Propane is a type of fuel gas. People use it for things like grilling and home heating, and some vehicles—especially fleets—can run on it instead of regular gasoline.
“LP auto gas” refers to propane/LP (liquefied petroleum gas) used as a vehicle fuel. Fleet operators like it because it can be cheaper and may reduce some operating costs compared with gasoline, depending on local pricing and vehicle setup.
If the ground gets too wet, the dirt track can’t grip the tires the way it should. That can make racing unsafe or unpredictable, so events get delayed or canceled.
Sprint cars are small, fast race cars that run on dirt tracks. A “non-wing” race means the cars don’t have the big rear spoiler/wing, which changes how much grip they have in the turns.
“996” is a Porsche 911 generation. It’s the kind of 911 people often race because it’s been around long enough that there are lots of parts and experienced mechanics.
“Late models” are a type of dirt-track race car and racing class. People race them on oval tracks, and the events usually have multiple races before the main one.
The Jeff Gillett Memorial is a special dirt race named in honor of someone. The speaker is saying it’s a bigger deal than some of the other races because of the prize money.
A flat tire means the tire loses air or gets damaged. On a race car, that usually makes the car unsafe or undriveable, so the driver may have to retire.
A points battle means drivers are earning points all season based on where they finish. The goal is to finish high in the standings by the end of the year.
The speaker contrasts a series that doesn’t use a “playoff” format with one that still has incentives for top positions. In some dirt series, championships are determined by total points rather than elimination rounds.
“Swept the weekend” means the driver won multiple races over the course of the event (here, both nights). It’s a strong indicator of dominance because it requires consistent performance across similar but not identical races.
Sprint car racing is a type of race on short tracks. The cars are fast and lightweight, and they often have big wings to help them stick to the track in corners.
The HANS (Head and Neck Support) device is a head-and-neck restraint used in motorsports to reduce the risk of severe neck injuries. It works with the driver’s helmet and shoulder harness to limit head movement during high-impact events.
A concussion is a type of brain injury from a hit or jolt. In racing, it matters a lot because it can affect how someone thinks and reacts, and repeated injuries can force a driver to stop.
Back injuries are problems with the spine or muscles in your back. In racing, they can make it hard to sit in the car comfortably and react quickly, which can affect performance and safety.
A slick spot is a patch of track where the tires don’t grip as well as the rest. When you hit it, the car can suddenly lose traction and start sliding or spinning.
The groove is the fastest, most consistent racing line on a dirt track. As rubber builds up and conditions change, the groove can shift, which is why drivers talk about learning “his groove.”
A purse is the total prize money a race pays out. If the track doesn’t raise the purse, the series may have to add extra points/bonuses to keep things attractive.
Sponsors are companies that pay money or provide support in exchange for advertising/branding. The host says it’s been difficult to get sponsors to sign up for the program, and that they’ve lost many sponsors over time.
“Purse” means the total prize money for the race. They’re saying organizers don’t want to raise it too much if it won’t actually bring more teams to the next, more expensive level.
Supercross is motorcycle racing on dirt tracks, usually inside big stadiums. The track has lots of jumps and fast corners, and events can be a hassle to get to because of crowds and parking.
IMSA is a big racing organization in the U.S. that runs sports-car races. If someone gets a job with an IMSA feeder team, it usually means they’re on a path toward bigger, more competitive racing.

a toolbox in the bed of a truck right it pretty much sits there it's probably at least 100 pound
I bet I can't remember I think once you go that big you may turn into gallons that's propane tanks
are weird they're pound cylinders and then when they get so big they become gallons right I was
wondering that when we talked about that before it's like I think buses have a couple of them
yeah so but yeah I know I know like my dad had propane vehicles when he worked at the one place
here in town and yeah I remember I remember him sitting in there but couldn't tell you how big
they were as far as what they carry but definitely a different smell of exhaust needless to say

music on the weekends too a lot of times so big do big ass 100 inch i think that's a big led screen
that any game you'd ever want to watch they'll have it on there probably so check them out
yes it's a good place to go yes not a good place to go this weekend this past weekend is a racetrack
anywhere near here anywhere near us yes yeah i had to go far away yeah moeller is closest i think
yeah and that's three and a half hours let's say adica's been trying to have their season opener
for a month now yeah maybe not quite a month but you know first race schedule for march 15th
today's april 6th as we recorded this actually the weather looked decent a couple weeks ago
and i had to cancel due to uh over saturation of grounds yes you know stuff like that for being too
moist too moist last week uh this past weekend i mean we just got rain three inches of rain over
the course of three four days and you know grounds and stuff aren't gonna dry out quick yeah depends
where you got because there's some area uh places around brine i got five yeah it's we had tornadoes
this past weekend too i mean it's just been an interesting spring and we get cold you know the
cycle of nice during the week cold on the weekend slowly turning this weekend eventually this weekend
it was looking more promising but as we kind of look at the radar before we started uh recording
it's you know who knows where things are gonna go yeah it's so early in the week but temperatures
are supposed to be decent now and it's not that it's gonna rain on the weekend necessarily it's
gonna rain thursday which is like the worst day yeah because then it's how much rain do you get
do you know what's going on we've got a lot of options this week because uh i've got a lot of
people besides attica trying now yeah Wayne county was supposed to rain saturday they had to rain out
yep um lorenzberg tries this weekend um atomic has the iron man yeah with fast sprints
Montpelier it's only 500 to win for light models that's right saturday night
yeah so so yeah there's a lot of um of course that because the two-day show this weekend yes
friday and saturday that's four ten sprints you know friday's supposed to have light models saturday
supposed to have three or five sprints i know in the past they've thrown light models on saturday
but with my pillier racing i don't know what they're gonna do with my pillier and Wayne county
anatomic so yeah who knows it'll be an interesting weekend but yeah it's supposed to be a lot of
weather's gonna cooperate first brownstown has a big non-wing sprint car race saturday night uh you
know there's a lot of tracks yeah kicking the gates open usually april's about time we get fired up
around here so chrysal michigan's supposed to open this weekend okay which they run
they don't run they don't run light models weekly though do they do they okay they always have
anyhow i think they yeah i couldn't remember yeah so so yeah so there's another saturday night light
model yeah we can uh we'll see where things go again it's spring time so the weather today
may mean nothing compared to what we get so yeah stay tuned but uh yeah tracks trying to get things
going yeah mother nature just not cooperating each week uh more more and more open if mother nature
cooperates so just a little yeah and i know you see the comments on posts like why even try to
race this early though it's like well some years we get 70 degrees in march yeah and i don't know
how molar got in last week to be honest because i mean everywhere around there's drenched i don't
know how did it i mean i didn't even know they raced until you said something to me today so
and their car count was terrible but they yeah um and you know they had one invader mike vandermark
jr come from michigan which i don't know is he middle of michigan is he crystal he's up there
he was always a 996 but he raced marit and tricydy a lot so that's a hell of a haul for him yeah
he needed to win the two grand yeah i'm no kidding to make it turn back well my guess is he's probably
gonna maybe go somewhere on saturday like mud lick or something would be my guess but
i got rained out saturday or friday night or friday they announced that so yeah but
anyway yeah it's probably every bit of six hours for him to get down there oh yeah yeah
yeah they're back he needed the two grand to probably cost him close to that to get there
and back for the weekend almost yeah no kidding with the fuel the way it is yeah so i'm really not
a lot of racing going on this past weekend word of outlaws raced two weekends ago uh a us 36 in
missouri where karsten the cedar brook through and get a got himself a win and saturday 81 uh where
buddy got himself the win i believe that one was a really good race too last lap last corner that's
right um off turn four um pass for the win also racing that same weekend was the high limit series
they're supposed to race two nights they got root 66 in emerald texas in where uh tanner thorson won
and then saturday was supposed to be at dodge city got winded out i believe then tanner thorson
