, two months.
I was like, okay.
So I try and focus on the people I never see.
Like I stayed, we called the Becker household.
Shout out, Nick Becker, my boy.
I'm wearing your shirt.
Thanks for the shirt.
It looks very nice.
So, you know, all those people, like I never hung out with them all week.
He's like, dude, where you at?
Do we never get to hang out?
I'm like, dude, I'm going to see you multiple times this year.
There's dozens of other people.
Like these are the only time I'm seeing them this year.
So he understands that's fair to prioritize.
He's not as dumb as Nick looks.
I didn't even know his name was Nick.
I just knew my Becker.
Yep.
The junk man.
Good guy.
Becker transport.
Great guy.
What's the saying in the back?
Something like that.
Good enough mediocre is good enough.
When it's good enough.
Yep.
That is a fucking hell of a saying.
All right.
So trip down to Helen, some stuff in the Southern Ambulance.
Where else you been?
What else have you been?
I just got back from Chicago or the Midwest.
That's the start of the conversation on Monday.
I drove out to Chicago to see some friends to hopefully link up with
somebody to see their car collection in the shop, which I did.
And then the other reason that started the whole planning of the trip was I
went to the SEMA of Lego, which is in Chicago and it was wild.
That's really cool.
Do you look at people's Lego builds?
So there's a giant convention center is all custom Lego builds, plus vendors
selling Lego, everything and anything.
Also sick.
Yes.
I mean, the creativity is through the roof.
It's like, imagine you're like just learning to work on cars and you
can like change brake pads and oil.
And then you go to SEMA and you see all these custom car builds and you're
like, I could never do this.
And that's like how I felt because he just brought a Lego set.
You're like, fuck.
All I see is people are just so freaking creative and all I'm like, I am so not
creative.
I am not creative 1% compared to these people.
Good Lord.
But, uh, you know, he's, he's an online persona.
Maybe you follow him.
Maybe not.
I think it's fish.
2456 Richard Fisher.
Oh, fish.
Yeah.
Fish.
Um, I told him a car a while ago.
Uh, I'm pretty sure he was happy with the purchase.
We chat here and there and even even told me like, yo, if you're in Chicago,
hit me up.
And I literally was like, Hey dude, I'm coming to Chicago.
I got like basically these free, free three days, you know, I can whatever
I'm dying to see your shop or whatever.
And I get messages a week ahead of time.
Yeah, man.
I'm actually going to brown all three days.
It's figured out that I got out there, like a send my message on Instagram.
And like he calls me right away.
Like old school call.
I ended up talking in the phone for like 45 minutes.
It just seems like that kind of dude, he's, I was going to get to that.
But like, you know, so then it was like, are you morning person?
Night person said, dude, it's whatever.
I'm a grown ass.
What?
Like you're a busy guy.
Like I know, you know, you have a lot of dealerships to run this and that.
So, you know, listen to that.
And then like he texts me back like two hours later, he's like, oh, can you do
tomorrow?
And I was like, yeah, of course I can do tomorrow morning.
And he was so good.
He gave me like over four hours.
Oh boy.
What'd you do?
Nick just broke the mic on breaking the fucking place.
Good grief.
Okay.
Um, so you gave me like over four hours in a shop, just chopping it up, looking
at his dad's side, looking at his just like absolutely fantastic visit.
Great ass dude.
Talk lots of life stuff, tons of business stuff.
I don't know.
I think some people like think like it's just his mom, his money, this and
that, or his dad is my, my man works.
My man, I don't know.
His family owned some dealerships.
And he runs one a hundred percent and he has to go help on all the other family
dealerships too.
Cause he is like the head, you know, the head guy.
That's how what did you sell him?
If you can, I sold him my 79 rabbit.
Got you.
I got it with 13,000 miles on it.
I sold it to him with 17,000 original miles.
Nice.
I think it was like, does he still have it?
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's, you know who this guy is.
I think we looked at it.
Is this the guy that has all the white cars?
Yeah.
He has the white car.
I don't know why I know that, but yeah, we remember we looked at it.
We were like, he has three Ben pack triple stackers and it was like,
think it was, it was in like the middle 11 up.
He has an, he has a all white rally golf that I really wanted to check out that
I got to check out.
So, so many great cars like, and he's a big drift guy too.
Like that's where he got to start.
If you watched the Larry Chen video on him, whatever.
And then the funny thing is if you watch Larry Chen, it opens with him doing
a burnout and a mark for white mark for super target.
That car is sick.
It is so nicely done.
Like super, not a shave bay, but an extremely clean bay, all white, all black,
refresh interior, the vault T 37s, like dark, whatever, big breaks.
And the thing was just, I love white cars too.
Like that's a whole thing with me.
And that thing was, I even told him, I was like, yeah, do you
got some like really sick cars here?
This guy is so much better than all.
I'd love it.
But he has like his, his like first car ever, you know, he's younger than me.
It was a mark five GTI use and he has it still.
And it's like, you know, he was like, oh, I was young and I modded all stupidly,
but I still got it and I love it.
That's cool.
So that was great.
Oh, let's see.
I don't know.
Tried some food places out there.
Culver's anybody out in the Midwest place called Culver's delicious.
He gave some good recommendations.
