The Kia Soul is a small car with a boxy shape that’s meant for everyday driving. The podcast is referencing their experience with one and saying it was good.
“Full coverage” is insurance that usually covers more than just damage to other people’s cars. If your car is totaled, it’s the kind of policy that can pay you for the loss instead of leaving you stuck.
Throttle surge is when a car feels like it keeps giving you a little extra push even when you’re trying to ease off the gas. It can make the ride feel jerky or annoying because the engine isn’t smoothly matching your throttle input.
A four-cylinder turbo is a small engine with four cylinders that uses a turbocharger to make more power. Because it relies on boost, it can feel a bit different when you press the gas versus when you let off.
Left-hand drive means the driver sits on the left side of the car, which is the standard layout in most countries. Switching between left- and right-hand drive can change how quickly you adapt to controls, mirrors, and lane positioning.
A track rod end is part of the steering linkage that helps control the front wheels. If it’s worn, the steering can feel loose or the car can wander a bit.
An air hammer is a tool that uses compressed air to hit very fast, like a heavy-duty jackhammer. Mechanics use it to break loose stuck parts or remove things that won’t come off easily. It usually works with attachments like chisels or punches.
Part
Holy shift short shifter kits
A short shifter kit changes how far your gear lever moves when you shift. The goal is usually to make shifting quicker and feel a bit more accurate. It’s an aftermarket upgrade you buy to improve the “feel” of manual shifting.
A gearbox is the part of the car that lets you use different gear ratios. It’s what makes the engine work well at different speeds. When people are fitting shifters, they often work directly with the gearbox so the linkage lines up correctly.
In the UK, an MOT check is a yearly safety and emissions inspection for most cars and vans. If it fails, you typically can’t legally drive it until the issues are fixed.
“Poly bushes” are replacement suspension parts made from polyurethane instead of rubber. They can last longer and feel tighter, but they may make the ride a bit harsher.
The Volkswagen Golf is a small car you can use every day. People often talk about it because it’s common and practical, and the podcast is comparing how its interior looks in a specific example.
An impact driver is a power tool that helps you drive screws in (or take them out) with extra force. It’s great when normal screwdrivers or drills can’t get enough grip.
Brake discs are the metal rotors the brake pads squeeze to slow the car down. When you’re changing brakes, parts around the discs can be stuck, so the right tools help you get them off without breaking things.
A gearbox issue means the car’s transmission isn’t working right. If it shudders when you put it in reverse or doesn’t stay in gear, something inside the gearbox or its control system is likely failing.
Term
Macatronics
“Macatronics” is the control unit for a dual-clutch gearbox. If it’s failing, the car can feel jerky or shudder when shifting, especially at low speeds or when selecting reverse.
Reverse is the gear used to move the car backward, and in an automatic or dual-clutch transmission it still requires correct clutch/gear engagement. If reverse causes shuddering or the car drops out of gear, it strongly suggests a transmission control or clutch-actuation problem rather than a simple driving technique issue.
Term
20 20 DSG box
DSG is a type of automatic gearbox that uses two clutches to shift quickly. They’re saying the problem on this gearbox is more complicated than on a typical DSG setup from around 2020.
Term
Temperature thing
They’re talking about the car’s temperature warning—basically the engine running too hot. Given they mention coolant/water issues right after, it sounds like the cooling system wasn’t keeping up.
The water pump moves coolant around the engine to keep it from overheating. If it fails and coolant is lost, the engine can get too hot fast, which is why they’re worried about damage.
TDI is a diesel engine type that uses a turbo and injects fuel directly into the engine. It’s designed to make strong pulling power and good fuel economy.
A “time belt” is the timing belt that keeps the engine’s valves and pistons moving in sync. If it breaks, the engine can be badly damaged, so it’s important to replace it on schedule.
“Full service history” means the car’s maintenance was recorded and done regularly. It’s a good sign because it suggests the car was looked after instead of being neglected.
“No brakes” means the car isn’t slowing down when the driver tries to brake. That can happen if something goes wrong with the brake system, and it’s dangerous because you can’t stop like you normally would.
The Audi RS4 is a fast, performance-focused Audi. The podcast is talking about how much one costs compared to a specific model year, which is why it’s being mentioned.
The Dacia Logan is a low-cost car designed to be affordable. The podcast mentions it because it’s become a meme, meaning people talk about it online a lot.
In racing, penalties are rule-enforcement actions (like time penalties or drive-throughs) given for infractions such as unsafe driving or failing to follow race procedures. They can drastically affect finishing position even if a car is otherwise fast.
“Laps down” means the car is behind the leaders by whole laps. If you’re far behind, you can still finish the race, but you can’t realistically win the top spots.
A privateer is a racing team that isn’t the official factory team. They typically run their own effort and may have less money than the manufacturer-backed teams.
GT cars are purpose-built race versions of regular cars. They’re commonly used in endurance racing and are usually faster and more specialized than everyday vehicles.
Porsche is a German sports-car brand strongly associated with endurance racing and GT competition. In this segment, “Porsches” are used as shorthand for the high-profile, typically well-funded cars Dacia is being compared against.
The Acura NSX is a sports car designed to be quick and fun to drive. The podcast is mentioning it because the price has changed recently and because low-mileage examples are especially sought after.
The Acura NSX T is a more track-focused version of the NSX. Here they’re talking about a very low-mileage example, and how that makes it more valuable at auction.
The Honda NSX is a sports car made by Honda. It’s known for being a proper performance car, and here they’re talking about how it might feel slower than you’d expect because of its power.
Horsepower is a number that tells you how much power the engine can make. Higher horsepower usually means the car can accelerate harder, but it doesn’t always feel that way in real driving.
Brand
VW
“VW” means Volkswagen, a car brand. The speaker is just saying they personally prefer Volkswagen cars.
The Bentley Continental GT is a luxury “grand tourer” Bentley—built for fast, comfortable long drives. Here, the host is saying they found one for a bargain price, but it ended up having major problems.
“Dog of a thing” is slang for “a really bad one.” In this context, it means the car wasn’t in good shape and turned out to be a bad purchase.
Concept
scrapper
“Scrapper” here likely means a scrapyard or vehicle dismantling operation—where cars are broken down for parts or disposed of. The host’s wording suggests the plan was to use the car as a source of parts rather than keep it running normally.
They’re talking about an extreme fuel-savings goal: using only about 3 liters of diesel to drive 100 kilometers. It’s basically a “how far can you go on a tiny amount of fuel” target.
The Nissan Skyline is a sports car that has many different versions. The podcast is talking about particular generations and how their spoilers/looks are different, which is something enthusiasts often notice.
“Bigger brakes” means the car has stronger brake parts than before. That usually helps the car stop better and handle repeated hard braking without fading.
A front lip is a small piece on the very bottom of the front bumper. It’s usually there for style and a bit of aerodynamics, and the host is saying later versions don’t add as much beyond that.
A side skirt is the panel at the bottom of the car along the side. “Color coded” just means it’s painted to match the rest of the car, mostly affecting appearance rather than performance.
Lower valances are the lower bumper-area panels on a car. They can change the look a lot, and sometimes help with airflow, but here the host is mainly pointing them out as styling differences.
The handbrake cable is the cable that connects the handbrake lever to the rear brakes. When you pull the handbrake, it’s what helps apply the rear brakes.
Place
American Car Owners Club of Ireland
That’s an Irish club for people who own American cars. They run an annual get-together that the hosts are talking about.
The BMW 5 Series is a larger, more comfortable BMW sedan than the smaller models. The podcast is mentioning it while discussing BMW model generations using internal codes.
The BMW 3 Series is a mid-size sedan that’s designed to feel sporty to drive. The podcast is mentioning it while talking about BMW model generations using codes.
GTI is Volkswagen’s name for the sportier version of certain cars. It usually means the car is tuned to feel more responsive and fun to drive than the regular version.
“Mark 5 GTi” is a Volkswagen Golf GTI from the Mk5 generation. It’s the sportier version of the Golf, usually with a more performance-oriented setup than a regular Golf.
A “gravel drop” refers to a safety area at the end of a track where a car that can’t stop can drop into loose material. The idea is to slow the vehicle down using the gravel’s resistance and reduce the chance of hitting hard barriers.
Term
P gravel
“P gravel” is a type of gravel with a particular grain size. The size matters because it affects how well it slows a car down if it goes off the track.
Freestyle motocross is motorcycle stunt riding—big jumps and tricks. It can draw a crowd that needs different track seating than other types of racing.
NASCAR drivers are people who race stock cars in NASCAR. The speaker is saying most of them live fairly close to the circuit.
Brand
Alpine McLaren
That phrase is about racing teams/brands. Alpine and McLaren are both big names in motorsport, so the hosts are talking about a track area where those racing connections are relevant.
Place
main circuit
The “main circuit” just means the main track layout where cars would do laps for racing. It’s the part of the facility designed for driving the course, not the surrounding areas.
The infield is the space inside the race track. When you hear “infield,” it usually means the area where teams and facilities are located, not the outer roads around the track.
Development testing means using the track to try out updates and improvements on a car. Teams do it to learn what works before they commit to the final race setup.
Term
rooval
A “rooval” is a race track that mixes two styles: an oval and a road course. Part of the lap is like an oval, and part of it cuts into the infield like a normal twisting track.
“Paulist” is the brand of the wheels. They’re aluminum wheels, and the wheel choice affects both the look and how the car feels on the road.
Term
machined down
“Machined down” means the part was cut or reshaped using machining equipment. Here, it sounds like they modified the wheel so it fits the intended size.
“Low profile” means the tire has a shorter sidewall, so the wheel looks bigger. “Slammed” means the car sits very low to the ground.
Term
PVW feature
“PVW feature” sounds like a magazine or website feature. The host is saying the car was selected to be shown off in that publication.
Place
Helen
“Helen” is the place where the car was photographed. The host is saying the shoot happened there before the cars were taken elsewhere for more coverage.
“Heavily modified” just means the car has been changed a lot from how it left the factory. People do it to make it faster, handle better, or look different.
“997” is a Porsche 911 generation. It’s a well-liked 911 because it looks like a classic 911 but has more modern tech, and there are lots of parts and upgrades available.
Term
three spoke advance
This is describing a wheel design. A “three spoke” wheel has three main spokes, and the speaker is saying the Porsches they’re talking about had that style of wheel.
This means changes to both the car’s suspension (how it rides and handles) and the body (how it looks or how parts fit). The speaker is saying the cars weren’t only about fancy wheels—people also modified the car itself.
The Porsche Cayenne is a Porsche SUV, meaning it’s bigger than a sports car and built for everyday driving. The podcast is talking about how some versions look more lifted or modified than others.
They had cars where the engine wasn’t installed, even though the engine parts were available. That usually means more work—like fitting it back in—and you have to check that everything is complete and in good shape.
Term
rusted the stock tires
They’re saying the car had rust on the original wheels/tires setup. Rust like that usually means the car sat in bad conditions and may be expensive to fix or unsafe to drive.
“Sport truck” is a specialized trim/category label implying a more performance- or appearance-oriented pickup than a base model. The speaker notes it’s “pretty rare,” which suggests a specific factory variant rather than just any pickup with sporty styling.
“Painted over” implies the vehicle’s surface was refinished to cover something—often rust, damage, or prior repairs. For enthusiasts and buyers, this is a red flag because it can hide structural issues or poor-quality bodywork underneath.
The Volkswagen Bora is a regular sedan-style Volkswagen. The podcast is basically saying it doesn’t really feel like the kind of car some people associate with being plain or boxy.
The Toyota Hilux is a pickup truck built for hauling and everyday practical use. The podcast is using it as a reference point for the kind of truck you’d buy to move things around.
The Toyota Tundra is a large pickup truck. It’s the kind of vehicle people use to haul things or do practical jobs, and the podcast is using it as an example of that type of truck.
DSG is a type of automatic gearbox used by Volkswagen and related brands. It shifts quickly because it’s set up to prepare the next gear ahead of time, but some versions have had reliability issues that may require regular attention.
Term
Haltex
Haldex (often misspoken as “Haltex”) is a system that helps send power to the rear wheels on some AWD cars. If it isn’t serviced regularly, it can start acting up or fail.
Car
GMC Denali
Denali is a nicer trim level from GMC. It usually means more comfort and higher-end options than the base versions.
A “map” here means reprogramming the car’s computer settings. It can change how the engine delivers power and response, especially after you change parts like the intake.
The airbox is the part that holds the air filter and helps route air into the engine. Changing it can make the engine get air more easily and can also change the sound.
Term
res delete
“Res delete” usually means removing a part in the exhaust that makes the sound quieter. Doing it can make the exhaust flow better and sound different, and sometimes it’s paired with tuning so the car still runs right.
Springs are what help the car absorb bumps and keep the wheels in contact with the road. Upgrading them can make the ride feel better if the shocks are still okay.
