49 Perfection comes in the form of two letters a year. if my
LTD, Walk, the cartel gets me mad EJ, join online with Rizzi rice actor. Scotty do Johnson, Patrick never
met Rob and dairy. Ha ha he's not there.
And mr. David Princeton Edward bunting
in the background serving up some pasta.
How are you guys? That are that have been around.
Hell, are we all good? Good, pretty good.
Very good. Good steal.
The the gods are shining Upon Us.
Hopefully, that that would be a good thing Debbie.
Good to see you. Hopefully you're feeling better
hope how you been going? Yeah, yeah feeling better.
So yes, back at work busy, very good.
Well, let's get into it first and foremost, welcome back.
Ricky Ross, he's been He's been on a mission around Australia.
He is he is now mr. Mr. International mr.
Mr. National and international Rizzi rice man.
Where Have You Been updates with you dude?
We haven't seen you in a very long time.
Well things have been heating up in Legoland and as part as part of that, as part of the building blocks needed, I've been, I've been missing, I've been commissioned to literally there was one week I was in like, Four cities in a week.
So I started off in Brisbane, Sydney Newcastle Canberra, Sydney Canberra Sydney and then back to Melbourne, well, and now Hobart devonport and going to Launceston tomorrow.
So just just, just being around. Like I said, I think I got an
offer letter from Telstra today, signing in for the next day at, I've Been Everywhere, man. That's that's where that's where
things are going. But, yeah, that's that's just
being around apologies for not being able to make it but yeah, you know, Maddie Maddie, Maddie reached out today and I said, look, I got to be on the show, man.
No. Need to apologize apologize,
dude. But you've been, you've been be
going to launches and drawing on your car's.
What? Launches have you been to fill
us in men? Or are you embargoed to not say
anything? Although happening that I look,
I'm not like car exits but in others, you know what I mean?
I can talk about embargoes and that sort of crap being drawn.
Mean byd had a launch up in Brisbane.
They had a launch many months ago in Sydney.
So their car is about to be released, customers are expect to get deliveries pretty soon in the next week or so.
Is it many pre-orders a 4000 and He's even test driven, the car.
Well, okay, so the demands definitely there, then when I was in Sydney, had a pole, star hurts launch so hurts.
You can hire a pollster to from hurts now anywhere in the country, so did that and then then pulsed, Australia, gave me a car for about a week and said, do whatever you want with it.
So I did 2,000 cases in three days drawing between Canberra and Sydney and back. Just, they had the National
Conference there, which was good.
And then then did a bit of a road trip video with YouTube video. Dude, Tom on the little road
trip, sort of looking at the charges at Goldman and the rest of it, coming down to Canberra and back, and then I was back in Melbourne for a couple of days. And then yeah, this opportunity
came up to come down to Tasmania and Drive around in a Hertz Polestar to carve going from various different location.
They said, just do whatever you want with it.
And just give us honest feedback as to what sort of experience can potential people looking at renting, a, any V, what, what, what's expected of them? And what, what do we need to do
to help them have a better, hire, a TV experience, So it's been 80, grit ease of things. How do you charge?
How do you, you know, like what are some of the intricacies with these V's that I guess, most people would not have had a chance to, you know, they would be one of the first experiences.
So yeah, just doing that this week and then back in Melbourne next week. Nice, man, nice.
Well, that's that's dude. You've been you've been
traveling around, man. How have you found the the
Polestar, to compare to your tells us, I saw the picture you sent me today of because you took your Tesla on the spirit of Tasmania. Mania correct?
Yeah so that's it. Made the journey that was that
was good. Yeah no it's good.
The pulse does. I think it's the right step up
for from traditional car into an EV because it's very it's based on the Volvo platform. It's similar to the, you know,
the XE 40s or the 60s that you get these days.
It's very similar in terms of even the steering wheel.
I mean, I compared it after dry. The one in Canberra came back
and had a look at Brothers just to make sure and all the button placements are the same only it hasn't got the pole star logo and it's just gonna wallow in it.
So it's a good. It's a really really good kind.
The Google system is very easy, the maps and the navigation, and all of that is really well thought of a good fun car.
I think it's probably the most fun car to drive as an EV after the the model 3. But it has its got a lot to
offer. Okay.
And you also offer the taken drawing some take a while before a while back. Yeah.
So it did that in Queensland to three months ago and yeah that was that was fun. Personally speaking hope not
Porsche people are on here I prefer the pulsed over the taken and taken that taken was 320 Grand, I think.
Well, okay, so this this pole star, even the hurts one that I'm driving at the This probably around 70 75 thousand.
It's not a cheap, but seventy seventy five thousand but it's a lot of car for. It's got nearly 400 km of range.
It's drives like a wallet rides really nicely.
It's not as stiff as a model 3 but yeah, no overall.
It's it's a good car Volvo Dover Polestar.
Just Can't Get Enough into the country.
They they won't until we get fuel emission standards.
They won't release as many cards because they've got to produce them for markets where they wanted.
Don't know that that's awesome, dude.
Well, it's, uh, it's good to have you back first, firstly.
And, you know, really happy that, you know, that your work with it with the Germans going very well, and I'm with Carl Loop and so yeah. So keep up the good work because
we're all, you know, going for you here.
Yeah, we're with Team really Ross hundred percent, so we're representing. You know.
I said, I started I started with the legends.
And it's time to come back to the Legends, you know I'm saying? Always, man, always.
Well, that good things, big things happening with you with you with you Ross but yeah good to have you back man.
Scotty forget the exam from yeah car talk for a DJ and Ed and pretty much everyone else just saying yes, Scotty do updates with you my friend. Thanks with me.
You would have saw on the weekend.
I posted a couple pictures and bits and pieces, actually on Friday is when I post them up and checked out my delivery of everything. So check that the suspension b
or brand-new pieces, which would be nice to fit.
Yeah, I got the spark plug leads.
I think I already mentioned that one.
And the what was it, the controller as well to plug in.
So I was going to do that before I had a bit of time to do that but I've got to remove the intake and everything so I'll take a bit longer than I thought.
Yeah. So to remove a whole bunch of
stuff just to get to it because yeah, it's held on by two screws, this was just wear that bottom screw is you need to remove a lot of stuff to get to it, which is do not write not very distant design, know it's weird.
Usually everything so easy to get to is Japanese cars.
Can you please? Can you please call Nissen with
like an old person's voice and just be like I bought I bought my nisshin Skyline back in 1990 and and I've had to change something on it and you just just don't complain about our cards, 40 years, old practically distinct patterns.
Yeah, Ariel button. While pressing the up button,
it's not going up. Many Borden in 8900 what's not
working order? Refund order issued warrant e
warranty. Yeah I don't know what they do.
Toby Walker did hang up. The phone is what they did.
Yeah, they're probably they're probably pay you out and buy it and put it in their head office Museum.
It's time to read because they've got a few retro cars.
They're like The Jetsons and the rest.
Hell yeah, Scotty would be r31 listed if they buy it off me.
For the last time I was there. They had a 32 or 34 and the GTR
like that are 35. Yeah.
Well, so they're missing a 31. I reckon that's where it needs
to be. Yeah.
Come and get it out the checkbook.
That's it with a car stuff. But I did get my magazines
arrived to The 32 33 and 34 gdr magazines, there's heaps of stuff in them. They're pretty thick.
It's got like lists every single model, like the ones that I showed last time it's got those kind of stuff in it so it's got all the Motorsport information in there too and all the special models. So like the r33 one's got a hole
right up and everything about the 400 are not school.
So it's got everything all about that.
The engine, all the specs and stuff is Old in it, and that's for every single one. So, 22, 23 and 34, definitely
the father dies, the ultimate spa.
And it just is. Yeah, absolutely based.
And they were all in Japanese and I Scotty.
Yes. Yeah.
And then my super duper best friend has got me something as well. That would be on its way.
Yes, the way I was 10. Department of my weekend and
found a secondhand Shop full of full of Workshop.