pulled to the outlaw show got 12 quick time and loaded up because he says it was too windy there
yeah after he pulled all that that caused some controversy some people like well he just didn't
qualify good enough he then he goes well i ain't gonna tear up my end basically he kind of agreed
he goes i ain't gonna tear up my car starting middle pack of a heat race with it being windy it's
like it's like why'd you waste all a few of the gold yeah i yeah but he's on fire this year
points leader for high limits yep over 21 points it's about two wins now yeah um late models had a
lot of stuff going on uh this past weekend overton won at tazwell on saturday mike marlar won friday
at ponderosa the jeff gillett memorial um where we go uh o'neill won at white virginia deal mcdowell won
you see that him and overton started on the front and they crashed on the first lap yeah i did see
that that's what i hate about weight models is everybody gets their spot back if there's more
than one car because that's the front row and it took overton you know he ended up going out
because he had a flat tire but and that was all their fault so well i don't get it either i hate
that it's like they screwed up they crashed if you're in the caution you go to the tail
i that's how i think you know but deal mcdonald won thursday at i-75 this is the southern nationals
well jeff galt memorial wasn't that was a special event ten thousand the win
yeah ponderosa but uh spring or not yeah spring nationals doesn't order in the all stars at ponderosa
right yes i believe so yes um but yeah the spring gnats which is kind of southern nationals
right cook kind of owns them both now i think it does own them both had a three-day weekend so
you know overton won 21 000 at taz taz well but only 20 cars 20 cars showed up so well there's only
17 at uh friday or saturday at white well that would have been friday friday sorry yes only 17
in it was what 10 or 12 thousand i think 10 and i-75 had 28 for five grand to win so yeah don't
make sense yeah because uh um christ for slater one of our listeners that works for the series
attacks me thursday's like hey we're on flow tonight which i didn't even know is on thursday night
so i watched uh most of it thursday um don't watch any of it friday no i don't watch any friday
no i watched a usack on friday but then uh go in the week before atomic switched to sunday night
yeah um where ricky thorton jr kind of broke through for a lucas oil win he has been
up and down this year to start so good for him uh getting himself a win kade dillard won an arrowhead
in oklahoma it was a 20 000 finale garret smith won at thunderhill 15 000 uh and then hoffman
i'm sorry sneaking by hoffman pierce won at synoa uh the week before as well so devin moran won
at brownsburg yes third third time in a row or sorry browns town i was gonna say the icebreaker
yeah third icebreaker in a row yeah he's kind of had two years in a row that rtj's won at atomic
and he's well hold on i should look at this results more points battle for
the lucas oil devin leads by 15 over hudson so still tight there overton third thorton fourth
which the top four is kind of they don't do the playoff thing but they have no bigger bonuses
going towards the end of the season so top four still important needless to say um
but yeah uh dillard won both nights at arrowhead i should say he swept the weekend so he had a
pretty good uh weekend maybe not where he was but you see uh billy moyer junior was back racing
a little bit yep he was an arrowhead yeah i thought that's where it was he was at but i couldn't
yeah he was i forget he's racing for the same guy he has been um but he's been off for he didn't
race at all last year did he yeah i think so a little yeah he's living in arizona or whatever
but it's some i forget the car owner's name my bad out there but uh just a guy who was like
i want to keep billy moyer racing got good budget so billy moyer said i'm only done racing my own
stuff i'll race uh if anyone else has got stuff and he had some good finishes so still got it the
old man still got it he's talking about junior oh yeah both i'm raced at arrowhead yeah yeah yeah
he was he's a school teacher now yeah junior hasn't raced a whole lot lately yeah i don't know if he
raced at all last year you're right about that i don't think he did yeah uh that's kind of surprised
because he says he's back which yeah he's always been cool i mean i talked to him he's been on this
bike well yeah so he's you know he knows who we are which it's hard to believe yeah and i see him i
think it was at the dome when i was in the pits the one time and shit he talked to me like we
was long lost best friends you know i mean super cool dude that he just kind of disappeared racing
a lot yeah i know our uh i think it was our buddy chase huder hudder yeah bodies with him
and i gave billy moyer junior a dirt nerd's hat um my nephew was in the hospital he right sent him
yeah he sent him some package right so i wanted to say told billy thanks and you know to whom i was
gave him a hat well then chase did like a snapchat in his hauler and above the one shelf billy has
all these hats lined up and the dirt nerd's hat was up there so yeah yeah i don't know if chase
still listens he i get snapchats from everyone smile yeah i see his snapchats too yeah he's like
world traveler so i don't know he probably don't listen to us no we were talking about that a while
ago a lot of people we used to hear from doesn't seem like maybe we're just that lame which i don't
blame them but uh yeah yeah don't do any interviews don't do fan questions that's true i should have
done fan questions this week that's you should have we had some good fan questions that's my bad
out there everybody yeah then we end up with friends like honey cut and armstrong so yeah i
wish some of those other people plumber listen leery leery gives me shit all the time yeah you
wouldn't know where your mushroom hat was i threw that away a long time ago
other action going on um pennsylvania sprint car racing yes they've got some shows in yeah
whenever they can get them in yeah but uh lincoln went to dany d each creek just passed
port royal went to jake carclin i believe how you say the name who won williams grove um
um steven snider jr. okay i watched into that gotcha i know the big talk out of williams grove
which i'm sure dwayne will want to chime in on is anthony mackery getting injured again yeah if you
saw a video of the rc5 didn't look super vicious but obviously enough uh to sideline anthony mackery
for a little while well that's the thing you see these vicious crashes because there's been some
and a lot of times they walk away but that the small ones lately have been
you know the t4 and t5 again which he did that i think it's the four he did last year i don't know
if he did four and five both last year same spot so you know it's like did he come back to early
last year because you know he wasn't out that long last year yeah there's a few weeks and but now uh
thank god he's gonna sound like he's gonna have full recovery i mean you seen him standing upright
walking you know and had the brace on yes but uh out indefinitely um so this is gonna be a lot
longer to heal for sure and yeah and he's got the new trick seat you know with the little socket
ratchet deal or whatever that moves but um this is identical to the conversation i had with buddy
kofoid at pri is he's not running one right now or he wasn't up to that point i i still don't believe
he is um because you know his concern was kind of to me makes sense with the mackery deal it's like
if the seat belts are mounted to the chassis of the car but you have a seat that moves but you
hans device and you know trying to keep you stable without moving and then your um seat belts are on
non-stationary thing then seats trying to move that's just putting more pressure on your back
basically pinching you and it'll find the weak spot and anything has a weak spot from being broken
last year um you know i know buddy's not the only one i've talked to several drivers of pri that day
that says the belts for that need to be mounted on the seat which some of the old school guys
are like well what happens with seat brakes or i mean yeah you know but i i don't think buddy
is too far off to be honest yeah i you know the logic tells you you know you're trying to take a
thing in motion and that's what it looked like a mackery he biked up behind a lap car yeah and then
turned right and then the left rear whole ass into the car kind of bounced off the ground and
it's frame rail and i'm guessing that's what did it yeah it wasn't a little bit of contact he had
with the wall he didn't go flying through the air no it didn't look like a bad accident no it looked
like one you probably could have pushed off from to be honest yeah exactly but that's just just how
you hit you know and uh so yeah hopefully uh he'll make a full recovery i mean kind of starts
getting scary when you have two years in a row back injuries yeah my guess is he's gonna take
some time off that's why they're doing and you know before like oh back in four weeks and this and
this and this but my guess is doctors like hold the phone yeah you need to i mean that's really
heal up it is a downside of the sport when you think about it over the years right we lose drivers
to concussions and back problems well and and i i'm not speculating whatsoever and i hope but
that's kind of stuff that can ruin a career yeah for sure quit especially somebody that young yeah
and it sucks because um to me he is the best sprint car driver in the country that's not on a tour
i mean oh yeah thought it out he could be on any tour and win be competitive be competitive i mean
