Hello, everybody, welcome to another episode of the Dirt Nerds Podcast.
Dwayne is here, but he is not.
Hi.
Say hello, Dwayne.
Hello.
I'm far away, like 20 miles.
He's far away, but not far away.
Yeah, this weekend, Dwayne is calling in.
We had to give you a podcast because Honeycutt was bitching at me at El Dora that there was
no podcast last weekend.
So that's right.
I actually, I guess we're going to coin a new thing called the World 100 Flu.
I don't really know, but apparently I got it.
So I just texted Dwayne today and said maybe we should just do a phone call.
Don't want to risk getting him sick.
He's got a business to run, things like that.
So I said, let's just do a phone call that way.
I'm not spreading the World 100 late model IEDIS to you and I think it's too much sand.
Too much sand?
From what?
Yeah.
The race tracks, I don't know, maybe he's on the beach.
Maybe he was, you know.
I was a part of the 22 plus thousand people at El Dora Speedway this week and Record
Crowd closed the, closed the ticket windows and everything.
Never seen that at El Dora in all my years.
Wait, you want the two races?
Yeah.
Two races?
Was there Friday and Saturday, big fella?
What?
No wonder you're sick.
Yeah.
Over-extended myself, didn't I?
Yeah.
No doubt.
You exerted yourself too much.
You're exhausted.
That's what it is.
Well, we'll get into the World 100 here in a minute, but first as always, we got
some awesome sponsors to talk about.
Our friends over at propane.com are, is our first one, is our first sponsor
to talk about.
We'll talk about them each end every week.
Propane is an awesome, awesome energy source.
If you haven't already, check out the website.
You can learn more about what propane can do for you.
It is clean, safe, reliable and affordable energy.
As you can imagine down at El Dora Speedway, lots of propane getting used, be it
barbecues, be it just for your camper, believe it or not.
Some people may have had their furnace on at night.
It got a little chilly of all things.
It did.
The first year I remember wearing hoodies at the dream and the world.
It's been a while, but yeah, propane was definitely in full force at El Dora
Speedway.
Propane appreciates it and just like all those raised fans, you out there who
couldn't make it can also help out our friends at propane.com just by buying
some propane.
We use it often here at my house on the old grill, outdoor living for
commercial stuff, agriculture stuff, you know, harvest time will be coming
soon for farmers and, you know, grain drying and all that stuff uses propane.
Lots of fleet vehicle applications, school buses, more and more schools are
switching to propane for their school bus fleets.
Again, it's used all kinds of different ways.
Head over to the website propane.com.
Learn more about what propane can do for you because as they say, propane
is energy for everyone.
Propane.com.
There you go.
We'll get into the world, but yeah, my new Montana friend wants to meet you
just to hear the jingle, he said.
There you go.
See, I told you, we need propane.com shirts like that.
Propane.com.
We can sell them in a little Dirt Nerves logo.
There you go.
That's the trademark.
Our next sponsor is our friends down at the whistle stop.
Woo-hoo.
You got the manual.
You got the manual.
They gave me a closed service on Sunday.
We got the manual whistle today, folks, sorry about that.
But our friends down at the whistle stop had a big weekend thanks to all the
race fans out there just down the road from Eldor Speedway on those race weekends.
They really enjoy hanging out with all the race fans.
It was a big week for them.
Yeah.
A big weekend, not just weekend as there's campers there all week from Labor Day
weekend to the world.
Oh yeah, it was packed on that Sunday.
I mean, literally every table was packed and every barstool and we was in there
Sunday and we left just four hot laps and it was.
There's Dirt Nerves fans because one of our biggest fans walked right in the
door and I said, what do I always say?
He goes, Dirt Nerves!
There you go.
whistlebarangrill.com is the website.
I was able to short time down in the area for the world, but I was able to get
me a breakfast pizza Saturday morning.
I was craving it.
Holy smokes.
You went to two races and went to the whistle stop.
That's right.
I had to get the breakfast pizza.
Not how we know why you're sick.
Breakfast pizza.
I'm getting flipped off.
Wait a minute.
Because I'm getting crap.
I'm going to be flipped off by somebody walking by me right now since I'm
giving you crap.
She is the smart one.
Yeah, check out the menu.
whistlebarangrill.com is the website.
You can check out the menu.
You can order online.
There's a drive up window to pick it up.
If you do get to the racetrack for a few more of the races this
year, you can even get it door dashed out to the racetrack.
So all kinds of ways to enjoy some of the awesome whistle stop food.
Again, pizza is legendary.
Sandwiches are great.
Burgers are great.
I haven't had anything I disliked there.
Needless to say.
No, me neither.
We had...
I had something different this time.
I can't remember what it was now.
I got it purposely because it was different.
It was good, but I can't remember what it was now.
The pole tabs didn't do any favors.
No, those were not good.
The pole tabs were not good.
Oh, and we actually got dessert, too.
Ah.
We got the cookie.
Nice.
Yes, which is very big.
It is not...
If you have to go on a racetrack,
and she tells you it's real small and round like that,
it's as big as my fat face.
So it's big, trust me.
There you go.
If you're in the area, head a little further down the road.
Be sure to hit up the Sure Shot Taphouse as well.
Downtown Greenville, Ohio.
If you head over there, you can enjoy...
They got 46, but actually 50 now.
Self-Pore Taps, because they got four upstairs
in the Bullseye Game Lounge.
They got all kinds of different alcoholic beverages on tap.
Your regular domestic beers to your seasonal stuff.
IPAs, Stout's Porters, usually some ciders,
and a Seltzer on hand.
It's a cool way.
You're only charged by the ounce, so that way,
if you want to enjoy one of those kooky-sounding beers,
you may not want to commit the entire pint, too.
It makes it really easy, real affordable,
just to try some of those interesting beers out there.
Maybe you find one you like, and then you can commit.
Pour yourself the entire pint.
Works out real well.
Upstairs, like I said, they have the Bullseye Game Lounge.
You got 24 arcade games, four duck pin bowling lanes.
All self-serve. You head upstairs.
You can take your drink with you.
Have a good time with some friends
and enjoy each other's companies.
There's venue spaces.
There's the Game Lounge.
Room's up there, so if you want to book
like a private party, birthday party,
holiday outings, anything like that,
they can set you up.
www.tapphouse.com is the website.
Check them out if you get a chance.
I know some fans that went there.
Over the world, 100.
I know one of our listeners,
Tony Arsfield, went down there.
Good. Yeah, hopefully you enjoyed it.
A couple other people said they went down there
for the first time over the
between the weekend before and the world.
Right on.
Yeah, so this weekend
was the World 100.
Dwayne also wrapped up the
AFCS Championship at Attica
in Fremont.
And then Labor Day
had a few races going on.
Yeah, but the big one, the World 100.
Selling out first time.
I guess they said
the first prelude maybe they did that,
but I don't recall that.
As far as any other... I don't either.
I've never seen the ticket windows closed
before.
See, I think...
Yeah, I don't ever remember the first prelude.
I don't remember that either.
But I would say there's...
I think they quit selling tickets,
but it wasn't...
They just was...
It wasn't a capacity crowd like this
was Saturday night.
I mean,
Saturday was the biggest crowd ever in history.
Yeah, and they...
Yeah, I could tell early
that it was probably going to be another record crowd.
Didn't think it would be that much of a record crowd,
but...
Yeah, it definitely felt like it.
It's one of those nights where
probably strategize if you're going to go to the concession stand
or the bathroom and maybe have to miss...
Oh, that's what Thursday was.
As soon as it's there Thursday,
I'm like, oh, Saturday's going to be a mess.
It's Thursday was by far the biggest
Thursday night crowd I've seen down there for anything.
Yeah, and Friday was...
I mean, it just grows from the opening night, right?