Manuals. And no, no, it's actually an
incredible amount of stuff and sitting on top was a number of Skyline GTR Ozzy spec proven true sheets like these It's with the customers name and they've got the, you know, the bit that you get inside the service because it's all filled out, you know, with who did in all the ticks and on that.
There's at that. Yeah, well, I bought them for
him. I've said, is how many free
deliveries can you do school? That's right.
That's right. Well, yeah.
Can we pre deliver your 31 kid? Can we, can we redo it as soon
as I can? I'll walk around it.
And I'll give my opinion on whether it's ready for free delivery or not. We're obviously it was obvious.
Ali like a noose and part and there's space whenever the customers name and the stock number of the car and all that on the front of it, Scott Johnson scores on all of them.
But like a three-page thing and you open it up and underneath all the bits you fill out. This is a great skeletal, sort
of diagram of the car and stuff like that soup, grommet Wheels, facing Steve bill Stood tired, I forgot to say about twister.
It's got to do one of these turn around and I don't think I've actually fixed I've left it. So that was just a Karma thing.
I figured if anyone found you know on the Scamp you know, accessory Bros, you'll likely, you would get that someone, hopefully buy it for me will send it to me.
So you know I'm very, very thankful.
You're welcome. I'll share it on the next one.
When I get it. So pretty pumped, excellent eggs
and you'll have quad quite the library.
I would suggest after this. Oh yeah, it's going to be nicely
displayed. I've got ideas and honesty.
I've got some old. I've seen being posted up with
Facebook and that people got old print ads that I've just kind of like removed from old magazines and stuff like that.
I want to get some of those and actually in the garage when house is built, I want to put them up in the air.
Raj, loss and have some of those.
I cannot believe these guys show entails.
So instead of going to a third seed, in 2023 to the museum, we're heading to Scotty's Place. Indeed, indeed, it's my
signature pant as curry spice rack up to mind have barbecue in the 21. Yeah, I was just going to say,
Okay. Oh yeah. 31 will be ready for
that? It better be.
So it benefits coming holidays. I'm going to be absolutely flat
out of tons of parts to fit and take these original wheels off to get new ties slapped on him, not too fast.
You know. Hopefully I might get my
aftermarket rims will be ready during then, but if not that's okay at least they'll be Wheels ready to roll.
Anyway. If I can't get those But I'll
still be going, so yeah, it's going to be pretty busy flat-out. These coming holidays, he'll be
waiting School. Excellent.
Patrick you man. Your mom had a good one of the
weekend so you're a prize fan. Static, still young man.
Monday matches. I'm a little weak, man.
We going crazy. Linda Bender.
That's it. I'm gonna crush this weekend,
buddy. I hope so.
I hope we hope you pump it. We'll see.
We'll see. Let me enjoy this moment update.
Where do we? Where do?
I begin? Where do I begin?
Yeah, so with the master. So I had an issue with the Masa
Ashley. Just until recently, she was
dead temporarily know what happens to me.
Try and sell a car. Yeah, and I was straight after.
They are actually do have a very high potential, buyer may start from work, we've been talking back and forth, so hopefully sometime this week come to an agreement.
But yes, so the Amanda was time after he first got the car.
Next day the temperature measured in start, she would crank over but she wouldn't get any any spark.
So obviously I thought that was strange.
Oh yeah. Well the arm and you have time
to work on it. So I was drying my brother's 80
series for the time being so when I did have time because I don't want you coming home, I looked it up.
Pull the plugs out and Just saw the spark plugs.
We're not only were they black, but they wet as well.
So I was flooding. The engine was flooded.
This is strange, granted. I did give it a couple goes
after, you know, phone, ringing out, why, it wasn't studying stuff. Partially was my fault.
So I thought, okay, you know, this is a strange I tested if it was so spark in the spark plugs were fine in the coils were so okay. He was still this was parking
has a cranked it over. This is your Modern Master 3,
this is our modern massive 311 Master 3 2010, Mazda 3 and I'll find it. I stood I find it so funny that
I've had more problems with discard.
That did with my 2006, xr6 Falcon.
I'm sorry. I'm going to put out there.
My Exile 6:00 until the semester threes.
That's what I thought. That's clearly not.
Anyway, I remove them one, the fuel lines as well to see if me was getting feel. Some say it is getting fuel so I
did some more diagnosing. I'll just like checking around
Tinker around with the car. Have me up, mailman came part to
come have a look because obviously isn't mechanic I'm not. He said, I'm sorry.
What did he say? As would profess, he brought a
brought and he's brought a bunch of tools.
I saw your brother a compression test kiss, Kate and I will shut myself, but maybe I've lost my mind but what it turns out to be Was actually the negative terminal on my battery was loose. And a cappella only when he said
it's that I would say it was still getting.
It was still getting a charge, charging was still kicking, I've got but it wasn't strong enough to charge causing the engine to flood causing Edge not to start. So obviously once we tied it at
that did some you know backyard Arabic Annex you know, getting a pain to make it tiny because obviously the battery I've since I bought the car, maybe I'm integer variable there are so no put a different varied than what the The factory one was.
So, the terminals were bit smaller.
See, when a client when you tighten, it wouldn't stay as tight. So, we just got a nail to wear a
Janelle Gap. Worked, and yeah, after a few
cranks, you know, it's out of sight.
So far. Yeah, she's been starting up
every time I have had no issues with it, which is good because I need to get rid of it. So I can buy potentially a Hilux
for what I lack something. Yeah, I mean it ain't gonna
really let me. Let me, let me let me explain.
What you have gonna buy us. Yes, that's not that's not
changing. That's not changing.
That is going to happen. The dream is course, is so I
will get them is 13. But with my current
Circumstances, as with work. And you know how the direction
my life is going, I mean, it's more.
I'll say it's more the word, it's more articles.
In fact, more sensible, more practical for me to get a used.
So, obviously uknow where you? So, I'm looking at a big boy.
I know, I'm changing. So, I'm looking at our From a
1999 to 2004 2005 SR5 highlights the and 60s with the one with the 1 k n. So 1 K ZT e, the 3 liter turbo
diesel which is the last Japanese.
But I believe Blackness japanese-built Hilux which was the most notoriously. Most bulletproof Motors till
this date that much. How much are these highlights
has a bug of some clean ones. Good ones with you know, 240 270
thousand kilometers which is pretty good for his age around around the 13 to 15 Mark. Okay.
Not too bad. So that's that's that's why I'm
trying to go with the older model Hilux.
I was thinking of Navarra until a bunch of people slapped me and said, don't even think about it. The d-22 is quite good.
Then tomorrow's the D40 that's what I thought d-22 is were good, but they also know they are becoming a hand grenade because there's that, the Third Is, which is a similar measure that using the patrols to say stay away.
Okay, the 2.5 liter turbo 2.5 is a bit better than the three
leaders but there's so just as bad and they say plus there's what we did 6:40, torsion bar so they ultimately said stay away.
So we go for driving when you get a hundred percent I mean I'm gone camping with some boys with work in a few weeks as well so if I have it by then they'll be perfect and I already have And it's kind of bad. I want to bring the Pajero 100%,
bring the Pajero I'm or they can all laugh at me.
Want to put a awning. I want to do all this camping
stuff for us. So spend more money by wink, put
a, we do everything to and again, again to the, for be life. So yeah, the estimating will
still happen, that's something that will never change.
It's just that for right now, it would be more practical, would be more practical for A to get a car that I can use for work as well rather than having an s13 in the shed and having a card that, you know, you're buying a cheap car.
That's barely holding materials, or more tools and everything.
Yeah. So I practical Patrick just be
careful with those monsters. Like, they're very good.
But the front diffs because they're ifs.
They they can be bit brittle and all got it.
That had the broked or so but it but he took his emotional Many people have yeah, that's what I see.
I've been pushing it really hard.
You know, you can't break them very easily.
What's the price of diesel, Patrick?
So the turbo Diesel's the arm because they came over to the 2.73 RZ petrels activity moved easily means the fuel as the
two-dollar, something a leader. Well the snake oil, the good
stuff. I'm your turbo Diesel's.