He also told me that a Chicago or whatever, bacon, I can choose
sandwiches, not a thing out there.
Really?
Cause I was like, dude, where's the deli spot?
I need a bang and bacon.
And Jesus like, not a thing.
I couldn't get a, what, yeah, where are you?
He's like, no, like nobody has.
What do they do?
I don't know.
It's not like, I guess you could probably go to a restaurant or a delt or a
diner or something, but like, can I have some bacon, some eggs and a side of
toast and you make your own?
Yeah.
Well, so I was staying in a hotel and like, I started doing that at the, the
free bar I was making sandwiches, but you know, I wanted to get a bang and
ass sandwich, but because bacon, I could choose my thing.
So, so he, Scott has like, there's like four or five things that Scott typically
eats pizza.
This is not like, I'm not criticizing at all.
I've said it before I say it again.
He was Scott.
I eat like an eight year old.
Yeah.
I'm going to guess right now pizza, bacon, egg and cheese.
And then you have one other thing.
I would guess his chicken nuggets.
Hot dogs, hamburgers.
Yeah.
Hot dogs and burgers.
Yeah.
But that's the thing.
Like it.
For me, it's not a problem because I love to eat those things too.
So if we go to eat and I know you're down with it, I eat like a child, like who
doesn't like kid food.
Yeah.
There you go.
So delicious.
The funny thing about chicken tendies and stuff like I'm kind of new to
chicken tendies and stuff swear to God, like it wasn't even a thing.
Oh, the chicken case.
Five years ago.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We were so did we, how much did you talk about Helen?
Are you getting back to that?
No, yeah, we could, but barely anything.
But I was talking about my Chicago trip.
That was it.
Yeah.
And then in the way back, I can't recommend it to everyone
enough.
If you're ever in Dayton, Ohio, United States National Air Force Museum.
It's like four gigantic hangers and even like a gigantic missile silo.
Just no fake stuff.
All real stuff.
I don't know how they fit this many planes and equipment and
helicopters in these rooms and it's wild and then it's free.
That was the best part.
It was free.
Fuck.
I don't know.
Hey man, we spent a lot of money in the military here in the US.
So apparently the museum is free.
It was fantastic.
It's your tax dollars.
Hard at work.
Yeah.
It's fantastic.
I can't recommend it enough for shizzle.
And we drive just the daily.
Yep.
I drove out there into Chaitown.
It was actually the Lego thing was like to the west of Chicago.
Actually even one day I drove north to Wisconsin to go to a Lego place.
And then I drove back to Chicago.
I don't know.
But the car aspect fish, if anybody had something bad to say about fish, I would
literally ask my boy, why, why are you have something bad?
Like, who knows?
But you know, like people will hate that guy the way it comes off online, whatever.
Oh, I love it.
Nothing I tune into more than we just like, I know he's fantastic.
But you know, there's people facing the camera.
He just was like walking around.
I'm like, I got much it.
I asked him that too.
And he's like, I feed off the haters.
I was like, you go boy, because they I don't have enough people that bothers me.
I didn't know anyone.
Wasn't a fan of them.
Oh, well, yeah, there's always haters, dude.
If you got a lot of followers, you heard the story about like going to reap,
like they went to like get a car back as someone like burned a lot of deal.
And he took that was that was the greatest story ever.
And he's like, oh, I got more.
And I'm like, let's go.
The world is clamoring for these stories.
It was shook.
I don't know if you know, you missed it, but he was he was like,
for the guy who's my car.
And he's like, oh, I like your watch.
He's like, this is mine now.
And he gave it to, you know, his guy who was with him, who's small
potato cars.
Correct.
Yeah.
So I wish people who didn't like me would talk shit to me.
That would make my life interesting.
Well, it's just the keyboard warriors.
Is there something real?
I feel like what's up, dude?
You're my body.
I'm going to keyboard warrior.
I wish somebody would keep or me.
Found him to be a super interesting guy.
Super like, yeah.
Yeah, I was super excited.
He got a E.G. Hatch.
Is it white?
He's like, yeah, of course it is.
Not yet.
I've always wanted one of these things.
So look at you.
Look at you go.
You know, he, yeah, he had some, uh, was like a top secret
Supra.
He explained what a top secret was.
I didn't know what that is or whatever.
Yeah.
He has Japan days.
He has R34.
And he's just like, meh, super special.
All the stuff that he's like, meh.
He has a risk, right?
If you get too many cars, they stop being special.
Well, you did that to me.
I feel that way about me on cars.
Some people like, oh, and I was like, what?
That thing's a piece of shit.
But now one of the cars we talked about not stop.
He has a 3 18 Ti, which is like the little E 36 with the
back cut off and has a full, uh, E 46 swap.
What is that?
Uh, yeah.
And he's like, and it's, it's quite clean, but he says like
the pain, old paint is almost up.
I was like, I didn't know this was kind of not in a perfectly
lit spot.
And he was just like, just you just see, he was loving it so
much.
It's like his favorite cars.
Like it's absolutely, it mechanically is fantastic, but it
doesn't look too nice that I can't enjoy the absolute living
shit out of it.
And I was like, dude, that is my entire like car mantra.
Now, like I have no desire to for like a fully polished car or
like, yeah, polish engine bay.