Coilovers are suspension parts that let you change how stiff the ride is and sometimes how low the car sits. If they’re low quality, the ride can get worse instead of better.
A full engine build means the engine gets taken apart and rebuilt. Mechanics replace or refresh worn parts so it runs properly again. It can also be done to handle more power than before.
A full respray is when a shop completely repaints the car. They usually prep the body first, then spray new paint over everything. It’s done to make the car look like new again or to fix paint damage.
RMS here sounds like a name or abbreviation for a listing/seller, but the episode doesn’t explain what it stands for. It’s probably something you’d recognize locally if you’re in that scene.
An engine swap means putting a different engine into a car than it originally came with. It’s more than just bolting it in—you often need to sort out wiring, fitment, and other parts so everything works together.
“20 valve” describes how many valves the engine has. More valves can mean more ways for air and fuel to flow, but it also affects how the engine is built. The speaker is saying some swaps are easier if the engine is a simpler 20-valve design.
Cup holders are the little compartments in a car that hold your drinks. In this episode, they’re saying that if cup holders are badly designed, it can ruin the whole experience of the car.
Term
drive thru
“Drive-thru” means you order food or drinks while staying in your car. They’re saying this makes good cup holders more important.
In this context, “manual” means a traditional manual transmission with a driver-operated gear stick and clutch. The hosts are contrasting how the center-cabin layout (like cup holders and armrests) can interfere with a manual’s gear lever compared with a DSG setup.
Topic
convoying
“Convoying” just means driving together with other cars as a group. They’re talking about whether they were traveling that way.
The Alpine A106 is an older, classic sports car. The podcast is telling a story about seeing one at a campsite, including a surprising moment where it was on the roof.
Concept
modified rally
A “modified rally” car is a car that’s been changed to handle rougher driving, like rally racing. The speaker is saying that kind of car was involved in the bump.
LIVE
Hello and welcome back to the Really Luke podcast.
You're not hearing things, I'm actually recording for once.
Hey Nigel.
And I'm joined as usual.
Bye.
Lee Maxwell and Connor McCann.
This is episode 156.
It's the previous episode of 155 where Connor and Lee chatted about Dub Shed.
Dub Shed hangover.
Is that what you mean it's been pre-Dub Shed that you were on?
Yeah.
I was meeting Jake earlier on there and I was chatting to him and I was going, it's been
ages since I recorded.
I actually think it's a good lifetime.
I think we've actually missed a week as well with being away.
So that's probably why it feels a little bit longer.
We must discipline ourselves and focus or just relax and do the normal stuff.
Or relax.
How long is the week ago?
We were in America.
Yeah.
We couldn't record it anyway then.
Yeah.
So we've been all over the place going here, going there and Shed was in the line.
So the start of the line today and it's the end of May.
Middle end of May.
And yeah.
So let's dive straight back into it.
What's new with you guys?
Jetlag?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm so tired.
I think in the last, I've been pulling the lead lately and away with work.
I think in the last 24 days I was home.
You've done some serious air miles.
Three and a half.
That's the thing.
I was in Germany for a week.
Then I came back.
Then I went to Germany again.
Then I came back and then two days later I went to America.
And now unfortunately I am back.
Just in time for a heat wave apparently.
I'd like to see it.
Yeah.
I'm not one for the heat, but when we come back it was quite the culture shock.
What sort of temperature was it in the hell on the 30?
Not too bad.
23 to 25 most of the week.
And then the day we were coming home it was 33.
And with the fangs we're travelling the car, our car on.
What car did you get?
Don't talk.
You got a lovely Volvo last time remember?
He was lovely.
Biggest.
He was shite.
Like this is probably the worst car.
We had a Kia Soul in Florida in 2022.
And the Kia Soul was fantastic part of this.
It was a Jeep Compass.
So we picked it up.
And to America you usually get your choice of cars.
The guy was in the spot.
There's a garage.
Pick your spot.
Yeah.
This one was like, here's your slot.
They were signing the car and I was like, that's fine.
So walked up, done the usual walk around.
And I was like, this thing's been hit with a hammer.
Every panel was damaged, chipped.
The wheels were curved.
I don't care.
But I was like, I'm just don't want to come back in this.
I don't want to get charged for it.
So I went back to them and the guy was like, look, we can put you in another car you want,
but you've got full coverage in this.
If you total it, you're fine.
And I was like, that's grand.
As long as I'm not, that's all right.
So we got into it anyway.
Went up the road and I would say it was about three miles.
You were like, I hate this car.
I fucking hate this thing.
At that point when you get off a flight and you're wanting to get somewhere, you just
don't care.
It'll be fine.
But it annoyed me the whole way.
It's like throttle surge.
So when you work on the throttle and you let off, there's a four cylinder turbo, but when
you let off, it was like wanting to push on that little bit all the time.
So that was kind of high.
And I'd had a mess far or a fucking mess at some point in the range that it was like.
Oh, you've been sitting like on the highway at 70 80 kind of thing.
It's just like we miss nine again.
When you go over your flat Charlotte, you're doing a good couple of hundred miles.
Like I think we've done 600 miles on total.
Because it's a good what four and a half hours if you were doing a straight run down the
helm.
What else was there about us?
Like it was just tiny inside.
It's obviously a cheap.
We're going to Dr. Seuss a cheap, cheap, but like.
It's the bottom end of cheap range, I would imagine, to the point where I can
get into it and my autism kicked in and I clicked the indicators and went,
this feels like a fade Ponto and lo and behold, yes, the chair stocks are
fucking fade Ponto, which is the same as my mass from 2006.
You guys use our cars every so often.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's a big fallout from covid.
It used to be you looked forward to get your car because it was usually fresh,
you know, and now they're just throw any shit at you.
Yeah.
They probably do it.
And if you got somebody who complained, they'll give you a decent car.
Yeah.
Like get somebody like me who doesn't really care.
You know, I'm not there for the higher car.
It's like hotels as long as it's clean and comfortable.
I don't care what it looks like or what it is.
Yeah.
Out of bad experience, like I talked about.
Goodwood last year.
Yes.
The Ford Galaxy.
That's a dangerous car they give me.
Like, well, this was like this because.
Do I like lean assist?
If you drift in the lane, it'll like forcibly turn this there.
And we'll this didn't do that.
It was like.
A gentle nudge of the wheel.
And I don't know if it was just that system been pretty gentle.
Now, I had done two weeks on left hand drive already in Germany,
so it was pretty set for driving left hand drive.
And I don't think I made too many fuck ups, but.
This felt more like a track rod end was away, like where it was like
the steering wheel would just wander occasionally as opposed to you were
keeping an eye out for a wheel and just rolling down the road.
I just was not a great vehicle.
And there was only 30,000 miles on it.
And even if you give it the it gets three times the abuse, you know,
saves 100,000 miles.
Lease superb has 200,000 mile on it and drove far better than that.
It was just I was absolutely brutal.
And as I say, we normally try and get a truck
because the cheapest way to get a bigger vehicle.
But this time did not work.
I was really impressed by the last year we got
other than the screen kept blanking out, remember?
That's right.
Forgot about that.
Because I said, usually I was like, this would be a great next car.
I was genuinely when we first got it, I was like, because I was thinking
about changing the superb and I thought this could be nice.
I like Volvo's.
This seems to be design is particularly nice.
And then as soon as the screen started fucking about nothing,
when he had sex, I was in my son.
I was like, no, I'm out of here.
I remember taking the Volvo into town one night in hell and the screen glitzed
and it didn't go black.
It went bright white and it was like somebody putting their headlights on.
Remember that?
You couldn't turn it off.
Yeah, it was just done.
I was like, oh, this is good.
That was one good thing I will say about the Jeep.
It had a button on the dash for screen off.
So everything still worked.
Your radio and that still played your music and stuff.
You didn't have to turn the whole infotainment thing off,
but you turn the screen off at night.
So it wasn't lying.
Yeah, that's good.
Carsways.
Not a look near them, I suppose, really.
Our own cars.
I did a wee bit before sort of between.
The weekend I was back.
I think it did a little bit.
So the centre box that I'm making to house the valve block for the air
suspension and the compressor, I got it drilled and I epoxy like these,
like the spike nuts underneath it.
I mounted the stand that I made for the.
Valve block.
And then I trimmed the whole base of it.
And because of the weird bit that sort of cuts in with the fiberglass goes
for the spare wheel, well, I couldn't trim it all in one piece.
So I've trimmed the bottom half of it and then just need to trim the side walls.
But I was kind of person that I was trying to get a video out and I was like,
I'm not going to get this done.
So I come in and pack my bag.
I think I packed my bag.
We left on the Monday and I packed my bag on the Sunday night.
Yeah, down to the wire.
Um, I think that's the only thing I've got done to the car.
Don't you got your drive stops removed?
Yes. Finally.
Our good friend, Stefan, shout out.
Came over with his air hammer and his can do attitude.
His can do positive.
Can be out of the other men or positive man of the things.
It's definitely a really good MLVW.
He did. He told me all about it.
He really enjoyed himself.
Like Marty Mem did too.
I heard Marty did as well.
Yeah. Yeah.
I also bought some parts from my car while we were away.
You did actually. That's correct.
In America or online or in America.
So I shopped at shopped up, not dot com dot field.
Yeah, cause I bought direct from shopped up in the field.
Excellent.
I bought one of their Holy shift short shifter kits.
So it was really good.
The way they had their stand set up, they had it was just like gazebos,
but they had like a wee workshop trolley kind of thing
with two gearboxes sitting on it
and then the cables running up to a table
and the two shifters were mounted on to the table.
And one of them had the shift get fitted and one of them didn't.
So you could compare like the throw of the of the gears
and just very clever piece of marketing.
And here's our product. Here's what it does.
Here's what it does.
Comptouch field.
They had loads of them and you just went, I'll have one of those.
And they went, here's your box of goodies and off you went.
Nice.
So yeah, it was really good.
It's really lovely packaging and smart looking
and they had a slight discount on for the show day.
So yeah, it was obviously I saved on the postage
not having to buy it from there.
So it was pretty good.
What did you get for it?
200 and thirty dollars.
So about 200 quid there is just just under.
Yeah. And normally a 270 on their website.
So that's good.
It's all right.
What else went up to?
They replace a light in the garage, which happened to time
with one of the lights, the LED lights is flickering
and it's tripping the ones.
So the flicker of doom.
Thankfully, it's wired in two circuits.
So you can have three of the six on without blowing them,
which has actually turned out to be quite a nice option for it.
Staff from night on an MOT check on my dad's van the other day,
which is kind of weird because it's very long time.
I've done anything like non modifying on a car.
And you're like just general maintenance maintenance type check over to God.
I was going to say, this was the T.T.
work, but then we did the poly bushes and stuff.
Yeah, it's kind of.
Surprisingly, how clean that van is.
It's a 2013 X builders delivery van
and like the floor panel is cleaner than a Marks X golf.
Yeah, like I've seen a lot worse
golfs underneath for that are fresher.
What does I do?
I bought some stuff when I was away.
We had our usual harbor for it for some Chinese.
This time. Yes.
I sort of tried to plan for a left one I needed.
And really, the big thing I needed was sets of pliers.
So I got side cutters and pointing those pliers and normal pliers and stuff.
Stop the usual spot.
I the Greenville one. Yeah.
I got a light from a spray gun because on the front end, like an LED,
but it's like the it's a bit like a sun gun,
which is the same color temperatures daylight
because we're the best one in the world.
Anywhere we're painting is never the best conditions.
So the more light the better.
And I sort of debated on this one, but I bought long and short three at Sockets.
And I don't know what their sockets are like,
but they went from eight to nineteen without skipping,
which was a good thing.
But also I'd like them to go to 24
And it's kind of bugging me that the down so I'll probably end up on another.
Steph, I'm saying there's a blue point set quite cheap you can buy
or a Milwaukee set that does the whole size.
So I might end up buying them anyway and use these ones as backups,
but they weren't expensive.
So I have a couple of blue points.
So it's like they're good.
Aye, that's the thing.
Honestly, if the sockets are as good as the icon ratchet,
I can't really fault them, but I don't know what they're like yet.
But as I said, they were.
Thirty dollars and forty dollars or something or 45 dollars each.
So did you meet the guy at the tell again?
No, he wasn't there.
I was just watching for him.
It's it's weird that it's funny.
We go back to Helen.
There's people that remember you, but in their car people.
So they're going to be there when you go into some random shop
and fucking you guys are about Carolina.
He's like, yeah, I remember you.
The Irish guys were here this time last year. Yes.
I think that's everything for me.
Was I bought a few bits and harbor for it.
I was looking for a set of pry bars, which I bought.
And then it was just like, well, what else can I buy?
And I bought so Richie had been talking about this.
Like a screwdriver.