You may have planned to miss
a few laps of a heat race or something
if you didn't want to have to wait in a long line,
but I didn't even try to concession stands
because I knew I'd been around long enough
to know, you know, you're going to be
staying in the line for a while, but...
You know, kudos to Eldora and the team
making it all happen.
You know, nothing too crazy
that I saw ever really happened,
so it seemed like everyone played nice
and everyone enjoyed a cool evening
at the cool weekend for that matter
at the races.
And we got a new winner, first time winner.
One that was always kind of in question.
Can they ever get it done?
Ricky Thornton Jr. taking the win.
Davenport, you thought for sure,
was wrapping that baby up real fast.
I thought he started on the front row
and it was the only guy to go from
sixth to first in the heat race.
Well, he went fourth to first
in his heat race.
I thought he started sixth.
No, because sixth was high point man
in both nights and, you know, for him.
So he has hit the invert
pretty damn near perfect.
But Hoffman and the first heat went from
sixth to one.
Most heat race wins actually,
I think all but like one
came from further back
than the second row even.
You mean they can pass if the invert?
DJ was taking lessons
from Dwayne over the PA saying
and they say, you know,
inverts kill races.
And you know, you can't pass
and yeah, there's some guys proving that one wrong.
Needless to say.
Yeah.
Like I said, a big race
if you invert them, they will find a way to pass.
Yeah, Bobby Pierce didn't get
that didn't get the memo.
Unfortunately for his heat race, finished seventh
had to start like 10th into B main
or ninth and getting the last
transfer spot in his B main starting
on the back row.
So you're kind of keeping an eye on him.
You know, fast time provisional
which, you know, Dale McDowell
from the back of the field at Eldora
is just, you know, expected
to contend for a win
because that's kind of been his MO for so long.
But obviously came in second place
but RTJ, you know,
won a heat race
and locked one of those up front starting spots
dropped back a little bit
and made it happen there at the end.
Davenport was suffering a slow leaking flat tire.
I was reading today
he probably felt it starting on that
last restart that he lost the lead.
You know, hindsight
he said it probably should have came in with 25
to go and just had a caution.
He probably
could have made something happen because he still got back
up to seventh place but, you know,
he thought maybe he could make it last a little longer.
So hindsight
2020 but yeah, Ricky Thorne Jr.
getting the big win finally getting the big one
at Eldora always
kind of wasn't questioned if he could get it
done. So kudos to him.
Yeah, we said
we, you know,
we talked about it. We did
last or when we did our
Wednesday or Thursday one that, you know,
I was thinking there's going to be a first time
winner and I mean
he was obviously the obvious choice
because like I said, Pierce
Davenport and
RTJ's won the majority
of the late model races across the country last few years
but for a minute
there, you know, he thought he'd make it like
a McDowell or, you know,
Rice
kind of had some bad
luck with his engine. I mean,
he looked like Thursday night off to a
great start and then
the engine was screwed up
his weekend right away. Yeah, and then
Hoffman was the other one that kind of was
a little bit of a coming out party for
his Eldora runs. I mean
he's made the shows before and whatnot
but as far as being an upfront contender,
you know, for a whole weekend, this is kind of
the first time he's been in that
seat and seemed like he might have had
something but yeah, McDowell
and RTJ proved a little
little too much for him so hopefully
Hoffman will get his shot but
definitely, definitely strong
contention for him and hopefully
much more to grow on because
like Dwayne said, we'd like to see a new winners
so someone like Hoffman would be pretty damn
cool to see that one there.
Sure, it plays one nuts with McDowell
Thursday night, you know,
the last corner pass of Devon there
Moran and
yeah,
you know, it'd be good to get
some different people in it, not that
I don't like any, I like all three
of those guys but
it didn't seem to hurt to crowd though so
hey. Yeah
it's like, where do you go from here?
You know, I mean, because
obviously each year like you was saying
the crowd grows bigger, bigger and bigger
I mean, now that we sold out
because now next year it's probably going to happen to Kings Royale because
you know, Kings Royale
is a big sell door crowd in history
up till last weekend
which, you know, that's been happening in the last few years
well no, do it
then the next one, you know, it's been swinging
back forth, well now we have sold out
so is that going to happen to Kings Royale
who, maybe, maybe not but
what do you do?
We was talking about this today on my radio show
and Jim's like, well can you
put more seats there? I said well
you maybe put
a few smaller bleachers over by
the big screen where you know
you're not going to interfere with that
that have to be smaller one. I said you could
put some more bleachers but
not, I mean, I don't think
you'd want to build a little bridge
across the creek and have people walk over the hill
turn two, I just
then you couldn't do your pyro and any of that stuff
but I just, I don't see that being
a viable option, I'd be honest with
having a bunch of people walk
in and you'd almost have to make a bridge
over the creek to get over there
and I don't see
that being, you know.
Yeah, then I think their biggest problem
is parking, to be honest.
Oh yeah, yeah, it's
already been a problem, you know, just like
camping, I mean because you're going to
those talent campers go clear down to Fort Recovery
you know, Fort Recovery, the fairgrounds
that in Greenville and
Sliner were packed, that fairgrounds
with campers, I mean, so yeah,
parking, but
you know, do you put
bigger stands outside
of those stands, I mean
you know, or do you just
sell it out, I mean Knoxville Nationals
well it's been three years in a row
now, they quit selling pit passes
and stuff because you know
El Dorre quit selling pit passes there, I think
that was the only thing, oh okay, I can't sell it out, we'll just buy a pit pass, well
they didn't quit that
Knoxville's done the same thing, so
or just keep going selling out
over here, you know?
Yeah, you know, the other concern
which, you know, they do a pretty good job mitigating his
bathrooms, right, they have their
regular ones in place
but they bring in a lot of Port of Johns
and things like that to help with that, but
at some point you just
run out of infrastructure for all the people, so
it'll be interesting to see what they do going forward.
You ever think you'd see that day?