he says he just says he's the best sprint car driver i'll take all the noxville guys all california
guys all ohio guys pennsylvania i he's 100 i think the best driver without a tour in that you know
and he's got many years ahead of him except for if stuff like this happens yeah you know and who
knows you know i mean sometimes it's like football players or whatever like man you've
had a couple injuries you may think this or this i hope not i'm just who knows yeah it's
right there with you but like i said concussions and back injuries yeah besides aging out or yeah
economics cost all that yeah those that's two big things oh yeah stop you back injury or you know
yeah i mean red injury you see jack huitt yeah you know he paid for it he really moved his right
arm yeah he didn't listen he didn't listen broke his neck and back second time and yeah you mean
it's hard for him to move his whole right side of his body yeah so and you know i think there's a whole
new generation of drivers i'm thinking most drivers nowadays especially younger generations
won't be like jack huitt yeah they'll listen because a lot of them it's just a whole different
generation of drivers you know yeah i mean you got a few erin reichel would probably be one that
like i'll screw you yeah you know some guys like that but uh then you see you know tyler courtney
had an injury was out a lot last year half the year but gave it plenty of time look at case it came
yeah concussions right yeah basically his career you know he's got dacin personally and that's it one
car and i don't think you see him don't sound like he's gonna be a race yeah you know but he's had
some concussions and that and it's like maybe it's time to do something else in life yeah which
sucks because we've seen some good talent but hey it's better than you know being mush brain or
being in a wheelchair yeah and younger these younger drivers seem to have other stuff going oh
yeah in life too yeah we're back then it was die hard racing and you know and i hope i hope you
know that anthony come back and he runs good and you know and can have a career a longevity career
yet but who know you know to me it seems like they're not saying something because they're very
quiet i mean yeah don't get me wrong they showed he's picturing like a but out and definitely
maybe they're just saying that because there is no timeline but i think maybe they know okay hey
this is going to be more than a four-week deal this could be three months could be six months
could be you know i think maybe they're gonna let it heal pretty yeah not gonna not gonna
which not to say they risked it last time yeah it's your second time so yeah gotta have a little
more care and maybe you know said there's a weak point um there's so many back injuries
and neck injuries now and but it's because that's the weak point on your body and they're trying
don't get me wrong we're trying with technology but we ain't there yet and you know that was the
biggest concern it's because i was by that seat like said i told you i talked to a bunch of drivers
it was about 50 50 50 percent of them was like man that's the greatest things on sliced bread it's
gonna solve all the issues now it's twice and then he's had that seat both times he's had that seat
and had back injuries so then you gotta think of a guy like buddy it's like no no no there ain't
the answer because that's not the seat belt center right onto the seats you're still you know three
quarters you're still stationary why the other quarter of you is trying to move yeah that's
scientifically don't work out well yeah and i mean sprint cars in general just have less room
like late models we've had changes over the years right like we got the seat
cockpit mounted a little more into the car the way we sit in cars different than the sprint car
right you're sitting straight up with your back pretty much straight in a sprint car where you
know late model you're a little more lounged out and legs in front of you and stuff so um yeah it
makes a big difference yeah and there's just a lot of little crap in a sprint car that's just
hard to change yeah and some of that little a couple inches makes a huge difference yeah there's
a couple guys that could be walking right now if it's two inches different yeah you know i mean if
you think of how this some of these guys sit in one like a erin right so he's an average height
maybe a little taller than normal and he can't afford to move into a seat and chair there because
his knees are probably already up in the tail blaney yeah exactly you know yeah for sure
tall tall for sure you know some of those guys just like they're yeah you can't can't really move
talls already had one back injury yeah you know too i mean you look at that and yeah i don't know
hopefully hopefully i don't think it makes full recovery you know i mean like least ease you know
you know of course you know how the room is in the keyboard warriors on facebook and all the other
social media man friday night that's all gloom and doom you know you know there's so many things
flying around there and like hold the phone wait till you hear an official word from somebody that
you know everybody's like oh god it's terrible it was uh and which very well could have been
but uh thankfully you know he was out of hospital the next day just with the race and
yeah i mean that kind of stuff you usually don't operate on no gotta let it sit and right
and he would embrace on and not do anything stupid yeah not okay you know fortunately for macries
families got a successful business going and stuff so they don't need to race and can afford to take
the time off i think his dad sold that business i think i think well that's what the one of the
rumors i heard was well and if he did he probably got a healthy chunk for it well yeah um but yeah
we'll keep up to date uh whatever we see or hear i'm sure everyone will see it around the same
time yeah i'm not too sure but somebody said that he sold the night i don't know how true that is got
you but um speaking of sprint cars and injuries the ones that we see a lot of them in the usaic
national sprint cars uh were in action this past weekend no injuries and any accidents there
some some accidents yeah red hill race the way they're supposed to race paragon that got rained
out so they ended up just racing red hill could have easily canceled yeah i don't know did you
watch any of that i didn't but i saw some clips and that track was pretty fast yeah well there's
27 cars i think 19 broke the old track record oh really but it was it was good it was decent
it was raceable but i'm trying to find the right word it really wasn't from the bottom down but
once you got over the cushion that was about halfway up yeah it looked like a low cushion from
what i saw you was in no man's land it it trashed a couple cars did it and like like and some of
the drivers like hey they could easily canceled but you know we elect race we knew and they thought
it would drive in a little more but it's so wet and moist that at just the top even the racing
it took it uh it started to look get some a slick awful a bit for the main but
up to the cushion which is about halfway up but if you got over that cushion or tried it was just so
thick and yeah gummy and stuff that it just sucked you right to the fence yeah i mean it
yeah it looked like a big fluffy wet cushion for sure it was but uh it was a pretty good race
that's a pretty good race um just a grant at the end yeah he uh those guys well there it was weird
because there's a huge slick spot like at the entrance too and a couple guys you know they
weren't really preparing that there's gonna be a get a pretty big slick spot a couple of them about
spun out and um yeah so Grant those guys are kind of dicking around like me and Grant's just gonna
whoop and that's what he did but Robert blue was leading for i don't know if you've seen that
he was leading quite a bit and it was weird because i mean they had a they had a yellow
and he took off and he he just wasn't the same versus like man he like the dick with the shock so
that's what i thought yeah the dick thought well he uh showed afterwards on facebook uh so a couple
nights for that which uh the first they had the full picture on now you gotta click on it because
got the little graphic warning on it he had a fight with the grinder through i think it was
thursday night or wednesday night and he has a lot of stitches i mean the cut was really really
bad we got hit with a rock while weeding and he thought it ripped all the stitches off his arm
so he goes he was just holding on to what he could to salvage the finish and you know
did that cost him the race it might have i mean grant was fast yeah but uh blue was fast too and
i mean you can just tell something you can just tell it's like well dude what the hell just happened
to blue because i mean he was i mean swans couldn't catch him Cummins couldn't catch him
i mean he was pulling away from those guys then all sudden he just like and he was driving a little
different and that's what he said he goes you know the arm was i mean a rock oh he said something
he assumes there was rock but something zinged right where all the stitches was from the night before
or whatever and he he was i literally thought they ripped him out it ripped him out of my arm
and uh he took the bandage off and it was it didn't rip him open but or rip him out but it was
blood all over yeah it's like i think he still ended up fourth or fifth but that dude has i don't
his shop racetrack the dude does not have any luck whatsoever comes to entry
talk about somebody's been the shit beat out of him yeah broken neck broken back big stitches it's like
it's like me and but yeah it was a pretty good race i mean um the feature started off