Punch thing, I guess you'd kind of call it.
I call it like an impact driver, but I don't know if that's a proper name for
with screwdriver bits that you can.
If you ring the head of a screw, basically you can hammer this thing.
And I bought one of them two years ago, because when you go to take front
brake discs off and the things snap.
Funny, that's the first thing I said.
Leah was like, I'll be good for practice.
Yeah. So I got my own draper or Amazon.com.
I would imagine the same.
Mine's similar.
Well, Richie bought a nice set like in a nice box,
quite a big handle on it and loads of bits, which was I think about $40.
And I bought the one in the little gray sort of tray plastic box,
which is smaller, only has six bits and it was $9.99.
And I was like, well, you'll do me.
Perfect.
We need the fancy one, just give Richie a break.
Exactly.
So what are you even up to then?
Quite a dramatic few months.
Oh, God.
Yeah. So I'm with the Q5.
It was up two weeks ago.
Took out a gift of voice and sealed through happy days.
Was it telling about the gearbox issue?
You did mention that there was something quite a common problem on that.
Is it?
Macatronics is starting to give an issue.
And so you put it in reverse, it would sort of shudder the odd time or just
drop out of gear.
It's started to move in first a wee bit now, just
crawling speeds, you know, if you're taking off, you can hear it feel a shudder.
So it's going in now.
And I think it's two weeks going in.
It's it's a bit more complicated than like the 20 20 DSG box, apparently.
They're quite easy to fix.
You just pop them out and send them off.
That's what I was going to say, because I know I'm sure Andy.
Very common.
There's a even for like the front wheel drive cars.
I think the Macatronic units on the front of the box.
Yeah.
But you can remove the whole thing.
There's a company is it like you test in Duncan on that?
Yeah, it must be Hobbs, is it?
I don't know the name of it, but we have Johnny Kelly.
And he just done one his there.
So just pop out, take it up, refer it, pop back in as such.
There was a couple of places in England.
I think one was ECU testing.
But it used to be in England, you can only say that to.
But the guys opened the gun there.
And they were even the English ones were quirky.
It was a two or three day turnaround on the center.
You follow instructions, how to reinstall it.
It's sort of remind me.
I've probably been a bit stupid by saying this, but it sort of remind me
the time you done your solid noid video.
Oh, yeah.
It's a bit more complicated version of that.
But that's what they are.
It's it. Yeah.
There's that many parts of them that look complicated.
But then when you actually get into it, I've never done it, but I've seen
a lot of breakdowns of them.
And it's that thing if you took the cover off, you go, oh, no.
But then once you get into it, it's not as scary as it seems.
Yeah.
So that's an issue and especially becoming more of an issue
because the Gulf hours in hospital. Oh, no. Yeah.
I think it was a couple of weeks ago.
I was going into work on a Sunday morning and just busy relieved itself as
old water. So. Oh, yeah.
Temperature thing came up and pulled it in.
So it's it's been up and on these very, very busy at the moment.
So he has another problem.
I got it, but it's like the sales completely went in the water pump.
Oh, OK. Just dumped the water out.
Just dumped the water out.
So hopefully there's no damage done.
So I've been daily driving the club sport.
I was going to say it must be terrible, but I don't like daily driving
the club sport because, you know, you don't put miles on it.
Don't put miles on it.
I found nearly something out to a 10.
It takes a specialist. Yeah.
I. Yeah.
But apart from that,
Jack Marks, six golf.
It was a bit of a last time needs work.
So.
Push came to shove and there was no pushing because the clutch went on.
Did I talk with the last time I did?
I think he said it was on the road out, but I'm going to try and sell it before
it was totally shut.
Yeah, because he was driving the key five over dub shit.
He was I.
Yeah. So yeah, the clutch sort of dunked itself.
You did talk about this because you offered it for sale in the podcast.
Yeah.
That's what it was.
Marketplace got sold. Excellent.
So I sourced them.
Marks seven.
Two liter GT TDI.
It's a two liter TDI engine.
That's GT.
So it was really good.
Spackets, full.
I actually did.
Radar parking sensors, everything.
I didn't know that it was a GT TDI on a mark seven.
Yeah.
So it's we read three door.
Nice week car, got it real good money and like there's some absolute heaps out there.
TDIs.
You're trying to get low insurance group on low tax ones for him.
And I've seen this red one, Donagaday and text them.
I was a woman who owned it for 10 years.
She bought it out of Agnes.
Have a nice full service history time belt on 20,000 miles ago.
Needless service.
Don Adil.
Jack's delighted.
Can't be bothered.
Don ago this weekend.
Marks sevens to me are still brand new cars because I live in an alternate reality.
That's a 12 year old car, but also.
Even my clubs were 10 years old.
That's scary.
But it's even gone back like what?
Two or three years.
Adam and I, they see the guys in black line and they were back in a mark seven.
And I was like, you know, oh, nice.
The future.
And then I would look at it and be like, really?
I were back in this, you know, and that's the norm.
They're heaps like they're they get that point for an older car now.
And they don't get looked after and that kind of thing.
But then I always think like not that they exist anymore, but an older car is
a four or 500 pound car that doesn't get looked after because it's
disposable, not a three and a half to four grand car.
That's absolutely wild.
So he's trying to get that got serviced on the service that for me there.
Got the stamps and that'll be a big step up for him coming from the one point six as well.
Well, yeah, it's another was a 150 horse.
I think it's a 150.
That seems lease.
It's a nice, go on me car like really smooth.
So that left us with Mark six.
It had two months of MOT on it.
I had the wing for it.
And he did a new door skin.
Clutch needs fixed.
So Google the boat looking all the time.
Another estimate just went right.
Stick them on right here, sticking up for 1200 quitter rules.
Marketplace, you just leave yourself open to abuse.
Abuse. And I sent you some of the messages.
You sent me quite a good one.
Like to respond to the.
I haven't been guilty of myself, but I know people that do.
You just chance your arm.
But he didn't even bid me.
I don't think that message is no, he didn't.
He was just busy.
So the advert explained all needed what done.
Oh, you weren't hiding anything and added price to Elmerquid.
Mark six, similar mileage condition.
Or sorry, they're about three grand.
The car. So I just sort of factored in 400 pound clutch,
bit of cell work, new door skin.
So I just sort of 12 or quiz not bad.
A smart ass start tax me.
That needs a clutch at 500 quid and a new door.
And this here and that there.
You know, no shit.
And I just went, yeah, as described in the advert.
And then he replied, good luck getting that money for it or something like that.
And I replied, I don't think you mean that or something like that.
I don't feel you.
You should see your market place.
You can see if they viewed it.
And I had the car sold within 12 hours.
And I just set a screenshot of the soul when it's
set up and set it to a scene that he's seen it.
Didn't reply.
Revenge is sweet.
It is. That's the thing.
I told you, I was like, even if you never sell a car, if you scrap a car,
I'm going to text you and quote unquote, do a deal for it.
And then you can send them the message.
But apart from that, all good.
Apart from that, I did your entire car.
What is falling down around you?
I was I had his profile looked on you.
We basically lived and what he worked at.
So you weren't talking about it at all.
I actually found out what company you worked for.
So you weren't annoyed then, no?
Not at all.
Internet trolls annoy me.
How's they do you, Connor?
No. Yes.
I'm a sensible level headed person.
Yeah. We'll form a thing called the Troll Squad.
The Troll Squad. Troll Hunters.
We go out and kill people that do this sort of crap on people.
We won't do that Nigel.
Oh, sorry. Definitely not.
If any. That would never happen.
If any bodies are listening, we're only joking.
Right. Let's get into news news.
I'll start off in a bit of a downer, as is always good.
But it hasn't been a good time for racing this last while.
No, we've lost Kyle Loftus, who was the founder of 1320 video.
Yeah. And then just yesterday.
Yeah, two days ago. It was.
Kyle Bush, which was quite a shock
because man's 41 years old and he was suddenly
he took suddenly ill.
He said he was racing a walk in Glen a couple of weeks back
and he part of the radio through to say that he felt the sign of this issue
or something that he wanted the team doctor to be at his trailer when he came back.
Must be a stroke or something.
Well, there's rumors like, like, well, I've never heard of this, but double pneumonia.
They can get double cancer.
Like what? I don't know.
Is that pneumonia in both lungs? Is that it?
I don't know.
I know they're just making things up now.
But it's nothing.
I knew it just double double next time.
Worse, but a very short illness and
something like that's walking.
Stam is a couple of weeks ago.
I put a tweet up which is wild for somebody.
It's obviously an athlete as well.
You know, those guys are super fit, which is very sad to see.
Going back to Kyle, like just
I was talking to Andy from Forge, Andrea Forge about this, like
I love this.
I love this.
Sorry.
Like you think about a world without Kyle Loftus.
What he did for Drag Race and who?
I think he was one of the first YouTube channels I subscribed to many, many years
a long time ago.
Yeah, like that fed into Cleetus,
who's one of the biggest automotive channels in the world, who fed into this.
That I who has Cleetus them
street outlaws and Discovery Channel.
Yeah, which all wouldn't have happened without 1320.
You know, that's crazy.
And some of the entertainment then boys put up for
like some of the videos were insane.
I will never forget the one where he went out in the RS3.
And I say, did you see it?
It's it's scary.
I look scared because you can see the panic where he's like, there's no brakes.
Yeah, no brakes.
It's on fire.
They're doing what like 150 at one point and they're trying to slow it down.
I'm just like, you feel like you're in it.
It's not dramatized.
It's just pure panic.
Yeah.
That's probably my stand out video for them.
And then did you watch the one Cleetus put up like two weeks ago?
Were he handed the ZR1?
The ZR1. I was like, watching that then, looking back on these
a totally different frame of mind when you're saying, yeah, it's a very sad video
for something to be so happy.
But yeah, the racing world has lost to absolute legends and only two kiles.
Yeah. Yeah.
Never thought of that way, actually.
So it's very sad to see both of them gone.
We're close to home.
Some good news for motors.
Customer care specialist, Rysal Reeves has announced a few.
She's just got that.
Or is it she works?
Barclays or Santander's?
She now runs the economy. Excellent.
Anyway, she's frozen the fuel duty again.
Right. Remember that frozen.
Hi. Last year with the business at the Ram or we're going to keep the freeze on.
So that'll hopefully help people and those that claim mileage through work.
It's been as long as I remember, I've been working 20 years for the same company
and it's always been 45 p.m.
A.m. Yeah, even though fuel has doubled.
It's been as put up to 55 p.m.
When's that kicking?
Because I'm about to submit.
Expensive.
You have to ask Rachel.
I'll have to ask for it.
Full of Santander and ask for it.
Put in a couple of weeks on that.
Yeah. Another good thing just at the bottom of that article was
hall ears are getting a 12 month road tax holiday.
Oh, that's good.
So they're getting a free year, basically, more or less.
I think it's a pound or something instead of 900 and fifty.
It I'd have to look in the details of that.
But just a sort of a footnote in the article.
So what you're saying is they're actually trying to do something right for once.
Is the government doing something that doesn't screw over the boomers?
I think they realize they're screwed.
I think they realize they're screwed and they're just throwing things
and see if the stick like one of the funniest things I've seen this week.
And the I got to listen to political podcasts now.
Like no way.
Yeah, I'm shocked.
Yeah.
Actually, you know, very balanced ones, obviously.
Of course. No, they actually are.
It's the one who you ask.
And the funniest thing this week, she announced she was reducing VAT
for theme parks and kids meals, kids takeaway meals or something like that.
So it's just for the summer.
So she's basically saying, yeah, go out and spend money.
Either obviously trying to boost the economy.
Yeah. So reduction in the VAT that way.
That'll be good for, well, provided.
Well, there's two ways of looking at it.
Obviously, the lorry drivers and likes that are getting absolutely hammered as well,
which then falls onto us as a consumer, because everything gets passed along.
But whether it gets passed long or not depends on whether the lorry drivers
have been just skimming along and barely surviving, and this will actually help them
or if it gets passed down under just the duty of forgot about this, too,
because one of the farming and tech talks, a follower, he was chatting about it.
He I think it was just the red diesel duty by a third.
This was actually something I was going to bring up.
Yeah.
The whole red diesel thing with this stopped.
Anyone being able to use it outside of agriculture is ridiculous because
Korean, you know, anything that runs on red diesel in a quarry or
your fishing boats and things like that now has to run white and suddenly almost
like double in price for the cost to be able to run that.
But again, once again, gets passed on to us.
That was the most ridiculous thing is whether they're reducing it
because the price of red diesel, even for those people out there
on like myself, who would run red diesel, whoever chanced that.
Terrible people.
The less people.
Yes. Must be. You can't do that.
If the red petrol.
Should have had farm equipment all run on petrol.
Yeah.
The price difference in red diesel versus white is
phenomenal or like nothing.
I remember buying.