I'm over it.
You said something that I just keep thinking about it.
Participation over perfection.
Yeah.
Fuck it.
Every fucking letter rip.
Every fucking time I'm doing something.
Yep.
I think just get out there.
For everybody listening.
And you need to tell your friends that stuck with one person.
Oh, I get, dude, I posted a couple of times on some reels and
I get a ton of engagement to say, you know, people like all
the time, I'm like, hell yeah, just fucking.
I don't care if your car's not perfect.
Get out there.
Shout out Andy Dixon.
He will tell you if your car is not perfect.
I will.
No, not so much anymore.
I used to be that guy.
That's why I went into my heart.
People asked my pain still and I just go, they're like, oh,
let me do the like it.
I was like, no, I just don't want to go into this.
I feel like so not unlike some more mature.
I'm too cheap.
Arrow wipers on your piece of shit.
Well, you're right.
That's one thing for sure.
And it's still pissing me off.
Still.
But now I get people sending me pictures of like, Scott, I
got regular wipers and they work fantastic in this rainstorm.
I was like, what?
You think that wipers didn't work in the 90s is all the way
through the mid twos?
But anyways, I feel like I've been rambling a lot.
Somebody else talk.
There was just, there was something you were saying and then you
stopped and I wanted you to continue about it.
Helen.
Now it's gone.
No, it wasn't Helen, but anyway, whatever.
So anyway, you down there, you met a bunch of people in Helen.
Let's let's hear it.
Let's hear about Helen.
Helen is fantastic.
Uh, what's it?
What is it?
What is it actually called?
So first of all, like, I don't, I don't even know what it's called anymore.
Oh, Alpine Alpine bag fair.
Correct.
Alpine bag fair.
Okay.
So here's the thing.
Helen, apart from the fact that this is get together with, I mean, this
was my first time going down there and, oh yeah, I forgot about that.
Like I got it, you know, I could say plenty.
I won't, I wrote some stuff about it.
But the other thing is besides the cars, it's such like a beautiful spot
because we don't have that here.
Right.
Like those mountains, the, the, uh, the Blue Ridge Mountains, like when you get
down there, it's just like Southern Appalachian.
Holy shit.
I would argue there's nothing.
Southern Appalachian.
Nothing beautiful on Rhode Island at all.
That might be true.
But plenty of coastline.
You know, that being said, you get down there and, and Helen's like right
on this like really lazy spot of the Chattahoochee.
And it's just, this is what I was talking about before when I said like a
lot of times I'll just like walk away from a group of people for a minute.
That river kept like sort of hypnotizing me.
We just standing there, you know, looking at cars, talking to people, and
then you just turn around and there's like this shady little river just
trickling behind you and a gorgeous roar.
Just roaring brook.
It just pulled me in and it was like, it's just such a nice spot.
It's all shady and perfect.
It's great.
Definitely worth being there again for the environment.
Like it's not a car show.
It's, it's just a town.
I applaud his commitment to not looking and it's why it will happen.
I put a photo up on the screen.
I saw it.
Okay.
Just mowed it right through.
What was it?
Oh, nothing.
Anyway, it was of a, um,
it was a flowing river.
Two big things.
What do you, what do you call them?
Um, yeah, I can't really have a name, right?
Have a name.
Yeah.
It was two rivers.
Yeah.
Uh, yeah, I, it's been a long time since I've been in the town.
It was really cool.
It's like charming.
It's like quaint.
You're like, I didn't want, you know, what's this little place doing?
And then like, it's not what you expect out of Georgia, which is cool.
The toolbox.
I just remember the toolbox.
Oh, you could tell it.
I mean, so here's the thing.
What I had, what I, what I want to say before he gets into this is that I
know that I'm legitimately friends with Scott now and he really cares
because my actions embarrass him.
This is Nick's first time there.
Yep.
I have the thing of like, Nick, you know who this guy is, whatever.
And he's like, and Nick was like, no, maybe, oh, it's at this guy, whatever.
So Nick doesn't know everybody.
So then I'm like, and having Nick around with everybody, like, you know,
there's lots of hangs along this road.
Everybody's hanging out, you know, and Nick is hanging out.
And I forget sometimes this is the first time, but like, you know, he
integrates with the crew instantaneously.
Um, and we're hanging out whatnot.
But I was just, yeah.
So I tell the whole story.
Oh, to be fair, I, like, I know Connor.
So that wasn't like, uh, introduction to him.
Yeah.
Cause I don't, yeah.
I don't exactly know what came about.
Um, but talking about Nick here, something that was, uh, said a couple of times,
but some of the, one of our housemates was like, everybody's got a Tism.
It's just everybody has a Tism.
So it was like the word of the week was like, you know, what's your Tism?
Like we all have Tisms.
So we're all chilling.
Mark, two Mayday condos hanging out.
All my Mark shout out of all the Mark two Mayday boys.
And then like Nick, I see him going to show Connor the Irishman, shout out Connor.
Max.
Richie started with the hat.
Is that what the hat?
Cause he asked about it because he'd seen it before and he was telling Lee about
it and he was telling them all about it.
So I took the hat out and we're showing them the hat.
Okay.
But then you're like, Hey, check out my toolkit.
Okay.
What's the hat?