was pretty good the heat races was yeah because it was pretty hammered down and a couple guys tried
like cb bought the wall you know he saw his his attempt i even glossed back or glass back or
glass back he he wasn't so lucky he hit it and destroyed a brand new car i think it was bad
yeah i shall be holding and they used the same car but uh then it blew up so my guess is
probably should the driveline was probably bent a little bit gotcha because it looked like
frame rails was bent but then they got the didn't scratch that car and go to back up they used the
same one and then it granated the rock rod was hanging outside the engine so i don't know if
the driveline caused that from the record but it was uh they're using all the ponies too yeah
because they said it was fast hammered down yeah it's everything i saw clip wise was like you said
cushion was halfway down the track couldn't widen out yeah been to those races before and like you
said track did everything they could yeah and like i said they sounds like they talked to drivers and
like no let's go Kenny Schrader was running he taught him in the heat race how to do it but
then they all learned his groove he's the only one kind of diet going up and diamond and down
off the stuff and won the modified heat race but the a main the couple other guys
know got that group too yeah he ended up i think four so uh for a seven year old man
he has a wheel on there pretty hard on a yeah that kind of track especially geez oh yeah well
we'll see more racing to come hopefully with these uh yeah there's weather and such but uh
hopefully we'll see uh see how things go are you uh planning on going to uh Montpelier yeah i'd like
to um see what the weather's gonna do if the weather's good it's dumb and i'm going i don't
know i haven't asked i do need that i forgot it was coming up yeah i'm 7500 doing this weekend i'm
kind of worried i don't know how it'll go if if they'll do it or not is historically if Attica
cancels that friday they've added late miles to saturday yeah i don't think they will this this
year i'd say it's not a good year just if montpelier's gonna race you know at tom x race and wing
county i assume has so i would i would think Wayne county is not racing sprint cars or the
racing 305 race savers because of Attica yeah my guess is i think they're they usually run late
miles yeah they guess is you know because you got mark them and some more and those guys yeah my
guess is they'll be like not adding them yeah i would think so um but yeah montpelier would be
the destination otherwise so we'll see where the mistler's gonna go it's gotta wait for uh
see what the weather's gonna do at this point yeah but i would think i'd think it'd draw some of
these guys if the weather's decent yeah i think for 75k that's big in our area 7500 yeah i know
easy don't commit our buddy suitor to more than he has trying to get a bunch of guys there yeah
7500 yeah and atomics racing iron man so that may you know well that's gonna take a few guys yeah
but that's why it'd be good for like uh ryan and devin and some of those guys to
go to month for sure because i'm sure pays because it's it's the ultimate right yeah i'm sure probably
pays four or five hundred bucks to start i would think i believe ultimate does yeah i would imagine
it's at least uh 500 to start the world of outlaw light models and i don't think they're
anywhere this weekend you might get tristan chamberlain a few of those guys i don't think
doubt all light models are racing this weekend i do not know i don't believe
oh it's northern all stars oh northern all at uh montpelier yeah i think the end of the seasons
the ultimate that's right okay uh super late models modifies and stockers racing at seven
on saturday so yeah you could uh could be all right yeah all right well the last bit of news i got
yeah we're not a lot of late models don't race until oh you know they race this we get into a
farmer city oh that's right so let me know yep the dwayne the best thing about going there um
thunderbird raceway in michigan uh announced on their social media then deleted the page it sounds
like uh ongoing negativity is taking its toll because of this thunderbird raceway is officially
closed somebody's feel good got hurt so a promoter that uh and then there was hints in the post about
you know paying all drivers and staff has been paid and now the long side support blah blah blah
and then you look at some other posts saying you know they changed the payout after the features
because they didn't have the money to pay the advertised purse used car counts as an excuse maybe
seem like the person wasn't very nice to drivers um except for certain ones don't know the full
story just uh throwing it throwing it out there so yeah it's very thin people thin skin people
anymore and if you're in this sport if you're thin skin you might as well play golf yeah because
this sport is not for the week if somebody saying something on facebook causes you to close your
racetrack you don't deserve being this business anyways yeah it's uh quite the interesting dynamic
and i mean pretty much racing is one of those like uh oh it's uh you know it's a thankless endeavor
100% and if you think you're getting accolades and all that and nothing against matt tiff but he
would be interested to see what happens if he don't have a big crowd and car counts because he
seems to be begging for money and car counts and i need to make money i need to make money and
yeah he seems like gonna be one of those guys gonna get his feelings hurt if they don't get a crowd
yeah and uh you know hey i know the guy's been in dirt late models in the last handful of years
in and out though um but i don't know if his pulse is yeah on the heartbeat necessarily yeah that's
what i mean i ain't saying he's a bad guy i think it's just the way he you know just like people
are bitching about camping you know he's gonna charge 50 or 100 bucks for dry camping tonight
and everybody's like screw you we'll go which you know why i need to make money i was like well
okay good for you you shouldn't do that when you bought you know there was some
deal there and he was starting to get upset about that so it's like this is in the NASCAR track dude
yeah what happens the first time you have a opening weekend and you're going against the outlaw race
or something and uh you get i think he'll be okay with the newness you know help him yeah at first
but when you're going against some of these shows my guess is he's gonna be on the losing end of some
of them yeah he's he's got you know a schedule competing yes and some dates and that's one of
those where you'll see how it ends up but yeah it's one of those it doesn't seem to help anybody
when that happens put it no not not at all and you gotta you gotta have thick skin and can't take
it personal and you gotta yeah and just some of his posts i think he might take it personal to be
honest yeah well and you know we'll get all kinds of money into the place well you didn't need the
big scoreboard the first year dude like you know i mean i get it with you know you want to make it
a time everybody in the sports knows how much money it takes yeah and begging like you need it and
that is not gonna help your cause yeah people ain't gonna come pay 50 or 100 bucks camp just
because you say why need money yeah everybody needs money in the sport obviously i can also go to the
campground down the road with full hookups for that much a night you know like gotta kind of
kind of feel it out a little bit but yeah um that's all i have a hard time camp tracks charging for
camping with no hookup anyways for shows especially especially i don't say regular shows but not
now if it's world outlaws or a high limits yeah or a high or soil yeah yeah if you got a big event
for you know 35 bucks or something yeah it's not a hundred yeah but if you're charging camp at every
single show yeah i just i don't get that yeah on ground you want a couple people to come buy your
concessions buy your tickets buy all that stuff and some people on a certain budget yeah we want
to camp stay have a good time bring the kids but now if you're gonna dick me for 50 or 100 bucks camp
yeah unless it's a big not like for the world all the way well i'll show down there 100 yeah 100
percent you should be charging came a bit for a fast show or uh iron man iron man yeah or this uh
motocross the other having a few charging camp for that stuff yeah you might want to rethink that
yeah because you want people to come especially your first year yeah so you want you want something
to be promoting to get people there not oh man now we gotta pay for this no we gotta pay for that
thing i don't even know what it is it'll door anymore to camp but it's not like for the big races
yeah it's like 99 bucks i think for the week so yeah like i think it's 85 bucks maybe yeah it just
depends what race yeah well like for the royal world dream yeah those races i think let's race to
and uh foreground now because i got so damn big but like if you go to the 18th for their opening
night it's free right park anywhere it's speed week and all that which it should be yeah you just
it's a marquee event to me it should be free camping yeah on dry camping for sure yes like
adica they have full hookups yeah they charge both have free or full hookup so they charge a little
bit which is still not that expensive i think it's like 40 45 bucks 35 bucks and adica 25 at
freema yeah so it's still not crazy but again you're getting a service for the money yeah you're
getting electricity water yeah a lot stuff so yeah so i guess that goes into one thing i wanted to
ask you mr pulse hand on the pulse of racing local racing especially um that ties in it's a good