But it shows you what price the fuel sort of should be.
Yeah. Well, the I remember.
Exposes how much they're taking the piss out of us.
100 percent.
Like we were banned.
Now granted, it's 20 years ago.
What was it?
It was 20 p a liter for red.
Was it a pretty well ago?
Yeah. So it's maybe 20 odd years ago, but it was working out a bit.
A fifth of the price of clear.
Now the difference is only about a fifth.
That's it's four fifths of the price.
I think it's around a pound a liter for red.
Now it's at least.
Hey, yeah.
So if you were going to run red, it barely makes it worth it.
A while or years ago, the difference was phenomenal.
You've given not to run red.
Oh, yeah. Yeah.
People would point out in Laugh if you didn't.
Uh-huh.
My family.
Yeah. So the whole red diesel thing really I find really, really strange.
But it's actually good to see that they are doing something at least
to try and boost.
Motoring or the economy or both.
Yeah.
But they're still allowing Norwegian oil in while they'd restrict North Sea oil.
Could they reduce that's going to save the planet?
Could they reduce the road tax on Leeds are 32?
That would be nice.
Talking about road tax.
What does it say?
100?
Yep.
Seven 20 thing.
I think.
Mm hmm.
That's as much as a 2015 RS4.
Really?
Not that I've researched that.
Oh, OK.
So you hear.
Yeah.
What was I going to say?
Yeah, road tax.
I was driving down MLVW and.
The road from where I live in Comber out of Lisbon now is basically a mountain road.
Oh, I just falling apart.
They once fine.
And you get into the south and.
Basically get down to I think it's just basketball.
So belly on the turn right towards Emily V.
Oh, did you go cross country?
Ah, yeah.
Lovely roads.
I just showed you what proper.
Now, I'm sure there's people from the south who go, are my roads or shit?
But any road you want, they're absolutely fantastic.
That mean road.
Dragons tail.
Well, yeah, it's the twists and turns on this.
Absolutely class.
There's a couple of sections on it.
There's a few bad potholes, but all in that, it's pretty good compared.
As you say, like your road across the here is just absolutely trotious.
Just goes to show you what a corporation tax reduction
and a tax exile country state can do for your.
And corruption.
You forget my corruption.
Although we have pretty good.
We need more corruption in the north.
I was going to say.
Better roads.
I feel like we have a lot of corruption here.
They're just doing corruption wrong, it seems.
Yeah, it's a written article this morning.
Infrastructure Minister Liz.
Liz Simmons, Cummings, Sinn Féin.
No, no, no infrastructure minister.
She's the one I'll shout out because the potholes basically.
So there was a 2017 was 400000000 allocated
for the York gate flyover.
It's gone.
Just disappeared.
Just be nice.
No, that's spent.
No, so we're not getting the flyover.
So we're still going to have traffic lights
and motorway in the middle of Belfast.
I don't know what they spent on because it wasn't potholes.
Maybe it was making more potholes.
Maybe rather than fixing the.
Maybe they got confused.
We need to spend this in potholes
and the bottle of the potholes.
So in that cumbers, there is a road
closed the whole weekend this weekend.
They're resurfacing a quarter mile stretch of road and cumbers.
So what?
I think they're going to have an opening ceremony.
Just a celebrate.
They can't believe it.
Well, I was going to say what counsellor lives on that road.
It's actually nobody lives on the fire station link road.
That's maybe why then.
Yeah, I need the fire engine to be able to get out
to disappear in that pothole.
Quarter mile of fresh tarmac, you say?
It's on a bans the problem.
Anybody see anything about the 24 hour Nurburgring?
It was actually not wasn't on a MLBW.
I think the worst.
I definitely was a drift on.
Yeah, sorry.
So obviously Max was competing,
I know what you're going to do.
Which was the big thing and brought
record number of spectators, all this stuff.
And then he had was it a drive shaft failure?
Yeah.
And because he was in the lead, I think by like 40 seconds or something.
Yeah.
And then obviously didn't manage to finish.
But you know what did manage to finish?
He has to do.
What?
Was this the James May favourite car?
Would you talk to a car?
Dacia Logan.
There's so many memes going about this.
I hadn't seen this.
Number 300 car.
It's shown everything.
Yeah. Any media at all.
A Nurburgring.
They crashed.
They had penalties.
They were 71 laps down.
But they finished the race position 120.
Part of how many?
I don't know.
121.
But the main thing is the finished.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
He stole everybody's hearts.
Every time it came through the arena, everyone was
stand cheering.
They were cheering for them more than they were cheering for the race leaders.
And just Dacia back or was that a privateer?
I think it was a privateer too.
That's pretty cool.
But they had on the stickers in the car said Dacia versus Goliath.
And it was like it was all those other cars are like
GT cars and Porsches and whatever.
And this week, Dacia just doing its thing.
It's the best PR.
Dacia never.
I that's good.
Imagine worked.
So that was cool.
I like that.
Here might be Dacia Motorsports next year at Nurburgring.
Could be.
Motorsport wing will be opened up here.
Dacia do something in the Dakar.
Yeah.
That's what I was going to say.
I've done something.
They did well.
Imagine the cost of that car versus.
I would say that the entire cost of that car was probably less than the base car
of some of those other race cars that were up against.
Yeah.
Before they start modifying them for racing.
I wonder what engine was in it.
Because what would he get in the Dacia?
Like I assume they had to use whatever it comes with.
The puppy of 1500.
Well, what was the usual petrolyzer?
I unfortunately.
It was usual.
I that's their because they're Bulgarian,
Reynolds or something.
Yeah.
Probably two liter, 16 valve or something description.
So bring a trailer, something that I not a fan of.
But it does create for some controversy at times.
So known for weird and rare cars and stuff with three miles on it and stuff like that.
And for driving up the price of everybody else's ship boxes.
But an NSX went up recently with something like 6000 miles on it.
Did you see this?
No.
So.
But it means me think stuff going on where you 46 am three
looking at blues at the moment.
I yeah, it's definitely not money laundering at all.
Sorry.
6000 kilometers, 4200 miles on it.
Oh, five NSX T.
Yellow, yellow, rickaros like this was the spec everyone wanted.
And the bidding was going up and up and it got to 200 and 93
thousand dollars. Right.
So this was.
Yes. Sorry. I did hear about this just before the end.
And the hammer dropped at not 200 and 93000
300 and 94000 to which the seller then claimed or the buyer
then claimed that had been a typo and the amount is right.
200 and 94000 another thousand over what the previous bid was.
But the hammer dropped at a hundred and 100 and 1000 more.
Plus they'll have buyers commission of probably six percent, six to ten percent.
Oh, yeah.
In the auction house.
So another it'll be half a million.
So there's a bit of controversy around this as there'll be taxes and buyer fees.
So, yeah, that's now the debate is does the buyer
stump up another hundred grand by it or do they pull out and then that means
they're banned from bringing bring a trailer, which suppose they could probably
get someone else to bid for.
100 and 99 to be a way came about.
I was going to say, yeah, find somewhere else to buy my cars.
Yeah. So they will fat them.
It's probably sitting up on the phone.
This is why large purchases should be made on a laptop computer.
Not a phone.
I'm still of the like when I'm buying flights, I used to
when we do our flights for American stuff, I always did them on the laptop.
And the last two times I have done it on my phone and it does not feel right.
Yeah. Because big purchases should be made on big technology.
The phone version has less details or options sometimes.
So you can't see the full.
Yeah. It's on a breakdown.
Well, apparently the head of auctions determined that was a legitimate
mistake and was trying to work with the seller, basically, to either
reopen the bidding or negotiate with them.
And in the car was sold to someone else for 300 and 10000
So they got another thirty odd thousand on top of what it originally was.
There's a couple of NSX's.
One less burners.
There was one years ago.
The red one, you think of Mark?
I he's that's long gone.
That one. I remember.
And then there's a Chinese fellow has one as well.
The silver one. It's lovely.
That's the fella that used to bring the silver 911 the dub shed, the old one.
Yes, same guy. Yeah.
He's been on Euro traffic as well.
Yeah. He brought the band or not band.
I then the old 911
Yeah. I'd love her.
He has some really, really nice cars. Yeah.
I love NSX's.
The problem is when you look at them, I've never driven one.
But I imagine that probably feels slow because they're like 300 horsepower.
Yeah, which they look like they should be 500 horsepower.
But I think they're gorgeous looking car.
Like they've never having the age badly at all.
Yeah, I don't think I would give 300 and 94000 for it.
But perhaps not. Perhaps not.
Not in the budget yet.
Now it's looking for RS four. So my behavior.
Look, no one. Maybe not.
That is me out of news.
So before we move on, we'll have a word from our kind sponsor.
Yes, Ober.
These guys are proper vehicle enthusiasts who specialize in customization
and they really know their stuff when it comes down to it.
Well, they're after quality parts for your car, a remap to squeeze out a few extra horses
or factory quality upgrades to make life a little bit sweeter.
Things like heated seats, reversing cameras, trackers or even full van
fit outs over heavy covered that been part of the car community for well over 10
years now and their certified goes to mobilizer installers.
Was the big win for your security.
A mobilizer is that an extra layer of protection by preventing key cloning and really
theft, keeping your vehicle exactly where you left it and helping and reducing
insurance premiums to.
So if you're in the market for parts mapping, factory quality modifications
or serious vehicle security, check out Ober.co or find them on Instagram.
That's O I B R E dot C O.
And remember exclusively for real podcast.
And it's giving you 10 percent off all Max Gene maps when you mention the podcast.
And so big things to Marty at Ober.
Also speaking of Marty, we talked.
At length about his car, double shed.
Yeah, I believe he picked up best GTI.
He did.
And that's MLB as well.
Yeah.
So once again, proven that our sponsor is someone who will look after you.
You know, my car is talking about phenomenal.
I love that time there to look around it really well at MLB and just unbelievable car.
The work that's in that is ridiculous.
Yeah.
She had better and the way do you think on any car really?
But Mark six or Mark six is especially when it's full of canvas and the wire.
I remember seeing the wire and work that went into that and being like, mm hmm.
Yeah. Yeah.
It's fun.
So then.
YouTube.
Yeah, just a few that we're talking about.
Kyle Loftus from 1320s or 1320 video put a tribute video.
Thanks to the Tanner 50.
Yes, seen that.
And Clay does like quick or a short video.
Just remember and Kyle as well.
Abby Higgins, her Porsche build series video.
Did we mention it before?
Did I think we mentioned it before?
But yes, it's now finished.
I think it's finished.
I watched the final.
It's probably not the final video.
Like basically we've got a built video.
I think it's probably five or six videos of her.
She's very good in the camera and very technical in the details of the build
and all the rest of it.
We'll see her and the limitless guys are where to the number.
We're going to.
So I think that that car was meant to be debuted a dub ship.
It didn't quite make it.
OK, but it was up at MLBW Northwest 200.
Yes, the Kers Tires conjunction thing.
And yeah, I think they're all the way to
number bring all the limitless ones.
So I would doubt it's the last video on that car.
So that would be some trip.
Well, that guys.
I see they're all bringing their own cars over this year.
Because I was standing with the VW going.
I don't see anything.
You know, I'm a VW guy.
I didn't realize a day later.
Oh, they're going to the road.
We're going Thursday. That's why.
You know, what else?
Good fun video I watched was auto Alex.
I know everybody, not everybody likes auto Alex and some people love them.
But one of the videos came up in my algorithm was we bought a Bentley GT
Continental GT for four and a half grand.
We bought the cheapest
bit of a dog of a thing.
And these guys are hectic.
So could you imagine me basically going right?
I'm going to build our fix on our scrapper.
I don't know, Mark seven or something like that.
A week before dub shed.
Do dub shed and then travel to Eastern Europe on the Monday.
That's as busy with the deal with this.
So they bought a Bentley Continental GT for half grand.
Absolute dog of a thing.
Smoking, not run right.
All the rest of it.
They had their big show shed fest.
Ah, yeah.
So a week before the sort of tried to repair it.
Had shed fest on the Monday or Tuesday, they left for Casablanca.
Ah, the whole way down.
Cool.
Are they the W12 and them?
Yeah, two VR's put together.
So they're not going to be cheap for these parts.
So the fix it then extent to make it get there.
There's a lot of smoke coming out of that car towards the end.
Oh, on at the end of the trip.
Yeah, during and more towards the end.
The starting motor basically was packing in at the end.
And I think it was Alex and Rory flew home
and Taylor had to drive it home.
So that'll be the next video that comes out if we can get it home.
You would imagine at four and a half grand
that car is probably worth more breaking than it is to fix.
That's their whole ethos.
Oh, yeah.
They're heath, also, is by a heap of crap and keep it on the road.
You know, and they're making their money from YouTube.
So it doesn't really matter, obviously.
Yeah, taking four and a half grand chance
and something like that would be an interesting purchase.