I
know, I mean
all my years I've never heard of what a
capacity crowd really is at El Dorre
so
you know, I don't, well they posted
30 plus thousand I've seen today
well okay, maybe, because Stuart said on the
stage
you know
pre-race ceremonies that there was over
22,000, which you know
20,000's always kind of been the number you hear
well that might have been what he told the tax guy
yeah
well and I don't know
what does that include, is that just reserve
seats, is that ticket sold, is that
plus pit passes, you know, there's a lot that
factors into, you know
yeah, sweets, you got the sweets, you know
and that little
boo thingy over there in turn one and two now
yeah, so
yeah, I mean it definitely felt packed
I will say it didn't feel like it was any more
packed than the year before
but like you said
Duane, over in the turn two by
the scoreboard, that's my telltale
line, is how busy is it on the hillside
over there because usually
that's the last place that gets people
so far from the track
the lighting's not great over there
but I mean it was packed over under the
scoreboard even all the way to the track
to the fence, so
it was pretty full, needless to say
well and then from the pit stand
there was two there in turn three, right
oh yeah
there's a lot of people sitting on that hill
on Thursday night, so I
figured that was capacity
yeah, I mean, so you're basically
out of room, I mean yeah you could put some bleachers
you know
it'd have to be maybe
three-quarter the size
or two-thirds of the size
of the ones you have in the corners, like
you get another section over
underneath the scoreboard but obviously
you can't make it as tall because you don't want
the scoreboard to be interrupted
or
anybody thinking they're Superman
touch scoreboard or something
you know
I mean but really
I mean there's not
a ton of room unless you did
some deal over there
off turn two which I just
I just don't see that as an option, I mean to me
that's too
like I said it's dark, you'd have to have
lights over there, you'd have to have
build a bridge over the creek and you wouldn't want
a bunch of people, not that
everybody's
carried away but
you wouldn't want a lot of people consuming a lot of alcohol
walking over a bridge over a creek
to get over there either
yeah Stuart said
in pre-race he said yeah
you know once upon a time Earl looked at
moving
the creek behind and he said that was a fine
that was larger than I'm willing to pay for
so
yeah so I don't think you're going to get any seats
back that way especially those billboards
they cost a lot of money they
help to track a lot we'll say
right exactly so I don't
that's what I mean you're pretty much out
I see maybe putting like said over there
underneath the billboard and like said
it wouldn't be the huge ones but
if you put up enough for
500 people
it would be better than nothing
the only thing I could see is maybe
getting bigger grandstands around
the corners
and you'd have to take some room away
from what's behind them like three
and four it's foot traffic
in the souvenir trailers that
are back there turn one it's a little more cramped
so
maybe do some like
you know like Toledo Speedway
put in old MIS bleachers from back in the
day which you know they're huge
sections something like that maybe
but you know I don't know if that's an
investment they necessarily want to make
or just sell shit out
every year and call it what it is
exactly
yeah prelim nights
there's two of them but
you know four features only two winners
both nights Dale McDowell
and Jonathan Davenport getting
wins
I'll tell you Dale McDowell made a
lot of new fans because Friday night when he
took the lead the place was going crazy
when he got out of the car people were going
crazy and when he went over
the stage for driver introductions he got
the loudest cheers out of anybody so
let's move on Friday
or sorry Thursday night
yeah everybody
you know everybody thought
Daven had it wrapped up and was
clapping and cheering and all of a sudden here comes
McDowell makes that pass
and the crowd just erupted
you know so
yeah he definitely made some fans this weekend
for sure and
you know not a whole lot of drama
for once it seems like out of the
of the late models at Eldora
but that's bullcrap
yeah you know
Thursday night accident with Shane
Clinton and Michael Page kind of
spark some which to me
to me it just looked like Page pushed across
the corner
just missed it a little bit and
pushed up the track got a hold of Clinton
obviously Clinton wasn't real happy
understandable but I don't think it was
an intentional thing by any means
say he's never happy
and then Saturday Friday night
there's real no big
Saturday the
was in the B main
or was it a heat race
I think it was I was last heat race
Tyler Millwood yeah
60 yeah
Kohler rusty yeah rusty
got well tagged
end of that one and sent Millwood
for quite a ride but
everyone walked away just fine
and I actually ended up with
some of Tyler Millwood's parts at my
camper
really yeah so
I was telling Dwayne before I recorded
had a
a listener of the podcast there you go Dwayne
I'm not a dick to all of our listeners
ball time
a listener of ours
got a hold of me I believe
over the winter he's working on a school project
and you need to talk to someone
for the project from
about racing stuff so
he reached out to me and he's from
Bozeman you
well he picked me and Fiedler
but Fiedler never got back to him so there you go
suck it Fiedler
yeah
no hate Fiedler's a good guy don't have a problem
but
he mentioned he was going
maybe gonna go to UNOH
so I said well you got my number
like keep me keep in touch you know
you're gonna be a long way from home and all that so
he moved into UNOH last weekend
Labor Day weekend
and he asked me about
when's Attica racing and I said hey
come this Friday I'll get you in
and you know it's
light model sprint cars and
him and a buddy came so I got to
meet him face to face for the first time and
you know
Racing Montana a little different than where we're at
but
Wolfie is a guy's name
and named after his grandpa
but
you know never seen that he's never seen
sprint cars and he's never seen
super late models and he's also never seen
that many cars in a class
show up to a race track
so that was Attica last weekend
loved every second of it and I said well
I said what are you doing next weekend
he goes well I might try to go down to the
World 100 and I said well
I got you if you you know want to come
I said my parents got their camper
I got extra tickets like
we'll hook you up so
Wolfie came down Friday and Saturday
watched you know of course first time ever
going to the World 100 he's there for
a record breaking crowd and
right had a great time
you know never seen fireworks at a race
before and obviously never seen a drone
show before never seen that many people
at a race before so
absolutely loved it knows
Michael each obviously
the 09 car from Montana
and
Michael's dad so
he was in the pits a couple times talking to those guys but
yeah after the races
Saturday night I said I'll take your
lawn chair back he wanted to go in the pits so he did
and then comes back up to the camper with
the Millwoods
upright from the car
and then the fender
cover from the car so
and he got B. Shep
to sign the
sale panel on the back
because it said Rocket XR1 on it so he had
B. Shep sign it for him too so he had
he had a good time needless to say
awesome that's good
yeah so he's in Lima
so he's playing on getting to the
for crown and wants to go back for the dirt
track and all that stuff too so
you're talking
you know Lima's an hour for him and he was
used to he races compacts
out in Montana and
his Sunday night track is shared in Wyoming
which is five hours away
wow so
he said like one track
he gets spoiled
and he starts moving around from Lima
to all the close tracks
that's what my dad said my dad said dude if you drive
five hours from where you're at you can see a lot
of different stuff race
oh yeah no shit
you can see a ton I mean
you still see a ton this year just a few
you know still within an hour
I guess Millstream has the outlaws
still and Wainsfield has
410s
and 305s yet in October
and Fremont's racing for a couple more weeks
I mean hell he could definitely see
a lot of racing yet
yeah
yeah he said the closest track to him
is like 10 or 15 minutes away
and then after that it's everything's over three hours
wow
so got quite the uh
sometimes our people don't realize how lucky
they have it but even though they'll sit there and
bitch and belly ache about something stupid
you know you could be in a situation like that
where you got one close
track in three hours
yeah
so it's funny talking to him
because
you know ASCS sprint cars always
went to Montana and there's always
the race where you'd win and you get your picture
with the bear
right you know Montana is a big state but
a small community he's like oh I actually knew
the guy or know the guy that had the bear
and I guess the bear died
so that's why they don't do a picture with the bear anymore
no shit
good reason why
so I just remember the picture of Wayne Johnson
like sitting there
you know scared shitless after winning
out there
and the bear standing next to him wanting to hurry up
get the picture done so
yeah that's cool
he was you know
another grand kid to my mom by the end of the weekend
he's going through the cupboards of the camper
getting snacks and everything and you know
he's uh
he was broken in the right way we'll say
there you go
so there you go