good segue into i just thought of this i don't know what you're hearing what you have heard
and we know it's been a factor just for the pure cost but now with things you mentioned the price
of fuel yep we're kind of going back to 08 through like 2012 years where it got real freaking expensive
to race yep you're seeing it we're into that right now um and we haven't started racing fuels
expensive you're already seen effects that with jake tim falling off uh part of that was what rando
edwards or whatever no he was uh josh rice yeah but but they said they can't you know some of these
teams are cutting people because they said we can't afford got a high profile crew chief with three
or four other crew guys right now down the road you know so we're already seeing effects to this
yeah so have you heard much seen much talked to many people i mean local regional it's
it's usually a little harder yes i know some people are really looking at what they're racing
this year because yeah because let's say and we already know there's some nights there's four or five
maybe even six sprint car races the same night in Ohio so some might pay more than others but
with the cost of fuel if it stays up there especially diesel that five bucks a gallon most places
399 for regular yeah here in town so am i gonna go two hours one way and two hours back if somebody's
paying identical or okay they might be paying six thousand to win instead of four or five
one guy gets that okay it's 500 to start over here two hours away but it's 400 to start here
you can't you can't make up that hundred bucks no yeah no not one if you're going two hours back
and forth it's costing you a couple hundred two three hundred extra bucks so yeah i think there's
this year is going to be very interesting like i said i think that's really going to help some of
the teams um it's probably going to help attica fremont afcs i'm hoping so it's helping i mean i'm
getting 305s right and left and uh once i release the points fund which both are going to be higher
the four tens point fund is going to go up uh a little over like maybe 1200 bucks and 305 is
going up over four grand putting a lot of money in 305 because we've had right at 10 last last
couple years we haven't had we started off with 1415 cars and nine usually were on every show
and the 10th one kind of so and i've told these guys for us like you know you know we we're paying
good money we're paying 1300 bucks it's 1350 now for 10th and the four tens and you don't hit all
the shows you know you're gonna get like anywhere else you get a percentage of it that's like and
that really hasn't drawn guys i think this year is gonna be different because you know some guys
would go miss one or two shows over so i might go over here just for something stupid you know
so but i think you're gonna see a lot more people sticking closer to deals like that
so uh some of the extra money this year went to the 305s because they're showing out we had 36
members last year so uh they're getting a little over a four thousand dollar uh points increased
for 17 races yeah and some bonuses got a few extra bonuses and the people putting the bonuses up
like hard luck this year for 305s always paid 50 bucks gonna pay 100 because they're like hey you
know the tracks haven't increased their purses yeah still 200 bucks from 14th uh 20th and they're
usually the highest car count of the weekend usually so uh we're putting uh some more money
and four tens oh we raised it too so uh didn't raise first raised second to 10th so uh we'll
we'll see what happens yeah i think it should help afcs because 17 shows and it's over a 35
thousand dollar points fund and that's not counting another 13 thousand and bonuses paid
out during the year and products on top of that so but even to that stupid to that fact in in
sight of the business getting sponsors to sign up for it it's been bad yeah i've lost most sponsors
i ever have um and i've had several i want to say several five six to me that's several yeah
because when you're talking about a guy that's lost only two or three sponsors a year and some
i some years i haven't lost any i might i think one it took me two or three years to lose the
first one one time and it's like well what the hell did i do wrong nothing we're just you know
and it changed ownerships and we've had a few of that but uh you know for the most part we've had
the same sponsors uh each year you know and uh we started off a 30 some we got up the almost
15 hour back down to under 40 we lost 12 this year gained two new ones um both have never
shouldn't say it one has never been involved with us well both have never been involved with us the
ones business has been but he's not race guy uh the guy bought rich farmers fremont napastore
oh friend of mine um never supported racing never you know but uh not even local really
no where he's based out of no but i've talked to him because like i said he's a good friend of mine
i've talked to him the portents because fremont napastore even before farmer yeah it's always
been around yeah for that racetrack that supported that racetrack for years and it's
that racetrack's brought a lot of business not only race teams but fans to that napastore yeah
so i told him i like you know i said i've had a lot of people call and ask me that farmer
sponsoring for me to like i do i can't do that so i'm getting josh involved and i'm gonna take
him to the racetrack i said part of your sponsorship i want to take you to i said i'm gonna like you i
take parts to the racetrack and sell them to certain people but there is a shit ton of business
sitting here for you so you need to keep your name out there and i said i want to bring you to the
racetrack that's gonna be part of the deal which he is he can come pick a night i said i want to
introduce you here's your local guy yeah no i'll still bring shit to the racetrack but for your
whatever guys down the street yeah you know yeah it's like you need to go support him and um
he's eventually probably gonna own my store in all reality he's probably eventually gonna own my
store um he's made me offers several times already and he's um you know when i won out he's got a
standing offer with me um so uh but you know that tracks you know that store's been i mean
clear back to fred linder days and shit that you know what i'm saying early coming all days
now that that store has been big time with that racetrack in that community forever and i'm like
dude you you i know you don't understand it and you don't realize it but you need to get your
face out there and be like hey yeah i'm here to help you guys or you know i might not give away
as much stuff as farmer did or any of this stuff or some of these acts that i'm new to this industry
he is yeah you know and uh so uh but we got him on board and i got a new s and b concrete from uh
over that way of i don't even know the guy he messaged me it's like hey i hear you need a
sponsor like yep i do he's like i'm in so we got some new ones but yeah we lost some um
couple went out of business couples uh starting some race teams with their kids the couple's just
like tightening up the the streets yeah like hey you know it's been very tight right now which i get
and i got my own business i understand it but on the second part of that we've had some businesses
i've talked to and they're i said like man we're i don't know and we've always grew might be a
little short might go backwards a little bit this year and what do you need so i've had some that
stepped up like hey well to how much more you need or what do you need so we've had that so uh
we're gonna be good we're gonna pay out more money i believe than last year
got everything and waiting on one more thing but uh we're gonna have more money and the points for
sure bonuses are gonna be yeah i mean might same and see we pick up some stuff during the season
too so it'll be interesting to see what you pick up you look at a guy like cap henry who yeah who could
be champion of like the all-stars yeah very well could be there or race two tracks for three points
funds yep clear whatever 30 plus grand like he did last year and then you look at a guy like that who's
a local team but look at his earnings and it's like you're gonna expect someone like them to leave
their home area where it's literally a half hour drive yeah you know to attica and then right down
the street for fremont yeah or they're gonna race for six thousand instead of five thousand out in
bfe pennsylvania yeah or new york or new york and toe and or indiana probably have decent results
don't get me wrong but you're never gonna make up for that so a lot of teams like that it's like
they could make a step up but financially it right now especially doesn't make sense absolutely and
cap said that he goes you know and look what he won he won more money than every car on the
all-star circuit last year except for maybe kaleb henry if you if you count points fun
and i wonder how many teams maybe sign up for something like that or you know a little more
regional series and then say well guess just one up to five bucks a gallon so maybe we'll change
our mind you know yeah that's that's well and if you're paying tow money to 10 cars 10 cars is
perfect if you can stay on it yes if you can i don't know what tow money is yeah no clue what
it is right now but it's not it's not gonna be enough to pull pennsylvania back or new york and
back or southern indiana back compared to racing local but it might help you with the points but
our points one's gonna be pretty solid yeah i were we're uh we've got that at that point which
most of time in racing you're doing the traveling deal for the experience and the you know the
expansion of your notebook i'm hoping we're getting i mean we're gonna have gauge rc uh you know