It's chance is not that they're obviously
you know, they're going to get the money out of the couple of videos they do for it.
But as you say, there's breaking money on I somebody will give them four or five
grand for it anyway.
You know, that's interesting.
I seen I think it was them.
I walked into Richie's room when we were away
and he was watching them working on a loop.
I think it was like a three L, which is new.
The ball.
I must be an old one.
Maybe it was I have like all the
aluminium parts and stuff on them, but the three L's are a weird car.
It's like when Volkswagen actually did good stuff.
Little GTA is an RSI.
Yes, correct.
Actually, and the three L, like the whole thing was they wanted to do
a hundred kilometres with three litres of diesel and like right down to
like the steering wheels made of magnesium to try and keep things light.
And they're like, I'm asking folks, so I can do that now.
It's just not going to happen.
Yeah. It's like the R32 wingmers, the Mark four R32 wingmers
are marginally smaller than a standard Mark former to the point
where you wouldn't really notice.
So generic just subtle stuff now.
Yeah, doesn't really doesn't make any odds.
I think the last real push of any sort of
thing by Volkswagen was the club sport or the TCR.
They're just using the using the club sport name like a.
The way I do is a second media.
It's like a promotional thing almost like the 45 and the 50.
Yeah. What's you're not getting much extra in them
compared to what the Mark four era, even the Mark five year old, the Dyson 30,
the Dyson 30, to be honest, the Dyson 30 was.
Bodywork wise, engine wise, yes, they give you the engine, essentially.
But it was subtle, but it was a lazy subtle that could have done so much more.
I like it.
But there was stuff you want to why didn't you not put golf
or breaks on it?
Why didn't you not do that?
Do that?
Sorry, bigger breaks.
They've been having a go for it.
Dusty or the Mark four had bigger breaks.
You'd the lip kept around it.
Like the mark five only has the front lip.
And then the rest is the standard cat painted, isn't it?
A color coded side skirt, the different lower valances, front and rear.
But apart from that.
And said, you've got the seats, steering wheel, gear knob,
handbrake cable, handbrake cover and maybe different mats.
That's it. But nothing much.
It's more performance wise.
You're getting from it.
Yeah. Yeah.
So never the last great car.
I didn't put you off them anyway.
I'll say that.
Never will.
You mean?
No, I have no YouTubes.
I have a couple of mentions I would like to give.
Oh, I don't think we mentioned on the last one,
but I think we might have watched it before we recorded the last one.
I don't even know who knows life.
Donut are not done on any more speed with all these.
Their video on which is total lie.
The title of the video is an absolute lie.
I finished modifying my car.
Yeah, that is not true.
That that never happens.
No, no, I can still use the God.
Yeah, I finished my project car.
No, he didn't.
That's a thing as a finished project car.
It's a long time ago.
You watched the video.
It was good though.
Hummel mechanic.
I know I've been shouting about a lot recently,
but he dropped his.
Well, maybe the final video, maybe not.
I think there's still more to be done to the turbo or 32,
but he dropped it the day.
The day we were leaving for Helen.
And it was like an hour long video and I was like, fuck's sake, Charles,
I don't have time to watch an hour long video.
I have to go and catch a plane.
Ain't got time for this.
But then I got a spoiler when we arrived in Helen and the car was there.
And I was like, well, oh, he made it.
Spoiler alert.
But I actually got to meet him in chat to him again.
Middle America, is it?
One of the carliners.
North Carolina, I think.
Oh, he's not too far, though.
So it was awesome to see the car and got to chat to him again.
Didn't step on him this time.
So that was good.
And another, not YouTube, but if we called this the media section,
if anyone's seen the Devil Wears Prada 2, there's a lot of chat
about the death of print media.
And we were all big advocates for print media on this podcast.
Can't imagine too many of our demographic will have seen Devil Wears Prada 2,
but you never know.
I have.
I've seen Devil Wears Prada 1.
I have to say, decent film.
I watched the first one on the plane again, because it's.
It's a decent film.
It's one of my top films.
I love it.
But our very own favorite performance, VW.
Dub Shed article is in the current issue.
A very, very good Dub Shed article.
Expertly written.
Oh, thank you very much.
Because I wrote.
Great report.
So that was very exciting.
Slightly short notice, and I had to kind of pull it together quite quickly,
but it was fun.
It's the world of media, baby.
Pictures were hidden.
Yes, projectile, projectile.
Some fantastic photos as always.
So I knew on the last episode, obviously, that that it was happening,
but I didn't mention it.
I was kind of thinking because I had made a few mentions of people's cars
that we know in specific cars.
And I thought, I wonder if these people will read it and then notice that I wrote it
because everybody probably assumes that Connor did it.
And only like two people actually noticed unprompted so that it was me.
Sure, you showed it to Stefan.
She actually gave the magazine to Stefan.
And I was like, oh, the Dub Shed article.
And he read it and looked at me and went, did you write this?
My name's literally.
What a name.
So that was cool.
I suppose it's five and a half or six pages, which was still real good.
Yeah, very good.
And photos are awesome.
No, I don't have any YouTube's, I don't think.
I've watched nothing because we've been away.
Obviously.
Right.
If no more news, chat for a brief time about our.
Trips.
Yes, I went to MLVW.
So that was last weekend to take a rundown to Kilbegan.
And I will MLVW crew do their annual show down at American.
What would you call the place?
It's the American Car Owners Club of Ireland or something.
Just cross the road.
That's a Kilbegan race course.
Great event every year.
And I wouldn't know.
I wouldn't know.
America.
Yeah, great event.
Really, really nice cars.
Well, it didn't play ball, but it didn't dump in spurs too much.
Great hard work by all the guys.
Always put on a great show.
And I've said it before and say again, get to their show.
It is really, really good.
It's a great community show to.
And catch up with people, chat cars and great venue.
The camping aspect of it.
And then obviously how close knit the community is that attends it.
Always reminds me of like the early days of edition 38 on a much smaller scale.
Obviously, well, I didn't know how many people were camping,
but I was standing and talking to Stefan, who was camping.
And we had walked away down to look at the.
So they had a collection of American sort of fire trucks and stuff like this.
And out of the way, and there's this big field.
There's these two tents down at the bottom.
We were walking down there looking towards the sort of trucks
and stuff that we're sitting.
We're going on.
Wonder why these people are camped away down here, have the.
You know, parked or camped out of the road so it's quiet or whatever.
I went back in and was talking to Stefan, but no later.
And I says, well, they have two or three tents down there.
So now he's a lot whole field was filled with tents last night.
Aye, it was massive.
He said there was about a hundred tents.
I think it was boys brought car vans and campers.
They bring it.
And the potato bread boys were there in force with their motor homes.
Yes.
And Jack was his tent that was too small for him.
Did you see a picture of that?
I see.
I also believe his own brother, you just want that Jamie.
Oh, right.
Yeah, yeah.
With like three foot of him hanging out of it.
Yeah.
So yeah, it was not the tent for that man.
It was a good, good time.
It looked good.
Yeah.
As the weather aside, we haven't been in years now
because it keeps clashing with Helen and Paul and the rest of the team
will not change the dates first no matter much I ask them.
It's not on.
I think it's terrible not to change the date just for us.
Just for us.
You picked up a prize, I believe.
I did.
Was it top 15?
Top 15, I got so it'll be a close word.
Lovely.
We award.
Carlos show was the VR mark one, the red one.
Stop check.
Yeah.
Water up and.
Best known vague.
It was Clifford Olds car.
Connor brought it down.
Yes.
As E.
E 28 28.
E 21 is the three series.
E 28 is the fighter with the snitchers and stuff on it.
And the co-livers.
Mm hmm.
Marty got best GTI.
Vag boys cleaned up with a lot of prizes to very good.
So yeah.
Sherrod Donald Toll, who has a lovely set of wheels
and is Mark 5 GTi now.
I believe so.
Man just keeps going and going in that car.
So he told me that he bought those.
They're the same wheels around Gatham's car.
He was telling me about this too.
I was so mad.
So Gatham put his up for sale the day after he bought it.
I was like, I could have went and left of them.
So he's that car.
Hi, Sammy.
Photos that look good.
We saw spots for Mark 5 and others.
Superb looking.
What else was it going to say about the show?
Because I was keeping an eye on social media more away,
keeping an eye on sort of thing.
The obviously the weather.
Did you you didn't camp?
Did you?
Did you drive down for that?
Not at all.
No.
I drove down the Sunday morning.
Me and Andy drove down.
Handy run two and a half hours took us down.
Aye, that's perfect.
I hear there was plenty of pints the night before anyway.
The run out of Heineken I heard.
Oh, excellent.
Marty was very quiet.
I was talking to him Sunday morning for some reason.
I don't know what was wrong with him.
I think he was meditating or something.
Just didn't see the chat.
He's thinking of all the customers he had to serve.
Oh, right.
Mother Friday.
So he's just getting in the zone.
Not a hangover.
Yeah.
Some of these cars there.
Stefan brought the Caddy down.
Camping the back of it as well.
Absolutely.
Multi-purpose like a Swiss army knife had.
I opened the back Stefan's van the other day.
And all his tools were in it.
And I started to lift the tools out to work out my dad's van.
And the camp bed was still.
The blow up bed was still blown up.
Still the same.
And all the tools were on top.
Oh, Jeevers.
Treating them tools well.
Yeah.
Great show.
Well done to Paul and all the crew, Johnny and...
Hopefully they'll get back someday.
Yeah.
I always enjoy it.
Ask Paul Barney to move the data.
Move his?
Yeah.
I never know.
On the back of that show's coming up then.
We'll have Vadi or have an air show on the 14th of June.
Which is my wife's birthday.
Oh, nice.
Of course.
So I seriously doubt I will be there.
I was going to say Laura will love her day out.
I was going to say...
I'm going to take her shop on Cork.
Drop her off and go have fun.
To be fair, I think Laura would enjoy that.
Yeah, she probably would.
Not the five-hour drive down there.
No.
The Waterford Park and Chill Boys are there.
Show this weekend.
This weekend?
Yeah.
On the 14th.
DB Deleys was a couple of weeks before.
I know the one we missed because we were away.
Hi.
This was not been happening.
So Vadi or having an air show on the 14th of June.
It's the Watergrass Hill wrist circuit.
Correct.
Yeah.
Right there.
And always a great show.
And then we have Euro Treffen on the 4th of July.
Correct.
Independence Day.
Hopefully Will Smith doesn't turn up the Defenders
against the Alien Invasion.
I was going to say, I should have bought myself
like a full red, white and blue.
You were American print button-up shirt.
I thought you were on a totally different road there, Connor,
when you started saying red, white and blue.
I was going to say, I started thinking that.
I was like, what happened in America?
Connor, it's up and converted.
More importantly, how are we going to end here?
My cars and coffees on Friday.
That's right.
That's right.
We did talk about that in the last one as well.
So my cars and coffee is at, it's called Cumber's Car,
Cumber, Cars and Coffee.
It'll be the third or fourth year at Second Cumber
Presbyterian Church.
It is on Friday the 22nd of May.
And it's from 6.30 to 9.
29.
Sorry.
It's 22nd yesterday.
Yeah, I'm upside down.
World 29th of May.
Just delete that or edit it somehow.
And here, guess what?
The weather's booked.
There's a heat wave this week.
I'm actually just looking at the fears.
I don't know.
Goats were needed.
Every time.
I don't know how you do this, but you managed to do it.
So the buzz on that the weather looks pretty solid.
And when the weather's good, the folks turn up.
So get down there.
It's just a such a wide range of cars turn up.
It's really, really good.
It's given.
Not the blue one trumpet like, but it's.
Yeah, it's 17 degrees.
Given that they fantastic.
Maybe get the ice cream down.
Yeah, that works for me.
Yeah.
Good night.
I'd better crack it yourself with her and chicken shop
because the place you used to go to, what he called Herdberger,
it's gone.
How is it?
It's gone.
So smoke smoke to hydro and carried off as well.
So.
You have just thinking about your but here,
Presbyterian traybakes are there.
Yes.
Get the barbecue on night.
Come on.
Fuck.
I do too much crime when I do.
Farmer.
No.
I re gave my vision three days later.
Yeah. So that was the MLDW, a few dates for shows.
You guys went for a lovely trip to America as per usual.
We did indeed.
We went a day early this year
because we wanted to try and do obviously Richie always goes with us
and he's a big historic NASCAR fan.
So we wanted to do something in around Charlotte
because it is the home of NASCAR on the first day.
Yes. So we the first day we actually flew in and we just kind of
the time we got in and out of the airport, it was four o'clock.
So we day was near done.
Yeah.
Gathered up the shitty hire car and
basically went to our hotel, grab food and tried to stay up as long as we could.
Lee took us to this bar
slash restaurant like a sports bar that tried to be a biker bar that was kind
of like Hooters and it was a Monday night.