you know his mom was still up here
when he came to Attica
and I was like where's your mom
he's like oh she's just out in the car
like she just
you know she'll find something to do
or whatever and I told him
I kind of wanted to meet your mom just so
she knew like you weren't hanging around with some
weirdo guy you know that you just
oh then why do you want her to meet you
oh that's what he said
she's listening to the podcast she already knows
I'm like oh great
shark knows you're weirdo
so
yeah so cool experience
like you said around here
sometimes we probably take it for granted how good we got it
but uh
it's cool to be able to
I'm happy I was able to
get someone to their first world 100
and a record breaking one at that so
well I remember at Attica
and uh I never
I never did run into him that night
and uh
so yeah hopefully I meet up with him sometime
yet this year
yeah he's wanting to hit up the foreground
that'll be a good Dwayne event for sure
oh well I'll be there
Armstrong's gonna be down there too all three days
our buddy Kyle
Kyle's gonna be there
yeah we got down the hot laps
or down to the pits Friday is hot laps
we're kind of starting so
swing by the Simpson trailer but
the front straight in the pits is kind of
crazy so I didn't want to get run over
by a car or anything and obviously
Wolfie never seen uh
you know big cars like that let alone
from the infield at Aldora so I was like
dude you gotta you gotta see hot laps from the infield
at least so oh yeah
he had a hell of a time
good deal as you could imagine 18
year old kid that loves racing he was
he was loving every minute of it
oh I bet
oh no
so yeah the other
100 stuff
again nothing too crazy but
supposedly bigger
bigger and better next year is what everyone's hearing
has officially been announced but
supposedly bumping the payday
up to over six figures is what I hear
oh cool deal
what about uh did you buy any merch
I got me some new merch
why is it on there you getting anything new
no I don't buy merch cause I'm too much
of a fat ass and shirts don't fit me right so
well they don't
mean they're too much but I
got uh you know I had to
get Jenna's brother I've been wanting a shirt of his
you know they finally had it and then
uh you know everybody
says I need a 99
jr. shirt and so
you know my buddy Frank
Hekenass
had it and
I don't know if they knew who I was or not but they act like
I was a celebrity coming in there I had like
holler VIP
treatment and everything I go oh no
you're coming in the holler by years you get the VIP
treatment
so I'm not sure but
I got two of these holler and
cool time so
it's cool uh laying me a few
uh shirts of the drivers I've been wanting
to get for a long time
yeah um
I speak of my buddy Wolfie being from Montana
obviously Michael Leach
driver in the 0-9 car for Montana
uh didn't realize it but I guess
his dad is like uh one of the owners
of Longhorn Chassis so
when everyone sees Michael Leach
run around uh the Midwest this summer
um and he's from Montana
you know you put two and two together
he's pretty much able to race
out of North Carolina at the uh
Longhorn place right so
um young up and coming driver
first year in super so
obviously his results maybe aren't as good
as he would like but uh
he's at Eldora you know gotta
put some laps in there to uh to have some
success so keep an eye on
but he's had some good runs this year at times
well he qualified really good Thursday night
I know
so there's someone else
to keep an eye on but obviously
Wolfie got a good treat he knows them
uh help them work on their cars and stuff
up in Montana when he was racing with
Soda and IMCA so uh
he knows excuse me
Michael's dad so he was able to
run with them a little bit in the pits and say hello
they were just happy to see someone else from Montana there
oh I bet
so you hear any other rumors
about using the Eldora besides
the uh World 100 getting
a pay hike
there's some
some silly season rumors but I don't know how credible
they are about one I heard particular
is Overton in the Riggs car
um but I don't know
we'll see what happens I guess
I was hearing about events at Eldora
oh what'd you hear the one coming up
the dirt track
mm-hmm
that it might be the last one
there yeah
I you know we were kind of hearing that too
but then they were talking to Carl Scherr
on the PA and
he act like he loves having it there so
I don't know what the good
well I heard he was you know
you know he could go to some of these tracks
that he's had that before and probably get a bigger
cut out of his deal
because you know
um you know
where he'd go into some of these tracks
but uh yeah that was kind of a hot rumor
that maybe uh
he was taking because he wasn't happy with
you know the cut he was getting
but you know because he's always kind of
controlled that deal and he's always had it
at places that
you know he can kind of control the narrative
where you know
he can't control it as much
I don't think and
that's kind of the rumor I was hearing but
I hope not I think it's a hell of a race
well I think if you're
Carl Schort in that instance you also got to
think that you're Lucas Oil sanctioned
for that race and that's
one of their championship final events
so
yeah I have a feeling if Lucas Oil doesn't
want to move it Carl Schort probably isn't going to
want to move it
well you wouldn't think because
yeah you think he'd be
you know
okay even if you're making a little less
why not have it at
one a facility you know is going to be awesome
two it's going to have a good car
counting crowd and three they're going to do
everything they can to get the race
in where you know that's
why it left some places because the track
conditions sucked or you know
if you know or
they just had issues that some of the places they
had it over the years so
why would you take it away from
one of the best places to have it
yeah not to mention a place that can
handle all the cars because you got four classes
racing over three days
right exactly
yeah I mean I didn't expect
I didn't expect it to be at Eldora
forever but
the way it's gone I think it's going to be kind
of hard to move it away from there
I do too I do too
I wholeheartedly agree
so that's kind of
rumor I heard from a couple
insider people but we'll see
how like I said
that rumors kind of floated around a little bit
before but
hopefully that's all it is but it's
starting to become that season which
we've already seen some of that
with more and more coming
in other deals
some silly stuff already happening
yeah speaking of silly stuff though
you had your AFCS championship
weekend so let us how did
that go we did
yeah I mean
that is
exciting as years pass
or you know come down
to the last lap and points like
two out of the last three years
or anything like that
Cap had it sealed up
all they had to show up
each night well then
he didn't even have show up
on Saturday to be honest because
Friday had to show up if he didn't show up
both nights he could have got beat
but all they had to sign in
basically Friday and he sealed the championship
but
he didn't win all weekend it was kind of
rare because he's got 15
wins on the season
tight I think for the 410s
in the nation right now but
yeah good car counts we had 28
in each division on
Friday
and you know some good cars
and
good race
had a little bit of issues getting the 410 race
going I mean
you know the last race this season
I don't know if they thought Maytag was sponsoring
those or what because a lot of guys
was in the spin cycle
so much
we had to have a fuel stop
which first time
I think it's first fuel
I know it is first fuel stop we've ever had
in AFCS history in seven years so
you know not bad
not bad and it is more of a
precaution so
we're not running out on the last lap or two
like it's happened here there
and past the
I mean because it was getting close
and it's like okay we can run
but
if there's you know one more
caution
it's going to get close and if there's two more
cautions it's going to be really really bad
and it's like rather safe
than sorry why we already had
you know there's I don't know how
many yellows there was there's reds
and yellows and
you know sometimes you have races like
that
but when the racing was going
it was good there's good good battles up
front all night and
Zef Sable
took the win
his second win
and
for the 410s and then
somebody used to race 305s that
moved up the 410 was racing the 305
the other night we were racing
the 4T Tadio car
Casey Generzak
somebody I know that your family knows
Casey got the win in the 305s
which
the track champions
were crowned then too so Cap got
the track championship
Zef
Snyder got the 305 track championship
and then Kyle Moore
won the late model feature
and won his second consecutive
late model track championship
and I don't know if you
heard about that
all that drama
I had not but
I don't know did you see
in the Victor Lane from
Attica I did not
no
well Kyle Moore thanked Attica
Raceway Park for standing up
and backing their drivers because
we all know
the big blue bulldozer
that was a bulldozer down to
Kyle Moore with Josh Rice and some of them
on that Sunday show
had a little thing
while he
there's some things going on behind the scenes
that
if
the big blue bulldozer
was trying to pull some shenanigans
to make sure Kyle Moore didn't win the title
and he did some things
where
if he showed up Kyle Moore
was going to have to leave
and
Attica Raceway Park basically told
sorry you're not allowed to come race with us
oh really
and so did Wayne County