I'm seeing him a like I said, Around the around 240 to say 300,000 km Mark, you looking around between 13 and 15 gram and Diesel itself is what dollar two dollars a dollar ninety or $2 or two teams or something 22, doubles, it's kind of silly the Diesels, so excited. I'm so pretty.
No, I can't believe in myself that I'm buying.
I've always loved them. But I always said to myself, you
know, it wouldn't own movie Practical for me, however, changing life that it's now become practical for me.
So, you know, it's kind of exciting getting into another, you know, scene of cars completely different.
So just tell me again. What was that from?
They, the so that and 60s as they were firm that they go.
Don't worry in produced from I believe 99 or 98 till 2004 or maybe just early 2005 year. I had two of them to .7 s
petrol. I didn't even have decent Stout
to or drives and then I've got a 4 liter 66, you know, six.
So for later SR5, those four leaders hummina East and they drink too. Oh yeah.
That is my mates. Got the arms of 4-liter V6.
A 6. I think it's the 1gr.
Was it broken? No.
No. Is there one KD turbodiesel. 2.8
after totally got the V6 and yet he definitely definitely is a drinker. Definitely thirsty.
But it does pull hard that I give him that.
So Rob Not much. Look at him any updates from the
dealerships with my cars that I've got an order.
Mmm, Then I've sort of done a lot of reading about him, but as soon as he put bigger wheels on them
and what not, they are quite capable, but not very good on fuel. Once you start putting bigger
wheels on them, mmm, because I only got a small motor.
So there's sort of a struggle, a little bit, on a highway, with the bigger Wheels. They were never great on the
highway. But, anywhere else.
Brilliant. Yeah.
So let's see, I'll go look at a bull bars.
Maybe a lift kit. That's what Elijah toys, but I
want getting big. Okay, driving to with Patrick in
our yeah, fun. It needs to go.
Get a diff lock, is put on it and stuff like that.
So I'm gonna hang up on him. So, I go around the corner, he's
got one in Jungle green, and he's up in my Slimline snorkel on the a pure, the drivers, a period.
Almost like a doesn't have a snorkel.
It just it's the same color, it's Jung.
We're green color coded and it looks so slim, it's the best design snorkel I've ever seen. So I don't know who makes that,
but Islam is not restricting for a supposed to be.
Okay? So look at the few bit, maybe
some rock sliders on it, something like that and just yeah. When do you get it?
That's the thing. No one don't answer than 47 but
you know, bring order the three months ago, so the saying seven eight months, so four months left.
Maybe but no one's telling me. Oh well, you got all the cars
hasn't been built, but I can tell you that he doesn't get track. He said, daughters, being put in
and I'll let us know when anything happens.
So it's on a need-to-know basis, Rob.
Okay, we'll find at the moment. We pretty much most.
I think you need a little a little G kit for it.
I think that'll that'll make it like I've been looking at the GE case around less shy away from them because they're not practical great. They might look like All right,
you know, you look like a little G wagon through the streets, but then you can't take it off-road and practicality goes downhill pretty quickly. But yeah, hopefully, once I get
it. Yeah, I'll get it all sorted out
and get on the road and enjoy it.
Enjoy it Rose, what you should be saying, get up bright operate, that's right, get it off the right just quick one friend of mine, I feel these. Ford Courier up the other day
for the first time because he doesn't like his.
He's sort of pretty cheap and filling it up with it on the diesel. Ha ha ha.
So that put a jerrycan in the back of his car.
Filled a jerrycan up another to Jerry cans of full of diesel.
Park, is parked his car in the driveway.
Something coming up Monday morning the cow has gone, someone stole it. No, it's a 2000 model dual-cab,
Ford Korea, just a rear-wheel drive and you'll see a white one floating around, sort of Knocked around a little bit, but it was mechanically really a real good car.
But I hear that people steal them for the Ins to throw into four-wheel drive so, and bits and pieces, I don't know if they rebirth the engine or change, the serial numbers on them, or take the heads off them or what do they do to him?
Yeah but yeah lost its sentimental value for him but yeah, quite attached to his car. He's just too awesome.
That'll hold on, hold on to his car forever.
Yeah, then he's had it for probably 18 of those 20 years, you know. Yeah. 42.
Yeah. So yeah.
I've 2000 model. It's 22 years.
They are the lowest people, like, legit the lowest people that still cars, like Ike makes me so mad.
Well, we'll keep an eye out and if what colors are white, there's a white one. Yeah.
It's I think it's in a reward on the western suburbs Community page. So hopefully you've got stolen
from North Central and just off McIntyre Road.
Yeah, so that's a bit disappointing.
But anyway, apart from that, we are still trying to get my f, 1 F 100, sorted out, it's running rough, on the gas, even worse, on petrol. It's got a holy, I think, I
don't know if it's a 550 or 600. I don't even know if it's a 302
or for Area 51. It's equal to tell them those
Motors apart, that if that's different is a stroke.
Yeah, so I need to work out what sort of car be and I put on it so I don't Ivan Ivan saw as a cabbie or undersized inside.
I'll have to do some investigating on.
Replacing the car. Be on that one.
But yeah, that's pretty much it. Mr. Prince of those, with you
updates, weekly got the Civic wagon.
God did put the timing right in that, so but I haven't had a chance to get a trade quite and dry that yet.
Oh, that's talk to somebody else on the show tonight, Rectify that situation. Because I that needs to go off.
And next step now is to have the body now that actually starts and runs and Idols nicely and all those things.
So, that's half the battle. Other care update sellers away
for the weekend down gippsland way and person beautiful roads up through lock and Congo. A candle around that sort of
area. Beautiful, winding smooth
Country Roads that ilk under kill kunda.
Yes, yes. So that was, that was good.
But I only got Rather, CRV or put a legend on Grey's options, which ends in 48 minutes and 7 seconds.
If you're interested any bids, David no-bid, some 91 watching it. So we only need one of those 90.
Well, to preferably to decide they need to have it packs down.
So how's it going to reserve? It has.
Yeah, interestingly they put that the reserves met and that's where top there. I've started the bidding at
which is different to how they do it in other ways, it's actually make that. I've I share with as he did all
the work with graze on it. Other ones, sort of started
start much lower. This is the reserve 6 grand but
not anyone watching, we'll, we'll see how we go.
Yes, I think that's is, I haven't, I've been perusing a few Mercedes Sadie's bends, but Things.
Everything seems to have some reason for not going forward, it's a very nice 202 wagon for sale in Canberra at the moment is that the Plain Jane white one playing Jane classic, so, hubcaps white with gray. No roof, but 160 cases and
lovely history. It was clean, as you've got
Scotty's attention. Yeah, so I was interested in.
There is also one, I notice Just HIV or side of town Maddie with a p play and few bits and pieces and alloy wheels.
Painted black. Oh dear.
It's got a sunroof, which is good but it's done. 320.
Yeah so not so good. So definitely will turn up.
Yeah, I put The Feelers out to a couple people that met will see.
One come across. I've got a lovely 268 if you're
interested. Ya know, I sort of did think of
that. I thought, no, I don't want
Scott, he's snitching on me, so yeah, that good that will do.
The point, the point is now something will turn up.
So there's been me mr. Bunting, yeah.
Well let's just say it's been an expensive week.
I'm in the middle of service month but that's not the real bane of my existence dollar-wise come.
Yeah. Alright said.
So Friday morning. I think I was I have an alert
set on my car sales at the certain makes and models and I got pinged about one Friday morning.
Rang up about it at 8 a.m. and agreed to.
Look at it Sunday morning. So, in the end, I sort of, um,
denied and ended up saying yes to this Mini Moke.
So to Carol, boy was wanted that for me and now it's sitting at my garage. Rob's not a Rob's here, dear
Port business. Business decision, buying a car.
You always wanted to sell. No, no.
I'll buy I'll bike to keep but again, my bad decision for business, isn't it? It is.
It's a very bad business decision.