I have a hat, a five panel hat or that's made out of the material
that I used for the interior of my car.
So it's like this real stupid fucking matching hat.
My buddy made it.
Yeah.
That's cool.
Yeah.
So it's like, it's just all the, it's a ridiculous looking hat.
Like it's the dumbest looking hat, but I think it's so comfortable.
It's the most comfortable hat ever.
Listen, man, I think that's cool.
Yeah.
You should wear that.
Oh, it is super cool.
It stays parked in the car and he asked about it because he had seen it before.
And it's cool.
So then, so then Nick.
So then I don't know when I'm strolling over there.
Oh, I see it's like Nick has a trunk over it and like some people are coming around
and Nick was like, Oh yeah, this is my toolkit.
Okay.
So Nick pulls out his 1986 Samsonite briefcase.
Same make same year as the car.
You make sure to tell everybody that's 1986 same year as the car.
And everybody just hanging around and the Nick has it super organized.
He opens it up, you know, like a briefcase.
Boom.
Super jam packed, but super foam organizers, every tool in its place.
Everything is perfect.
This and that.
And there's like, it doesn't, you know, I'm kind of like, this is a bit over the top
here, like, but everyone is like interested, like looking or whatever.
But even I'm like, it's kind of funny and silly.
Like we're all silly.
I'm thinking about the word Tism.
Like it's way that Nick is so, so hyped about the organization of his 1986
same year's car, Samsonite briefcase, everything.
And the tools all like, Perry correct?
No, they're not actually.
I don't think there is a, there's probably some old stuff from the car in there.
So you have like new tools in a.
Cause while it's in the trunk, it's like the tools I need.
But you know, I got to get a toolbox.
So I'm going to make it a briefcase.
I'm going to make it the same year as my car thing.
Yeah.
Why not?
So everybody's looking whatnot.
And then he goes and he closes it up and he rips the handle, pulls it up and it
fucking just explodes.
It was not latched and everything organized just explodes in the five foot radius.
Okay.
It didn't fall out.
Nick ripped upward.
Nick, you didn't like just lift it slowly.
You jacked it up off the ground like a mock Jesus.
And everything went flying everywhere.
Okay.
Everyone else I think was embarrassed.
It's kind of, I thought it was the funniest thing ever.
I was over laughing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Scott laughed.
So Scott was laughing to a degree where you're like, there might be something
wrong. I was laughing like, I know this dude more than everybody else.
So, and I just, it was the funniest thing ever.
So then my friend Danny from Mark, too many.
Oh my God, I forgot.
So he's a big tool guy.
Mr. Snap-on.
He has a full snap on set at his house.
He's a professional truck mechanic.
He has a full snap on stuff at work.
You know, keep in mind it's getting dark out.
It's dark.
No, it's dark right now.
Danny bust out some snap on light like right out of his pocket and boom, it's
fucking daylight.
Okay.
He's holding it up.
It was the fucking.
He's holding it up like above his head.
It's lighting like 12 square meters.
Like you see the way that this reflects off my head.
Like everybody can see that the way that that this was like, you couldn't look at me.
Like it was, I could, I was blind and everybody around.
Okay.
So this is where it gets even more detail.
Nick is, he's like appalled, whatever.
He's on the ground.
He's scrambling.
He's getting everything back in the thing.
Now I know Nick enough that.
He's not putting it back organized enough.
Okay.
He's already, I can count.
I can do a 30 second countdown of this meltdown coming.
Okay.
So he gets everything in there and he gets it like closed.
And of course he picks it up like sideways, holding it together and like places it in
his trunk.
Okay.
Then I counted down.
It was like 321
He takes it out of the trunk.
He walks over in front of the car out of the way of everyone.
I was a little stoop.
He opens it up and he lays it all out and he's sitting there like a little kid and
he's putting each thing back in there to organize the tool.
And I was like, I fucking do it.
I respect that, but I would have just jammed it in there and shot it.
But right.
But that's when Nick, that's why I did the count that I go, he can't fucking deal
with that right now.
He's no, he can't sleep.
There's no way it's staying unorganized in his truck.
And it was literally like, he put it down in the trunk.
I'm not sure if he got fully standing back up before he went back in the trunk
to pull it out to do it.
No, no.
There's nothing I could say.
I might not.
You know, 100% correct.
I know what it's your tism.
To the one because the next time you opened it when you actually needed it,
it was fucked up.
You'd have been.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like I'd love an inconsolable level of mad.
Yeah.
But isn't it funny that toolbox is only explode like that when either a everyone's
around or be your done working on something for the night?
Yeah.
There was there was a circle of people.
I mean, it was like I was putting on a show.
That it was.
And it was was.
I think that I was that way.
I yelled first time, Nick, stop embarrassing me.
Yeah, because I told you that I knew that you cared because you were.
You were embarrassed by my like your actions.
Because again, like knows a lot of these people,
but I think it's the first time there's like some real late night hangs all night.
Hangs type deal. So this is my buddy Nick.
And then I like embarrassed the shit out of him.
It reflects poorly on him.
And I could tell he's like, oh, fuck.
Don't embarrass me.
There he goes again, screwing his shit.
But like, I thought it was funny because he's not joking.
There was like maybe 20 people.