very good I did not know that
yeah because
it would have cost him
it's kind of a premises behind a two off
I do this
and I show up he's going to have to leave these
tracks and not win track championships
and
both tracks kind of like
that crap and you take
you're behind the scenes shenanigans
and whatever you want to do
you know behind the scenes
with some actions or whatever you
think you got
and they're going to spill on the racetrack at our place
very good yeah it's
yeah that's a shame people got to be that way
and
I mean hey
we've both been around racing long enough to see some of those
rivalries
and you know bad
feelings towards each other
happen but when it comes to getting on the
racetrack everyone kind of knows
we all kind of have too much money into this
to screw around and wreck
each other shit so
well yeah when you start taking things behind the scenes
and making it where
if you show up that guy's got to legally
leave
then publicly say well
yeah he ain't going to win track championship because I'm going there
and he's going to have to leave
and he's going to have to leave
yeah I give
I give kudos for
I mean basically
Acura Raceway Park
stuck up for their guys and say
this guy's been here supporting us
every race for three or four years
you've come once or twice a year and
sorry
yeah back to shit and stay home
yeah
and we've seen this happen at Oak Shader
this year
he's got an affirmation of character because
they said he's spun out on live TV
on dirt no on flow
he's threatened a lawsuit and they said sorry
you can't come back so I like seeing
people that are
being dumbasses and threaten stupid shit
racetrack saying hey
you ain't coming to play here because
you know if they're threatening that with one deal
all it takes is one little thing
and they're going to be doing something stupid
you know
you don't need assholes like that in a sport
plain and simple in my opinion
yeah
glad Attica handled it
appropriately
they did and it sounds like Wayne County did too
yes good deal
but then you had Saturday night
to cap off your AFC
a season over at Fremont Speedway
which
Jamie Miller had a whoa
Jamie Miller had a terrible weekend too
he didn't win all weekend
but Jamie we thought
the 305's might get real close
because he started
on the pull of the 305 feature Friday
and had some throttle issues
actually pulled in the pits and
got just out of the work area
in time before they
wanted to go to take the tail
and salvage it
but he came charging through the
field but Attica but
Jamie basically all he had to do
is sign in to Fremont
and he did
and it's probably a good thing it wasn't close
because he got like 15th or 16th
in the AMA and he had a very off night
but Jamie Miller sealed up
his second in a row title
his third overall with the AFCS championship
and
yeah I've had 25 of each division there
of the 410 friends from 305's
and another good race
and you know
same winner as we
had on Friday night but different division
410 Casey Jeterzak
had the 11 in there and I put it
in Victor Lane with
pretty good battle and man
he made some moves in traffic that
sealed him the deal right
there about
the two thirds mark it looked like
he might get past because
it was a pretty good three car battle
then bam he made
a couple real good moves he split some
lap cars and
bought the last six laps he pulled
up to probably a two second lead
and didn't look back but Casey Jeterzak
took the 410 win
which was 5,000 to win both
both ended up paying 5,000 to win
and then
a guy that's only had
one 305 winning his career
Logan Rio
took the 305
win with their battle of
Dustin Stroop and
some guys up front that looked pretty good
and then Logan Rio took that win
and then
you know trucks
Fremont still goes for a couple weeks
with the trucks, Sean Villani won
in a very close race
as three trucks
him, Brewer and
Thorg were
three wide with
two laps to go or three laps to go
and I mean it was pretty good race
too so Fremont got over us super
early it was
heck we was done by ten we
got together and there's
I don't know I stopped a couple
different haulers and had some beers
and still got out there by 1130 after
hanging out for an hour and a half afterwards
so yeah very
season the crowds
were pretty decent both nights
and I said a little chilly
Attica was a little chilly because it was 40 mile per hour
wins earlier in the day and
died down to like a calm
like 20 mile per hour win through the races
so
I'm so
yeah because it ends up being
pretty good season well one of the
farce payouts and everything
it was our highest by far
and great car counts
and got
Tyler Sheets as our 410 rookie
of the year and I'm
95% sure Daniel Hoffman
is going to be our 305 rookie of the year
so all three of them still had a chance
or three of them had a chance
on the last night and all three of them didn't run so hot
so
I think Hoffman end up winning that battle
and yeah
you also announced that
you're going to be having a
end of season celebration too
yes so
November 22nd
it's going to be combined with the all
star circuit champions
it's going to be all star circuit champions
AFCS sprint series
the moonshine nightclub
or something right downtown Fremont
moonshine something that's
double duck replaced
so the awards
ceremony is going to be free
to the teams and that but that's going to be more
of an invite deal
we're going to have the top ten
and the all stars and AFCS through a 5
and 410s and prior rookie of the years
up there and have a quick little
dinner
and awards deal
and then after that's over
I can't remember the timeframe
right away but then after that
the downstairs is going to be open
free and it's going to be opened up
to a fan party is what we're going to call it
fan fest fan party
for everybody
it's going to be free admission it's going to be cash bar
but there's going to be some like appetizers
stuff all night and I believe
there's a band and this place has a bunch of like
games like
open ball machines and different games
that are just going to be
open for everybody to use and just kind of
a little party combined with the all
star circuit champions so
right on
should be fun it should be
a fun night and I've already been
told by a couple of drivers they live
close enough that we can over there
so we're going to have fun
that's all I was told
alright sounds like trouble
I can imagine it will be
yeah
speaking of sprint cars
one of their big races
happened this past weekend
the Tuscarora 50
over at Port Royal Speedway
for the High Limit Series
a three-day show I did not
state up to date on much with this
I saw Mackery won the opening night
Aaron
Wright so with the boot the boot from Clute
got the win on Friday night
I believe Mackery was the first race back
and then
I didn't even know the kid came all the way
out here but you know hell let's
go win you know
$58,000 in Pennsylvania
Ryan Tim said
not just the Knoxville Nationals
let's get another big win under our belt
I think it was his first 410
weekend there too
ever at Port Royal
if I've heard right
and yeah and he didn't do crap
the first two nights I mean he was
like 18th
16th, 18th and
he's just struggling out here
and then I don't know if you've seen it but they said
in the last month you know he's won
his first High Limit show
his first Outlaw show
the Houston Track Championship
Knoxville Nationals
it's his combined because he's got
midget wins this year
he's got 360 wins he's got 410 wins
I think he's got
I think that was his 17th win of the year
and he's won over $400,000
this year at 19 years old
yeah and I see
on the final restart with 25 to go
he took the lead and drove away to
a 7.265 second
win
yeah wow
which we've talked him up a lot because
he's one of those kids that we've seen
midgets that has talent
that's been in the KKM deal
one of them that don't recycle cars
a lot I mean has he a little bit
but yeah not like
not like some of those
he's got talent and he's not one of those guys
that you know runs over
or anything and
just shows how good he is
I mean he goes out there to Port Royal
and you know
was struggling the first couple of nights
but like I said then
the third night when the big money was on the line
they hit something right and yeah
drove the almost 8 second
win and yeah pretty crazy
USAC national sprint cars
were in action through Illinois
and Missouri
Briggs Danner got the win at Tri City
Speedway
and then Justin Grant
with the
with the contraption on his broken foot
and over at Wheatland
the soil speedway becomes the all time
winner for the
USAC national sprint car series
yeah
yeah he's still doing good
broken foot and boot ain't falling him down
or plate you know contraption
to help use the brakes so
I said well who needs brakes anyway
you know yeah that's right
um other than that
Labor Day weekend
we had some races happen in our area
we mentioned the Attica Ambush
that was all-star sprint car weekend
um
sorry I'm looking for results here
I know Friday night we had the Ironman
late model series
on cap with the
sprint cars
and uh
cap Henry Briggs
yeah say cap I thought swept the weekend
uh for the sprint cars
well at Attica and Fremont or I mean
Attica both nights and uh
he didn't go to Wayne County
where Casey Gendresek got the win
the Pete Jacobson Morris so pretty cool there but
yeah Ironman late models were five grand
to win uh at Attica Friday night
as well Kyle Moore
uh got himself another win
big pan win for him so
actually he ended up winning three features
midway on Sunday
and uh got the win
so he won at uh hilltop