But in its defense Rob, I'll just say you haven't seen it.
It's sort of. It's pretty clean doesn't run
my. Do it set for about 20 years?
But other than that, it's quite nice to sit in a car noises.
Yeah, I toted home last night and I'll start the resurrection process of doing, brakes, and clutch, and deleting a few things. You know, put a battery in it
and try and get it running or not have a hole in the floor and use The Flintstones. Exactly.
Thankfully, the floors, not Rusty, but normally in most of those, you can drive the like, at least a quarterly.
Yeah. So, you know, they're not,
they're not sort of the cheat yourself.
I think it's the most expensive car I've ever bought.
That doesn't run them. In fact, it's funny because I've
ever bought for me, ever, which is saying, something more than my Pajero More than my mg more than my MX-5 smaller than any of those more than that. Yeah, yep.
More than that. So anyway, I just thought what
the hey, but, you know, like the guy who was selling and he said yesterday, when I saw some yesterday when I picked up your mind he said I had four people bring me today about it and, you know, they were more before that on the weekend.
So I'm I'm quite comfortable that I could always sell it again for what I pay if not a bit more.
So I'm like, all right, you know, we're safe if we if Buildings. I could, you know, the risk is
calculate this calculated risk. Exactly.
I do like well, yeah, I was meant to come see this yesterday. Yeah, I forgot to bring me and I
waited, and I waited and I waited distracted.
Towing it out and awaited by cars.
Now, not to lose money in the past.
We always bought cars knowing that we're going to lose a lot of money. Yeah.
Yeah, so now I can see anything I should make money on that but yeah anyway so I'm going to get a Hawaiian skirt and some aviators and you know, cruise around the summer is the ideas and some have been in the, in a Moog, some are emitted.
I know this David I was saying for my, mum was here before in the background and our cat when we were kids, you know, I I named the cat Mini Moke when we were kids and so I sort of always been like something that needed to happen so you can get a cat. Merc number two.
So what color is it that Bluey color?
No, it's white with the blue denim.
Top in the blue seats, it's California.
And you know, so it's the 1275 disc brake front end, Tombstone seats, bull bars, front and rear, you know, it's the spec.
Okay, and Robert appreciate the Mini World stickers.
We world to mini-world stickers. So, remember many world in the
city. Yeah.
Yeah. It came from any world.
Apparently, okay. Yes, they documents that I get
my pay 76, go and get him side by side with the best of Leyland 17. He's
one of the last ones, they rental, 82 in the 80s, and 81 to 82. Having honest ones, but mine's
not galvanized. Can you imagine how many of
those two sold 92? I'm guessing not a lot.
There were heaps, they made all up 26,000 I think in Australia.
Okay, because we were the biggest market for those outside of Britain and be like we made way more here and they'll know more salty than Britain and then because you think they're pretty weird. What's a girl after here.
So you think they're British car but they're actually a more in Australia. Yeah absolutely.
Yeah there's one at the Heritage motor museum with 20 Engines.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, an engine in the front end engineer.
Yeah. Right the direction of seen
them. Anyway what about the Veena
other Barina? Yeah.
A little beep. Beep, Arena.
What happened? Without I got a key cut for that
and it starts. You start some runs and drives
quite well. I took it around the block.
Oh excellent. Okay, so Barina is good.
So I think I will get that red diode and roadworthy and then on Silver. Okay?
Yeah, that's fine. I will Sell.
Hmm yeah. So if anyone needs to cheap
little run around that won't cost them much to bring is not a bad thing. Has this Subaru be moved on?
The Subaru has been sold to get the road where the in that that was all good. Yes, that was all good.
I spend a little bit getting a few more things done to it but but yep, that's gone. Honda Civics.
Gone Ford Fiesta xr2 other to Rago gone.
So everything's gone except for Raina.
And now, mokey's here. Come on sale, go.
Man's grandson. Yeah.
Mmm, very exciting head, but I'm not, I'm excited to see this guy forever. Getting told well, victim to be
somewhere apology tomorrow night.
There's a not come around. I told you, you left me outside,
all alone. Yeah, cold cold in the rain.
What about you, many nuns? I have.
Swapped my 1.5 litre turbocharged Fiesta for another
1.5 litre turbocharged vehicle. Okay.
So I am now the driver of Val H to, thank you very much.
It's getting repaired. And my loan car is have also
have that we've been asking you guys since like the star of this show to lend us, a lend us a car.
So we can, we can review it. But that never happened.
So I've been given one has a line guy to 2021 build have a wage to. Yeah I kind of like it actually
to be fair. It's not a I mean it's just it's
not a great drive. It's a just another one of the
SUVs but I did a bit of a pros and cons list for you guys over my four days of ownership Pros. I think it looks quite good.
I think I think they've got their hit the nailing on the hit the nail right on the head. With the styling, I think it
looks like every other boring SUV on the market.
So that's kind of in its favor. I think that that makes it quite
Quite a good like the wheels. I think the interior is quite
put together quite nicely. Like I, you know, keep in
comparison to like early Great Wall products, from which is the same company about losers is Great Wall.
I remember what my brother drove a a great wall you from years ago and that thing was horrendous like the build quality of the interior was shocking.
This thing's actually screwed together.
Got quite nice. It's you know it's got its got
like the actual interior is quite nice.
Like I was thinking back to when I drove the MGs and it just shows how far Chinese cars have come in such a short amount of time. Now the mg zealous is like was
one of the top sellers and and mg3 and all that stuff.
So you can see why they're there something, right?
Because you're getting a fair bit of car for not a lot of money. It rides, okay, it's a bit, it's
a bit, you know. My issue with this UV rays and
and he meow guys, I think you guys can agree with me is that because the center of gravity is really high the they try to stiffen up the Springs to stop the role but that makes the ride quite jittery and choppy so it kind of but in this car they've kind of found a nice balance which I found really, really good because I've driven if I've been driven in a few SUVs in there and they were super taught for not for no.
Gain at all, which is, I guess kind of like the opposite of what like you Get in a Range Rover like you know, like like a probably inverted commas SUV when they were first coming out or, you know, they're soft, suspension Wally all over the road but comfortable. This is kind of like an in
between, which is, which is kind of surprised me.
And I was like, you know what? That's actually, not too bad
cons. However, the tech is not great
for a 2021 car. Yes, it is cheap.
Yes, it is a little bit, a little bit plain, but like, just like you can tell it's like a, it's like a, it's like when you buy a fake iPod and the And the background and the background screens and stuff. I like they try to do really
cool animations but they look, they don't really look good.
That's kind of what you're saying on the on the dash in the in the, in the center, in the center, the center screen.
And it's like it tells you like in, it's like big bold numbers, you know, fuel economy. Your how much do you like so I
was a bit like, well, okay, I to kind of put it to the most, the more softer screen, which is the, which is the air temperature. So the, the it every day, yes it
is. It is a temperature of your
tyres, which is surprising. I've never had a car that I've
seen with with, you know, temperature of your ties as well as the PSI. So it's always just either, you
know, your PSI levels or but this one's got both.
So I've got to run that setting currently equal if you're driving on a volcano mate. Yeah, it is.
It'll tell me, let me know, Rob, it'll let me know.
Engine noise is, you know, when you guys go to the bar Biz, right? And then your and in the the
clipping your hand. On you.
And like, it's like that that little bit of our like that, that little bit of a clip as when they lift up the back of your head, that is what the engine sounds like, it's okay.
It's I don't know if the turbo is got like a got, like a fin bent or something. I mean, the cosmic than 70,000 K
so you'd assume not but God, it's a weed noisy and I was on the first of all drivers cars, like what is that noise?
But it is very smooth. It's six-speed automatic drugs,
right? Got no power.
But yeah, it's good. If you're an Apple user because
it's got carplay, but if you're an Android User, you got no, you got nothing. So you've got Bluetooth.