Like, yeah, yeah.
You would think he just popped the hood on like a one JZ smooth bay
thousand horsepower car, but no, it's my 1986 same year's car.
Samsonite toolkit with foam organizers and everything in there.
And boom, the problem was it all happened so fast.
It did. Because when I pulled the toolbox out,
this story has taken ten times
amount of time. This whole thing went down because just I have to describe it
because now I'm glad you put me there.
It was like I'm reading a beautiful book.
But the whole as soon as he started putting the things back in like in the
bears, because he also didn't like slowly pack it up.
He's like, oh, he's just gathering all the tools and he's like, yeah.
And the light honestly made it so much worse because it got silent.
It was fucking silent for like, like, so like I start packing it up and I'm like,
OK, well, it shows over folks and like everybody.
So you just staring and then the sunlight and it was just like as he's packing.
All I can think is that's not organized for Nick.
That's not organized enough.
What's what's about something's going to happen right now?
Because it's not organized.
And I was like, 32 there he goes.
He's going to organize it around the corner on the stoop.
You know, it's interesting as you did the same
kind of little show and tell for me and my buddy, Chris. Oh, yeah.
Fieldworks of the toolkit of the toolkit.
You got a toolkit tour. I got a tool. Oh my God.
Because I knew the tour.
I knew the toolkit and I brought my buddy, Chris, over to show him
the license plate mechanism.
Oh, that's fantastic.
And then all you should have shown him that all the different license plates
you didn't drop it and we got into the toolbox tour as well.
So I forgot in New Jersey.
Yeah, I forgot that I did that because I've I've done that same little show
probably a hundred times.
I I think we would have got to it to a to a license plate tour
if the toolbox didn't explode ten feet in the air and 12 foot radius.
That's what it was.
A good lesson. Like, you know how, you know, you look back on some things
you did where you were a little too excited, nerdy and you go,
oh, that was embarrassing and stupid when you have a situation like that
where you get taught a lesson like I don't think too enthusiastic because
I don't think it was embarrassing or stupid.
I think everyone there fell in love with you more than they ever knew you before
because it was a perfect total moment and everyone just like Nick is awesome.
It's like that's 100 percent a skip from the office.
And look how organized it is.
It's the feeling. It's the fucking guys.
Again, though, a picture, just a briefcase on the ground
and it's laying there and it's closed and you pick up the handle.
And I mean, Nick, why did you clean jerk it like that?
Because the tools went so far.
You know, I don't know.
Like I'm surprised to get like an eye poked out by a like there's like a mid
there's like a mid hinge.
Explain the engineering of your 1986.
Same year.
It's a briefcase, right?
But the top half of the briefcase is just as big as the bottom half.
So if I only fill the bottom, it's only half full.
So there's a like a there's like a foam organising panel in the middle
with the foam adhered to it and the foam has the cutouts for the tools.
So now the briefcase is totally full, right?
Because in the bottom section, I have the motor oil and all the other shit.
But that mechanism, like the way that that thing is hinged,
the result is that when it flung open, it like had more momentum.
Yeah, it's a trebuchet.
Literally.
Don't I got it? Don't worry about it.
Yeah. My question is, were you missing anything?
No, no. That's.
Oh, no, no.
He wouldn't have. He would have never left.
He'd be still there.
He'd still be in hell and looking for the tool.
To be fair, that's why the foam is cut out.
Yeah. Because you can see right away.
Yeah. You know.
So there that's so fun.
Dude, I did the.
It was another moment.
I was like, I love this guy.
I pulled like a 12 hour shift in my garage, working on my car one night.
And it was my buddy's toolbox.
Yeah. And I put everything back in there just so I wouldn't lose it.
And I picked it up and you do absolutely pick toolboxes up with a.
Yeah, because it's clean.
Jerk. It's got some weight.
That's going to be heavy.
You just want to get up to the waist.
I also want to look strong.
Not. Yeah.
I can't come off weak in this moment right now.
I just impressed 10 people with my 1986.
I put a little plug in my club tonight.
But yeah, I fucking yanked this thing and it went all over the garage.
So highlights.
And we were alone.
Giant one.
I am.
So we're showing off your toolbox.
That it was a great moment.
But there were plenty of other amazing moments like our buddy busted an axle.
John stairs had the actual.
Oh yeah. This was just an amazing just Volkswagen group story.
Jumping, Nick, whatever.
Professional mechanic.
Okay. He has a 1.4 swapped right hand drive.
Mark two.
Okay.
One of the first ones.
Fantastic.
Whatever he's a, he does.
He's Matt from your craft.
An amazing mechanic, swapper intelligence of resource.
He's a resource.
He's like a huge, whatever master, whatever.
And he's put putting around town and boom, blows an axle.
So he goes in this parking lot at the end of the strip, you know, and it's just like go a team.
All right.
Like John stairs, like, dude, I got axles.
We got this, whatever.
I brought both axles.
I'll meet you over there.
Um, oh, what, who has what tools?
Oh, dude, I have a half a gym pack.
We're going to blast this thing off.
Oh, we need 30 millimeter soccer for the accident.
Let me check.
Oh, I got that one.
Oh, we need grease.
Two other people jumping a car, running, going to get to find grease for the axle.