Saturday night I believe for 5,000
so Kyle Moore had himself a hell
of a weekend last weekend
yeah I think they said uh what they say
Victor Lane at Attica
the other night that was his
I think 23rd
or 4th when he said he don't know
between the mod and late model he says seriously
he goes I've lost track but
this guy thought it was like his 23rd
end of the year 23rd or 24th
between two um
and then Attica Saturday like we said
Henry got himself
another win I believe paid 7,500
on Saturday night
and then the old man John Ivy
got himself a 305 win
yes he did
were you there for that yep on a night
on a night I wasn't there
I was gonna say he's probably pissed at you
he's last three wins
I've not been there
and that's what a two year
two year drought for him too
at Attica so
I'm sure that was a popular
win for sure
oh yeah for sure yep
and then Sunday the Baltes
Classic happened they did a split field
uh two features
40 or sorry 24 cars
in each field
and me and Duane were talking about this
the week before say man hopefully they get
48 cars well I forgot last year
they got 65 cars
so that's why they did this
and this year they got 65 cars again
so Kyle Bronson
yeah Kyle you were down there
for it I know but Kyle Bronson got
the win of one and Ricky Thornton Jr
was breaking in that new chassis
got the win in the other and
obviously he went on to win the world 100
our buddy Jerry Bowersack got the modified win
over 51 modifies
with a broken
well he thought he had a broken hand
um because he got in a crash
uh well
talking about the big blue bulldozer
um
he got into it with Rice earlier in the night
and Rice
let him know at the scale when he crawled in his car
how well he saw them
and Rice actually said he scratched
but then they got the car going and
they got in the
the B main
or no it was in the feature I think
a battle on there
um uh Brennan and Rice got into it
on the last lap
and Brennan got stuck
in the fence and Bowersack had nowhere
to go and hit him and then a guy come up
from behind Bowersack and had nowhere
to go and apologize Jerry while his hand
was steering the steering wheel so he drove
the modified a main
with his he went to the
EMS and they're like well
we think it's broke we're gonna have to X-ray it
and he goes I got on the track
or I'm leading the points in the modifies
in the next race
so they put a brace on it says okay go Rice
so he was basically
driving one hand in the modified race
and strumming actually pasting
and uh
restart a few laps ago and Jerry used
his Eldora experience and uh
that was a very popular win I didn't realize
it's been since 2000 I think they said
13 that Jerry's won the modified
race and Eldora
yeah I would never guess that a very popular win
yeah very popular win so
that's cool because we went down talk to him
afterwards because
I've seen him in Attic and talked to him a lot
on that Friday and uh
he's somebody we're friends
with he listens to the show and we're friends
and uh we
it was funny because Friday night we was making our dome
plans of uh
you know we drinking beer and eating pizza
again he's like yep I'm staying the same place
so he's like I didn't think I had rooms there
and I do so we did all that so then it's like
we gotta go down and see
him uh
after he's win and yeah it's like what the hell happened
in your hand he goes that wreck in the modified deal
he says they want to take me to the infield care center
and then he goes hell I'm leading points and I was like
I'll just go out there and race
and they're like well let's put a
brace on it at least so
um but when I seen Thursday at Eldora
um I guess
it's not broke it was just
he said it was still very sore
they didn't have the brace on Thursday at Eldora
but um
so uh
the Jedi you know getting a win
and extending his modified point lead
which uh
I think they got one more modified grace down there
I believe
probably the dirt track
yes
so uh he's going for his next track championship
at Eldora hopefully that weekend
and I mean
jeez over 51 freaking cars too
yeah there's
31 stock cars
yeah that's crazy that's a hell of a show
there's 65
late miles, 51 modifies
and 31 stock cars
I mean it was a hell of a show
I mean it was
I tell ya it's becoming one of those shows
if it keeps going like that that uh
we talk about
if you want to go to Eldora it's kind of like
the castle full night in America deal
it's like or the dirt track
if you want to go to a bigger one with not as
biggest crowd uh that involves
starting to be the same deal and yeah
modifies from all over
said Stremia's there
a bunch of big shots so uh
all the races is good
um
I think Conover I think Conover won
stockers yep
stock cars but uh all of them are good
great races I mean
all three of them are well four
cause there's two late model 8 mains
all of them was really good races
yeah always been uh
crazy that races gone up and down with car
attendance uh over the years
and um you know last
handful of years it's become what it used
to be where it's that true tune up for the
world and we're seeing it more and more
so as the cars get
more advanced track time becomes more and
more important so obviously
well that Ricky Thornton Jr
you know was uh it was an
important weekend for him
well yeah and
and here you go
we're using our head you know like I said
promote you know some tracks just got
a knack for uh making
smart decisions and you know
uh well okay
so having one feature
with uh 24
cars and sending 40 some home
tell you what we're gonna do like we do the others
we're gonna do a group a group b
and have two a mains paying 5000
win 500 start now
48 guys are getting paid so
you had 65 there and 48
made a main money I mean that's
kind of a no brainer of hey
let's go down there because
uh you know even if they get
60 you know and
like I said one getting valuable lap
time at El Dorre but two that's a good
time to go to El Dorre if you haven't been there
if you're like hey I'd like
to just go down there and race some time
that's why some of those modifies were
because it was a holiday weekend and some
of them like hey it was their first time at El Dorre
like always wanted to go there
um so they went
but uh 48 cars make
a main it's kind of a no brainer
and El Dorre fire let's see what can we do
to better the tune up oh let's
just make sure 48 guys get a main
money you know I mean
a very smart move on their part
I mean obviously we talk
Ricky Thornton Jr. and Kyle
Bronson but you had Mike Marlar there
Tyler Herb Corey Hedgecock Brinn
Overton Jimmy Owens
Tanner English Kyle Strickler
Mike Hekinast I mean
lots and lots of freaking good cars
showed up so it's uh
yeah Leech I think was there
well it wasn't he was
I think he was
yeah so just one of those again
you'd never know who you're going to see
I've seen Billy Moyer there I've seen
you know Jimmy Mars Brian Burke
Offer they show up for that
for those races and
yeah it's uh becoming
I'm glad it's becoming what it used to be
that way
yeah for sure yep
um yep that was good
any other uh results Labor Day
weekend to to go over to Wayne
well
where'd you go Saturday
I can thank you
Saturday on Labor Day weekend
I went to
shit I don't remember
that was you know five
races ago oh
I did I went to demolition Derby
County Fair oh nice
the most piss poor
van were piss poor demolition Derby
ran that I think she
in my life really
I house it was
very badly ran
I mean it was why
like the cars not crashing to each other or something
some of them
yeah I like the so the big
cars paid like five thousand to win
and they only had
like nine of them and like
four on the same team
and I mean
um
they was just
putting foot around most of the time they just
been in each other in circles because
there's like two outsiders
well they got kid took an hour right away
well these guys don't want to be
out of the cars when they're on the same team
so they just kind of
would hit each other and just spin each other
and I mean barely tap each other and spin
each other in circles and when they
do that it's hitting the full throttle making it
sound like a monster truck show
like
we go out engines
hit somebody it's a demo Derby and
then
so they come down
you can't tell me this guy's an outsider because
his ain't like the other ones
well now he was on the same team
and they hit each other
fairly hard once
and you're like oh the
Imperial
stalled so he's like okay this station
is a chance to win
and uh
he breaks his stick right away
why the Imperial is still on time
well here I found out it was like grandfather
and grandson or something and
all the other ones are on the team and
they had five I think different
classes and two of them are like that
now the vans was good
the vans was very good but
just uh
it was badly organized it was just
uh one guy that
one literally
hurt I mean
you know I don't know I know you haven't
been to a lot of Derbies but all of my
men too if you hit the driver's door it's illegal
and you get disqualified I mean this dude
hit a guy in the driver's door
so bad it broke the door
and wrapped it part way around the guy
the guy was rocked I mean they actually
threw the red flag and got him out of the car
and he he you tell he was
hurting and then and that guy
went in it's like dude you there's no penalty
for you know
yeah
um and it was
I mean and then
they I don't know they probably had
seven
or eight red flag
fire it was probably more than that
to be honest but let's say eight just
on the safe side but it was probably more
like twelve um
well red flag fire fire fire and