But yeah. Look, not too bad have all it
took me ages to to get my hands on mine but I've got my hands on one so have a look. You listening Center some more
cars because I think I just, you know, I think get my car hits to be able to drive one. So now I am going to say I was
expecting it to be trash. And to be fair it's not a Right
car but it does everything. What a person would want in a
car if that's what they're after and you know, how about you two?
There you go. There's the car.
Took top tip if you're after a car that's cheap with a little bit of tech and kind of okay, builds have alleged to there you go. You wish.
But the group question is that, if you're in the market for a cheap SUV with your own money, would you buy and have a h2no?
Okay, thank God Is Watching card.
Talk with my job next week. Back to the studio do that.
But what choice do you have? Yeah, in that solvent mg mg.
Yeah I prefer I prefer this to the mg.
I drove I should prefer this to the.
It's it's it's the suspensions nicer.
It's more Supple. The interior.
I think such a quite nice. I think it's a nicer interior.
DMG that was the most gutless car ever driven.
This actually goes. Right, uncanny comparison
comparable to have a Japanese cars.
What at what level is like a Outlander or is it and sex?
I'd probably have it over in ASX.
Actually, to be fair or is it is?
Yes. Yeah, it's actually a little
bigger. A little bigger, the bigger.
So almost between a Outlander and a 66 like a cash card sort of size cache, got great guy and what does that make it?
Hey, HIV HIV HIV. So the so will cost you what 27
990s it roughly is it 28 grand? Not too sure because it because
they don't sell th to anymore. They finished it.
Okay. Equivalent.
And whatever they have now. They're about 25 Grand on second
demo. Yeah.
And the cheapest Japanese car be 32 Ishmael.
Yeah, these days I think they are sex is around 31 32.
Now to keep entire is probably Chapin the Vitara wag.
I'm gonna probably go for Avatar out of that lot out of, you know, resupply Pizookie sound cheap, even the product.
They put the price up on the gym, need by about four thousand dollars. When I was looking dead, cert
goodness thousand dollars it for free to dealer and ask I'm not paying thirty eight thousand dollars for these and given given Rob given Rob's experience, you may not find out if you're going to get a retire for.
The next five years, that's right.
This is if you don't tell anyone anything and exactly.
So yeah, so when you look at it and you might be able to get to have all tomorrow whereas if you try to get a sexy might have to wait three months or bit longer, I think it's got a bit more a bit more character than Isaac Isaac's, which is a boring car.
Like it's just a really boring car.
This is got like LED headlights and and you know like a massive Sun like a massive panoramic roof and Lost license features, like it gets it. The things that he this car gets
right? It goes right, quite well and I
know that's what really surprised me but like things are gets wrong, it gets wrong really badly, like, for example to Tech which, which, you know, I thought, you know, the screens could be a little bit nice and look, it's just, it's an up-and-coming car company in terms, in terms of that.
So like that. That's not the, that's not the
be all and end all. But one thing that I was shocked
about, was it was it felt quite solid, right?
But it was only shut the door. It's like the door.
Doesn't show up properly after shot it.
Slam the door. Shut.
Like the so it's like it can't get the air out of the car.
So so like the door just doesn't show.
So are you talking about the compact cargo?
Shut the door against Reagan back and slam it.
That's a good thing. So it's got a good good seal on
it. It does.
Yeah. Really good seal and and that
was applying the test blurs, the Mustangs up a lot of the cars, the windows actually drop. Every time you open the door,
close the door that I did. They pop back up just for that
reason because the windows will pop out your ticket.
Now if you never Raise you gotta go man, will talk to you soon.
Yeah, well dude, thanks, God. Thanks gents.
Thank you. So, yeah, I'll look over all,
it's not a bad thing. If you're after a car in that, I
mean I like I'm not I'm going to go buy an SUV so like, you know, but if I had the choice maybe avatara but to drive not bad.
Just if you're after a car for new car with cheap with plenty of warranty, you know, and from what I've heard so far, there's been a horror stories with them, OMG in terms of, in terms of ownership experiences and After sale service and like the reliability issues like that boy, what I'm hearing is that there's a very good art style service for MGS and they're really looking after the customer from what I've heard.
Yeah, it's really surprising. Because like, they were getting
cared about everyone who's going to buy an mg?
But at the end of the day, when yet, when like there's top top sellers and two of the two of the segment's.
It's, you know, it's saying something and then the fact that there's no like, you know, issues in terms of like are people saying, I don't buy em, gee, they screwed me over.
It seems like they're back in their car, and they seem to be quite reliable because they've been here for a few years now.
I think maybe you could start considering looking at MG like it's like, my sister's got one. She hates it.
What don't you like about it? Robbed?
A fixed. Just that, I think she's a bit
of a bay, what they call it a brand stop.
So, that's one thing. Yeah.
So it has to be a Volkswagen or better and I said, well, Volkswagens out of that good, but I'll have the mg.
Thank you very much. Are linked to the same buttons,
have no reason to mg Volkswagens, somehow Affiliated, and I think the same time make the Volkswagens in China.
They use some of the same buttons, okay.
It made Volkswagens in China since the early 80s.
Hmm. The Santana was a karna.
That's the scent. Donna, so we've got the Sultana,
the date and the polo can decorate.
The polo sedan, Was the first Chinese built cars soldiers in.
97 buttons are sticking on a the return air or recycling recycled air outside fresh air button sticks.
She reckons the gearbox sort of wines quite a bit underpowered.
So and this is my sister driving it so but she's look.
Again, it was all down to prices twenty three thousand dollars drive away. For the whatever it is mg3.
I think it is. You got oh, that's the baby one.
Yeah, that wasn't. It's more of a SUV, the
mid-sized. Okay.
Yeah. The HS is the Aegis of the
zealous, but does it has a smaller actually might be dessert? Is this?
Yeah. Sorry.
Is that it's yes. Um, but if it's cheap, it's not
doesn't necessarily mean horrendous and, and you know how you'll die and stuff, prove that.
And they've kind of look where they are now.
So we'll, there's some. So the safety ratings on the
amoeba with a freak for star. That's not look at those.
That's a good. Yeah.
But uh, but generally anyway, that's my car that's just sort of. Let you guys know about my but
my humble experience, we've only got one gentleman.
We finally got off of the show. I should get my Fiesta back the
end of the week, so that should be nice.
I can't wait to get it back. There's the insurance company
paying through a re ceramic code on it.
They better be. So, my, my panel beaters, like,
he's like, I'm getting it done. So I'm like, okay.
So he's taking it back to The second is getting, it is getting the bar taken back to the place, and getting it all done, bring it back. So yeah, fingers crossed should
be all good, all good, judgment. Tonight's topic which we try it,
which I don't know if you guys saw this, but one state in Australia, has decided as a possibility to do it to do a certain thing now. What do we think about this
certain thing more physical explained with a certain thing is it's about to get was it was a different licenses for different power. Power power levels are car.
So thoughts on that, do you think that's going to change the way we do things? You're going to make any
difference at all? Or do you think we'll people are
just buying SUVs and you know talking about really make a difference for everyone should do an advanced drivers course.
It's anyway really. This is some core of some sort
of you know It's defensive driving course of stars.
And in an advanced course thereafter again, riding motorcycles. All right, - officer years, and
I learned the hard way rather than going through a school should have done 15, 20 years earlier.
And I end up doing the superbike schools which aren't really super box is about staying a bike.
Yeah. And it just changes your whole
entire mindset about the way you ride.
Yeah. So and it's the same thing with
the cast. I'm turning down further back.
I've always had a bit of a bee in my Bonnet.
I think it should be taught in schools because it's the one thing that the vast vast majority of people will be doing like topside necessarily signed. So that's the the problem is
that this is happening in South Australia and they are still.
There might have caught up a little bit but there used to be 20 years behind now 2/10. Imagine when you're doing
hyperspeed with a hypercar, they're still back. 1985 or
something. So, it's scary.
Yeah, but the There are rules in place already.
I mean, obviously here around turbocharged cars for p plates and they're not, they're not, they're not applied.
Now I've seen so many WRX has, you know, near really current ones and golf class and things like that with P pages on them.