coming in new but i'm hoping i'm hoping we get like darin nighta you know i don't know what that
team's doing yeah you know i mean like him i'd like it brice lucius i know he's been running
some outlaw stuff but he's not committed you know but we're gonna have some good money and uh
i upped like we're you know we're up to like four thousand dollars for third i mean we're paying
more money you know and that's just a fcs yeah that's not the track yeah that's for 17 races yeah
i mean yeah and we got uh about four five thousand dollar one shows this year too
and when we talk economics of racing we i i know i don't know if we've talked about it on here
but 305 seem to be kind of a god forbid if you try selling something right now yeah because nothing
is no no there's a lot of 305 stuff there but there's dude there's there's a lot of teams
and there's a lot of new ones yeah i know of at least one two three four
five just off the top of my head i know five brand new teams
yeah but a lot of guys are having trouble offloading shit too yes so it's kind of a weird
cycle there yes yes so that it'll be interesting to see what happens there i mean for sure and i
don't know if any there's a couple that's talking about moving up but then when things got expensive
like no yeah i mean stick for this another year and see what happens yeah there's a few that's
talking about moving up and i don't think any of them did yeah i mean Brandon Moore is you know he
is doing both last year but he's doing four tens um but other than that um i don't think anybody else
stepped up fully i mean there's a couple that's going to that's another factor that we have around
here is usually by the 305 and race you a few years and then you want to jump to the four tens
and that's going to be even harder now and you know and i love our tracks and that but
you know they're wanting 305 to be a feeder series for four tens which it is yeah lots guys
and that you look there's been a lot of guys but it has its own deal and that's why you haven't seen
a lot of purse increase because they're afraid okay we keep putting more money in there then
they're not going to jump the four tens but you got to do something because they've been the biggest
car counts and the first 5800 bucks yeah i mean it's there's same costs everything but the engine
you know so a point where it's going to be okay these guys and you see some of them going to 360s
yeah yeah you know because like okay we have four to four ten Mikey Keegan yeah yeah uh brian Kelsey
yep Kelsey yeah brian rasmine this year yeah and uh a few of those people because you know it's like
hey um you know we gotta do something yeah well it's either but jump to four tens and race your
same local tracks or do 303 60s which are a little more affordable still not crazy affordable but they
get a little more breadth of schedule too yeah well the problem is you gotta travel with those too
yes yep you know yeah yeah it'll be a telling i mean it's gonna be interesting there are 305s
i know at least five or six new teams yeah well hello port royal you see that
very night they had their 305s race saver ones or whatever saturday with a 43 wow 43
i didn't know they had 43 race saver 305s in pennsylvania i mean i think maybe some from
new york came but still 43 yeah yeah we did gloss over that opening lap wreck at port royal oh yeah
this is the big one this is a tall day a big one took out 10 cars yeah rocks your pops caught the
inside wall and looped it in front of everyone behind them and pile up she went yes took a lot of
a lot of cars out yes for sure so yeah yeah that was uh i mean it wasn't a nasty wreck it was just
i mean just collected a bunch yes broke a lot of parts a lot of very expensive yes
yeah but yeah i it'll be interesting i think you know it's funny because you brought you say it
i had somebody that's newer to the sport big listener of ours uh runs slide job cup
which uh i'm getting beat right now good i'm the lowest i've been in the three year history
it's bullshit i got brett marx he hasn't found this steering wheel or the throttle pedal yet
this year i got anything macri so that's how my team is going this year but anyways you know and he
was asking me because you know he he's he's newer to the sport and really loves sport and he's like
and he asked me the question he's ryan's like dude he's like can all these tracks and series that
sustainably survive this year you know because there's some nights and you know here's a guy that's
newer to the sport that's already smart enough to see hey wait a minute this series racing against
this series against this series this there's four series or five series racing the same night in a
while yeah like is this sustainable you know which i think it is it's going to be for the teams
now the tracks somebody's probably going to get it shorted on the stick at times
but i think it's going to be good for the teams because as we know there's been 80 to 100 sprint
cars races on a saturday night in our region so if you have four or five tracks everybody can get
a full feature man i you're probably not going to get 30 some yeah somebody might somebody might be
okay everybody's going here so i might go over here you get 18 20 yeah but yeah i think it's going
to be good for the teams because they're all going to make some money but it's the tracks are they
going to be happy with 20 cars and 18 and it's everybody but if you start looking and say okay
well man i should have went to sharon or i should have went to mansfield or i should have went to
to tommy or i should have went to wane county or i should have but you look at well hell they only
had i had 21 cars they had 18 or they had 22 and i had 21 you know i don't think you're gonna have
oh my god they had 43 cars and we had 12 i don't think you're gonna see that no i really don't so
i think it's gonna help the teams but but then you're gonna have fan issues exactly it's like
hopefully the fans are gonna understand too some will some won't yeah you know that okay
the days unless it's an all-star show outlaw or high limit the days of seeing 40 plus cars at a
very slim right now very tough i mean his first opening shows well not everybody's racing but
when everybody gets in full swing and you got four or five sprint car races the same night
you're you're probably not gonna see 30 in any of them yeah which is gonna be good for the teams
and actually probably what the sport needs to survive this year for the teams in all honesty
good spray and i hate to say that yeah because i want you know i'd like to see to me the perfect
show is 32 cars you got four eight car heat races a b-main and a-main you know um and you're
probably not gonna see that too much at all yeah especially on a saturday night yeah on a saturday
night um so but i really do think that's gonna help the teams stay afloat this year because
now you're gonna have a lot of teams i'm gonna guess guess there probably won't be hopefully
i mean there probably won't be a ton of b-manes there might be a certain nights depending on
why there's gonna make a big difference and how they're treated is gonna probably make a difference
too at places yeah feel appreciated yep efficient shows efficient shows and stuff and so it'll be
interesting to see what yeah it'll be what happens i'm curious to see how the fan count gets affected
yes because now you're paying a lot more for gas yep and but i think people stay local yeah
or i mean you're gonna travel guys that traveled maybe six or seven times out of their pocket
or out of their local might only do two or three this year i think i think you'll see i think the
big shows will still be fine but it's gonna be your medium shows yeah and i hate to say it but
maybe some of your all-star shows yeah if a local track's racing against them now luckily in Ohio
most of our tracks aren't but there's a couple that are so are you gonna get those people
are fast you know or maybe even a fcs you know i mean we don't we ain't racing against i don't
see any of our teams or really of our fans wanting to go when we have because of that because the high
gas prices yeah yeah i mean they're gonna go you're gonna pick pick one or two big shows to go to
i think and then rest of them i think you're gonna stay local yeah i think it'll be i'm
also curious when it comes to big shows that al dora yeah the royal and the world right i think
they'll survive oh they'll survive i'm just like we've been used to upping that ticket sales the stands
selling you know world 100 we sold out so it seems wrong both of them sold out this last year so it's
like well maybe we you know you'll still get 20 000 but i think you'll i think both those will still
because you're gonna have some people don't go but you got new people i want to come you always see
new people wanting to come so i think those two shows are be fine um i think all the big shows
like that will be fine i think they'll be fine i just you know we've been breaking records here
after here i wonder if that trend stabilizes yeah it probably just stabilizes but you know what i get
some of these marquis not marquis late minor races you know i'm saying some of those how are they
gonna be yeah i'm not talking al dora but you know there's a lot of 25 30 000 to win we want to make
these car well i don't know what the car crowds was like but we already seen you know look at southern
all stars over the weekend 21 cars for our 20 cars for 21 000 to win yeah you know now that's
like there's a caveat it's tazwell well yeah you know that's always kind of been a bastard of a track
lately you know years ago was fine but not the way the cars changed it's just different but did you
see the fans and the parking lot was it packed there was a lot of good yeah i mean so where you