Somebody else is like, I ordered pizza.
Next thing you know, we got a full blown GTG chair set up in a parking lot, watching
professional mechanic, the most mechanically gifted person, everyone there basically, you
know, work on his car.
And I think Matt was actually a little freaked out of it because everyone was watching
working his car, but I just made sure to keep telling him like, you know, Matt, this is
the best.
This is like, but like the best scenario.
Chris was helping him too.
Like it was such a cool moment.
They just did it.
It wasn't even, you know, we did, there was no stress about it.
There was no stress.
It was mad.
I had the most stress because he was like, oh, everyone's watching me.
Like, dude, we're your best friends.
Like, yeah, great time.
If anything, that made it more fun.
And my other friend there, while it was there, called to order pizza and he ordered
like three pizzas and he called some random place in Ivoryton, Connecticut, which I
even know where it is.
And he ordered three pizzas from there and then he went to the pizza place, which was
the same name in town.
And they're like, I don't know, but they were like, we don't have any order for you.
And then he looked it up and he's like, oh, snap.
In Iverington.
So then that's pizza pub.
Okay.
He paid them.
He nicely paid the people and said game Connecticut and said, give it to your
staff or whoever.
And then he ordered again at the pizza place in town.
Yeah, it was awesome.
It was awesome.
The sun was going down.
Somehow the whole rest of the crew showed up.
They all pulled in the hot in part to turn it full blown GTG chairs out.
Have a good time.
Add to us at staggered with Josh's car.
I don't remember we were fixing, but we all rallied.
It made it good.
It was like rotors or.
Hacks or something like that.
Like yeah, arms steering related steering related.
Yeah.
And then Corey was like, what do you need?
He's handing me tools.
The truck's like, you guys hungry?
We're getting.
Passing food under the car.
Shook and I are working on the car.
It's cool.
It's fun time.
It was awesome.
I mean, that's the kind of thing where you're not going to play in that, but it
ends up being the thing you remember and absolutely.
And it's just so good.
But that whole situation down there is wild.
You don't have many situations like this.
So in the Volkswagen world, right?
There's a there's like a distinct separation between modern stuff and older
stuff and even older Mark new.
Right.
And then there's everything else.
Mark poo.
Yeah.
Same thing.
So this is like an everything Volkswagen auto group, everything.
So you got like new Porsches, old Porsches, Audi's,
just everything and every generation.
And normally when something like that happens, it gets real clicky and
this just separates.
But the way they have this set up, there's get together's all day for
like three or four days dedicated to different types of groupings.
It could be like 11 generation, but some of them, like there was like
a diesel get together and it was like half old rabbits and half new lifted
like Porsches and Touregs and stuff like that.
And so it's just like all crazy diesel shit.
And there's like a five cylinder meat.
So you think it'd be all Audi's now.
There's a whole bunch of five cylinder V dubs.
Yeah.
It's just like a cool every.
It was really cool.
And each meat, they give out like best of stickers.
And then the people who get those, there's like a big show on Saturday.
And so it's basically like a best of show.
That's cool.
Saturday.
And so you get to see kind of everything together again.
And I'll be honest, like people know this, but this is my first time going.
It's like it's perfect.
Like somehow it doesn't get old.
It doesn't get tiring.
It's this tight little area where you can walk from one get together to the next.
There's food everywhere.
There's it's just like ideal.
Did you get a best of toolboxes?
Yeah, I did actually did.
He got an invite.
Did you go to meet other people at a get together with other little two boxes?
Dude, yeah, I'll message.
I'll message Paul the organizer.
We can do a fucking toolbox GTG next year.
That would be fucking hilarious.
Everybody's trunks open.
Show off your toolbox.
Yeah.
John does a trailer together.
Yeah.
AVF trailer, AV trailers of AVF fantastic Instagram page.
You should see it.
They have a meat down by the river.
Take your wife's van.
Yeah.
Take your wife's SUV and your trailer to the trailer meat.
The white stuff he really gets me.
When you guys talk about stuff like this in my head, because talking about what
we're talking about earlier, my car, I always imagine myself just getting rid
of my car and then getting a mark to every time.
Well, look, part of it is because we all know each other and we're hanging out.
And that's what makes it so great.
The cars are awesome.
They're fun.
I love them.
He loves them, obviously.
But like also you, you have that shared knowledge with everybody involved in
that, and it's actually kind of a big community.
Like you go to the mark to get together and you're like, Holy shit,
that's a lot of mark twos.
And it like it doesn't take nothing like it takes something to keep a mark
two on the road.
So every person involved in that has this like shared understanding.
It's camaraderie.
Yeah, it is for sure.
Misery loves company.
That's part of it too.
Yeah.
This is our hobby, right?
It's rolling wrenches.
And I also would tell anybody goes down there, take a day, go drive out.
You want to hit the scenic overlooks out on, I forgot the name of it already,
but the big scene is when you drive there, if there's a bunch of Beamer boys
doing dumb shit, you'll recognize the overlook instantaneously picture spot.
There's also, uh, what's it called?
Bear bald, whatever mountain, the road, good thing up to it is just,
it's like a fucking hill climb.
It is fantastic.