You think we'll hang on, that's not meant to be some of them just meet that threshold. And directors do do they don't
know our exes yet. They are save me.
It's they can go off now these days the reason time to take off pal to wait. Yeah, so yeah.
Can't exceed 25 January 1st 2010, that turbocharged and supercharged car or V8 cannot exceed?
More than 130 kilowatts per ton. So Most of those WRX has and if
you got a club registered vi8, that's been souped-up, you can drive it as on a paper plate. Yeah, you can't really just V
people get around card Bridge as well, the clubbers cars, if your car is on club red, she can't drive V8, turbo, charged, as robbed, said with the V8, but with turbocharger Vehicles needs to be Factory turbocharged. You can't do any more
modifications with a turbocharged vehicle.
That's when it's It's Grant a lot of people play still do it.
I've seen it happen. A few friends, I've done it with
the skylines to whatnot, but yeah, they that's another way to get around it. So okay, so the basically come
in and said, column is could be applied to driving license in a major changes being proposed, right?
So now basically they're wanting to do this, but because the amendment have been considered after a 15 year old girl was struck and killed by a Lamborghini Huracan in 2019.
So we with the introduction of a gin with the introduction of a media type of driving offense also being considered in the wake of the event. So basically they've said, okay,
this person was driving extremely high-powered, car killed an individual, why? Let's kind of make that thing.
Now, in terms of, in terms of that happening, like it's going to it's going to cause one or two things to happen.
I think one people that we pissed off because I like will already got a Lamborghini Huracan, why don't you know, I'm a great job of what do I need to do it.
And two it's going to make a some people aren't going to make other people upset that they they might have a car that comes under a powerful powerful sitting and then but they don't they don't want to do this issue.
Course and extra stuff to do not so they're going to sell their car. Do you think it's a good
initiative or do you think that this isn't a bad idea or do you think that this is going to you know really help your help people that have a good car controller and have an understanding of like well you're driving a powerful car?
You Think ahead don't be a dickhead you know kind of mentality. What do you think's going to
happen here with that? I think it's a Band-Aid fix over
a bigger issue. Its I mean that that's one
incident which I'm you know it's horrible to hear and what happened. But that was one super cut out
of how many other cars have hit and killed someone.
There's heaps and this is one Supercar that's happened and they targeted and locked on on this and thought not let's just do this. Just so it looks like they're
doing something. It kind of reminds me to with
the bridge that we got. Nearby where I am and instead of
actually fixing and doing something about it, they've lowered the speed limit on it. They had those two options, it
was it's a very, very busy Bridge, very busy area.
A lot of trucks, it does need to be fixed.
It's an old bridge and they had the two choices of actually do it properly and fix it. Or lower the speed limit.
And they just went with the Quick Fix and they've lowered.
The speed limit all the way down to 40, which the trucks can't do because I can't get back up the hill on the other way around.
Hmm, that's bollocks, that's the one.
Yeah I was just in a big line. Struggling, they cow.
I've seen it before. You get the wrong gear and that
you'll staffed. Well, when I have it on my
motorcycle I said 40 cases, you've got to be kidding.
It's Never right-hander up the hill and it's 40 kilometers an hour. Mmm Place always placing it.
Yeah, yeah. And it's just because they don't
want to spend the money properly like, they should.
I know, I posted also about That it's not just these fast cars that you need the license for. I think they need to go back and
have a look at the cars that are on the road.
The more dangerous ones are not these Lamborghinis.
The more dangerous ones are the ones that are driving around with bald tires, rusted out, and they're not getting picked up on. My mark.
Now yours is fine. It's not running, it's pretty
safe. Here is like the jacket Mustang
and in the wrong hands I could see why so many people crashing?
Yes, Liesl. I've actually traction control
on and everything. I've went through a roundabout,
just gave it a little bit on the roundabout and the whole car just Spun around like being stupid or, but I want to know my limitations on how the car would actually hold out.
Not very good. Yeah.
So now I know that this car is has got its limitations.
You just could be real careful, how you feather the throttle.
And that's where I think you should stand back to to Vic Rose. If we're talking about here in
Victoria, there's so far behind. I think they've I think they've
Just upgraded the computers for the for the tests.
When I it was like pixelated mess.
What you're putting out, what I do is put at three tests, why did they actually charge for the test and do some training or something? Hmm, I agree.
And then they just leave it up to parents to do the 120 hours.
And look, no offense to parents and stuff, but you've picked up bad habits and you're passing it on to your children.
You're not, you know, license tests tests done.
Knows the rules 100% you slack off.
I know I do and there's bad habits and you're just showing it straight to your kids and then they're learning from there and it moves on. Yeah, that's what I told my
kids. When they'll learning had a
driver said, you need to take driver, the instructors lessons from someone else because I might not be showing you the right habits. Even though I think they're
okay. Yeah, yeah.
I'll let you drive in a different life back in the 80s.
I still be dad's car. Wash. 15 16 and take it to the
paddocks and learn how to drift it.
You can't do that anymore. You can't did have abs, you
didn't have traction control, it was a different generation growing up. Hmm.
So you learn a lot of that in the kids, these days and people with these hyper cars are probably, you know, these Tech, you know, gurus in their 40s or 30s.
Really. You haven't had that opportunity
to still do that scars and and go into Panic some driving with no abs and Traction control. Yeah, we need more tests more
Test Facilities. It should be mandatory for
through vicroads. They need to do more than what
they're doing. They get enough money as it is.
You go back to supercars. I know.
Porsche Ferrari. Mercedes all have Advanced
Driver courses and you do. Yeah, I know.
I am G to. Yeah, yeah, yeah, find it.
They do it for free. I mean, if you bought it, Car
like that. Why would you say?
No, they take you out for free, please.
Patrick you were going to say yeah I'm pretty.
I pretty much agree exactly with Scotty.
I like those Advanced Driver courses in a thorough testing should be you know, provide and be available like in force and it is a kind of like a Band-Aid fix you know, and just targeting just a Supercar for like for that one incident.
Like I'm pretty sure there's many times, you know, some some idiot. I mean I'm sure you guys
probably remember this from a couple years ago.
Do we have that drunk driver in the, you do their run in Sydney, run over this kids and killed him.
And when the water ice cream have that he was going to drop any of you, you know, it's hard to drive.
It's horrible. So, yeah.
You are you going to say now I did drop to operate that pacific work. You you go out and get a special
licensing. I don't think so.
For me, personally, but definitely with high powered cars or whatnot. You know, it should definitely
be seen as a responsibility you No, it's something that you know, it isn't your standard car, those of those driving courses that with Porsha. I know my makes he works, there
he does go out to them and they do teach you properly how to control the car out of the car was, you know, engineered and built what it was designed to do, they teach you the controls and everything about it. So yeah, it's pretty icy.
They are adding the extra licensed in just a bit of a long as Scotty said, you know how? Because I mean, I'll get a
Band-Aid. It's not really giving much into
a pecan just showing. Hey this happened on this
particular this, this group saying the hypercars.
Let's just do something about that and just show that you know putting some of these really easy for them to do.
Yeah let's say it's a cheap way out.
That's it's a cop-out that's why I say it's real strange for US states enforcing something like that.
When I don't even do road where these?
Yeah. It's groups.
And and in particular its we've got this this notion in this country of speed kills, speed kills speed kills speed kills speed kills. Yeah it does.
But that's you know it's just constantly drilled into us at anytime in enthusiasts does something wrong, they are inverted commas, they are the whole Community is punished so hard. Whereas We see people get hit by
cars every single day, you know, and to be Fair, drumming SUV like SUV. I've got now, two blind spots.
Horrendous. Okay.
In in the background, like, like, that should be an issue.
That should be a thing that should be brought to their cars.
Should have, you know, bigger like a sort of less blind spots here. So you guys, you see, when you
turn it because people hate you, people do things accidents, do happen. Don't just buy him.
A certain amount of don't blame all of every they're blowing the majority for the minorities fault and I I think we've got to be, got to be culture that here in Australia.