have a negative one i think they made up for it in other ways right so and 20 cars to me if you
got a full a main that's all you really need yes i mean i'm more interested i want to say interested
i think it'll be you know something to observe is when you go for a lucas oil late model show
that's 10 or 12 grand to win on a regular a regular lucas show at said track you know
is that gonna be the right the caveat it used to be you know like you said it's a it's a marquis
event but it's also kind of a non marquis like we're used to them coming like right that's the
thing we're like adica it'll still be packed for word of outlaws because diehard sprint car fans
that's what we do but when you go to these tracks where it's kind of been the same thing every year
race and repeat is that gonna suffer i i don't know right you know because you're talking 35 40
bucks to get in the pit in the stands yeah and you know i mean this year money's more tight you
know are you traveling four hours one thing that was brought up to me already with the 305 show we've
got invited we're racing with the outlaws in october and i already told uh told him at free or at
uh mill stream mill stream that needs to be a bigger purse because i've already had several
our teams like dude if it's a world all pit pass which is gonna be 50 55 bucks to get in we're not
coming you know yeah we're not coming for the same purse we have to yeah which i'll blame because
they're paying 20 basically 20 bucks almost 20 depending 15 bucks more person they'll have 200
300 bucks in pit passes yes you know yeah so that's big and so it's gonna have to be a bigger purse
which uh they said i could have a bigger purse i told him i'd like 300 and start and they didn't
seem to balk which you know it's 100 more and you're racing with the outlaws and it's a thursday
night you know yeah um but yeah there has to be you know if they got four guys and they're paying
15 extra bucks pit pass you know so they're paying 60 extra dollars but if we get 100 extra to start
then what they're used to so i'm trying to make up for yeah to but it has to be you know we're
gonna have to have a over a nine thousand dollar purse to get in cars because you know like said
and we're we're traveling them down to middle stream yeah kind of other element some cars are
from that area or closer to that area most of them aren't so we're traveling a little farther which
they they want to do it not but they're like i've already had several teams like dude what's
pit pass is gonna be is it same as the outlaws like yeah they're like oh i like well trust me
the purse is gonna be bigger they know this they know it has to be you know i mean it has to you
know and i want to be i want 24 cars i said i would like to start 24 like the outlaws and
you know i if we get 24 i'd be happy we've had 24 there before and paying more money and so i'm
hoping uh but that's things you gotta look at mm-hmm that's things you gotta look at and
for me to try to sell the track like hey i love and our guys love you want us to be part of this
deal you gotta realize this is a lot bigger ticket than what they're used to paying so we
can't pay them to see me we can't even pay them what we paid him last year we need to pay him a
little more to get a you a decent show you know we don't want 10 cars we don't want 12 cars you
know one it's on a Thursday so all of our guys majority of our guys work yep so you're already
handicapping yourself a little bit handicapping yourself a little bit there um but it's late in
the season so it's not like they're in a points race to anything else that so i think i think maybe
we'll draw maybe maybe a few three or five race savers don't know chance to race against the
outlaws mm-hmm chance to travel a little bit yeah so we'll see but that's things you gotta look at
and for me is my job to sell the tracks like okay i know you paid a bigger three or five person what
they did to get them down here last year um but now we're gonna have to just bump it a little more
because here's why it's not we're not trying to you know take advantage of you we're not trying to
because we want the best show we i've loved that our guys are going to showcase with the best in
the world yeah you know and i everybody appreciates 100 that you picked us to be the support deal
but you know we're gonna need a little bit so our guys can we can get our best guys there
you know yeah it's gonna be wild to see how late models turn out around here because yeah you know
we talked before we started recording oak shades got what six open dates now no late models on the
card correct so they're gonna run ump modified for 1200 win which is very good money but they're
running with the sportsman class so it's gonna be combined you're gonna have full funded sportsman
cars and open wheel modifies running in in the same class because as we all know the sportsman
class that oak shades all but dead yeah i mean 13 14 cars show up if that yes so now
they're way of fixing that which trust me i think it's great that modifies you get an opportunity
to race eight times but eight times they're gonna be at oak shade and they're running them with the
sportsman to try to boost that um hopefully i won't discourage a lot of the modifies from coming
but then six of those eight shows the late models are off the card which has never happened at
oak shade no that's a new one yeah so uh there's gonna be some nights that some of the oak shade
regulars a are gonna have off or can go somewhere else but and i'm not against them having some
nights off because as we know you know you've you've talked to devon you talked to ryan you've
talked to other late model guys now your family owns a late model you know well and you own devons
i guess yeah so uh but the the deal of going somewhere 20 24 25 times run for a track championship
nobody wants to do that yeah i mean they would like some nights off
so it actually might help oak shade a little bit uh with their local late models and keeping that i
mean they're down to 18 20 weekly but it might help keep that instead of by the end of the year
people will be out of money and be down to 13 14 you know yeah um but you know our purses around
here are you know we know attica's boosted theirs and and they're going the right direction but
that's why like ryan sutter at montpellier having this race saturday is actually good
because 7500 that's something guys will travel a couple hours for one do you see he has five or
six late models yeah it's all either five grand or more yeah northern all-stars ultimate
iron man yeah yeah they're all five or thousand or more and he's got five or six i mean ryan's
ton of money on the line this year from up hill yes and he's racing a lot so hopefully
people support it yeah uh butler's got iron man coming yeah for a couple times five grand to win
hell tour the hell tour so you know we got more common it's just not as centrally located as maybe
others but i'm hoping they just like all guys to travel i mean yeah late model guys in this area
forever i'm friends with a lot of that the bitch the bitch's about no money yeah that one there's
a big money show they don't go to it yes so yep here's a clue if you want to keep these big money
shows go support the big money show yeah yeah especially like butler they've done a lot to
improve things and yeah you know last year for the what may race that they had like the track was
kind of dog shit and dried out and they did the best they could but it's not like that every time
and right you know tim knows oh not quite right well we'll improve things so you know
every track has an off night i don't care what it is yeah we've been we've seen some doctor races
at al dora you know every track i've been to you've seen them yeah i'll carry a dirt it's dirt track
racing yeah it's kind of a lucky of the luck of the draw one same consistently go the pavement
track which oh wait we've had three of those shut down on a hill this year yeah i mean speaking of
you went to shady bowl i did yeah i did i forgot about that that we hadn't recorded a couple weeks
ago yeah yes yeah 80 some years old unique very very unique yeah i got the crick running down the
middle i threw it comes in three and four and goes all the way through the middle and out one and two
and it's not covered in the infield or anything there's a little spot there's a couple of telephone
pulls but uh yeah it's a there's a lot of water running through it the day i was there i like
because we know how much rain there's been yeah the parking lot was a little soft too i was kind of
like oh this could be fun yeah and it's in the absolute middle of nowhere yeah you go down flowing
well road which is about type of road you would think it is by the name but yeah i mean
very unique um you go downhill so the biggest bank on the track is the back stretch
and it's like the front stretches like a dog leg almost you're basically turning
there's a little dip in the turn one then you go uphill and turn two and you go higher up in the hill
on the back stretch then you go straight downhill into turn three then turn four you go a little
farther downhill then there's a big wash out and a little bump and turn four where if you get your
left front off um the front fender rolls over and sometimes uh bangs this fender up or you drag
or if you hit it a little above it your left front tire goes off the ground and i don't know how in
the hell you set a car up for it to be honest there's three different corners uh about eight
different bankings but it's a good show we had a good time yeah that was uh that was cool uh
dude they're having the 350 super modified sir that ohio yeah and they're having a wing 305 i don't
know how in the hell you can spend a set of sprint cars especially super modified that's yeah