And what I said was definitely Monday night is the starter club for the girls.
Yeah.
It's the brand of ship scheme in the Monday night is what you're saying.
There was a girl who served us.
Who was very nice was wearing body glitter, which I haven't seen from I was 13.
And there was another girl who looked like I had killed the girl that served us.
And what did you think of all this carry on?
I was fine.
Ground.
Your mom was with lovely food.
The food was actually really nice.
I think somebody is a scriber for Playboy going the articles.
I read it for the articles.
Honestly, the food was the best part of it.
I was exhausted at that point.
I was so tired then when we left, I said, I need to get back to the hotel.
I'm fucked and Richie hadn't brought any toiletries.
So I had to drive him to Walmart or something.
And they said that I was so tired on the way back that I was slurring my words
when I was talking and I don't remember the drive.
Excellent.
So thankfully, as I say, two weeks in Germany, driving left hand drive,
definitely paid off there because I was an autopilot.
You didn't go to it back for onion?
No, we didn't.
We did go past it, but we didn't go there.
We tried to go to Texas Roadhouse, but we couldn't get in.
It was too busy.
All right.
And in the next day, then we started to do some car stuff.
So we went to Hendricks, which is the big NASCAR team.
They have a museum and of course it's shot.
So it's shot for renovation.
So we went to the gift shop, which sounds silly, but the gift shop was like a museum
that had loads of like the obviously all the trophies and stuff sitting around.
And you walk in and there's the two
one or two year old kind of NASCAR cars, race cars sitting.
The walls are lined with old race suits and helmets and the sponsors.
And it's quite funny seeing like some of the sponsors because you've got like
Spider-Man 2 and the Dark Knight Rises and stuff that you wouldn't see in like F1.
I remember seeing NASCARs.
There probably still are US Army sponsor.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You could probably tell you who is sponsored by them, but yeah.
That's sort of demographic.
And then.
What's quite cool, you could actually walk up and see into one of their workshops
where they're assembling the cars.
And there was maybe what 13 or 14 cars being built and every bay has its own set of tools.
It was just like clinical looking, which is quite cool.
Bought a few bits and pieces there.
Then we walked around the bar.
Sorry, we drove around the site.
We're seeing the pit crew guys training.
They're right.
You know, like an outdoor gym kind of thing because we've seen them.
We're like, what's that there?
And then we kind of went, oh, no, hang on.
That's the pit guys doing their fitness training.
And then we headed over to Charlotte Motor Speedway, which was what?
Less than a mile from where we're standing.
So we didn't really have a plan.
We just wanted to go and see it on the scale of it was fucking huge.
And we're just like, this is mental.
And then.
Again, we decided just to walk in.
So went into the gift shop, went around there.
And then I don't know if it was your rich.
He realized he could do a tour of the infield in the Kavan.
I had looked at the tours before we left, but the calendar that was online,
they didn't have any tours on the day that we were supposed to be there.
And then, but when we actually got there and then you looked.
Then there was tours available.
So we did that.
So we didn't really know what to expect.
So paid for it anyway.
Went downstairs and waited a bit and bounced into the van with like
what five or six other people kind of thing.
And your guy took us out and the tour was fantastic.
It was like 45 minutes long.
Took us over. I didn't realize, but.
The it's not just the motor speed where they have the drag strip.
So he took us over to the drag strip and explained everything about it.
And then we're all like your marker points are.
And then he couldn't get on to the drag strip.
So the van was like a Chevy,
like it looks like a panel van that converted with seats and with some sort
of V8 in it. And then he lined up alongside the drag strip where they
would probably return the cars back down and he ran the drag strip in the van.
And was like, oh, by this point, you would be doing this by this point,
you know, took us down to the far end, which shows you like the gravel drop,
which is like a foot and a half deep of P gravel and the nets in behind it.
And really in depth.
Good interactive sort of tour.
Yeah. Older guy was doing it and he obviously is race at some point
because he's worked there for a lifetime because he was telling you about
like people he had met and what happens here.
Like they were talking to one point they'd done like a.
It was like a freestyle motocross event and they hadn't enough
seating for what they wanted the crowd capacity.
So obviously all the grandstands around the start of the drag strip,
that would have been perfect, but there's a drag strip there.
So that about what did they buried in like?
And buried it like six foot deep in dirt dirt and built the whole thing on it.
And then two days later had to be ready again for drag racing.
Had to clear everything again.
So this is the big mounds of dirt sitting and took us over to the dirt oval.
I was talking about it and he was explaining like,
I think out of all the NASCAR drivers, there's only one or two of them
who don't live within 40 miles of that circuit because that's where they all
come to train and anything that's a big racer, they can stay at home,
rolling, having to stay at an RV or anything and just drive to the circuit.
That reminds me of the top gear where Clarkson was standing top of a hill
and he was looking out over the countryside where Alpine McLaren all this
is within 30 miles. They're all here. Yeah.
Aye. And you kind of forget that.
Yeah. Because like when we were over there for Alpine, you're like,
there's so much in that area.
But then like the Alpine factory is built in an old quarry, isn't it?
So it's like you wouldn't even know it's there.
Like Dr. Evil's layer down the back there.
Remember, it was weird just because he was driving along.
You would drive past that and you wouldn't even know it's there.
So hadn't.
So that was fine.
He's driving around explaining everything.
And then he says, right, we'll go over to the main circuit
and he drops in through all the tunnel and yeah.
Come in at the infield and he's explaining everything as you're going around.
And we got up to where like basically where the pit would come into.
Yeah. And he says, oh, I'm going to try something here, but I can't promise
anything, hang on.
And he was explaining that forward rent, because obviously it's such a big facility,
they need to have something there every day or most days to be penned for itself.
So forward rent the circuit most of the year for development testing for four
performance and they were there that day.
And he says, hang on.
And he read it through and he heard him and he was like permission to come
onto the track, which wasn't part of the tour.
And they were like, yeah, we're downtime going ahead.
So he took us for a lap of the track in the van.
So I expected he would go out and drive around 30, 40 miles an hour.
No, he absolutely gave her a taxi.
Like whatever was in that van, he got it out of it.
And then a common was like the third corner at the top of the bank.
He just onto the brakes and stopped and was sitting.
So I was lying sideways and I see, but like as he says,
he says, people say you can't stop on the bank and but you can watch this.
And I was like, holy fuck.
And then he took off again and it was set up for what they call a rooval,
which is instead of the full oval that come into part of it,
comes into the infield for almost like a rude circuit part.
And he came into that.
I don't know what speed he was doing and was hard on the brakes.
To the point where I was like, he's not making this.
He's going to wipe out these cones and come in through the cones.
They're going to take you in this van.
I was like, this boy clearly has race before they can tell.
Fantastic.
The Coca Cola 600 is this weekend as we're recording.
And they were setting up for it as well.
So he brought us down into like the winter circle where they go
and get all the photos and the prizes over, took photos of us there.
And they were unveiling a Coca Cola machine for the Coca Cola 600
because they're bringing America's advertising.
And when they were taking, like there was no celebrities or anything.
But when they were just waiting, the fucking Coca Cola machine
and that of a photographer, the photograph that being set into place.
And it's like every detail.
Yeah. Mm hmm.
We're saying as well, there's like apartments that overlook.
Yeah. People live in them all year.
We looked them up.
There were like half a million, which I thought would have been probably more.
But yeah, very, very interesting.
And the whole thing was say, 45 minutes.
The whole thing cost $15.
As for nothing.
That's in America, the way America's mental price wise.
Yeah. No, it was really, really worth doing.
So as I say, like I'm not a NASCAR fan or know nothing about it really.
But it was very, very interesting.
Then what do we do?
We bounce in the road and we called him a John Hanna.
Once again, John has bought himself a new two rig in the form of a late 90s.
3500 Chevy Julie that he has lowered on the 22 inch or 22 and a half inch.
I'll cause you get on lorries here.
Yeah. The Paulist aluminium wheels.
They're machined down the machine.
They interlip down to 22 inch instead of 22 and a half.
And then put road tires on them and he is a low profile slammed and that.
And that's his two vehicle.
It is unbelievable.
Yeah, we're with him and Anne for a couple of hours.
Yeah. And then we moved on headed down.
So it's great to see them guys.
Because we were actually standing on the stripping hell in one night.
And next thing they say and roll through and everybody was like, holy shit.
Look at this. We're like, oh, that's John.
That's John.
He had Anne's beetle on the back on the trailer as well.
Yeah. So we were in Helen for Wednesday morning,
sort of late Wednesday morning and headed straight to Big Daddy's.
We didn't see anybody about that we knew and the house wasn't available until
that afternoon. So we went to Big Daddy's and you and Ritty
wanted a couple of cocktails, which weren't available in the end.
The banana collage.
We were on the horsey bar.
We were. Yeah.
Nice. Nice.
So.
And then within 10 or 15 minutes of being there,
Donnie and Erica arrived.
The journey.
Heather and Errol arrived.
The Jeremy's arrived.
Suddenly, all of us were in Big Daddy's
with like less than an hour.
So a few pounds food headed around to the house.
And then we were planning to do a whole lot of meats or whatever on Wednesday
and we didn't do any of them.
No, we just hung out of the house.
Then go to the salary.
We tried to, but it was so busy we couldn't get parked at it.
That was the problem.
Well, you went up to it, but we couldn't.
Yeah. And it was rumoured of it being busy
and then we didn't have a Volkswagen.
So we obviously weren't going to get him.
But even if you had, like they were turning people away, it was that busy at it.
And there's no car in the room.
No. And there's a fire station right opposite.
And Paul went over to speak to them to be like, could we do overflow parking here?
And they're like, no, we seen them.
So we just headed back in the town and
because last year there was this big gravel area to the left.
So there must have been a lot of meat.
I was on a lot of cars at it.
And it's a really, really popular meat.
No Mexican food. No Mexican food, unfortunately.
No Mexican food. No banana coladas.
Bad times.
Trip ruined.
That was a holiday ruined.
The whiskey was unreal.
So you got the baddies.
We did. Of course.
How did you get the baddies?
Baddies breakfast several times.
We had to take money from the baddies.
I had class.
I'm a usual when I do bacon.
Cheese. I have bacon, cheese, spinach, croissant.
Very nice. Very good.
Cheese croissant and mimosa on the porch of baddies.
That's holiday.
At half nine in the morning.
So when we got to the house, then eventually in the Wednesday,
we got to see Heather's Mark two for the first time.
Unbelievable.
Incredible car, like properly incredible.
And then
Earl built the Mark one that he bought off Ram Billman,
which was the next show car from 20 years ago.
And he only live on our two way.
Yeah, they're like 90 minutes away.
So he trailers the Mark one up and she drove the Mark two up.
The work he has done in that bed,
I send you the pictures of the Mark one.
The white one is incredible.
Both those cars are unbelievable.
So she, I, she has two people.
So I'll say it. She got herself PVW feature.
So Sam Dobbins shot it in Helen, which is Dobbins.
Yeah. Which I was like, Sam Dobbins shooting it will be amazing.
It's in Helen with his class.
And then he took her and Earl both up and did rollers of the cars
in the mountains for it as well.
I was like, that's the job.
Couple of goals.
I was like, that's class.
So Thursday then we hit the Porsche meat was the first one after going to beddies.
Yeah. And the Porsche meat amazes me
because yes, you'll see more of them than you usually would at a car show.
Obviously, because they're all going to it.
But the amount of heavily modified Porsches in America versus here.
That's what struck me.
Yeah. And it's obviously a money thing to you go to Porsche meat here.
There's a Porsche.
What's done to it?
Yeah. Stunt it.
Yeah. I think maybe a set of I back springs or it's rare that you see a heavily modified one.
Last year, my favorite meat was probably the Mark two made a meat.
Right. You know, without a doubt.
Porsche won amaze me as you say the amount of modifications.
Everything sort of took me back.
Remember, Joey from Friends, Matt LeBlanc was on top gear.
Yeah. And he's basically what's the point of having your car standard?
It's just the same as everybody else.
And that's exactly that's a thing throughout automotive or cars in America,
not just the modified scene.
There is a everybody wants a different you know, identify with it sort of thing.
Make it your own.
This year, there was a lot of Porsches on chapwills.
But like this was one of my 37 favorite cars from the whole weekend.
Was this.
997
I have no idea what's on advance.
Looks fucking class.
99997
I know.
Porsches. Yes.
On the three spoke advance.
Yeah.
There was so many cars like that with like and it wasn't just big money wheels.
It was suspension body mods.
John Hansen.
I don't think John was there last year.
Was he he is a black nine and seven.
There's only RWBs there.
There was one.
Yeah, there was one.
There was one.
I'm pretty I don't even know if it was at the Porsche me,
but it definitely seen a driving around because it definitely can pass on the strip at one point.