However, example you see, apparently Darwin had to reduce their speed and it's 230 km for them to get wrote the Federal Road funding. And so, they reduced it for so
many years. And what they found is the
actual car, crashes, and fatalities actually went up.
And so, just starting been last few years, where they've actually derestricted again, where you can go unlimited speed again. And I haven't heard of the
fatalities, but I'm sure you would hear about If they started going up again. Yeah.
Mxc will know its speed. That is comfortable.
Exactly. You know, when I was in the
Northern Territory, you wouldn't want to go over more than 120 East because after having surgery or fuel consumptions and starts going on this, He's a past.
Like you'd pass, cop cars, and then they couldn't do anything about you. Flying past them at like you're
180 has an area and they just look at you and I give you a wave and he's straight past. Yeah, it's just it's one of
those things, but but it didn't in David Europeans.
Did you think? That like what Scotty Patrick
and Robin saying about like it being a Band-Aid fix, do you think it is a Band-Aid fix or do you or do you think the what do you think the fixes guys? Like that?
Like nothing. That's nothing.
That's the bigger issue. What is the fix here?
But for this situation, David David.
Well, II, think this, the publicity surrounding is this actual incident. It's probably a knee-jerk
reaction to that, that that, that sort of, started the ball rolling and then As you said, Maddie, I mean, once something happens with a exotic sort of car like that, it does sort of ramp it up to another level and then everyone sort of suffers.
But then what Scotty said to, I mean, the it's interesting in Victoria, we still don't have annual Road, were these?
Where is it New South Wales? I mean, I know there's some way
or at, you know, people always find a way around it if they want to, but yeah, one owner car.
I mean that mokes probably never had a road already because it's been in the same family. Maybe not from you.
I thought you said he's dead. Okay.
Well yeah, I mean however, long you have a car, you don't have to have and roadworthy, you know?
And so there are plenty of cars that are on there.
I could have never had a technical roadworthy in 10, 20, 30, 40 years, and in Victoria. So, that's part of the problem.
I mean, obviously they're not hypercars, they're obviously, thankfully, I think it would be much more probably, most of the hybrid cars. Don't didn't have all the AIDS
that they have. As Rob said, I mean, you know,
with those sort of things, it masks that a lot of the rawness, of the driving anyway. So as far as the fix is
concerned, what are you trying to fix people's inability in experience or attitude? I think they're the two
different things that you've got to look at.
I think the licensing system is pretty flawed, you know, it's so easy. Really relatively here to get a
license compared to a lot of Europe and other countries.
And, you know, we're not trained from the get-go to be good drivers in Australia, really much, I know, but when I went through my action, my parents took me to, I drove myself to work everyday, with my parents in a car.
As I was learning, then I would took the driving instructor.
He took me around, but you never done.
High-speed. Any freeway driving was always
around The back streets or in a Shopping Centre car park, or was it any high-speed stuff or merging or anything like that?
I can't recall any of that in my time when all learn no same here and that, you know, you go to Sweden and Germany and places like that and then it's really expensive to get your license and it's really technical mention that to those going to stake, me cheap here, but over there to get your license.
Yeah, they make you They make you do a lot more conditional, different condition, driving. And what have you and under a
lot? Yeah, different circumstances.
American the northern states to learn how to drive on a snow and ice. Yeah, the consequently, you go
to Europe and, you know, the Germans are amazing for, I guess, you know, they travel on the autobahns a Time, limited speed. They know how to merge, they
know how to be Miss Lane. They know how to overtake and
it's just ingrained in their culture.
Good drivers here. You can see what it'll do the
world's best. Rally drivers, come from up,
North The Europe downtown. Yeah and there's no other
industry and I've said this before where you can operate a machine, it has such destructive capabilities with such little training. If this was a if you worked in a
factory and you had had the ability to operate a machine that could do the damage to the car, could do to you.
The passengers are others around you you know there'd be some pretty damn stringent rules on who could use that machine and not cars. It's like Buddy, is that it for
work. I had to renew my my skills in
my workplace for me to actually be allowed to drive a company car and you have to watch a video of a drive Advanced Driver course and what could happen, you know?
And having the two second rule and all this sort of stuff and so you work pretty much on tour that probably you have probably get more training through work about how to drive a car, then what you would through vicroads. It's funny.
Because like what like over the first.
I got my learner's permit, right?
I am Mom Mom to be able to do my test passages.
I got nothing to drop meseta. Like what already?
She's like yep. She's like yeah best way to
learn not behind the wheel not by another by reading books or anything. Oh my God.
Okay, so give it a little bit like just getting getting used to the car and then she's like, all right, well we're going on the freeway and I'm like this is my first day.
Do you know what my first day with up with with my learner's permit? She's like, if you don't go on
there, you know, you're going to be scared, you're not you're not going to have confidence. You need So you need to just rip
the Band-Aid off and get into it and and learn how to do it from the get-go, the area. So I was on the I was drunk
driver had occasion our on my first day or going to give Mi gettin my learner's permit because and believe me, I was Bloody terrified because I was like, I've never done this before but it was also I think it made me a better driver for it. Like Mom was driving when she
was like six or seven years old and a paddock, you know, in a in a file on a farm that they'll be all patted gunch's, you know, just do it, you know, driving tractors and all sorts of stuff as So she's like, you know, it's the more time behind the wheel, the better. But I think I think the biggest
issue is education and I think I think education about about driving in and and, and getting people behind the wheel of different cars. And then we had different kinds
of react and getting her. And, and seeing like that.
What cars are like, what the cable of like, for example, your Mustang rob, you had a bit of a play with it and it was like, whoa, okay, there we go. It's already spun around, you
know, getting people to understand what understeer is getting people down, somewhat oversteer is Getting people understand, you know? The dude you're braking
distances and and and and all those things I think super important. So I think I think education is
a big thing because all because all we're worried about is you know how far you park to the curb, you know, can you do a parallel park and used like but why they're important things to do, they're not, they're not giving you car control.
You know, giving you that I'm giving you that that visceral experience. Will you one on one with the
car? Which I think is a really really
important thing. Think Place coming to schools
and talking about Rogue trauma is not enough.
Yeah, I agree. It's a, it's a start.
But do you need? I'll get it every instructor to
come in and talk. Yeah, I wouldn't be doing my
job. If I didn't Advocate car clubs,
either a concert incredible resource that everyone has access to my I taught by three kids to drive and one of my son's was extra keen and could and got a Kansas license.
As it was then sound Motor Sport, Australia, Junior Club member can get a license at 12 and he was doing motor.
Connors and as Rob was saying, no sliding around paddocks around flags and stuff like that from a very early age and then spreading it stand down when he actually got on the road.
I mean, he could drive a car obviously.
But what I wasn't prepared for was how or where he was of other Road users and the That out, that all the stuff he done so far in a pedicure on a race track was in a totally controlled environment with everybody going the same way and room to be run off. If you make a mistake, where is
he was just so hyper aware of the other cars and, and, and, and obstacles, you know, people for pedestrians and things like that. It was a real investment.
And I mean all my kids are great drivers, thankfully and they've been thinking Enos very free of problems or altercations with anything, but yeah, the one that had the camps license was from the get-go. A very different proposition.
Yeah. So if anyone listening, you
know, has got teenage kids. And the other thing is it gives
them a great Outlet because they know they can go on a racetrack and thing the hell out of their car.
Well, Dad's car even better, we've got two dead and that's that's just a It's so much fun but I know then there is the place they can do that. They don't have to translate
that onto the road in front of their mates.
Yeah, absolutely. Hey Patrick you go, there you
go. Rob!
Oh it's a quick one. I father-and-son thing and you
attack him on the racetrack. I bought my son, a track day
ticket to drive a Lamborghini, Huracan around, a lot of food way for to do five laps. So the funny part about was so I
Bought him to ticket, not for me to go out.
I was just going to watch and they said, oh we got a special office in that you bought yourself a ticket.
We can get you into an Audi R8, V10, right?
For half the price. I got.