they thought they seen a fire
and they had run out there
and I mean
mess around for ten minutes and there was no fire
anywhere well then when there is a fire
there was a huge fire and flames
are coming out of the headers like
burrowing out of the headers it wasn't backfire
because this car is out smoking
steaming and they're just lollygagging
and they got the red flag and they're out
walking out there like oh look at that
that's pretty it's a hot dog
she's not like
it was
I couldn't believe it I was like
who the hell is putting on this goat rope
I was seeing a monkey in a football
I didn't see that I can tell you that
so what made you want to go to that
well
um
you know what's nice talking
we've been talking about going to the fair
and there's never been to Van Wert
we're like yeah we can go to the race
let's try something different and I said
well she was like I haven't been to Derby
in a long time I said well I think it's
going to be good over there and
I got to look and say do this 5000
win the one class that's got to be great
you know
yeah not so much I thought maybe you knew
somebody or something
yeah I actually one of my
friends that uh worked
in an app store in southern Indiana that
I actually ought one
we used to before COVID when
you could actually have meetings in person
and you know now that everybody did
online shit you know
it was virtual just about
um
we used to the only thing out sales
means that he runs and
and stuff and uh he was in it
and his kid was actually in the power
wheel one but now just
just something different and uh
you know get some good fair food
which had
the best sausage sandwich I've ever had
at a fair so you know there was that
that was good
but yeah the Derby I
got a big car Derby
nice I don't
I don't you know I've been to like
two Derbies my entire life just not my
thing but they can be fun
um a guy I work with
who's actually from India
um he's you know
he works he's technically a subcontractor
for us but uh
he uh lives in Wasian
Ohio and the Fulton County Fair happens
over Labor Day weekend
and the final night is
before the world and they do the Derby
that night well he
he actually goes he's been to Oak Shade a few times
and stuff and likes you know car racing
and he said
Demo Derbies is something they don't have in India
so he likes to try to go so Thursday night
him and his wife went up to the Derby
and they got to the ticket window
and uh they sold out I guess at Fulton
County
yeah no pit passes anything they
they quit selling tickets to the whole thing
so that was I guess I never heard
what happens or not at the fair but
our fair is a very large fair
um for people that don't know we're in a
very agricultural area so
our county fair brings like 120,000
plus people over the course
of six days or whatever it is
it's huge
so much so you avoid the fair grounds
during fair time or traffic's a disaster
but yeah I guess
the final final night the Derby
sold out there didn't obviously don't know
I didn't hear that uh cause
Trebs ran in it
Trebs worse for me ran in it
and uh
he didn't say it sold out but yeah so
yeah interesting yeah Derby's a pile
I'll fill one over here at our county fair
Williams County fair
this Friday and it usually
the grandstand usually sells out
but they never stop selling
pit passes so uh they're
heard of that so uh same yeah
yeah it's been uh
been eventful uh
Labor Day is always busy time in our areas
our farms are going
I actually thought
that uh that's what I was doing this Friday
cause uh
thought I was gonna come out of my Derby
retirement and run uh
they got a special one
over here a new thing they're doing
where
you it pays
1800 to win but you don't get the money
you gotta represent
a like a fire station
or an emergency
like an EMS deal
or something and uh first responder type
of thing
yeah exactly so uh
I thought uh for my old hometown
Evansport we uh
we had a van offered to us for free
but it just uh
didn't work out to get in time
I mean today is the first day
the guy was around in two weeks to deliver
Savannah and Derby's and you know Friday night
and I'm
gonna half-ass it if I'm gonna do it
we're gonna do it right and get it ready
and uh so I thought I was gonna
be running the van Derby this week
or this Friday but uh
didn't happen or not gonna happen
let's put it that way nice
um
so I guess nothing
more race results
there's a few news notes to uh
to talk about to discuss
the big one I mean
it's not totally surprising uh depending
on who you are I guess but uh
oh I should say word of outlaw
sprint cars raced at Vado I know their
second night got rained out
who won the first night
um
I don't even know to be honest
I forget I forget to
gravel there you go surprise there
I'm shocked
yeah um
but uh yeah big news
out of the word of outlaw side of the world uh
Sheldon Hottonshield will depart
Stenhouse Jr. Marshall
racing at the end of the season
and his crew chief
yeah and Kyle Ripper as well
they've been together for a long time
but uh yeah they're both leaving
and sounds like they are leaving
which I never thought Sheldon
would get fired from the car even though the results
have just not been
guaranteed not up to
anybody's expectations or probably
wants and uh
so I don't know exactly
what he has going on but uh
Ripper lives
in the Knoxville area and I'm
pretty sure Sheldon's wife's from
Iowa so obviously
everybody the rumor
mill is he's going to the 18 car
um
but uh I'm not sure
you know that's a hot rumor because
Ripper and that's no secret
Ripper's talked about getting off
the road for a few years or you know full
time where he could be more of a car chief
and being based there
you could do that a little more probably
than based in
you know
but I don't know
uh the rumor is
about a second car with gravel
um then
you know some people's brought up
oh whoa hey remember
when he had the 93 car and started Tony
Stewart kind of helped him that oh well he's
going to go in the Stewart car but
I know I'm banking on
probably just if you go with
Ripper and all that
leaving so you know they got something going
that they're both leaving and
I
I would think it'd be the 18 but I don't know
yeah I'd agree that makes sense but
uh I guess time will tell
but yeah when both both parties
like that are leaving uh kind of the end
of the season that kind of tells you they got
something lined up is what it sounds like
only 100% yep I would say
and you know being the 18
from you know not far from Knoxville
and Ripper lives in Knoxville
and all that I
you know maybe maybe not
but uh
I could see that happening
the next question
is what's happened to the 17
I would think maybe
uh Gio just stays
with the team and once uh
once um Sunshine
comes back I you know I mean
maybe not but
I think that would probably be
an easy move
yeah it'd be I mean they're not technically
team cars but they kind of are so
right um yeah I mean
it it makes sense
to do that switch but I guess
time will tell us um
yeah and then the 15 car
which obviously may not be 15
um that'll be interesting to see where
where that lands and who lands
in the seat
right for sure
um other one I don't know if you saw
it's not a huge
headline but Spencer based in
announced being the Tarleton car for the California swing
for the word of outlaws yeah
yeah well Tarleton's kind of
announced it before he did
I don't know if you've seen that they had a picture
hey that uniform looks good on you
why don't you uh bring it and come
race the outlaw swinging for the next
couple weeks nice
yeah no I did not see that I just
saw it real quick today and I was like oh
it's interesting yeah yeah it's funny
they put they post a picture
of Spencer and his Tarleton uniform
they're like hey Spencer base and
uh that Tarleton uniform
looks great on you why don't you
you and it come out to California
for the next two weeks of the outlaw swinging
come drive for us
okay I'm sure he
appreciated the offer no matter how it came
yeah well yeah they probably
they could I'm sure they probably just did
that for show but they probably
had it worked out before that but uh
it'll be interesting too because
you know Donny's in the W car
with Paul Silva
for some of those shows too
yeah he has them for the
west coast swing so
yep excuse me
uh last one I have
just uh
make sure I talked about it did you see the
shots from West Virginia Motor Speedway
yes
I was talking last time we talked
about it coming back the short configuration
and I had made a comment about
I don't know what they're going to do for lights
because the last pictures didn't have light poles
on the inside of the back stretch
well now that it's kind of the final
uh you know final deal ready to go
I see there is lighting all around
the track now so I want to make sure
to put that out there so everyone heard me say it
um yeah just uh
it looks like they've done a great job with it
hopefully all goes well but uh
I had to see it come back to life in October
yeah I think it would be
neat I think it looks pretty
uh good configuration it
looks like me which to me
the picture might be deceiving but it looks like
it might be a little narrow but I'm not sure
kind of hard to tell from the picture
yeah yeah I don't
I didn't think it looked too alarming
in any way um
but yeah get some cars on there
see how it races I guess
and go from there it happens for sure
any other
news headlines I'm missing Dwayne I feel like I am
but uh I know
one I guess to bring up Brent Marks
uh put an apology out because after
uh Saturday
at Port Royal he had to