Yeah.
But the standard of cars at that Porsche meet is just incredible.
Like there was a silver.
I don't know if I sent a picture of it in.
It was a silver like rest or modded.
What's the one before a nine and four like a 930 shape 994 or sorry 964
I'd be classic 911
Yeah, there was one of those in silver with like it was definitely rest or
modded because it looked like I had like a front lip and stuff on it.
Like a lost style.
Lots of yeah.
And it was a turbo with features and stuff on it.
Right.
I was absolutely incredible.
Um, no, the the cars at the Porsche meet.
We're just it's just another world that I'm so far removed from.
But you're walking through him.
But like this is not and stuff that the big jacked up cayenne stuff.
Yeah, that was the other thing is the opposite end of the scale is the cayenne
and things are just next time you're talking down the Maxwell.
Keep pushing them about that.
About left one.
Okay.
Why talking about.
And I can just keep nudging them like lifted.
Cays with a big off road wheels and tires and things like that is such a nice
look, but there's.
10 15 of them enough that they had their own meat like an off road and meat.
Like that's so common over there.
Something that baddies last year and three or four of them.
Yeah, it's so, so common.
Um, apparently the older ones, I don't know what they're like here, but
the older ones over there are so, so cheap.
So that's why a lot of people are doing them.
Next one we did was yours and chill, which is like a generic meat.
Um, that's a Euro crew guys run.
Uh, then we went to the mark two and the mark four meat, which is at the same time.
We're reform half their meat.
Did a yes, the sausage, they had it and they had another one they did, which was
like a pet shop put really early in the week.
One of the golf things where you could win prizes and stuff.
I think they'll be trading with last year, but just Ram.
Yes, it's down the pink pig.
Yeah.
The barbecue pot and the crossroads.
Um, mark two.
Was great as always.
Like that's a whole scoot.
The mark for me.
I loved because Greg, I, a KS sweeps with the brown mark for it was down with
the shea of Ben the 24 valve.
And I've wanted to see that car for like 15 years.
It was like, yeah.
No, the one to take the box is like seeing bands.
It didn't get to see when you're younger.
Um, meet your heroes.
Hi.
I was lovely car.
It was so nice.
Yeah.
The Friday them as a pre-2k meat.
We always help the guys with same location, but further back in the parking lot,
which was a much better parking lot for it.
I was like trees around and stuff.
It was just a nicer backdrop.
It went from being like new way.
Casa Welland was a car park and Euro traffic and has like the background scenery.
It was more like that kind of feel like there was a good difference to it.
It fell far better.
And then with the mark three meat just after that.
Um, some, I hate mark three estates.
Like I hate them with a passion.
I actually said to someone, I was like, you know, the wood chipper that they feed
all the pay to files into, I would stop the line of pay to files and put a mark
three estate in before them.
I hate them.
They're around.
You don't like her or what?
I don't know what it is about them.
I just.
And the thing is I don't hate estates like CRS fours and even F four estates.
I think they're class.
Um, I just don't like mark three estates.
The only thing they're good for is because they've got the tall back lights.
If you cut them down into a pickup, the perfect shape and back lights and stuff.
I got, then you're into a whole different world of modification there.
Um, we've seen over the years, a couple of mark threes and fours with like the
Smith kits made into pickups.
And this year there was, was it like an A four?
There was an F four.
Yeah.
Or maybe an S four.
Yeah.
Like a B six.
I'm gonna pick up.
It was cool.
But the, there's only two more.
Well, now there's only two mark three estates.
Second thing I like was John Hannah's blue one.
I don't know if you've ever seen it with a 3.6 in it.
It was a full on show car.
Like a eight were cars and stuff on it.
Um, and then this was a JAP import in flash red with like just nice set of seats.
Maybe on our ride with nice set of wheels, but really well presented.
And I had a lip.
Like I was up, kept the stuff on them to remember the red mark three you liked last year.
Oh yeah.
Yes.
The four door one.
I think of that, but slightly longer.
It was almost that exact same car.
And it was so nice to the point where the guys were asking
us for advice or less looks.
Um, we're asking us for advice at the pre-DK.
I like, you know, what do you like?
And it was like killing me to say it, but it was like this.
This is the one.
So we cut the mark three meat short.
I went out to Yonah burger, which I don't think you got to last year.
Um, which is a wee shack that sells burgers, which is absolutely class.
And then we went to the master's meat, which is like an invite only meat.
So they gave you like stickers and other meats to be invented to this one.
So it's all very high end stuff, which was really good.
And then.
So the last couple of years we haven't gone to the master's meat.
I think, A, because none of our friends had got their cars into it.
And B, the last few years it's been up a big hill.
And it's hot.
You can't park at it unless you're part of the meat.
So you'd have to park in town and walk up this hill.
And I was just like, no, I'm not doing up.
I refuse.
But this year it wasn't up the big hill.
So it was fine.
We had the mark five meat with us last year.
Slaco had the silver one with the she of Bay with the tail bits and stuff on it.
Where that was is where the master's meat was.
And right beside it, there's now a new distillery opened.
So we were so Heather's car was at the master's mate.
That was one of the other reasons why we wanted to go.
And she just appeared out of nowhere and was like, come in here, come in here.
And I was like, what's the fuck's going on and dragged us into this
distillery for a tasting session.
I was pretty hammered.
We drank a lot of whiskey.
I don't even like whiskey.
And then anything that Lee didn't drink, I had it as well.
You were the Hoover.
Oh, I was like, yeah.
To the point where I nearly bought three cars off an old man.
Excellent.
This boy appeared in and was just looked like a local and stood beside me at the bar.
And he was the bar guy was like, you know, do you want to join in?
He was like, no, I'm here for the five o'clock free crack giveaway.
I don't know what he was there for, but it was he was there for something
that was very time specific.
So he got talking to us and he goes, he's here for the Volkswagen show.
And I says, yeah, we are.
And he says, oh, I've got some Volkswagen's I want to sell.
And I was like, talk to me.
And he goes, talk to me, moral man.
He says, I've got.
What was an 82 rabbit?
So it was a Mark one and two Mark one pickups.
And he was like, I only want he says I want seven grand for the whole lot.
But I think I'm asking too much.
And I was like, well, it sounds like it.
I show my photos of these.
I was like, I could buy these three trucks and ship something home.
But it turned out they looked fairly presentable.
And then in Helen, in Helen.
And he was he lived like half an hour away or something.
It's a really weird place for him to drive to.
But then that's a dry county.
So maybe that's the only way he could drink.
But it turned out two of the trucks.
Sorry, one of the trucks to them had no engines, but the engines were there.
They just weren't installed, which made that more difficult.
And one of them had rusted the stock tires and I was like, oh, that's not good.
One of them was a sport truck, which is pretty rare.
But it had been painted over, which then fucked that.
What you're telling me is you need to do a mad armstrong
and buy a property in America to keep your new fleet.
Well, that's what I said.
There were three of us there and three cars.
And we could have had three cars for the next time we came back.
But two of them didn't have engines.
Well, the engines were there.
Well, they were.
But yes, that was.
I know a man who, if you said here,
stick his engines in for us before we come back, would you?
But he would do it.
I know quite a few of them.
So that was the last week we did that day.
And then we ended up in town that night, just hanging out with everybody,
which is just great as always.
And Saturday was the show day as always.
Don't envy anybody trying to judge that because the standard.
Yeah, I remember working around the field last year, just going.
It's it's all topped here.
And you're already off to a bad start because
these cars are the best of the meat.
So you're ready, Cherry picked the best of the cars to then put them all together
to go, what's the best of these?
Now, you'll always get stuff that slips through
because the best of the SUV meat
is probably not going to be to the standard of the best of the more to meet.
But there's something for everyone.
It's a good system because you end up with something on that show field
for everybody there.
And then we just toured around and done our usual shopping and
Rotiform had a center that did a petition put competition
at the show.
So they always have something going on where you can win wheels and things.
But this time, rather than being like a ring toss,
the had when we walked on to the show field to the right hand side,
there was a whole lot of Porsches there last year.
To the right hand side, there's like, looks like a swamp nearly.
And it's all green algae.
It looks like you fell in that you just not come on back.
It's the forbidden soup.
It is. You do not drink that soup.
And but that floated out.
They got like, I don't know, it was like
fake turf or astro turf or whatever onto like a blow up raft
and floated this out into the middle of it with a flag.
And you had to pitch out onto the golfing.
And that was how you won your wheels and things like that.
And they had another one where it was like, it looked to be like a treasure hunt.
Or a golf game. No. No. No.
Maybe that's the Instagram story I sing in the golf club.
Pause. Even he could have been fucking around with it.
He's more likely to shot the flag.
But there was another one then where you had like,
find certain things to win a set of wheels.
And one of the things you define was out on this wee island
and some boy wailed it out across this soup
and lifted it and came back.
And I mean, he was in his neck.
I looked them up, Florida.
It was like, of course. Florida man strikes again.
Yeah. He would like, I'll be fine.
There's no gators in there. Makes sense.
Just a bath for that, man. Makes sense.
So yeah, that was the end of it.
It's as always, then we did our usual walk around the town
on the Saturday on the Sunday and then we met Paul Barney for dinner
and Sunday night and the whole recap of the show and.
He had enough.
I was a happy man and the work to do is phenomenal.
Like he was there.
I think by the time he leaves, he's there nearly two weeks,
which is nuts because that's his.
He's a full time job outside of that.
Like, so yeah, he's a busy, busy man.
Them, their team do a lot of, a lot of good work.
He's surrounded himself with a decent team, which helps as well.
Like it's, but it's not easy.
The poor man just he didn't seem as busted.
Remember last year when we were with him, he was so tired.
He didn't seem. No, he was good here this year.
That's good. So it was always good catching up on this.
And he stays in the same place
in the last night that we do as well.
So he brings this year.
No, not of his own. No, no.
I see him driving something.
Golf car, probably.
I thought I saw him driving a nice week car.
I don't know.
Don't know.
A picture of him in the car.
Maybe he's just sitting on it.
Somebody dug up a snuff possibly
because his is Mark one still been built
and as Mark two has no engine in it.
I think that's the reason he doesn't have the mark six anymore.
No, the mark six is long gone.
Yeah. But yeah, absolutely fantastic time as always.
Whether play a ball, 23 to 25 degrees nice.
Hard to be. Yeah.
And now we're home to reality.
Yeah. Home to hate.
We have fucking still in the land of milk and holy.
It's all good. And oh, that's right.
The Brexit sort of that. I don't forget about that.
It's all good.
Futures never look brighter.
Yeah. So it was good to see everybody.
The thing is, there's not many people now.
You never get hanging out with everybody
that you want to or for as long.
So I'm a missed loads of people,
but the crack was absolutely class like it's a get to it.
Folks, I don't think I think I bought a six pack of beer.
And I think that's what I drank the whole time.
I was just didn't care for the whiskey.
Parfum, the whiskey. Yeah.
Shout out to Westie.
And is burnt sugar bourbon.
She doesn't drink bourbon at all.
And the entire time we've been together,
she's never drank bourbon until was their cocktail is.
Cocktails made in the house again.
No, it was the.
Do you remember the must have been?
No, it was two years ago.
You were there last year.
There's whiskey sores.
Darling had brought this burnt sugar bourbon and we all tried it.
And I used to drink bourbon like many, many years ago.
And then I drank too much and was sick.
And then I didn't like bourbon anymore.
And so I've never drank it since.
And I tried this and I was like, oh, that's quite nice.
And I have thought about that bourbon for two years.
Like I can taste it.
I was like, hmm, I need to get me some of this.
So a text down a couple of weeks ago.
And I was like, you better be bringing some of this bourbon again
because I've been thinking about it for two years.
And he did and it was delicious.
And she was like, what if I get this and it's shite?
You know, I was like, what if I built it up in my head
and I don't actually like it anymore?
I was already drunk when I drunk this and that's maybe why I liked it.
So I had an apple, apple moonshine.
It was nice to think it was Erica handed me one
of the portraits around and we went out and I was like, what's this?
And I smelled it.
I got smells like apple tart.
It was unbelievable.
That's the Americans do their their potching.
Well, yeah, very well.
OK, let's move on to some lovely questions from the listeners.
Excellent. Thank you again for a few questions.
See what we have.
First and then the sponsor himself,
Marty Oberdokko says, are we getting a podcast
from Euro Treffen this year?
See, looking to come back on.
He did his Euro Treffen.
Very difficult to record.
It's very difficult.
We tried because you get the cars in the morning
and then when you meet you in stage, it's difficult.
It's not going to happen.
If Marty wants to do a podcast, will you give him the gear?
Here we give him the gear.
He can host the podcast.
Yes, host. Yes.
There we go. Well, we'll arrange that one.
Thanks for offering, Marty.
Appreciate that.