All right, and having fun. I was really enjoying food it.
All right, so I was really giving it a good hammering and I was actually lapping people and actually passed.
Let me son. And I said, yeah, I know you
guys are here. A lot harder to drive a bad.
I tell you that he's probably, yeah, so it's amazing.
The confidence you have with age to I think or the experience that you've gained over the years and you put it on a racetrack, you know, father and son and you taught your son how to drive and he's got a lot of experience to, he's got to, you know, C63 AMG that he drives. And he said some nice cars over
the years, it's ruined. Mustang for quite a few years
devoted as well so I can totally trust him but the same time, I maybe he doesn't want to know his limits, even a lot of kids these days of quite happy to drive within the limitations as well. So you've got a grant that to
the kids these days too and there's nothing wrong with drawing within the limitations like that.
Like that's actually that's right.
That's actually a really good thing because you're obviously the youngest one a little bigger if you leave.
You're the one that's had gotten a lot, you lie.
Patrick the better, the baby of the of the car to create that.
You've got a new license after. After all of us, do you have
something in your 12? So 2019.
Yeah. Oh my God.
It's so long Legacy of full license.
Free license. Did you have any any
infringement during that time? During that time?
Yeah. Yeah, yeah yeah, yeah, I got
one. And I'm still paying off one now
research, but, but I'll be honest with you.
Like I am. I always drive with the my
limits. I never pushed myself.
I never VAR, you know, try to max out.
You know, my car's limitation. No, no, look when I when I first
look, I'm honest man. When I first got my license, I
had my Falcon. I did Super stuff.
I'm not gonna be Push, I was silly with that.
You're 18 year old male pave just get your fresh red pays you have a real Drive Falcon and you know you're going to find it here and there you're going to rip a few skins.
You're going to do this, but I guess that comes as well with age and maturity and experience that, you know, the older you get not necessarily you become a better driver because it's I've come across many older drivers, right?
Aw shucks. I generally believe that once
you reach like a certain like old old age.
How old are you do a retest?
Refresher just to make sure Anna, I think generally as well, you know, or even just offering those refresher classes to the general public for people to take can definitely, you know, improve because you know, we all have this.
All have bad habits and I'm far from a perfect drive.
I'm sure you're all in the same boat.
So yeah, I mean, I don't, you know, push myself.
I take my time and if I'm ever given an opportunity, you know like Like Robin Harley or to go on a track and, you know, pull test my limits then by all means if I can have a driver professional driver, right? Next to me, to coach me and tell
me why I can prove on what I need to do, then, you know, definitely that would improve my driving in the long run.
So I don't know. But I mean talking to his maybe,
you know, someone but like my age but your spatial awareness starts to Did a little rusty as you get older and probably not driving as much as well with lockdown.
Make you find a lot of bad drivers out there.
Now yep, I agree with that. So once you hit your Meats 50s
you'll find that you you you do nothing you're in denial but you do slowed. You need to be a lot more
cautious about your drive and how you drive because you do shit with her car, come from because the minute ago you look in your rear-view mirror on your side, you know, you'll Yes, your side mirrors and there wasn't a card here.
A second ago, whether come from come from nowhere.
And all me, I'm quite alert with my surroundings and, and, but I'm fighting recently, maybe I'm not driving as fast, as I used to drive is always used to do that five kilometers above the speed limit. Yeah, he's out buying five k's
anyway is he still doing 100 technically so but I'm part of cars. You creep up from nowhere and it
sometimes you go to put your coat on this shit with it.
Whether that car come from and you've looked at your rear-view mirror, just a second ago. So I think your spatial
awareness does diminish over time.
Go to this way. Patrick, you know, talk about
doing young think doing stupid things, one of the stew, but I'm one of the twelves in my cohort, just lost his license for a year. Doing a hunt did 138 and 80s
over something, so yeah. Had that is just that it's just
stupidity in my eyes, like its 100th.
Wow. There's nothing safe about in an
80s zone. No you're gonna do it.
Get on the freeway? Yeah.
Yeah at least minimum. Yeah.
Yeah. There's nothing around quite
freeway. What color were they driving
buddy? I don't know.
I just heard it today was a teacher were talking like I lost his license but by doing some some Stupid speeds.
And and a few of the kids have been to like telling me like I'm going to name names, but they'll say how fast have been driving.
I'm like, oh yeah. I'm like that's like I'll be in
the car. Go so hard.
This only other one. Yeah.
Look. I just there's there's a time
and a place and obviously is not the spot for it.
But anyway, it's not Patrick's Point about older drivers.
My mother-in-law has just renewed her license for three years over 75. I think they are.
Give you the oxygen three years. You don't get a 10 year license.
It was $70 or something for three years, something ridiculously cheap, she's 89 in December, so not so much as a so much as a letter, from the doctor, and up, so much as a hold one hand over your left eye, and tell me what's nothing, but it's stuffy, go, nothing nothing for you $70 and off you go jeru, just pay it up front. Here they took my mom's license
offer about eight months ago because she had a Bit of a Bingle freaky houses from her where she lived?
Yeah. Yeah, I'm around a quarter.
She misjudged the car. She clipped the car panic.
When across the other side of the road, hit the curb.
So took out the mirrors on both sides of the car so far out both guards anyway, cut a long story short, she wrote off her niece and Joe Alice with only 30,000 cases on it Immaculate and got paid out market value, 10 11 k for it.
You can't buy one for under 16 or 17 in good condition.
Yeah. So the police, the people that
she hit call the police police. Actually, without even doing any
judgment said, we're sending a letter out to cancel your license, you want to contest it. You can contest it, but you're
going to lose your license. Yeah, like forever forever
unless you can get, unless you can contest it and prove and then the driving test, That's, that's the way that's the way.
So, family, the can-can, you can do it anonymously.
It can be done anonymously or anyone who sees you driving badly, can theoretically be W in doctors, do it obviously, but some people are wise enough to I know couple of other people that have said, you know what, it's been fun.
But I'm not confident enough now and so, I'm not driving anymore.
In handy license in. That's a different thing.
But yeah, I also have a relative who was in an accident that Their fault, but the on a technicality, the police said, write what? You know, you know, you agree
with taking your license and luckily he didn't get it back because you shouldn't have been driving, but but my mother-in-law still pretty good. You know, the car hasn't got a
mark on it. You know, she's very only drives
short distances and helps the old people out.
Yeah, that's good. Yeah, yeah.
But then he's the, I his, the other flip side of that coin is who's helping the old people out, you know, like the old people Who's getting, who's getting the money?
Like, you know, I mean, who's getting the mobile, you know, like who's taking them plays and stuff?
Because and, and that's another can of worms how, like, people that the whole lot, but I know just from my experience, my mum doesn't want any help, but there is help out there from the local councils. They'll pick you up and take you
to the shops. And they'll, and that you can
actually arrange all of that. That's good.
So you can get the help if you're not in denial, like my mum stories. Well, that's up some good
discussion, gentlemen, about that because I think it's an important thing to talk about especially going forward with with with cars and especially, with, with electric cars because how powerful and quick they are, you know, like if they that's where we're heading. One Touch of the throttle bang,
you really around in case an hour.
I think it's I think it's an important thing to talk about gentlemen, it's time for the quiz.
Ooh, you know the rules 10. Questions, plus a bonus
questions, buzzing with your name.

Edible, just teach me boring French cars and then the German Japanese and French Ida back. Pretty certain the Peugeot is
sort of unreliable and they've been a lot of issues with them over the years. Are they any better now?
Now they work with probably worse and worse back in the sixties and seventies our Brittany.
Yeah, look, my daughter's, got a rent-a-cop.
Captured touchwood, I bought her to 2016 but all it's got 115,000 Climbers on it, it broke down for the first time recently with a He ECU module issue. It's pretty good run, it's not
too bad and she got ninety nine thousand kilometers out of the original set of tires. That's pretty good.
That's very good, Renault captur tool.
So there you go for French cars. They're not bad, not bad.
There you go. The first car to talk to you.