Um, like the first like quarter mile, I just went like one mile an hour and I
ended up, I held up one car for a little bit and I waited a little bit and then
it was fucking on race track to the top of the mountain.
Then you have to pay to get into the state park at the top of the mountain.
But I was like, I'm just turning around, bust the UV and go back down.
Fantastic.
Fantastic.
But then the best one is bell mountain.
Look it up.
If you're in the area, you drive out to it again, you climb up a mountain.
It's not a fun road because the road is so gnarly and straight up and down it zig
zags and like even a few years back, I went to make a right turn and I didn't
know how steep it was an hours and second year and had it stop, roll down to
the switchback, put it in first and get going to make it up to sale.
And then when you get to the top of the parking lot, there's one more hill that
basically is like, if you want to go up this, it's up to you and you go up
another hill and it's straight up and then boom, it opens up to the most
fantastic view of just the whole valley.
I'm forgetting the name of it, but it's Georgia.
You don't, when you're up there, you're like, am I in the Alps or am I in Georgia?
And you're in Georgia and it's absolutely fantastic.
Uh, that's bell mountain.
I make a thing like one year and I didn't go and I was super bummed, but always
go get a group of people, drive out there to drive out there's fantastic.
Hi, Oase.
That's what it is Georgia, but drive out there, go up to the top.
It's tons of graffiti, but the photo location, if you wanted to like shoot
some video and stuff, your car, absolutely fantastic.
How long is the ride out there to Georgia?
It's far.
It's far.
It's like, it ends up being like 19, 20 hours.
Yeah.
Like if you put in like GPS from my house, it's like 16 hours, but it takes
it just stops.
It's 18 plus.
So that's worth mentioning to you.
To your car.
No, no.
No, he drove.
So did John stairs.
Yeah.
God damn hell.
Yeah.
Baller.
I've driven a mark two before I've driven a Porsche 964 but I
did take my mark.
Seven miles.
I cross 40 K on my car.
It was like, I did take my mark.
Seven.
So I'm a pussy.
And it was the both cars did phenomenal.
No, no issues.
I had like a couple tiny like idle issues on the way back again, probably
because I was running the AC though.
I was, Nick, Nick was freaking out about, you know, God, my car's run like shit.
It doesn't want to stay idle.
And then we finally stopped.
And like, I was like, you have the air conditioning on cause he has a mark two
with air conditioning, very smart.
But he also sitting in 90 plus degrees traffic and he's rocking the AC up, bro.
You're 1986 same year.
So that was a brief case, but, uh, you know, it's drawing too much vacuum.
It's finding vacuum.
It's probably creating a vacuum leak, design a vacuum, all this jazz.
And I was like, I'd be not not used the AC.
It'll probably run better.
Yeah.
I mean, it's been, you know, it was, it was totally good.
The funny thing was on the way down, you know, we made some
stops again, it doesn't have to take 20, but like we stopped, we hung out a
little bit with some friends in West Virginia.
We moved on.
We stopped at Bucky's.
That was really cool.
Um, we had this like, I'm not impromptu over Bucky's.
So that's the thing.
We had this impromptu thing at Bucky's where we pulled in, uh, me and John pulled
in and some of our friends who we were actually staying with were there, like
waiting for us and we pulled in and they were like, their cars were parked
next to each other and there was these like kids in a Subaru, just like flipping
out because these are like their cars are nice.
Like these are like well restored, you know, classic Nick's cars.
Nice to go as John stairs.
Jai, I love Jones car.
Yeah.
They, uh, so these, these dudes are like flipping out and then we pulled in the
two of us and so it was like this little Mark two car show and these kids really
just started,
Bucky's Mark two GTG.
So that was kind of a cool moment.
We went in, had our little Bucky's adventure.
It was fine.
It felt fine.
It was like, you know, not too heck of a,
I would call it a Bucky's big adventure because there's nothing little about
on the way back.
We also stopped at the same Bucky's, but it was real busy and I never felt so
disgusting in my life.
It was like, it was just a parade of just, just, it was, you know, all those
sandwiches and all that stuff.
Like if you're into that, cool, like I'm not trying to, you know, but it just
felt, you didn't get the barbecue pulled pork or Magan G on it.
Yeah.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
That shit was all there in, in all it's, but the problem, what I'm talking
about here is that there's more unused space in a Bucky's than, than, you know,
most fucking airports.
Like it's, it's huge.
It's just big to be big.
It's huge.
You could definitely fit more Bucky's in there.
And like it just, the food and the beef jerky and the fucking, it's so abundant.
There's something about it that just like feels so.
Busy.
Buses?
But anyway, yeah.
And like all the people and there's like no rules in the parking lot.
People getting hit left and right fucking, you know, it's just madness.
What do you mean?
How did the, how did the rules change in the parking lot?
There's just no like.
So while I was.
So busies parking.
And it's like a, it's like a parking lot with gas pumps and it's just like
people going everywhere.
That sounds like loves in upstate.
We're going to fucking Lebanon Valley.
People just do whatever the fuck they want.
So annoying.
But again, just trying to get coffee or like tea boning me right now.
If you can go there when there's not that many people, it's fine.
It just felt.
Have you ever been to a busies, Corey?
Never been to Bucky's.
No, never been to a Bucky's.
I'm all set with never going to a busies again.