I could actually.
VDW, VWDunner underscore DB Diles says.
12000 kilometres to where to where they see discuss.
Would your car make it?
12000
1200 surely.
No, that's what it is.
It's a picture.
It's the do you remember the Chinese mark to do that?
I don't know if my car would make it twelve.
My car will probably make it.
I don't know if I would make it.
The mind-numbing boredom of drive down road for 12000
12000 kilometres.
Seeing this is what about 8000 mile?
Yeah, what's going on?
I was going to say, you'd have to stop and service your car along the way.
I was going to say, I might actually force me to serve it.
I club sort of make it.
Just need to change oil. You'd be fine.
Yeah, boring.
The I generally think my mark two would make it.
Yeah, I don't think there's nothing really shipboxy about it.
The Bora probably wouldn't have met it.
No, no, I don't need a few kilometres left.
That's a day die.
No, what's not done?
Michael Skull and understours says,
have you ever recorded a podcast where you thought that was terrible
and it turned out to be a hit many times?
Many, every podcast, every time.
I can't think of any specific ones.
We've been quite lucky with guests.
There's been nobody.
There's ones where you sort of go, we don't have a lot to talk about.
And we're just waffle for our and you get feedback.
And then people are like, oh, that's the ones I enjoy.
And I'm like, why am I putting effort into any of the rest of this, you fuckers?
It's not research topics anymore.
I know that's it.
Sean Barre, six, 50 says, if you were to buy a pickup, what would you buy?
I would like a big Viet Yut from Australia.
Oh, one of the holding the type ones.
Something Japanese.
I would definitely be if it's like something you can buy here,
probably a Hilux, if it was bringing something in from somewhere.
Probably a tundra, which is the modern Hilux.
They are doses. Oh, really?
Oh, my goodness. With a sharp front end.
We have a few in work there for the last few years that brought in.
Oh, jeez.
See, this is what I maintain.
All new cars are shit. Yeah, absolutely.
It's we went from three
episodes ago going art or modern cars too good to all modern cars.
I was talking about it earlier on.
DSGs have always been an issue.
Ever. There was a thing.
It was 07 and we had Mark V.
There was an issue with DSGs, right?
The sort of the go to them.
Then you have to service them regularly.
The DSG system, Haltex, otherwise you're going to it's going to shit the bed.
Now, this latest, you know, talking five years ago, DSG,
there's failures in them.
Oh, 20 years have they not sorted this shit out.
Hi.
I am.
You would imagine that's not an emissions thing that they're trying to get around
because it's gearbox.
They basically recognize there's a fault and just went.
Cost analysis.
Yeah, go ahead.
Well, it will withstand the warranty period.
Correct. There you go.
Go to my answer.
GMC Denali.
I like those.
Yeah.
They're well, they're a big thing for here.
Yeah.
I don't think it would come through our gates.
Now we have to take the post.
Still saw it.
I can nearly get to your.
My superb sometimes struggles coming through the gates.
So it's at night time when you're trying to get out, reverse and only start.
It's a disaster.
They'll get ripped out someday.
We sensulate there would be good, even a battery one.
Yes, we still saw it also.
Oh, that's true.
Take that big sledge.
That straightened the part of the driveway up.
No Iran 07 says bottom mark five GTI at 19.
What mods would you recommend?
First one map map and take freeze up 15 break.
Oh, really?
Yeah, it's restrictive intake.
Is that the is it those that has the intake as part of the engine cover?
Airbox, there you go.
Freeze up 10 15 break the air box.
Well, the one that Richie bought off you.
What was done to that?
A map and the car.
So we've talked about the intake map intake,
res delete, and that was a solid sharp car.
Yeah, like that's a great driving car.
And I would say that's probably 240 to fifty break.
Yeah, that's what I think that's what Richie sort of estimated.
And what are you talking chassis wise?
Like, do you the springs good enough in them?
Springs are the black one.
It just springs. I know it's lovely.
Yeah, that's kind of as long as the shocks are working order.
What I'm thinking is no is in the south in these nineteen.
So insurance and NCT are probably going to try and hammer them.
So if you're doing springs is probably more realistic than coilovers.
Yeah, good springs versus shit coilovers go for good springs.
Good springs, two bills, something like that.
Modes I would recommend for Mark five.
Oh, here we go. The woodchipper bolt to handles on chair,
throwing the skip by a good car.
Talking about excellent built cars.
Chris Will's he selling his track car.
Seeing that the white one.
That's a lot of car, car.
That's a lot of history with that as well.
You can see you look back on. Yeah.
I seen it and it was like that cars had a lot of abuse.
Obviously, we didn't track days, but it's obviously a very good car.
How a full respray, a full engine build.
It's 300 and sixty odd break.
I think the box was done as well.
Yeah. I sold my gearbox.
But yeah, that's right.
It's got a definite.
It's just I think there's fifteen or twenty grand through that car.
It wouldn't shock me like it's a it's a well spec car.
Yeah, so check out that.
I think it's an RMS for sale.
What is that up for?
Seven ish.
Fuck that's yeah, that's good.
Yeah.
What good GTA is going to cost you for?
Easily. Fuck easily. Yeah.
You can buy doses for two.
Aye, there's a lot of doses.
There's more doses than there is good cars now.
The windows become popular for an engine swap.
You'll know all the doses will just disappear.
Yeah.
The problem is they're a little bit more.
You can do them with a little bit more complicated than a 20 valve.
And for the advantage you get over 20 valve isn't really much
in an older chassis, so they're not really popular.
Ryan Cutlip says Nigel does a fine pint of Pentagon.
Did he call him with you today?
He did. Nice.
Just so good he had another one.
I was going to say a single pint, obviously not then.
David underscore Jack underscore Hill, the tent man himself says.
He wore a tent.
He just like a teacher.
Anyone have a 24 valve VR land around with a box
that's also that also likes 1.8 turbos.
I've been interested in doing a deal.
I feel like this is aimed at me.
You wouldn't have a 21.
You don't like 1.8 turbos.
We've established this.
That's half the battle there.
I do have a 20 or 24 valve, but it's not for sale.
Mine.
You have to.
I was going to say I was trying to think.
Neither of them are for sale.
I was trying to add that up.
I do have two, don't I?
Yeah.
Aye.
Sunday day photography says can bad cup holders ruin
an otherwise good car?
Volkswagen usually get it right to be fair.
Yes.
Because.
Everything now is drive thru and stuff and you do stop
or you want to drink on the road.
Volkswagen.
Well, in the UK anyway, in Europe, the.
The Americans got them before we did, but like in the mark threes,
there was no cup holders and then suddenly in the mark fours.
There was this snazzy cup holders that popped out and turned around
and flipped about the two thousands were in the era where
were cup holders couldn't just hold cups.
They had to do gymnastics like the polos.
He hit the button on the dash and it clipped out and then you could put
a liter glass, a liter bottle of magners into it and snap it shut.
Ask me how I know.
The best cup holders for stealth and quality are in 99
Well, modern courses are almost like strips in the line of the dash.
And they just go, yeah, they're nice.
So a transformer just the wet works.
Yeah, the vibe group of this real weird obsession with making
cup holders, said to gymnastics stunts before just before the whole year cup.
And then when they get full of sticky juice, they don't work anymore.
It's always half the bottle.
The Marks, I only think was designed bearing and with a DSG in mind
because the cup, there's your there's your gear stick
and it's immediately behind it.
Oh, yeah.
So if you're a manual, it's just always in the way.
So obviously they went DSG, screw manual.
We need to space for a couple of years.
That's a good point, actually, because a lot of the American cars
all have the drinks, basically, where your arm rest is,
which is right behind if you had a manual box, you just smacking into it.
Yeah. That's a very good point.
And the R, I don't mind it, but in the club's word, you really notice it.
And then the last one we have is J.
Todd McAleenan.
He says, first time down at your project was great crack.
What's your opinion on having a relaxed two day camping event in the north?
What is stopping that from happening?
Funding, council, general bad behavior,
pay us apologies for holding nights up in the way home,
hangover and low fuel was stressful.
Sorry, the chips were calling me and Yuri.
We was convoying together, were you?
I was pulled out.
I think he was in front for a while.
And do you get out random?
I don't know.
So what you're saying is the Mark 3 GTI is nothing against a Mark 7 GTI?
I know, I would say that.
I'd say it.
There's been a few camping car events has been tried over the years.
Castle Well and On officially was a camping event.
We camped at it and a few other people did, but it wasn't part of the show.
It was such it was on a campsite.
It was never really any issue.
Camping brings a different element and hassle and.
Well, it was that we seen it brought a 106 on its roof.
The campsite in addition used to be great until it got scary.
Went feral.
Yeah, it got to the point where like I've camped at a lot of I've
a camped.
A lot of like bike rallies, like proper, like not sports bike,
like chopper type bike club rallies.
Or you should not feel safe and you're fine.
Fine.
But at this and 38, I got to the point where like I was getting into the tent
and thinking, will someone drive over this tent?
Because it did happen.
And we tried to sort of camp in locations where you were like, right,
somebody couldn't get through here.
You know, there's a fence here or whatever or that kind of thing.
And that's kind of what that always ends up leading to is more of an issue.
Now, I know the the arsehole factor in this country is high.
It is.
It's the same reason that the caffeine and machine thing wouldn't work for me here either.
It's a there's a sense of entitlement with people.
There's the arsehole factor.
There's also the I'm going to come in and record around me and not give a fuck
of this runs again or not, you know, well, that is the overlaying element of it.
Basically, we run an event.
Why would we put it in danger by offering a small factor that might endanger the event?
Yeah, the people would be great to have.
Yes. But why do you end in the event?
The people who cause those issues and generally cause more issues
at shows are not the people they're enthousiast.
Yeah. And it sounds so cliche to say that, but they're not the people who breeze
in or kind of on the outside of it and they want attention.
Back car, take it to show for a year or two and then piss off.
Yeah. And that's what happens.
I don't think there's a funding issue or anything with it.
And like, I would say if somehow you offer a camp on a dub shed,
a lot of people will probably take it up, but it's not something
that I would personally want to try and police or do anything with.
Um, the element is you have drunk people in show cars, not good mix.
It's not. Well, Peyton's fucking 964 at the station, 30, eight again.
Got reversed into by a modified rally.
Well, with a drunk guy, like, you know, two cars you would not expect to collide.
Never mind drunkenly on a show field.
If you were to do it, you'd have to have the camping area.
A mile.
That's what I was going to say.
You'd have to have car park over here, camping over there.
No cars on the camp field.
You know, keep it out of the way.
Good question. Yeah.
Oh, right.
And it's things that got its ideas and you're trying to push the scene forward.
It's good to always think about things, but it has been tried here and it didn't end well.
Like I say, one or six on its roof in a campsite.
Tells you.
Good night.
But yeah, that's us for questions, folks.
Thank you very much.
That is us, folks.
Just a quick reminder that Comber cars and coffees in the 29th, not the 22nd of May.
So two days after this two days podcast and then we have a G on the 14th of June
down in Watergrass Hill, your trip in 4th of July.
It's good to be 12th of July.
Weekend, whatever.
It's actually on the 12th of July.
Yeah.
So yeah, planning coming up.
Note, wonderful.
Actually get to something to be good.
I'm heading to players in two weeks.
Very nice.
I'll make me here for the next one.
The weather make me good.
Got away for four days.
Ah, class.
Staying coffee machine the Friday night and never staying in a quite a busy hotel
in the Saturday night.
Very good.
That's good.
Haven't been to players in three or four years.
That's good because that's maybe the break you needed from it.
Yeah.
Don't yearn the row and then you sort of, to be honest with you, I love Rollhardt.
This year, Boxingas has their cars and coffee in the Saturday and Rollhardt's in the Sunday.
Oh, yeah.
Boxingas there.
See, they're, I forget what it's called.
That's the poor shop you went to, isn't it?
That's auto farms beside Boxingas.
But Boxingas events when they're on are unreal if you're in the airport.
So that's a weekend.
The day has the first weekend of August, I think.
You doing that?
I'm in America.
Ah, I read soon.
But on that note, thank you very much for your questions.
Thank you for listening and we'll see you next time.
We will need we are collectively known as our Instagram as at reload podcast.
Individually we are at Maxwell House 46 at Connor McCann at V Dubboy.
And I'll see you next time.
Cheers folks.
Bye.
About this episode
From recording delays and travel fatigue to a string of rental-car disappointments, the hosts compare what they’ve been driving and fixing. They swap stories about damaged rentals, post-COVID “cheap range” interiors, and tech quirks like a Volvo screen glitch versus a Jeep’s screen-off button. The conversation then shifts into hands-on garage work—air suspension fabrication, tools, and a short shifter—before landing on the Kilbeggan vs. Helen car-event weekend: camping, awards, and a surprisingly Porsche-heavy scene.