bust ass out of there wasn't able to stick around
and talk to fans his daughter actually was having
an appendectomy uh
emergency appendix
removal so he uh had
to scuttle out and uh go be with
his family definitely understandable I don't think
anyone holds that against him but hopefully
uh I haven't seen any update
hopefully everything went okay and all as well
um
I know an update on one of the drivers
that listened to our podcast and his dad
which is his crew chief car
or listen a lot Bobby Elliott I don't know
if he knows he got life lighted on that
yes I forgot to mention that
yeah yes he
uh actually uh went back
college today and I could carry
his laptop uh he's got
you know uh broken
I think T5 T4
and T5 and he's back uh
don't need surgery but uh obviously
out um
for a while and um
but I've talked to him uh
oh two or three times and uh
so it's just sore you know
and uh doing better and uh you know
uh thankfully he can walk around
and do things and uh
it's a big step for him today because he could carry
his laptop to college so uh
um good to see
he's starting to improve a little bit and then
I've seen uh Robert Blue is
officially out for the rest of the year
uh um he wasn't
sure if he would be
back you know but he says
he's said uh
he's been having some issue with his one hand
and he says screw it
while his back's out
he goes why sit here and wait so he had
uh the surgery he's been needing
on his hand um
last week and he says that'll officially
make him done for the year
gotcha um
which he was he didn't want to but
he's like hey if it's kind of stupid why don't I do this now
you know
and uh
to throw it down and out why not uh
why wait and do this in uh
so he is officially done
because he had uh some hand work done too
yeah and I uh I know with Bobby
Elliott's uh I didn't see
any video or anything but I saw he posted
like man looking at it like
that's the wreck that hurts
you know I get hurt in so it sounded like
it didn't look like a very vicious wreck
from what I saw no everybody talked to you said it
was not everybody talked to you said it
was not at all just this way
you hit mm-hmm
yeah bummer to hear that I forgot about that
thank you for bringing that up sorry Bobby
hopefully you're uh back behind
the wheel no time a man I know probably
out the rest of the year to let things heal up
which is the smart thing to do but
you know we want to see back man for sure
yep I know they plan on
being back he says they just
getting the engine and everything out
and uh you know getting it
to go get refreshed they come back next year
I know it's a plan good deal
anything else I missed
um
I'm sure there is I'm sure there is
but I can't think of it uh why
do you see uh
the uh
USAC race in
Arizona now was paying
20,000 they upped at the
35,000 to win
today or yesterday
so they're in October
uh the USAC sprint car
I think that's the finale for them
uh gonna pay 35,000
to win though a thousand to start
that'd be good hopefully some of those
California boys and west coast guys
will come on out
and have a hell of a car count
yeah thousand to start and that's what they're trying
you know a thousand to start
good money for non-wing and 35,000
to win now so they're
really trying to pump that deal up
are you going anywhere this weekend
uh yeah right now
uh the plan is
uh Circle City on
Friday uh USAC
sprints it's the else Ashley Elverson
Memorial um which
we talked about a couple years second year
you know the young racer there killed
in the road rage accident outside of
D&D um but it's gonna be USAC
sprints uh
USAC D2 midgets and the all
star TQ midgets
uh then
Friday or Saturday I don't know if you've seen
our buddy the milk man yeah
uh is paying $6,000
to win for non-wing
sprints now USAC go down
the hobstod but uh
I'm pretty certain uh
my pillars should have some cars for
6000 to win uh with
fides and street socks
and trombics so right now
the plan is um
Circle City Friday
and Montpelier Saturday
yeah no that's actually I wanted to see
if you're going because I want to make sure to mention that
that's uh pretty big payday
for non-wing guys and decent
amount of money for our buddy Ryan Sutter
to put out there for uh
for the non-wing guys so uh
yeah Montpeliers I told
our buddy Wolfie from I said hey
we're not real far that'd be
a good place to check out on Saturday
yeah it's a neat place and yeah
I'm hoping to get the support
from the cars and the fans because it's the biggest
payday he's done for non-wing sprints so
uh but yeah plan on doing that
and uh I don't know if our buddy
you know Jerry Bowersock maybe racing
a mod over there he races over there
once in a while so yes he does not sure
but uh that's the plan as
of right now cool
and uh what three months racing both nights
this weekend right yes
gym forward classic uh
the all-star finale uh Friday
nights uh 5,000 to win
when dirt trucks join
them then Saturday's 10,000 to win with
uh 305s yeah
so still still I limits
are at uh
Lernerville for two-day show ah that's
right um yeah a lot
of stuff coming up uh still
racing to go I know once Labor Day comes
it kind of feels like things are wrapping
up but uh there's still some racing to be
had so be sure to yeah we got a lot
the week after we got a ton because
you got high limits at Lawrenceburg
on Wednesday then Forecrown Thursday
Friday Saturday um
the week after so yeah we got
we got quite a bit yet in our area
and then the week after that Friday
night you got word of outlaws at Millstream
yes and you're
sack of butler on that Saturday
but we're going
to I don't know if I told you but we're
going to Sunday
we're going to Coles County to
the uh
rule king uh
you mentioned one to go road to the dome deal
yep we got our tickets so we're going
cool
did you see uh action track
and Coonstone had late models
yes for the first time
Trevor Feathers won uh they only had 12 cars
show up but uh
uh it sounded like it was a good race and I was thinking
it paid like six grand to win or something
yeah something like that yeah
well that's kind of how Coles County
is going to be I think uh
about like that because uh you know
it's invite and there's you know some good
guys that accepted the invite already
so uh
I know some people
that thought it'd be sold out by now
which I did too because you know they got some
good names but uh
it's like well you know Brownstown's
the day before I think some of them is afraid
of what happens
Brownstown gets rained out you know some
of these invite guys they're going to make it
but they got some world outlaw guys invited
to and uh
it'll be interesting to see what happens but uh
um I seen
one of the best remittances I've ever seen
uh couple or a liar last year
when we did the Illinois midget week
so hopefully in late models uh
I know Bobby Pierce and some of them is testing
on it uh before going to the dome
so uh hopefully
uh it should be interesting
yeah um
Trevor Feathers won at Coontstown
which is another fifth mile
they say I don't know where they're measuring it from
but it looks smaller than that
um but Screvin also had
a 10,000 to win show
uh Dalton Wilson ended up going down there
instead of uh Eldora
which is a little uncommon but Mark
Mark Whitener won
uh 10,098 dollars
uh over
Screvin Georgia so
still some decent races happening
not just the world 100 but uh
yeah obviously the world 100
came to the big dog on the block so
yeah and I don't know
I know the all stars were
at New York and Mercer
which Spithaler run at Mercer
and um
Caleb Henry won
in New York yeah I was gonna say
I thought Caleb won one night but yeah
I forgot about that
yeah Terry Wilbur Memorial
yes
cool
so yeah a lot of stuff
a lot of stuff still happening
Butler still races uh for
I think three weeks so
yeah like you said they got USAC national sprints coming through
we got outlaws on middle stream
we got uh four crown
there's quite a bit still happening
yep
all kinds of things happening yet
cool
alright well
I guess that'll wrap it up for us then
does that sound good to you?
sounds excellent to me
I'm done talking to you
I don't want to talk to you this long
likewise
we've had NFC in person
hey did the Browns win yesterday
asking for a friend
no they should have won the story of our life
hey if your Steelers didn't have a 75 year old
kicker with a leg made of
freaking dynamite you wouldn't have got to win either
I know it hey
but I hope that's the Aaron Rogers
we get every week
he looked the best he's looked in probably five or six years
I have a feeling though
I hope he didn't use it all in one week
yeah imagine if you're the giants
and you see Daniel Jones just go off like crazy
right
for Indianapolis and Russell Wilson can't hit the broad
side of a barn
no not at all
you know the year before
Saquon to Philly and he had a freaking record year
yeah
some interesting stuff I should say
who have thought Steelers defense
was going to be the weak link
we had all these veterans
and they give up 300 rushing yards
I could have ran through
and got 10 yards
on the carrier I think yesterday
yeah I was
under the weather so I started
watching
the Browns game
and then I just started dozing
so I just turned the TV off
and fell back asleep on the couch
but I mean
I missed a typical Browns game
which I've seen before
nothing too crazy
that happened in my opinion
yep
alright
I guess that'll wrap it up for us
so thanks everybody for listening
thanks for tuning in we appreciate it
each and every week
until next time
I guess we'll see you then
as always stay dirty
bye bye