That's kind of the only big one I haven't been to.
My favorite that I've been to has been in Prim, Nevada, terrible herbs.
It's a hundred and something gas pumps.
It's like, especially the size of a Walmart.
It's called terrible.
That's how big buses is.
Yeah.
What's the name of it?
You said terrible herbs.
H-E-R-B-S-T.
I don't know how to pronounce their last name.
Oh, you're like it's like German.
Yeah.
Erz.
Erz.
Yes.
Erz.
Yes.
Yeah, that's the biggest one I've ever been to.
And it was cool.
It was.
But also your primitive out.
It doesn't actually have anyone who lives there.
So you there's like no, there's no one there.
It's a giant gas station.
96 pumps.
I'm sorry.
So terrible.
Dude, put in four more.
You idiots.
Yeah.
96
Three digits.
Better beginnings.
Yeah.
But it's a, it's definitely the cool spot.
You went in there and just you looking around.
You're like, I just can't believe.
I don't know why I'm so hard time.
Find this right now.
You just can't believe it's like a real thing.
Yeah.
Does anyone else feel like when they're on vacation and they're far away
and whether you're flying home, driving home, taking a train or a bus that
you literally say to yourself,
I would give up my entire bank account if I could snap my fingers and be in my
bed right now.
Does anyone else feel like that when the vacation is over?
The only time I feel that right now.
The only time I ever felt that way is when we were traveling through Europe
and we've been there three weeks, never thought, never even a thought of my mind
going home.
We were going home the following day, but it wasn't like I'm ready to go home.
It wasn't like, get me home.
Nothing.
And we got an email that our flight had been canceled and there was a
switch inside of me that was like, get me the fuck home right now.
I hear you, brother.
So I used to travel for work.
I used to drive up and down the East coast all week, every week or fly.
If it was a further than an eight hour drive.
And my basically every other week on average, I would fly out of Bradley
on a Monday morning and fly home on a Thursday or Friday night.
And that feeling, like my fuse was like gone by the end of that, right?
Like the smallest thing happens.
You're in the airport on your way home and like a small child like waves
hello and you're like, get the fuck out of my way.
You know, it's like, yeah.
Yeah.
You know, it's like it just anything could set me off.
And it was that feeling of like I would do anything.
I would kill anyone to get into my bed right now.
Like, you know, it's it's a real thing.
The last time I was in Europe and it was the night before I flew home midday
the next day and I I laid up all night staring at the ceiling, like with the
anxiety of like, I just want to be home.
Like this is I have to wait now for the fly.
I have to go to sleep, get up and then wait.
And then the good old Dutch, you know, you go to be at the airport three hours
before a freaking international flight.
Yeah. Well, guess what?
I was due security and at the gate in 17 minutes.
What do I do now for two hours and 43 minutes?
God damn it.
Sit there. I fucking hate flying.
It's fine when you're up there and then your mind's like, by the way,
you're 30,000 feet in the air and it could just crash.
I don't like flying in the first place.
And I look out the window and I'm like, I don't know.
That's the thing I got used to it.
I got to a point where I would like get on the plane.
I would leave for my flight an hour before the flight.
Get to the airport a half hour before the flight.
Like walk directly onto the plane and just fall asleep and wake up
like just before landing and be like, oh, okay.
Here we are.
Here we are.
That's Kevin MacDougall.
Any parting words before we pull a plug in this battle, Larry?
It's been a fun, quick one.
And anything about Helen, anything, any wise wisdom we want to depart with.
Look, you should go like whatever you're excited about,
whether it's toolboxes or toolboxes, don't show them off to everybody.
They'll find them in their own time.
You don't need to like, you know, hey, look, let people make up their own
minds on how to design their toolboxes.
Yeah, that's an interesting metaphor.
Nice. Nice.
Get out there and drive.
Get out there.
Participation over perfection, Edward.
Unless you like to try to make things perfect, then do your thing.
But make sure you're participating the whole time.
Last thing I have to part with is that Blake sent a little donation.
I don't know what Blake is.
I don't need no explanation.
For his classic or show is coming back Sunday, September 27th, 2026.
That long planks in Tiverton.
Yeah, Blake's brothers on John stairs podcast.
That's right. Topics on the stairs.
It's an indoor car show in like a sports complex.
It is wildly cool.
But it's coming back September 27th, 2026.
Put it on the calendar.
It's come show up, hang out, walk around, look at cars parked on a basketball
court in the soccer fields.
It's really weird.
It's really cool.
It's like this bizarre feeling you're walking around inside.
Where kids play basketball and like their sports leagues.
And there's like an air cool Porsche parked in the middle.
It's cool. Go check it out.
Noice. Nice.
Play us out, Maestro.
No. Autumn left.
Boom. This one.
Not that one.
You got it.
Oh, he did it.
Proud of you.
About this episode
The Revival Motoring crew kicks things off with a hilarious debate over American geography, questioning why the Midwest is named what it is after a grueling road trip through Kansas. Shifting gears to garage projects, Scott shares his experience restoring the seatbelts on his Honda Civic. He details a surprisingly fast and high-quality mail-in restoration service in Massachusetts that completely refreshed his interior. It’s a classic mix of off-topic banter, road trip misery, and practical DIY advice.