a half inch off the ground you say those things are glued to the ground that thing i don't know how
three and four i mean they got a bottom out to beat hell through that area but uh um very reasonably
priced concessions do pop was like three bucks uh hamburger was five cheeseburger was six uh like
chicken fingers and fries was or chicken strips and fries like six or seven but i mean yeah very
very reasonable um big crowd it was looked like a decent crowd it was a big crowd uh seeding's
unique kind of so they have some hill seeding then they have grandstand seeding and then they
have cement slabs on the hill which i found out it's reserved all year long um so uh we ended up
sitting on those um because we sat right behind those but then people come to sit on the cement
slab so you really can see and then the hill there's a few level spots on the hill but most of it's
not level on the hill so uh we talked to a couple locals they're like ah you know these guys ain't
always hearing who knows first race season just slide on up here if it's once they get ready to
start so we end up at uh yeah i mean uh people sit right on the fence sometimes uh with their
chairs uh right against the fence so it's kind of unique but uh very unique place very unique
play i mean yeah it was a good show very well run show so for the late model amane holy crap
the late model amane took like an hour and six or seven minutes all four other amanes
ran off in less than an hour total combined modified's went 50 laps green checker in 12
minutes oh wow yeah good for them yeah and the street stocks went green to checker 50 laps
in like 15 minutes nice so yeah i mean there's some some decent racing but uh yeah it's unique i
think uh i'm glad i went uh ran into a dirt nerd fan kevin ah so kevin from uh um sydney area
cool let's see i think his last name's bear bird
baity i'm sorry kevin baity see i um but it's funny because we stand in concession line which
the only complaint probably would be maybe the concession would be a little bigger but
or faster but it was a huge crowd so i get it concession line was pretty slow so they had a huge
crash and uh i knew it was gonna take a while because there's an oil or fluid down in that so
i'm just getting lying kevin's like um are you the dirt nerds guy
he said yeah he goes i thought you had to be because i don't look at you know i haven't seen
any pictures or videos or anything but he's like uh he's like i was supercross last night
you know so he's he's he's a listener for sure one one of the one of these fake guys um
and so i told him and he's like well he said i figured because he says i hear you talk and he's
like you're gonna be at this show and you're gonna be a show and he tells i see you at all these
shows it's like he's always telling me he goes that has to be him i just has to be him so uh
um so we talked in line for how he's probably lying 20 minutes so good talk with him and
he lives right by there he says uh he always grew up going there and uh so he says he still tries
to a couple times a year two three times because it's you know well it's 70 or 80 year old tracks
that's local when he goes he goes today's been pretty good he goes some nights is good here
some nights are you know you might be here a long time which i could see they might mess around some
a little bit but uh they ran that show very well but uh yeah so got to meet kevin cool dirt nerd fan
thanks for listening uh but it's cool talking to him he travels a little more goes el doran he was
he was gonna go to paragon last weekend if it didn't rain out and you know he travels
travel some and uh try and travel a little more so very cool the only thing i seen wrong with him
he had justin grant shirt on i didn't tell him that that day but no gotta give him a little crap
of course found a dirt nerds fan at the pavement track yes yeah pavement nerds and red was there
oh yeah her old rod was there for sure i see that dude like just everywhere he's retired now well
kind of he's working actually for horsemen's a little bit oh cool on their on their farm doing
some stuff helping but he's retired from his other job so he's going more race yeah very cool
but uh yeah seen red there and some people so uh yeah met a dirt nerds fan oh speaking of that
hung out with another dirt nerds fan at supercross oh yeah yeah woofy oh yeah that's right he he asked
me if i was going i said no and he goes well i'll text i said dwayne's going though i goes i'll text
him i didn't realize he had your number but yes woofy uh texts me and uh well first i was like
which i knew he had my number but i must never saved his because i get this text like
hey you're going to supercross and i'm like yeah well what are you getting there i'm like you know
so i look up there called montana oh that's gotta be woofy i remember we had so uh i told him well
we we we actually went the night before stayed in motel that way we beat the which
two thousand smartest thing i ever did yeah it was a little expensive for
but all the greek town area is under construction like all the you you have to walk down a little
narrow sidewalk with the fences up because they're pouring concrete all the roads are tore up you
i mean traffic you know it's pretty shitty traffic downtown there anyways at any event
well now you add road you can't go down half those roads by greek town so the ones you could
were lined up for miles i mean miles and some places were as convenient was 80 bucks to park
oh yeah so we went up casino night four for you to park not 80 bucks and you're walking up to that
was a smart thing because i would have not done well and waiting in that traffic the way i was
so that that was a very smart move so if you're going downtown detroit for anything for a while
near greek town you might want to see if the roads are open because that was a pain but yeah
anyways uh wuffy so usually they don't open detroit real early but they did this year because they
started practicing a lot of shit like at noon and usually they don't open door to like five so they
did this year so wuffy got there right at 12 of course he can't go casino yeah yeah so uh he's
much a man when you get here like of course we slept in got in late uh they gave me an extended
check out so then we went eight so we got there maybe four so he came right over our seats beside
us was empty so heck he sat there till he got kicked out so he sat there for a couple hours we
was talking and stuff and uh yeah so yeah he's been quite the traveler this year yes he's working
for our good team part time still gonna try for work for destined angle some and uh yeah he's got
to do some opportunities he was talking about uh with some different racing things and so yeah
i told him i said well you might run into leila um oh yeah let's start she just uh got her first
motorsports job this week cool a feeder team to imsa that's based in brownsburg uh um so she's
gonna be on that here she's in her first race that she's gonna be by herself she's gonna
shadow for the first race it's gonna be middle hot not cool it's not the indy car weekend it's
different weekend but still so uh yeah in the spirit this series pretty cool there's a lot of
drivers that came from this series that uh you wouldn't have thought it's a good deal so uh yeah
wuffy uh it was good talking wuffy we had good talk about and we talked about michael leech a
little bit how well he's doing at the beginning of the year that's where randall edwards is now by
the way yeah yeah helping them out so very cool well we did an hour and 20 plus minutes so dang good
for us yeah we was gonna cut it off like 45 minutes yeah i knew i could get you going i wasn't worried
on something uh so we got nothing else to talk about how about you no i don't think so so next
week we'll be off but then the week after that we'll start every week um yeah i usually try to make it
around attica's opening and then we start going every week but obviously we haven't had that and
around here in general we haven't raced much so um yeah we'll get off next week but the week after
we will hit it hard and be back for every week it's all right i'm cheating on you a lot when we're
off that's fine that's got our buddy dirt cork jester yeah i got his deal gonna take off because
doine's gotta go on all kinds of other podcasts and cheat on us so dirt rowdy nation there you go
can't help it i'm one of the guests i don't know you're you're a popular guy that's all there is to
it i'm the face of dirt nerds kind of it's kind of crazy to think i can't stand seeing you every
week almost and all these people want to talk to i know it's kind of weird yeah maybe if they did
every week they wouldn't either yeah all righty well thank you everybody for listening thank you
for tuning in appreciate you each and every week we'll get to racing one of these days hopefully
around here until then as always stay dirty and we will see you next time bye
About this episode
Spring weather chaos dominates the Dirt Nerds chat, with multiple Ohio and nearby events delayed or rained out and tracks trying to squeeze in late-model and sprint schedules. They recap standout wins across late models, World of Outlaws, and Lucas Oil/High Limit action, plus a big injury update: Anthony Macri’s back injury after another sprint-car crash and the debate over seat/belt mounting tech. The hosts also dig into racing economics—fuel costs, sponsor pullbacks, and why regional points/purses (especially 305s) may be the key to keeping teams afloat.
This week we return and talk about some of the racing from around the country where the weather wasn't a problem. We talk about Anthony Macri's injury in PA, late model races in the south and how the economy may affect racing this season.
